Fourth time’s the charm (Matchday 4)
In a well-lit studio, news anchor Anna Čea wraps up the previous scheduled segment.
Anna Čea: ... and now, moving onto the sports segment. We're tuning in with our correspondent Juli Orini live from Ryxtylopia. Hello, Juli!
A big screen behind Čea changes graphics and shows news correspondent Juli Orini.
Juli Orini: Hello, Anna! And hello to all Fùtbol fans tuning in right now!
Anna Čea: So, what have the Činni been up to?
Juli Orini: Things are looking up for them, as today the National Team earned its first three points! After drawing two matches against Larxia and Alchera, and losing one to Overthinkers, the Činni have won their match against fellow Nurans, Kalmach. I’m joined by head coach Jan Košis to comment on the team’s performance.
The TV feed is now focused on Juli Orini, found just outside of the football pitch, next to Košis. In the background, several fans sitting in the stands are waving familiar Nuran flags, and a couple of bright red flares fill the air.
A small graphic detailing the outcome of the match is seen under Orini and Košis.

Jan Košis: Hello everyone, glad to be here.
Juli Orini: The team seems to have finally broken the deadlock, so to speak, as 75% of Rivalfiume’s overall goals came all from this match.
Jan Košis: Indeed. We’ve been working very hard on goalscoring, especially from “golden occasions” such as set pieces, and it’s working.
Juli Orini: Today is a perfect example of that: let’s talk about Čentini’s absolute screamer! What a debut for him!
Jan Košis: Ah, that was a well worked goal! Super-Substitute Čentini scored a beautiful goal in the first half from a free kick, rocketing the ball in the top corner in the 2nd minute of added time.
Juli Orini: Well, the goal was absolutely stunning, but not-so-stunning was the reason the free kick was given. Is Anečeti going to recover quickly?
Jan Košis: I’m afraid that Anečeti is going to miss some games, as he’s been badly clattered by an opposition player. To be honest, I’m quite shocked that the player wasn’t sent off with a straight red.
Juli Orini: Let’s hope that he recovers soon...
Despite Kalmach getting a goal back in the 50th minute, the Team didn’t let us down and scored two of their own. What a relief!
Jan Košis: It’s nice to see that the players weren’t let down by the temporary draw and were willing to fight until the end. I’m super proud of them and their superb teamwork.
Juli Orini: Looking at the next fixtures, Rivalfiume is going to face Ryxtylopia, the hosts themselves, who are in a good run of form and have already qualified to the knock-out stages. What’s the plan?
Jan Košis: We have to defend our points advantage as much as we can. Both Alchera and Kalmach have to face tough opposition, like us, and if we lose against Ryxtylopia and they win, it would go down to goal difference. That’s why, if we secure a draw, we would mathematically qualify for the rounds of 16. That’s the plan. As for the formation, some changes have to be made due to injuries or recent fatigue.
A graphic is shown, titled "Most probable formation, according to analysts".

Juli Orini: Thank you for your time, coach. Good luck for the next game, let’s hope for a favorable result!
    Jan Košis: Thank you, Juli!
Juli Orini: Fluvians watching at home, don’t forget to tune in next time, as the next match potentially decides whether the Činni make it out of the group stages for the first time ever. Thank you for watching!
The TV switches back to the studio, as Anna Čea begins the weather segment.
Anna Čea: As for the weather, there’s a high chance of showers in all of the Estre Nort department…

Pixel3K got a reaction from Fujai in World Cup of Football III [rosters, roleplays, results]
Mussa was startled by a sudden noise and opened one of his eyes. As he turned the lights on, the faint whirring of a lightbulb echoed throughout the room.
How long had he slept since he got back to the hotel room? Mussa quickly looked left and right, as if the walls could answer his question. The last days of training had been very demanding, and the long flight had not been kind to him, as he still had to recover fully.
He slowly got out of his bed and looked out of the window. Ryxenia’s bright city lights cut through the dark sky, as if they were a sea of artificial stars. Mussa had never traveled so far away in his life. He was used to living in his native town, small even by fluvian standards. Instead, the Ryxtylopian Capital seemed to stretch endlessly, and he struggled to visualize the sheer size of it. “A single city that contains almost all citizens of Rivalfiume,” he thought to himself.
But Mussa’s thoughts were cut short by a faint siren noise, as several police lights briefly lit up the distant city streets, painting them bright blue. Mussa followed the police lights with his eyes, until they disappeared behind a large building. It seemed like a lot of police was required. He didn't think too much of it.

