  1. Fourth time’s the charm (Matchday 4) In a well-lit studio, news anchor Anna Čea wraps up the previous scheduled segment. Anna Čea: ... and now, moving onto the sports segment. We're tuning in with our correspondent Juli Orini live from Ryxtylopia. Hello, Juli! A big screen behind Čea changes graphics and shows news correspondent Juli Orini. Juli Orini: Hello, Anna! And hello to all Fùtbol fans tuning in right now! Anna Čea: So, what have the Činni been up to? Juli Orini: Things are looking up for them, as today the National Team earned its first three points! After drawing two matches against Larxia and Alchera, and losing one to Overthinkers, the Činni have won their match against fellow Nurans, Kalmach. I’m joined by head coach Jan Košis to comment on the team’s performance. The TV feed is now focused on Juli Orini, found just outside of the football pitch, next to Košis. In the background, several fans sitting in the stands are waving familiar Nuran flags, and a couple of bright red flares fill the air. A small graphic detailing the outcome of the match is seen under Orini and Košis. Jan Košis: Hello everyone, glad to be here. Juli Orini: The team seems to have finally broken the deadlock, so to speak, as 75% of Rivalfiume’s overall goals came all from this match. Jan Košis: Indeed. We’ve been working very hard on goalscoring, especially from “golden occasions” such as set pieces, and it’s working. Juli Orini: Today is a perfect example of that: let’s talk about Čentini’s absolute screamer! What a debut for him! Jan Košis: Ah, that was a well worked goal! Super-Substitute Čentini scored a beautiful goal in the first half from a free kick, rocketing the ball in the top corner in the 2nd minute of added time. Juli Orini: Well, the goal was absolutely stunning, but not-so-stunning was the reason the free kick was given. Is Anečeti going to recover quickly? Jan Košis: I’m afraid that Anečeti is going to miss some games, as he’s been badly clattered by an opposition player. To be honest, I’m quite shocked that the player wasn’t sent off with a straight red. Juli Orini: Let’s hope that he recovers soon... Despite Kalmach getting a goal back in the 50th minute, the Team didn’t let us down and scored two of their own. What a relief! Jan Košis: It’s nice to see that the players weren’t let down by the temporary draw and were willing to fight until the end. I’m super proud of them and their superb teamwork. Juli Orini: Looking at the next fixtures, Rivalfiume is going to face Ryxtylopia, the hosts themselves, who are in a good run of form and have already qualified to the knock-out stages. What’s the plan? Jan Košis: We have to defend our points advantage as much as we can. Both Alchera and Kalmach have to face tough opposition, like us, and if we lose against Ryxtylopia and they win, it would go down to goal difference. That’s why, if we secure a draw, we would mathematically qualify for the rounds of 16. That’s the plan. As for the formation, some changes have to be made due to injuries or recent fatigue. A graphic is shown, titled "Most probable formation, according to analysts". Juli Orini: Thank you for your time, coach. Good luck for the next game, let’s hope for a favorable result! Jan Košis: Thank you, Juli! Juli Orini: Fluvians watching at home, don’t forget to tune in next time, as the next match potentially decides whether the Činni make it out of the group stages for the first time ever. Thank you for watching! The TV switches back to the studio, as Anna Čea begins the weather segment. Anna Čea: As for the weather, there’s a high chance of showers in all of the Estre Nort department…
  2. Mussa was startled by a sudden noise and opened one of his eyes. As he turned the lights on, the faint whirring of a lightbulb echoed throughout the room. How long had he slept since he got back to the hotel room? Mussa quickly looked left and right, as if the walls could answer his question. The last days of training had been very demanding, and the long flight had not been kind to him, as he still had to recover fully. He slowly got out of his bed and looked out of the window. Ryxenia’s bright city lights cut through the dark sky, as if they were a sea of artificial stars. Mussa had never traveled so far away in his life. He was used to living in his native town, small even by fluvian standards. Instead, the Ryxtylopian Capital seemed to stretch endlessly, and he struggled to visualize the sheer size of it. “A single city that contains almost all citizens of Rivalfiume,” he thought to himself. But Mussa’s thoughts were cut short by a faint siren noise, as several police lights briefly lit up the distant city streets, painting them bright blue. Mussa followed the police lights with his eyes, until they disappeared behind a large building. It seemed like a lot of police was required. He didn't think too much of it. "Besides, it's such a huge city..." Mussa admired the city landscape one more time before turning to his bed. “Sleeping will help me recover and stay sharp for the oncoming matches.” he thought, before shutting off the lights.

