Dalimbar reacted to Giovanniland in 2nd TWP Rugby World Cup [rosters, roleplays, results]
Giovannilandian Rugby Report - 3rd Match
    Giovanniland 12-0 Bobki
    Tries: Massimiana Angilio-Visellio (22'), Eugenio Akerrone (64')
    Conversions: Massimiana Angilio-Visellio (23')
First Half: The Giovannilandian players got several chances to score during the first half, although only Massimiana managed to score a try and a conversion. This earned Giovanniland seven points against Bobki, whose players tried to attack but were no match for the Giovannilandian defense.
Second Half: For the second half, our coach decided to save efforts for the next game against the Dalimbari, thus some substitutions were made. Nevertheless, the tighthead prop Eugenio further scored another five points for Giovanniland and the final score of 12-0 remained unchanged for the last few minutes. At long last, the Giovannilandiana had won a match in this World Cup.
Post-Match: Giovanniland is currently placed fourth in Group 2, although the possibility of advancing to quarterfinals is still possible. Sports fans from United Adaikes have shown that all five nations in Group 2 can still qualify, although Min-Su, Dalimbar and Mediobogdum have a greater chance than Giovanniland and Bobki due to having more points. Further analysis by our Rugby Report shows the possible outcomes of Matchday 5 games and which ones would be favorable for our team:
Match 1 (Dalimbar vs. Giovanniland) Match 2 (Bobki vs. Mediobogdum) Nations Advancing (1st, 2nd) Dalimbari win (any point difference) Mediobogdumian win (any point difference)  Dalimbar, Mediobogdum Draw Dalimbar, Min-Su Bobkian win (any point difference) Draw Mediobogdumian win (any point difference)  Dalimbar, Mediobogdum Draw Dalimbar, Min-Su Bobkian win (any point difference) Giovannilandian win (18 points or less) Mediobogdumian win (any point difference)  Mediobogdum, Min-Su Draw Min-Su, Dalimbar  Bobkian win resulting in a PD* equal or smaller than the Dalimbari  Bobkian win resulting in a PD greater than the Dalimbari Min-Su, Bobki  Giovannilandian win (greater than 18 points)  Mediobogdumian win (any point difference)  Mediobogdum, Min-Su Draw Min-Su, Giovanniland Bobkian win resulting in a PD equal or smaller than the Giovannilandian Bobkian win resulting in a PD greater than the Giovannilandian Min-Su, Bobki * PD = point differential
Note that, despite the Minsun team having a point differential two points greater than the Mediobogdumians, any rugby win requires at least 3 points from a drop goal/penalty kick or 5 from a try. Therefore, a Mediobogdum win will place them above Min-Su regardless of score.
In conclusion, Giovanniland must score a lot of points in the upcoming match against Dalimbar and hope that Mediobogdum does not win its match against Bobki.

Tonight: Peter uses facial expressions that aren't frowning, Robert puts up a picture, and Barack takes Dilberian drugs.

Matchday 3 Report - Preview: Hello and welcome to this matchday report by us, the HRJ. We apologize for not sending this out to viewers yesterday, there was a problem at our media studio (Lowfield) when protesters decrying the obviously impure nature of the coach stormed the offices and attempted to hijack the news that the dedicated reporters were in the process of writing. As if everyone didn't know Rago was an evil sod already. Anyway, matchday 3 was against Zoran. Of all the debutant teams, the clansmen seemed to be the best performing, already hitting a lofty 3rd in the rankings. As you can probably tell from the scoreline displayed way above, the Remnants were able to put the clan in their place. The Zoranian refugees, who may or may not have been given a dose of Dilberian 'essential oils', meanwhile were dealt with swiftly and accordingly by the Hertfordian mafia. They were expecting the famous Zoranian judo team to turn up and knock out the referee and a few of our players, but they never turned up. Probably out drinking somewhere. The mafia (Ḿafie) refused to let their long trip to Dilber go to waste, so they 'subtly' threatened the refugees on the sidelines. By pointing their guns at them and shooting a few times in a 'Get Off My Lawn' way. Don't worry, thankfully there were no casualties. It wasn't worth it to the mafia and the HRJ would be in real deep waters with human rights activists. Wanna know why the HRJ is so associated with the mafia? Well, Peter Cipriani is a high ranking member if the Ļaien Crime Family, one of Hertfordshire & Jammbo's most powerful mafia organisations.

