  2. [Free State Television – Live from Ryxtylopia] Program: World Cup Focus Host: Lazar Ignatiyev [Opening shot: A roaring stadium in Ryxtylopia under the evening lights. Dalimbari fans wave blue flags, their chants echoing through the stands.] Lazar Ignatiyev (on camera): “Good evening, Dalimbar! This is Free State Television, coming to you live from the magnificent Istadio Franco Rivalda — and what a night it is! The air is electric, the sea of blue is endless, and the Boys in Blue stand on the brink of history once again. After weeks of fierce competition, the champions of the 4th Rugby World Cup are here — in the gold medal match — facing none other than their long-standing rivals, Zoran. A rivalry that stretches back since the 2nd RWC, fueled by pride, power, and passion for the game.” [Cut to highlights montage — Dalimbari tackles, tries, and defensive walls from earlier matches.] Ignatiyev (voiceover): “The road to this final has been anything but easy. On Match Day 1, Dalimbar began their campaign with a hard-fought 10–7 victory over Varanius, setting the tone with disciplined defense and raw determination. Match Day 2 brought tension and grit — a 21–21 draw with Teralyon, where both sides refused to yield an inch. But the Boys in Blue regrouped swiftly, answering back on Match Day 3 with a commanding 18–10 win over Greiya, securing their place in the knockout stages.” [Montage fades to clips of the elimination rounds — muddy fields, collisions, roaring fans.] Ignatiyev (voiceover): “In the Round of 16, Dalimbar battled Jerimiahia in a bruising contest, prevailing 11–6 in what many called a defensive masterpiece. Then came the Quarter-Finals — a narrow 7–6 victory over Nouveauterra, a match defined by heart-stopping tackles and that unforgettable late penalty that sent Dalimbari supporters into rapture. And in the Semi-Finals, facing the host nation Ryxtylopia, the Boys in Blue rose to their best form yet — an emphatic 24–10 triumph, silencing a roaring home crowd and booking their ticket to this, the biggest match of them all.” [Cut back to Lazar standing pitchside, the Dalimbari side practicing behind him.] Ignatiyev: “Now, all roads lead here — Dalimbar versus Zoran. Blue versus red. Pride versus barbarism. The world watches as two titans of rugby collide for the greatest prize in international sport. The Dalimbari came to Ryxtylopia not just to bring home the cup, but to defend an ideal — the unity, discipline, and resolve that define our people. And as the anthem is sung on game night, every Dalimbari heart — from Saint Andreisburg to the distant frontiers — will beat as one.” [Crowd chant swells — “Boys in Blue! Boys in Blue!”] Ignatiyev (smiling): “Stay with us here on Free State Television for full coverage, analysis, and live commentary. The Rugby World Cup 6 final — Dalimbar versus Zoran — kicks off shortly. For the Free State, for the blue and white, this is our moment. From Ryxtylopia, I’m Lazar Ignatiyev — and this is World Cup Focus.”
  3. "Oh sweet ancestors, we're facing them again?!" "Those goons? Those weebs? Those... man, if anyone is a barbarian, it's them!" "I wish we could have turned every square meter of their land into a mine field when we had the chance..." The Boys in Blue have just been informed that they will face their nemesis in rugby, Zoran. The Dalimbari squad has faced their ultimate foe three times in the past five tournaments, the first time being in the gold medal match for RWC2, where the Boys in Blue lost 6-10. The next year, the same match up for gold happened, with the Zoranians widening their scoreline against the Dalimbari 12-3. In Saint Andreisburg, the enemy was knocked out early enough that they didn't qualify for the gold, allowing the Dalimbari to face United Adaikes instead and win the first gold for Dalimbar. The third and most recent match between the two heavyweights of international rugby happened in RWC5 in Quarter-Finals, where an already tired Dalimbari side was knocked out early by Zoran, 12-29. "Boys! Keep it together! We're in peak shape. We've taken our time in our previous matches for a damn reason!" shouted Luka Ivica, captain of the squad. They were situated in the locker room after their victory over the hosts of this competition, Ryxtylopia. "Look at what we've done this year! Heavier defence, smothering the opposition while breaking out on the wings when we have the advantage. The Zoranians are a fast bunch, we need to grind them down and really mess with them!" Luka continued, already high on the adrenaline of winning just moments ago. "Broski, I think I hear your phone!" said one of the members of the team to the captain. Luka Ivica downed the remainder of his celebratory vodka, and went to his locker where his phone was located. The number was blocked out but the contact said "MB". "Hello? Ivica speaking, who's this?" he almost shouted into the phone while the rest of the team was still both celebrating victory and yelling strategy for their final match of the year. "Hello Luka, this is Markus Briand. Congratulations on your victory today against the Ryxtylopians! You continue to make the Free State proud! Glory to your ancestors. Listen, Frank and I are going to attend the final game. Just wanted to give you a heads up that not only will the Free State be watching you on television, but that I'll be watching you live. May you bring glory to the Dalimbari and bring the cup home!" With that, the phone clicked. Luka gulped and shook for a second. He felt both pride and a sense of ominous doom now knowing the leader and future leader of his country will be watching his every move in the final match.

