    Politics

Ryxtylopian politics are like in the case of most countries, complex, and hinge mainly on the factor of government intervention on internal and external affairs, how centralized and decentralized the nation should be, and this is how it has been for most of Ryxtylopia’s history.
There are many political parties in Ryxtylopia, and politics regularly swing between all of them, so in this section, we’ll discuss the biggest and most important political parties in Ryxtylopia, and the coalitions/groups they form with eachother.

    Diplomacy

Ryxtylopia’s diplomatic approach is and has been characterized mainly by non-interventionism, occasionally there IS intervention but only at a regional level, and Ryxtylopia mainly abstains from conflicts or disputes between other nations outside of its immediate neighborhood.
In economic and military affairs however, Ryxtylopia’s approach with other nations has drastically changed in recent years, the government seeking greater economic cooperation, and starting to seek military cooperation with friendly nations, this being best seen with Ryxtylopia allowing for the first time foreigners to establish military bases within its territory.

@Karlica, the Cartography Board decided not to approve your expansion request. Your original area request was reduced for being too large and brought to a size that would have minimal effect on your other requested statistics and indicators. Wanting one's nation to be larger for the sake of being larger is not a compelling enough reason for expansion.

Full agree on this one—never being stressed sounds incredibly freeing
Being forced into a choice, I'd really go with never being angry, because while both anger and envy can be extremely good and useful emotions, I have a hot headed streak inherited from my father that comes out rarely and I don't like it. But envy can be extremely useful for personal growth so I wouldn't want to get rid of that. The biggest risk in removing all anger is removing righteous anger that motivates you to make positive change in the world—however there are probably a lot healthier emotions you can channel to find that motivation

Can I take the three months (~90 days) instead of the 1 week/month (84 days) and still use them to take a week off every month or something similar?
Devil's advocate a little but in a world that had either of these options it wouldn't make sense for the timing to be forced

Heya folks! I'm doing some research on the history of our regional flag and am hoping to do a little crowdsourcing to fill some gaps and see what old images folks have on their computers. If there are any mistakes in what I've gathered so far, please let me know! If you've also got any other versions of regional flags or TWPAF flags, I would love to collate them here for this effort.
If anyone's got stories about the flag as well I'd love to hear them! I have a few of my own re: the most recent two flags that I'll add later.
This is what I've got so far, with a very small amount of research:
Early 2003, courtesy of @New People, the flag of the Atlantic, sourced here

2004-2005ish, courtesy of @Dilber, possibly earliest known version of the traditional flag:

Late 2006-February 28, 2019, after Eli's first delegacy, courtesy of @Winnipeg, sourced here. Numerous slight variations were created over the years as old versions were deprecated and new ones were created. This is the earliest known version without the text from the one Dilber has:

March 1, 2019-February 18, 2020, Imperial China flag, note slightly off colors in the rays and field—that's the earliest one post-theme contest that I can find in the Cabinet Room on Discord. I fixed the second one up at a later date with the right ones, but I don't remember which was flown more often at the time, so I'm assuming it was the first:

Fujai reacted to Garahun in [Factbook] The Prince-Bishopric of Garahun
The Reign of Artanar Nellaspordo; The Eisgarth Canal and the Arsium Reforms
Artanar Nellaspordo was born into the noble family of Nellaspordo, who long had ruled the lands around Arsium. Growing up he developed a deep sense of empathy and a genuine concern for the well-being of Garahun's citizens. Raised with a strong moral compass, he was inspired by the teachings of compassion and justice found in the historical narratives of benevolent leaders, such as Tarneman II. Bonefadolon. He was elected as prince-bishop in 1344 by a slim majority in the Council of Illegon, after having served as a bishop in Arsium for a decade, and ruled until 1392.
    Arsium Reforms:
Artanar Nellaspordo's reign as prince-bishop was characterized by a series of transformative social reforms that aimed to uplift the lives of the people of Garahun. He implemented concrete measures to address poverty, inequality, and societal injustices, such as:
    1.     The Ecumenical Education Initiative: Recognizing the transformative power of education, Artanar Nellaspordo initiated widespread reforms in the education sector. He tasked the churches across Garahun to ensure that every child, regardless of their social status or background was educated from age 7 to 12. The schooling initiative also indirectly led to the end of child labour in the countryside, as the children had to go to schools six days a week. Scholarships and grants were provided to support deserving students, allowing them to pursue higher education in the universities of Udôn, Illegon or Arsium and contribute to the intellectual, religious, and cultural development of Garahun.
    2.     Healthcare Reforms of 1361: In his pursuit of social welfare, Artanar Nellaspordo prioritized the well-being of his citizens. He established healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and dispensaries, in both urban centres and rural areas. The creation of local healthcare facilities was rushed, however, and Garahun suffered from a lack of doctors. This led to many of the reforms being pulled back throughout 1365.
    3.     Iusmarite Institutional reforms: Artanar Nellaspordo ordered a public debate in Illegon in 1364, where he remarked himself as a completely unique prince-bishop; he challenged the writings of the three pillars. Representatives of Artanar caused a great uproar, when they presented two conflicting holy proclamations of the three pillars:
“Some are born to rule on behalf of I, the great Ius. Most are born to serve me and my higher subjects.”

