The Late Empire Period

Giovannian%20Empire%20Divisions%20factbo

The administrative divisions of the Giovannian Empire (the regions of Lavender Island, and colonies elsewhere) with their start and end dates.

11th century: turmoil and initial independence movements

Upon Tommaso II's death in 1038 AF, his daughter Valeria inherited the throne, marking the end of Pax Giovanniana because a few rebellions started. Unable to improve the situation, she abdicated in 1045 and the throne passed on to Nyima III, who managed to put the rebellions to an end after easing some restrictions. Nyima's decisions upset the more conservative members of the imperial court, which took their chance to strike after she died in 1055, and her son Paldeno decided to reverse the policies soon after taking the throne. This angered the Glendulan people, starting their ambition of becoming an independent nation once more. Meanwhile, some Minsunese aristocrats had sent their children to pursue education abroad decades before, spurring the formation of the Gaikoku Society during Teresa's reign, with the goal of writing anti-Giovannian propaganda. Paldeno's authoritarianism caused one of the society's members, called Fukito, to begin writing a book called the "Woes of the Masses" denouncing the Empire.

This turmoil resulted in Paldeno's assassination in 1062, after which his sister Amanda I inherited the throne, although she abdicated due to poor health in 1065 and her younger sister Raffella became the next Empress. Raffella tried to restore the peace amid the imperial decline, however the quality of life for the Empire's inhabitants was declining. Meanwhile, the imperial government banned the "Woes of the Masses" and other similar works, leading to the arrest of their authors, and subsequent trials where they were found guilty of treason and hanged. These events fueled Minsunese nationalist sentiments, culminating in a large protest in the capital Giovannia, which Raffella ordered suppressed. By the end of his reign, it became clear that she was unsuccessful in her attempts to decrease the unrest.

After Raffella's death in 1073, her son Vittor II inherited the throne but died under uncertain circumstances in September 1074, sparking a brief family dispute over succession. Independence movements capitalized on the confusion, leading to unrest until Matteo III secured the throne in March 1075. Fhaengshia's monarchy secretly returned from their centuries long exile, a mass movement of Glendulans to modern-day Blue Bubble led to the formation of the Glenpavian Group, Hisamatsu Jin gathered like-minded people to discuss independence for Minsu, and Khan Daichin II launched an Ardalan and Ulergean rebellion. The latter insurgency threatened the Lido Flavi and Terra Violeta colonies, nearly reaching Andoliavilla before imperial troops led by Generals Gigero and Hettor turned the tide and quelled the revolt in 1079.

Besides overcoming the rebellion, the young Matteo III enacted policies that successfully reduced the economic downturn. However he only came to rule until 1084, when he was poisoned due to family intrigue and his brother Kassio took the throne. Kassio's stubborn actions raised the unrest to unforeseen levels, starting with the Colony of Fhaengshia rising in rebellion two years later with encouragement from their native monarchy. Imperial troops unsuccessfully tried to contain the rebellion, and it soon spread to the neighboring Colony of Doruna, since many Fhaengshians had also settled there during colonial rule. Furthermore, the Glendulan and Minsunese were also appalled by the fact many of them had died in combat during this and previous rebellions, adding another reason for their independence demands.

Hisamatsu Jin met with the Glenpavian Group in 1089, and the following year saw both Blue Bubble and Minsu launch their rebellions, which the Giovannian army failed to contain. Kassio wanted to continue trying to defeat the independence movements, but by mid-1091 it became clear that the situation was no longer salvageable. A coup replaced Kassio with Pietro I, who recognized the independence of Blue Bubble, Fhaengshia and Minsu, and also signed the Tri-Lavender Treaty with the two other Lavender Island nations in 1094, accepting them as equals and agreeing to pay reparations. During the later years of Pietro's reign, border clashes with Minsu happened and led to the formation of the modern-day border.

12th century: consolidation of modern-day Giovanniland

The next empress Lodena ruled from 1113 to 1132, and has a controversial legacy for enacting policies in favor of ethnic persecution, displacement and forced cultural assimilation in the remaining Andolian colonies, as she feared losing these lands for two main reasons. The first was that, although the indigenous population had decreased since the 8th centuries due to the wars of conquest and forced labor within the Empire, it was still a significant number that could also rise in new revolts like the previous Ardalan insurgency led by Khan Daichin II. The second is that the remaining areas included fertile farmlands and profitable mining operations important for the imperial economy, most notably in modern-day Giovandolia.

The policies started by Lodena and continued for almost 200 years until their abandonment in the early 14th century were very harsh to the indigenous populations, becoming known as the Two Centuries of Terror. For example the Bereme, already outnumbered in their native lands, endured further cultural assimilation since traditional temples were replaced with Giovannese-built churches, and many ancient documents about religion and science were burned due to accusations of idolatry and witchcraft. The Emüne faced a similar situation in the south, their relative remoteness in comparison to the other groups not being enough to stop Giovannese settlers, while the Ardala and Ulerge were punished even more due to Khan Daichin II's revolt, their rich literary traditions heavily persecuted. New towns were built with Giovannese urban planning, including schools, churches and plazas to promote Giovannese cultural norms. They came to be where a majority of these groups were made to live, distant from their traditional cultures and religions as well as forbidden from speaking their native languages, although some instead escaped to remote regions.

In the west, the Varanians were notable for the religious practices of the Mauvist Church. Given the importance of the meat tree species to them, a deforestation campaign happened in the imperial territories, as part of efforts to suppress their culture and clear more land for agriculture. However, the lands of modern-day southern Varanius weren't controlled by the Giovannian Empire, and the northern peoples also resisted, so the attempts in stamping out their culture and religion were eventually unsuccessful and Varanius later became independent. On the other hand, the greater presence of Giovannese settlers in modern-day Giovandolia and the success of cultural assimilation there paved the way for its transformation from colony to an integral part of Giovanniland later, outlasting the Empire.

Lodena's younger brother Dorzio II ruled for four years after her death, notable for the reorganization of administrative division borders by introducing a system that is still used today—regions continued as first-level divisions although new ones were created, while urban and rural municipalities were formed as second-level divisions. His son Matteo IV then ruled from 1132 to 1169, famous for the Mattenian Renaissance during which the Empire regained cultural and economical strength, and had several decades without major internal conflicts. He also built upon the work of his two predecessors that had opened relations with Minsu and Blue Bubble, and worked towards the formation of friendly ties, which was achieved towards the end of his reign. The following reigns of Giovanni IV (1169-1187) and Amanda II (1187-1192) continued these core principles and also made the first steps for the eventual industrialization of Giovanniland.

13th century: later independence movements and transition to Kingdom

Unfortunately, a new period of turmoil started when Amanda II was assassinated in 1192 due to family intrigue. Her younger brother Tassio ruled for four years but abdicated, and things went worse during the rule of Pietro II (1196-1202), who faced a major rebellion in northern Varanius that threatened to spill to the rest of the Colony of Lido Flavi. Pietro's strategies were unable to quell the revolt, and the situation was left to Emperor Tommaso III to solve, who recognized the independence of Varanius in 1204. Over the following years Tommaso also signed decolonization treaties for most of the imperial trading posts, handing them over to native control and stabilizing the Empire.

Tommaso's son Abrelio II then inherited the throne in 1217, and given popular pressure as well as the need for national modernization, Abrelio relinquished part of his power to become a semi-constitutional monarch. Equal status was granted by him to Auran and Andolian Giovanniland, abolishing the colonies of Lido Flavi and Terra Violeta and replacing them with regular regions, administered in the same way as the Lavender Island ones. Last but not least, he also changed his own title from Emperor to King, reflecting the change in government structure and marking the transition between the Giovannian Empire and the modern Kingdom of Giovanniland in 1225.

TVNC - Reviewing the match; Round of 16

The broadcast would start in the studio, after Railo, Eiva and Tixica had watched the match and prepared to give their opinions on it.

[Railo]: I didn't expect that Divarra drop goal in the last minute.

[Eiva]: It was great, they were already starting to go defensive so it was a pleasant surprise.

[Railo]: Indeed, anyways. Good evening ladies and gentlemen! And welcome back to the TVNC transmissions on the 5th Rugby World Cup, im Tivan Railo, and as usual on this program ill be joined by my coworkers: Nixta Eiva and Marco Tixica, we'll continue from where we left off last time, as we'll be reviewing the match that Ryxtylopia had with Sekiya earlier, as well as checking in on some of the other teams present for the quarter-finals.

[Tixica]: I came out of that match satisfied, it felt very odd as all the round of 16 matches, well maybe except for Cambria v Ostronia, were very close.

[Eiva]: They were, in our case we won 18-14 against the Sekiyan Rocks.

[Railo]: And what do you think we can add to the conversation that hasn't been said on social media already?

[Tixica]: Well, the first 20 or so minutes of the game were AN ABSOLUTE CHAOS!

[Eiva]: I think that overexaggerates, but just a bit.

[Railo]: We did see a lot of back and forths until that drop goal by Guilbirto.

[Eiva]: Amaizing way to score that finally got us off the couch in celebration, Sekiya did play very agressiveley like most people predicted, they're not really too scared to go up against stronger sides, and i mean good for them, but sometimes that does cost them.

[Tixica]: I respect it, who cares if you're facing Einherfell or Teralyon?! Just go in and score!

[Railo]: I think the point Eiva was trying to get across is that they can frecuently loose possetion and overextend, which did happen on several occations in this match.

[Eiva]: Now, another thing: Palmiras' conversion miss in the 36th, that's stirred up quite the talk here.

[Tixica]: She just put too much force in her kick, which lead the ball away from the two posts, i don't blame her.

[Railo]: But in an intense match, mistakes like that can cost you, you saw the very close results like Dalimbar v H&J, and Zoran v Fujai, when it comes to elimination rounds, mistakes like that can cost you making the round.

[Tixica]: Fell enough, but i feel like people needa chill out, it was just a miss! Plus we didn't loose the game so its fiiiiiiiiiineeeee!

[Railo]: And if we had lost the game by a point? In a hypothetical where her not scoring would've sent us home.

[Tixica]: Then in that case its not fine and she should be hanged for her crimes!

Eiva facepalms herself.

[Eiva]: Well, at least you get Railo's point.

[Tixica]: I do! But people are getting too mad about the situation, like just chill out, we won the game, she doesn't need to be pebbled at the airport!

[Railo]: But- Ugh nevermind... Hm. What about Darrias' performance in this match?

[Tixica]: Like that guy said in the interview earlier, proved to be a key player! Scoring a try, and allowing Huilchica to convert.

[Eiva]: He did have a great match, with decent opportunities, and that try that allowed us to advance.

[Railo]: Huilchica and Guilbirto also proved essencial, and we can't ignore everybody in the back; Zicha, Va'atí, Tivaña, Patochá, Mataña and Rivas...

[Eiva]: All the team cooperated, even if some did better than others.

[Railo]: In the end we got the result, however i think they could've gone for more, i get them tryna protect the lead but, they also gave Sekiya the possetion they needed to start scoring, which could've cost us the game.

[Tixica]: Itsssssssss fineeeeee, they did well enough.

[Eiva]: And what about our quarter final opponents, Giovanniland?

[Railo]: Well, they had a similar time than us, but in a different way as they triumphed 6-0 over Larxia, Larxia found a decent ammount of opportunities that they weren't able to convert, Giovanniland did get just enough, even if they didn't score a try.

[Eiva]: Something funny about them is that they sorta play similar-ish to us, if you combined our team with the zoranians you would get Giovanniland's team.

[Tixica]: One very good way to put it!

[Railo]: They play semi-offensiveley but they can also hold their own in defense and in retaining possetion.

[Eiva]: A tough rival but fitting considering how the competition advances, they'll probably not let us have it easy as they want to improve on their performance since they exited in the round of 16 in Dalimbar.

[Railo]: And what is it in for this match?

[Eiva]: Hard to tell.

[Tixica]: Absolute pandemonium!!

[Railo]: Uh- Well i think we can expect a lot of possetion changes, and not a lot of scoring.

[Eiva]: I mean both squads do have a similar level, they'll probably not play too agressivley and neither wont we, both sides could try to play for possetion but that'll be hard, so i think we could expect a slower buildup for each play that happens.

[Railo]: Fair point, anyways its time we contact Gaíves.

[Tixica]: Hooray!

[Eiva]: Give me a second then... there we go!

The casters start the video call with Gaíves and the camera crew in Overthinkers.

[Tixica]: GAÍVES! How was the game?

[Gaíves]: Hello TVNC! Oh the game was pretty good to watch! I froze when Sekiya came within a point of the tie, it was close but we got through just fine.

[Railo]: The atmosphere?

[Gaíves]: As usual, they had the flags... the drums... it was very loud.

[Eiva]: And the players?

[Gaíves]: Well if you haven't noticed we're here with em! Just was waiting for you to set up the connection!

[Eiva]: Oh, sorry for the delay then.

[Gaíves]: You're good, ill see who's willing to give an opinion then.

Gaíves heads up to some of the players, starting with Pailo Darrias.

[Gaíves]: Excuse me, how was today's match?

[P. Darrias]: Oh, it was- intense, i sweated a lot, i ran a lot, i got tackled a lot but we pulled through, building up for that try i scored wasn't it easy but it was worth it.

[R. Huilchica]: You can say that again!

Laughter

[P. Darrias]: Hah, well but Sekiya did play very agressivley, they took any chance they could, and they almost tied us, we had to hold, and push back, while we were able to retain possetion, it was hard.

[Gaíves]: Well at least you won, how about your teamates?

[P. Darrias]: I couldn't ask for better teamates, Huilchica and Guilbirto are not just amaizing teamates but amaizing friends of mine!

[Gaíves]: Really?

[P. Darrias]: We all used to play at Chacas, we got to know eachother, and they always aid me in attack, i always aid them, not to brag but we're probably one of the best left wings of this RWC, and i cannot talk about teamates without talking about our defenders, which while i dont know them as well as my 2 friends here, i can still say they're amaizing at keeping our back safe and retaking possetion.

