    Fujais Idrottsforbund (FIF)

Fujais Idrottsforbund is the federation of labor unions representing all sports players and workers in sports-associated industries. It is separate from the Fujansk government, but receives accreditation and financial and infrastructural support from it. Its structure includes clubs at the local level (e.g. a local sports club), which are constituents of fylke organizations, which are a part of the larger federation representing specific sports (e.g. Fujais Fotbollforbund for football), which are then members of FIF. FIF is a member of the Rhodoniad and OCTWPUS (Olympic Council of The West Pacific Union of Sports), and is Fujai's representative to the Olympic Council.

    Fujais Fotbollforbund (FjFF)

Fujais Fotbollforbund is the governing body of football in Fujai and represents all players, related workers, and clubs in the country. It governs Fujai's league system, consisting of Fyrstserien, Annarserien, Tredjeserien, and the landsdel leagues. Fylke leagues and lower are organized by the the fylke organizations.

    Interesting tidbits:

    • Hafstrand 07, one of the best supported clubs in the country, had a dreadful year, falling from 10th to 12th on the last matchday. You can bet they'll be out for blood in Annarserien next year.
    • The four largest clubs continued their dominance, with Bruland, Trondsnes, Almoren, and Solbakken all finishing in the top five.
    • AS Savigny-Bilten, off its merger of AS Savigny and Bilten FC a few years ago, charted one of its highest finishes yet. Both teams were founded in the early 1300s by Reçuecian immigrants.

    Interesting tidbits:

    • Lindskrona and Ossen, relegated from Fyrstserien just last year topped the series to return to the top flight.
    • Keiserholde Tretønnar, the nation's winningest club in its heyday fifty years ago (and retains the dislike of much of the country to this day), was once again kept from reentering Fyrstserien.

    Interesting tidbits:

    • Everyone in the nation became Vaden fans over the course of the cup. In the first round, they defeated Keiserholde Tretønnar. In the second they stunned the country by defeating a big four team in one of the highest scoring matches we've seen in a while, going all the way to penalty kicks. In the next round, they played against similarly ranked Nore, soundly beating them and moving to the Kamp. They faced two top flight teams, one of which a big four, and made it to the final. That, however, was where their cinderella story ended, as they lost to Rønnhavn by one penalty kick.
    • Solbakken, one of the big four and last year's cup champions, were removed in the first round in a no holds barred match with local Keiserholde rivals and fellow big four team, Bruland, who were removed in the Kamp by the Annarserien side Vaden.

  3. Autumn is my second favorite season, just behind winter, because it ends the oppressive heat and humidity of summer. I finally get to wear jackets and sweaters without dying (because I do that in summer too :P), everything's comfy outside and inside, the leaves are changing, and Halloween is right around the corner. Note that around here, late September usually has the tail end of Summer's weather, so all of this applies more to October, but hey, it's the thought that counts.

The spring equinox is usually soggy or snowy, the latter of which is greatly preferred.

  4. I hate to be a bother (and double-poster), but I had incorrectly assumed that the HoN mask had access to the printing press subforum, so even though the newspaper mask hasn't been created, my staff can't access it yet and we need to be able to finalize planning as soon as we can. If there's any way this could be expedited I would be extremely grateful!

  5. Guide to TWP Roleplay and
    Esferos Lore Introduction

    5iKgDPg.png

The Map of Esferos can be found on the TWP Roleplay Discord server

    TABLE OF CONTENTS:

    • Welcome to the map!
    • Where can I RP?
    • A brief "Session Zero" for TWP Roleplay
    • Esferos lore introduction

    Welcome to the map!

The center of roleplay in TWP is the map of our world, which is called Esferos. Our canon is tied to the map and our stories are built by our community—whether you're into nation building, international affairs, or rootin' tootin' cowboys, you'll find something that grips you here. There's no telling how deep you'll go!

Citizens of The West Pacific can request a place on the map to develop a history, culture, and people for their nation. While collaborating with others, you will create roleplay like factbooks, news, stories, or sports—essentially, whatever you want to do with your nation within reason. The current RP year is 1422 AF, this translates to modern-day Earth. Most technologies are also roughly equivalent to the modern day.

Before we get too into things, if you have any questions, you may address them to one of the Lorekeepers on the TWP Roleplay Discord server.

    Where can I roleplay?

TWP's two roleplay locations are the regional forums and the TWP Roleplay discord. However, these two places have different uses.

    TWP Forums

TWP's forums are the official home of TWP's roleplaying—there are four roleplay subforums available for use:

And of course the RP Archive, which is, as you guessed, where really old clutter goes.