Matchday 3 Report - First Half: After that fiasco involving the mafia, refugees and judo was over, the match officially commenced. It didn't take long at all for the HRJ to go into the lead, their experience with taking early leads shining through against a Zoran team who might have been counting on the refugees or judo team to help them today. It was Britannia Degre who scored the try in the 5th minute, and a conversion did not happen. To be honest, the one area where we are relatively weak is conversions. Fast forward 10 minutes and it became clear to the HRJ why their aggressive play brings risks. 15 minutes gone and Zoran had brought the score back to 3-5 through a penalty. They then started to get a good foothold in the game, and the early dominance of the HRJ was little by little scraped away. A nicely even match was played out, all for the span of ~4 minutes. Kaguya Birziņa decided to make things worse for the Remnants by getting herself sent off. Our guess is that she attempted to create a false moon or something. Down to 14 players and down 6-5. It wasn't looking good. Literally 2 minutes after that debacle, Zoran got a try elevating their score to 11. They failed the conversion, allowing us to breathe a sigh of relief. For the rest of the half, the HRJ were pinned in their own half as Zoran attempted to make their numerical advantage count for something, yet were unable to. First half over, NACZ 11-5 HRJ, clearly Faust had to make a rant.

Matchday 3 Report - Second Half: Remember when we said that we are experienced with early leads? Want to see that again? Well you can and you did, when Shang Rozitis angrily hurled the ball into the try zone before letting Bello take care of the conversion. Yes, we scored a conversion. More importantly the manager's rant appeared to have had an effect, because just 7 minutes into the 2nd half and we were back in the lead although we still weren't going to have it easy. That point was proved at the 53 minute mark by Satori who was inexplicably sent off for... reasons. Prime Minister Clarkov Furutani Jammbonevych called it a bunch of balls. Without our resident mind reader, we could no longer anticipate the opponents tactics and moves, making the job of holding on to the narrowest of advantages that much harder. But recall back to the previous TWP Rugby World Cup final where we were in a similarly treacherous position. The hero of that match Peter turned up in a surprisingly sharp yet stylish business-like suit and threatened the Zoranian defenders with unpleasant consequences unless they allowed him through. He succeeded, thereby scoring a try and making our lead a bit less nerve-wracking. Did we forget to mention that Zoran scored a third penalty raising their score to 14-5 before this? Yes? Well we have now. The second half from then on devolved into a strange occurrence, due to the now 13-player HRJ managing to somewhat outplay the 15-player Zoran. We couldn't resist a late jab to the clansmen, in the 75th minute 5 minutes from time, Ongo made up for his stupid yellow card in the previous match by sealing victory and a second win in the group stages. Fellow previous-match-yellow-card receiver Isaac laid the cherry on top of an overall satisfying second half performance. Full time could not come soon enough for the opposite camp, whose manager had to watch his team squander a lead against an opponent with 2 red cards dished out to them. Even if that opponent was the reigning champion. Match review over, a hard fought win for the Remnants.

Next Time: Due to the late time at which this was posted, we must get on with the review of another match that occurred during the aforementioned disruption, that of our convincing win against Reçueçn. Despite potential for an aggrieved match thanks to Hertfordian protesters at the 1st tournament, there were no major scraps or much tension at all. Glad we still have an overall quality relationship with the north-central Polaris outfit. The next match at time of publishing is against Badgeria, a nation more interested in ultimate frisbee than rugby. Expect it to be a cake walk, if we don't get hungover from already winning the group per United Adaikes above-par analysis of the groups. Zoran will leave wondering if their judo team actually turns up in the future. They have played all their matches, having defeated Teralyon in between the NACZ/HRJ match and now. They now await who their opponent in the quarter final will be, like us. Who will the HRJ battle once the group stages end? The candidates are Fujai, Saint Mark and United Adaikes. Goodbye, we're off to report again. We really need a vacation once this is over, a trip to western Andolia sounds nice.