[Gaíves]: I might go with Rivas next.

[P. Darrias]: I respect him a lot, one of our "older" folk here.

[Gaíves]: And what about the upcomming match against Giovanniland?

[P. Darrias]: It will be hard, but we can get through it, they seem like a more balanced side than Sekiya so playing for possetion might not affect them as much, whatever the tactic we take we wanna go in for the win and have a chance at the finals.

[Gaíves]: Alright thanks for your time!

Gaíves would then approach Ernysto Rivas, the team's fullback.

[Gaíves]: Hello! Mind if i ask a few questions?

[E. Rivas]: Go ahead.

[Gaíves]: What are your thoughts on the match against Sekiya.

[E. Rivas]: Intense, i got to be very active, we held pretty well in the first half, by the second is when they started to have more opportunities to score.

[Gaíves]: Are you happy with the result?

[E. Rivas]: Oh, yes! Of course, but for me it was a bit close for comfort especially for an elimination round, tho to be fair, we weren't the only ones to have a hard fought match this day.

[Gaíves]: You think your teamates did a good job?

[E. Rivas]: They defended well! I only had to interviene in a few opportunities on the first half, and they got us the advantage we needed, we also all coordinated pretty well.

[Gaíves]: That's good, and what are your expectations for the match against Giovanniland?

[E. Rivas]: Oh it will be a "busy" day for me, hopefully we make it, Giovanniland isn't as agressive as Sekiya, but they can still be a dangerous foe, they denied Larxia any points, however i think we can beat them, and hopefully make the finals.

[Gaíves]: Alright, any other comments?

[E. Rivas]: Thanks for the nice comments ive heard people on social media make about my last minute stop that time in the match, it was probably one of my highpoints with the team.

[Gaíves]: Alright, and i thank you for letting them know you're greatful, have a nice day!

Gaíves would finally head towards Tivarra, the team's coach.

[Gaíves]: Tivarra! Excuse me, thoughts on the match?

[Tivarra]: Oh, well it was hard fought more than anything, like i thought they went agressive, no idea what their coach is thinking, its honestly impressive how they can still retain an attack against stronger teams, cost them possetion a lot.

[Gaíves]: What about your team's performance.

[Tivarra]: Whilst i expected a bit more, id say it was solid; we denied our rivals possetion for the first half, had and converted our chances, and held their attack at bay, there are sections for improvement but im satisfied with the performance today.

[Gaíves]: And what about the upcomming quarterfinals?

[Tivarra]: Im more relaxed than in the RWC4 quarterfinals, but i think there is room for improvement, ill debrief the team on our tactics for the match which unfortunatley i can't reveal while live in television, hope you understand.

[Gaíves]: Oh i do.

[Tivarra]: Giovanniland will be a tough opponent, but we have the capacity to beat them, however they also have the capacity to beat us, so we'll need to act in a way that aids us get the win, i trust in my team and hopefully we'll improve on last year's performance.

[Gaíves]: Alright, thanks for your time!

[Gaíves]: Well that'll be all for now studio folk! We had questions and we got our answers.

[Railo]: Alright thank you again Gaíves! We'll cya soon!

[Gaíves]: Goodbye, have a nice day!

The video call ends.

[Tixica]: If we reach the final im going down there for sure.

[Railo]: IF, okay... only IF.

[Eiva]: Well that was a pretty successful round of interviewing id say.

[Tixica]: Can't wait for the matchday, im nervous!

[Railo]: Rightfully so.

[Eiva]: If they say they got it i trust them, we'll be watching from home.

[Railo]: Yes, we will but that will mark the end of today's transmission!

[Tixica]: Can i do the sign off?

[Railo]: Only this time.

[Tixica]: Alright, everybody! Thanks for watching TVNC! You've just seen me, Railo and Eiva discuss very important sports stuff for like an hour or something, but i hope you enjoyed this, we'll be back soon for the match against Giovanniland, where i hopefully wont miss the first 15 minutes, since last time SOMEONE made me get some annoying drinks.

[Eiva]: It was deserved.

[Railo]: That went better than expected, well we'll see ya soon folks.

The camera zooms out as the TVNC music plays, soon after the transmission ends.

Political Discussion on Arifiyyah's Recent Reforms

Interviewer: Good evening, everyone. Welcome to "Political Insights." Tonight, we have an engaging discussion about the recent constitutional reforms in Arifiyyah, where our proudly young king, Sultan Arif Nazhim Shah, has been making significant changes. Our guests tonight are two distinguished political analysts, Mr. Karim Abdullah and Ms. Laila Rahman. Thank you both for joining us.

Mr. Karim Abdullah: Thank you for having me.

Ms. Laila Rahman: It’s a pleasure to be here.

Interviewer: Let's dive right in. Sultan Arif Nazhim Shah, the fourth sultan in the history of Arifiyyah, has been undertaking substantial constitutional reforms. One notable action is reducing the executive and parliament's powers on foreign policy. Some view this as a move to restore the monarchy's full power, despite the Sultan's denial. Mr. Abdullah, what’s your take on this?

Mr. Karim Abdullah: Well, it’s quite evident that the Sultan is steering the country in a direction where the monarchy holds more sway. While he denies wanting to restore the full power of the monarchy, his actions suggest otherwise. This move can be seen as a step back from democratic processes, potentially undermining the checks and balances that are crucial in modern governance.

Interviewer: Ms. Rahman, do you share this view?

Ms. Laila Rahman: I do see where Mr. Abdullah is coming from, but I believe there’s a different perspective to consider. Sultan Arif Nazhim Shah is a young and dynamic leader. His reforms might be an attempt to streamline foreign policy decisions, ensuring that Arifiyyah can respond more swiftly and effectively to global challenges. Given that over 80% of our population lives in urban areas, a more centralized approach could lead to better-coordinated and faster responses in international matters.

Interviewer: Interesting points. Mr. Abdullah, what about the concerns from the radical opposition? They seem particularly worried about these changes.

Mr. Karim Abdullah: The radical opposition has valid concerns. The reduction of parliamentary power can be seen as an erosion of democratic principles. It sets a dangerous precedent where the monarchy can unilaterally make decisions without sufficient oversight or input from elected representatives. This could lead to a concentration of power that may not always act in the best interest of the people.

Ms. Laila Rahman: I agree that checks and balances are essential. However, we must also acknowledge the unique historical and cultural context of Arifiyyah. The monarchy has always played a significant role in our nation's identity. The Sultan’s actions might be aimed at preserving that heritage while also pushing the country forward. It’s a delicate balance, and while there are risks, there’s also potential for significant positive impact.

Interviewer: The people of Arifiyyah haven’t reacted strongly to these changes yet. What do you think this silence indicates?

Ms. Laila Rahman: It might indicate a level of trust and respect that the populace has for Sultan Arif Nazhim Shah. His leadership style and vision for the country could be resonating well with the citizens. Alternatively, it could also mean that people are still trying to understand the full implications of these reforms.

Mr. Karim Abdullah: Or it could be a sign of apprehension. People might be waiting to see how these changes play out before expressing their opinions. In a semi-absolute monarchy, voicing dissent can be risky, so there might be an undercurrent of concern that isn’t being openly expressed.

Interviewer: In closing, what would you say is the best way forward for Arifiyyah, considering these recent reforms?

Ms. Laila Rahman: I believe the best way forward is a balanced approach. The Sultan should continue his reforms but ensure that there is adequate consultation with the executive and parliament. This way, we can achieve both efficiency and maintain democratic integrity.

Mr. Karim Abdullah: I agree. It’s crucial for the Sultan to engage with all political factions and the public. Transparency and dialogue will be key in navigating these reforms and ensuring that they truly benefit Arifiyyah as a whole.

Interviewer: Thank you both for your insightful perspectives. This concludes our discussion on the recent constitutional reforms in Arifiyyah. Stay tuned for more updates on this evolving story. Good night.

13th-century Giovanniland

Modern%20factbook.svg

The post-imperial borders of Giovanniland and its neighbors.

Industrialization Period (1225-1261)

Giovanniland officially became a semi-constitutional monarchy in 15th June 1225, after which Abrelio II ruled as King. The Senato was now elected by popular vote under this new system, but the monarch retained the power to appoint any senator as Prime Minister, according to his or her best judgment of who might form the best cabinet. Abrelio II chose Vinikio de Abreo-Florino from the Partito Konservator as the first Prime Minister of Giovanniland, who was an entrepreneur active in the rising industrialization happening in various major cities. The King directed him to place Giovanniland on the path of becoming fully industrialized, and also reworked various government institutions and codified the basic rules of the election process, such as senators being elected by region and serving for at most five years.

The major political parties were the Konservator and Violetista to the right, who won the first two elections in 1225 and 1230, while closer to the center there were the Librale and Demokrata parties in the opposition. Flavia Dolkari (Librale) became Prime Minister after the 1235 election, and she was a skilled diplomat that focused on expanding foreign relations and adapting Giovanniland to a new era in the international stage. She was followed in 1239 by Tommaso de Abreo-Florino (Konservator), Vinikio's younger brother, who continued the industrial push and achieved significant nationwide industrialization, as well as updating of the Tri-Lavender Treaty into a stronger version, with more cooperation between the three Lavender Island nations. Although Tommaso remained in power after the 1244 elections, he resigned in 1247. Meanwhile, Abrelio II died in 1250 and was succeeded by his daughter Nyima IV.

Klaudia Pelkarma-Valeriani (Librale) was chosen as Prime Minister thereafter, aiming for a more social premiership, so profit from industrialization was used for infrastructure projects to benefit the population, like a new road system. Her second term in 1252 saw a mining boom, but it was interrupted by infighting within the Partito Librale, and Queen Nyima IV replaced her with Paulo Zerino Severi (Violetista) who led a minority government and sought to advance rural landowners' interests. He was succeeded less than two years later by Gioseppe Erdene (Librale), the first prime minister from Giovandolia. Gioseppe had the goal of reducing trans-Darkesian economic disparity, and he was aided by the discovery of new mineral fields in Giovandolia as well as good industrial performance.

Right-wing era (1261-1295)

Giovannilandian politics were then dominated by the right-wing for the next three decades. Notably, the Partito Librale shifted to the right and joined the Konservator-Violetista coalitions, leaving the center-left Demokrata and later the left-wing Labrista parties in the opposition. The appointment of Zelya Amafinia Gellio (Konservator) as Prime Minister in 1261 inaugurated this era, and her first term was a prosperous time with the modernization of cities at full speed. Nyima IV also supported her goals of starting the a construction of a grand railway network to facilitate commerce, with Giovannia, Porto Violeto and Andoliavilla as the main hubs.

Zelya remained prime minister in 1275, continuing in power after two more elections since she also earned the trust of the new monarch, Giovanni V who succeeded his older sister Nyima in 1271. The next two prime ministers appointed by the King were Emilio Neurino-Dazano (Violetista) in 1280 and Tiberio Quorivani (Librale) in 1285, two terms with strong economic growth and the introduction of electricity in Giovanniland. Even greater economic performance happened during the ten years of Tiberio's successor, Quirina Kornelio-Arbone from the Konservator party.

Throughout his reign, King Giovanni V ensured that these modernization projects were carried out to their fullest extent, besides guaranteeing the continuity between the prime ministers' policies. The result was a time of economic prosperity, rapid urbanization, infrastructure modernization, and last but not least technological, scientific, and cultural innovations. Giovanniland developed greatly in regards to these aspects during this period, however social movements rose at the turn of the century and the right wing started to lose popular support. This showed the need for a different kind of development that would then shape national politics during the 14th century, together with the reign of a new monarch beginning in 1292, Zodeno III the son of Giovanni V.

TOURIST CONGESTION - ¿ARE THE LOCALS OVEREXAGGERATING OR NOT?

Several States: With tourist season rapidly approaching in Ryxtylopia, many locals prepare, buisnesses restock and hotels prepare deals, however many other locals don't prepare and in fact complain about the tourist presence. Many others will say the tourist presence is a good thing, while some people in the most touristed areas of Ryxtylopia claim its annoying, as tourists can be not be annoying by themselves, but cause disrruptions to the local way of life during tourist season.

The tourist presence for many regions in Ryxtylopia is what keeps the economy afloat, mainly in island or costal regions, especially in smaller towns that lack large companies to give them work and generate income; for a lot of small towns its a lifeline of income, and many small industries in Ryxtylopia revolve around tourism. Tourists from many places enjoy Ryxtylopia either due to pristine natural enviroments, to take a look at historic sights and buildings, or beacause its a good deal for the price, its one of the cheaper places to go as a tourist if you do plan to take a trip, at least by developed country standards.

Se eleva el gasto del turista promedio en Cancún: MKTHowever for many locals this also comes with disadvantages mainly for those not directly or indirectly beneffited from the tourism industry, tourism can bring many problems to certain areas, and locals can pretty quickly get sick of them.

One of the most prominant ones is that tourists lead to a raise in prices for commodities and services, which for the is usually not a problem, but for locals it can prove to be a problem, not only this, another serious problem when it comes to overturisting, especially in large cities, is traffic, both vehicle and pedestrian related, in areas with a lot of tourists traffic levels tend to spike, and last but very much not least the ocational annoying and/or entitled tourists, loud party goers and ever demanding ladies who want to be treated as queens. And then there's the moral issue that some tourists aren't the most "educated" as the issue of disrespect towards local customs and traditions in some areas has been made apparent and has been called out by both individuals, and local organizations.

For some people the excess in tourists can feel like an invasion at times, but as said previously for others it can bring money, restaurants can fill their seats with people looking to try out local cuisine, hotels can fully book out their rooms and make proffit, souvenirs and gifts are sold in greater magnitudes, the list of beneffits goes on.

Tourism can bring huge beneffits, however the impact excess in tourism has on small and large communities, and the fact that not all people beneffit from tourism causes the phenomenon where locals come to hate tourists and tend to enjoy the lesser touristed months before vacation season.

