4th Rugby World Cup [rosters, roleplays, results]

Recommended Posts

Despite the fact that this was a rugby tournament in the homeland of rugby itself, all eyes were currently on a bunch of flying things...

Seiya.png.253743e60f4e8325dd6e0dadf5dd3167.pngSeiya N.: I never would have imagined a nation like Zoran being willing to do this.

Faust2.png.04740edef772365503199820e63d5acf.pngFaust H.: Do what? I was out looking for Tempo.

Fuusuke.jpg.6bebf5cab3a6ea05c01ae2f3cb2292f5.jpgFuusuke S.: I assume you managed to find it.

Naho.jpg.8a29b9cd1bd98d2f9f76e1d886fd4ab1.jpgNaho S.: To catch you up Faust, the Zoranians have decided to sell a collection of aircraft in weapons sales to Kalmach in their war effort against Garahun.

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames M.: Now all the other members of this tournament are talking about it.

Stig.jpg.ae7ddf9702a630e3f8716a7309c086b7.jpgThe Stig: ... [Sign language -> Translation: The Astorian nations have been particularly vocal in their opposition.]

Kanako.jpg.b6df541d4cd0c802a43251b5379cc6e0.jpgKanako Y.: Atsil has defended the decision by claiming that Zoran needs to be self-reliant.

Nagisa.png.52c271d926f2a27b32bd0d165df389c5.pngNagisa I.: You can guess how well Nieubasria took that, Faust.

Rago.png.ca73034cc2eeb1bb11a1b7b1935330c0.pngRago N.: Huh? Why do you care?!

Hyouka.jpg.c0b6c81163c0359bfc67653fde65b340.jpgHyouka F.: We don't.

Futo.png.687180cbf0410c6b4a9ce3696ae091fc.pngFuto M.: I do.

Naho.jpg.8a29b9cd1bd98d2f9f76e1d886fd4ab1.jpgNaho S.: You're in the minority then.

Jeremy.jpg.8337097c670d26e7fd9244bc8ecb2315.jpgJeremy C.: A minority of 1.

Damian.png.a940845fa7b56eb5fed22c30bbc00875.pngDamian H.: That filthy Nur-based country is not where my caring belongs.

Lisa.jpg.6b5e2802c8d9f324db77d17b833af59c.jpgLisa L.: Harsh on Kalmach, much?

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames M.: It's Damian, should we expect anything other than disdain?

Shizune.png.91a69c1896ec52445ecdbf3a6e8155ed.pngShizune H.: ... [Sign language -> Translation: That doesn't make it right!]

Richard.jpg.2be812c9175d6897f5acb68a3190f55e.jpgRichard H.: Yeah, but we still don't care.

Mizore.jpg.1c914b810ad5ad2f0d9c8ca92a84a6fa.jpgMizore S.: Wait for us to care all day if you want to, it won't happen.

Arthur.jpg.5dfe86ac48ecb5e9a6218d33d7e4f187.jpgArthur P.: I'm not waiting all day.

Lisa.jpg.6b5e2802c8d9f324db77d17b833af59c.jpgLisa L.: It was a figure of speech.

Sage.jpg.b410d4888d0d85240e95ea951ee80e0a.jpgSage R.: Shouldn't we be focusing on the match against Sekiya? I've been researching ways to get stronger.

Free.jpg.282929cee78f0bb6a7407bf41b9b5f21.jpgFree d. l. H.: You don't get stronger by accepting how everyone else does things. You get stronger by finding your own path. That's how champions are made.

Futo.png.687180cbf0410c6b4a9ce3696ae091fc.pngFuto M.: We used to be champions, but those days art concluded.

Nagisa.png.52c271d926f2a27b32bd0d165df389c5.pngNagisa I.: Hey, Futo. If you think like that, everyone will be capable of getting in your way.

Origami.png.4fe503e9b175892b7587a179870b7e15.pngOrigami T.: Soon, it will be our time.

Futo.png.687180cbf0410c6b4a9ce3696ae091fc.pngFuto M.: Doth thou think we can pull it off?

Stig.jpg.ae7ddf9702a630e3f8716a7309c086b7.jpgThe Stig: ... [Sign language -> Translation: This team isn't called Star Breaker for nothing.]

Shizune.png.91a69c1896ec52445ecdbf3a6e8155ed.pngShizune H.: ... [Sign language -> Translation: You're not alone in this feeling, and it isn't strange. But that damaged mindset won't do us any favours.]

Damian.png.a940845fa7b56eb5fed22c30bbc00875.pngDamian H.: If you sign so.

Kanako.jpg.b6df541d4cd0c802a43251b5379cc6e0.jpgKanako Y.: This tournament is not for the dread of Hall of Dreams adherents. It is meant as a home for the gods of sport.

Nagisa.png.52c271d926f2a27b32bd0d165df389c5.pngNagisa I.: This is kind of annoying, I want to make it so the Sekiya team can't play anymore!

Stig.jpg.ae7ddf9702a630e3f8716a7309c086b7.jpgThe Stig: ... [Sign language -> Translation: Now I'm remembering what I saw on CCTV back home.]

Eirin.jpg.0e232445a4afe53ee8c4436ee20e1148.jpgEirin Y.: Before anyone asks, I was already aware of the footage The Stig is referencing. Uh, Lain, are you okay?

[Lain has flashbacks to the matches against Dalimbar and Larxia]

Lain.jpg.f17d3fcf2b052453b1256e1f020accd1.jpgLain V.: ...What is this? Why do I feel this way?!

Seiya.png.253743e60f4e8325dd6e0dadf5dd3167.pngSeiya N.: Lain is almost at border point. He's experiencing an inner desire to battle strong opponents, especially historical rivals Dalimbar and local rivals Larxia. Let's leave him alone for now. When we next see him, he'll have tapped into a new level of power.

The team did as Seiya suggested and left Lain to it. Although he denied it bizarrely claiming that those teams don't know what it's like to have a metaphorical thirst, even the Pitch-Black Flame was starting to enjoy battling two very specific national rivals.

New Zoradia, Zoran

12 April 1423

A broom closet

5:00 PM Overtime

Yenuha Aditsi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, is sitting in a makeshift meeting room in a broom closet of the temporary government building. He sent a message out to the other ministers earlier today to call them together to discuss the Queen’s…unusual behavior. Albeit he did not explicitly state this in the message for fear of driving them away but he cannot deny that the Queen’s recent actions have been uncharacteristically hostile and irrational lately. He specifically told her to deny the DG Corporation’s request to make an offer to Kalmach for the international backlash she would receive and, in an uncharacteristic move, ignored his advice. Then, when he talked to her about backing down and apologizing to the international community she just glared at him and walked away only to make that speech.

There is obviously something going on in her mind that is making her like this. Normally she is level headed but now…I am not certain.

He was pulled out of his thoughts when the door to the broom closet opened and Director Soyohata entered the room along with Minister Waholi and Ministress Lanesa of the Ministry of Justice.

“I will admit, a bit of an odd place for a meeting, don’t you think?” Minister Waholi asked, “Not too much space in here.”

“It was the only room that I know of that would not have too much traffic moving through it.” answered Yenuha, “Do any of you know if the other ten are coming?”

“Not one clue, you were very vague on what this meeting was on, Yenuha.” replied Lanessa,

“It was cryptic even for me, and I work with cryptic messages for a living!” said Soyohata,

“Trust me, this is a meeting that needs to happen. I will reveal everything once a majority of us arrive.” The three of them looked at each other with an uncertain glance before taking a seat at the makeshift table, suspicion heavy in the air. Over the course of a few minutes, the other ministers arrived in the room, all with the same suspicious attitude as the first three members. Yenuha took a deep breath before beginning the meeting,

“Thank you everyone for coming on such short notice, I know I have not been exactly forward in my reasons for this meeting but it is one that is necessary. We all have known Atsil for a good number of years now and I believe we can safely say that her recent actions have been…out of character.” The other ministers gave him a curious look, clearly interested in where he was going with this speech, “This whole Kalmach business is something that shouldn’t have happened in the first place, you were all at the meeting where I advised her against approving DG’s request to make a deal with Kalmach and you all know that she always takes our advice to heart and yet for the past few days she has been hostile towards the majority of us and has been disregarding what we advise her to do. After her speech this morning I cannot sit back and watch her destroy the positive reputation this country has been trying to cultivate with this deal and I call you here today to discuss what is going on with the Queen and what course of action we should take.”