"Besides, it's such a huge city..."

Mussa admired the city landscape one more time before turning to his bed. “Sleeping will help me recover and stay sharp for the oncoming matches.” he thought, before shutting off the lights.

Sekiya vs United Adaikes match review
[Translated from Sekiyan to Common for simplicity]
[Transcript begins at the end of the weather segment]
Chen Jie: “Now, shifting to weather in the south, we have some concerning reports from the south. Today marks the third consecutive day of heavy rain in the Anzhou region, leading to flooding in some areas. Local authorities have issued evacuations in affected regions, and there are reports of delays on public transport due to the inclement weather. We urge everyone to stay safe and follow official guidelines during these challenging conditions.”
Li Wei: "Thank you for that update on the weather, Chen. Now, for tonights most anticipated news, lets head over to Ryxtylopia for the latest news on the football match between Sekiya and United Adaikes!”
[Screen changes to 3 Sekiyan reporters in Ryxtylopia]
Li Mei Ling (in Ryxtylopia): "Greetings from Ryxtylopia! I'm Li Mei Ling, and what a thrilling match it was between Sekiya and United Adaikes. The energy here is palpable. Despite a hard-fought game, Sekiya sadly came up short, losing 0-1 to United Adaikes."
Tang Lei (in Ryxtylopia): "That's right, Mei Ling. It was a nail-biter until the end. I have to give credits to Zhang Wei, who displayed remarkable resilience and made some incredible saves. Truly an impressive performance."
Chen Xin Yang (in Ryxtylopia): "Absolutely, Wei Hong. The Sekiyan defense held strong for most of the match. But, in the first half, Raelyn Weston of United Adaikes managed to break through with a goal, securing the victory for her team."
Li Mei Ling (in Ryxtylopia): "And what a goal it was! Adaikes’ skill on the field was undeniable. It's moments like these that make the World Cup so unforgettable. The Sekiyan fans, both here and at home, though disappointed, are still showing immense support for their team."

Sekiyans watching the game live in Xingyuan.
Tang Lei (in Ryxtylopia): "No doubt, Mei Ling. Raelyn Weston's goal showcased the level of talent we've come to expect at this stage of the tournament. But let's not overlook Zhang Wei contribution, keeping the scoreline tight and the fans on the edge of their seats."
Chen Xin Yang (in Ryxtylopia): "Absolutely, Wei Hong. The goalkeeper's performance was commendable, making some crucial saves that could have easily tilted the game in Sekiya's favor. Despite the loss, Sekiya can hold their heads high after such a spirited effort."
Li Mei Ling (in Ryxtylopia): "The Sekiyan players are receiving a warm reception from their fans here in Ryxtylopia. It's a testament to the sportsmanship and dedication they've shown on the field. Reporting live from the World Cup, back to you in the studio!"
    [Cut back to the studio.]
Li Wei: "Thank you for that exciting football update from Ryxtylopia. Now, let's talk about something closer to home. Chen, have you used public transport recently?"
Chen Jie: "It’s how I got here this morning! Public transport is such a vital part of our daily lives, connecting people across the city. How about you?"
Li Wei: "Well, it's been a while for me, but it's great to hear about your firsthand experience. Now, speaking of public transport, there's some exciting news for commuters here in the Capital. A few new buses and trains have been introduced, and what's interesting is that they come with unique paint jobs showing support for the Sekiyan team."
Chen Jie: "That sounds like a fun way to engage the community! How do these paint jobs show support for the team?"

The designs for trains and busses.
Li Wei: "Exactly! The buses and trains are adorned with the team's colours, creating a vibrant display of team spirit as they travel through the city. It's a creative initiative to connect the local sports scene with everyday life. The transportation authorities hope it not only fosters a sense of community pride but also encourages more people to use public transport."
Chen Jie: "That's a clever idea. It's always refreshing to see new innovative ways to bring people together. I can imagine the excitement of fans spotting these specially designed vehicles around Changjing."
Li Wei: "Absolutely! It adds a splash of colour to the daily commute and builds a sense of camaraderie among residents. It's a win-win – supporting the local team and enhancing the public transport experience. Now, let's see how this initiative unfolds and whether it becomes a trend in other cities as well."
Chen Jie: "Before we move on to our next segment, let's take a quick break. But don't go away because we've got something special for you. Stay tuned!"
    [Commercial Break]
Person One: "Man, it's scorching out here!"
Person Two: "Tell me about it. I wish there was something to cool us down."
[As they continue walking, they spot a vending machine in the distance.]
Person One: "Hey, look over there! Let's see what they have."
[They approach the vending machine, and Alex spots a new orange juice drink.]
Person One: "This looks refreshing. Wanna give it a try?"
Person Two: "Why not? If it's good enough for our team, it's perfect for us!"
[Person One inserts coins into the machine, and two bottles of the orange juice drink drop down.]
    Person One: "Here you go!"
[They open the bottles, take a sip, and both their faces light up.]
Person Two: "Wow, this is exactly what we needed!"
Person One: "So crisp and refreshing. Perfect for a hot day like this."