    RP Discord

The TWP Roleplay Discord server is the home of OOC discussion and worldbuilding. Its activities include nation building, arts and crafts, regional planning, and all sorts of other things, but it is not the place for in-character (IC) talk. It is also not a gameplay or foreign affairs Discord, nor a substitute for the general chat and spam functions of main TWP server.

You can find an overview of the server's rules, roles, and channels and links to helpful resources in the #welcome-info channel.

    Roleplay Resources

    • Official Resources
      • RP Spreadsheet - This contains the core statistics and basic information for all nations on the map, including capitals, land area, population, languages, and much more.
      • Session Zero Guidance - This guidance forms the basis of our shared world. No one is allowed to go against the guidelines set in the Guidance.
    • Unofficial Resources

A brief "Session Zero" for TWP Roleplay

The term "Session Zero" comes from tabletop roleplaying games, in which before a campaign starts, the game master sits down with the players to introduce the setting, set boundaries, and clarify expectations for the coming games. For our uses, it refers to the most basic rules and customs you need to know before starting to build your nation on Esferos.

When in doubt or in need of help/guidance, ask the Lorekeepers. They are all experienced in subjects related to wordbuilding such as history, military studies, archaeology, anthropology, and political and international studies. They also guide the balance, quality, and realism of our shared world, and may take action to enforce it.

    Balance

    • An overriding goal of TWP Roleplay is balance—this means everything good comes with drawbacks. No nation can be good at everything, just as no nation can be bad at everything.

    You cannot “win” the spreadsheet

    • Your goal should not be to have the highest number on a sheet. Having a high population, a high GDP per capita, or high military spending each have their own drawbacks. It is a balance.

    Realism

    • Technological realism:
      • Existing technologies with widespread implementation, such as cell phones or helicopters, are fair play.
      • Advanced technologies with limited or experimental implementation, such as fully autonomous vehicle fleets or advanced laser weapons systems, are guided by balance: if a real-life analogue nation has access to a technology, then you may attempt to justify that access by defining the balance.
    • Historical realism:
      • Real-life religions and languages do not exist on Esferos. Similarly, you cannot use RL religious symbols in your IC religion. You may reference them as inspiration or ‘flavour’ out-of-character. Using similar inspirations to other nations does not mean your nation must be related to them.
      • Your nation didn't always exist in its current form. People probably lived there for thousands of years, but much of it was in a very different form to modern life. It's unlikely that the exact same political entity that exists today existed hundreds of years ago.
      • Ancient developments should follow a timescale with reference or similarity to the real world. If you are interested in exploring the ancient history of your region of Esferos, you should look into real-world societal developments for similar regions and timespans on Earth.
      • Modern developments should also reference the real world. For example, the ‘Industrial Revolution' was a process which unfolded at different scales and speeds around the world from 1760 to today.
      • International relations don't have to be cordial, and your nation can have been friendly and have histories with countries your nation isn't friendly with today.
    • Miscellaneous realism:
      • Just as RL religions and languages don’t exist here, RL places don’t exist either. Do not name your nation, cities, and other things after prominent RL places like “Shanghai”. Exceptions are common given names like “Georgetown”. If you need help coming up with names, ask in the Discord or check out a random name generator.
      • There is no magic. That doesn’t mean people can’t believe something is miraculous or magical, but you cannot state as an OOC fact that it is.
      • You should make distinctions between historical, semi-legendary, and legendary events and figures.
      • Just because something is not an OOC fact does not mean that it cannot be believed to be fact IC.
      • The laws of physics are as we understand them in the real world. They cannot be manipulated or exploited in any extraordinary way.
      • Humans are the only available species to roleplay as.

The current year is not the beginning of your nation’s story

    • We recommend avoiding the propensity to make big events happen in the current year; you should roleplay past events or allow them to be a historical fact.
      • Just because you weren’t playing your nation before does not mean it didn’t exist or have relationships. Talk to neighbours and define your historical relationships with them, it’s all part of the fun!

War is difficult, messy, and detailed

    • There is no total victory. You should find some drawback or disadvantage to your activity—there’s no fun in always winning all the time.
    • Just because you have a large army and say military spending is 50% of your GDP doesn’t mean you win. Be tactful and realistic; look to real life examples and ask the Lorekeepers for help if you need it.
      • Yes, North Korea is a “real life example” but their level of expenditure is an extreme outlier and comes at great cost.
    • Border changes will not happen without Loremaster approval. This would be dependent on quality and content of roleplay.
    • Remember that matters of war and military are subject to oversight by the Lorekeepers for balance and realism purposes.

You are not a “recently discovered tribe”, and avoiding other common tropes

    • There are no “undiscovered” nations on our map, just as there are none on Earth.
    • If your nation is “opening up diplomatic and foreign relationships after a long period of isolationism” you are not going to be up to the modern standard of life or technology.