RSCBanderas.jpg.bb9c4ed855b8e7e879a1180500ba96e7.jpgRYXTYLOPIA TO FACE GIOVANNILAND IN RWC5 QUARTER-FINALS

Overthinkers: The 5th Rugby World Cup continues in the Andolian nation of Overthinkers, were Ryxtylopia successfully got over Sekiya in the round of 16, and will prepare to face fellow Auran side Giovanniland in the quarterfinals in a match that has promised to be decisive and intense for both sides, with both teams having great level and a similar playstyle, a match that could have the potential to send Ryxtylopia to another semi-final ever since the debut in RWC4.

For Ryxtylopia, qualification was achieved after 80 minutes in a match against Sekiya, where the rivals of the ARR played a very risky agressive playstyle which aided them in pressuring but lead to the loss in many occations of possetion, which let the ARR score enough to edge over the Sekiyan Rocks with the final score being 18-14.

Giovanniland on the other hand had its own intense battle to reach the quarter finals, after achieving underwhealming results in Dalimbar; but under the lead of coach: Gyalsena Vatinio-Messalla they finished second in group D, and faced Larxia who placed 3rd in group A, their match was intense, with no tries scored by either side. However the Giovannilandians were able to hold off the Larxian attack, which resulted in Larxia not scoring any points, while Giovanniland was able to get 6 on the board' leaving it 6-0 in favor of the Aurans.

Both sides have a lot on the line, Ryxtylopia's objective is to reach the final, as set by tivarra and the ARR ever since the performance in the last RWC, whilst Giovanniland would seek to keep improving their performance in this RWC, as in the last RWC they had a mediocre run, but in the end they already out-performed their run last year.

Neverminding the result, the winner of this match will get a decent shot at the finals, and will face either the hosts Overthinkers or Polari team: United Adaikes. The match will be one of the best in terms of level for both teams yet, and despite the overwhealming advantage the Giovannilandians will have when it comes to support, as Giovanniland is closer to Overthinkers, the ARR is hopeful they'll make it to the semi-finals.

Why widening hill roads is not always good for the mountains | India News - Times of IndiaPROGRESS ON THE KIL'NICÁ HIGHWAY HALTED AGAIN

Kil'nicá, Cantríxa: The still long awaited highway to Kil'nicá continues to be built and continues to face constant delays, a project started about 8 years ago promised to be finished in 2 years that has now been 6 years due and gone way overbudget, this time due to poor weather causing the ground to become soggy, and difficult to build on.

The road project known as the Kil'nicá road, oficially reffered to as the Kil'nicá-Ka'alvaña Highway, is a road project located in Cantríxa, in the central hilly and mountainous part of Cantríxa state, the road meant to connect one side of the Ryxtylopian roadnetwork to the other, and cut travel times, however this ultimate dream has always been delayed and delayed.

The main reason for it being built is to better connect Kil'nicá the largest inland city in Ryxtylopia, with the rest of the country, and to provide a coast to coast connection in the south, as all the coast to coast connections by road and rail currently available are in the north. This would've provided a highway between the towns of Ka'alvaña and Culcha'añaca, in Cantríxa and Talaxachá states, the highway would've gone through Kil'nicá and Pasí di Valtachá, however only the portion of the highway between Pasí di Valtachá and Culcha'añaca was ever completed, the other half that would've gone through unfriendly terrain between Pasí di Valtachá through Kil'nicá and all the way to Ka'alvaña is still under construction.

Reactions to the delay are unsurprised ones, as this project has been seen as a failure, or a money laundering scheme for the politicians who proposed it. There are genuine reasons for the constant delays as landslides, poor weather and engineering oversights, but other less valid reasons for delay are also present, and there have been periods where the workers working on the project have gone without making any progress, or have just gone home.

In the end this highway will likley at some point be finished, however if that point is in a few months, or several more years isn't known, it will bring beneffits, but the time and cost it has taken so far already means it will take several years to repay its extremly overbudget cost with the limited economic beneffits it brings to the region.

Canal 7 Dyportes - The Quarterfinals; from now on it only gets more intense!

There would be a brief introduction, with a heavily autotuned voice:

"In Channel 7 we bring you the best information for your viewing, CHANNEL 7!"

Soon after the brief introduction the transmission would begin with a man sat at a desk.

"Good afternoon everybody, welcome to Channel 7 SPORTS, the best sporting news in the entire northern half of Aura, im Inrique Miravez today's host, and as many of you have been expecting, today we're taking a dive into the Rugby World Cup being hosted in Overthinkers!"

"The ARR beat Sekiya 18-14 meaning we'll be up against Giovanniland, a strong opponent that promises a hard fought an intense game similar to the Sekiya one but with a different flavor! Giovanniland achieves its pass to the quarters after beating Larxia 6-0, not scoring any tries but not allowing Larxia to get even a single point on the board! Everybody's on their edge for this match, but it isn't the only one in the quarterfinals, i think its time that we take a dive into the other 3 matches for the quarter finals of this Rugby World Cup!"

"We'll start with..."

OTKVSUAD.thumb.png.3c2b0578a787437e9a3c9ce5645f57e6.png

Overthinkers VS United Adaikes

"The hosts continue on their path to greatness, but they will have to face a familiar foe from the last RWC, and from the same round too: UNITED ADAIKES!"

"Last time theese two met in Dalimbar, they gave us a match to remember, with Overthinkers having been the surprise of the tournament at that point, but then loosing by ONE POINT to the sharks. For them it was a sad day, being so close to the semis, as the adaikesians reached the semis to knock Ryxtylopia out and then move on to the final where they lost to Dalimbar."

"However this time things may be different as Overthinkers being locals will have a slight advantage in their own home, with their fans there to support them and they'll sure be seeking revenge, so lets take a look at their squads and how the game may develop."

Overthinkers:

"Under coach: Anton Edwards; Overthinkers has seen great success in rugby, topping their group this year, they have more agressive playstyle than United Adaikes, very similar to teams like Zoran, and Peourouin, but still not to the level of agressiveness Sekiya has in their game. Agressive teams usually beneffit from high possetion percentages and the ability to convert their chances, if they struggle with those two their game can quickly go south for them."

United Adaikes:

"Under coach: Ferne Huxtable; United Adaikes seeks to reach another RWC final, in the group stage they got 2nd place, and have a similar playstyle to teams like Teralyon and Ryxtylopia. Balanced teams usually get less chances than agressive teams, but they have an easier time defending and can build up their chances better than over-agressive or over-defensive sides. However if a balanced team doesn't have a clear goal in mind or good coordination between their attack and defense they can have a hard time scoring or defending, even with the possetion advantage.

The Game:

"As for the game itself, Overthinkers will probably try to attack early, get an advantage and keep pressuring the adaikesians to keep them on the defense and deny them the opportunity to attack, while the Sharks might try to deny the Kites' the possetion they need to attack, giving them time to build up their plays. Its hard to say which way it will go, however considering Overthinkers are the locals, they will have the pressure to win, which could put them at nerves or could fill them with the determination necessary to get their revenge."

RXYVSGIO.thumb.png.edf8581510ed0d6bab3970e153eaac51.png

Ryxtylopia VS Giovanniland

"The Pirates prepare to face their toughest opponent yet, and it will be none other than Giovanniland!"

"Ryxtylopia and Giovanniland have not met in a previous RWC, as in Ryxtylopia's RWC4 debut, they got different groups, and Giovanniland got knocked out in the Round of 16."

"So as they prepare to meet for the first time in the RWC, both sides will have victory in mind, Giovanniland being closer to Overthinkers might have the advantage when it comes to fans, but ryxtylopian fans can be pretty loud when they need to, so we'll have to see who can get an advantage."

Ryxtylopia:

"The Pirates want to make it to the finals this year, but it will be hard, however under coach: Andreís Tivarra they have reached some of the greatest glories in Rugby, most notably knocking 2 time champions: Zoran in the quarterfinals of RWC4 and getting 3rd place, this time around they finished first in their group. They have a balanced playstyle, similar very similar to Teralyon, balanced teams usually rely on building up their plays, and defending against pressure from their opponents, if Ryxtylopia fails either of theese they'll probably be out."

Giovanniland:

"For Giovanniland, coach: Gyalsena Vatinio-Messalla has allowed them to get over the groups in second, and the round of 16, improving on their performance last year. They play Semi-Agressivley, which means like more agressive sides, they feel comfortable with possetion, however they usually hold back on attacking unless the chance is clear and good enough, they also have an easier time defending. If they find enough chances to strike or are able to pressure their rivals they'll be through, if they go too cautious on the attack, their defense could start to struggle."

The Game:

"For the game, we can expect a lot of possetion changes as both teams have solid defenses and attacks, with Giovanniland probably trying to apply more pressure to Ryxtylopia to keep them on the backfoot, whilst Ryxtylopia would probably play for possetion, and a steady buildup to their plays, that'll give them the best chances to get a lead and hold it. Depending on who is able to do their part better the match could go in any way, either favoring Giovanniland or Ryxtylopia.

TRL VS KCM.png

Teralyon VS Cambria

"We get another quarterfinals rematch from last year: Cambria vs Teralyon!"

"Theese two met last year in the quarterfinals, where the Cambrian team won 15-7 over the Teralyians, as they moved on to the semis to loose to hosts and eventual winners: Dalimbar."

"This time however, Teralyon looks way more prepared, as they're on a roll, continuing their 7-game winstreak, dominating their groups without a single loss and acheiving the victory over Saint Mark! The cambrians better watch out, as they'll probably seek their revenge for last year."

Teralyon:

"As said before, thanks to their players and coaches: Maldoc Wenavic and Vush Brajna, Teralyon have entered a winning streak, not possesing a single loss to their name since the tournament's start, easily topping their group. Their playstyle very similar to Ryxtylopia's and United Adaikes, a balanced one slightly in favor of attacking, this has worked for them very well so far. As said before teams with balanced playstyles usually like to build up their attacks and defending pressure from rivals. If they can't do either they'll struggle."

Cambria:

"The Cambrians seek to make the finals after loosing in the semis last year. And under coaches: Kees Gordon and Wolf Bruijs they've made good progress, finishing second in their group and beating Ostronia with a comfy margin. Now they face what could potentially be their toughest rival in the competition, the Cambrians have an agressive playstyle, between Zoran and Sekiya in terms of agressiveness. They'll need possetion and a lot of it to open their attacks, and keep pressure on the enemy and not on their own defense. If they fail on that they'll be easy meat for Teralyon."

The Game:

"Its hard to say what will go down here, but Cambria if they have the opportunity will try to pressure Teralyon into defense, making sure to retain possetion as much as possible. For Teralyon the game will revolve around DENYING the cambrians possetion, to keep them on edge, and making them commit mistakes in attempts to regain possetion, this will allow give them the luxury to build their plays and get a favorable result."

DAL VS ZOR.png

Dalimbar VS Zoran

"Previous hosts and current champions: Dalimbar seek to advance, but they'll meet a rival that has given them headaches in the past: ZORAN!"

"They didn't meet in the last RWC, some would joke that's the only reason Dalimbar won but leaving jokes aside, Zoran would get knocked out in this round against Ryxtylopia, whilst Dalimbar would advance to win the whole thing against United Adaikes."

"The only clash between 2 previous champions in the quarter-finals, Dalimbar possesing 1 title and Zoran 2, the Dalimbari will sureley try to upset this unbalance and go for the win, so lets take a look at the teams and the match!"

Dalimbar:

"The Dalimbari side looks strong, and... fair enough they are REIGNING CHAMPIONS! But they risk loosing that title if they're not careful, their team is strong, but so is their opponent. Dalimbar is a balanced side, again very similar to Ryxtylopia, Teralyon and United Adaikes. They will beneffit from building up their plays, and holding their rivals at bay, considering they're up against Zoran, keeping possetion as long as possible will be vital. If they play correctly they'll have their revenge against a team that has beaten them in the past."

Zoran:

"The Zoranians are looking to taste a semi-final after loosing out in Dalimbar, being lead by coach: Amadahy Lvaguta, they'll probably seek out the victory at all costs, Dalimbar may be reigning champion, but Zoran having won the tournament twice in the past has the capacity to face the Dalimbari. Zoran plays semi-agressivley, and they can prove a threat given enough time by pressuring their rival's defense. If they succede and find good enough chances they can get their points, if their rival denies them possetion or breaks their defense, it will be over for the 2-time champions."

The Game:

"Our prediction for this game is similar to the one we stated bewtween Teralyon and Cambria, but in this case it would be Dalimbar who would need to play for possetion or make the zoranians waste their chances before counter-attacking, for Zoran the first half will be vital and probably decide the pace and path the game will take. The Dalimbari will probably also act more agressive than usual since they're up against a team that has cost them a final in the past, and they'll be out for revenge."

"And that's it for our program, we looked at each team, their matchup, their possible strategies, and possible game results for each of the matchups."

"Hopefully our side will go far, but it will be interesting to see the match results, we have many talented teams going at eachother, the result can only be entretaining ¿Who'll reach the final?"

"But that will be all for today's special. Ive been Inrique Miravez! Today's host, and i thank you for listening, and lending us your time to give you our take on this RWC! Have a good day."

Channel 7! Channel 7! Channel 7!

A short music theme plays as the camera zooms out, and the transmission ends.

Cambria's Queen
by Karl Kask

In Cambrian vales where ancient mountains rise,
And ocean’s roar meets with the morning’s sighs,
A realm exists where freedom’s spirit gleams,
And sovereign grace in people’s hearts it dreams.

No tyrant’s rod, no despot’s iron hand,
But equal rights across a bounteous land.
A queen there reigns, whose will is nature’s force,
Whose love, a sunbeam on life’s darkened course.

Her wrath, a tempest, shakes the earth and sea,
Yet tender mercies flow from her decree.
For in her heart, a boundless ocean swells,
Of empathy for all who hear her bells.

A democracy, where voices find their way,
And common good illuminates the day.
No caste, no creed, to dim the human spark,
But unity in purpose, bright and dark.

Oh, Cambria's Queen, whose wisdom guides the land,
A beacon shining on a distant strand.
May freedom’s flame forever brightly burn,
And love and justice to all hearts return.