The whole room went silent for a moment, tension filling the void left by Yenuha’s words before Ministress Lanesa spoke up,

“I agree with you, Aditsi, the Queen has not been acting like herself recently. Something is going on and if we do not stop it she might bring this country crashing to the ground. Just this morning after the speech, I wanted to ask about some ongoing court cases when she told me to leave her office before I even said a word.”

“Indeed!” proclaimed Ministress of Commerce, Scatchwah Wakusa, “I approached her about the economic repercussions of the proposed Nieubasrian sanctions around noon today and she just blatantly told me to take my data and leave!”

The whole room erupted into conversation about Atsil’s uncharacteristically rude and irrational actions as of late all except for Director Soyohata and Minister Waholi, the later of which slammed his hand down on the plastic table and exclaimed,

“You are all delusional, there is nothing wrong with the Queen! This whole meeting could be considered treason!”

“Minister Waholi, you must be mad to believe that this is normal for Atsil! How many times have you seen her act like this?” said a baffled Minister of Labour Scolaguta Tlonumi, “She barely put herself together for the speech this morning, her office is in shambles and she has barely been eating the past few days!”

“She is fine, she is just working hard to defend our nation from those salty aristocrats in Polaris!” roared Waholi, “You are all just looking for an excuse to overthrow her! I bet half of you were swayed by those Fujansk socialist hippies that provided humanitarian aid during the Revolution!” Fighting and shouting broke out in the cramped broom closet that the ministers well all in and despite Yenuha despairing at how off quickly the meeting has derailed he could not help but notice the slight guilt that is forming on Soyohata’s normally cheerful face.

“ALL OF YOU, CALM DOWN!” yelled Yenuha, to which all attention had returned to him, “What’s the matter, Soyohata? You have been unusually quiet the past few minutes, what do you know?” Soyohata jolted at the sudden call out, eyes darting around the room nervously.

“Uh…I-I may know what has put the Queen in a…mood, hehe.” he stammered, “Uhm, a few days ago one of the agents in Dalimbar kinda got handed a message by someone and was told to get it to Atsil…and you know it was an o-”

“Quit rambling, Soyohata!” interrupted Yenuha furiously,

“Alright! Alright! The note was given to her after the cypher was solved and she got really pissed and hurt after she read it, yelled at me to leave the room, and since then has been in a reaaaaaaally pissy state. Whatever that message was very much affected her and with all the stress she has been under the past three years working without a break, I think that put her over the edge and has broken her.”

The whole room went silent, no one was sure about the latter half but no one had any doubts about the note’s existence,

“Soyohata,” began Lanesa, “Why have you kept this from us all this time.”

“I,” he sighs, “I was scared. I had never seen Atsil so furious and I worried that spreading news about it would make things worse. I-I’m sorry.’ he hung his head in shame as the words came tumbling out of his mouth. The ministers were silent, some annoyed and others sympathetic, but the question still remained about how they were going to stop Atsil from continuing the downward spiral of the country internationally…all except for gung ho Waholi,

“For all the years I have known her, Atsil is fine. She has recovered from worse, she is clearly taking the sta-” He was abruptly interrupted by a punch to the face from Minister Yenuha, knowing him flat on his back. Yenuha shook his hand in pain before saying,

“That’s enough, Minister Waholi. We were never supposed to be yesmen, Atsil told us that three years ago, we swore an oath to stop the Queen should she ever spiral out of control and now is the time to uphold that oath.”

Waholi took a minute to get up from the ground, scowling at the group when he was on his two feet. They all gave him a challenging look, daring him to take action against them until he caved in,

“Very well, what is it that you all propose we do about the ‘rouge’ Queen?” he asked,

“Well,” started Minister of Health, Dr. Hiawassee Quadala, “if her behavior is caused because of the contents of the note that Soyohata mentioned, then his hypothesis on her stress finally catching up to her could hold weight. Removal of the queen would be out of the question, we do not need another power struggle like we saw in the first year after the revolution.”

“Agreed,” said Minister Tlonumi, “what we could do though is force her to take a long vacation and manage the country while she is recovering, maybe sign her up to see a therapist and a psychologist while we are at it.”

“I like the sound of that, but how do we get her to agree to take a vacation?” asked Minister Lanesa,

“We write a letter asking her to take a vacation and deliver it all together to confront her about her behavior. If she doesn’t comply we just stop the ministries we run and talk her down.” said Yenuha, “We all need to stand united against her here, now is not the time for cowardice. The state is on the line and the lives of millions could be damaged if we allow her to continue down her path. Is everyone in agreement?”

The whole room voices their support for the plan and they get to work writing their objection to her behavior and their demands for her to temporarily step away from ruling in order to focus on her issues.

Jelena Bridge Competed

After years of construction and setbacks, the long-awaited cable-stayed bridge connecting the northeastern part of Teralyon to the southern part of the country has finally been completed. The bridge, which was overbudget and faced multiple challenges during its construction, is now open to traffic, providing a faster and more convenient way for travelers to move from one part of the country to another.

The Jelena bridge, which spans across the strait of Jelena, has been in the works for over a decade. The project faced numerous obstacles, including budget overruns, construction delays, and environmental concerns. However, despite these setbacks, the bridge has finally been completed, and its opening marks a significant milestone for the country.

With the completion of the bridge, travelers will no longer have to take a long drive around the strait of Jelena or wait for a ferry to cross. The bridge now fully connects the freeway networks in the northeastern part of Teralyon to the southern part of the country and to the border. This means that travelers can now reach their destination much faster and more efficiently, without having to spend hours on the road or waiting in line for a ferry.

The bridge is also expected to boost the economy in the region by providing a more efficient transportation system for goods and services. The improved connectivity is expected to attract more businesses and investors to the area, which will create more job opportunities and boost the local economy.

Despite the challenges faced during its construction, the completion of the Jelena bridge is a testament to the resilience and determination of the people of Teralyon. The opening of the bridge is a momentous occasion for the country and a significant step forward in its development.

Overall, the completion of the cable-stayed bridge is a cause for celebration for the people of Teralyon. It represents a major infrastructure achievement and will have far-reaching benefits for the country's economy and people.

Tiber refuses to comment on jet sale

Teralyon's President Anton Tiber was recently asked to comment on the controversial sale of Zoranian fighter jets to Kalmach, a country currently engaged in hostilities. However, Tiber mostly side stepped the question and called the situation "unfortunate."

The sale of fighter jets to Kalmach has raised concerns about the escalation of the ongoing conflict in the region. Tiber's reluctance to comment directly on the sale suggests that the situation is a delicate one, and that Teralyon may be navigating a difficult political landscape.

The president's statement underscores the complexity of the situation and the challenges that Teralyon faces in balancing its international relationships with its commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region. It remains to be seen how the sale of fighter jets to Kalmach will impact the situation on the ground, but Tiber's comments suggest that Teralyon is aware of the potential risks and is working to address them in a thoughtful and strategic way.

Prior to the final group stage match against Sekiya, the trio decided to discuss a few things with no clear structure...

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: I've noticed that a couple of dates on the HNDRJ score boards are incorrect.

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: I'm sure it won't matter too much.

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: Right, I've seen this image of what looks like penguins in military uniform.

Image

The Hertmerian War Penguins. Disclaimer: These are not an existing part of the Hertfordian military. Probably.

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: You're right. I think they could be part of the H&J armed forces.

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: Penguins don't exist in Hertfordshire and Jammbo.

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: Well, not that we know of. So James, want to discuss the war penguins?

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames May: Well actually I'll discuss the war penguins in a minute 'cause first I want to say a couple more things about the car you attached a log to. You see, you said there that it was like a slab of old Hertfordia.

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: Yes.

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames May: But, Blencathra is owned by Piplar.

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: Yes.

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames May: That log was probably styled in a gulag and the car was engineered by a man called Yaroslav Tytarenko. Doesn't sound very Hertfordian.

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: Are you joining us here or are you writing a letter to the Daily Diamond?

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames May: Well, I'm just saying that you know immediately that that log is Dalimbari 'cause it had too much power when it smashed your window. They've overdone it, as usual... like they did on their Fujansk holiday in 1309.