    Continents are not “Teams”

    • The Continental Congresses don't have meaning beyond out-of-character (OOC) planning. There is no IC organization called a "Continental Congress".
    • In the Continental Congress channels, we come together to plan histories, geography, and other things that affect our neighbors, but the goal isn't one continent-spanning intergovernmental organization. Avoid treating continents as teams.

    A few community rules

    • Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Worldbuilding and RP can be daunting, but you’re not alone—we’re a community.
    • Roleplay is multilateral, which means every party has to agree—you only participate in ways you agree to. If any issues arise, please let one of the moderators know.
    • Along with this is zero tolerance for hate imagery or masked clones or iterations of nations like Nazi Germany.

This section is adapted from the TWP RP20 Guidance and Rebalancing, which includes a slightly more in-depth version of the Session Zero.

    Esferos lore introduction

    Geography

Our planet is called Esferos, a medium-sized terrestrial world orbiting a gas giant around a binary star, and is the only astronomical object known to support life. Its surface covered mostly by oceans, with a handful of major continents and numerous smaller island chains.

The five continents of Esferos are Andolia, Aura, Doll Guldur, Nur, and Polaris.

    • Andolia is located in the southern hemisphere — a land of broad grasslands and forests in the east, mountainous shores in the west, and deserts and rainforests in between. Andolia also has the most active volcanos of any continent.
    • Aura is regarded by some as the historical center of Esferos — much of the southern part of the continent is tropical, covered in lush rainforests and fertile plains, while the north is much more arid and contains the world's largest desert.
    • Doll Guldur is a rugged land in the northeast of the region — its terrain is made up of great plains and wide forests, with shattered mountain chains along the eastern coasts. Doll Guldur also contains the world's largest endorheic basin.
    • Nur is located far to the east the other continents — its surface is covered by plains and rainforests in the north to mountains, temperate forests, and steppe in the south. Nur is the largest and least densely populated continent of Esferos.
    • Polaris is located in the far north — it is a land of great forests and greater mountains in the west, grasslands and hills in the east, and desert in the center and south. It is also home to the largest freshwater lake in the world.

    Miscellanea

    • The international language of Esferos is called 'Common'—it originated as a trade pidgin among sailors in the Darkesian Sea and spread from there. Out of character, most players use English to approximate it, but it is not related to English in-character.
    • Esferos is a multipolar world—no single power international power has the strength to dominate the others.

We encourage you to join our RP Discord before you submit your territorial claim for the map. Ideally, we'd like everyone to have the opportunity to get to know the different regions of the map (geographically and culturally) and see who is active there so you can decide which area is the right fit for you, as opposed to throwing a dart at the map.

    The Mapplication™ Thread
Apply within to join the world of Esferos, home of TWP Roleplay

    34gXmkR.png

Current map version 0.9 beta, updated 13 Feb. 2022

Joining and staying on the map

In order to join the map, you must follow these steps:

    1. Join and introduce yourself on the main TWP Discord server and the TWP Roleplay Discord server
    2. Read the Guide to TWP Roleplay & Esferos Lore Introduction
    3. Apply to become a member of the Hall of Nations
    4. Submit your Mapplication™ to this thread once you have applied. See below for Mapplication™ instructions

The map is updated monthly—to stay on it you must remain active, which requires you to:

    • Maintain your Hall of Nations membership—this includes making at least one post (new thread or reply) per month anywhere on the forums
    • Engage in the Roleplay Discord at least once every three months

Becoming inactive or leaving the region immediately forfeits your place on the map and in the canon unless you first talk with the Cartography Board. Inactive nations with significant contribution to the canon may become NPCs controlled by the Loremasters instead of being removed entirely.

    How to submit your Mapplication™

iwbLqxJm.pngMapplications™ must be submitted as a reply to this thread. Below, you will find the Mapplication™ form to paste into a reply and fill out.

Submitting your Mapplication™ will begin a process where statistics and realism will be discussed with the Cartography Board. It is important to note that this process is not a negotiation—the community standards for realism will be met, but we encourage you to meet them creatively. If you have questions about specifics, or do not fit in a particular answer category, read the background material and explain where you may land on each of the Indices. Joining the TWP Roleplay Discord server is heavily encouraged for more involved help in this process.

The name that appears on the map for your nation must be reasonably realistic—if the name you choose does not meet the canon standards, you will be notified by a member of the Cartography Board. Your map nation's name does not need to match your resident nation's name.

You may request a premade area (outlined on the map in grey) or draw an area of your own. If you draw your own, please take a screenshot of the map and mark the territory you would like to request, like the example image provided in this section. Major cities and other features are also welcome. Please review the Esferos Topographic Map and Biome Map to inform your nation's placement, as geographic features and environments will not be changed to suit your desires after placement.