“The worship of I, the great Ius, is collective, and each must serve me in accordance with my teachings”

Artanar argued that the ones born to rule behalf of the great Ius were not directly the powerful families who held religious and political authority in Garahun, but the ruling bodies themselves. Even though the ruling bodies (The Council of Illegon and The Synod of Udôn, for instance) only consisted of powerful nobles, he thought that the existing laws ensuring the accension to power of specific high-ranking individuals were unjust, because they didn’t correlate with the words of the great Ius.
Many disagreed with Artanar’s point of view, but nonetheless he made it possible for everyone to become a member of the Council of Illegon and Synod of Udôn, if they had the necessary education. A few young talents, who had been given scholarships under The Ecumenical Education Initiative, where adopted into the Synod of Udôn, but the Council of Illegon remained completely controlled by the old nobles, as The Dikares (holy court of Illegon) blocked the entry of common people into the council. The great elector (The Anahar-Ius) of the council, Hamas Theobaldicus, became very enraged with Artanar after the reforms were implemented. The people, however, celebrated Artanar greatly after the initial shock of progressivism ended.
    The Eisgarth Canal:
Artanar Nellaspordo's most iconic achievement was the construction of the Eisgarth Canal, an engineering marvel that transformed Garahun’s transportation and economic landscape. Artanar Nellaspordo envisioned the canal as a safe trave way around the dangerous Salt Sea, which would facilitate trade, and spur economic growth through trade with Ostronia and other nations in Western Nur. The construction of the canal, which was overseen by the Synod of Udôn, led to the following:
    1.     Economic Stimulus: The construction of the Eisgarth Canal created employment opportunities for countless individuals, stimulating economic activity and uplifting local communities. The canal served as a vital trade route, connecting Garahun's major cities with Western Nur and enabling the efficient transportation of goods. This led to an expansion of commerce, increased market accessibility, and the growth of industries along the canal's path.
    2.     Regional Integration: The Eisgarth Canal fostered regional integration by commercially linking previously isolated south of Garahun with the north. The influx of Garahunnic trade vessels facilitated cultural exchange, allowing people from diverse backgrounds to interact and share ideas. Moreover, it promoted the exchange of goods, knowledge, and innovations, further fuelling Garahun's progress as a centre of intellectual and economic activity.
    Assassination of Artanar Nellaspordo
Artanar had with the construction of the Eisgarth Canal, and his many reforms become extremely popular with the Garahunnic population. However, the conservative nobility was enraged that they had lost privileges, and pockets of cultural resistance to the reforms did exist in Garahun’s major cities. The Council of Illegon feared that the tensions could lead to another civil war. But they also feared that removing Artanar could lead to a mob rebellion and a collapse of the rule of the great Ius, which was their holy duty to uphold. Therefore, the great elector and the council of Illegon prepared the assassination of Artanar in the winter of 1392. The elector, Hamas Theobaldicus, declared a special gathering of the council. They had staged a murder scene, where a group of religious conservatists seemed to have slipped past the guards. They shot Artanar while he was speaking to the council of Illegon and flew the scene. The Council did nothing, as his blood spilled on their holy alter. Only when it was revealed that Artanar had survived the assassination attempt, did Hamas Theobaldicus rush up to the alter, where he personally strangled his prince-bishop to death in front of the council. He rose and challenged anyone to depose him as great elector. No one did. Immediately after, Hamas declared himself as the candidate as the new prince-bishop and was shortly after elected as Areolus II. Theobaldicus. He was later granted the nickname ‘The great Zealot’ by the nobility (who did not know of his involvement in the murder of Artanar), because he would draw back almost al the reforms implemented during the reign of Artanar Nellaspordo.
    Legacy and Enduring Impact:
Artanar Nellaspordo's benevolent education and religious reforms and the construction of the Eisgarth Canal left an indelible legacy on Garahun's history. His vision for religious equality, as well as his commitment to transformative infrastructure, continue to shape the nation's identity and development. He was the first prince-bishop ever to take into account the will of the people, and for that he was loved. Although he was assassinated and replaced by Areolus II. Theobaldicus, who turned back most of his reforms and started the South Hallessekratamian War, Artanar Nellaspordo is still a revered figure in Garahun today. Some cultist Iusmarites even worship him on par with the great Ius, in a heresy resembling that of Ôlfar III.