Oh, Youth: A Eulogy

by Karl Kask

Oh, Youth, thou fleeting dream of morning light,
When hope's young bird sings on the soul's bright tree,
Ere shadows lengthen with the waning night,
Or life's tumultuous waves engulf the free.

Thy laughter, like a rippling, crystal stream,
Danced through the meadows of our careless years;
Thy spirit, buoyant as a morning dream,
Soared, unencumbered by the weight of fears.

But now, alas, the golden hours are fled,
And age's frost has crept upon my brow;
My comrades, like autumnal leaves, are shed,
And shadows lengthen where the sun shone low.

The world, once fresh and fair, is grown austere,
And toil's relentless hand has marked my frame;
No more the heart with youthful joy can cheer,
But mourns the glories of that vanished flame.

A Look into the Giovannilandian Energy Scene
by Amelia Ottaviani

aOy4dxV.jpeg

Hydropower is the largest contributor, although there are environmental concerns about it despite the renewable character of the energy produced.

To discuss the energy scene of Giovanniland, one must first know about the politics of the last eighty years. This was the time when the Partito Soquale-Verde (Green Social Party) rose to power, represented in the prime ministership for the first time by Markello Gile Abrente in 1347. The party continued relevant over the following decades, as the nation came to take a pivotal role in environmental protection internationally, and has also contributed recent prime ministers such as Amore Gile Abrente, Marko Sonserina-Zelya and Lukio Andago Ferrari.

Giovanniland transitioned away from fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas during the 14th century, and hydropower became the main energy source in the mid-century. The rivers flowing in the mountainous lands of Giovandolia were perfect for energy generation, while in Giovaura, despite the less mountainous topography, frequent rainfall and the construction of powerful dams made this energy transition possible.

As Giovanniland and Esferos further saw the need to combat the damage against the environment, more renewable energy alternatives started to rise, most notably solar and wind powers, as well as biomass. Nowadays, although hydropower is still the leading contributor to energy generation in Giovanniland, the Labrista-led government in coalition with the Soquale-Verde also recognizes its disadvantages such as loss of arable land, population displacement, and disruption of ecosystems, and the policies to phase it out as the main contributor are succeeding.

Their arguments are valid, especially due to environmental damage caused by the construction of dams and reservoirs, including the displacement of people and animals, habitat destruction, and the alteration of river ecosystems. However, the advantages should also be considered, such as the cost-effectiveness after facilities are built, and functioning around the clock. Currently, the figures stand at 31% hydropower, 30% solar power, 26% wind power, 10% biomass and other renewables, and 3% non-renewable for total energy generation.

VGI9iMK.png

Solar power is nearly tied with hydropower for energy share, and it's widely used in houses as well as other buildings across Giovanniland's cities.

One important aspect to consider is the conversion efficiency, a statistic in which hydropower has the other two squarely beat at the moment. Hydropower facilities can have an efficiency of up to 90%, with wind power averaging a respectable 40 to 50% and solar power trailing at around 15 to 20%. Although wind and solar power deal less damage to the environment, solar panels often take a large amount of space (though domestic use doesn't have this issue), and wind turbines can disturb wildlife.

Despite these shortcomings, it would be inappropriate not to mention the current technological progress spent to make wind and solar power more prevalent in Giovanniland. The nation has large amounts of coastline in the Darkesian Sea, both in the Auran and Andolian sides, therefore the government has been partnering with various private enterprises investing in offshore wind farms due to the fact wind speed is often higher at the sea. For solar power, Giovannilandian scientists have teamed up with foreign ones in research to combine multiple materials that each have the capability of absorbing certain parts of the solar spectrum, technologies that are now available in the market.

Furthermore, the public engagement with government policies is also a very important point. Net metering has become commonplace in Giovanniland, allowing for customers who install renewable sources such as solar panels at home to send any excess electricity generated back to the grid and receive a credit on their electricity bill. A recent bill seeks to encourage further adoption of solar power in particular by subsidizing panels, recognizing that they often still have fairly high costs.

Overall, the environmental policies of the last eight decades have ensured Giovanniland's status a leading nation in terms of renewable energy, and the current efforts promise to continue the path of good environmental protection in both Giovanniland and Esferos at-large, as successive governments have also made green politics an important part of the nation's diplomatic strategy.

0NMkhUp.png

Wind power is the third largest contributor, with offshore wind farms leading its increase.

Iconic Rugby Stadiums of Giovanniland: Part Six
Posted 11/07/1424

Welcome back to SporTravel's series about iconic rugby stadiums in Giovanniland! In honor of the 5th Rugby World Cup, where Giovanniland has seen an improved performance and is now in the quarterfinals, we are bringing back our feature that enjoyed high popularity in the previous Rugby World Cup.

Now that Giovanniland has eclipsed the team of Larxia 6-0, with a drop goal from Marko Telliano Ulpio and a penalty converted by Demetro Gianluka, they now face the previous cup's third best team, Ryxtylopia! We wish the Esquadra Nationale Giovanniterrana de Ovalsfera good luck in the upcoming match, and meanwhile, we'll talk about two interesting stadiums for the sixth edition of this series, both located in coastal cities.

IrNHmC9.png

Arena del Kapo, Portovini, Abrenosto - Capacity: 36,741

One of the southernmost stadiums in Auran Giovanniland, the Arena del Kapo is located on the largest city of the Abrentan Cape, as the name alludes to. This part of the Abrenosto region is a very common vacation destination, featuring some of the country’s most famous beaches as well as many notable resorts. A specific highlight of this host city are the vineyards near the city which lend Portovino its name! A few of them can be seen in the picture above together with the arena, on the northern outskirts of the city. As for the home team of this stadium, it's called Pavoni Portovinesi (Portovini Peacocks), currently playing in the second level of the national rugby league.

DPFXJSv.jpeg

Stadio Flaviano, Andoliavilla, Lido Flavi - Capacity: 82,224

This stadium's home team is one of the most successful rugby teams of the nation, the Aquile Andoliavillesi (Andoliaville Eagles), which has won the national league several times. The namesake of the stadium is Flavio, a general under Emperor Giovanni II the Great who led the first expedition to Andolia and later incorporated the northern coast, also named after him. Just like the stadium, the city where it's located is also the largest in Giovandolia, with 640,816 inhabitants. Andoliavilla certainly offers many historical tourist attractions, such as a vast museum, and serves as a starting point for tourists who want to explore the rest of the region, besides also having a very busy port just like Porto Violeto.

Thank you for reading another part of our series about showcasing rugby stadiums in Giovanniland! Feel free to wish the Giovannilandian national rugby team good luck in the quarterfinals match against Ryxtylopia, or post any suggestions for future rugby-themed articles. Remember, we accept suggestions for rugby stadiums in our official email, sportravel@giovamail.com!

TVNC - Preparing for the Quarters

The broadcast would start from a studio with a table in the center and Railo, Eiva and Tixica seated around it.

[Railo]: Camera's set?

[Eiva]: They're rolling, you can start.

[Railo]: Alright, good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to another TVNC game broadcast, im Tivan Railo, and as usual ill be joined by coworkers Nixta Eiva and Marco Tixica. Today we'll be preparing to watch RYXTYLOPIA VS GIOVANNILAND! In the 5th Rugby World Cup.

[Eiva]: Intense match ahead of us.

[Tixica]: This time i did bring the drinks in advance, don't worry.

[Eiva]: You were in charge of the snacks this time.

[Tixica]: ... Well [_____]

[Eiva]: Gotcha!

[Tixica]: Dont you do that ever again!!

[Railo]: Hah, good one Eiva. Anyways, both teams are preparing for the match! And its been anxiously waited for here! Giovanniland is one of our stronger rivals yet, maybe after Zoran.

[Tixica]: They got 2nd in their group, not bad.

[Eiva]: Denied Larxia any chances to score in their match, winning it 6-0!

[Railo]: A close match but they contained their rivals to get the win, now... What do you think will happen here?

[Eiva]: I don't know, Giovanniland isn't as agressive as Zoran, they like to buildup their plays or wait for better chances, and could be fine with containing like they did in the Larxia game.

[Tixica]: And what about our team?

[Eiva]: I bet they start out cautious, going to try for possetion sureley, but i can't tell, im not Tivarra.

[Railo]: That's not too far off from what i can see, Agressive teams depend a lot on possetion, but as i say Giovanniland, while an technically an agressive team, plays more cautiously, playing for possetion might not be enough, so i think they should wear them off instead of just holding the ball down or attempting to get the ball and possibly fail, giving Giovanniland the openings they need.

[Eiva]: Fair enough.

[Tixica]: And i know we're supposed to talk about our game, but im also going to be watching Overthinkers vs United Adaikes!

[Railo]: Why's that?

[Tixica]: Who doesn't like a little revenge story!

[Railo]: I would like to remind you all the quarterfinal matches except for ours is a revenge story in one way or another, i mean you got also Teralyon vs Cambria, and Dalimbar vs Zoran.

[Tixica]: But in the last RWC we were just so close to facing Overthinkers! We could've gotten a clash of the newcomers if it wasn't for those sharks!

[Railo]: Fair enough, they are hosts so they have a decent shot with all the support they'll be getting.

[Eiva]: Well, moving on im going to start the call with Gaíves.

[Tixica]: Lets go!

Eiva would start the video call with Gaíves and the camera crew.

[Gaíves]: Afternoon TVNC!

[Tixica]: Gaíves! What's up? What'cha got for us, give us stuff to report on!

[Railo]: Chill out Tixica!

[Gaíves]: Its fine Railo, well we got decent weather here, the team just arrived and they are discussing tactics as far as im aware, so it might take a bit until i can get any scoop. If i can even get one at all.

[Tixica]: Oh... And what's the atmosphere for the game?

[Gaíves]: Well, we already got some stadium chants going within the crowd, someone was caught trying to sneak flares into the stadium, a group from Pinilaca had some trouble getting all their flags in order, they wanted to make a green, blue and yellow mosaic with them, and that's about it- Oh! And someone set up a grill in the parking lot and now its full of people.

[Railo]: Sounds about like what i was expecting.

[Tixica]: The grill part sounds fun!

[Gaíves]: But yeah, i tried getting into the team's dressing room for interviewing but no luck in that front, so today ill have to dissapoint you, HOWEVER, we'll probably get something AFTER the match.

[Eiva]: Fair enough, they're probably talking important matchday strategy.

[Tixica]: Well since we wont get to interview the team, let us hear from yourselves go go, yes you too cameraman!

[Gaíves]: Uh, well im not really sure, Giovanniland pushes we defend??? Im not really a rugby numbers guy, its only a game after all?

[Tixica and Railo]: ONLY A GAME?!

[Tixica]: DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS ABOUT THE WORDS YOU'VE JUST SAID?!

[Railo]: Ill have to agree with Tixica here Gaíves, the Rugby World Cup is NOT just a game.

[Gaíves]: Well uh-

[Cameraman]: Sorry to interrupt boss, but the studio people are right.

[Gaíves]: Oh come on now you too?

An audible chuckle is heard from the cameraman and the audio crew.

[Tixica]: Hah, and what about everybody else?

[Cameraman]: I think we'll have a decent shot at the finals if we pass, but its going to be tough, i don't know if i would go too far by calling us favorites in the tournament, since we're really not.

[Audio man]: Agree with you, im excited, i would go with all the crowd i think the atmosphere's best there but i have to stay with ya, and it isn't bad, but if i could id go sit with everybody else, i even got a flag.

[Gaíves]: Didn't see that until now.

[Tixica]: Very cool!

[Gaíves]: Well, we're going to get snacks for the game, ill end this here, we'll be shortly back after the game finishes tho! I hope you all studio folk have a nice day and also our viewers, cya!

[Tixica]: Bye Gaíves!

The video call would end.

[Tixica]: We also need to start settling down for the game, i got the drinks!

[Railo]: I got the snacks!

[Eiva]: And ive prepared the TV, can't wait for this.

[Tixica]: Its nervewracking.

[Railo]: It is but this means a pause to our transmission for now, thanks for watching everybody, remember to keep on TVNC for live coverage of RYXTYLOPIA VS GIOVANNILAND! As our team gets ready to face another Auran side in the 5th Rugby World Cup, have a nice day and a good viewing.

[Tixica]: ARRIEBA RYXTYLOPIA!!!

The camera zooms out as the TVNC music plays, soon after it goes to ads, with a countdown to the time of the match in the corner.

Another day...another disappointing performance. Every day it has been the same since the revolution kicked the corporates out of the country. All the rich people who funded the Circus Conservatory are all gone now...no one wants to support the arts anymore. People these days are too excited by their new high wages and the baubles they can now afford to even think about going to the circus. Which leaves me, oooooooool' Ahuli the Clown to be stuck in the poorly maintained circus grounds as I smoke my cigarette outside the old Corporate Era dorms.

"'Ey Ahuli, the Circus Director is calling a meeting." says Gatlin the strong man,

"We still have a director?" I asked snarkily,

"Come on, Utsasgv, he says it is some good news for once!" encouraged Citlali the acrobat,

I roll my eyes and get up to follow them, my huge red shoes squeaking as I go to the old torn up big top tent. Who knows? Maybe some light will shine upon ol' Ahuli once more.

As we entered the tent, the stench of old hay and stale popcorn hits my nose. While any normal person would wrinkle their nose at such a smell I just continue on as normal. The circus hasn't had money to keep a janitorial staff for a few months now. Or...wait...maybe it has been a year now, I forget. Anyways, in the center of the circle was the circus director, Danuwoa Tsiyi, holding what appeared to be a piece of fine stationary.

"Hey boss, what's that fancy piece of paper you got there?" I ask mildly interested,

"Ah Ahuli, thank you for joining us!" he asks in his annoyingly cheerful tone,

"Yeah yeah...where do I sit?"

He gestures to the rotted benches that my coworkers were sitting on and I joined them, taking a drag on my cigarette as I did.

"Well, with Ahuli, Gatlin, and Citlani here, I can now reveal the news! I have recently sent in an application to the Office of Culture and the Arts for their subsidy and we have been chosen as candidates!" said Danuwoa excitedly

I perked up at that news, surprised at the fact that the government would consider our rusty old circus to be worthy of the subsidy. But then I focused on the word "candidates".