The United Peourouin Sports Authority represented Nuran's Peourouin at the Istadio Gral. Tavara Diparti against Polaris' Cambria (KCM-APR).
The team is spearheaded with Head Coach Nikolas Saprots, the leading coach of the University of Fradif's Division Football team. His experience on the field made his candidacy for the role second to none.
The team is comprised of all new drafts from FC from reknown FC throughout the country, some of whom are fresh collegiate athletes from their respective academic institutions (* indicates collegiate athlete, ! indicates reserve). The field was a 4-2-4 formation, a standard with Coach Saprots' teams.

Below is the kit the team sported earlier.
Starting the match, the Cambrian team scored 2 points five minutes apart at 10' and 15', laying out the opponent's grip on the Peouroun team. Both teams kept tossing the ball between themselves and the goalkeepers, Cambria evidently going on attack more often causing Peourouin to rely on its considerably stacked defense. Peourouin then at 30' threaded the needle with Nortssk's quick and precise kick to Hass through the tight Cambrian defense. The ball went too far for the goalkeeper to deflect it, making the score KCM 2-1 APR by half-time.
Resuming for the second half, the break did wonders for the Peourouns. They were light on their feet and worked the Cambrians down for everything they had. Hopping away at 52' with a wide-open pass from Zelehvy to Ussrsaii. Cambria gained back its lead at 74' with a clean shot. Peourouin fought hard minute by minute, and their efforts yielded another goal at 89', closing the gap between them. The match ended KCM 4-3 APR, the most goals in a match.
Peourouin ends with -1 in Group B after MD1, but a fighting -1. For MD2, Peourouin will be up against Teralyon. Teralyon, who was absent for the previous World Cup, has returned this year. The team is taking an ice bath, preparing for the match tomorrow, November 19. 1423 has been a year of interest, tomorrow is something you should not miss.

Prime Minister Olaysiy Udemmiena travels to Ryxtylopia along with the United Peourouin Sports Authority for the inaugural presense of Peourouin at the World Cup of Football III
    Joukin Aksprata, Auran Correspondent
Despite the protests in Ryxtylopia, PM Olaysiy Udemmiena has proceeded to travel to Vynitiná to observe Peourouin's first appearance at a World Cup of Football (WCF).
PM Udemmiena trip has apparently been approved for international travel by President Humatiy, however, many have heeded the lady PM to be vigilant in areas of conflict.
One subscriber to PT stated, "The PM should be protected, and she should be wary about her whereabouts. I know that our security detail will inform her of any suspected target on her, but it shakes me to my core to have such an important figure in Peouroun politics fall victim in foreign hands."
The consensus of the nation is troubling, but the PM stands firm in the undermining eyes of many. President Humatiy has sent regards to her and the Peouroun team. He stated in a quick soundbite, he would be watching the performance. "We must show the world that we are not an easy opponent, but we will work towards the top on the field or through pen on paper.

