  1. Hornar på Sundet // Horns on the Sound

    Braskvik, Mærtesund Fylke - 23:37 12 februar 1319

A person walks up a hill on a dark, cobbled street. The rain is coming down heavily. They arrive at the door marked 15 and knock. A few seconds pass before they’re let in quickly to an unlit room.

“Where have you been, Anjar?” a gruff voice asks from the dark.

The soaked newcomer replies, making no move to take off their coat, “We haven’t much time, they’ll be here in the morning.”

The gruff voice grunts, digging out and striking a match. “What do you mean? Haugen should have been cut off at Svannes” it asks. They light a small oil lamp, spreading just enough light to see each other by.

“I mean they’ll be here in just a few hours, Halna, the Sundmarine fell,” Anjar replies, “We have to warn the others, Haugen will be quick to root out potential sympathizers once they get here, and unfortunately, we fit that bill.”

“But we can’t just give up all the progress we’ve made!" Halna says, “Just because the armies will change doesn’t mean our mission does.”

“Well what are we supposed to do then?!” Anjar says, their veneer of calm finally worn through, “We can’t leave and we can’t stay? That’s no choice at all.”

Halna pauses for a moment. “...Could we ask the others? We have to let them know at the very least, and we can come to a decision together. Skomedal will find out if we try to send a telegram to Strafsund, and we probably couldn’t arrange it quick enough anyway...fjann!1 We should’ve prepared earlier...”

Anjar presses their hand to Halna’s shoulder, “There was no way we could’ve known it'd be this quick, we weren't expecting it for weeks more. You've got a good idea, though, give me a few minutes and I’ll head back out to gathe—” they’re cut off as the sound of a horn echoes through the rain, coming from the sound. Two muffled cracks follow.

    “Fjann.”

    Tracks: 10
    Total length: 33:50
    Genres: Indie pop/rock
    Year: 2003
Favorite track: (i have no idea)

So this isn't my favorite album, and it's really the only album by the Shins that I like. However, it's a very good album specifically. It gets the idea of an album as a cohesive art piece really good. Every song fits where it is—there's an overarching vibe that it gives off that makes it difficult to listen to just one song without listening to the whole album. I think because of that I don't really have a favorite song from the album. They all hit hard, but differently in such a way that it's almost hard to tell which song is which.

Listening to it now brings very visceral memories of a couple summers ago, sitting in my not air conditioned apartment kind of floating along while living alone and working for the summer. I remember very specifically listening to it while driving through a rainstorm on the way to my sister's place and it's retained that slightly dissociative feeling of driving through corn fields on a humid summer day as it rains off and on.

    Fujais Idrottsforbund (FIF)

Fujais Idrottsforbund is the federation of labor unions representing all sports players and workers in sports-associated industries. It is separate from the Fujansk government, but receives accreditation and financial and infrastructural support from it. Its structure includes clubs at the local level (e.g. a local sports club), which are constituents of fylke organizations, which are a part of the larger federation representing specific sports (e.g. Fujais Fotbollforbund for football), which are then members of FIF. FIF is a member of the Rhodoniad and OCTWPUS (Olympic Council of The West Pacific Union of Sports), and is Fujai's representative to the Olympic Council.

    Fujais Fotbollforbund (FjFF)

Fujais Fotbollforbund is the governing body of football in Fujai and represents all players, related workers, and clubs in the country. It governs Fujai's league system, consisting of Fyrstserien, Annarserien, Tredjeserien, and the landsdel leagues. Fylke leagues and lower are organized by the the fylke organizations.

    Interesting tidbits:

    • Hafstrand 07, one of the best supported clubs in the country, had a dreadful year, falling from 10th to 12th on the last matchday. You can bet they'll be out for blood in Annarserien next year.
    • The four largest clubs continued their dominance, with Bruland, Trondsnes, Almoren, and Solbakken all finishing in the top five.
    • AS Savigny-Bilten, off its merger of AS Savigny and Bilten FC a few years ago, charted one of its highest finishes yet. Both teams were founded in the early 1300s by Reçuecian immigrants.

    Interesting tidbits:

    • Lindskrona and Ossen, relegated from Fyrstserien just last year topped the series to return to the top flight.
    • Keiserholde Tretønnar, the nation's winningest club in its heyday fifty years ago (and retains the dislike of much of the country to this day), was once again kept from reentering Fyrstserien.