    Mapplication™ format

Copy and paste this form into your reply and fill it out. You can find a completed example below the Mapplication™.

Exampletopia is a cautious country, trying to actively balance its de facto dependency on its developed and economically-stronger neighbours. It will likely welcome ties with far-flung nations it think can offer it something.

Any other inspirations or concepts you want to share: Recently, Exampletopia has been trying to promote the nation's newer government-built casinos as a tourist draw and a way to generate revenue in international currency because our currency is suffering massive inflation.

Exampletopia has the welcoming, warm energy of a Caribbean nation but its residents have the temperament of the villagers of a small Eastern European town that hasn't been visited by outsiders since the 1600s. They're happy to have you over for dinner but have NO idea how to relate to others.

    UNDERSTRUKTUR // INFRASTRUCTURE

Let's get wild today. I guess that would be considered a UFO. A big cotton ball in the sky. You have to allow the paint to break to make it beautiful. We don't make mistakes we just have happy little accidents.

Just let your mind wander and enjoy. This should make you happy. If it's not what you want - stop and change it. Don't just keep going and expect it will get better. You have freedom here. The only guide is your heart. We don't want to set these clouds on fire. These things happen automatically. All you have to do is just let them happen.

We can always carry this a step further. There's really no end to this. Let's build an almighty mountain. In your world you can create anything you desire.

We'll throw some old gray clouds in here just sneaking around and having fun. Talent is a pursued interest. That is to say, anything you practice you can do. Working it up and down, back and forth.

    ECONOMY

I will take some magic white, and a little bit of Vandyke brown and a little touch of yellow. Trees grow in all kinds of ways. They're not all perfectly straight. Not every limb is perfect. This is your world.

We start with a vision in our heart, and we put it on canvas. Everything is happy if you choose to make it that way. With something so strong, a little bit can go a long way. Remember how free clouds are. They just lay around in the sky all day long.

And maybe, maybe, maybe... A little happy sunlight shining through there. See there, told you that would be easy. Let's have a happy little tree in here.

It is a lot of fun. Let's put a touch more of the magic here. You can create beautiful things - but you have to see them in your mind first. We'll put some happy little leaves here and there. It's amazing what you can do with a little love in your heart.

There are no mistakes. You can fix anything that happens. You can't have light without dark. You can't know happiness unless you've known sorrow. Water's like me. It's laaazy ... Boy, it always looks for the easiest way to do things You want your tree to have some character. Make it special. Tree trunks grow however makes them happy. Little trees and bushes grow however makes them happy.

This is the fun part You've got to learn to fight the temptation to resist these things. Just let them happen. You gotta think like a tree. Use what happens naturally, don't fight it. Let's make some happy little clouds in our world.

I really recommend you use odorless thinner or your spouse is gonna run you right out into the yard and you'll be working by yourself. If you don't think every day is a good day - try missing a few. You'll see. The only prerequisite is that it makes you happy. If it makes you happy then it's good. Be brave. You can create beautiful things - but you have to see them in your mind first.

Use your imagination, let it go. Be so very light. Be a gentle whisper. Van Dyke Brown is a very nice brown, it's almost like a chocolate brown.

    POLITIKK // POLITICS

The government of Fujai is a communal socialist directorial republic split into three branches: the legislative, executive, and mediative. Legislative power is placed in the Velkting, the parliament; executive power is placed in the Statsråd, the council; mediative, or judicial power, is placed in the Statsmidjerjon. Statsråd collectively serves as the head of state and government.

    Velktinget

The Velkting is Fujai’s parliament, made up of 211 Velktingsrepresentants (VRs). The Velkting has been a unicameral body since the Folkskongress of 1316 abolished the former upper house, the Højting, among other things. The Velkting is seated in Velktingshuset inside Solrunsborg, Grønnevej 100, Keiserholde.

    Functions and Members

The Velkting’s duties focus on acting as the peoples’ representatives, lawmaking, policy, and the running of the Fujansk government. Apart from these, the Velkting has the power to call snap elections for itself and the Statsråd with 60% support. The Velkting elects the Høytalar, the speaker, who is one of the most prominent public figures in Fujai. They are typically the leader of the largest party in the Velkting, though there have been exceptions to that custom.

Velktingsrepresentants must be Fujansk residents of at least 16 years of age at the time of election. VRs are elected for a maximum of two three-year terms.

    Elections

Velktingsrepresentants are elected directly using a mixed-member proportional system, where voters cast ranked preference votes for their mixed member district and a vote for political party. 100 VRs are elected through multi-member districts, while the remaining 111 VRs are chosen from open party lists to achieve a proportional distribution of political parties. Elections in Fujai are overseen by the Statskjøsingkomisjon (informally known as Kjøsa).