The Land of the Gods - Zòn ekh Jaikoà - An Early History

Long ago, before the world had a name, there was shaped a great archipelago to the North of Nur. It was a beautiful place, with lush forests, sweeping plains, and towering mountains. The land was bountiful, and held all that might be needed in abundance. Yet, in these ancient epochs, man had not yet sat foot on such pristine soil, and so it was that it came to be the exclusive domain of the divine.
Wise readers know these islands, in modern times, to be the "Pala sho Aken Rà" - the lands of the Orthodoxy of Sacred Gold. So named for the being who would become principle among countless deities, Aukera's more formative state is still represented in the local term for the main island; "Zòn ekh Jainkoà." The land of unnumbered Gods.
In the ages before the coming of man, divinities in their thousands resided in the sacred archipelago. Some held dominion over territories as vast as mountains, others as small and serene as a forest glade. Many of the thousands of smaller islands has their own resident divine. In this era, gods of wind raced over the golden fields, and deities of water held court beneath the springs.
In earlier years, the unnumbered Gods fought violently against one another,  shaping the land with the ferocity of their bouts. Great craters and gouges in the landscape are, to this day, attributed to those first battles, when constraint had not yet been forced upon them. In time, as the land's rulers reached the limits of their strength, a natural peace began to settle. Bereft of human worship, the fledgling Gods could not extend themselves beyond their means, and so settled into their carved domains and allowed the land to heal.

When man first set his foot upon the Zòn ekh Jaikoà, he did so tentatively. Surviving archaeological evidence suggests that the islands were inhabited more than twenty thousand years hence, in the form of scattered tools and signs of cave habitation. These early migrants, who are believed to have originated from the Southern continent and arrived by sea, subsisted as hunter-gatherers within the domains of whatever God would abide their presence.
An abundance of recovered artifacts shows that early humanity found patronage beneath a forest divinity of Nemikh, whose image was later proscribed. Depictions of Gìorezh, a deity resident within the canton of Oshk Zhei, are also apparent. As man spread and grew toward sedentism, they began to draw the attention of countless others.
While natural limitations had drawn the borders of the archipelago's Godly domains, its residents had never been happy to settle. Ambition, that most valued tenet of Azten theology, inhabits every immortal being in abundance. Humanity, to this end, became the new battleground through which the most eager Gods sought control.
Humanity's growing presence on the isles is marked by various depictions of regional deities. In Kastal, a cave mural shows a tremendous being of starlight teaching its disciples the means of creating tools. Carvings in the mountains of Fizhisk uniformly portray a serpentine divinity swallowing stormclouds.  In the highlands of Aria, several sites are marked by a depiction of the sun with the great horns of a stag.

In due time, all of the land came to be thus — A hundred kingdoms, each presided over by the most ambitious of the divines. The scriptures teach that this state persisted for many years, in peace and war, with rise and fall. The influence of the Gods waxed and waned, though the conflict in its whole grew to a such fever pitch that it was clear such conditions were bleeding the land dry.
Toward the end of this chaotic epoch, from which little memory remains, there came to be a kingdom built around a mighty river. Along the waters of the Azten, at the heart of what would become the Aken Rà, grew the city of Ior Aria. The patron deity of this kingdom was a golden stag, from whose horns flowed purest water, and who shone with the light of the morning sky. He had long sat atop the mountains, by the spring from which His river flowed, and gazed peacefully into the sun.
Unlike many divinities of power, He had permitted the growth of His city unconditionally. Straddling the connection between the North and South of the island, Ior Aria flourished without the intervention of a god. For this, however, He was revered with equal fervour to even the most present deities. When at last He descended from the mountain, His people received Him with fervour.
For long had the God of Ior Aria stared into the sun. Atop the peaks, He had achieved communion with the Light, from which springs life and all that is good. When He descended, His eyes had been stained in gold, and His insight deepened beyond even the eldest of His kind. He preached freedom from conflict and from woe, and promised man both unending peace immortality.