    Interesting tidbits:

    • Everyone in the nation became Vaden fans over the course of the cup. In the first round, they defeated Keiserholde Tretønnar. In the second they stunned the country by defeating a big four team in one of the highest scoring matches we've seen in a while, going all the way to penalty kicks. In the next round, they played against similarly ranked Nore, soundly beating them and moving to the Kamp. They faced two top flight teams, one of which a big four, and made it to the final. That, however, was where their cinderella story ended, as they lost to Rønnhavn by one penalty kick.
    • Solbakken, one of the big four and last year's cup champions, were removed in the first round in a no holds barred match with local Keiserholde rivals and fellow big four team, Bruland, who were removed in the Kamp by the Annarserien side Vaden.

  5. Autumn is my second favorite season, just behind winter, because it ends the oppressive heat and humidity of summer. I finally get to wear jackets and sweaters without dying (because I do that in summer too :P), everything's comfy outside and inside, the leaves are changing, and Halloween is right around the corner. Note that around here, late September usually has the tail end of Summer's weather, so all of this applies more to October, but hey, it's the thought that counts.

The spring equinox is usually soggy or snowy, the latter of which is greatly preferred.

  6. I hate to be a bother (and double-poster), but I had incorrectly assumed that the HoN mask had access to the printing press subforum, so even though the newspaper mask hasn't been created, my staff can't access it yet and we need to be able to finalize planning as soon as we can. If there's any way this could be expedited I would be extremely grateful!

    UNDERSTRUKTUR // INFRASTRUCTURE

Let's get wild today. I guess that would be considered a UFO. A big cotton ball in the sky. You have to allow the paint to break to make it beautiful. We don't make mistakes we just have happy little accidents.

Just let your mind wander and enjoy. This should make you happy. If it's not what you want - stop and change it. Don't just keep going and expect it will get better. You have freedom here. The only guide is your heart. We don't want to set these clouds on fire. These things happen automatically. All you have to do is just let them happen.

We can always carry this a step further. There's really no end to this. Let's build an almighty mountain. In your world you can create anything you desire.

We'll throw some old gray clouds in here just sneaking around and having fun. Talent is a pursued interest. That is to say, anything you practice you can do. Working it up and down, back and forth.

    ECONOMY

I will take some magic white, and a little bit of Vandyke brown and a little touch of yellow. Trees grow in all kinds of ways. They're not all perfectly straight. Not every limb is perfect. This is your world.

We start with a vision in our heart, and we put it on canvas. Everything is happy if you choose to make it that way. With something so strong, a little bit can go a long way. Remember how free clouds are. They just lay around in the sky all day long.

And maybe, maybe, maybe... A little happy sunlight shining through there. See there, told you that would be easy. Let's have a happy little tree in here.

It is a lot of fun. Let's put a touch more of the magic here. You can create beautiful things - but you have to see them in your mind first. We'll put some happy little leaves here and there. It's amazing what you can do with a little love in your heart.

    KULTUR // CULTURE

There are no mistakes. You can fix anything that happens. You can't have light without dark. You can't know happiness unless you've known sorrow. Water's like me. It's laaazy ... Boy, it always looks for the easiest way to do things You want your tree to have some character. Make it special. Tree trunks grow however makes them happy. Little trees and bushes grow however makes them happy.

This is the fun part You've got to learn to fight the temptation to resist these things. Just let them happen. You gotta think like a tree. Use what happens naturally, don't fight it. Let's make some happy little clouds in our world.

I really recommend you use odorless thinner or your spouse is gonna run you right out into the yard and you'll be working by yourself. If you don't think every day is a good day - try missing a few. You'll see. The only prerequisite is that it makes you happy. If it makes you happy then it's good. Be brave. You can create beautiful things - but you have to see them in your mind first.

Use your imagination, let it go. Be so very light. Be a gentle whisper. Van Dyke Brown is a very nice brown, it's almost like a chocolate brown.

    POLITIKK // POLITICS

The government of Fujai is a communal socialist directorial republic split into three branches: the legislative, executive, and mediative. Legislative power is placed in the Velkting, the parliament; executive power is placed in the Statsråd, the council; mediative, or judicial power, is placed in the Statsmidjerjon. Statsråd collectively serves as the head of state and government.

