DU-UKH, UUK – Keiserholde, Fujai — Heja folks, this is Berit here coming to you from DU-UKH, Den Blå Duken, UiKeiserholde's officially unofficial student radio. For today's Idrottsminutt, there's one bit of news everyone's talking about and that's FUJAI'S WIN IN THE QUARTERFINALS!!!! *air horns blare* The Landslag had an extremely difficult match against the Santo-Dominians yesterday. Both teams had been on good form before the match, the Santo-Dominians coming off of their last win in the group stage against Badgeria, and the Landslag their blowout against the Provisional Auran team.
True to their form, the Santo-Dominian side began on the defense, but repeated pressure by the Landslag quickly forcing them to make up for lost time as they lost two goals to Hellem and Michaud at 14 and 32 minutes in. Coming into the second half thoroughly behind, the Santo-Dominians ramped it up with two goals to equalize from Valade and Aliniere at 49 and 61 minutes. From then on it was a race to see who could come up with the needed goals in what was already one of the highest scoring matches of the Cup so far. Feeling a fresh fight in them at this point, the Landslag pushed for another goal by Salberg at the 71 minute mark, and again by Salberg at 79 minutes. The Santo-Dominians then abandoned their defensive formation and went full offense for the remainder of the match, netting them another goal by Aliniere, and a very near miss by Lansberger that could've equalized the match for them. With such a fantastic match to watch, it's hard for anyone to be upset, and I know every Fujar hopes to go up against the Santo-Dominians again soon. You know, to give them a chance to try and beat us. You can't see me but I'm winking right now.
As for the future of the Landslag in the Cup, there are some tough matches coming up if we hope to see the final. Next up is us versus Larxia, who just won against their neighbors in Hertfordia. The Larxians did very well in their group, so it's yet to be seen who comes out on top. We at Den Blå Duken are crossing our fingers, you can be sure of that. Whoever wins that match will go against the winner of the Cambrian-Arifiyyan duel, the Arifyyan side just coming off a surprising, or not so surprising, depending on who you are, upset against Dalimbar. After that it's anyone's game in the final, though our money is on the Basrians or the Zoranians winning in that area, a result we'll see at the end of their next match against each other.

The Work Is Done
Good day to all Arifiyyah FA football fans. A sad news for us after the Arifiyyah FA team was eliminated in the quarterfinals. Yet that is one of the best achievements that has proven that the Arifiyyah national league has produced international-class players. "I really do not feel disappointed in the recent match, because they have done their best throughout the tournament. Whatever through this tournament we have observed the performance of our players to prepare if after this there will be another international tournament like this," said the head coach after the end of the match.

The two inner lanes of the westbound Thraproy Regional Highway heading in to Steskia are currently closed after a stolen vehicle crashed into the median. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the car, according to police. 
Police declined to answer whether this accident has any connection to the homicide-car jacking in Perthdoches.

Pre-Match Review
Welcome to this, the last of our reviews of the HAJFF this tournament. The reason is because after a ridiculously close battle, we fell to a last minute goal that sent Larxia through by the very skin of their teeth. Actually, both teams had times when they were superior but overall despite the score it proved to be a well fought match between them and us lot in the Paradigm Compass. Let's be honest though, we came close to scoring far more than they did across the span of the match. Even if the defence has been sub par, our attack was still one of the most dangerous and possibly even feared in the entire World Cup of Football. Those in Giovanniland weren't kidding when they called us 'one of the strongest teams'. Come on, we're taking all compliments we can get. Silver lining, people! Of course, nothing of note happened before the match and that's okay. We're still rather miffed about the end result though. Only 1-0? Seriously, it should have been something like a 5-4 result. Even if they had still won in this preferable scenario it would make for a better loss than this.

How we feel about the way we lost. The fact that we lost at all miffs us, but the way it happens is what sends our collective heads into envisioning this picture of RM Richard Hammond.
 
First Half Review
Larxia, being the so-called 'home' side, kicked the match off. Amazingly, despite the drabness that was our 0-0 stalemate with Zoran, the first half of this encounter had even less to report on. All we can discuss is that Hart Vecunmieks, our reliable if ageing goalkeeper bit the dust with a severe injury. Dharkon Tumsa took stage in the goal and proved to be brilliant enough to block a superb effort from one of the Larxian players, not with their hands because it was too far off to reach normally, but with their hair. Yes this makes little sense to us as well, but their hair is less of a hairdo and more a highly loose black and dark purple thorn bush of misery. We believe it was in minute 37 if not mistaken. It almost popped the ball right there, luckily it survived with the first half continuing to bring pretty much nothing to the fore. BOOOOORING!