At the beginning of all things, spoke the Light to the void, 'unfold'!
And lo, did the Unending Eye open, and all darkness burned away.
All that endures within this Light is as Gold.
That is Immortal, cast in amber radiance.
For memory is the purest form of being.
And I shall know all that is Good for all of time.

    The Facade Collapses

June 24th, 1423 - 9:30 PM - The DII office in Pinilaca, Pestalpa.
It had been more than a month since the case had flared back up again, and with the investigation seemingly having stalled, clearly at the point of going nowhere and most ryxtylopians starting to accept the fact they wouldn't be able to take retribution for those responsible for stealing their tax money, for those on the top it seemed like the whole situation was at an end.
The situation on the streets had calmed down, while it had taken a while, most police officers didn't question the authority of the police department, and the protesters lost motivation after 2-3 weeks. But, while the police had remained united, the DII was tearing itself apart as many had already been skeptical of Pincalo for some time after he had gotten the appointment as director of the department, and his rivals in the DII, people who would've liked to see the position go to themselves continued searching for files, out of theese the most important was probably Julio Xivas, another relativley high ranked member of the DII who expected to be elevated to director status, as he had more experience than Pincalo, but soon enough found himself in an obscure part of the department in Saxa'atí, seemingly cast away from power.
He had been relentlessly trying to get back to manage affairs in his original post in his home state of Cantríxa but found himself with little success, so he tried gathering support from the people in other parts of the DII to look further into Pincalos actions, originally in an attempt to discredit him, but soon enough to keep track of his suspect acts.

In the end the divide in the DII is what would doom Pincalo, as soon, ignoring the central authority in Ryxenia, some of the employees in the Pestalpan DII found incriminating documents, listing a "Possible redirecting of funds" from the '22 program to another department, this wasn't the only inconsistency found as several other documents listing the "Redirecting of funds" from departments and offices were found, in total 10 billion Ryxes (over 900 million dollars for reference) with more possibly having been "redirected"
Soon enough theese documents were photographed and copied, soon sent to Julio, whom having discovered a gold mine of material to use against his opponents, determined to see Pincalo fall, headed to the press and published the documents.

It wouldn't only be a matter of time before the people were fully notified but as the headlines went out, but Pincalo soon found out.

June 24th, 1423 - 9:55 PM - Head Office of the Department of Internal Investigation, Ryxenia.
Pincalo was about to leave the DII office in Pestalpa, when he soon got a message from one of his piers informing him about any developments, it read:
Pincalo, we got a severe situation in our hands, several documents where published by the Libres' and uhh, its not good.
After he was sent a link, Pincalo was horrified at what he saw, documents he thought wouldn't be found, he had already been challanged by lower ranking members of the DII but didn't expect something like this to happen, soon something short of panic set in, as he inmediatley called his "loyal" companion most trusted ally in the DII: Andreís.

"Come on... answer, ANSWER! YOU IDIOT! ANSWER!"
After a few seconds of screaming at the phone Andreís would answer.
"Hello? Im busy eating dinner right no-"
"ANDREÍS! Thank god, we got a SEVERE SITUATION, i need you to inform everybody else, we'll get sleep and hopefully come up with a plan by dawn, QUICKLY!"
    "What happened?"
"Some of the Pestalpan DII documents got lea- you know what, just hurry up!"
"What? What?!" Replied Pincalo, very confused.
"Ill just send you the link to the article, you must inform everybody else RIGHT NOW, understood?!"
"Y-Yes i guess, ill do it right after this call..."
"Good, hope to see you soon, we'll need to talk..." Said Pincalo in a calmer tone before hanging up and then grabbing his hair, still visibly stressed.

"God... what will i do now..."