"Now wait a second!" I interject, "The letter said we are 'candidates', how do we actually receive it?"

"Well, we have to give a performance to the director of the OCA and several others so they can determine whether we are worth the subsidy." answered Danuwoa,

"Oh ****, we are so screwed." I sigh, dragging my hand down my face in disappointment.

"Come on, Ahuli!" says Citali, "We might have a chance to save the circus!"

"...But what chance do we actually stand here! We haven't had a new routine since the Revolution!"

"Then let's start making one!" exclaims Danuwoa excited,

"Yeah! Come on, Ahuli! Give us a smile!" encourages Gatlin, who proceeded to slap me in the back with his full strength, sending me falling to the ground.

"Oooooooh boy," I say with my face in the ground, "this whole process of trying to get a subsidy is going to suck isn't it."

Economy of Giovanniland

Giovanniland has an advanced mixed economy with a GDP totalling $1,406,647,221,920 and ranked as the fourth largest in Esferos. Due to the Giovannilandian policies of social democracy and welfare state, 48.2% of the national income goes to government spending, a total of $678,003,960,965 or $23,136 per capita. The national economy is highly diversified, featuring services as 71% of the economic output, while industries account for 27%, and the remaining 2% is generated by primary activities, all backed by the national currency called Abrio (𝒜), whose conversion rate is 1 international dollar for each 1.6 Abrios. The labor force is defined as all the population between 18 and 65 years old, and estimated to be 18,734,995 according to the latest national census, with an unemployment index of only 2% due to extensive welfare and social policies.

Primary and secondary sectors

kaEprzI.png         oKHwMhc.png

The logos of Avvento and Ekoprodutti. Avvento is a primary sector company focusing on wind power, while Ekoprodutti is a secondary sector company that manufactures environmentally friendly products.

For much of its history, Giovanniland's economy relied on tropical agricultural and manufacturing goods. Both the Abrentan and Lavandulan civilizations regarded trade as very important for their national development, and it was this relation that allowed both cultures to grow closer and form the Giovannian Empire, which brought an economic revolution to Lavender Island. During the imperial era, a period of prosperity came to the island due to the diverse goods brought in by the trading posts and routes established around Esferos, and the agricultural and mining riches earned from the Andolian colonies.

The decline of the Giovannian Empire forced the nation to adapt to a new era, and during the late 12th and early 13th centuries, the Industrial Revolution was brought from Saint Mark and was fully complete throughout the country by 1260. Continued economic growth has happened most often since then, allowing for the nation's development in other spheres such as society and infrastructure.

Despite the decrease in relative importance for external trade after the Industrial Revolution, agriculture and mining still provide a backbone for the nation's industries and services. Agriculture is currently estimated to contribute around 1% of GDP, generating a variety of tropical crops such as bananas, coconuts, papayas, cassava, cocoa, coffee, rice, sweet potato, and tea. Mining, another major component of the Giovannilandian primary sector, accounts for 0.5% of the national GDP and features an increasing search for rare-earth elements due to their uses in advanced technology, although the sector faces  environmental regulations due to the green policies of the notable Partito Soquale-Verde.

Meanwhile, the secondary sector is represented by factories and industries such as automobiles, computers and other electronics, food processing, and retail. These industry types are often concentrated in specific regions of the country, for example the Abrenosto region having strong influence in Giovannese cuisine and thus being the center of the national food processing industry. The mountainous regions such as Kordelleria are known for their retail sector, especially due to the low temperatures colder than the national average, while automobiles are often produced in the regions of Akallia and Altana.

Finally, the technology industry is present throughout the country, especially in the capital and the coastal regions. Amorante and Flaviopole, in the regions of Primolido and Lido Flavi respectively, are often known as the head cities of this sector. They have the nearby ports of Porto Violeto and Andoliavilla, allowing for Giovannilandian high-tech and nanotechnology products to not only be exported and generate high revenue, but also be transported to the other regions of Giovanniland.

Services

nC1Nncb.png         w3M1AkO.png

The logos of Tullerigno and Emeria Lavanda, two service sector companies mentioned below.

The tertiary sector is the driving workforce behind the national economy. Technology services account for over 10% of the GDP and are divided into diverse areas such as telecommunications, e-commerce,  software development, social media, gaming, data processing, artificial intelligence and much more. Several Giovannilandian companies from this sector have in the last few decades become present in the lives of nearly all Giovannilandians and also a decent international audience, for example Tullerigno through its widely used Osello operating system and Essio browser & search engine; and more recently the Konsortio Intellegentie's development of the generative chatbot Violeta and text-to-image model VisioArti. This subdivision of the tertiary sector is most present in the region of Giovannia Magna, with several enterprises' headquarters in cities next to the capital such as Vinikiano, Raffellara and Mattenia. Nearly all of Giovanniland's population has access to the internet, and most households have electronics ranging from computers, televisions and mobile phones to advanced Internet of Things devices.

The finance and trade sector is also notable and has its roots in the Giovannian Empire, since successive emperors sought to reach lands previously unknown to the Giovannese, establishing trading posts in the five continents including Nur, with which the Empire notably pioneered a surge in trade routes across the Viatic. Many institutions of merchants and moneylanders were founded in important ports like Uryde and Porto Violeto during the imperial golden age in the 9th and 10th centuries AF, and developed into modern-day banks such as the famous Emeria Lavanda (Lavender Bank). Presently 7% of the GDP comes from this area, and Giovannilandian banks have earned a reputation of having a very secure and technological system, alongside low taxes for money deposits.

Last but not teast, the other major source of services income is tourism. Environmentally friendly tourism is prominent in the northern Lavandulan rainforests and the two branches of the Great Lavender Range in Giovaura, as well as the mountainous valleys of the Irto River and the vast southern savannas in Giovandolia, with several designated national parks and natural reserves for this purpose. Historical tourism offers a wide range of attractions, ranging from ancient ruins of the Lavandulan Empire to the medieval Abrentan castles and the vast diversity of Giovannian Empire architecture, complemented by museums like the National Museums of Giovannia and Andoliavilla. Cultural tourism is also very lively and finds its home in the region of Abrenosto, whose capital Abrentopole regularly hosts several culinary events, since world-famous Giovannese meals like pizza and seafood pasta come from this region, as well as art exhibitions and festivals. Another destination in the region is the Abrentan Cape, known for the vineyards and wine production near the city of Portovini, and the beach resorts visited by many international tourists along the cape's coastline.

Transport

zah7Jpj.png

Lavionda, one of the main airlines of Giovanniland.

In the topic of transport, Giovanniland has a strong and well connected network of railroads, highways, waterways, harbors, airports, and more. The highway (autostrada) system is divided into national roads, which receive an abbreviation with the two-letter code GL followed by a number, and regional roads, whose abbreviations are similar but feature the two-letter code of the region instead. In the year of 1318 a very important project in the history of Giovannilandian highways was completed, with north-south highways in both the Auran and Andolian territories.

The following decades saw the connection of all urban municipalities to this new system, and at last smaller settlements in rural municipalities. Meanwhile, the railway system is older and dates back to the middle to late imperial period, where it took on the role of transporting vast amounts of agricultural, mining and manufacturing goods. These were originally wooden rails, while newer innovations such as metal rails, steam and now electric power were introduced during or after the Industrial Revolution.

The busiest port city in Giovanniland is Porto Violeto, a historic port that has been in existence for nearly two thousand years. Porto Violeto's harbor was greatly expanded during the imperial golden era, since it hosted a majority of the trade between the mainland and the overseas trading posts established by the Giovannian Empire, becoming the most prosperous city in all of the empire. In recent times, Porto Violeto has maintained its significance as the second largest city in Giovanniland and head of a cosmopolitan metropolis, while its port has evolved into a major container terminal for both the Darkesian Sea and the wider world.

Meanwhile, other significant port cities include Uryde in the north and Andoliavilla in the south. Furthermore, the country is also well-adapted for aerial transport—the five busiest Giovannilandian airports are the Emperor Giovanni the Great International Airport in Giovannia (22 million passengers per year), the Abreo-Florino International Airport in Porto Violeta (15m), the Flavio International Airport in Andoliavilla (10m), the Respublika International Airport in Abrentopole (7m), and the Lavandula International Airport in Uryde (5m).

The Ameteur video opens in the stand of the stadium, before the game, the atmosphere, with the Ryxtylopians having already started a stadium chant:

People had snacks, mainly potato chips, ocational pizza's and hotdogs, and this being Ryxtylopia, canned beans.

Water spraying down, and flags everywhere, this is what sports were about, not about the result but about the party that came along, about having fun right?

Banners everywhere and more stadium chants continued, people from several cities and regions comming togheter to show their own banners and continue the chants, despite the heavy Giovannilandian presence in the stadium the few ryxtylopians were determined to make their presence known, and to keep chanting.

The sun was shining brightly over Overthinkers, the chosen host for the fifth annual Rugby World Cup. Excitement crackled in the air as fans from all over the globe gathered to witness the much-anticipated quarterfinal clash between the undefeated team from Teralyon and their formidable opponents, Cambria. The stakes were high, and memories of last year's quarterfinals, where Cambria triumphed, loomed large in the minds of many from Teralyon.

As fans flocked to the stadium, their jerseys a sea of vibrant purple, a well-known sports pundit from Teralyon, Alrija Vosic, stood at the entrance, microphone in hand, ready to capture the electric atmosphere and the expectations of the Teralyon supporters.

newsfan3.png.55988ee83ec2a6e1c7ede38667e62a24.png

"Good afternoon, Teralyon fans!" Alrja's voice boomed through the speakers.
"Today, we face one of our toughest challenges yet. Our team will battle it out with Cambria in this crucial quarterfinal match. What do you expect to see from our team today?"

A group of enthusiastic fans, faces painted in the purple and silver of Teralyon, surged forward. A young woman named Lena, clutching a handmade sign, was the first to speak. "I expect nothing but excellence from our team! They've been unstoppable this season, and I know they'll bring their A-game today. We're here to support them all the way!"

Alrija smiled and nodded, moving on to an older gentleman with a thick mustache and a Teralyon cap perched magnificently on his head. "And you, sir, what are your thoughts?" The man, who introduced himself as Marik, chuckled warmly. "I've been following decades. This is one of the best squads we've ever had. I expect to see strong defense, quick passes, and maybe a few surprises. Our team has the skill and the heart to take this home."

The crowd around them cheered in agreement, waving flags and chanting the team's name. Alrija continued to weave through the sea of supporters, each one brimming with confidence and excitement. A group of teenagers, all wearing matching jerseys, shouted in unison, "We expect victory! Teralyon is going to crush it!"

Alrija raised his microphone to catch the voice of a middle-aged woman named Elara, who had traveled all the way from Suza with her family. "What do you expect to see from our team, Elara?" "I expect to see teamwork," she said with a determined look. "Our boys have a bond that's stronger than any other team. They play for each other, and that's what makes them unbeatable."

As the clock ticked closer to the start of the match, the anticipation reached a fever pitch. Alrija took a moment to address the viewers at home. "There you have it, folks. The fans are buzzing with expectations of excellence, strength, teamwork, and victory. Our dear undefeated team has captured the hearts of many, and today, they'll show the world what they're made of. Stay tuned for what promises to be an unforgettable match!"

With that, Alrija joined the sea of fans streaming into the stadium, ready to witness greatness. The roar of the crowd swelled as the players took to the field, each one a hero in the eyes of their nation. As the whistle blew and the game began, the hopes and dreams of Teralyon rested on the shoulders of their beloved team, poised to shine on the world stage once more.

The people have asked and now they have received! Leader of the Junaluskanist Party, Junaluska Wesa, has finally published the Junaluskanist Manifesto for all to read! The manifesto contains details on the demands that the proletariate have been fighting for in the country and what the party will fight for in the future! Many members of the party have been asking what the true manifesto of the party was and what Junaluskanism was truly about and now they have their answers.

The manifesto goes into detail defining the role of the party in the fight for the permanent revolution and how the common worker had been oppressed during the Zoranian Corporate Era. But it goes even further and expands upon this, noting how corporations around the world have been exploiting workers and how the politicians of many nations who claim to be fighting for the working class are truly just puppets of the bourgeoisie. It even gives some examples of countries that have sold out the working class to the soulless corporations such as Min-Su and Nouveauterra.

In terms of the actual ideology of Junaluskanism, the manifesto provides us with details on the idea of permanent revolution and how Zoran should fund and support other workers revolutions around the world to bring about the final goal of true communism. It also stresses the idea of a united front against far-right politics and nationalism which seeks to undermine the freedom of the working class and divides humanity based on the backwards ideas of race and nation.

But while we can go on and on about the contents of the manifesto and sing its praises, you can go ahead and read it yourself! today! Sign up here to receive your copy of the Junaluskanist Manifesto free of charge, because we believe that all should have access to knowledge without barrier of payment. Liberate yourself from the chains of capital today and order your copy of this revolutionary manifesto.

Ryxtylopia vs Giovanniland - Match Highlights

Ryxtylopia would enter the field again wearing the yellow and blue shirt, with the stadium erupting in cheers from both sides, the crowd being split pretty evenly, and the atmosphere for the game already being set in the news, sports articles and the many many chats about the match between fans from both sides.

Pablo Virriscayda would once again be commentating for TVNC.

Both teams would line up, for the national anthems and the coinflip, once the anthems finished, the coinflip would happen, with Giovanniland winning it, to then start the match.

KICK OFF:
The Giovannilandians begin the match by kicking off, Giovanniland opening the match relatively cautiously, with Ryxtylopia also starting off cautiously, leading in an absence of opportunities to score for the first few minutes of the game.

“Both teams are getting ready and… KICK OFF! Ladies and Gentlemen! We now have RYXTYLOPIA VS GIOVANNILAND! Live from Overthinkers in the 5th Rugby World Cup!”