[Hammond winces.]

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: James! James, our language script is the same as theirs, but you don't say "Vashe Dorov'ye! Urra Dalimbar!" whenever Free State Television comes on the television, do you?

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames May: Well I do actually.

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: Yeah he does.

[Clarkson quietly laughs.]

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: He does.

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: So there we are.

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames May: Can I just say something?

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: What?

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames May: Before we go on, is that actually a picture of real penguins?

[Clarkson is baffled that May has actually asked that question.]

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: Seriously?

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: Forgetting, well, that, I received an email from the Tsar about a message sent from him to the Marshall of this country. Mecislavs has allowed us to share it with you viewing this through the phone camera that the Stig is holding up.

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames May: What happened to Kilt Stig?

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: Apparently they went back to Cambria.

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: Can we see the letter then?

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: Here you go.

[Clarkson, Hammond and May look at the letter and summarily burst into various degrees of laughter after finishing it.]

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames May: I really want to overthrow the junta.

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: You're gonna get a knock on your door in the morning and two big blokes in a black car outside.

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: "Okay, I'm sliding toward the circular saw, Dalimbar is the only civilised nation in Esferos, turn it off! Turn it off!"

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: "I love Briand's leadership, now release me from the gulag!" I- it's... it's scary.

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: It is and I will get him to post it on the intranet.

[Clarkson points at May.]

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: Yes you can do that one.

James.thumb.jpg.1f08b0c4f756a87c881f91452bdffa32.jpgJames May: No- yeah, but it's n- I don't really like Marshall Briand though actually.

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: Okay, f-fair enough.

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: Oorh.

[May quizzically eyes Clarkson and Hammond.]

Jeremy.jpg.5377435f4bd132f39680652faab2c91f.jpgJeremy Clarkson: The LATE James May there, making one of his, uh, final remarks.

Richard.jpg.aab51c0a1716a1aea309dd831ad1d829.jpgRichard Hammond: Don't answer the door.

TsarMecislavsLetterToMarshallBriand.thumb.png.a1eecffd0d7dd8f4e17cffc981f6adcb.png

The letter that the Tsar had sent. The image he spoke of was a collage made by H&J natives of two double-headed eagles - one navy blue with swords, one black and lavender purple with two crowns - facing each-other off. More accurately, the black and lavender purple double-headed eagle was mauling the navy blue double-headed eagle.

It's not often that the Tsar themselves gets involved. They clearly enjoyed themselves enough to allow a leak of it by the trio.

Prince Marcarius put the letter down next to the glass of Solurian 20-year-old on his desk. He was alone in the suite, having sent Clarkson away on an errand. His face revealed a mixture of relief and concern. The highly confidential report he had just read was from Mother Angelica, Lady Abbess of the Order of Saint Clare. The Sisters of The Mind had answered his question regarding Queen Atsil.

Many centuries ago, in the Age of Mystics, The Seers, as the Sisters of The Mind were called then, were wild, living in caves and unattached to any specific service to God. Since shortly after The Founding, however, they have been attached to The Faith, first as part of a separate Order and later under the protection of The Order of Saint Clare. Their special gifts had been used many times to guide The Faith as well as the Principality.

The prince had known that something wasn't right. He knew Atsil personally and had dealt with her on several occasions. Her public response to the global pressure against her decision had been uncharacteristic. Well, now he knew why. He couldn't reach out to her to offer assistance, since no one could know he knew, but he could hope this worked out and offer a prayer for her aid.

*You turn on the TV to the Aftokratorian News at 6:00 intro theme playing*

Nea Dimosiografos: Good evening Aftokratoria! My name is Nea Dimosiografos, and this is Aftokratorian News at 6:00! Today is Wednesday, April 12th, and the temperature is currently 4 degrees above 0. Later on in the evening, we’ll talk to a local baker here in Evimeronia about how he set up a new bakery with extremely cheap bread for the poor in his neighbourhood, as well as what the city of Gatankri is doing to combat litter being left on the ground. But first, let’s go to Antago Nizomai for an update on sports.

Antago Nizomai: Thanks Nea. Well, as you all know, our national rugby team has been doing exceptionally well in Dalimbar, scoring their first win against Ryxtyltopia just a few days ago, but sadly they lost against Fujai last night. It was an intense game, with the defensive players on both sides being so skilled, in fact, with the final score being only 3-0. Tonight they will face Dilber, and lets just hope they do as well against them as they did against the Ryxtyltopians! They have fallen back into last place in their grouping because of Fujai, but they can pick themselves back up! At one point they were in 5th, only one placement away from advancing. Either way, in the end they are an amazing team! Back to you Nea.

Nea Dimosiografos: Thanks Antago. Our national team is great! The fact that they even made the tournament is impressive. Just a few days ago we aired an interview with Rankampi Kepatanios, the captain, and it just showed what a determined player and leader he was. Now we go to Synen Tefktis and what the city of Gatankri is implementing to combat litter.

*You switch off the TV, as all you wanted to hear about were the rugby games*

BREAKING: DAMAGE FROM TSUNAMI AFTERMATH

Following the cliff collapse and the subsequent tsunami, damage seen throughout the coasts on the Gulf of Qukquk were expected.

Coastal, pastoral regions up to 8 km inland were affected.

Evacuations, from witnesses of the disaster, were successful in mitigating harm to life.

Citizens in Haoux-Polter, the closest major mainland metropolitan area that the waves reached, was prepared and mostly unscathed. However, the old Ibuet Theme Pier was completely inundated and washed away.

Residents in Aibuz and Criim experienced surge and damage almost confined across the plains of the Criim isthmus.

Feziklyr had some coastal flooding, partially submerging the University of Saint Adaikes Zoo. Flood protection across the Peouroun coast were put to the test and the expected 2-meter waves forecasted were only measured as extreme high tide conditions.

No reports of waves or rough sea was reported in Jairprozhia or Uhulask, therefore, the Sekiyan coast was not threatened by the tsunami.

Threat of tsunami to Andolia or Aura was eliminated due to distance and energy dispersion of wave would have dissipated to normal ocean current.

This concludes the reporting of the recent tsunami. Recovery efforts are underway. Stay safe, stay sane, stay responsible.

Volldag, 26 snaumånad 107 // Tuesday, 10 April 1423

Kornelius Ramsland, Koalisjon1 VR2 and ranking member of the Velktingets Utanrikskomite on recent Kalmash arms purchases

“Our work to end the long war in Hallessekratamia still continues, yes. We are watching closely as Kalmach has doubled down on their choice of violence with the recent purchase of a large number of new Zoranian fighter jets. It is of grave concern that some nations still see war profiteering as an acceptable policy.”

Zandar Vassbotn, independent sports commentator, on the Fujansk showing at the Rugby World Cup

“After several important wins, the Landslag has secured a place in the knockout round of the Rugby World Cup! Currently second in their group, they will likely play against Teralyon, Ostronia, or Hertfordia. in their first knockout match.”

Ferdinand Koren, Director of corruption watchdog Passepåare, posted on social media site, Galpås on crackdowns in United Adaikes

“Blatant violations of political freedoms cannot be allowed to stand. The government must push for an Astorian Union investigation into the imprisonment of Adaikesian blogger Brendan Shelton for criticizing Secretary of Trade Felice Colbert.”

Maiken Dahl, Professor of Sociology at Universitet i Rønnøn, in a lecture on piracy in the Mille-Mer

“You see, the issue here is not one of crime. It rarely is, in fact, as many of you know. Piracy flourishes in areas with high volumes of trade, low security, and low standard of living—making the southern Mille-Mer a perfect confluence of these. The deepest and easiest-to-navigate water lies just off the Auran coast, parts of the coast, especially in Dilber and Bilyad, have little in the way of stable collective authority, and because of this and historic exploitation, these areas have a very low standard of living. We cannot hardly blame people for seeking out opportunities to feed for their families, much as our own ancestors were forced to do a thousand years ago. I don’t think jets and warships will do much to fill a child's belly.”

Gert Sunde, member Fujais Landslaget i Rugby, on the team’s World Cup performance at presser in St. Andreisburg

“Honestly we’re just thrilled to play and we try to focus on that. Yeah at the end of the day someone has to win, but all of us are just here to play the sport we love and give the folks back home a good show. The outcome doesn’t matter in the end.”