Iqbal, an ordinary man with a very simple life, lives in a rented house on the outskirts of Kota Kemunting. He only works as a waiter in a fast food restaurant. However, today is a big day for him. The alarm clock showed 9:00 in the morning, "oh, I woke up an hour late! I have to hurry!" He then quickly got ready, then put on a batik shirt specially ordered for the day, and put on the traditional shemagh on his head.
Meanwhile at Arifiyyah Royal Palace, a car branded AA Perdana is already available in front of the palace building. "Are you sure the man can be trusted to bring the flag to the ceremony? Why don't you ask the army or the police to guard it? Or my lord yourself?" Tok Mat, a personal assistant and holder of the Sultan's stamp, doubted the man. "Of course I believe in him. He is the most worthy to carry the flag, because he designed it," said the Sultan. Let's go to Pahlawan Stadium now, don't let the people wait too long,He continued.
The journey from Kota Kemunting to Medina Arif city center takes about 30 minutes. However, the motorcycle that Iqbal was riding suddenly stopped. He picked up the motor then checked every part. "How can my tire leak? When did it step on a sharp object? I haven't seen a vehicle on this highway. The petrol station is far away", Iqbal complained. He sat by his motorbike while tightly hugging a box containing the new flag of his country. The clock showed 9.25am, he had already promised the Sultan that he would be at Pahlawan Stadium at exactly 10am. After almost 20 minutes of waiting, a military truck was seen approaching him and stopped. "What's your problem?" asked the driver. "My motorcycle tire suddenly went flat, I don't have a spare tire. I need to go to Pahlawan Stadium", said Iqbal. Luckily the truck happened to be on its way to Pahlawan Square. Then, the soldiers in the lorry helped Iqbal lift his motorcycle into the lorry, then Iqbal rode the lorry to Pahlawan Stadium.

Sultan Arif arrived at the Pahlawan stadium at exactly 9.50 in the morning, it looked like many people from Arifiyyah had already arrived there. "How many people do you think are here now?" "According to the secretariat, the stadium is already full of 60,000 visitors, mixed with outside attendees, maybe 80,000 attendees." Sultan Arif and Tok Mat chit-chatting while walking toward the VIP stage. United Adaikes Ambassador to Arifiyyah, Mia Bourke and Consul General Banda Baru, Ladislao Barton were also present at the event. "Welcome Mrs. Bourke and Mr. Barton, thank you for coming. Give my regards to Mr. President." Sultan welcomes his guests. "Thank you Your Honour, we hope this will further improve bilateral relations between our countries, said Mia Bourke with a smile. It was exactly 10am, but there was still no sign of Iqbal at the Pahlawan stadium. "I had doubts from the beginning about the young man," said Tok Mat.
Suddenly,a group of soldiers marched into the stadium, with a man carrying a bix in the middle. The soldiers then make a path for Iqbal towards the stage. Iqbal nervously bring the box to the Sultan. "Apologies,Your Honour. I'm five minutes late." "Don't worry,at least you arrived",said Sultan with a small laugh. Then, Sultan Arif walk towards the 30 meter height pole. He open the box then tied up the flag with the help of few soldiers. After that, the flag was raised accompanied by Arifiyyah's national anthem, Majulah Negaraku
Sultan Arif now ready for the speech.
"Greetings,All Arifians! On this day, we all witnessed a historic event, the exchange of national flags Arifiyyah Darul Fikr. All of you, whether in the audience at Mahoun Stadium or watching on gadgets at home, are witnesses. This exchange of flags is in line with my desire to set new goals for the country and the King, which is to build a developed and fair empire for all, build the people's nationalistic spirit and identity, and govern the country with excellence. This change of flag is not because I don't like the old flag, nor do I have a grudge against my ancestors, but I want a better change in the country. Taking into account the issue of national identity that is fading among the people, beta took steps to change the flag as a first step, and will be followed up with policies for later. This flag will be the symbol of the unity of the people of Arifiyyah under my auspices, from all eight states in Arifiyyah. Unite my people!" Thank you. The passionate speech was met with thousands of claps and cheers.