  4. New RF-Alert test drills expected tomorrow BARSE' - Tomorrow, precisely at 12:00 (IAT +5) all cellphones connected in the Department of Barsè will simulteanously receive a message. It will be a test issued by the National Department of Civil Defense to make the most of the technology at our disposal. "RF-Alert" is a public Emergency Alert System that aims to reach and protect citizens that find themselves in a potential emergency situation. The system has already been tested last year on a local scale in the districts of Barsè and Altipì respectively. "The test in the Department of Barsè will be the first of Departmental scale - explained Civil Defense's Departmental Representative Tonia Ribbo - The message that the Barsediani will receive will be a drill, but if it works, we'll have a powerful tool available in real time, more precious than ever in the event of natural disasters or other serious events. We will follow the outcome of the test very carefully. I urge all citizens to not be alarmed, to follow the instructions and to give their feedback on the outcome of the drill". The message that the residents of Barsè will receive is the following: "This is a TEST MESSAGE of the Public Fluvian Emergency System. Once active, it will warn you in case of emergency. For further information, visit the website www.rf-alert.rf and fill in the questionnaire on the outcome of the test". Other drills will follow in the Departments of Estre Nort, Vajo and Lungogesi Baso throughout the rest of the year. Sekiyan F1WC Team Eckhard-Walter confirm signing of Oldo Miuli SONNENFELD - Promising young talent Oldo Miuli has been officially signed by Eckhard-Walter's F1WC division. Eckhard-Walter is a name that is easily recognized by Nuran motorheads, as they are one of the most dominant motorsport teams, having numerous wins in local and even international competitions. Miuli will be joined by teammate Konstantin Stein, another very talented driver from Sekiya. With these two crucial signings, one can only hope that the team's efforts will further estabilish Rivalfiume and neighboring Sekiya as motorsport powerhouses. Leaked stunning E.C. Vajo kits after surprising promotion VAJO - The kits of E.C. Vajo that are destined for the 1423/1424 season were recently leaked on the Internet. E.C. Vajo, after 11 years of permanence in the Lega Superiore, Rivalfiume's second tier of the Fluvian Football League, got a shocking promotion to the Lega Majore, after winning the Play-Off final against Borgo Novocomoro, the team that was predicted to win it all. The new kits are a big improvement: The iconic royal purple home shirt has been adorned with a pattern remeniscing traditional Vajan wool clothes and carpets. The same pattern can be found on the shirt's sleeve cuffs. The Football Club also filed new sponsorship deals with local car dealership CAV, staying true to its roots. Let's hope that the Violeti and their iconic home kit manage to stay in the top flight! In the photo, the leaked kit adorned with the Lega Majore Patch. Good luck Violeti!