    Statsråd

The Statsråd is the council that serves as the executive power of Fujai. It consists of seven directly elected members, the Rådgafar, who each head one of the seven Ministerjonor. The chair of the council is the Rådsrodd, whose deputy is the Annarrådsrodd, commonly called the Rodd and Annar, respectively.

    Elections

Elections for the Statsråd are held yearly concurrently with Velkting elections. Rådgafar are directly elected to specific seats on the Statsråd by ranked choice vote for up to three one-year terms. The positions of Rodd and Annar are elected yearly by approval vote among all candidates running for Rådgafar, and may only serve in that capacity once. Only Velktingsrepresentants are eligible to stand for election and must give up their seat if elected.

Snap elections for all members of the Statsråd (and Velkting) may be called by the Velkting once per year, though not within three months of a regularly scheduled election. Rådgafar elected in this way serve out the rest of their term.

Recall elections for individual Rådgafar may be initiated with 70% support in the Velkting, or by successful public petition.

    Functions and Members

The Rådgafar serve as the heads of Fujai's seven Ministerjonor and they serve as the collective head of government of Fujai—no single member is vested with executive power. The Rådsrodd serves merely as a spokesperson and meeting convenor, and not as a leader, per se. The Utanriksrådgafar performs many of the foreign relations tasks that heads of state perform in many other countries.

    SAGA // HISTORY

Get tough with it, get strong. We'll make some happy little bushes here. You can work and carry-on and put lots of little happy things in here. If I paint something, I don't want to have to explain what it is. A fan brush is a fantastic piece of equipment. Use it. Make friends with it. Let that brush dance around there and play.

We can fix anything. If you do too much it's going to lose its effectiveness. What the devil. This is an example of what you can do with just a few things, a little imagination and a happy dream in your heart.

And I will hypnotize that just a little bit. This is your creation - and it's just as unique and special as you are. Isn't that fantastic?

All you have to learn here is how to have fun. There comes a nice little fluffer. Working it up and down, back and forth.

  11. If you could restrict the Printing Press to the newspaper mask (and higher ranking masks like minister/guardian/delegate as well, I assume), I would be greatly appreciative! The folks who should have newspaper mask are:

    @Aelitia @Dilber @Mia @Dalimbar @Reçueçn @Sensorland @Giovanniland @Darkesia @de la Fuentana @Boda @Podium @Teralyon

On the form subject, it was a little more curiosity of what was possible. Laz was using a form stored directly on their forums (not embedded in a post), that, once someone fills it out, it creates a post by them with their responses in a specific subforum. I can do ministry apps pretty easy in a single thread, so it's not of as much use to me personally, but @Overthinkers may or may not find it intriguing for citizenship apps.

  12. I'm planning on using the Printing Press subforum for the newspaper, is it publicly viewable or is there a mask that controls access to it?

Unrelated edit: I was looking around on other regions' forums to see what kinds of things they're doing, and I noticed that a number of them have built-in application forms that automatically create a post from the response—is there something like that that we have access to? I grabbed a screenshot from Laz if that helps get across what I'm talking about:

Fujais Utanriksministerjonet would first like to thank the Estates-Ministry for their timely and detailed responses to our concerns. While insightful, they were, from our perspective, not all in the direction we had hoped the Working Group would choose.

FIrstly, it is the Utanriksministerjon's position that the personal security of Fujansk citizens is of the highest concern, and that the physical security of passports falls second. The standards and recommendations listed in DOC 1-10 through 1-12 we hope, will be adequate to ensure such security. However, from our current position outside the Working Group, we believe that DOC-1-12's statement on implementation of data-skimming prevention protocols should be a required part of the proposed standards, or the identities of millions could be at risk if states choose not to implement them.

Secondly, and related, will systems of enforcement put into place to ensure that the Working Group's standards are upheld by member states, or are these standards simply to provide a baseline in the hopes that other states follow the minimum recommendations?

Thirdly, with respect to entry requirements, we are concerned by the idea that citizens of states that do not follow any or all of these standards would receive unfavorable treatment when compared to treatment before the Working Group's standards were developed. As it stands, there are enough instances of recommendations over requirements in these standards that the security they claim can be compromised easily with the correct technology, making such distinctions somewhat of a double standard.

Fourthly, while the Utanriksministerjon is well aware that many of these issues are, at the moment, matters of individual sovereign states alone, we caution that a false sense of security may be fostered by making such crimes as forgery more difficult through the inclusion of ICs while potentially making identity theft easier.