10 Minutes in… (0-0)
After the uneventful first minutes of the game, it would be Giovanniland to have the first chance to score, thanks to a good pass to their left wing and captain: Marko Telliano Ulpio, who got the opportunity to move forwards with the ball without much opposition as Ryxtylopian player: Guilbirto Tivaña would fail in the tackle, falling short of Marko, with Marko being stopped a few meters away from the end of the pitch by Ryxtylopian right winger: Avilita Mataña and Fullback: Ernysto Rivas, who both positioned themselves to Marko’s front and right side, before Mataña was able to tackle, with Rivas clearing the ball.

“Marko has the ball for Giovanniland, going in through the left! Could get tackled by Tivaña, Marko, Tivaña, Marko, Tivaña annnnnnnd- TIVAÑA MISSES THE TACKLE! Marko is getting through, he needs to make it through Mataña and Rivas, attention… Markoooooooo, Tackle! Marko gets tackled by Mataña, possession is for Ryxtylopia!”

17 Minutes in… (7-0)
Following Marko’s attempt, the game progresses slowly, with both sides gaining and losing possession until Ryxtylopian openside flanker: Marco Xilta got through the heavily contested midfield section, and making it through the right side, then before passing to lock: Guivina Divarra near the centre, as she avoided Valeria Albone-Gallio, before one more diagonal pass to ryxtlopia’s Nº4 lock and captain: Riberto Huichilca, who was in position to score the try, avoiding fullback: Lukio Tenzino Vittori.

Armando Mataña would take the conversion kick for Ryxtylopia, scoring it and placing the Pirates 7 up on the scoreboard.

“Ball for Xilta! Attention! Xilta making progress on the right side, Xilta to Guivina, we have a strong attack, Guivina to face Valeria, and- Guivina makes it through! Guivina, Guivina, Guivina, Guivina to Huilchica, it will be Huilchica with this chance! Attention… Huilchicaaaaaaa- SCORE! SCORE!! RYXTYLOPIA, has scored! 17 minutes, thanks to a try from Riberto Huilchica!”

“Now we have Mataña to score the conversion, he’s getting ready for the run, its Matañaaaaaa- SCORE! Mataña scores the conversion! Ryxtylopia: 7 Giovanniland: 0!”

26 Minutes in… (7-0)
With the Pirates now having the edge they tried pressing their advantage, getting another opportunity in the 26th, with fly-half: Rinaco Zicha being the one in charge of moving up on the field, which he did, then passing to Quista Farris around ⅔ in, Farris having face Giovanna Antonia and Pietro Numeriani, failing to do so and getting tackled, however with Ferrán Lisquerva having been behind her, and with more players getting closer, this quickly turned into a ruck, from where Armando Mataña came out with possession, nearly reaching the Giovannilandian backline but getting tackled by Valeria Albone-Gallio as Giovanniland avoided conceding again.

“Zicha! Zicha’s on the field, he’s making good progress, Zicha to Farris, Farris, Farris, tackle by Pietro! Its Pie- no wait- Lisqu- Ruck! We have a ruck! Annnnnnnnnnnd… MATAÑA! MATAÑA HAS POSSESSION! Its close! attention, Mataña to score! Matañaaaaaaaaaaa- TACKLE! Valeria stops Mataña from achieving the try, ball to Giovanniland!”

34 Minutes in… (12-0)
Following a ruck within the Giovannilandian side of the pitch, Andreís Guilbirto would take possetion for the Ryxtylopians, making it past the Giovannilandian players from the ruck, and leaving him next to Nyima Tiberio-Pessino, Valeria Albone-Gallio, getting past Valeria but being tackled by Nyima, who then got tackled herself by Divarra with Huichilca retaking possession for Ryxtylopia and then passing to Pailo Darrias who was behind him on the left, with Darrias barely making it through a gap next to Severo Pompilio-Ortano and scoring the try.
Huilchica would follow for the conversion kick, sending the ball edging past the post, failing the conversion.

“Guilbirto! Possession is within the Pirates, now pushing from the field, Guilbirtoooo Tackle! Tackle by Nyima, and another Tackle! Now by Divarra, Huilchica regaining possession for Ryxtylopia. Attention! Its Huilchica, Huilchica, Huilchica, Huilchica, Huilchica to Darrias! Darrias can make it! He’s running, attention DARRIAAAAAAAAAAAS- SCORE!! SCORE! Darrias scores a try for Ryxtylopia we are 34 minutes in!”

“Now Huilchica will take the conversion kick, everything is set… Huilchicaaaaaaaa- MISS! Huilchica misses the conversion! The match is now 12-0 in our favor!”

39 Minutes in… (12-3)
Giovanniland would finally open their side of the scoreboard on the 39th, as the first half of the game was about to end. With Giovanna Antonia receiving a good pass from Tarquino Albavetta after a ruck in the Ryxtylopian side of the pitch. Getting through the midfield but then being cornered by Zicha, Tivaña and Rinaco Patochá in front of the goal posts, with no options for a pass she took the risk of dropping the ball and kicking it, with the ball going clean between the posts, as Giovanna scored the drop goal for Giovanniland.

“Tarquino! Tarquino, Tarquino to Giovanna, Giovanna is within meters of scoring! Attention, the defense is here too, Giovanna needs to look for a pass! Giovanna, Giovanna- Drop, KICK ANNNNNND- SCORE! Giovanna scores a wonderful drop goal for Giovanniland!”

HALF TIME (12-3)
As the ref blows the whistle half time arrives, both teams preparing to reorganize and rest.
For the Second half Giovanniland would make changes:

Gioseppa Sabino-Takori enters in place of Lukio Tenzino Vittori (Full-back)

Zerina Altanese enters in place of Nyima Tiberio-Pessino (Inside Centre)

Tommaso Kandido Silva enters in place of Stella Emilio-Dolkari (Lock 2)

Livio Kommodo enters in place of Kornelio Lodagi (Loosehead Prop)

“Annnnnd… HALF TIME! RYXTYLOPIA! winning against GIOVANNILAND! 12 to 3 in Overthinkers, in this quarterfinal round of the 5th Rugby World Cup, we’ll be back to you shortly after the break!”

47 Minutes in… (12-10)
Seven minutes into the second half there was the first clear scoring chance for either team, when the Giovannilandian fly half Tarquino Albavetta got closer to the 22-meter line, and spotted winger Severo Pompilio-Ortano on the far wing. The Ryxtylopian defense closed in, making it difficult for him to advance, so in a split-second he decided to send a beautiful kick that soared towards other side of the field! Severo then caught the ball and successfully crossed the try line, evading the defender Marco Va'atí that failed to tackle him, following the try with a nice conversion.

“Giovanniland! With possession now is Tarquino Albavetta! Tarquino, closing in the 22’ meters, defense closing in attention, Tarquino, kick! Tarquino to Severo! Attention, its close! Severo, Va’atí, Severooooooo, VA’ATÍ MISSES THE TACKLE! ATTENTION GIOVANNILAND IN WITH AND- SCORE! Giovanniland has scored the try!”

“Giovanniland to convert, attention Severo, Severooooooooooo- SCORE! SCORE! Giovanniland lands the conversion! Its now 12-10!”

51 Minutes in… (19-10)
By the 51st, a successful series of passes between Marco Xilta and Mirta Palmiras would allow Ryxtylopia another chance at scoring a try, with Palmiras taking a diagonal pass from Xilta to move forward and right in front of the line, almost scoring, where she was intercepted by Zerina Altanese resulting in a maul, with more players from both sides joining into the maul.
It was during the maul when Giovannilandian player Gioseppa Sabino-Takori would collapse the maul, with the referee awarding a penalty try to Ryxtylopia and sending Gioseppa off, leaving Giovanniland with one less player on the pitch.

“Possession with Xilta! Xilta to Palmiras! Palmiras to Xilta! And back to Palmiras! Now Palmiras advancing near the right! Palmiras is close! She has to get through- annnd- MAUL! MAUL, MAUL, MAUL, MAUL! We have maul ladies and gentlemen! Everybody’s going in! Right on the Giovannilandian side, next to the line! Its close, and OH! FOUL! FOUL! FOUL! FOUL! I believe it was, Gioseppa Sabino-Takori, current fullback for Giovanniland- AND SHE’S GETTING SENT OFF! Ladies and Gentlemen! Giovanniland is with one less player! The referee awards the Pirates the try penalty! Its now 19-10!”

58 Minutes in… (19-10)
However, despite being one player down Giovanniland still found chances; in the 58th they had a good buildup which resulted in Pietro Numeriani getting ¾ into the Ryxtylopian side, barely avoiding a tackle from Zicha, and generating danger for the defense, which sprung into action, with Tivaña tackling Pietro and allowing Va’atí possession.

“Giovanniland coming in with some pretty good passes, ball for Pietro, Pietro, Zicha- Miss! Zicha fails to tackle Pietro, Pietro is now within range, he has to get through Tivaña first, Pietro, Tivaña, Pietroooooooo- Tackle! Tackle! by Tivaña now Va’atí has the ball!”

59 Minutes in… (26-10)
With Va’atí in possession, he quickly hurried forward, before passing to Xilta on the right, as the ryxtylopians took advantage of the disposition of the Giovannilandian defense, with Xilta on the move from the right, before kicking the ball to the other side where it was received by Guilbirto, who barely avoided Severo, to then score the try as Giovanniland’s defense looked for ways to make up for their lost player.

“Va’atí with the ball! Va’atí with the ball! Va’atí, getting across the field! Va’atí now to Xilta! Xilta! Xilta! Xilta! Xilta! Attention! Xiltaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Its to Guilbirto! Guilbirto is within reach! Ladies and Gentlemen! GUILBIRTOOOOOOOOO- SCOOOOOOORE!! SCORE! Ryxtylopia has scored a try thanks to Andreís Guil-bir-to!”

“Apparently it will be Darrias to score the conversion, this can give our team a greater lead, attention! Darriaaaaaaaas… SCORE! DAARIIAAAAAS SCORES FOR RYXTYLOPIA!! The game is now 26-10!”

64 Minutes in… (26-10)
Even after conceding, Giovanniland’s attack posed some threat as Ryxtylopia began playing more defensively, allowing the Giovannilandians more possession, which lead to a concrete chance in the 64th when a kick met Demetro Gianluka in the Ryxtylopian side of the pitch, Demetro Gianluka pulling up some moves that confused Guilbirto Tivaña leading him to fail a tackle, and getting Demetro within range of the try, when Va’atí was able to block him, and as Demetro attempted to get around or look for a pass he got tackled by Rivas, leading Va’atí to get possession back for the Pirates.

“Giiiiiiovannilaaaaaaaand- Demetro, Demetro now carrying it forwards for Giovanniland, their team can still pull an upset with the time remaining, its Demetro against Tivaña, Demetroooo- DEMETRO GETS THROUGH! Ryxtylopia needs to react, Va’atí! Va’atí! Come on Demetro, Va’atí, Demetroooooo- TACKLE! Tackle by Rivas! Possession goes back to Ryxtylopia!”

68 Minutes in… (33-10)
Following a ruck right on the midfield, Tommaso Kandido Silva would come out with possession for Giovanniland, but while looking for a pass, he would get tackled by Armando Mataña, allowing Huilchica to take the ball, and causing an incredibly dangerous situation for Giovanniland, with Huilchica then passing it to Darrias near the center, as Darrias passed it back to Huilchica before Marko Telliano Ulpio had a chance to tackle him, Huilchica scoring soon after with Giovanniland’s defense still suffering from being 1 player down.

After that, Darrias once again would take the conversion, kick it into the goal, settling the score at 33-10.

“Tommaso with possession, he could look for a pass to- TACKLE! Tackle by Mataña! Now its for Huilchica! Huilchica is in! Huilchica is through! Now to Darrias! Darrias! Darrias! Back to Huilchica! Attention, Huilchica, HUILCHICAAAAAGH- SCOOOOOORE!! SCORE! Ryxtylopia has scored! try from Huilchica in the 68th!”

“Now Darrias, conversion, Darriaaaaaaaaaaaaas- SCORE! Darrias does NOT mess around with the conversions! The game is now 33-10!”

FULL TIME (33-10)
That last try would practically mark the end of the match, as Ryxtylopia would go defensive, to maintain their lead, given that Giovanniland was also 1 player down. Although Giovanniland would still try to score some more, the last 10 minutes did not have close attempts, and with that the referee would blow his whistle at the 80th with Ryxtylopia advancing to face Overthinkers in the Semi-Finals.

“Annnd… TIME’S UP! Ladies and Gentlemen! Giovanniland fought to the last! But today RYXTYLOPIA! Has won! After an incredibdly intense match, with memorable plays!"

"With this result Ryxtylopia will advance to face the hosts of the tournament, none other than Overthinkers! In a semi-final! A battle of the not-anymore newcomers! Which promises intense plays and excitement for all the audience! Will Tivarra's team reach the final? Who knows!"

"But this will be the end for today's transmission, we thank the hosts: Overthinkers for allowing us to set it up, and for hosting this RWC in the first place, ive been Pablo Virriscayda, rugby comentator for TVNC, and i will hopefully see you ladies and gentlemen in OVERTHINKERS VS RYXTYLOPIA! Have a nice day."

The transmission ends.

The atmosphere was electric in Hestmere, as the Teralyon team stepped off of Roller Field, victorious. The final score of 17 to 7 against Cambria had sent shockwaves through the rugby world, solidifying Teralyon's place in the semi-finals of the fifth annual Rugby World Cup. The memory of last year's defeat was now a distant echo, replaced by the roar of triumph and the promise of glory.

Alrija Vosic, the renowned sports pundit from Teralyon, stood amidst the celebrating fans in the stadium, microphone in hand. "Ladies and gentlemen, we did it! Teralyon has triumphed over Cambria with a score of 17 to 7 here at Roller Field in Overthinkers. Our team has shown incredible skill and determination, and now, we're moving on to the semi-finals!" The crowd erupted in cheers, waving flags and chanting the names of their heroes. Alrija made her way through the jubilant sea of purple jerseys, eager to capture the fans reactions.

