  1. Press Release

From the Office of The Grand Inquisitor of The Sacred Order
    The West Pacific
    February 5, 2020

Greetings to all Friends and Members of The Sacred Order of The West Pacific,
May the Sun shine down upon you with the Abundant Blessings of Max!

As was announced on January 23, 2020, Reformation of The Sacred Order was Initiated by The Grand Inquisitor.
And now the time has come for the Three Phases of Reform to begin:

    Phase One: Reformation
    Phase Two: Reorganization
    Phase Three: Ascension

High upon the Sacred Mountain, The Grand Inquisitor entered his mountaintop retreat to meditate and prepare for the coming Reformation. As Betelgeuse dims in Orion and the Sacred Numbers aligned in the first Palindrome Day in 909 years on 02/02/2020, a day of Wealth, Abundance, and New Beginnings, The Universe provided ample Confirmations and Agreements that the time of Reformation has arrived. That time is Today, a Master Number day on the Calendar.

"I, Westwind, Grand Inquisitor of The Sacred Order of the West Pacific, hereby Invoke the Fourteenth of the The Thirty-Six Stratagems of Ancient China; Jiè shī huán hún (借屍還魂/借尸还魂):"

"Take an institution, a technology, a method, or even an ideology that has been forgotten or discarded ....
..Revive something from the past by giving it a new purpose or bring to life old ideas, customs, or traditions and reinterpret them..."

The Sacred Order of The West Pacific was built upon Foundations and Ideals that pre-date The Sacred Order. Thus, The Seven Concepts shall remain in our Heart through this Reformation:

The Guidance of Max and Admin
    The Primacy of Game Mechanics
The Authorities of Delegates and Founders
The Sovereignty of Regions and Nations
The Rights and Obligations of Rebellion
The Necessity of Activity in it's Many Forms
The Harmonies and Diversities of Communities

All with Respect and Thankfulness for NationStates Creator Max Barry, the Beneficent actions of his Administrators and Moderators, and all Players that have Enlivened the Spirit of the Game.

Today, I announce the Phase One Reformation.
From this time forward we shall no longer be known as The Sacred Order of The West Pacific, and today restore our Foundations as,

    The Crimson Order

    Phase One Reformation:

    1. The Sacred Order, while no longer an organization with membership, shall remain in our Hearts, in recognition of the Many Orders of NationStates that adhere (formally or informally) to The Seven Concepts.

    2. The Crimson Order, being Inter-regional in scope, shall no longer append "of The West Pacific", or any other regional name to it's designation, except in cases where a Local Regional Membership or Individual Membership may append the name of the Region in which they reside.

    3. The Grand Inquisitor of The Sacred Order is hereby Reformed and Restored as The Crimson King.

    4. The Crimson Order shall be Reorganized in Phase Two by Decree of The Crimson King.

    5. All Members in Good Standing of The Sacred Order are now Members of The Crimson Order.

    6. All titles of The Sacred Order are hereby Translated to The Crimson Order, until otherwise Reformed in Phase Two.

    7. Members-in-Waiting shall attain Ascension to The Crimson Order in Phase Three.

Thank you for your kind attention and May the Blessings of Max and ADMIN be upon you!

    Press Release

From the Office of The Grand Inquisitor of The Sacred Order
    The West Pacific
    January 23, 2020

Greetings to all Friends and Members of The Sacred Order of The West Pacific!

It is my privilege to announce to you today that a long overdue overhaul and impending Reformation of The Sacred Order has been initiated by this Office.

Under consideration of The Grand Inquisitor are a number of Reforms, as The Sacred Order looks forward into the new Decade in NationStates. These Reforms will be announced as they are implemented. Reforms will aim to bring greater relevance, recognition and organization to The Sacred Order, as well as to modernize membership and purpose in alignment with the current State of The Game of NationStates.

The Foundations of the Ideals of The Sacred Order will remain true: The Primacy of NationStates Game Mechanics, The Sovereignty of Individual Nations, The Inherent Authorities of Delegates and Founders, and The Necessity of Activity.

Cardinals, Knights, and all members of The Sacred Order of The West Pacific, are hereby given Official Notice of The Impending Reformation of The Sacred Order.

    A bit of history.

The Sacred Order of The West Pacific Imperium was announced six years ago on February 11, 2014, in order to provide a theme for the Imperium Government of The West Pacific under Grand Inquisitor and Delegate All Good People. That change was unanimously ratified by The Holy Grand Assembly of the West on February 22, 2014.