  14. ajAK3vF.png

While international cooperation in all areas is a laudable goal, and one we would like to support, the Fujansk Utanriksministerjon has a number of concerns regarding the safety and security of the eMRTD initiative, laid out as follows:

    1. The initiative is meant to combat theft of physical travel documents, but it seems to be woefully lacking similar discussion on the consequences of the theft of the electronic information stored within the contactless IC. Without proper security and encryption on ICs, they would lower security instead of increasing it.
    2. To this effect, what assurances can the Working Group give us that, should we join the initiative, our citizens' personal information will be safe from theft and misuse?
    3. Should Fujai decline to include biometric data on an IC and the Working Group creates its own standards, can we be assured that our citizens would continue to receive the same treatment in Working Group countries that they do today?

DU-UKH, UUK – Keiserholde, Fujai — Hej folks, Berit here from DU-UKH, Den Blå Duken, UiKeiserholde's officially unofficial student radio. Jens is on "assignment" so it's just me for today's Idrottsminutt, and Fujai is in the FINAL!!!!

Over the last couple days, we've plunged forward into playoffs, coming out with some pretty tense wins. Honestly I'm surprised but incredibly grateful that we've somehow made it this far. First in the quarters, we scraped by against the small(er) nation of Taledo, from off in Doll Guldur, with only 3 points to their nothing. The first two points came in the second half as Bertil Vik scored a penalty kick after being tackled by Taledan full back Barza Nicolo while not having possession. The third came after an impressive drop kick with ten minutes left by Farre Jorg.

The Semifinal at Stade de la Réformation in Genève was accompanied by another protest. After the arrests at the Dalimbari Embassy, the FRF and Fujansk government were furious at Chief of Police Rocher-Éby for ordering protesters arrested and called for their immediate release. While the protest was indeed peaceful, the arrests occurred after firecrackers were used, assumedly symbolizing the Dalimbari land mines. Due to the lack of a case against them, the protesters arrested were released the next day by court order.

Vann I do ramble off sometimes. Today's protests consisted of a large number of Fujansk fans unveiling a giant version of the same red Dalimbari flag that had been seen at the embassy. As the banner was only unveiled after extended time—when the most people would be paying attention—stadium and police officials did not intervene. After the game, and impromptu protest was held outside Stade de la Réformation by the Fujansk supporters, centering around a 15-person marching band adorned in red and white.

But the real kicker at the Semi was an incredibly tense comeback after the match ended naught naught and headed into overtime. The Landslag pulled through at minutes 6 and 8 for two tries and one successful goal kick.

In the Final we'll be seeing Hertferdshire and Jammbo for the first time. Their side is very offensively minded, while ours is heavily defensive, so you might want to watch for sparks when they meet. In non-sports news, however, it was discovered that Prime Minister Clarkov Ongo Clarkson of Hertferdshire and Jammbo personally attended the Embassy protest, which has further stirred the tensions surrounding the Cup. The Dalimbari junta is pressuring the international community to denounce Clarkov's presence, but has not demanded consequences—probably because they don't care so long as they have a wall of land mines to hide behind.

ANYway, that's all for today's Idrottsminutt, and I'll see you tomorrow for the recap!

Statsråd statement regarding the protests in Reçueçn

The Statsråd supports the aims of the independently organized protests in Reçueçn and other locations in northern Polaris against Dalimbari land mine practices. We, in our capacity as the representatives of the Fujansk people, claim no responsibility for organizing or providing material support for the protests in any way. FIF and FRF's decisions are made independent of government involvement, and no government support allocated to the Landslaget i Rugby will go toward organizing these protests.

To that effect, the Statsråd will be in contact with the governments of several other nations to put pressure on Dalimbar to end the use of land mines, which permanently scars the land and makes areas unsafe for human and faunal habitation.

    Signed in conference,

    Statsrådet

    DU-UKH, UUK – Keiserholde, Fujai —

JENS: Hey there folks! I'm Jens—

    BERIT: And I'm Berit!

JENS: Yes, thank you Berit. We're from DU-UKH, Den Blå Duken, UiKeiserholde's officially unofficial student radio.

BERIT: And I refused to let Jens take over Idrottsminutt today so here we both are, because sports and politics have had a weird way of connecting together lately...

JENS: Okay now that you mention it, yeah, nearly every bit of political news has come in the midst of an international sports competition.

    BERIT: Weird.

    JENS: Weird.

    BERIT: ...

    JENS: ...

BERIT: I'm no expert but repeating your cohost doesn't make the best content, pal. [Berit laughs] So we have some developments in the tensions at the Rugby World Cup in Reçueçn. This is a radio show but [wheels squeak in the background] I need a whiteboard to keep my head straight. So, sports in Fujai are administered at the top by Fujansk Idrottsforbund, or FIF, and its constituent unions, including the FRF, or Fujansk Rugby Forbund. Unlike in most other countries, these are actual trade unions, made up of the players, staff, and everyone who works in sports.