Dalimbar got a reaction from Min-Su in Rugby Rankings
Another day, another update to the rankings. As per usual, many changes to the rankings have happened, but perhaps the biggest upset would be the Min-Su vs Giovanniland match. Going in Giovanniland had 53.14 rank points and a home advantage. Yet, the scrappy team from Min-Su took Giovanniland down and gained 3.10 rank points as a result. H&J and Fujai continue to make strong cases for their sides to make it to the final.

Match Report - Dalimbar (49.42) vs. Bobki (51.40)
Now that's Dalimbari-style rugby. Take no prisoners. Leave no opportunity for the opponent to move or have any chance at scoring. Grind down the opponent and break their spirits. Just like on the icy battlefields the Dalimbari fought not too long ago.
Was 30-0 necessary? Yes. After the shocking loss to Min-Su yesterday, the Dalimbari squad knew they had to completely dominate the field lest they find themselves working in the Frontier Mining Project after the tournament. Landmines just don't put themselves in the ground, you know.
Marshal Markus Briand made a special point of phoning Manager Colonel Nursan and the rest of the squad before the match, letting them know he still supported their efforts against the enemy, that Min-Su was officially on the list of barbaric enemies that the nation would deal with later. But the clear message sent to the team is that a loss to Bobki would be unacceptable. The boys in blue clearly got the message, especially when they couldn't locate Special Police Major Trolio the morning of the match.
Right out of the gate play was pushed into the Bobki half of the field and... stayed there. The first half saw three tries and two successful conversions, for 19 points. The second half saw a try and two penalties, for 30. Jubilation was running amongst the approved Dalimbari audience, who must have been at times slipping into the culture of Dilber compared to their more traditional Dalimbari upbringing.

On day 2 of the tournament we can say it was the Day of the Home Advantage. Every single home advantage team, except in the Hertfordshire and Jammbo vs. Teralyon and the Fujai vs. Saint Mark games, saw victory. In the exceptions, we continue to see why H&J and Fujai are at the top of the rankings. But there is to be a case made for home advantage, hence why we factor in a home advantage in the formula. This certainly helped one side in particular, the squad from Nieubasria, which was inching closer and closer to absolute bottom of the rankings against a team despised and obliterated, the Order of the Marsupial Inductees.

Dalimbar reacted to Mediobogdum in 2nd TWP Rugby World Cup [rosters, roleplays, results]
"We was robbed in the first game against Dalimbar" growled the Mediobogdum Coach,  Ginger (Fingers) Malone.  "The ref would have been more effective if he had been waving a white stick rather than the whistle he had in his hand!  He and his team of touch judges missed numerous blatant knock-ons, ignored at least two high tackles, not to mention half a dozed forward passes.  I will be taking a careful look at the video replays of these incidents and may make a formal complaint against the match officials to the TWP World Rugby Cup Committee."
As for our second game against Giovanniland, the match officials had it spot on and I would like to congratulate them on their professionalism, good humour, and deft handling of the whole game.  The sportsmanship showed by our opponents in their defeat was exemplary and we enjoyed post-match schooner races in the bar followed by rugby songs that included: Pull'em Down You Zulu Warrior!,  Mule Train!", and Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.

The Dopin' Dogs supporters are protesting the arena, as scoring only 3 points in a rugby match is illegal in Dilber.  Expectations for roster "moves" to be made are high, with ditches being dug out back already.