    Esferos Lore Introduction

Current map version 1.18, updated 1 April 2024
Esferos Topographic Map | Biome Map | Tectonic Map | Wind & Sea Map
    TABLE OF CONTENTS:
Welcome to the map! Where can I RP? A brief "Session Zero" for TWP Roleplay Esferos lore introduction Welcome to Esferos!
The center of roleplay in TWP is the map of our world, Esferos. Our canon is tied to the map and our stories are built by our community—whether you're into nation building, international affairs, or rootin' tootin' cowboys, you'll find something that grips you here. There's no telling how deep you'll go!
Citizens of The West Pacific can request a place on the map to develop a history, culture, and people for their nation. While collaborating with others, you will create roleplay like factbooks, news, stories, or sports—essentially, whatever you want to do with your nation within reason. The current RP year is 1422 AF, this translates to modern-day Earth. Most technologies are also roughly equivalent to the modern day.
Before we get too into things, if you have any questions, you may address them to one of the Lorekeepers on the TWP Roleplay Discord server.
To join the world of Esferos you must be a citizen of TWP, read the rest of this Guide, introduce yourself on the RP Discord server, and submit your Mapplication™ in the Mapplication™ thread.
We very strongly encourage you to join RP Discord server before you submit your Mapplication™. Ideally, we want everyone to have the opportunity to get to know the different regions of Esferos (geographically and culturally) and see who is active there so you can decide which area is the right fit for you, as opposed to throwing a dart at the map.
    Where can I roleplay?
TWP's two roleplay locations are the regional forums and the TWP Roleplay discord. However, these two places have different uses.
    TWP Forums
TWP's forums are the official home of TWP's roleplaying—there are four roleplay subforums available for use:
Atlas of the Occident - Map and Factbook - Home of the regional map and forum-based factbooks of the nations that reside in it. The Repository - Local & World News - The place to post newswires about the goings on in and around your nation. Roleplay - How the West Was Won - The general RP subforum. If you have an IC roleplay thread to post, it belongs here. OOC Support - Information & Dispute Arbitration - The place where OOC threads belong and where disputes can be resolved. And of course the RP Archive, which is, as you guessed, where really old clutter goes.
    RP Discord
The TWP Roleplay Discord server is the home of OOC discussion and worldbuilding. Its activities include nation building, arts and crafts, regional planning, and all sorts of other things, but it is not the place for in-character (IC) talk. It is also not a gameplay or foreign affairs Discord, nor a substitute for the general chat and spam functions of main TWP server.
You can find an overview of the server's rules, roles, and channels and links to helpful resources in the #welcome-info channel.
    Roleplay Resources
Official Resources Big Book of Numbers - This contains the core statistics and basic information for all nations on the map, including capitals, land area, population, languages, and much more. The information you provide in your Mapplication™ will go in the Book, and you can comment on cells to add further information. Session Zero Guidance - This guidance forms the basis of our shared world. No one is allowed to go against the guidelines set in the Guidance. Unofficial Resources Language Table - This spreadsheet contains the names of all Esferosi nations in the different languages of Esferos. Maintained by Giovanniland, based on the spreadsheet begun by Kurabis Legal System Questionnaire / Comparison - Prompts to explore the way your nation's society is constructed through its legal system  Nation Building Exercise - A useful exercise for exploring balance in nationbuilding. A brief "Session Zero" for TWP Roleplay
The term "Session Zero" comes from tabletop roleplaying games, in which before a campaign starts, the game master sits down with the players to introduce the setting, set boundaries, and clarify expectations for the coming games. For our uses, it refers to the most basic rules and customs you need to know before starting to build your nation on Esferos.
When in doubt or in need of help/guidance, ask the Lorekeepers. They are all experienced in subjects related to wordbuilding such as history, military studies, archaeology, anthropology, and political and international studies. They also guide the balance, quality, and realism of our shared world, and may take action to enforce it.
    Balance
An overriding goal of TWP Roleplay is balance—this means everything good comes with drawbacks. No nation can be good at everything, just as no nation can be bad at everything. You cannot “win” the RP spreadsheet
Your goal should not be to have the highest number on a sheet. Having a high population, a high GDP per capita, or high military spending each have their own drawbacks. It is a balance. Realism
Technological realism: Existing technologies with widespread implementation, such as cell phones or helicopters, are fair play. Advanced technologies with limited or experimental implementation, such as fully autonomous vehicle fleets or advanced laser weapons systems, are guided by balance: if a real-life analogue nation has access to a technology, then you may attempt to justify that access by defining the balance. Historical realism: Real-life religions and languages do not exist on Esferos. Similarly, you cannot use RL religious symbols in your IC religion. You may reference them as inspiration or ‘flavour’ out-of-character. Using similar inspirations to other nations does not mean your nation must be related to them. Your nation didn't always exist in its current form. People probably lived there for thousands of years, but much of it was in a very different form to modern life. It's unlikely that the exact same political entity that exists today existed hundreds of years ago. Ancient developments should follow a timescale with reference or similarity to the real world. If you are interested in exploring the ancient history of