Lenafan3.png.783937eafbbbfd66aa7ac1012b13049f.png
A young woman named Lena, still clutching her "Go Teralyon!" sign, was beaming with pride.
"I knew we could do it! They played with so much heart. I can't wait to see them in the semi-finals!"

Marikfan3.png.b4ebba24a74e108cab759c6864210043.png
Marik, the seasoned fan with the Teralyon cap, had tears of joy in his eyes.
"This is a moment I've waited for my whole life. Our boys have made us proud. Onward to the semi-finals!"

cheeringteens3.png.56f19f000f9a9a53189f73471924a314.png
Alrija continued her journey through the crowd, stopping to speak with a group of teenagers. One of them, Alex, was hoarse from cheering. "This is the best day ever! We showed the world that Teralyon is unstoppable. Bring on the semi-finals!"

AlrijaZivko3.png.23cdb10e14f5255899e15eba32ff0098.png
As the celebration continued, Alrija managed to catch up with the team captain, Zivko Koci, who was surrounded by fans and reporters. "Zivko, how does it feel to lead Teralyon to victory today?"

Zivko, still catching his breath, grinned widely. "It's an incredible feeling. The team gave everything they had, and the support from our fans was unbelievable. We played for them, and we played for Teralyon. Now, we're focused on the semi-finals. We're not done yet."

Elara, who had traveled from Suza with her family, joined the conversation. "Zivko, you and the team have shown what true teamwork is. We're behind you all the way to the finals!"

As the sun began to set, the celebration showed no signs of slowing down. Alrija took a moment to reflect on the journey ahead. "Teralyon fans, today's victory is just the beginning. Our team has proven they have what it takes to go all the way. The semi-finals await, and with the spirit of Teralyon behind them, there's no limit to what they can achieve. Stay tuned, because the best is yet to come!"

sportspunds3.png.829aac08ba306bae4796d3481e72c2e8.png
The feed cut back to the studio, where three sports pundits sat at a desk, ready to analyze the game that had just unfolded.

Luka, a former Teralyon player with an analytical mind, started the discussion.
"What an incredible match! Teralyon's strategy was impeccable today. Zivko Koci's leadership on the field was a key factor in their victory."

Mira, an expert in rugby tactics, nodded in agreement.
"Absolutely, Luka. Their defense was solid, and they capitalized on every opportunity. The way they controlled the pace of the game was impressive. It was clear they had learned from last year's defeat and came back stronger."

Petar, known for his passionate commentary, added,
"And let's not forget the fans. The energy in Roller Field was unbelievable. You could see it in the players' eyes—they were feeding off that support. It's what makes rugby in Teralyon so special."

Luka leaned forward, his eyes twinkling with excitement.
"Looking ahead to the semi-finals, what adjustments do you think they'll need to make?"

Mira considered for a moment.
"They'll need to maintain this level of intensity. No matter if its against Dalimbar or Zoran, their next opponent will be tough, but if they keep their focus and continue to play as a cohesive unit, they've got a great shot at making it to the finals."

Petar chimed in with a grin.
"And with fans like ours, how can they not? This is Teralyon's year, and I'm confident we'll see them lift the trophy."

The broadcast ended on a high note, with the pundits' analysis adding depth to the day's excitement. As Teralyon prepared for their next challenge, the entire nation stood united, ready to cheer their team on to ultimate victory.

In a quiet palatial office back in Tarajevo far from the roaring crowds, Marshal Tijo Troz, watched the broadcast with a proud smile. As the broadcast was ending he turned off the television and with the screen fading to black, he reached for his phone, dialing an old friend's number. The line rang briefly before being answered.

"Hello, Sabine," Tijo said warmly, a knowing smile spreading across his face.

TVNC - Reviewing the match; Quarterfinals

The broadcast would start in the studio, after Railo, Eiva and Tixica had watched the match and prepared to give their opinions on it.

[Tixica]: But i enjoyed it a lot!

[Railo]: You ate two whole bags of chips!! And a can of beans on top of that! If you had told me to bring more snacks i would have, but no! You didn't tell me!

[Tixica]: They were good, i didn't think id eat that much!

[Eiva]: Alright you two, chill out, we're live already.

[Railo]: Oh crap! Uh, hello again viewers! Welcome back to the TVNC transmissions on the 5th Rugby World Cup, im Tivan Railo, and as usual on this program ill be joined by my coworkers: Nixta Eiva and Marco Tixica, we'll continue from where we left off last time; reviewing the match between Giovanniland and Ryxtylopia, a match that had memorable moments eventually ending in our favor 33-10!

[Tixica]: Intense indeed.

[Railo]: Of course the biggest highlight being TIXICA, eating all the snacks i had brought, and leaving nothing for me.

[Tixica]: Come on! You didn't have to mention it like that...

[Eiva]: Cut it out the two of you! We need to move on to the match itself.

[Railo]: Right... Anyways, its about time we start with this, so where do we start?

[Tixica]: We start at the start silly! The first 10 minutes! They were... Ok why am i trying? They were boring!

[Railo]: One way to put "uneventful" there.

[Eiva]: As many of you saw, the first 10 minutes of the game were characterized by a lack of anything, both sides started out cautious, and i mean why wouldn't they, as they were facing strong rivals, you'd want to see what they do first before you act, its completley reasonable.

[Tixica]: Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring.

[Railo]: Well this wouldn't last long due to the attempt to score by Marko Telliano, but we opened the score in the 17th!

[Eiva]: Many people are going on about how that was a pretty convincing victory by the ARR's part, i mean 33-10, we'd have expected more from Giovanniland.

[Railo]: Don't ramble too much, they're a competent side, they've reached the heights before, they just went through a bad time recently, with this being their best participation after their debut in RWC1, we cannot do teams like Giovanniland dirty like that by calling them dissapointing.

[Eiva]: Fair enough, they're one of the giants of the Auran continent.

[Tixica]: Imperialists! That's what they are.

[Railo]: Woooooooahhh, when did you join that debate?

[Tixica]: I was just making a reference to all the jokes about how the Imperalists have finally been sent home, and all of that, i find them funny.

[Eiva]: Is it really a good idea to get into geopolitics or whatever that is?

[Railo]: Let's just go back to the match, Huilchica and Darrias gave us the early head, even after the failed conversion from Huilchica after Darrias' try.

[Eiva]: And i did like that drop goal by Giovanna Antonia, it went like straight down the middle, beautifully executed considering the time she had at her disposal.

[Railo]: Good you enjoyed it, since we're about to enter the uh, semi-controversial part of the match: since after Severo's try you might recall that maul that, well... the footage speaks for itself.

[Eiva]: A maul right on the line that was broken up by: Gioseppa Sabino-Takori, leading to her expulsion from the match, which absolutley screwed up the giovannilandian defense, and left them on the backfoot.

[Railo]: Well some aren't against the penalty try more so that the expulsion might have been too harsh.

[Tixica]: Harsh? I mean, they all fell over!

[Railo]: Well what i want to get at here, do you think the advantage the expulsion gave Ryxtylopia was really big? Or was it just a coincidence, and Giovanniland would have lost anyways?

[Eiva]: Well for me at least; that impacted them a lot, they had to extend more, their attack didn't really suffer much but their defense oh boy, they had a pretty rough time, if i recall Gioseppa was their fullback, so yeah, a lot of impact on their defense and they had a harder time stopping the attacks.

[Tixica]: They lost beacause of that.

[Railo]: Well i agree with you Eiva, that did not help Giovanniland in their defense, that's when they really started conceding.

[Tixica]: And who do you say was our key player?

[Railo]: Hard to tell, Huilchica scored a try, and aided in scoring a lot but of course you also have Darrias, Xilta and Va'atí, Darrias with a try and some conversions, and then Xilta with opening many of the chances the ARR had and Va'atí being absolutley crazy in the defense, not to take away from Rivas, Palmiras, Zicha, etc... but if i had to choose it would between those 4.

[Tixica]: Good choices! Id go with Xilta, i like that guy.

[Eiva]: I thought you liked Gaíves.

[Tixica]: Not in that way!

[Railo]: Haah, Good one Eiva and speaking of which, its about time we transition to Gaíves' section.

[Eiva]: Im on it.

The three start the video call with Gaíves.

[Gaíves]: Hello everybody.

[Tixica]: Gaíves! Whats up! What do you have for us?

[Gaíves]: Well currently heading to the dressing room, i was told i would be able to get a scoop of the players perspective this time around, hopefully it will be true.

[Railo]: And how'd you enjoy the match.

[Gaíves]: It was pretty fun to watch.

Gaíves would head to the dressing room as the team finished packing up their stuff.

[Gaíves]: Excuse me, TVNC, could i have a comment on the match you just played?

[A. Mataña]: Oh, it was pretty intense, but we had it easier on the second half, i think uh, we did a good job at gaining and defending our lead, and we had good coordination throughout.

[Gaíves]: Got any opinions on the expulsion that happened during the match?

[A. Mataña]: Well i was there and, it really cost Giovanniland, as it helped us push forward with more ease, despite not being able to play for possession as we originally intended to, we got to build our plays up and execute them easier without that player for Giovanniland, so it probably helped us win overall, a game is a game, you follow the rules.

[Gaíves]: Got any comments for our next matchup.

[A. Mataña]: Well the hosts are looking mighty strong, as Overthinkers is hosting the tournament we'll have to respect them having more people than us watching, i think we can get over them with teamwork, and strategy, they are another challanging team that im looking forward to face.

[Gaíves]: Alright, would that be all?

[A. Mataña]: Definitley, i do hope to not dissapoint in the following match, we're all counting on the support we get not only here but from home, and also uh, well i want to dedicate a thanks to my family and friends that gave me this opportunity to play this sport and helped me in all the steps to get where im currently at.

[Gaíves]: Alright, thank you for your time!

Gaíves moves on to Huilchica.

[Gaíves]: Excuse me, TVNC, may i ask for any opinions on this match?

[Huilchica]: One of our most important matches to date, luckily we achieve the result we needed and we advance, so far we are on a roll, and on route to complete the objectives we set ourselves. As captain ive talked with the team and with Tivarra, we're all in agreeance we have the capacity to reacht the final, and we'll be going for it, this result is hopefully one step closer to achieving that goal.

[Gaíves]: That's great, but on the match, what are your thoughts on the expulsion of the rival player?

[Huilchica]: Well, the referee did his job, and that really put a roadblock for Giovanniland, heavily impacted their defense, which until then was doing a good job at halting our attacks, but after that we got to score our chances, and well that lead to the game finishing how it ended.

[Gaíves]: Alright, got any comments for the next match?

[Huilchica]: A tough rival is ahead of us, Overthinkers will have a clear advantage in the stands and since they're playing in their own home, however they struggled against UA, which whilst could be a good sign for us is no reason to let our guard down as United Adaikes was another very good team, we'll just have to wait and prepare.

[Gaíves]: Alright, would you like to say anything else?

[Huilchica]: That'll be all.

[Gaíves]: Alright, thanks!

Finally Gaíves would head towards the coach: Andreís Tivarra.

[Gaíves]: Tivarra! Tivarra! TVNC, thoughts on the match?

[Tivarra]: Oh, hello again, well we of course presented our A-game, i had prepared the plan, we practiced, and talk about the strategy, however with the unfolding of the match the plan had to change but it was able to evolve, and the team was able to adapt to the new circumstances. It was hard for the players, but they made it out fine, we got the result we were looking for and we'll be seeking further results soon, ive already stated my goals.

[Gaíves]: Would you say the expulsion of the rival player was a crucial moment in the game?

[Tivarra]: Its something i didn't see comming, luckily even without my instructions the team was able to adapt, and take advantage of the situation, that allowed them the tries as the rival defense suffered heavily from the loss of one of their players, im just glad our players had the iniciative.

[Gaíves]: Excellent, what about next game?

[Tivarra]: Well considering we'll be facing the hosts, i do not want to get ahead of myself, they will be one of our toughest rivals to face, and i would not like to jugde their level given by the results of their semi final alone, as they were facing another powerful side in global rugby, if they had what they needed to beat them they will have the ability to beat us, so ill procede with caution, i need to further analyze and plan for the game, but i trust in my players, as togheter we have and can make history.

[Gaíves]: Alright, anything else you would like to add?

[Tivarra]: To our previous rivals, well played, every single of your players fought till the end, to our next rivals, we wish you good luck and we thank you for hosting a so far amaizing tournament, and to our people, thanks for the support, from the chants and flags, to supportive messages, we would not be here if it weren't for you. That will be all.

[Gaíves]: Alright thanks!

Gaíves walks out of the dressing room.

[Railo]: Amaizing job Gaíves, you always get us the best information you can.

[Gaíves]: Thanks Railo, this is nearly over so ill see you all in person soon, but for now we leave it here.

[Tixica]: Remember what i said!

[Gaíves]: Yeah yeah, hopefully ill get to see you here...

[Tixica]: Good.

[Gaíves]: Well folks, time for me to go, ill see you all in the next matchday.

[Railo]: Goodbye Gaíves, see you soon.

The video call ends.

[Railo]: That was productive.

[Eiva]: Indeed, good thing we have Gaíves and his crew as our on ground boots, couldn't imagine anyone else on the job.

[Gaíves]: Irreplacable.

[Railo]: Well its time that we start closing up shop. Any final thoughts on our next match?

[Tixica]: We need to win!

[Eiva]: Look, if they say they have the capacity to win it, i trust them, they are all professionals, they know what their doing, and even then they've made it into the top 4, a feat not a lot of teams get to endulge in, especially in their second participation in a RWC, they learned a lot in Dalimbar and now they get to put it to use, good for them.

[Railo]: Probably the best way to put it.

[Tixica]: Why are you two so emotional.

[Eiva]: We're not, its just the facts.

[Railo]: Just the facts here on TVNC, where you have just seen me, Eiva and Tixica discuss about our team's performance in this 5th Rugby World Cup! This will be the end of today's tranmission but i hope you enjoyed it. We'll be back soon for Overthinkers VS Ryxtylopia! Have a nice day.