On day 2 of the tournament we can say it was the Day of the Home Advantage. Every single home advantage team, except in the Hertfordshire and Jammbo vs. Teralyon and the Fujai vs. Saint Mark games, saw victory. Welcome back to Rugby Ratings, provided by the Department of Sport of the Free State of Dalimbar. With day one action completed in the Second  Rugby WOrld Cup, we're proud to present stats madness throughout the tournament!
The biggest upset of the day easily went to the host team, Dilber. With them coming into this tournament with a ranking of 49.58 and playing technically as the "away" team, they needed to find anyway possible (with perhaps the use of some form of substance claimed to be "essential oils") to assist them overcome the Cambrian squad, which was sitting at 51.63 rank points. Add a "home" bonus of 3 to Cambria and one would expect them to stomp over the Dilber squad. But that's the beauty of rugby, expectations fly out the window as soon as the first scrum happens.
We also see our first tied match of either tournament, thus requiring a bit of explanation of how we account for ties. In the match between Kurabis (47.03) vs Nark (new, thus starting with 50.00), Kurabis was technically the underdog due to the lower rank points and not holding the "home advantage". Kurabis, because of the draw, was able to gain 1.19 points due to the following:
    D = ((50.00+3)-47.03)x0.2 = 1.19
Where Nark had 50.00 rank points and had a pre-match home field advantage of 3, giving Nark 53.00 pre-match points. Kurabis, as noted above, had 47.03. Thus, despite drawing, Kurabis was able to gain as they were not necessarily expected to win or draw against Nark.
With that being said, here's the results.

Dalimbar reacted to Salaxalans in Spiritus
    Spiritus Octember Novtober Update

    Z-Day 2020
Four o’clock in the afternoon on October 30th, amidst massive waves of denial, zombies poked their heads into Spiritus. Everyone was prepping for a Halloween to be spent indoors, with limited contact with the neighborhood children who would normally line up around and down the block for candy. Instead, Spiritus, and many regions the NationStates world over, prepared to deal with the threat emerging from the ground before their eyes. The leaders of Spiritus had one clear goal in mind - a cure, in any method possible. No one handed this message down from someone higher, those in Spiritus just knew what their duty was. And even in that duty, going right against the game’s creator Mac as he denied it. He denied the zombie menace at every turn. Until the last. This was a very clever strategy by Max, and one that added an extra layer to the event that many were unsure would happen given the current state of the world.
However, as the clocks struck four, Spiritus sprung into action. After the events of N-Day so recently, Delegate Salaxalans took backseat for this one, instead a new face joined the ranks to lead. Alongside Attorney General TimothySnyder, newly elected Chief Executive Feirmont took the reins on Z-Day. Others stood tall beside them, guiding as they could, including Red Dusk, Ltin, and Rogamark, among others. It was a slow start for the region, the numbers not reaching peak effectiveness until late into the night and early morning. As dawn broke on Halloween, many of those leading the charge fell off to rest and regain their strength. Stragglers tried to fill the shoes, but the lack of permanent presence was clear outside of the lists Feirmont provided before his time offline. But the people of the region followed the lists, and kept to the cure, each firing their own missiles at whomever they felt was the right target. As the day went on, the likes of TimothySnyder, Rogamark, and Ltin started remaking their appearances. The cure effort was coordinated, and when Feirmont rejoined the fray the was taken effectively and precisely with TimothySnyder and Ltin guiding the RMB and Discord whenever Feirmont couldn’t.
As Halloween drug on, and the willpower of some of the larger nations got weak or needed breaks, finally a light was seen on the horizon. Max finally came to his sense, informing everyone that the end of Z-Day was nigh, and pure cleanliness was in Spiritus’ future as well. As efforts continued, and as those participating saw the end goal, it was time to get tighter and stricter about how things were done. Spiritus found herself launching the final cure missile, one coming from TimothySnyder, on the last of the infected in Kialga; the last of the infected in Spiritus. That cure missile fell at eight thirty-seven in the evening. Spiritus was clean, and it was a matter of vigilance to keep her clean until midnight on November 1st. Spiritus ended up finishing among the top of the top regions: 9 in Most Survivors + No Infected and 14 in Most Survivors overall. A resounding success for not only the nations of Spiritus, but for the new Chief Executive, who stepped up to take the reins from a Delegate still worn from the Nuclear Holocaust not even a month ago.