Second Half Review
We began the second half and truth be told it was far better than the first. In fact, it was such a feat that we are not going to write a ton about it, not because there was nothing to write about, but because we were almost stunned into silence by what was unfolding. A furious back and forth with amazing performances in attack by both teams, especially ours, and miraculously excellent performances by the 2 respective goalkeepers to somehow keep the score level at none a piece. That was until the 89th minute when a shot by Larxia was well saved by Dharkon Tumsa to go out for a corner, which some random dude called Leo Messy lobbed in. Is he meant to be the centre of attention on their side? Either way, the corner was well defended, but the goalkeeper was not prepared for the sudden half-volley that came after, which bounced meekly underneath them and into the net, effectively handing Larxia a win which truth be told should not have happened. At least not that way. They had so many good chances, how did they just score at such a late point? Likewise how did we not score at all? That is all there is to say. Oh, apart from the fact that Asriel Dreimanis, who replaced Bello Jēkabsons in the starting line-up due to his friend Ongo Vidopliassova's birthday back home, fell to a bad injury in the 74th minute and was replaced by an girl from a ridiculously naturally cut off island that lives around 130-140 years behind everyone else with a bad understanding of modern clothing, Chikage Alexova. She's also pretty knowledgeable though not nearly to the extent that Mina Maneva and Lisa Lazarenko are. There, now we can end. Apart from one thing, we heard from the hosts United Adaikes after they were knocked out too that they were rooting for us lot to win Group C. It's real pleasant to know that even in the worldly equivalent of a small cold village in the corner of the room we still have other nations who cheer us on. The hosts no less too. Huh, guess people really do root for the underdogs.

Post-Match Review
Of course, there is no need for a proper post-match review. All there is to know is that we leave miffed but ultimately comforted knowing the aforementioned information and the fact that we could at least put in a performance for our fans to be proud of, ensuring that we departed the Football World Cup in a blaze of glory. Larxia remain in the tournament and will do battle with Fujai who edged Santos-Dominius out in a narrow but equally thrilling 4-3 encounter. They are 1 of 3 Andolian nations left in the tournament, alongside Irador and Nagaraningrad. If we can't win it, then we go for you three. Whether it be the Nagaraningradians, Larxians or Iradorians, the HAJFF puts their support behind each one to take home the World Cup for not only themselves, but for Andolia as a whole. Show the world that ours is the premium continent! Also, we will not finish posting. We will do calculations on the attacks and defences of the teams, who scored or blocked out the most in total and per match to find out what truly were the most dangerous teams in the tournament.

Glorious Nagaraningrad National Football (NNF) Finally beat Fujais Fotbollforbund (FjFF) in qualification group and Badgeria Football in round of sixteen. The new specification of Individual Training has been implemented since the glorious match against United Adaikes.
The Badgeria are famous for it's six goals against Alchera however, NNF manage to beat Badgeria with first goal by the Captain Bambang Karajan, after fifteen minute from the start of second half and with Badgeria went stun, NNF manage to steal the ball and score another with only one minute fifty six second from the kick off start by Jaka Wiranagara. As Badgeria looks loss on morale, they are unable to make any opportunity with loose offensive stance. With score of two - nil, Nagaraningrad pass into quarter-final
At quarter-final, NNF will match against The Iradorian National Football Team. "Our Nagaraningrad National Football are playing graciously for the last three matches. We are very excited and as the teams also must retain a high focus and stay agile for the next match until Nagaraningrad is the Champions" said the NNF Head coach, Raden Jaka Batoebara.

Dear Mr. Quasena,
The Monarchists made a push into one of our provinces in the northern island which resulted in us receiving 4,020 of our men joining our hold here. We decided to make a push to assert our control over the contested province of Gagotigakanvsgi using our forces here to make a push. Using the equipment you purchased from Dalimbar we were able to inflict significant casualties on the GDC troops in that territory. Many of them appeared to be poorly trained and poorly equipped, allowing our men to pick them off easily. However, the monarchist rebels in the area gave us a bit more trouble. They appear to be proficient with guerilla and urban warfare, able to move quickly and concealing themselves with their surroundings. We lost a significant amount of men as we fought in the cities and the jungles but after a few days of fighting we were able to push them out of the province. The attack you ordered on the province that borders Gagotigakanvsgi to the west must have had them decide to pull out of the province in favor of keeping their territory. We are still rooting out small pockets of GDC troops and monarchists scouts but the province should be under your complete control over the course of a few weeks.