FSTV 3 - The Way to Health
[Opening scene: A well-lit studio with the host sitting at a desk adorned with various health-related props. The camera zooms in as the host begins speaking.]
Dr. Gerasim Orlov, Host: Welcome, dear viewers, to another episode of "The Way of Health". I'm Dr. Orlov. Later on in the show we'll be discussing the negative mental and physical effects of consuming foreign media, especially "anime" from places like Zoran, but first...
[An ominous looking fungus appears in the corner of the screen.]
Dr. Orlov: ...we're going to address a growing concern in our community - a dangerous street drug known as "fun-gi", "devil spore", or "brain rock". This substance has been making its way through our streets, and it is crucial that we shed light on its potential risks. What makes this substance particularly alarming is its origin, as it is believed to have originated in the backwards society of Varanius, and both its original form and a synthetic form has been used by young people going to parties and clubs, particularly in Saint Andreisburg.
[Cut to video of a party club scene while Dr. Orlov continues to speak.]
Dr. Orlov: The Office of the Surgeon General notes that after its introduction via smuggling into the Free State during the Rugby World Cup, a synthetic form has been developed in clandestine laboratories in hostile-class regions of Yugodalia and then bought by innocent Dalimbari youth, thinking it is just a harmless party substance. They take it before and while in a club, but its effects can be both unpredictable and perilous. Users seem to experience hallucinations, altered perceptions of reality, and intense mood swings.
    [Cut back to the studio.]
Dr. Orlov: The concerning part about "fun-gi" or "devil spore" is that its production methods are entirely unregulated, leading to variations in its chemical composition. This makes it extremely difficult to predict how an individual may react to the drug. Reports of adverse reactions, including seizures, anxiety attacks, "skin crawl", and even cases of overdose, have been on the rise.
[Transition to a pre-recorded interview with a recovering addict.]
Former User: I started using "fun-gi" at parties, thinking it was just a bit of fun. It made me feel really good for a while, like I was on my own Path! But soon, I found myself unable to control the impact it had on my life. I was spending more and more on this junk, just to try to feel the same way I did the first time I tried it. It took a toll on my physical and mental health, and I knew I needed to seek help. I really had strayed from the Path.
    [Cut back to the host.]
Dr. Orlov: It's stories like these that emphasize the importance of being informed and vigilant. If you suspect someone you know might be using "fun-gi" or any other unknown substances, encourage them to seek help. We can not lose any Dalimbari from the Path. Addiction is a serious issue, and professional support can make all the difference.
[Contact information for local treatment centres appears on the screen.]
Dr. Orlov: Remember, your health is your most valuable asset. Don't waste the life your ancestors gave you. Stay vigilant and stay on the Path. Up next, our panel will be discussing the dangers of foreign media. You won't want to miss it.
[The screen changes to a commercial on the latest tractor.]

Pixel3K reacted to Federation of Inner Ryxtylopia in World Cup of Football III [rosters, roleplays, results]
    The Dark

After the first few days since the tournament started, the protests that had marked the day before the start and the ones that happened on the first day had calmed down, as since the tournament had already started there wasn’t much point in protesting especially considering the police response was a bit harsh (by ryxtylopian standards).
No domestic media outlet had reported on the protests yet, only passing it off as “minor unrest in Ryxenia” and this unrest had only spread to a few other cities, were riots hadn’t happened.

However it wasn’t all sunshine and roses, many media outlets had been speculated of taking bribes not to report on the situation, or in some cases, been intimidated to not report on the situation by the police and internal security apparatus, the police in Ryxtylopia is widley hated, and so any story about it usually reaches front pages in local news, due to this the government had acted preemptively to stop any stories from going through, at least domestically.
On the international stage it was a different story however, many foreigners had taken notice of the unrest with some even wandering off into it, which was not good in terms of the image of the nation, due to this the police often did their best, or rather worst when it came to intimidating foreign press to not go into the slums and report about the unrest, at least while containment efforts were still ongoing.
4 Well-known reporters in Ryxtylopia had gone missing in the week during and leading up to the tournament:
    Taxia Divas
    Isadro Guivarra
    Arturo Dipartí
    Rascanda Ivarradí
As well as this around another 50 to a possible 89 lower profile reporters had gone missing, as well as protest leaders, known agitators, union leaders and even low-profile political figures, and innocent people, it wasn't the people going missing that was the problem, it was their profiles, activities they had been involved in, political or social influence and something most of them shared in common was dissaproval of the tournament.

Reporters going missing in Ryxtylopia was nothing new, however 4 of the most well known critics of the government going missing in a short period, people with pretty big influence in the opposition media, that wasn’t a very good sign, and it was just a matter of time before more people took notice of the matter, but with still so many days to go before the tournament ended, the police presence remained the same, and detentions went up by approximatley 50-75% in some areas.
However the tournament had to go on, and efforts to prevent foreign media reporting on the unrest had been sorta successful, as no *MAJOR* stories about the civil rights abuses had made it into the global headlines yet, which was a good thing for an authoritarian, oligarchic country trying to portray itself as a functional democracy on the global stage.