Ayub Haugen, Utanriksstatsekretare3, on active military operations in the Mille-Mer

“We are watching the situation in the Mille-Mer closely. Teralyian jets have been sent to United Adaikes, and we are aware of a Teralyian and Adaikesian naval build up in the area. We have been apprised of the situation by our allies and have not yet received word of active threat. No Fujar are involved in the current deployment.”

1. Koalisjon is a small, internationalist party in the Velkting, the Fujansk Parliament. It focuses on international leftist cooperation and countering Dalimbari influence.
2. Stands for Velktingsrepresentare. Same concept as MP meaning Member of Parliament.
3. State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, one of two who are second in command at the Utanriksministerjon (Foreign Affairs Ministry)

New Zoradia, Zoran

13 April 1423

Adsila’s Office

9:00 AM Overtime

Adsila scowled at Markarius's letter before tearing it up and aggressively throwing it into the overflowing recycle bin.

Poor quality, what does he know about military aircraft. Everyone is against me these days, I should have just kept to myself like this the who-

A loud knock comes from the door, drawing Adsila’s bloodshot eyes to glare at the door,

“Go away!” she yells,

The knock becomes louder this time and a voice booms through the door,

“Your Majesty!” proclaims the voice, “We demand an audience!”

“You will get an audience when I have time, now go away!”

On the other side of the door, Yenuha and the other ministers looked at each other before giving a nod to Waholi who proceeded to try and kick open the door only to hurt their leg in the process. Yenuha rolled their eyes as they opened the door like a normal person and marched inside followed by the other ministers.

“Are you deaf? I s-”

“We know what you said, your Majesty, but I’m afraid we cannot allow you to continue driving this country into the ground.” He pulls the letter out from his internal suit pocket and places it on the desk, staring Adsila down as he does. Adsila frowns but takes the letter and proceeds to read it,

To our dear Queen Adsila,

In the three years since the end of the revolution, you have proven yourself to be a brave and competent leader that has inspired many to follow the example you have set. Yet your behavior as of late has brought your ability to lead into question amongst us, your ministers.Your recent irrational and hostile behavior is putting this country at risk as you proceed to follow down a path that will isolate us from our allies and threaten the livelihoods of millions of Zoranians. As a result, to uphold our oath as ministers of the state, we demand that you temporarily back away from your duties as queen to prioritize your mental wellbeing and take a break. This decision was not made lightly but we cannot stand by as you proceed to follow a course of action that will certainly do more harm than good for our country In your absence, we will take care of your duties collectively until you return with a note from a therapist that states that your condition is acceptable to return to stately duties. Should you not comply with our demands, we will refuse to continue our duties and bring work in our ministries to a halt.

Adsila stared at the letter, shocked at the actions her ministers are taking. Her instinct reaction was to brand them all as traitors but she instead took a moment to think about her actions the past few days and began to look at the state of her office. The usually tidy and somewhat organized space looked as though a hurricane had occurred within it. Books lay scattered across the room, papers randomly lying about, some knocked over furniture, it all made her realize just how out of control she has let herself become. She sighed and let the letter fall onto her desk,

“I-I guess I have been…”

“Problematic?” finished Ministress Wakusa,

“Yes,” began Adsila, “I thought that by going my own way I could do a lot of good…yet instead I have embarrassed myself and the nation.”

“Adsila, what event caused this? Soyohata told us about the decrypted message but we don't understand how that has caused you to act so strangely.” said Ministress Lanesa,

“Let’s just say…a friend who I believed to have been dead for the past three year is actually alive and that made me question a lot that has been going on. This pushed me over the edge and you saw what happened. I’m sorry for all the issues I have caused and I-I will comply with your demands. But first, we need to set things ri-”

“You will get ready for your vacation,” began Yenuha, “we will take care of sorting out this whole Kalmach arms deal affair. I will call up Cambria and Nieubasria to discuss the situation in a meeting and pursue a different course of action and Dr. Quadala will assist in finding you a therapist to your liking.”

Adsila nodded but before getting up from her desk, she passed an inspecting gaze over Yenuha, seeing something in him that she had not seen before.

“Very well, you all have given me confidence that the nation will be in good hands while I am away.” She says as she gets up and walks towards the door, “And I believe I may have found someone who may be a good candidate for the first Prime Minister of Zoran.”

Everyone was surprised by the statement but Adsila made no other comment on it besides a singular smirk before walking out of the office. Dr. Quadala soon followed after her and the ministers quickly got to work on managing the country's affairs. Yenuha felt a burden had been lifted from him, relieved that the confrontation had gone so peacefully, and proceeded to make a phone call to set up a meeting between him and the AU member states interested to discuss the Kalmach deal and propose an alternative solution he had proposed to Adsila a while ago.

The Lions were still elated over their shut-out against Saranzio which had advanced them to the next round. They were gathered in Sir Evan's suite to review strategy but were having a hard time focusing.

While the coach pointed out areas for improvement in their play, the squeaking whiteboard competed with a low murmur.

"Maybe we can really go all the way," whispered Shoreman to Goldwash.

"We have been on our game," Goldwash responded.

"Don't let a few wins get into your head," interjected Saint Mark, the often unofficial team leader. "We have only had a couple of top-tier opponents so far. Defeating Overthinkers is going to take our best. The time for celebrating is done. Pay attention to the coach, gentlemen."

The chastened players ended their conversation and turned toward Sir Evan's whiteboard.

The coach was saying, "When Michael runs, it creates an extra player in the line. So exploit that to create gaps between the opposition 10 and open-side flanker at the scrum. This play should be used from a left-side scrum.
The angles run here will give the back-line options to attack their weakest tackler or take the ball wide.
In practice, we started by running this move at half pace and without any defense.
Then, we added a defense, comprising a four-man back-line and an open-side flanker.

First, Paul passes to Michael, who will run around from the left side of the scrum. Then Michael has options to pass to Rudolph or Hugo. Either one should call if they feel the pass is on. Rudolph runs out and then cuts in on a hard line toward the outside shoulder of their 10. Hugo tracks behind 10 and then 12 to run on 12’s outside shoulder.

Nelson runs behind 12 to be in a position to pass deep to Blaze. Alan runs out and then cuts in to connect with 11 or 12. Blaze and Christopher stay deep to offer the outside option but must be ready to support Alan."

The review went on until dinner.

8:00 AM, Polaris Eastern Team (IAT-2)
Sapphire Hotel, Gasple, Adaikes
First Day of the Gasple Security Conference

It's just been two weeks since Theodore Guerrero started his job (his first) for the Red Palace. Fresh from North Shil University, the premier university for politics-related degrees in the United Adaikes, his thesis advisor and Dean of Politics Studies of the University Nicol Emmett suggested that Ted should work for the President of the United Adaikes, a close family friend of Emmett.

A big rugby fan, and with the Rugby World Cup still ongoing and the United Adaikes already ensured of qualification, he just wants to see an Adaikesian match live, even if it’s just on the broadcast.

Now, he didn't imagine that he would be part of the junior staff invited to the Gasple Security Conference. It's a big thing for him, actually. Who else with the same dream as his would not like that? Not even a year in, not only he'll be seeing the most prominent individuals running the United Adaikes government, but he'll also be seeing the Cambrian Minister of State, the Teralyon Minister of Foreign Relations, and the Teralyon President.

An hour before the expected arrival of all dignitaries to the Grand Ballroom of the Sapphire Hotel, Executive Assistant to the Red Palace Chief of Staff Gina Marvin told Guerrero that he would be in the room as utility personnel in the meeting. That is, do what is told when being told to do so.

Twenty-five minutes before the meeting started, Adaikesian Foreign Affairs Secretary Anne Duncan and Assistant Trade Secretary for Foreign Trade Wilfred Woolf and their staff arrived at the Grand Ballroom. Everything seemed choreographed after their arrival. Every after five minutes, someone arrives in the Grand Ballroom. The President of the United Adaikes was the next to arrive, followed by the Teralyon Minister of Foreign Relations, Ijana Delicia. Then it was Anton Tiber, the Teralyon President. Cambrian Minister of State Ain Klavan arrived five minutes before the meeting started. Everyone exchanged pleasantries with every person who came and took their seats at the large circular table in the middle of the hall, with their staff taking the long tables assigned to each delegation.