JENS: That all makes perfect sense, but it gets weird when the government gets involved. The Landslagar [national teams] are supported and sanctioned by the Kulturministerjon's Idrottsbyrå. So they're independent but are also representatives of the government, in a certain sense. This matters because FRF voted to organize the protest against Dalimbar's land mines while at a government sanctioned and supported event.

    BERIT: Sticky indeed.

JENS: But the Statsråd has issued an announcement that they are not providing military support to the protests, so an international incident on that scale should be avoided. Or at least I hope.

BERIT: The FRF has, however, decided that the Landslag members will not be participating in the protests, as they are better suited to humiliating the Dalimbari on the field as opposed to being arrested by overzealous Reçueçian police officers.

JENS: Ugh, as much as I love Reçueçn, it's really surprising that they still use something so arcane as police. The amount of oversight needed alone is entirely prohibitive in the whole operation.

BERIT: I know, It'll be a big test for the protesters, I'm sure. But anyway, enough about that, we have scores!!! [air horns play] The Landslag pulled out the stops for a 24-10 win against the Marsupials, coming back after their loss to Giovanniland yesterday. Unless we lose big time tomorrow against Teralyon, a spot in the quarterfinals should be ours! Depending on the results in group A, and assuming we keep our second place spot in our group, we should be playing against Taledo, or less likely, Reçueçn.

    Dalimbari Embassy
    Reçueçn, Reçueçn

A police cordon surrounds the Dalimbari embassy as a crowd of around four hundred gathers around it. Most are wearing red and black, carrying signs and banners displaying anti-land mine slogans, but the most prominent symbol is of the Dalimbari eagle on a red field, painted over with a black stripe. Dozens of signs and flags carry it, and those in front hold a large banner with it saying "SPRENG MINA / BLOW THE MINES".

The crowd was shouting chants and singing songs at the embassy until a person near the banner stood up on a box, carrying a megaphone.

"We Fujansk have a long history of fighting against Dalimbari oppression. Our relatives live across the border and experience the junta's force firsthand. We and the Cambrians faced them in the Old Wars, and we have guarded our lands since .

The Dalimbari minefields stretch for miles beyond their border. No one knows how far, because the military will not let them look. No one know how many humans and animals they kill, because the military will not tell us.

This is but one of the many crimes the Dalimbari junta must answer for, and evidently we are those who must call attention to them!"

The person speaking then stepped down and began shouting chants into the megaphone once more, and the crowd, renewed by the brief speech, among others throughout the day, began shouting once more in earnest.

    Then they threw the firecrackers.

DU-UKH, UUK – Keiserholde, Fujai — Well hey there folks! I'm Jens from DU-UKH, Den Blå Duken, UiKeiserholde's officially unofficial student radio. We've taken over the Idrottsminutt's spot (sorry not sorry Berit) but we've got some interesting news for you!

Late last night, protests began in Sankt Aiden against Dalimbar's longstanding practice of using minefields to secure international borders. This has been a contentious issue in Fujansk-Dalimbari relations, and was one of the reasons for the re-freezing of relations in 1397. Inspired by the Ny-Basric protests, similar ones have popped up across northern Polaris, primarily driven by Fujansk citizens. With the chaos of the Valfusk Storstrejk fresh in the mind, protests are planned for the afternoon in major cities across Fujai as well as at the Fujansk-Dalimbari border. While we'd never advocate against direct action, please for the love of vann, folks, don't provoke the Dalimbari military at their border.

As near as we can tell, there's another protest being planned for outside the Dalimbari embassy in Reçueçn. Word is FIF's Rugbyseksjon is responsible for the planning, which might be a violation of international law, given that it's taking place at an international sporting event through partial support from the government? I honestly have no idea how the legality of that works and I'm a goddamn international labor policy student.

So. In summary. Shit's getting weird and folks are protesting Dalimbar for approximately the seventh time this year. I honestly don't know if this is news anymore, but it certainly says that relations won't be thawing any time soon. There's no word on how this will affect ethnic Fujar in Dalimbar. The protests don't seem like they'll be especially long-lasting, but they might have some unknown impact on the World Cup. Only time and Berit's commentary will tell, so I'll see you next time.

[Jens cuts out and exit music commences, only to stop suddenly]

Oh! I almost forgot I promised Berit I'd talk about sports.

    We lost.

    [exit music plays]

DU-UKH, UUK – Keiserholde, Fujai — Hej folks, this is Berit here coming to you from DU-UKH, Den Blå Duken, UiKeiserholde's officially unofficial student radio. The region's first Rugby World Cup has started and the Landslag is off to a roaring start!