  5. Announcement of the Small Business Act In a speech to the Association of Business and Trade of Dalimbar in Saint Andreisburg, Vice-Chairman of Stavka, General Iosip Frank, announced that Stavka is in the process of passing a Small Business Act (SBA). The SBA is designed to increase the economic prosperity of Chodeani, Drinnonese, and Hazarani residents of the Free State, and residents in the "Yugodalia" Administrative Districts, with the ability to establish and control private businesses without the current requirements of a Dalimbari sponsor-investor. "The Free State is in need of innovation and development from all sectors, and what we have is an untapped resource of wealth and entrepreneurship in the resident populations of the Free State, alongside the residents of all the Yugodalian districts. In our drive forward along the path, we must strengthen ourselves economically in order to thrive in an often hostile world." said Gen. Frank. The SBA will be exempted from industries and systems deemed essential for the security of the Free State, however significant sectors of the overall economy will be opened to industrious minority populations. These SBA-companies will be eligible to qualify for loans and other financial benefits in order to spearhead success for the markets they wish to serve. They will also be able to work with the Chiefdom of Finance and Trade on external procurement and export.

  7. Fortress Siniyled, Saint Andreisburg Several hours following the announcement to the Free State and the barbarians beyond the waves on the transition of power, Marshal Briand and General Frank were enjoying several bottles of vodka while watching a repeat of one of the RWC matches. They were in the Marshal's private apartments within the fortress, both of them keen to get away from the rest of Stavka for at least a few moments. "You know, Iosip, when I started this role I thought I was going to die in it. Half of the Marshals... concluded their terms in that fashion. And I'm not talking about the old Vozhds who led from the front." Briand took a sip of his vodka, and looked over at Frank. "Markus, you've been my guide and mentor for years now. It wouldn't serve me well at all for you to be with your ancestors so soon. No, you served Dalimbar so well over the years, you deserve to put your boots up and get a nice dacha." Frank winked at Briand, before downing his own class. Suddenly a soft knock on the door was heard, and both men sighed. "What?" Briand yelled at the door, tempted to throw his glass at it. "My commanders, it is Aleksey here. I have news from my branch you might be interested to hear!" Rear Admiral Aleksey Klement, Chief of External Affairs, said through the door. Briand nodded at Frank who went to the door to allow Klement inside. "Thank you, General Frank. I know you both wanted to be kept informed on how the outside is reacting to the news. The aristocrats over in Saint Mark have sent a cable noting their desire to continue and improve relations. They suggest their interest in you both touring the region." "Hmm, good. What do you think, Markus, up for one last tour before you ride off to your dacha?" Frank cheerfully said to Briand. Briand lit and took a drag from his cigarette. "Fine, but we should see if the Giovannese would also be interested in a visit. Two birds-one stone to keep them on side. Aleksey, get your branch to send a cable back to Saint Mark thanking them and noting our interest in a visit. Also one to Giovanniland asking them if they would be interested in a stop." "Of course, my Marshal. Right away!" Klement quickly exited the room and sprinted back to the External Affairs offices. "I will be happy to not see that man again. Such a suck-up little creep. Make sure you look at his file when you get a chance." Briand moodily said into his glass. "Thanks for making him my problem, Markus. Oh well, I might get a new diplomat once the time is right. But let's not worry about that now, let's watch more of the game."