Video shows Noya Priscan and a Quiyakaso Gohalitsve with a black eye in front of the stadium
    Quiyakaso: "Helloooooooo Zoran! I-"
Noya: “Quiyakaso, why do you have a black eye?”
Quiyakaso: “Oh this? Yeah I got it after a Ryxtylopian punched me in the face during a flash mob.”
Noya: “...A flash mob? Really? What is this, 1403?!”
Quiyakaso: “Well, it was a weird flash mob. They were all holding signs and chanting something. So I made myself a sign that said 'I Like Pie' and started chanting that while walking with them.”
Noya: "...Quiyakaso, that was a protest...not a flash mob."
Quiyakaso: “Ooooooooooh, that makes a lot of sense!”
    Noya: [groans] “You think!”
Quiyakaso: "Yeah...and then I walked into the slums. Nice people, some of them. One tried to mug me and I gave her my fake wallet! That's right! I carry a fake wallet on me now for occasions like this!
Noya: ...You did the two things we were told not to do! Get involved with the protests and enter the slums!
Quiyakaso: "Oh come on, Noya! Where's your sense of adventure?"
Noya: "I left it at the hotel room, now let's get back to the actual news report we are supposed to have."
Quiyakaso: "Ok, fiiiiiiiiiine. The Zoranian Thunderbirds won their match 2-1 after clutching victory from the jaws of a tie!"
Noya: ...That's not the expression, Quiyakaso. It wouldn't even work in this situation!
Quiyakaso: Eh, but they get the point. The Zoranian team is going up against Pedandria next at the Par-...Parkui? Parkui Victoria?
Noya: Parque Vittoria. Let's hope our team does well in their next match. I'm Noya Prisc-
Quiyakaso:  Hold on! We're not done yet! We have to go to the slums! Show the country what the true life of a Ryxtylopian is!
Noya: That is not our job! We are here to report on the sporting event! We are not travel journalists!
    Quiyakaso: But adventure!
Noya: NO! I'm not going to let you go off an potentially get killed in the slums!
Quiyakaso: But how about we go get some real tacos instead of tacos that are sold here at more touristy restaurants?
    Noya: ...
Quiyakaso: Eh? Eeeeeeeh? Not a bad idea, huh?
Noya: Ok, one time. We go the slums just. this. once.
Quiyakaso: Yes! I knew I would win you over one day!
That is when a pack of seagulls descend upon Quiyakaso and start attacking him
    Quiyakaso: NOT AGAIN!!!
Noya: sighs Can someone get the bandages?

Pixel3K reacted to Overthinkers in World Cup of Football III [rosters, roleplays, results]
[OOC Context Note: Broadcast the day before Match Day 1.]