Our team has, like so many others in our nation, made the trek down to Reçueçn to represent the people in sport. Match day 2 has just ended with the Landslag on bye, but our first match was against the dopers over in Dilber, and apparently they somehow weren't on enough drugs to stop the Landslag from blowing past them 24-22. Despite their famously doped up image, their players seemed somewhat less...enthusiastic? Excited? Stimulated than usual? While some Dilberi fans were understandably confused by their close defeat, the Fujansk supporters were thrilled by the excellent show.

Tomorrow we face off against Gïovanniland at Sporting Field in Renwyll. The Gïovannilandiäna are just above us at the top of our group, with an impressive +19 point differential. In the best case scenario, we're projecting a difficult match—but that means it'll be an entertaining one! We'll see you after the timer ends, so until then that's all for today's Idrottsminutt. See you next time!

  19. Fujanske Landslaget i Rugby

Fujai (fu:'jaɪ, foo-yEYE) is a small nation of just over 7 million residents, located in the northern Polarii continent. While Fujai has a long sporting history, rugby is not a commonly played sport. The sport is most common in rural and industrial areas of the country, particularly in Braskfjord, Mærtesund and Almoren, Elsøra.

The Rugby Landslag is made up of the finest players in Fujai, though not many would be considered of truly international quality. It is sponsored by the Rugbyseksjon of Fujansk Idrottsforbund (Fujansk Sports Union) through a partnership with the Kulturministerjon (Ministry of Culture). Most Landslag players come from Fujai's top league, Højserien, though a few come from the second league, Lågserien. The winningest clubs tend to be from the regions of Hasmark and Felvenna.

Editor's note on gender: Fujansk culture historically recognizes 4 main genders, though in the last century, gender has been used as a continuum without specific categories (though there are some categories of expression). Since the Fujansk language does not have gendered pronouns, most Fujar choose a set of pronouns to use in the common tongue. The proper pronouns of Landslag players can be found in the team roster.

Translator's note: Landslaget translates to "The National Team," while Landslag translates to "National Team." In the common tongue, one would say "the Landslag did well" or "Landslaget did well," not "the Landslaget did well." This is because the Fujansk language uses suffixes to create definite nouns instead of articles. See Den Fujanske Ordboken (The Fujansk Dictionary) for more information.

  20. Guide to TWP Roleplay and
    Esferos Lore Introduction

    TABLE OF CONTENTS:

    • Welcome to the map!
    • Where can I RP?
    • A brief "Session Zero" for TWP Roleplay
    • Esferos lore introduction

    Welcome to Esferos!

The center of roleplay in TWP is the map of our world, Esferos.

To join the world of Esferos you must be a citizen of TWP, read the rest of this Guide, introduce yourself on the RP Discord server, and submit your Mapplication™ in the Mapplication™ thread.

We very strongly encourage you to join RP Discord server before you submit your Mapplication™. Ideally, we want everyone to have the opportunity to get to know the different regions of Esferos (geographically and culturally) and see who is active there so you can decide which area is the right fit for you, as opposed to throwing a dart at the map.

      • Big Book of Numbers - This contains the core statistics and basic information for all nations on the map, including capitals, land area, population, languages, and much more. The information you provide in your Mapplication™ will go in the Book, and you can comment on cells to add further information.
      • Session Zero Guidance - This guidance forms the basis of our shared world. No one is allowed to go against the guidelines set in the Guidance.
    • Unofficial Resources
      • Language Table - This spreadsheet contains the names of all Esferosi nations in the different languages of Esferos. Maintained by Giovanniland, based on the spreadsheet begun by Kurabis
      • Legal System Questionnaire / Comparison - Prompts to explore the way your nation's society is constructed through its legal system
      • Nation Building Exercise - A useful exercise for exploring balance in nationbuilding.

You cannot “win” the RP spreadsheet

      • International relations don't have to be cordial, and your nation can have been friendly and have histories with countries it isn't friendly with today.
      • The laws of physics are the same as we understand them in the real world.

Talk to your neighbours and define your historical relationships with them, it’s all part of the fun!

    • There are no “undiscovered” nations on Esferos, just as there are none on Earth.

    Miscellanea

    • Most of Esferos uses the Markan calendar system, which counts time from the founding of the Holy Principality of Saint Mark. One properly counts time using the BF and AF suffixes, short for "Before Founding" and "After Founding". The current year is 1424 AF. You can easily translate between the Markan and Gregorian calendar by taking the year in the Gregorian calendar and subtracting 600. For instance, 1900 CE in our time is the same as 1300 AF in roleplay time (1900-600=1300).