  5. Laensio Mendini approves of NCC's new license plate regulations and encourages further cooperation WEST FAUTHUR - Fluvian representative and Minister of Transport Laensio Mendini signed the NCC (Nuran Cooperation Commission) legislation, proposing standardized license plates for safer travel between complying countries. He also added that "This is a big step forward", and hopes that "more countries will adhere to the regulations". What does this mean for the average Fluvian? The only difference between the old and new license plate is the addition of the so-called "Red Strip", in compliance with the new NCC regulations. This strip includes important information that eases car identification, such as the state flag and 3-letter code. Cars registered with the old license plates can still be used within the borders of Rivalfiume, but if you wish to travel abroad you're required to get a new license plate within five years. The cost for changing the license plate has been set to 100 ƒƒ, although additional fees may apply depending on the Department that you reside in. As to comply to the regulations, All produced cars sold in Rivalfiume will be provided with the new license plates, beginning in July of 1423. The license plates shown below are the standard version for commercial and passenger vehicles and the squared version, used by high power motorcycles and vehicles with square license plate holders. Minister of Transport, on behalf of the
  6. Highlights | Local News & World News Sports Special: World Cup of Football draws to a close! Rivalfiume out in the group stages, Nieubasria defends the title! GRANKASTELLO - The World Cup of Football has officially ended! And wow, it sure was interesting! This year's WCF host was Hertfordshire and Jammbo, a small nation on the other side of the Great Pacific Ocean. Even though Rivalfiume was knocked out of the competition in the group stages, the players have showed their worth and some international action is surely going to take place for the Swans. Despite the many losses, most of the matches played were very close, usually with goal differences of just one. "It's a shame that the Swans lost at the group stages, I'm sure that with a bit of luck, we could've advanced to the rounds of 16", said Tesmett in a recent press conference held in Porto Mei. "The group had lots of tough contenders, namely Nieubasria, the previous (and most recent!) edition champions. Many congratulations to a solid team, they deserved it. Sospestan also had a nice run, so congratulations to them as well! Who knows, the Nur National Teams could pull an upset and get themselves to the semifinals or even the finals! That would surely be interesting. If you ask me, I think that the team tried their best, and we will try our luck next time." "Hey, even though we lost, I gladly watched the rest of the matches!" said Frese Pajetta, a sports commentator and football enthusiast, who bought the tickets to go and watch the matches live. "Even though the weather was as chilly as in Altipì, the atmosphere in the stadium was a whole 'nother thing. People celebrating and enjoying the sport. Such a warm feeling! It's beautiful that this sport unites us all." Fluvian Schools: The Saturday Debate BAJAMAJORE - It is known that Fluvian Schools are considered demanding, even by international standards. Especially the schedule, as when students go from Middle School to High School (14 years old and onward) they are met with a sudden increase in school hours. That's because the majority of Fluvian High Schools are also open on Saturdays. The reasoning? Most would say "To spread school hours as evenly as possible", but that reasoning doesn't satisfy most Fluvian students. People think that teenagers deserve more free time to socialize and to spend with friends and family. Other parents also brought up interesting "cons" to Saturday Schools: Upkeep costs. since schools are open six days of the week, they consume precious energy and resources. On the flipside, teachers and school principals alike agree that closing the schools on Saturdays will make the other days longer, since the ~36 hours/week target must be met. And that will mean less concentrated and tired students. "Think of the average Fluvian attention span! They wouldn't last without Saturdays!" Says Marus Tisselli, the principal of the School of Chemistry and Technology of Bajamajore. "My school is attended by many students, that come from all over the Province of Bajamajore! Hell, I would even say the whole Department! How would those people do in a five day/week situation? They would need to get up very early only to get home at dusk! I would rather go an extra day, because after a day of school like that, I'd be too tired to spend precious time with family or friends!" Are you a student of a Fluvian School? What do you think of the School situation of Rivalfiume? If you'd like to, you can send a form to forms.common@vivalfiume.rf and let us know! We'll show a graphic of what the average Vivalfiume reader thinks of the Saturday Debate.