"Good morning Zoran! I am Quiyakaso Gohalitsve and welcome to Zoranian Times Live! Last night our team went up against Libterraria for a place in the quarterfinals! To say the least the game was a bit of a bore as both teams were constantly preventing each other from scoring for most of the game. Our team's offense kept being disrupted by the Libterrarian defense and our defense kept disrupting their offense. However, in the final few minutes of the game, our team was able to score a goal against Libterraria, breaking the deadlock between the teams. This goal was pulled off by Ayeli Igvyiditlvanigisdi who kicked the ball into the goal from the right of the goal! This has progressed us into the quarterfinals where our team will face off against the Nieubasrian team! The coach has said that the team is going to be watching the Nieubasrian football team's previous matches in order to learn their strategies in order to be able to counter it. Tonight's match will be one that should not be missed."
Quiyakaso then closed his eyes clenched his jaw, seemingly waiting for something to come and ruin his broadcast. But nothing came.
"Huh, this is a rare occurance. Well then, I hope you are able to watch the match Zoran. Stay safe and beware of the Dalimbari landmines! This was Quiyakaso Gohalitsve with the World Cup report!"

But no less impressive is also our rival Dalimbar who gave a great competition. Congratulations to both teams! Larxia opened the first half of the Round of 16 match against Hertfordia. The coach has rested Aviero and de Marcus. They will be replaced by Fati and Moon respectively. Fati almost makes it 1-0 in the 32nd minute with a curling shot to the top bin, but it is kept out by the keeper. Good work by the Hertfordian goalkeeper in keeping that out. This was the closest any team came to scoring in the first half.
Hertfordia opened the second half. The possession of the ball went to and fro between the two teams. Both teams created some chances in the second half, but great work by the goalkeepers at both ends. Garcia hits a powerful shot, but the keeper gets a hand on it. It goes out of play. A corner for Larxia in the 88th minute. Messy will take it. Messy curls it into the penalty area. It is cleared by a Hertfordian defender, but not too far, as Fernandes takes a half volley which goes straight into the goal. The goalkeeper didn't have time to react to that extremely powerful half-volley. It is 1-0 in the 89th minute. That's the final whistle, Larxia have won this game and progressed to the Quarter-finals of the World Cup. You can feel the cheers of Larxian fans as it brings a slight tremor in the surrounding areas.

In a post match interview with the coach, we asked him how he felt about this victory. He replied," It is a victory. That is what is important, though I had hoped for a bigger margin. Scoring in the last minute feels good, but you know what is better? Scoring in the other minutes where we failed to score today. I'll say, the Hertfordians gave us a tough fight, but we need to get back to scoring ways. That's why we'll be training extra hard for our match tomorrow against the Fujansk Landslag. I have full confidence in my players that we can go all the way, but we're also counting on the Larxians' support. Be there to support the sons of Larxia."
 
Larxia will face Fujai in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. Fujai have come off the back of a 4-3 victory against Santos-Dominius in the Round of 16 and finished second in Group A with 10 points. Fujai is a strong team and has performed well, but so has Larxia. This match is going to be legendary in all ways perceivable. We sure hope for a Larxian victory and we'll pray for our team.

"Hello Giovanniland, here speaks Vanessa Desniana! It is a pleasure to present yet another Giovannilandian Football Report as the host for the 1st World Cup of Football. In this report you will watch news about the last group stage matchday of the World Cup, as eight teams depart the competition and sixteen will continue on the knockout stage. Giovanniland is one of them! Yes, you heard that right—even though the result of our match against Libterraria was a draw, specific results within other games allowed us to take the 4th place in the group. The fight for the 4th place was very close because Fhaengshia also had the same amount of points as Giovanniland, but their 0-5 defeat against the Larxia meant Giovanniland qualified due to a higher goal difference."
"Regarding our match against Libterraria, the first half was quite eventful. Giovannilandian players tried a lot of attacks as usual but none scored a goal, until midfielder Herbina Gavio Horati managed to catch the ball from a wrong Libterrarian play, and then went all the way from the midfield to the penalty box, passing through the Libterrarian defense, and scored the first and only Giovannilandian goal of the match." Vanessa showed images of how the goal was scored, a play by Herbina which was lauded by many as one of the best goals of the tournament. "Following this, the coach Tiberio Levino decided to replace some Giovannilandian strikers and midfielders with more defense-focused players in order to hold a win that would qualify Giovanniland immediately."
"The second half of the match was less eventful, with Libterrarian players trying to equal the score to no avail until the 80th minute. The final minutes saw some revival of attempts by both sides in order to untie the game, although none of these worked. The game then ended as a 1-1 draw, but fortunately this did not eliminate Giovanniland since, at that point, Larxia had already been winning by four goals against Fhaengshia, a team then eliminated by goal difference. After the end of all Group B matches, the teams of Larxia, Libterraria, Dalimbar and Giovanniland advanced to the round of 16 while Fhaengshia and Pallandole failed to qualify. Giovanniland will now meet the leader of Group C Irador, and we'll see what happens then," Vanessa completed.
Karlo Nakamura-Edrense then appeared on the screen and says: "Hello viewers! You already know Giovanniland has qualified for the round of 16. We'll play against the leader of Group C Irador, and I will give you a quick retrospective of their own games so the public is able to know which team we are facing. Irador similarly endured defeats on its first games just like Giovanniland—first a defeat against our Auran neighbors of Zoran, and then a draw against Reçueçn. However, on the third game they upset one of the strongest teams, Hertfordshire & Jammbo, and scored 5-1 against them. A comfortable win against Italia then followed, and finally they won against former group leader Arifiyyah to take the lead. It seems for me that Giovanniland will meet a tough opponent, and we must hope that everything goes alright for our team. See you tomorrow for another Giovannilandian Football Report about the knockout rounds!"

