My friend, politics does come down to exactly "snide comments and bickering" when people do not agree on matters.  Some don't like the uneasy feeling they get when views are expressed openly against their own, and they 'fight' back wiith whatever skills they have.  Some just explode, others start bickering and making sideways comments, and others just curl up and pretend they and their views do not exist. Curiously, one of TWP'S most amazing cultural assets is the old thread hijacking. One needs always expect whatever in any thread.
I could open a new thread about how deliciostrawberriesy ice cream is and see it die 27 pages later as a debate on the topics if abortion and the right to life.

URAP: I can see you how this must be hard for players who are not used to hardpolitiks or realpolitiks in the game - or who don't Like them.
In TWP you can say almost Anything, as long as you realize you will be held responsible for your words and ideas. The Guardians job is in-game protection of the region. In the forum, they don't hold any specific role unless they do so as everyone else, and their in-forum actions are independent from their guardianship role
So, I explain This as a defense to the guardians system - that has not relationship to the political battle that has been occurring lately.
On the other hand, while I can understand how the political battle going on may be hard or uncomfortable for people, but is a consequence of that freedom to speak openly that the region enjoys. That with thread hijacking makes the forums become quite a hot place to navigate, but honestly entertaining to some - I count myself in it honestly.
My whole point to you would perhaps be to try to ignore the banter if it makes you uncomfortable, and to feel free to get involved in collaborating with the region without getting in the realpolitik, if you may. It can get complicated at times but I asure you is possible.

I think foreign affairs is a pivotal point of any region, and if I didn't add it on my platform is mainly cuz I don't have any specific plans to CHANGE anything, instead I want to REVITALIZE it, this is, I want to get our diplomatic team to be both fully active, proficient and empowered. I think the decisions on which regions we should approach and set relations with should be based on a joint effort between the delegacy, the forum government and the general population, to make sure we can work united towards the same regional goals.
About the bicameral legislature with an in-game element, I must remind people often that as TWP is currently established, the in-forum government has no interference over the in-game delegacy and vice-versa. If we REALLY want (we = the general population) then we need to make sure it does not interferes with the setup as it is, or find out if it can be changed. To tell you the truth, I'm not totally comfortable with the idea of in-game legislatures, as they can be more easily manipulated in ways that would allow for foreigner intervention... If we set something like that up, it will require commitment and lots of work from our members to ensure it is no abused!
Mostly, what I want you to understand, is that what I want for TWP is to have an active community and make sure I can empower that community and enable it to have what it wants, without rushing into an environment where activity instead dies down.