your region of Esferos, you should look into real-world societal developments for similar regions and timespans on Earth. Modern developments should also reference the real world. For example, the ‘Industrial Revolution' was a process which unfolded at different scales and speeds around the world from 1760 to today. International relations don't have to be cordial, and your nation can have been friendly and have histories with countries it isn't friendly with today. Miscellaneous realism: Just as RL religions and languages don’t exist here, RL places don’t exist either. Do not name your nation, cities, and other things after prominent RL places like “Shanghai”. Exceptions are common given names like “Georgetown”. If you need help coming up with names, ask in the Discord or check out a random name generator. There is no magic. That doesn’t mean people can’t believe something is miraculous or magical, but you cannot state as an OOC fact that it is. You should make distinctions between historical, semi-legendary, and legendary events and figures. Just because something is not an OOC fact does not mean that it cannot be believed to be fact IC. The laws of physics are the same as we understand them in the real world. They cannot be manipulated or exploited in any extraordinary way. Humans are the only available species to roleplay as. The current year is not the beginning of your nation’s story
We recommend avoiding the propensity to make big events happen in the current year; you should roleplay past events or allow them to be a historical fact. Just because you weren’t playing your nation before does not mean it didn’t exist or have relationships. Talk to your neighbours and define your historical relationships with them, it’s all part of the fun! War is difficult, messy, and detailed
There is no total victory. You should find some drawback or disadvantage to your activity—there’s no fun in always winning all the time. Just because you have a large army and say military spending is 50% of your GDP doesn’t mean you win. Be tactful and realistic; look to real life examples and ask the Lorekeepers for help if you need it. Yes, North Korea is a “real life example” but their level of expenditure is an extreme outlier and comes at great cost. Border changes will not happen without Loremaster approval. This would be dependent on quality and content of roleplay. Remember that matters of war and military are subject to oversight by the Lorekeepers for balance and realism purposes. You are not a “recently discovered tribe”, and avoiding other common tropes
There are no “undiscovered” nations on Esferos, just as there are none on Earth. If your nation is “opening up diplomatic and foreign relationships after a long period of isolationism” you are not going to be up to the modern standard of life or technology. Continents are not “Teams”
The Continental Congresses don't have meaning beyond out-of-character (OOC) planning. There is no IC organization called a "Continental Congress". In the Continental Congress channels, we come together to plan histories, geography, and other things that affect our neighbors, but the goal isn't one continent-spanning intergovernmental organization. Avoid treating continents as teams. A few community rules
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Worldbuilding and RP can be daunting, but you’re not alone—we’re a community.  Roleplay is multilateral, which means every party has to agree—you only participate in ways you agree to. If any issues arise, please let one of the moderators know. Along with this is zero tolerance for hate imagery or masked clones or iterations of nations like Nazi Germany. This section is adapted from the TWP RP20 Guidance and Rebalancing, which includes a slightly more in-depth version of the Session Zero.
    Esferos lore introduction
    Geography
Our planet is called Esferos, a medium-sized terrestrial world orbiting a gas giant around a binary star, and is the only astronomical object known to support life. Its surface covered mostly by oceans, with a handful of major continents and numerous smaller island chains.
The five continents of Esferos are Andolia, Aura, Doll Guldur, Nur, and Polaris.
Andolia is located in the southern hemisphere — a land of broad grasslands and forests in the east, mountainous shores in the west, and deserts and rainforests in between. Andolia also has the most active volcanos of any continent. Aura is regarded by some as the historical center of Esferos — much of the southern part of the continent is tropical, covered in lush rainforests and fertile plains, while the north is much more arid and contains the world's largest desert. Doll Guldur is a rugged land in the northeast of the region — its terrain is made up of great plains and wide forests, with shattered mountain chains along the eastern coasts. Doll Guldur also contains the world's largest endorheic basin. Nur is located far to the east the other continents — its surface is covered by plains and rainforests in the north to mountains, temperate forests, and steppe in the south. Nur is the largest and least densely populated continent of Esferos. Polaris is located in the far north — it is a land of great forests and greater mountains in the west, grasslands and hills in the east, and desert in the center and south. It is also home to the largest freshwater lake in the world. Miscellanea
Most of Esferos uses the Markan calendar system, which counts time from the founding of the Holy Principality of Saint Mark. One properly counts time using the BF and AF suffixes, short for "Before Founding" and "After Founding". The current year is 1424 AF. You can easily translate between the Markan and Gregorian calendar by taking the year in the Gregorian calendar and subtracting 600. For instance, 1900 CE in our time is the same as 1300 AF in roleplay time (1900-600=1300). The international language of Esferos is called 'Common'—it originated as a trade pidgin among sailors in the Darkesian Sea and spread from there. Out of character, most players use English to approximate it, but it is not related to English in-character. Esferos is a multipolar world—no single power international power has the strength to dominate the others.