    Velktinget

The Velkting is Fujai’s parliament, made up of 211 Velktingsrepresentants (VRs). The Velkting has been a unicameral body since the Folkskongress of 1316 abolished the former upper house, the Højting, among other things. The Velkting is seated in Velktingshuset inside Solrunsborg, Grønnevej 100, Keiserholde.

    Functions and Members

The Velkting’s duties focus on acting as the peoples’ representatives, lawmaking, policy, and the running of the Fujansk government. Apart from these, the Velkting has the power to call snap elections for itself and the Statsråd with 60% support. The Velkting elects the Høytalar, the speaker, who is one of the most prominent public figures in Fujai. They are typically the leader of the largest party in the Velkting, though there have been exceptions to that custom.

Velktingsrepresentants must be Fujansk residents of at least 16 years of age at the time of election. VRs are elected for a maximum of two three-year terms.

    Elections

Velktingsrepresentants are elected directly using a mixed-member proportional system, where voters cast ranked preference votes for their mixed member district and a vote for political party. 100 VRs are elected through multi-member districts, while the remaining 111 VRs are chosen from open party lists to achieve a proportional distribution of political parties. Elections in Fujai are overseen by the Statskjøsingkomisjon (informally known as Kjøsa).

    Statsråd

The Statsråd is the council that serves as the executive power of Fujai. It consists of seven directly elected members, the Rådgafar, who each head one of the seven Ministerjonor. The chair of the council is the Rådsrodd, whose deputy is the Annarrådsrodd, commonly called the Rodd and Annar, respectively.

    Elections

Elections for the Statsråd are held yearly concurrently with Velkting elections. Rådgafar are directly elected to specific seats on the Statsråd by ranked choice vote for up to three one-year terms. The positions of Rodd and Annar are elected yearly by approval vote among all candidates running for Rådgafar, and may only serve in that capacity once. Only Velktingsrepresentants are eligible to stand for election and must give up their seat if elected.

Snap elections for all members of the Statsråd (and Velkting) may be called by the Velkting once per year, though not within three months of a regularly scheduled election. Rådgafar elected in this way serve out the rest of their term.

Recall elections for individual Rådgafar may be initiated with 70% support in the Velkting, or by successful public petition.

    Functions and Members

The Rådgafar serve as the heads of Fujai's seven Ministerjonor and they serve as the collective head of government of Fujai—no single member is vested with executive power. The Rådsrodd serves merely as a spokesperson and meeting convenor, and not as a leader, per se. The Utanriksrådgafar performs many of the foreign relations tasks that heads of state perform in many other countries.

    SAGA // HISTORY

Get tough with it, get strong. We'll make some happy little bushes here. You can work and carry-on and put lots of little happy things in here. If I paint something, I don't want to have to explain what it is. A fan brush is a fantastic piece of equipment. Use it. Make friends with it. Let that brush dance around there and play.

We can fix anything. If you do too much it's going to lose its effectiveness. What the devil. This is an example of what you can do with just a few things, a little imagination and a happy dream in your heart.

And I will hypnotize that just a little bit. This is your creation - and it's just as unique and special as you are. Isn't that fantastic?

All you have to learn here is how to have fun. There comes a nice little fluffer. Working it up and down, back and forth.

  12. If you could restrict the Printing Press to the newspaper mask (and higher ranking masks like minister/guardian/delegate as well, I assume), I would be greatly appreciative! The folks who should have newspaper mask are:

    @Aelitia @Dilber @Mia @Dalimbar @Reçueçn @Sensorland @Giovanniland @Darkesia @de la Fuentana @Boda @Podium @Teralyon

On the form subject, it was a little more curiosity of what was possible. Laz was using a form stored directly on their forums (not embedded in a post), that, once someone fills it out, it creates a post by them with their responses in a specific subforum. I can do ministry apps pretty easy in a single thread, so it's not of as much use to me personally, but @Overthinkers may or may not find it intriguing for citizenship apps.

  13. I'm planning on using the Printing Press subforum for the newspaper, is it publicly viewable or is there a mask that controls access to it?

Unrelated edit: I was looking around on other regions' forums to see what kinds of things they're doing, and I noticed that a number of them have built-in application forms that automatically create a post from the response—is there something like that that we have access to? I grabbed a screenshot from Laz if that helps get across what I'm talking about:

Fujais Utanriksministerjonet would first like to thank the Estates-Ministry for their timely and detailed responses to our concerns. While insightful, they were, from our perspective, not all in the direction we had hoped the Working Group would choose.