  10. "Are they making up new countries now?" "Where are they even located?" "Have you heard of them before?" The Boys in Blue were enjoying a post-match dinner together, but instead of eating from the buffet most of the squad were confusedly looking over several maps while taking sips of their vodka. "Oh! Found them!" Terenti Sukhrab, hooker for the squad, exclaimed as he jabbed his index finger at the map. It was the island nation of Jerimiahia, their opponents in the Round of 16. "Has that island always been there? I still think the barbarians are just making up new places now. The Zoranians are already enough of a weird enough people, the Markians so pompous and uptight, and the Dilberians so drugged up that I wouldn't be surprised if one day some group of wayward barbarians just... made up an island to confuse us." ranted Nikolai Blago, the youngest of the active squad who seemingly has consumed the most vodka out of the group by now. "Oh hush, Niki. Let's see what that External Affairs brief binder says about them" said Anton Kirill, grabbing a black binder that provided the team the barest of details about the outside world. Jerimiahia: Small island off the eastern Auran coast. Poor barbarians. "That's... it? That's all those pencil pushers in External Affairs have for us?" growled Anton. "Maybe their team hasn't taken a luxury mission there yet?" muttered Nikolai, before Anton flicks him on his forehead. "Again, hush Niki. Go eat some food. Now, have you been there, Luka?" Anton said to Luka Ivica, captain of the Boys. "No, closest I've been would be Saint Mark. Might be similar? Oh well, just another barbarian to beat. Drink up, lads!" the captain said while sipping from his glass before lighting a cigarette.

  14. During his speech at the Natural Resources Forum in Saint Andreisburg, Major General Asya Smola, Chief of Energy Development, announced that the Free State Hydroelectric Corporation (FS Hydro) will embark on an unprecedented level of construction over the next 10 years, building out the Free State's electricity system to power a growing clean economy and communities, and create new jobs. “We must expand our electrical system like never before, to power industrial development, to power our homes and businesses, to power our future,” said Maj. Gen. Smola. “Clean, affordable energy will help us meet that opportunity, while reducing pollution, securing good-paying jobs and creating new opportunities for our growing economy.” Maj. Gen. Smola noted that a ƒ36-billion investment for community and regional infrastructure projects that will deliver clean, affordable electricity to people and businesses in the future. FS Hydro’s updated 10-year capital plan, Power Pathway: Building Dalimbar's Energy Future, includes almost ƒ36 billion in community and regional infrastructure investments throughout the nation between 1425-26 and 1434-35. This represents an increase of 50% over FS Hydro’s previous capital plan (ƒ24 billion), and includes a significant increase in electrification and emissions-reduction infrastructure projects (nearly ƒ10 billion, up from ƒ1 billion). These new construction projects are projected to support 10,500 to 12,500 jobs on average annually, and will increase and maintain FS Hydro’s capital investments as major projects like Site 6 are completed. The plan reflects growing demand for electricity across sectors due to population growth and housing construction, increased industrial development, and people and businesses diversifying from fossil fuels to clean electricity, among other factors. It includes: building new high-voltage transmission lines and supporting infrastructure in the Far-East to meet industrial customer demand in the that area, including in the mining sector; building or expanding substations and installing new equipment to support residential housing growth and transit electrification in high-growth areas across the Saint Andreisburg metropolitan area; and upgrading Dalimbar’s dams and generating facilities to make them safer, more reliable and more efficient. FS Hydro's goal is to acquire new sources of clean, renewable electricity, including wind and solar. The Free State is well positioned to add additional intermittent renewables to the grid as its integrated, flexible system of hydro-electric dams act as batteries. The reservoirs store water and allow FS Hydro to ramp production up or down almost instantly, providing a reliable back up for when the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing.