"First of all," Salazar started, "I would like to express my utmost gratitude for the presence of our visitors from our most-valued allies, from the Federated Teralyon Republic, and of course, from the United Kingdom of Tara and Cambria."

Tiber also spoke, always surprised with the easily-likable climate of the United Adaikes, with the Cambrian Minister asking jokingly about the difference between the climate of the two northern countries.

After an hour, with the room still jolly from Minister Klavan's curiosity about Dalimbar Marshall Briand's preference for Mille-mer lemons, Klavan asked if she could have the room. “The Ministers and Secretaries present can also stay with us. Jed [Gill, Salazar's Chief of Staff] can also stay. Any person lower than their current designation should leave this room for a moment," she added.

After 20 minutes, Gill stepped out of the Hall and asked for Ted, with Marvin moving closer, "Hey, Ted, if my memory serves me right, you're classmates with Marlena Harrell back at North Shil U, right? I know that she's currently the Junior Chief of Staff of [Trade] Secretary Colbert. Do you have her number?" Marvin looked at Guerrero with a raised eyebrow, with Guerrero responding to the first question with a nod and replying to the second question, "Yes, sir."

Gill then faced Marvin and said, "Gina, please accompany Ted here to somewhere private. Make sure Ted calls Marlena. Ask her where she currently is and where her Trade Secretary is. Find all means to contact her, well, the two of them, if you please. Maybe that room is quiet," pointing to an unlit room two rooms away from the entrance of the Grand Ballroom.

After entering the room, Ted called Harrell. Just before the first ring ended, Harrell answered the call. Ted asked the questions Gill asked him to ask Harrell, with Marvin guiding him.

After the call, they went out and knocked on the entrance door of the Grand Ballroom. The Presidential Security Service in charge on the other side of the door opened the room ajar. "Chief of Staff Gill, please," Marvin requested.

“One moment," the PSS agent replied.

"Let them enter," Marvin heard Gill from the other side of the door.

When Guerrero and Marvin entered, PSS escorted them to the circular table where the Presidents, Ministers, and Secretaries looked at them.

Gill broke the silence, "Ted, tell us what you've heard from Marlena."

Wow, that was bewildering. Guerrero never thought he'd get to talk today with the dignitaries listening.

"Er…" Ted started.

"You can relax, Ted," Salazar told Ted, which just made him more nervous.

“Marlena said that Secretary Colbert had not shown up for three days already since the Secretary told Marlena that she'll just be going to the coffee shop in front of their hotel," Ted said, a slight shaking of his voice distinctly heard by the dignitaries.

"Has she not told any Adaikesian senior officer about the Secretary's 'disappearance'?" Salazar asked Guerrero.

Marvin answered on behalf of the new hire, "I also tried calling Secretary Colbert's roaming number, but she is not picking up. The next officer by seniority and designation is Assistant Foreign Affairs Secretary for Polaris Affairs Garnet Sinclair. Harrell has already told Assistant Secretary Sinclair about Felice's disappearance. However, Harrell also told me with the assurance that Sinclair told her that the Department of Foreign Affairs already knows about the Trade Secretary's disappearance."

Everyone looked at Duncan, but the Adaikesian Foreign Affairs Secretary just shook her head.

"Well, thank you, Ted," Gill broke the silence, "you can now leave us."

Salazar then told Duncan, "Tell Sinclair he's now the Adaikesian government caretaker of the National Rugby Team. Make sure that Sinclair can see Harrell at all times. I want a report from him about the recent events, and I should be able to read it right after this meeting ends at 5. Also, upon their return to Adaikes Central, he reports to the Red Palace right after arriving at the airport and personally report to me on the latest updates." Duncan nodded silently.

Gina," Gill urged Marvin to come over to the table. When Gill showed a picture to Marvin, she had to cover her mouth from opening due to shock.

She recognized Secretary Colbert in the picture. The Trade Secretary was clinking her wine glass with two individuals, the faces she only knew from intelligence briefers she received from the Office of the National Security Adviser to be readied for the Red Palace Chief of Staff's daily morning brief with the President.

Felice Colbert was seen hanging out with Dalimbar's Chief of Finance and Trade Rear Admiral Arman Mlakar and Chief of External Affairs Rear Admiral Aleksey Klement, with the picture timestamped 10 hours ago.

2:00 PM, Polaris Eastern Team (IAT-2)
Red Palace Press Room, Adaikes Central, Adaikes

“Esteemed members of the Press Corps of the Red Palace," it was Press Secretary Vikki Boatwright, "good afternoon." It was a hastily called press release, the press noticed.

"While I can confidently say that the talks at the Gasple Security Conference have been nothing short of productive, I turn your attention to Dalimbar and the current Rugby World Cup. While our National Team is making us proud, the Adaikesian government caretaker for the team, Trade Secretary Felice Colbert, announced her intention to resign from her current and all posts in the Federal Government of the United Adaikes effective immediately due to health concerns. Our President, though already foreboding about the country's trade situation with this loss, accepted it as how the President considers the personal interest of his Cabinet first, most especially if it's about health. Secretary Colbert will return to the country at an undisclosed time and date as we respect her wishes to be with her family. We hope and look forward to your utmost regard and cooperation in not invading their privacy during this crucial time. Thank you."

HUGO DASHER ENGAGED!

TOP 10 GROOMED RUGBY PLAYERS AT THE RBS 6 NATIONS 2015 ~ THE MALE ...

Hugo Dasher, Left Wing of the Saint Mark Lions

The dashing Lions' Left Wing is engaged!

Yesterday, on the practice field, Hugo Dasher ran into the stands through a small crowd of admirers and retrieved his long-time girlfriend Emily Clement-Bosworth, daughter of industrialist Sir Aston Clement and Lady Phyllis Clement-Bosworth. On the field, he went down on one knee and pulled a five-carat sparkler from his helmet. Clearly overjoyed, Ms. Clement-Bosworth said yes.

The couple has been dating for the past three years, having met at the wedding of mutual friend, Kent Wixham, noted fashion designer. They plan to marry in June of next year.

Sorry ladies ... but you knew that was coming!

“Welcome back to Live from Garrison! I’m your host, Katina Lubov. On today’s segment, we’d like to go over what even is the “Rugby Rankings”. This product of the Department of Sports of our Free State has been so prevalent in not just this Rugby World Cup, but previous editions too! But how does it work, and who developed it?”

C_0Zji3V4i7qfW5OazUfvR_PTrgw7Nk4dbcQIyuC0_r2Fxo1vAAiGWJr__JEFbH1GWczsmsru_iOsxYJ6cP147J5YIhaN-VJ7q_xPvDunB8IVRCV3CtYTBRGSqCFP6wUImmJxY_HXaDvuEvVvsv5-jM

“For an analysis on the system that is Rugby Rankings, please welcome Dr. Maj. Victor Gorkin, Sports Statistician with the Department of Sports and Professor of Statistics at the University of Saint Andreisburg!”

[Audience applauds]

“Thank you for joining us here in Garrison Stadium, Dr. Maj. Gorkin.” says Katina.

“Please, call me Viktor!” the doctor-major playfully said.

“Now tell me, Viktor, how did the Rankings even start? It feels like we’ve had them forever in Dalimbari rugby at least!”

“Certainly, but before rugby became more professionalized in the mid-1340s, we never had the Rankings. At that time there were local leagues, particularly in the Starija, which incited passions. This is how many of our greatest teams, from Nadu Naval to Posadka to Fort Kaisah, came into being. The sailors of Nadu formed their team and competed locally, for example. Posadka was just a neighbourhood team for a while. Local champions of their leagues would come together and try to sort out who was the best in the Free State.

It wasn’t until the Union da Rugby formed which led to professionalization and the club scene of Dalimbari rugby. Teams which could afford talent and prospects would get it while those who couldn’t simply failed. That’s the way the Path lays for us.

However, as I’m sure you all know…” he winks at the audience. “... it’s popular to back winners! People bet on the sport! I know most of you might have put in a few Credits, especially if your home team was really onto something, am I right?” the audience laughs and it appears quite a few of them make gestures that they have indeed bet on the sport.