[Eiva]: See you soon everybody.

[Tixica]: Goooooooooodbyeeee!

[Railo]: Now for you, you are going to bring all the snacks on this list for next match.

[Tixica]: Oh come on! I thought you had forgotten about it...

The camera zooms out as the TVNC music plays, soon after the transmission ends.

Ooooooooh boy, where do I begin. We started working on the new routines yesterday and it has already started to turn into a ****show. The equestrian act had issues with the horses running off, result in all of us having to hunt down the horses in the countryside and getting into a fight with a horse farmer who believed one of our horses was his. The juggler insisted on juggling the plates from the balancing act...only to break the plates and forcing us to get new ones. And the dog act wanted to work with cats instead...which actually went surprisingly well but the cats keep scratching the hell out of everyone. And then there is me, as the circus clown I have been working with the Ring Mistress to create the story for the show that will be going on between acts...and the Ring Mistress wants to create a WINTER THEMED SHOW in the SUMMER in a COUNTRY THAT DOESN'T EXPERIENCE WINTER! I keep telling her this but she doesn't seem to listen.

I lean against the bathroom wall and look into the mirror in my bathroom, wearing the only well maintained clown suit I have with fresh makeup on my face. I look at myself and wonder why I am still part of this circus, sure it wasn't a bad gig years ago but these days it has become a drag. I knew I should have gone into finance like my mother wanted me to before I ran off to clown school twenty years ago.

That is when there was a knock at the bathroom door,

"Ahuli! Hurry up in there! I really gotta go!" yells Gatlin,

"Yeah yeah, don't worry I will be out soon." I say as I give myself one last look over in the mirror before exiting the bathroom and made my way to the the communal kitchen to see if what I could pilfer from the fridge only to run into Citlani who was busy making some eggs.

"Morning, Citlani. You and the acrobats figure out your routine yet?" I ask out of politeness,

"Morning Ahuli! Yes, we have a rough idea on what we are going to do for the performance. Any breakthrough between you and the Ring Mistress?" she asks,

"No, we can't agree on a single thing regarding what to do with the show." I grumble,

"Oh dear, well do you at least have an idea on what you are going to be doing?" she asks with a hint of concern in her voice,

"Yep, going to pull out the ooooooool' joke book." I say as I light another cigarette,

"Oh no, not that joke book. It is a decade out of date, Ahuli." she says with dismay,

"No it's not," I say as I draw on my cigarette, "making fun of the Markians has never gone out of style in Zoran. Like why do they even have so many furs when we both live in the tropics!"

"Ahuli," she says disapprovingly with a frown, "they go by Markans and while people like to poke fun at them your jokes need to update along with the show. People don't want to see a clown that simply recites jokes, they want a showman who exercises various kinds of comedy styles."

"Oh god, please don't bring up excercising to me. I failed Phys ed in secondary school!" I say snarkly,

"Ahuli, I am being serious!" she exclaims, "If we want the officials to give us the subsidy we have to bring our best to the table. Maybe incorporate a little bit of all the acts into your routine."

"There is no way I am going to perform acrobatic stunts." I object,

"But you might have expand your skill set to be more creative with your comedy! You have said yourself that you have started to get bored with your routine so why not find that creative spark again. Incorporate a bit of acrobatics, juggling, horseback riding, illusions, and more! You are going to need some practice but maybe it can revive your joy for the circus."

I thought about what she said for a minute, wondering if it was going to be worth the trouble and the effort. I let out a sigh as I realize that she was right,

"All right, fine. I guess I can pick up some things to make the act more entertaining. Know any good acrobats?" I ask,

"Hmm, I don't know," she says with a smirk, "depends on if you are going to be nice to the acrobat."

"Oh come on, I am always nice. I am known for my politeness and my observation of social etiquette." I quip back,

"I guess you're right," she says, "I guess I can teach you some things. But don't smoke your cigarettes when I am teaching you."

"Uuuuugh, fine...thanks Citlani." I say begrudingly,

"You're welcome." she says as she serves herself the eggs she was cooking. Having forgotten what I had come into the kitchen to do, I left the room with an empty stomach as I thought about how I was going to physically be able to learn enough from each act to incorporate it into my routine.

Of course I go ahead and agree to an idea without thinking about whether it was physically possible to do it. I am sooooooo screwed.

Teralyon Defies Odds, Defeats Cambria to Reach Semi-Finals

In a thrilling match that showcased their unbeaten streak, the Teralyon rugby team secured a decisive victory against Cambria with a score of 17 to 7 in the fifth annual Rugby World Cup. This win further cements Teralyon's dominance in the tournament and sets the stage for an eagerly anticipated semi-final showdown with the formidable team from Zoran.

Canal 7 Dyportes - The Semifinals; A dive into the Top 4

There would be a brief introduction, with a heavily autotuned voice:

"In Channel 7 we bring you the best information for your viewing, CHANNEL 7!"

Soon after the brief introduction the transmission would begin with a man sat at a desk.

"Good afternoon everybody, welcome to Channel 7 SPORTS, the best sporting news in the entire northern half of Aura, im Inrique Miravez today's host, and as many of you have been expecting, today we're taking a dive into the Rugby World Cup being hosted in Overthinkers!"

"The ARR recently beat Giovanniland in our quarterfinals match, and now they are ready to advance to the semis, where they'll be facing none other than the hosts of the competition: Overthinkers! Who achieved their pass to the quarterfinals after a very hard fought match against United Adaikes, the team that had knocked them out in the quarterfinals of the previous RWC; this time it was different as they tied 10-10, with Overthinkers prevailing in extra time, getting their much awaited revenge on the sharks."

"But now its time we dive in, to analyze the two semifinals that we're about to witness, and first up we have:"

Overthinkers VS Ryxtylopia

"The two surprises in Dalimbar had a chance to meet in a semifinal, but it didn't happen then, now we are getting the battle of the ex-newcomers between the hosts and the ARR"

"As they just both had their debuts in the last RWC, and didn't share a group, they've never met in a rugby match before. With Overthinkers being knocked out by United Adaikes, and Ryxtylopia suffering a defeat also to United Adaikes before winning the 3rd place against Cambria."

"With Overthinkers playing at home, they have an advantage when it comes to the support they'll get from fans, but this also gives their players a certain pressure to win, however they are a competent teem and they'll probably seek out the win. So let's analyze both sides."

Overthinkers:

"The hosts prepare for their next against none other than the ARR, both teams with the intention of reaching the finals and improving on their performance done in their debuts. Under coach: Anton Edwards, Overthinkers has had a good tournament, despite hiccups along the way and the hard fought match against United Adaikes, however now with their revenge against the sharks complete they prepare to face Ryxtylopia."

"As we have covered before, Overthinkers is one of the more agressively-focused teams in the tournament, and agressive teams if they have good coordination, abilities, and strategy can quickly build up a lead, leaving their rivals at a disadvantage, for this they'll rely on high possession of the ball, and a mentality that allows them to convert all their chances, even if the plan deviates from the original strategy. Two things Overthinkers has."

Ryxtylopia:

"The Pirates want to advance to out-do their RWC4 debut, where they finished 3rd, and under coach: Andreís Tivarra, the team is on the right track to do that. Despite a surprise loss to Nouveauterra in the last day of the group stage, the ARR, made it past Sekiya in the round of 16, and Giovanniland in the quarterfinals, to now be preparing for their second semifinal in a RWC."

"Ryxtylopia is one of the more balanced sides in the tournament, favoring a playstyle revolving around the buildup of each of their plays, allowing them to be at an advantageous position to score, whilst also being at a good position to defend rival pushes, and regain possession, they'll beneffit from players who can take back possession and a good coordination between their attack and their defense."

The Game:

"For the game perhaps we could expect a sort of repeat of the same playstyle as we saw in Ryxtylopia vs Zoran in the group stage, of course different as Overthinkers is another team, but they either might try to get an ealry lead and defend it by pressuring the Ryxtylopian backline with attacks, if they can open their chances correctly. For Ryxtylopia possession based play can work, however considering the team they're going up against its unlikley they'll be able to retain a large level of possession, it will be more 50% 50% ish so the more likley approach is to be able to defend and push back right after an failed chance from the rivals, to also pressure them and to hopefully get a key advantage before going all out defensive."

"Both sides know the other is strong, the game may open pretty cautiously or we might see the first half being the more intense half as either team tries to get a lead. No matter the result however we're sure we'll get an exciting match to watch, as the locals face a situation where they could either go for gold, or for bronze.

Teralyon VS Zoran

"Teralyon keeps its winning streak, and now they'll be facing 2-time RWC winners, Zoran, a team that has gone through a bit of a slump in performance but has been able to quickly recover their form."

"Theese two teams didn't meet in RWC4 but considering their performances so far its going to be an interesting match to watch, Zoran is the worst team so far to reach the semis at least in performance, since they did get 2 losses in the group stage, whilst Overthinkers and Ryxtylopia only got 1 and Teralyon currently has no losses. However this shouldn't be taken as a point to indicate that Zoran will loose, that's far from the truth actually."

"With an upcomming rugby powerhouse going up against an established one we can only expect a good matchup, lets see what the teams have in store for us and how the game might go."

Teralyon:

"There isn't much to say about Teralyon that hasn't been said before, under coaches: Maldoc Wenavic and Vush Brajna, Teralyon continue their winning streak, its now currently at 8 games 0 losses, with a close match against Saint Mark and the victory against Cambria in the quarterfinals, their team is so far the most successful in this tournament, and they'll be getting further than last year when they got knocked out in quarters, as now they have a chance at gold, silver or bronze, even if they achieve none they will be in the top 4 of this year."

"Their squad really cannot improve much, they're a well rounded side, capable of creating a lead or defending the rival's attempts to create one, they'll beneffit from good coordination between attack and defense, and from creating enough chances to get a lead, something they've done in every match they've had so far, they're sureley at their peak in rugby."

Zoran:

"The two time winners of the tournament want to get their third title, but it wont be easy especially with their rival and being on paper the semifinalist with the worst form. However despite many doubts entering the tournament, and 2 early losses in the group stage, Zoran bounced back from theese, and is now ready to face the semifinals, after victories against Fujai in the round of 16, and after beating reigning champions: Dalimbar in the quarterfinals. Their team is back on the rise."

"Zoran plays agressive, however not as much as Overthinkers, and now facing a side that's in this tournament had better performance they'll need to be careful if they want a shot at winning a 3rd trophy, but its be very hard, so they'll either try to wear the Teralyians down during the first half by probing and holding them at edge, or they'll try to get an early lead and hopefully hold it, for the old kings of rugby this will probably be their hardest battle in this campaign yet."

"And that's it for our program, we looked at each team, their matchup, their possible strategies, and possible game results for each of the matchups."

"We're into the last 4 now, the winners of theese matches will go on to the final, whilst the loosers will get a shot at winning the bronze medal this year, for the ARR its not been the smoothest road, but solid performances have carried them to where they are now, and the same goes for the other 3 teams participating in the semi finals, we'll soon get our answers as to who passes and who doesn't."

"But that will be all for today's special. Ive been Inrique Miravez! Today's host, and i thank you for listening, and lending us your time to give you our take on this RWC! Have a good day."

Channel 7! Channel 7! Channel 7!

The nation split into two sections when the war broke out into the open. The Lyonnot North, headed by their President Adrian Lyon, and the Republicaine South, headed by the rightful President Yves Charron.

Adrian Lyon and his allies were holed up in their newly cobbled together capital in Agentum in the far north of the country, and formed the Coalition of Dissenting States. Adrian Lyon as the President, Vincent Gens as the Secretary General. Their leading generals were from my graduating class of Collège de Guerre Du Sud: Maximi Eustace Villers, Horacio Urs, and Felix Regnos.

Yves Charron and the Republic were concentrated in the south in Pointe-d’Espoir. Yves Charron as the President, and Cato Eurastas as Prime Minister. The leading generals of the Republic were Maximi Lucien Gambon, Serg Larchemont, and myself.

The Republic was in a poor state when the dust settled on the Eighth of May. A good portion of generals in the ranks of the Army of the Republic had joined the side of the Coalition. The government had to be righted as some important ministers had also defected to the Coalition. The silver lining was that the Republic had a greater share of the populace, and the greater economy.

The Coalition indeed had the greater hand on the Eighth of May. They had experienced leadership and manpower in their Army of the Coalition. They also had shrewd ministers skilled in administration. However, they had fewer men, and even fewer resources. This guided their thinking, that much was sure.

We learned of the Coalition’s first move in only a couple days. They had gathered a band of nearly 8,000 soldiers, mutineers, partisans, and officers. They would attempt to strike Pointe-d’Espoir and decapitate the Republic in one move. This was likely fueled by Adrian Lyon’s ego, as he was robbed of his moment in the Sun by my rifle fire, but also the need to end the revolt as quickly as possible. They knew the long game of organized warfare favored the Republic.

The Coalition Army, led by Maximus Felix Regnos, would march from the north, through Evertkil, then Zandigekrek, and to the western side of Pointe-d’Espoir. They would have to traverse down, and then up the Oterbrooke, and lastly up one more time to the Citadelle itself, seated on a raised plateau of stone. It was their shortest path, and it gave the Republic the least time to react.

Monsieurs Gambon, Larchemont, and myself gathered together to make a plan for the defense of the Citadelle. We had nearly 6,000 men in close proximity to the capital. We sent out messages to gather as many of them in the capital. We also solicited the help of partisans from wherever we could get them. The heavens had aligned in our favor as nearly 1,000 men were drawn up from the nearby cities of Gué and Strijdkreet.

We ordered the men to create stockades, and fortifications to slow down the Coalition, and ordered them to run to the next line of fortifications if they were overrun.

May 13th came. Scouts had spotted that a rainstorm had severely delayed the Coalition wagon train, and using this good fortune we made sure the defenses were readied. I sent out a telegraph to the men of the stockades to steel their nerves, and ordered horses be readied for the President and the Prime Minister if our efforts were to fail. The fighting would begin in earnest at midday, when the Coalition Army encountered the defenses at Evertkil.