Head of State/Government: The Infinite Emperor

    Land Area: 790,977km2

    Population Density: 19.8/km2

The Infinite Empire of Aukera (Astintzen: Am Lòkhà Nha sho Auken Rà), known colloquially as Aukera, is a large nation situated off the Northern coast of Nur. Aukera is comprised of a main island, eponymously named, with over 400 inhabited islands within the greater Imperial Archipelago. Aukera is surrounded by the Shining Sea, with its nearest neighbour being Kalmach to the Southwest. The country is divided into 26 traditional regions, with 64 administrative cantons.
Archaeloigical evidence suggests Aukera has been inhabited since the Upper Paleolothic period (roughly 41,000 BF), with the first written reference to its people dating to the 1800 BF oracle stones. Between 600 and 500 BF, the Northern span of the island was unified by a single polity under the auspices of the Infinite Emperor. This event (dated by the imperial state to 534 BF) marks the year 0 of the Most Holy Imperial Calendar, and the foundation of the modern Aukeran state.
The fledgling state maintained claims over the entirety of the island since its inception, but was routinely engaged in civil wars, internal coups, and defense against outside influence to prevent the true suppression of other local kingdoms to the South and East. Beginning in the mid 7th century (the 1100s by the Aukeran Calendar), a series of conflicts and tensions with their Southern neighbours culminated in the true unification of the archipelago and the true birth of the Infinite Empire as it is now known.
The last reforms to the governmental apparatus came about in the twelfth century, where a series of populist revolts saw concessions from the imperial government and the introduction of a written charter to outline the scope of its power.

    The Kalmachian Government

Prime Minister Willsen Hessen is seen in an office, with a big Kalmachian flag in the background.
"As the war keeps drawing on, we feel that we need to publish a statement about what is currently happening in Kalmach and in Garahun. Many have expressed concern about the invasion, and what it entailed, as we had remained secretive about the plan up until its execution. We will clear some stuff up."
The prime minister shuffles in his papers a bit.
"We did not launch this war in order to make land grabs but believe that the Garahunnic government is incapable of properly protecting its citizens. The execution of peaceful protesters in Southern Hallessekratamia is proof enough of this. Before the invasion, we even tried to give a secret ultimatum, however, the Garahunnic did not listen. We never received an answer from any official representing Garahun, so we decided to launch the invasion.
After the second Kalmachian civil war, they forced Kalmachians out of their cities in order to put in their own Garahunnic peoples and replace them. The ultimatum of 1345 was a blatant attempt by Garahun to expand their empire. Taking advantage of a weakened Kalmach during it's infighting is the worst of the worst one can do.
Some have shown concern about the potential for human rights violations in the war. We will ensure that doesn't happen. We promise the protection of every single ethnicity in the area we occupy, in contrast to the Garahunnic. From the Oodwanese to the Garahunnic, we will treat them all the same as citizens of Kalmach. We also want to announce that we have no intention of controlling any ethnically garahunnic land. The eastern push was simply something that was needed in order to maintain the frontline. It was purely strategic, and we have no plans to advance in the east. However, we will continue to do whatever is necessary in order to protect the Kratans and the Oodwanese in the south.
We wish for peace, but we also wish for change. Therefore, The United Nations of Kalmach has demands. The Garahunnic has 2 options. One is to help us set up an independent state in the areas compromising the ethnically Kalmash and Oodwanese areas, with minor territorial concessions in Southern Hallessekratamia. Another is to let Kalmach have complete control over the ethnically Kratan areas of Garahun. We have had enough of the barbaric oppression of all the ethnic groups of the Garahunnic Prince-Bishophric."
The Prime Minister looks up from his papers and into the camera.
"Lat gudd váre met ós. Held kjunn till Kálmach"