“My husband is in too deep! He keeps betting on Belosel and that hasn’t been a winning bet lately!” Katina says almost exasperatedly.

“Oh, poor guy. And this is why the Department of Sport started to design Rugby Rankings for the Marshal’s Cup. It shows you how well teams are doing relative to one another in a way that may be hidden from just the score lines.

For a hyper-competitive league like ours with 40 teams almost constantly going head to head, it’s easy to see that, say, Marinsky being at 79.48, has a better chance of winning versus your husband’s poor Belosel at 68.45 in a head to head. Doesn’t mean it’s impossible for Belosel to win! Remember that stomper they did against Nadu Naval last year?” some in the crowd groan while a few become a tad too enthusiastic in their clapping.

“When it was announced that there would be a Rugby World Cup, we took it upon ourselves in DoS to try the same kind of Rankings but at the international level. Show how foreign teams are doing relative to one another.

What the system wants to see is a fair fight between two teams. If you have say… our Boys in Blue face off against those weird Zoranians, who have regrettably won the last two Cups, the winner should get a big boost. What it doesn’t seem to like is when a super strong team goes up against a team which… how do I put this… could have used a few qualifier matches before joining the big leagues. These weaker teams certainly get experience just surviving say a “Big 4” team while the Rankings system is wondering how on Esferos they even left the pitch alive. So, if you’re following the Rankings, this is why despite a win on the pitch, the losing team may gain points.”

“Interesting point, Viktor! We don’t see this in the Marshal’s Cup, do we?”

“There was one match several years ago where Port Ain benefited from this because of just how down in the dumps they were at that point, facing off an almost impossibly hot Posadka, but nothing like what we’ve been seeing on the international stage. Perhaps if the foreign squads had more opportunity to play one another, and build each other up, we wouldn’t see as much impact.”

“Thank you so much for your insight, Viktor. We’re going to take a quick break before we preview the Round of 16 matches coming up. Will the Boys in Blue have any trouble with Kalmach? Stay tuned!”

Activists detained on Cambrian whaling vessel - Polar Conservancy
By Cambrian Public Broadcasting Staff

April 14, 1423

Evanstad (CPB) - On Friday, a Cambrian frigate detained three environmental activists, including one Badgerian and two Novasamitan citizens, after they boarded a research vessel conducting a cetacean census and culling expedition in the Thulian Ocean. The individuals in question, from the Badgerian-based group Esferos Rescue, were supported by the non-profit Polar Conservancy, which is currently tracking Cambria’s whaling fleet in an effort to prevent the cull. The Novasamita-based Polar Conservancy has been campaigning for some time to stop the cull and confirmed that the three activists, described as "prisoners now detained on a Cambrian warship", were still on board the JARVIS.

Arnold Paulsen, founder of the Polar Conservancy, stated via satellite phone while enroute to the Thulian Ocean that the Cambrian frigate had been dispatched to impede the organization's campaign. Paulsen further noted that the activists' radios appeared to have been seized and that there had been no response from the Cambrian vessel. "They are stalking us," Paulsen stated. "The Jarvis won’t talk to us. They don’t respond to our radio calls." The spokesman for the Crown Institute for Marine Sciences, which coordinates the annual hunt, confirmed that the three men were in Cambrian custody and being questioned, but was unable to comment on whether or not they would be taken to Cambria. According to Colton Nordstrom, the spokesman, the Cambrian research vessel was 1,100 km off the Novasamitan coast at the time of the incident.

Steve Earle, spokesman for Esferos Rescue, stated that the action was intended to protest the Cambrian government's inaction and demand the return of the whalers to Cambria's exclusive economic zone. "We don’t need to kill these beautiful creatures anymore," he told CPB.

Special thanks to Big Bad Badger for his input.

The Giovannilandian national rugby team had been waiting for this moment for a long time. Ever since the 1st Rugby World Cup, hosted in the Polarii country of Reçueçn and in which Giovanniland had reached a formidable third place after defeating rugby powerhouse Dalimbar, the team's fortunes had fallen flat. The next two cups saw a disappointing group stage exit for the cross-continental nation, nearly making it to the knockout stage but twice falling short, or even missing a place by point differential.

Yet, when it seemed that would happen again when the team started with a draw, a win and a loss in three matches, performance improved and the Giovannilandians won all following matches, finishing with a strong second place in the group between defending champions Zoran, and soaring in the rankings. All eyes now turn to Nieubasria, the opponent for the round of 16. It'll be the first meeting of both teams in any Rugby World Cup, and although our side notably won the third place match against the Basric team in the last Summer Esferiad, the Esferiad's Rugby Sevens is quite different from the RWC's Rugby Union. Giovanniland currently holds the ranking advantage, but no team should underestimate their opponent, and all we can hope is that we play the best we can to win the match.

If the victory is achieved, our quarter-finals match could be against either Dalimbar or Kalmach, who face each other today. The Dalimbari are hosting this tournament and have always finished in the top four of every RWC, so most predictions lean towards the hosts' victory. If this happens, then it would set the stage for a match that has already happened twice before, firstly the aforementioned third place match in RWC1, and secondly a group stage match in RWC2. In the latter occasion, Giovanniland won against the match, but not by enough points to qualify because Dalimbar still had a better point differential, so one could call that a tactical Dalimbari victory. Regardless, even with favorable past results for Giovanniland, one must not forget that the Dalimbari are the hosts and home turf advantage matters, as did for Giovanniland in the last Summer Esferiad

And from there, the possibilities only increase for who qualifies in the other parts of the bracket. Regardless, this is only the second time the cup has been hosted in Polaris, and also the second time Giovanniland has qualified for the knockout stage, which resulted in a third place finish last time it happened. Perhaps that is telling, but only time will unveil what's in store for the next chapters of the 4th Rugby World Cup.

The TV camera zoomed in close on Alex Uchechukwu’s face, glistening with sweat and gasping for air, staring up plaintively at the scoreboard, as if his pleading eyes might change their awful loss against Dalimbar in their final group stage match, 8-20.

Alex’s ne-ne, head of the Uchechukwu clan, had the seat of honor befitting her position as matriarch: the cushioned wicker chair pulled closest to the old TV set in the corner, flickering with the poor wireless reception between the rolling hills of western Kwande province. But Alex’s mother—his ne-ne’s second-youngest daughter—and her siblings, plus their wives and their husbands and their children—Alex’s first cousins—and their children, Alex’s second cousins, and Alex’s two older brothers, and Alex’s nephews and all the assorted friends and extended relations of the rugby star could see him on the screen and feel his disappointment spreading across their own brooding faces. The throng of children even stopped their play fighting, following the cues of the adults who had all fallen disturbingly silent.

Grief spread first. A few tears streamed down his mother’s cheeks. “Oh, my love,” she murmured. Then came bitter anger. The men muttered and grumbled with his father. “Home field advantage—Dalimbar paid off the referees—who expects somebody to play rugby in snow and 1 degree weather?”

Alex’s grandmother, his ne-ne, drummed the end of her cane on the floor: slowly at first, then faster and faster until the living room came to order. Silence once more washed over the extended Uchechukwu family, but this time in receptive anticipation. Parted lips held back bated breath.

At last, when she was sure every ear would cling to her every word, the rasping oracle made her pronouncement:

”The rains do not need your tears to wet the earth. The fields will be green again before you can wipe them from your face.”

Little Adaka, only six years old, asked everyone else’s question for them, but with a child’s innocence rather than reproachful glares for her great-grandmother’s obtuse rambling: “What’s that supposed to mean?”

But she would not say another word. And when the room felt the thin, hot breeze of the dry monsoon blow through the open window, they knew nature itself reproached Alex’s ne-ne, and dismissed her wisdom for their own muttering.

Still, the old woman clung to hope undashed by Dalimbar, unlike so many back in Ostronia. She knew in her heart the fields would be green—especially on the championship pitch.

Ryxtylopia is in!

Ryxtylopia had passed the groups! Even with one final defeat against UA, making the win to loss ratio 1, Ryxtylopia came 3rd in its group, and advanced to the next round; the Round of 16, its next match would be a particularly tough oponent: Ostronia, who had come 2nd in their group, just behind Dalimbar, and probably out of the debutants had the best debut, with 4 wins, 1 draw and only 1 loss.