"Hello Zoran! I am glad to say that our team has progressed to round 16 of the World Cup after a draw with the Herfordian football team! Both teams were equally matched as neither of them gave any ground for the other to score. While there were a few moments where it appeared that a team would break the tie but that was not the case. Up next we have a match against Libterraria which will determine whether or not we will get to the quarterfinals or not!"
Someone then runs into view of the camera and hands Quiyakaso a piece of paper, he looks down and reads it.
"Ah and in other news, there have been rumors that the body of the infamous thief GCZ has been found in Zoran. This is all speculation of course as the body has not been identified properly yet, the only evidence that has led people to believe it was CGZ was the black clothing, a belt with equipment, and a deck of CGZ calling cards in a side pouch on the belt. Yet those who deny it to be CGZ's body state that he would have been wearing his special body armor if it was CGZ. Yet those who believe it to be CGZ theorize that he might have had to use regular clothing due to the armor having to be repaired and thus not fit for being worn. All of this has yet to be confirmed and will probably not be covered by me as I am only the news anchor for this sporting event."
Someone off screen can be heard booing and then a soda can flies into view and hits Quiyakaso in the head.
"Hey! That's not my fault! I was only given orders from the bosses to report this development in order to maximize coverage! Now, if you will allow me, I would like to cover highlights from the match last ni-"
More booing can soon be heard as garbage is soon being thrown as Quiyakaso and then the camera man throws the camera at Quiyakaso, causing the feed to cut and a technical difficulties screen appearing. And then more Nieubasrian ads play on the screen.

Zoran 0-0 Hertfordshire & Jammbo (HT: ZOR 0-0 HAJ)
 
Pre-Match Review
Welcome one and all to this review. It is of the final group stage match against Zoran which despite ending in the most drab draw you could think of, still ensured that we went through in 4th place in Group C. That damn shock defeat to Irador ruined our prospects for challenging the top. You might be wondering why we have no notes on goals, injuries or even any yellow card or red cards. The first one is blatantly obvious, it's right up on the scoreline. As for the others, this was without a doubt the most drab match in Group C, possibly in the entire tournament so far. So much for the Paradigm Compass being an exciting team. We aren't totally sure what happened, some say that the Zoranian refugees and the Hertfordian mafia cancelled each other out, much like how our team and theirs cancelled each other on the pitch. Due to the terrible boredom that resulted from this game this will likely be the shortest edition yet. We'll still try though, because we're professionals. Certainly more professional than some nations we know.

The match was as dull as it gets. We're thankful then that a bandaged PM Clarkov Furutani turned up with the mafia to sort of spice things up. Also, who said we couldn't use the same picture twice.
 
First Half Review
Do not kid yourselves, this review is going to be more of a recap. Lack of detail because we can only write so much about this. Some fans have attested to seeing a crowd of Zoranian refugees attempting to storm the pitch and hold up our players but claim they were dealt with just fine. Then apparently the mafia turned up, followed shortly by Prime Minister Clarkov Jammbonevych Furutani. The operation to heal his stab wound from around 2 matches prior had worked much faster than expected and he had turned up wearing that same garb he was wearing pre-tournament. The nostalgia effect, may haps. Either way, fans then claimed to have seen the mafia force the refugees off the pitch completely, all while the match was being played at the same time. Talk about supposed early drama. But that didn't happen throughout all the time spent playing. We cannot really say much at all therefore about the first half other than that. We effectively cancelled each other out. Their team has a far worse attack, but a far better defence so really the game played out more like a Zoranian match than a Hertfordian match in the end.
 