  16. Rugby World Cup 6 - Ryxtylopia Welcome back to Rugby Rankings, this time covering the sixth edition in Ryxtylopia. Standard housekeeping as previous editions - New teams to the RWC start off with 45.00 points. Per tradition, RWC5 participants who did not qualify for RWC6 are marked in italics, to give perspective to how current teams stack up against legends and losers from the previous tourny. Here's how the standings look going into Day 1 in Ryxtylopia: Zoran - 63.89 Overthinkers - 56.12 United Adaikes - 54.12 Teralyon - 53.86 Cambria - 53.42 Ostronia - 52.37 Ryxtylopia - 52.35 Dalimbar - 51.78 Giovanniland - 50.31 Fujai - 50.28 Hertfordshire and Jammbo - 50.06 Mygrdiyah - 48.72 Nouveauterra - 48.39 Nalibia - 48.14 Sekiya - 47.83 Saint Mark - 47.28 Arifiyyah - 47.03 Zhiznovsk - 45.92 Min-Su - 45.84 Peourouin - 45.54 Ageros - 45.00 Greiya - 45.00 Inseberistan - 45.00 Jerimiahia - 45.00 Materos - 45.00 Staneburg - 45.00 Zogradia - 45.00 Larxia - 44.79 Rivalfiume - 44.67 Nieubasria - 43.50 Avadonialis - 43.38 Varanius - 41.40 New Velka - 41.24 Einherfell - 39.81 Denieria - 39.61 RWC6 - Day 1 Theme of Day 1 is "home side is stronger side and stronger side won". That being said, the new batch of competitors, often facing off against rugby titans, gained a bit of field experience despite losses and thus gained a few rugby ranking points. This system seems to dislike lop-sided competitions, finding it more honourable to see a clash of titans than a titan beating on a less experienced side. Inseberistan vs Zoran is a perfect example of this, the new team in spite of losing to the strongest team in RWC history, managed to only lose by 5 points and thus the Rugby Rankings system awarded the newbies and penalized the Zoranians by 2.38 ranking points. 17. Boys in Blue Arrive in Ryxtylopia - FSTV Special Report Mijo Zaytsev, Host: Welcome to sunny Tilipaca, where here on the Ryxtylopian coast our Boys in Blue have just arrived for Rugby World Cup 6! I'm your host Mijo Zaytsev reporting to you live from our studio in Tilipaca. We have a full contest ahead of us, with the team from the Free State facing off their Group E competition in the... *Mijo looks at the teleprompter for a moment longer than normal to try to figure out the pronunciation of this barbaric language* MZ: "Iistadioh Dantey Riyavas, and the.. Iistadioh Khalaviy Zarrachey." *the Dalimbari studio audience, which is made up of non-essential members of the logistics team for the Dalimbari squad, does not notice any butchering of this barbaric language* MZ: Teams facing the Boys in Blue in Group E are from Teralyon, Varanius and newcomer Greiya. We are 1-0 over Teralyon in previous Rugby World Cup matches, beating them 19-7 in our third match of our hosted RWC4 tournament, and have not played against either Varanius nor Greiya at a RWC. There is a rumour that some wayward soul from the Free State may have been trying to... help... the Varanians, but we I'm sure the Boys will actually be the ones to help their squad get on the Path and out of our way to bring the Cup home! *applause from the audience* MZ: We have a special treat, ladies and gentlemen. Joining us here in the studio to talk more about the road ahead is our fearless captain of the squad, Luka Ivica! *loud applause, many in the audience look mildly unhinged in their applause for the man the Free State treats almost as a rugby demi-god* Luka Ivica, Captain: Thank you, thank you! *the Captain winks into the camera, shortly after this moment was broadcast in the Free State, it was reported that there were multiple faintings from fans who needed medical attention and were found passed out in front of their devices* MZ: Thank you for being here, Luka, so shortly after you arrived! Obviously there's a few days before your first match against Varanius, but how do you feel about being here Ryxtylopia for your third World Cup? LI: Doing well! I'm glad to be back in the saddle for the Boys, I had a great season playing for Geness but have to hand it to Ignacij and Benedikt with Donuzlav for getting their first Marshal's Cup this year. But we're all happy to be here in a nice sunny location, looks like a great spot to play some world class rugby! MZ: Hopefully the stadiums here can handle a Dalimbari team! *audience whoops* MZ: There's a lot of people supporting you and the rest of the