But spirts were still high as the team had just achieved the goal of making the groups, and now were on the next round, as TVNC instead of doing their regular post match review, would do a live broadcast and interview some of the players before the Ostronia match.

[Railo]: 3... 2... 1... and we are live! Good afternoon Ryxtylopia, and the world!

[Eiva]: Hello!

[Tixica]: Afternoon!

[Railo]: We are currently live from the TVNC station in Ivitaita, Ryxenia! Im Tivan Railo and ill be joined by Nixta Eiva and Marco Tixica! Its a good day, since well we're going to talk about rugby, and how Ryxtylopia made it to the round of 16!

[Tixica]: Indeed Railo, 16 teams left... right? Anywho, our team sure had the time of their lives qualifying, and now we're just a few hours away from the Ostronia match to determine who'll pass on to quarter finals.

[Railo]: Well yeah, we also saw some pretty memorable matches in our group, my two favorites actually were the ones against Aftokratoria and Fujai!

[Eiva]: Really? I thought we lost those.

[Railo]: We did, but the one against Fujai saw our inexperienced team successfully defend and only concede three, while the Aftokratoria match at least for the second half was the definition of intense as both teams came paralizingly close to victory, Aftokratoria getting the win in the end.

[Tixica]: Not to mention the matches in the other groups.

[Eiva]: Well, you all remember the reason we're here right? Im going to start the call right now... and... there!

[Gaíves]: Hello everybody!

[Tixica]: Gaives, what a miracle! We haven't seen you in ages!

[Railo]: Yeah, where have you been?

[Gaíves]: Well im currently with our team, as they're getting ready for the match with Ostronia, they have some time left to say hello to the country, and for us to wish them the best!

[Railo]: Amaizing, well how about you get to it?

[Gaíves]: On it, let me just... hold on... excuse me...

Gaíves and his cameraman reach the team waiting outside in a parking lot, as the bus arrived, they head up to Andreís Tivarra, the coach.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

[Gaíves]: Hello good sir!

[Tivarra]: Hey there, so what would you like to ask?

[Gaíves]: Andreís Tivarra, right?

[Tivarra]: Yeah, yea- HEY! DIPARTÍ! Stop tha- oh sorry! I think the team's a little to excited for their own good.

[Gaíves]: How would you describe the current atmosphere?

[Tivarra]: A mix of both excitement and nervousness, Ostronia is a tough opponent, but i think Aftokratoria has humbled us enough.

[Gaíves]: I see that... Anyways, how does the team feel about making the group?

[Tivarra]: I can't answer that. But the team can.

Tivarra whistles to everybody

[Tivarra]: COME ON EVERYBODY GATHER FOR THE CAMERAS!

[Gaíves]: Alright alright, i see what you're doing... OKAY RYXTYLOPIA! HOW DO WE FEEL ABOUT MAKING THE GROUPS!

Everybody responds, responses ranging from "Great!" to "I think i peed myself" as the sort of unintelligable response of the team gets through to the microphone before everybody chuckles and laughs.

[Gaíves]: hah... ha... ahhh... THAT'S GREAT I GUESS! I couldn't really hear *chuckle* .

[Gaíves]: Anyways, so do we have any comment on the opposite team?

[Tivarra]: Ostronia did really well in their group, id say pretty similar to us, especially in the PD department. Do we have the ability to beat them? Yes! Do they have the ability to beat us? Also yes! *chuckle* Ive been nervous pretty all morning even if i don't need to be since we made the groups! But me and the team would like to make it a little further than the groups.

[Gaíves]: Interesting.

[Tivarra]: Yes, well how about you talk with the team? We'll have to go soon.

[Gaíves]: Alright, thank you for your time sir!

[Tivarra]: No problem!

Gaíves walks to some of the players

[Gaíves]: Excuse me, can i get a comment on either the upcomming match or on your opinion of this world cup as a whole?

[Pailo Mataña]: Oh sure, i...

[Marco Xilta]: Its cold.

[Gaíves]: That's all...?

[Marco Xilta]: Yes its cold! And i hate the cold, whenever its cold i feel like bad luck strikes me!

[Gaíves]: How so?

[Marco Xilta]: Okay, so last time it was cold back home i got into a motorbike accident, like i was with this rando' friend in the uhhh Dixivarrias Street, drinking and he told me: "I know a place to get top notch drink!" and i freezing, said: "Y-You d-do?" I was really cold but he said: "Yes" and so we went down a hill, he was stepping on the gas and then uh... we struck a rock and the motorbike went flying.

[Gaíves]: Oh...

[Marco Xilta]: And i went flying with it! I dropped the drink and landed on a bush, and uhhh my friend also flew and he went through a window, before earning himself a trip to the hospital. And the motorbike went to **** too, but you know, whenever its cold bad luck just seems to follow me, as Tivarra has me benched for this game.

[Gaíves]: Uhh okay...?

[Marco Xilta]: Yeah, that happens when its cold...

*In the distance* Suck it Xilta!!! Im better than you! Says Riberto Ca'aña as a crowd of 6 including himself start laughing uncontrollably once the camera pitches to the left.

[Marco Xilta]: SHUT UP! You! uhh... uhhhhh... You did nothing in the UA game!

*In the distance* None of us did! *The laughter continues*

[Marco Xilta]: *chuckling* Ah- oh well that's my side of the story, thanks for your time!

[Gaíves]: No, thank you for your time sir, good luck!

Gaíves finds someone else

[Gaíves]: Morni- I mean, evening!

[Avilita Mataña]: Hey!! Oh wait, Hi mom!

[Gaíves]: *Chuckles* Well uh sorry to interrupt but may i get a comment on the upcomming match or on this tournament as a whole please?

[Avilita Mataña]: Oh sure thing, Ostronia, they look so far challenging, but im not worried.

[Gaíves]: How so?

[Avilita Mataña]: Beacause our team also did pretty well considering the rivals we faced, i think both teams performed roughly the same for their respective groups! So we can beat them, also Tivarra has insisted for the past two days we train for this match *chuckle* and i did!

[Gaíves]: Great for you, any other comment?

[Avilita Mataña]: Id say that's it, its been a wonderful world cup and id say the warm people of Dalimbar did a pretty decent job at hosting it, maybe im being a little bit bias but its my first rugby cup.

[Gaíves]: Yeah you're being Bias, but in a good way id say, thanks for your time!

Gaíves looks for one more person to interview

[Gaíves]: Evening!

[Quista Farris]: Evening.

[Gaíves]: Excuse me, may i get a comment on the upcomming match or this world cup as a whole?

[Quista Farris]: Sure, its been an amaizing ride, and i feel like ive learnt a lot, i mean compared to our league this is a whole different level, and its both exciting and nerve wracking!

[Gaíves]: That's actually a pretty good way to put it... oh sorry... anything else?

[Quista Farris]: Well im glad i made this tournament, and id like to thank on behalf of the team, everybody that's watching us for your support, or your attention if you don't support us.

Gaíves walks away as he adjusts his earpiece

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

[Gaíves]: Alright, thanks for your time! Whoooo-wee, that sure was a ride.

[Eiva]: We saw *chuckle* anywho, thanks for your time Gaíves

[Gaíves]: Anytime, see you!

[Tixaca]: ILL INVITE YOU FOR A DRINK ONCE YOU RETURN HOME!!

The call with Gaíves ends as the video goes back to Railo, Eiva and Tixaca in the studio.

[Railo]: That team sure looks ready for the match!

[Tixaca]: Yeahhhhh... right... didn't you see they were laughing like crazy?

[Eiva]: Like you do everytime Gaíves said he was going to run face first into a brick wall only to run face first into the floor?

*The three laugh*

[Tixaca]: Hahaha- Well, thats a fair point i guess.

[Eiva]: They're just excited for their match, Tivarra looked stressed, but the rest do look ready.

[Railo]: Well... something im ready for apart from the results is our mid transmission ad break!

[Tixaca]: Ah no way, i was about to re tell about the time me and Gaíves also got ourselves thrown from the street into a bush.

[Railo]: Save that one for later Tixaca, but anyways, thanks for watching ladies and gentlemen, we'll be back to you shortly!