Second Half Review
More of the same really. The only thing that got fans even remotely interested in this half was noticing the awful kits that the Paradigm Compass were wearing. But even that couldn't keep them awake forever and soon many fans had left the stadium. Like in the first half, very little of note occurred and in the end neither team really deserved to get anything other than a draw. And that was it. Full time, a scoreless draw.
 
Post-Match Review
What did we tell you, huh? Lacklustre effort to go with a lacklustre match. It's only fitting. With that, the group stages are over, Irador having recovered from a bad start to win the group entirely, bringing forth a coup on Arifiyyah who finished 2nd. They both finished with 10 points, +4 GD and 8 goals scored, but Irador topped the group by a hair due to virtue of defeating Arifiyyah 2-1. Zoran finished 3rd with 7 points and a 0 GD. Us on the other hand came 4th with 7 points and due to that disaster of a match against Irador also ended with a lowly -2 GD. Reçueçn was unable to capitalise, being held to a draw by Italia who got their first point of the tournament too little too late. Reçueçn came 5th with 6 points and Italia finished last with just 1 point.

Next time, eh? A round of 16 match with Larxia, who won Group B and have come off the back of a 5-0 demolition of Fhaengshia who were eliminated due to that and other results.

Larxia opened the first half, and also opened scoring as Messy grounds two defenders and goes above the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 in the 23th minute. Messy makes it 2-0 in the 25th minute with a top-bin curler. The goalkeeper stretches to full but cannot reach the to stop the ball. The Fhaengshians look frustrated. Fernandes passes it to Garcia, who is taken down in the penalty area. You can see the frustration in the coaches expressions as his defenders concede a penalty. Messy lines up to take it. It's in, a panenka from Messy in the 28th minute sees Larxia pull ahead to a 3 goal lead. A hat-trick for Messy, 3 goals in 5 minutes, probably the fastest hat-trick of the World Cup. The rest of the half went by with many close chances for both sides.
Larxia controlled the ball for the most of second half. Fhaengshia almost make it 3-1 in the 54th minute, but Ferrara displays tremendous skill in stopping that shot. It's a corner for Larxia. Messy lobs it in to the penalty area and finds Silva's head. Silva heads it in the 69th minute to make it 4-0. Aviero is taken down just outside the penalty box. A free-kick for Larxia. Messy lines up to take it. If he makes this, it will be 4 goals for Messy in this match. Messy places the ball, about 20 metres away from goal. Messy goes for it. It looks like it will sail over, OhhhMyyyGodd!!!! It dips in at the last moment and sees the back of the net as Messy scores his 4th and Larxia's 5th in the 87th minute. The referee sounds the full time whistle. Larxia have won the game 5 goals to none. The biggest win for Larxia in the World Cup yet. This win cements Larxia's place as Group B winners. The 5 goals difference might hurt Fhaengshia as it puts their goal difference at a -4. Larxia have potentially knocked Fhaengshia out if the Dalimbari manage to win.

In the post match interview with the captain and man of the match, Leo Messy, we asked him how he felt about the victory. He replied with the enthusiasm of a 5 year old," I'm very happy with how the team performed as a whole. Always good to get goals, but 4 of them together will be one of the highlights of my career. It is always great to represent Larxia on an international stage of this calibre. We are quite confident right now. We are sure that we can continue our form and ride this form all the way to the Cup." Larxia will face Hertfordshire and Jammbo, a fellow Andolian nation, next in the 'Round of 16' phase of the tournament. The team for Hertfordshire and Jammbo have been playing well in Group C, but have seen their form deteriorate a little towards the end of the group stages. This is expected to be good fixture and we hope for the best.

Giovanniland has finally won a match, and not just against any team—but rather against Dalimbar, which we've already met in previous sport events such as the 1st Rugby World Cup's third place match and the 2nd Rugby World Cup's Group B."
"In the first half, Giovannilandian striker Klementina de Abreo-Florino opened the score just 7 minutes after the begin. Giustiniano Nottua-Glabrio scored another goal near the end of the first half, at 40 minutes to be exact. Both goals came from counterattacks after failed Dalimbari attempts to score, in which the Giovannilandian defense snatched the ball and then passed it forwards to the fierce strikers." As usual, Vanessa showed images of both goals and some other interesting attempts and defenses for each side.
"The second half of the match, however, was less eventful. Neither side scored any more goals: Dalimbar was desperate to score in order to try drawing the game but had failed attempts resulting in Giovannilandian counterattacks, but the strikers from the Esquadra Nationale failed to capitalize on those chances. In the end, Giovanniland had finally won its first match of the 1st World Cup of Football and now holds the fourth position within Group B, although it must win the last match against Libterraria in order to secure its qualifying chances."