Melanie: From SPOT Studios in the heart of Cangham, we bring you the inaugural Football World Cup Preview, presented by Ping AI. I’m Melanie Soft, and I’m joined today by my colleague Weston Hall.
    Weston: Greetings!
Melanie: Over the next two hours, we’re going to be breaking down the minutiae of the third Football World Cup in Ryxtylopia, and how your very own Overthinkers National Team is preparing. But first, let’s start with the basics. Weston, many of our viewers may be new to the World Cup, how would you explain the tournament in simple terms?
Weston: It really is quite simple, Melanie. Twenty-four teams of gladiators have entered the arena seeking the title and international glory. These teams are comprised of the mightiest champions of the countries they respectively represent. In the interest of narrative, these teams must prove themselves against each other in a series of matches before entering the yet-more-competitive knockout stage.
Weston: To prove themselves thus, teams have been assigned to four groups, each more or less evenly matched in skill to one another, but representing a wide range of skill within each group. Teams shall earn favor with the lords of the tourney by winning matches against their group, or a lesser amount of favor by tying. After each team has tested themselves against every other team in the group, the four teams most favored shall enter into the knockout stage.
[Melanie is smiling at the camera, but the pain behind her eyes is obvious.]
Weston: In the knockout stage, the stakes become higher. Each of these battles becomes a do-or-die situation for our gladiators. The victors live to fight another day, the losers will board a plane back home. We proceed from sixteen to eight, then to four, then finally to the last two teams remaining, who shall fight to claim the World Cup trophy.
Melanie: Great! Now, let’s introduce you to what teams are playing. We start with Group A, which includes Overthinkers.
[Graphic of Group A teams appears onscreen.]
Melanie: Notably, this group includes the hosts, Ryxtylopia, but also includes Larxia, one of the top 5 ranked teams in international play. Besides Larxia, the teams in this group are all either unranked or within 5 ranks of one another, meaning that at least on paper, anything can happen in this group.
Weston: Truly, this field was designed to give all a sporting chance, all the better for Overthinkers to improve upon their showing in the last World Cup.
Melanie: For the sake of brevity, I agree.
[Melanie runs through the remaining groups, with occasional interjections by Weston. Notably, Weston is thrilled by the uncertainty over whether Sasha of the Dalimbari team is a bear.]
Melanie: Now, before we go to break, we’ve asked our “special analyst” some questions in advance and gotten some prognostications. Let’s hear from our sponsor, Ping AI. Hey Ping, given the teams listed, who will win the World Cup?
    Ping: Saint Mark.
    Melanie: Interesting! Can you elaborate?
    Ping: Because I said so.
Melanie: Great! We’ll be right back after the break to introduce you fully to your Overthinkers National Team.
    [ad break]
[Coming out of the ad break, a hype video plays. Generic rock song plays as highlights and photos of OT players flash on screen, introducing each member of the starting lineup. It then ends with the Football World Cup graphic.]
Melanie: And we’re back with the Football World Cup Preview, presented by Ping AI. We’re taking a look now at our starting lineup.
[A graphic of the full team roster appears on screen.]
Melanie: Eight of last year’s starting eleven return this year, and two of last year’s reserves are starters this year. Altogether, there’s seven players making their World Cup debut, including Jeri M. Anders, who landed a starting role at forward.
Melanie: To truly get to know these players, let’s talk to someone who has been on the world stage with many of them before. We’re joined in the studio by Ian Reid, who is missing this World Cup due to injury. Ian, I know you’d rather be in Ryx with the team, but welcome to the studio.
    Ian: Pleasure’s all mine, Melanie.
Melanie: So you’ve seen our roster for this year. Anything that immediately catches your eye here?
Ian: I said after our elimination last year that we had all the ingredients for success, but we weren’t prepared to execute. Seeing so many of the same people here, now with World Cup experience, I can only imagine we’re ready to grind.
Ian: I’ll call out Max Hamilton, here, my replacement. He was a reserve last year, got some play time in, but since then he’s really stepped up his game. He would have given me a run for the starting job even if I were healthy. I think he’s every bit as good as Elle and Ryan in the backfield.
Ian: Jeri, too. Even younger than Lukas and fully earned that starting job next to him. I spend some time at Highland this year and really liked what I saw from her and from that whole program. We’ve got some great younger players coming out of these smaller clubs that can only go up from here.
Weston: The youths also stir the hearts of the nation, displaying some spectacular showmanship on the field that deviates from the team’s normal, reserved strategy.
Ian: Yeah, and I’m torn on that, frankly. These younger players try to be flashy, they try to be heroes, and seeing Lukas go off last year only inflated their egos. This is Coach Luigi’s team, he wants you to defend the ball and score safely. Hopefully he can temper some of that recklessness.
Melanie: While the starters have a lot of experience, the reserves are majority newcomers to international play. What do you make of that?
Ian: They’re new to international play, but they’re not new to football. Petra and Stephen have three rings between them. Joy played for a long time at West and is accustomed to the rise and grind that this team plays. If they can shake off the nerves early, they’ll be just fine.
Melanie: Love it. Thanks for joining us today, Ian, and hope you can get back to the pitch soon.
Ian: Myself and my doctors have differing opinions on that. Cheers.
Melanie: Before we go to break, we have another question for our sponsor, Ping AI. Hey Ping, who will be the Overthinkers team MVP this World Cup?
    Ping: Chris Peterson.
Melanie: Chris isn’t playing this year.
    Ping: Chris Peterson.
Melanie: O-kay, stay tuned. After the break, we got a moment with the Overthinking team after they touched down in Ryxenia.
    [ad break]
Weston: Welcome back, dear viewers, to the Football World Cup Preview, presented by the incomparable Ping AI. We’d lose our jobs if we actually used this product at SPOT, but that’s our problem, not yours.
Melanie: Ahem. Yes. Earlier this week, the Overthinkers National Team departed from Cangham International Airport and arrived in Ryxenia, the capital of Ryxtylopia. Once the team got through customs, we caught up with them in transit to their lodgings. Let’s hear now from field correspondent Emily Corral.
Emily [voiceover as B-roll plays]: The Overthinkers National Team has arrived in Ryxenia for the third Football World Cup. The city is warm and vibrant, and the streets are lined with football fans, thrilled to have an event of this significance on their home turf.
[Half of a protest sign comes into frame before the scene abruptly changes.]
Emily [now on-camera]: We’ve gotten exclusive access to the team bus as the team travels to one of Ryxenia’s finest hotels. I’m here standing next to Ray Chang, one of the veterans of this team. Ray, how was your trip?
Ray: It was just fine. We all thought the plane ride was shorter than expected, and when we got off, we were surrounded by some of the finest architecture we had ever seen. Like, completely blown away by how beautiful and grandiose everything was. But it turned out we had actually landed in Saint Mark. Our plane had an instrument issue that needed fixing. So by the time we got here to Ryxenia it was…
[Ambassador von Edelgard peeks out from the seat back behind Ray.]
Ray: ...also pretty great. You can tell there’s a lot of money in this place.
    [von Edelgard recedes.]
Emily: I see. We now have Coach Wendell Luigi right here. Coach, how is the team feeling after the trip?
Coach: They’re ready to roll. It was a pretty smooth trip, despite the interruption. We’re all super locked in and ready to get practicing.
Emily: Now Coach, we haven’t had a chance to talk to you since Lucille Lyons resigned from the team at the last minute and then dropped off the map. Has there been any impact from that on the team?
Coach: I can’t speak from the players, they’re each dealing in their own way. All I have to say on the matter that’s fit for TV is, you picked a fine time to leave us, Lucille. But we were able to get George called up to fill her slot. The kid’s ecstatic—you can tell it’s a dream come true for him. I want to focus on the positivity of that.
Emily: Understood. You guys are playing Alchera in the first match. Are there any particular strategies you have for them?
Coach: Not particularly. They’re a solid team, we’re about evenly matched from what I saw last year. We will go out there and play our game, and make them play our game too. And we’ll adjust from there.
Emily: Larxia is far and away the strongest team in Group A. Do they give you any concern?
Coach: We only have to worry about them once before the knockouts. We’ll try our hardest, but we’re giving our all in every game.
Emily: Thanks for your time, Coach.
    [Cut back to studio.]
Melanie: Thanks, Emily. Now, one more question for our sponsor, Ping AI. Ping, what World Cup team has the potential to be a dark horse this year?
    Ping: Kalmach.
Melanie: Good call! Why is that?
    Ping: Because I said so.