The camera zooms out as the transmission cuts to ads

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Meanwhile in the bus:

The players were in an overcrowded bus, most cheering, the atmosphere was pretty relaxed, as Tivarra, like usual prepared to be overly emotional just before the match. He stood up from his seat behind the driver and started to talk.

"Listen everybody, Ostronia's next, and they'll be tough, i want everybody to do their best, this could very well be our last match, so if its going to be we want to put on a good show, can we all agree on that?"

"Well good, its been a good tournament, im glad i got to be coach of this wonderful team"

"Don't worry Tivarra, you'll get a good show beacause we'll aim for the win!"

Then the signing starts...

"Adilienti Ryxtylopia... Adilienti a vyncér, e diporte la pasion, di noistra naxion quista di pie!"

Within seconds the entire bus starts singing:

"Adilienti Ryxtylopia...

Pieeeeeeeeeeee!"

Everybody cheers and laughs as the bus continues on its way to the stadium, getting ready for what could be the team's final match for this tournament.

Nagisa.png.9f866297cd31fd0843368cdb878f1f0f.pngNagisa I.: Really? But how?

Seiya.png.5c8b78069fd3c8a597dc419a75c48977.pngSeiya N.: I know you two are intellectual prodigies in the conventional sense, but is that even possible?

Lisa.jpg.8d6e845959f4940556e06b255dd0c068.jpgLisa L.: Yesh. With the help of my latest invention, we will be able to transhlate the shound of the O.Sh.T. into electronical information that will be transhmitted to the brain through theshe wiresh. It will be ash if you were lishtening to it in your head. Gwyn'sh mathematical calculationsh formed the bashish of thish technology. I am sure it will sholve the problems that come with the shircumshtancesh behind Shizune's mutenessh.

[Lisa makes it abundantly clear that she has a lisp, hence the 's' sounds being (OOC: written as) 'sh' instead. Gwyn signs Lisa's words to Shizune.]

Nagisa.png.9f866297cd31fd0843368cdb878f1f0f.pngNagisa I.: Wow...

Julian.png.ef178a52b77d3f3943a56b9d0dae4fe9.pngJulian K.: I'm meant to be the most talented person in the country, and I could never create that.

Tess.jpg.fd5dcb36df6f03837cebd2522207b013.jpgTess D.: Looks like some of us have more free time than others.

Seiya.png.5c8b78069fd3c8a597dc419a75c48977.pngSeiya N.: They've probably been working on this for a while now.

[Seiya glances over at The Stig, who acts as translator for Shizune when the others aren't directly conversing with her.]

Seiya.png.5c8b78069fd3c8a597dc419a75c48977.pngSeiya N.: Still, I never would have imagined something like that was even possible.

Shizune.png.0e07d4ab98ff3012254b0f9a6a8623dc.pngShizune H.: ... [Sign language -> Translation: If this works, then it would prove useful. Come on Origami, we need to get this sorted, follow my lead.]

[Shizune took command of the situation to Lisa's surprise and showed the rest of the team just how much of a fearsome taskmaster she can be. Gwyn was unimpressed.]

Origami.png.4793b216da982c66dbea5a0e0779db28.pngOrigami T.: This attaches to your head?

Rago.png.3756654d6eacb6909238aadaa0994aeb.pngRago N.: That's what it appears to be for.

Krux.png.83f290a036aa7fa89435e617f51ac033.pngKrux H.: Can you get on with it? We don't have all day.

Shu.png.c296acab443d0068996e417890cf7d77.pngShu K.: Don't rush them Krux. They know what they're doing.

Delta.jpg.01de26f67a0faeeae3b077ac8edfe657.jpgDelta Z.: No scientist is immune from making mistakes. The same goes for Lisa.

[Gwyn has the urge to chime up and mention how math played a part, but decides not to. Delta notices Gwyn in his peripheral vision.]

Delta.jpg.01de26f67a0faeeae3b077ac8edfe657.jpgDelta Z.: Hm?

Gwyn.png.e1385f68fc5b45f7558f9a0dc11c00c7.pngGwyn R.: However, there is no guarantee that it will work. This is its first use.

Eirin.jpg.47685651073ed93286b9af9b8cfc5be2.jpgEirin Y.: It's too bad, if it does disappoint.

[The rest of the team ponder which one of the geniuses out of Lisa, Gwyn and Eirin to believe.]

Arthur.jpg.2b2b4f5dd4a102a6acf00ae6d01c341d.jpgArthur P.: I hope it fails. James, you agree, don't you? ...James, I command you to stop ignoring me!

James.thumb.jpg.96d19b7e601c604d39a7130400238a39.jpgJames M.: I'm not convinced by that though because I think electricity is a mystery. It is. Yep. I don't actually believe in it. Nobody really understands it.

Delta.jpg.01de26f67a0faeeae3b077ac8edfe657.jpgDelta Z.: You don't believe in electricity?

Richard.jpg.606bc83780e243de45296567d1d3eac2.jpgRichard H.: What you're witnessing here is Asperger's made real.

Futo.png.8ed83d6b745932f5076f104e7231e501.pngFuto M.: Is that the item that makes thy urine smell most hilarious?

Hyouka.jpg.7b1a051148dfae546ac1a3f4ff18b946.jpgHyouka F.: No!

Naho.jpg.90a97e2d182298bced2490b24bb14389.jpgNaho S.: No, that's asparagus.

Mizore.jpg.e316db7ae6ba96d48bd27c9dc78bb092.jpgMizore S.: I think Shizune is ready, shall I turn on the device?

Clarkov.png.da930e93d56ca8e218e27d675a097752.pngClarkov S.: I'd wait, seems to me like Lisa is in the middle of something.

Stig.jpg.3ba827ae72a66ae7a2ad65de74c46a52.jpgThe Stig: ... [Sign langauge -> Translation: Where did you appear from?]

Seiya.png.5c8b78069fd3c8a597dc419a75c48977.pngSeiya N.: That reminds me, I have some news you'll need to hear. Zoranian queen Atsil has been sent off by her ministers to seek therapy. It seems like something you normally don't care about, but keep listening.

Delta.jpg.01de26f67a0faeeae3b077ac8edfe657.jpgDelta Z.: When we saw that, we quickly realised that for all the 10-11 years of emotional and mental torment you've had to put up with over your childhood, coupled with the time you had to spend as Prime Minister because of a previous imbecilic lack of age limits (which are not in place for this team), you still haven't done the same.

Rococo.png.1c459e59d191119971a752dc82882995.pngRococo U.: It's a lucky thing you never had to attend full time besides events such as the Esferiad. The country effectively ran like an absolute monarchy before that lack of limit was remedied. Anyway, what we're saying is you need to book counselling after this tournament. It'll do a great job for your wellbeing.

Shizune.png.0e07d4ab98ff3012254b0f9a6a8623dc.pngShizune H.: ... [Sign language -> Translation: I concur. You've already been able to be your true self, but you can't shoulder recovery alone. You'll end up pushing away those who care about you. Take it from someone with experience of doing just that. You'll mentally cripple yourself if you don't seek help.]

Eirin.jpg.47685651073ed93286b9af9b8cfc5be2.jpgEirin Y.: There'll be no need for waiting. Free has already requested me to be the therapist.

Rago.png.3756654d6eacb6909238aadaa0994aeb.pngRago N.: You were the one that planned this?

Free.jpg.61e1548cd4509100e1c2174e2d629849.jpgFree d. l. H.: That's right. I'm not about to let Clarkov destroy themselves.

[Clarkov is in mild shock over hearing this and takes some time to process what they just heard. They simply turn to Free and nod and flash a small smile in appreciation as thanks.]

Rago.png.3756654d6eacb6909238aadaa0994aeb.pngRago N.: Sometimes your goodness annoys me.

Rococo.png.1c459e59d191119971a752dc82882995.pngRococo U.: So that's settled. Don't worry, Snow Sage, you'll benefit from this. Lisa, we're all set, right? Let's kick off!

[Lisa attaches the device to Shizune's head and the OST list begins. Along the way, everyone wonders what the words in some of the themes are. They chalk them off as the H&J equivalent of "Ominous Marcarian Chanting". Even when it clearly wasn't. Some also get creeped out by a few of the choices. Most notably was the often ridiculous names each of them had chosen for the OST.]

It would appear that one of the team members is now finally set to receive a therapy session of their own. Multiple of them.