FIrstly, it is the Utanriksministerjon's position that the personal security of Fujansk citizens is of the highest concern, and that the physical security of passports falls second. The standards and recommendations listed in DOC 1-10 through 1-12 we hope, will be adequate to ensure such security. However, from our current position outside the Working Group, we believe that DOC-1-12's statement on implementation of data-skimming prevention protocols should be a required part of the proposed standards, or the identities of millions could be at risk if states choose not to implement them.

Secondly, and related, will systems of enforcement put into place to ensure that the Working Group's standards are upheld by member states, or are these standards simply to provide a baseline in the hopes that other states follow the minimum recommendations?

Thirdly, with respect to entry requirements, we are concerned by the idea that citizens of states that do not follow any or all of these standards would receive unfavorable treatment when compared to treatment before the Working Group's standards were developed. As it stands, there are enough instances of recommendations over requirements in these standards that the security they claim can be compromised easily with the correct technology, making such distinctions somewhat of a double standard.

Fourthly, while the Utanriksministerjon is well aware that many of these issues are, at the moment, matters of individual sovereign states alone, we caution that a false sense of security may be fostered by making such crimes as forgery more difficult through the inclusion of ICs while potentially making identity theft easier.

While international cooperation in all areas is a laudable goal, and one we would like to support, the Fujansk Utanriksministerjon has a number of concerns regarding the safety and security of the eMRTD initiative, laid out as follows:

    1. The initiative is meant to combat theft of physical travel documents, but it seems to be woefully lacking similar discussion on the consequences of the theft of the electronic information stored within the contactless IC. Without proper security and encryption on ICs, they would lower security instead of increasing it.
    2. To this effect, what assurances can the Working Group give us that, should we join the initiative, our citizens' personal information will be safe from theft and misuse?
    3. Should Fujai decline to include biometric data on an IC and the Working Group creates its own standards, can we be assured that our citizens would continue to receive the same treatment in Working Group countries that they do today?

DU-UKH, UUK – Keiserholde, Fujai — Hej folks, Berit here from DU-UKH, Den Blå Duken, UiKeiserholde's officially unofficial student radio. Jens is on "assignment" so it's just me for today's Idrottsminutt, and Fujai is in the FINAL!!!!

Over the last couple days, we've plunged forward into playoffs, coming out with some pretty tense wins. Honestly I'm surprised but incredibly grateful that we've somehow made it this far. First in the quarters, we scraped by against the small(er) nation of Taledo, from off in Doll Guldur, with only 3 points to their nothing. The first two points came in the second half as Bertil Vik scored a penalty kick after being tackled by Taledan full back Barza Nicolo while not having possession. The third came after an impressive drop kick with ten minutes left by Farre Jorg.

The Semifinal at Stade de la Réformation in Genève was accompanied by another protest. After the arrests at the Dalimbari Embassy, the FRF and Fujansk government were furious at Chief of Police Rocher-Éby for ordering protesters arrested and called for their immediate release. While the protest was indeed peaceful, the arrests occurred after firecrackers were used, assumedly symbolizing the Dalimbari land mines. Due to the lack of a case against them, the protesters arrested were released the next day by court order.

Vann I do ramble off sometimes. Today's protests consisted of a large number of Fujansk fans unveiling a giant version of the same red Dalimbari flag that had been seen at the embassy. As the banner was only unveiled after extended time—when the most people would be paying attention—stadium and police officials did not intervene. After the game, and impromptu protest was held outside Stade de la Réformation by the Fujansk supporters, centering around a 15-person marching band adorned in red and white.

But the real kicker at the Semi was an incredibly tense comeback after the match ended naught naught and headed into overtime. The Landslag pulled through at minutes 6 and 8 for two tries and one successful goal kick.

In the Final we'll be seeing Hertferdshire and Jammbo for the first time. Their side is very offensively minded, while ours is heavily defensive, so you might want to watch for sparks when they meet. In non-sports news, however, it was discovered that Prime Minister Clarkov Ongo Clarkson of Hertferdshire and Jammbo personally attended the Embassy protest, which has further stirred the tensions surrounding the Cup. The Dalimbari junta is pressuring the international community to denounce Clarkov's presence, but has not demanded consequences—probably because they don't care so long as they have a wall of land mines to hide behind.

ANYway, that's all for today's Idrottsminutt, and I'll see you tomorrow for the recap!