    Tensions Escalate Over Bilyad
By Aldo Spears, International Affairs Correspondent
    November 17, 1423
In a dramatic escalation of regional tensions, two Cambrian fighter jets were dispatched to patrol the skies over the nation of Bilyad, enforcing a controversial no-fly zone. The move has ignited concerns about the potential for further instability in the already volatile region.
The fighter jets, piloted by veteran naval aviatiors, undertook the mission in response to what Cambrian officials claim were repeated violations of the designated airspace by unidentified aircraft. Bilyadi authorities have vehemently denied any wrongdoing, insisting that their airspace remains sovereign and accusing Cambria of unwarranted aggression.
The no-fly zone, established by an international coalition last month, is intended to ensure the safety and security of the region amid growing geopolitical tensions. However, the enforcement of such zones often raises questions about the delicate balance between preserving national sovereignty and preventing potential conflicts.
Captain Reinvald, speaking exclusively to our correspondent from the new multinational base in Ryxtylopia, expressed the gravity of the situation. "Our mission is to uphold the principles of international law and ensure the safety of the region," he stated, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability in the face of escalating tensions.
Captain Reinvald continued, adding, "We are committed to following established protocols and avoiding any unnecessary provocations. Our goal is to ensure that the no-fly zone is respected and that regional peace is maintained."
The international community has been quick to respond to the Cambrian military intervention. Diplomatic channels are buzzing with activity as world leaders and envoys from various nations work tirelessly to defuse the situation. The Astorian Union has called for an emergency session to address the escalating tensions and prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.
Critics argue that the enforcement of a no-fly zone by military means could exacerbate tensions rather than resolve them. The delicate diplomatic dance that follows will undoubtedly shape the future of the region and influence the international community's approach to similar conflicts in the future.
As the world watches with bated breath, the skies over Bilyad remain tense, echoing the uncertainty that grips the region. The actions taken by Cambrian fighter jets represent a pivotal moment, with the potential to either defuse the situation or plunge the region into further turmoil.