squad, and with this being your third captainship of the national team, who do you go to for advice for the upcoming matches? LI: You know, my mentor was Theodor Rybar, who was captain for the first and second cups, and of course I can't forget my good friend Alexandre Arts who was captain in the third. These guys helped me see a way for us to win back home in Dalimbar. We all hoped for a back-to-back performance, if it wasn't for the crafty Zoranian heathens in the Quarter-finals last time... *the crowd grows almost feral in their booing at mention of the Zoranians* LI: But put it this way, friends. We have had a long walk along the Path and if we find ourselves against the Zoranians again, we will have sweet vengeance and restore the honour of Dalimbar. *the small audience of Dalimbari froth in celebration and the hope of vengeance* *the broadcast carries on but continues to be normal Dalimbari sports-propaganda which may not be of interest to a foreign viewer*

  20. Work In Progress - Full Projection to be posted soon! As many of you know, I'm a political nerd and junky. As a public servant in RL I do not participate in electoral campaigns these days but in the 2010s I was involved in campaigns for the provincial and federal NDP in my local area. I've been doing election projections and forecasts since the late 2000s for pure personal amusement and to help my understanding on how a given race is going. Today, I'm happy to publish my forecast for the 2025 Canadian federal election, with the first results from Newfoundland and Labrador most likely being announced shortly after 7pm EDT Monday night, and then moving across the country throughout the night. Polls close in each region in this general order: Newfoundland - 8:30pm NDT, 8:00pm ADT, 7:00pm EDT, 6:00pm CDT, 5:00pm MDT, 4:00pm PDT Atlantic - 9:00pm NDT, 8:30pm ADT, 7:30pm EDT, 6:30pm CDT, 5:30pm MDT, 4:30pm PDT Quebec/Ontario - 11:00pm NDT, 10:30pm ADT, 9:30pm EDT, 8:30pm CDT, 7:30pm MDT, 6:30pm PDT Manitoba - 11:00pm NDT, 10:30pm ADT, 9:30pm EDT, 8:30pm CDT, 7:30pm MDT, 6:30pm PDT Saskatchewan/Alberta - 11:00pm NDT, 10:30pm ADT, 9:30pm EDT, 8:30pm CDT, 7:30pm MDT, 6:30pm PDT British Columbia - 11:30pm NDT, 11:00pm ADT, 10:00pm EDT, 9:00pm CDT, 8:00pm MDT, 7:00pm PDT Headline Polling Numbers Due to how geographically diverse our country is, polling is often analyzed by the headline federal numbers for each party, but perhaps more importantly by the "regional" numbers. Although there are 10 provinces and 3 territories, standard polling practice is to poll the country based off of the following regions: Atlantic (which is Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick), Quebec, Ontario, the Prairies (Manitoba and Saskatchewan), Alberta, and British Columbia. This is due to the lower populations in the Atlantic and Prairie provinces and resulting sample sizes. For the territories I group them in the following fashion: Nunavut's projection is tied in with the Prairies, Northwest Territories is with Alberta, and Yukon is with British Columbia. In the below section I'll show where polling has each party in each region and also noting the difference from what they scored in the 2021 election: CANADA - Liberal Party of Canada LIB 42.50% (+9.88), Conservative Party of Canada CON 38.83% (+5.09), New Democratic Party of Canada NDP 8.63% (-9.19), Bloc Quebecois BLQ 6.00% (-1.64), Green Party of Canada GRN 2.00% (-0.33), People's Party of Canada PPC 1.23% (-3.70), Other Parties/Independents OTH 0.80% (-0.11) Atlantic - LIB 54.87% (+11.27), CON 35.33% (+3.79), NDP 6.50% (-10.42), GRN 1.63% (-1.55), PPC 1.37% (-2.99), OTH 0.30% (-0.10) Quebec - LIB 40.63% (+7.03), BLQ 25.87% (-6.26), CON 23.70% (+5.05), NDP 5.83% (-3.94), GRN 1.77% (+0.24), PPC 1.37% (-1.32), OTH 0.83% (-0.80) Ontario - LIB 47.60% (+8.34), CON 39.87% (+5.00), NDP 8.20% (-9.65), GRN 2.03% (-0.19), PPC 1.43% (-4.02), OTH 0.87% (+0.52) Prairies - CON 48.87% (+0.28), LIB 36.30% (+16.61), NDP 11.50% (-10.60), GRN 1.43% (+0.03), PPC 1.13% (-6.01), OTH 0.77% (-0.32) Alberta - CON 59.40% (+4.13), LIB 27.73% (+12.28), NDP 8.93% (-10.14), PPC 2.17% (-5.18), GRN 1.17% (+0.26), OTH 0.60% (-1.34) British Columbia - LIB 40.73% (+13.73), CON 39.23% (+6.01), NDP 13.90% (-15.27), GRN 3.67% (-1.62), PPC 1.63% (-3.28), OTH 0.88% (+0.43) There are a few events in play: Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre (running in Carleton, ON) has been running a populist conservative campaign which has removed the PPC from play on his right-flank, along with grabbing the attention of those who feel angry and/or left behind by the past 10 years of Liberal government. This is why he will probably receive the best popular vote that any centre-right politician has in the post-1993 modern Canadian system. The threat of Donald Trump (and how Poilievre looks Trump-lite) and the perceived competency of Liberal leader Mark Carney (running in Nepean, ON) in the face of Trump (or in general compared to Trudeau) has moved NDP, Green, and even a good number of Bloc Quebecois voters over to the Liberals. Trump absolutely scares us and any time he mentions "51st State" or announces a new round of tariff, we wrap our red-and-white maple leaf flag around us even harder. The NDP led by Jagmeet Singh (running in Burnaby Centre, BC), Bloc Quebecois led by Yves-Francois Blanchet (running in Beloeil--Chambly, QC) and Greens co-led by Elizabeth May (running in Saanich--Gulf Islands, BC) and Jonathan Pedneault (running in Outremont, QC) are all urging their supporters to keep supporting their parties to provide somewhat of a check on a Carney-led Liberal majority government, to apparent limited success. The critical issue of the campaign has been Canadian sovereignty/who can be the best to stand up for Canada against Trump, followed by affordability/cost of living which was the top issue before Trump returned and started to bully us. Before the election the other major issue, fatigue with Justin Trudeau, was removed from the equation when over the winter his party finally broke with him and he announced he would resign after a new leader was found, allowing Mark Carney (who has served as Governor of the Central Bank of Canada and then of England) to launch a very successful campaign to become the Liberal standard-bearer. The consumer-side of the Carbon Tax was also removed as a campaign issue (which was seen as an affordability/cost of living issue for many Canadians who hated high gas and other prices) for the most part when Carney became PM just before the campaign officially started and changed the taxation rate to 0%, effectively removing the consumer-side of the Carbon Tax while generally leaving the industrial-side of said tax. Headline Seat Numbers Of course, the popular vote does not actually determine who forms government in Canada, it is the number of MPs a Prime Minister can count on to deliver confidence. In both the 2019 and 2021 elections, the Conservatives won the popular vote by roughly 1% over the Liberals, and yet because of how solid the Conservative vote is in rural Canada (particularly across Alberta and Saskatchewan, and rural parts of BC, Manitoba and Ontario) and inefficient elsewhere, the Liberals under Justin Trudeau in both of those elections won a plurality of seats in the House and kept government, either working bill-by-bill with any opposition party who wanted to work with them (or more likely, abstain on the bill), or form a confidence and supply agreement as what happened between 2022 and 2024 with the Liberal government and the NDP. Based off of the map of ridings in the country, and where people are, it is common assumption that if the Conservatives want to form a minority government they need to have at least 2-3% above the Liberals, and would need 4%+ to get a majority depending on how the other parties do in their respective areas. And yet, here are the seat projections I get with the numbers today: LIB - 188 CON - 126 BLQ - 21 NDP - 6 GRN - 2 PPC - 0 OTH - 0 How did I get these numbers? In the past election we had 338 ridings, in this one we have 343. Elections Canada and other sources provide good data on how to transpose the prior election onto the new boundaries, and from that data I use a regional-swing model (with some adjustments in seats for local conditions) to get the below seat projections. In the below section, I sort ridings into sub-regions, note beside the riding name which party current holds the seat, and then show the expected percentages for each party running in the seat. If it has this colour as with its name then that is a riding which is within 10 points margin between the first and second placed party and thus is what I figure is a "battleground" riding.