Spooky Spuds and the Undead Union

For the Hallo-week of Halloween, Spiritus and the European Union combined their (undead) forces to celebrate spooks and candy corn with the Spooky Spuds and the Undead Union festival. Included were classic spooky spam games, a game of Among Us (red is of course sus), and terrifying tales of timely treason in the form of Werewolf.
Contests were also in abundance, with Inquista taking the top prize in the pumpkin carving contest with their postcard-style submission. The battle for pumpkin-art was accompanied by a battle for candy corn supremacy, as festival goers gained and bet on how many candy corns are in a (virtual) packet! Rom took the top spot, making crafty and careful bets, and calculated guesses along the way.
The festival continued with some more spooky spam until the snow started falling, signalling the start of a new month and the end of festivities.

Spiritus Elects 6th Legislature, Keeps Delegate and Chief Justice
The beginning of November marked the elections of both the legislature and the Delegate, with an approval vote for the current sitting Chief Justice. The Delegate position saw only one candidate, The Salaxalans, who took the spot for another four months. Spiritus also allowed Chief Justice Rogamark to keep his spot on the bench. However, the legislature election saw many candidates, allowing for a total of five elected positions in the legislature.
After a few weeks of campaigning and voting, Spiritus decided that the 6th sitting of the legislature would be composed of Rogamark, Louisistan, Kialga, TimS, and Seraph. The newly elected legislators then swifty decided to let Louisistan keep the top spot of Chair Potato which he held in the previous sitting.

    The Great Potato Pardon

This year marked the first Potato Pardon in Spiritus, with Delegate The Salaxalans putting two candidate potatoes forward for the members of Spiritus Discord to decide on which will be forgiven in time for (American) Thanksgiving. The two candidates put forward their best faces, but at the end the members decided on the fate of the poor happy potato. Ah well, I’m sure the other potato was thankful!

Match Report - Dalimbar (49.96 Rank Points) vs Mediobogdum (50.00)
After a respectable fourth-place showing at the First TWP Rugby World Cup (though, tell that to some elements of Stavka, who demanded total victory), the boys in blue from Dalimbar were back. Facing them today was a newcomer from Doll Guldur, Mediobogdum. By mid-match the newcomers had earned respect from the Dalimbari after pulling into the lead. But it was the efforts of team Captain Theodor Rybar rallying his troops which saw Dalimbar prevail in the end, 18-12.
The first half saw the Dalimbari side score a quick try at the 5 minute mark, bringing them to 5 points. Sadly the squad couldn't seal the deal on the conversion, which must have made the side from Mediobogdum happy as they seemed to dominate play for the rest of the half. A fierce second half ensued, with Dalimbar scoring two penalties at the 55 minute and 68 minute markers, bringing them to 11 points. Finally, with 5 minutes left, Rybar furiously rampaged towards the Mediobogdum side after a close toss from left-winger Victor Labelle, the Dalimbari scored another try, this time with a successful conversion to bring it home for the Dalimbari.
"We have seen the enemy, and this enemy played well." Said Rybar after the match. "We will work hard to make sure we conquer all those who face us on the field."
Back in Saint Andreisburg, it was said that Marshal Markus Briand, the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Free State of Dalimbar, was ecstatic with the result.

Based on the rankings provided by the Department of Sports, we see the inevitability of the final matches. The team with the higher rank won, although for Hertfordshire and Jammo their victory was only clinched in extra time. Congratulations to the winner!

What a stunning day 7. Fujai upset Giovanniland to make it to the finals, while Hertfordshire and Jammo continued to dominate play, this time over Dalimbar.