Pixel3K reacted to Fujai in World Cup of Football III [rosters, roleplays, results]
    Fujai
Folkskommunarna Fujai (fu:'jaɪ, foo-yEYE) is a small coastal nation of just over 7 million residents, located in the north of the Polari continent. While winter sports and rugby are the most popular in the country, Fujai has a long footballing tradition, beginning near the end of the 14th century, when the game was brought north by the Cambrians.
    The Landslag
The Landslag is made up of the finest players in Fujai, though few would be considered of truly international quality. It is sponsored by Fujais Fotbollforbund (FjFF), a member of Fujais Idrottsforbund (FIF - Sports Federation of Fujai). Most Landslag players come from Fujai's top league, Fyrstserien, though a few come from the second division, Annarserien, and one comes from a university team. While Fujansk clubs are more equal in skill than the average league, the four most dominant teams, the Feme Store, are Solbakken IL and Bruland IF from the capital of Keiserholde, Allmein IL from Rønnøn, GIF Tåkstad from Tåkstad, and Trondsnes FF from Strafsund.
Recently, the Landslag has, against the odds, managed to stay near the upper tier of international footballing in recent years, including fourth place at the Saint-Josalyn Esferiad, fifth place at the 1st WCF, and fifth at the Quoriv-Kharventhin Esferiad. Will they be able to break their streak and finally make a podium appearance? Only time will tell.
    Fujais Idrottsforbund
Fujais Idrottsforbund (FIF) is the federation of labor unions representing all sports players and workers in sports-associated industries. It is separate from the Fujansk government, but receives accreditation and financial and infrastructural support from it. Its structure includes clubs at the local level (e.g. a local sports club), which are constituents of fylke organizations, which are a part of the larger federation representing specific sports (e.g. Fujais Fotbollforbund for football), which are then members of FIF.
    Fujais Fotbollforbund
Fujais Fotbollforbund (FjFF) is the labor union that governs football in Fujai and represents all players, related workers, and clubs in the country. It governs Fujai's league system, consisting of Fyrstserien, Annarserien, Tredjeserien, and the landsdel leagues. Fylke leagues and lower are organized by the the fylke organizations.

    Important Notes (!)
Editor's note on gender: Fujansk culture does not have individual gender categories. The five common genders were historically recognized, though categories and classifications of gender expression have broken down in the last few centuries, resulting in today's non-categorical perception of gender. Since the Fujansk language does not have gendered pronouns, most Fujar choose choose to use gender-neutral pronouns when interacting in the common tongue, such as they/them. All players on the Landslag use they/them pronouns in the common language.
Translator's note: Landslaget translates to "The National Team," while Landslag translates to "National Team." In the common tongue, one would say "the Landslag did well" or "Landslaget did well," not "the Landslaget did well" (the translated equivalent of "the The Landslag did well"). This is because the Fujansk language uses suffixes to create definite nouns instead of articles. See Den Fujanske Ordboken (The Fujansk Dictionary) for more information.

Breaking Barriers: National Football Team Makes History by Welcoming Female Players, Additional Female Staff
In a groundbreaking move, the national football team has shattered longstanding norms by officially including female players in its ranks for the first time. In an announcement by the United Adaikes Football Association (UAFA) Head Myron Lillakis, 14 talented women have joined the squad, marking a significant step forward in gender inclusivity in sports.
This historic decision embraces diversity on the field and extends to the coaching staff, with four accomplished women taking on critical roles in guiding and shaping the team's success.
The inclusion of female players has been met with widespread support as fans and advocates for gender equality celebrate the progressive step taken by the UAFA. The move reflects a broader trend in the sports world towards dismantling gender barriers and providing equal opportunities for athletes, regardless of gender.
The 14 female players selected to represent the nation bring a wealth of talent and skill to the team, challenging traditional notions of football as a male-dominated sport. Their presence on the field is set to inspire aspiring female athletes and pave the way for more opportunities in the future.
The four female staff members, including coaches and support personnel, further demonstrate the commitment to fostering an inclusive environment within the team. Their expertise and leadership will undoubtedly contribute to the team's success, showcasing that gender should never be a barrier to pursuing a career in sports.
As the national football team takes this historic leap forward, it sends a powerful message to the sporting world: talent knows no gender. The integration of female players and staff enriches the team and sets a precedent for other national teams to follow suit, fostering a more equitable and diverse landscape in football.