  7. History of Rivalfiume | Istoria Fluviana History is currently under review. Reworking some stuff! "Rivalfiume", as mentioned in the overview, means "by the river". That's because the first civilizations that inhabited the Fluvian lands settled down along the many rivers that cross the country. There is evidence that nomadic peoples with a hunter-gatherer lifestyle lived within the borders of modern-day Rivalfiume, but the first records of stable human settlements are found on the country's coast, and date back to 2000-1900 BF. This date is often used to mark the start of the Fluvian Ancient Period (Fluvian: Lasso Antigo). The Fluvian Ancient Period: The First Civilizations and City-States The Fluvian Ancient Period is a long and mostly peaceful period of time, when city-states started to consolidate along the coast. These city-states were very different from the usual village: Compared to them, they were not only larger, but also organized differently. They were built near a river/near the sea and surrounded by solid walls and man-made creeks. Canals were created from the rivers, from which smaller and smaller secondary canals branched off, which carried water towards the inlands. Two prominent buildings could be seen outside of the walls: the “Palace”, a large house that was surrounded by a courtyard, and the “Temple”. These two buildings were the symbolic places of power and worship, and the heart of the city-states. Several “districts” were built around the city center, connected by various streets or pathways. The inhabitants of these large, bustling cities were very diverse: Craftsmen - who produced the various goods that the city exported, such as textiles, pottery, weapons and jewelry; Soldiers - who defended the city and protected its inhabitants from enemy invasions; Magistrates - who registered the quantity of goods produced and kept inside the city’s storehouses; Priests - who called upon the Ancient Gods, so that water kept flowing regularly and crops thrived; Farmers - who provided food for themselves and all of the city. Everything was coordinated by a Khu, who was the city monarch. The Khu established the criteria for the collection and redistribution of food, eventual changes to the city-state, when and who to declare war, with which peoples and cities to trade. The first notable city-states were the Khunate of Khamadj, the Khunate of Gaba and the Khunate of Vedh. These city-states were all independent, but practiced trading and other interactions. Eventually, the Khu’s powers extended further the city-state’s walls, often encompassing hundreds of villages and smaller cities along the coast. The Khunate of Khamadj The Khunate of Khamadj was the northernmost Khunate. By ~1500 BF, it administered a territory that included around 80 villages and about 100’000 Inhabitants. Khamadj was an agricultural and commercial city-state: the climate permitted the production of cotton, grapes and many fruit trees, and the low-lying plains permitted the Khamadji to have sheep and cattle as livestock.(thus selling wool and leather). Further inland, following the course of the river, the Khamadji had access to wood, thanks to a nearby forest. Thanks to its strategic position, the city-state of Khamadj soon became an economic powerhouse, connecting the Fluvian Plains to outside trade, later defined as “one of the crossroads of Ancient Nur”. Khamadj’s wealth was well-known and desired by many despots, kings and khus of the region. During its history, Khamadj was often subject to raids and invasions from outsiders, who seeked to plunder the prosperous northern cities. The Khunate of Gaba [WIP] The Khunate of Gaba was positioned between the Khunate of Khamadj and the Khunate of Vedh. Maritime trade was the backbone of Gabaean economy: The biggest city sat on the mouth of river Ǧesi, one of the main routes that connected the Ancient Fluvian Civilizations to the outside world. The Gabaean city-state was governed with extreme efficiency, as documented by some ceramic tablets of the era. Gaba was also well-known for its agriculture: prized lemons, herbs and spices were grown all around the city-state. The Khunate of Vedh [WIP] The Khunate of Vedh was the southernmost Khunate and probably the latest to be established by ancient settlers. The Khunate was organized differently from the others: The urban centers had no outer walls and seemed to be built with a precise urban plan in mind - with long and wide paved roads. The origin of the Ancient Fluvian Civilizations Most historians agree that the ancient fluvian civilizations descended from a common ancestor. This thesis is further reinforced by the fact that these civilizations spoke similar languages and shared customs. The three ancient city-states spoke a common trading language later dubbed Gavekh (Gaban-Vedhian-Khamadji) which has been studied by linguists throughout history, believed to have influenced Modern Fluvian in one way or another. The role of Writing and Religion The Khus were considered the High Priests, the “Divine Coordinators”, as documented by ancient stelae: They could communicate with the Deities, and made sacrifices in their honor. They were believed to hold supernatural powers and to be “demi-gods” among humans. The Ancient Fluvian Civilizations asked themselves why there were years of good harvest or years of bad ones, why it sometimes rained, or why it was hot/cold outside, and so theorized the existence of supernatural beings, Deities, that controlled the weather, the seasons and nature. The presence of stelae proves that the ancient Fluvian civilizations had their own writing system, which has been thoroughly analyzed by historians. The earliest records found are from 1590 BF: a ceramic tablet from Akharran (a small village, probably under the sphere of influence of Gaba), detailing livestock counts. Extension of the Three Khunates, ~1700 BF Rising tension marks the end of the Fluvian Ancient Period As the City-States became bigger and more populated, tensions started to rise: the land area wasn't a lot, since cities tended to be near the coast, and so the City-States started to fight for the hegemony of the Fluvian Plains: This marked the end of the Early Ancient Period, which lasted around 500 years of mostly peace and prosperity. Overview of the known world, ~1500 BF: The Three Khunates [WIP]
  8. Highlights | Local News Major highway closed due to landslide near Barsè: 11 injured, 4 in critical condition BARSE' - Tragedy struck yesterday, as around 11:30 pm, a large piece of rock broke off the side of a mountain, collapsing onto the Super-tratta Montana, an important stretch of motorway that runs alongside the mountains of Rivalfiume. Although it was late, and the flow of traffic was minor, the landslide still caused considerable damage: 11 people injured, 4 of whom in critical conditions, who were flown with extreme urgency by a helicopter to the municipal hospital of Barsè. The recent severe weather conditions might've been the cause of the accident: the north was recently hit by heavy rain after a period of dry spell. The Grand Directory has issued an immediate closure of the highway until the road is cleared of all debris and it is deemed safe. Plans to expand and invest on national railways Ferrovie Fluviane's network GRANKASTELLO - The Grand Directory has recently approved the plan to expand on Rivalfiume's Public Transport industry, focusing mainly on the state-run Ferrovie Fluviane, sadly known for being unreliable and lacking key personnel. The budget will be mainly spent on buying new trains and wagons to boost the already existing network. There is also the long-term plan of expanding the network with new railway lines, reducing the length of time of the route from one city to another, allowing faster service and the circulation of more goods and people. The Grand Directory has reassured the fluvian citizens that the proposed new lines and tunnels will not interfere with Rivalfiume's many natural parks and protected areas. Today's Sport Snippet: Marselio Tesmett appointed to be Rivalfiume's Coach for this year's World Cup, "La Selesione" will be announced soon A sneak-peek of Rivalfiume's home and away shirt, from the National Team social media account. GRANKASTELLO - The Fluvian Football Federation has selected Marselio Tesmett, ex-midfielder, coach and club legend of Lupidimare PM, as Head Coach of the Swans. "I hope to bring great joy to the citizens of Rivalfiume this year", admitted Tesmett in a recent press conference. "We've begun scouting young prospects in preparation of the first group trainings. The official list of chosen players will be out soon. This year, we are switching to a more unconventional formation and tactic, at least for our standards. I think we must change our "philosophy" in order to create winning chances, and not rely on a defensive approach. If you ask me, organizing friendlies with neighbouring countries would be a good idea, too".
  9. Highlights | Local News Another car found with fake "Sovreign Kingdom of Perenesia" License plate: It's the second this month NESIA MARITTIMA - Local police were caught by surprise when on the 4th of October, a parked car near the Nesia Marittima city center was found with a fake "Sovreign Kingdom of Perenesia" license plate, as the medieval state was a thing of the past. Nevertheless, the car owner was found and asked to remove the license plate. Today, October 28th, police were shocked to find a moving vehicle sporting another fake license plate. The standard Fluvian license plate was nowhere to be found on the rear of the car. Police asked the driver to pull over, and they obliged. When questioned, the driver, who identified himself as "His Royal Highness, King Percense VIII", simply answered that "The Sovreign Kingdom of Perenesia is a real thing, and that it's unjustly unrecognized by the majority of Esferos". Percense VIII tried to convince the police, but still ended up with a hefty fine and a notice to remove the plate immediately, or else he would face harsher consequences. "Let's just hope that Percense is the last one", added Mattiseo Persenni, the Nesia Marittima chief of police, who agreed to be interviewed today. "Let me be clear, adding stickers or similar modifications to your vehicle is in no way illegal, but obstructing or driving without front or rear license plate definetely is". Endemic deer species thought to be "more than likely extinct" spotted on a hiking trail by a tourist, experts still skeptical COLLE CASTANO - The last sighting of the Fluvian Deer, a small, endemic animal that lived in the forested areas of Rivalfiume, was four years ago. Most experts agreed that the species had probably gone extinct. But recently, a photo has started to spread on the Internet, depicting what looks like an adult exemplar crossing "Pas dea Forèa Sibillina", a famous hiking trail found in the small mountain village of Colle Castano, Department of Estre Nort. The photo was taken by a tourist, that was there by chance and decided to take a quick photo of the animal, without knowing that she could've found a lost species. She then posted the photo to her social media account, and that's when the photo became viral. Experts are divided on the matter: Some say that there's a chance that the animal is actually a Fluvian Deer, and that the Government should send a small group of researchers near Colle Castano to try and find the animal, while others say that the photo is too blurry and low quality to be sure, and that it'll be a waste of precious time and resources, considering the poor infrastructure of the northernmost, rural Departments. As of now, we still don't know what the government is going to do to solve this problem. Expect updates soon on the website! If you're interested in this and other developing news, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to be updated! Today's Sport Snippet: National Chess Championship held in Nesia Marittima, Basamia Department, "Way more partecipants than last edition", organizers say NESIA MARITTIMA - Another year, another edition of the Fluvian National Chess Championship! This time, the event is held in Nesia Marittima, the city randomly drawn from the FNCC Eligible Cities List. Compared to last year, tournament registrations have increased considerably, with this edition becoming the most popular of them all. "This is going to be the Chess Renaissance we were waiting for!" exlaims GM Paresco Picchi, who agreed to be interviewed today. "I think we are assisting to a Chess golden age. Tournament registrations have been promising, and I can't wait to see what the youngsters of Rivalfiume can do! The ones we should be on the look out for? Carès Talismari and Otomeo del Prado. Both really young and talented. I reckon they're going to go far". For those of you that are interested in joining, the registration can also be made online on the FederSciamat website. FEDERSCIAMAT
  10. A Directorial what now? Rivalfiume is a Directorial Republic, which means that its Head of Government and Head of State is the Grand Directory (Fluvian: Gran Direttorio), a group of five (5) people elected by the Legislative Body (Fluvian: Korpo Leǧislativo), made of two parts: the Grand Council (Fluvian: Gran Kunsìlio), made up of 80 councillors, and the Elders Council (Fluvian: Kunsìlio deli Seniori), made up of 40 councillors. The Grand Directory holds the executive power, enforces law, and has the responsability of governance of the state. the Grand Council has the authority to make new laws, and the Elders Council has the authority of approving or revising the laws made by the latter. Other tasks of the Legislative Body include: The approval of treaties, the election of the Grand Directory and the determination of taxes. The Judicial System is delegated to courts and judges, which will apply the law in the name of the State. The court system is divided in three levels: the Supreme Court (Fluvian: Korte Suprema), and two lesser courts. The Legislative Body is in turn elected by the Electoral Assemblies (Fluvian: Assemblee Elettorali, also known as District Assemblies or Assemblee Distrettuali), and the Electoral Assemblies are elected directly by the people (any citizen who is at least 18 years old).

Its name directly translates to "By the river". As of 1424, Rivalfiume is the only directorial republic in all of Esferos and one of the smallest and least populated countries in Nur. Its capital city and largest city, Grankastello (1423 Census: 411'763 inhabitants), was built on the coastal regions of Rivalfiume, where the terrain is lower and more fertile.