"Take a look at the use of a theme in Lazarus as a recent example.  Or look to the longevity of the NPO.  Or the successful works to bring activity to a dead NationStates with The Crimson Order and others.  Look to our fellow GCRs.  In addition to Lazarus and The Pacific; Balder has its Nordic theme, Osiris has its Egyptian theme.  The Rejected Realms has it's defender focus, and The East Pacific has adopted defenderism along with its Masonic backgrounds and long history of RolePlay.  The South Pacific focuses on it's form of Democracy and widening it's military activity.  The North Pacific is a bastion of legislation, legalism, and debate."

Following the Delegacy of [nation]All Good People[/nation], the Sacred Order of The West Pacific continued as a non-governmental entity within The West Pacific, with relationships that extend outside of the region. This continues to be the status of The Sacred Order today, while The West Pacific has progressed through time into the Imperial China theme that was announced by then Emperor and Delegate [nation]The Holy Principality of Saint Mark[/nation] one year ago tomorrow, January 24, 2019.

A listing of the Membership, Titles, and Organization of The Sacred Order of The West Pacific as it exists prior to Reformation can be reviewed here:

  3. Thanks for the link, I'd thought that there was an announcement, but did not find it.  I figured the appointment would be listed in the Hall of Peers though.

Often times new forums are requested without posting rights in the first place, and then opened to the public later. I've been wondering why no one requested posting  permissions be granted there since last March, but RL was rather busy back then for me, and as an involuntary Admin, I mind my own business unless the Admin team needs help. Might want to put in an Admin request if you want Peers to be able to post in there.

    :tiphat:

  4. As a member of the Hall of Peers, I have a couple questions.  I am unable to ask them in the Hall itself, as posting is restricted there (even for Admins).

    1. Shouldn't posting rights be granted to Peers to post in their Chambers? There's been no posts or discussions beyond the Delegate's Spring 2019 announcements as a result.

    2. The Manners of The West Pacific state:

    1. Quote

The Chancellor of The Hall of Peers is appointed by The Delegate, serves at the Delegate’s pleasure and leads the actions of this Hall. The Chancellor also votes with the other peers.

Who is The Chancellor of The Hall of Peers? I'm not finding any appointment noted.

    3. Is the current list of Peers up to date?

It just seems that the Peers will have a difficult time carrying out their Manners prescribed duties, should the need or desire arise, without a Chancellor or posting rights.

  5. Once upon a time in NationStates, failure to clear the citizenship rolls of inactive members became a problem.

Entropy of Activity in NationStates is a problem that arises over and over again.  No matter how dynamic and active a region's community may be, activity eventually wanes, folks are distracted by RL, and Regional Officials get burn-out. Citizen/Players fade away.

Then newer players with their own ideas of activity come along. They find the inactivity of the existing citizenry boring.  So they write and present new Legislation to be voted upon, to shape the region with new activity that interests them.

The ideas come up for a vote, and those old inactive citizens that haven't posted in months come out of the woodwork to vote, and they vote against the new player's legislation. The idea dies.

Inactivity is thus perpetuated, and the frustrated new players go elsewhere.

To combat this phenomena of the 'Old Guard' coming out to vote when they are  otherwise inactive, Regions began to establish Activity Requirements to ensure that voting citizens are actively engaged in the regional community.

Posting requirements can be more important for Regional Officials as well. Once upon a time, there were requirements for Ministers and Deputies to post no less than every other day, and requirements to post a notice and assign a deputy if a Minister will be absent for longer than a couple days.

Activity begets Activity in NS, while the Entropy of Activity is the corrosive rust that destroys regions and communities.

I have cross-stitch art and Salish style painting of Orca in my home. The Salish say that when a Tribal Chief dies, he is reborn as an Orca. In the 90's I had a friend that went on a Vision Quest, and afterwards had a Salish Beaver totem pole in his front yard, as that was what he found was his totem on his Quest.

Although, when I was young, I was fond of Owls.

"The Owls are not what they seem." - Twin Peaks

However, there are two Cats, one Bird, and an aquarium full of Fish living in my home. I've always enjoyed cats since my first cat Mia when I was a toddler. My cats today are getting old like me, one is an arthritic 15, the other will be a chubby 12 next month.

While there weren't always cats around in my life, there were always birds.First there were the Budgies in the '60's, then in the early 70's I bred Sacred White Doves. The Blackfeet sent Sacred White Dove feathers with their Warriors, as they represented protection and a safe return from battle. These are also the white doves magicians like to use in their acts.  The male doves coo, while the female doves laugh at them. Then In the '80's, I bred and raised other birds, and I was the founder and first editor of the Kansas Avicultural Society Magazine. Today I have a 5 year old female Pineapple Conure that may well outlive me, as their lifespan is roughly 35 years.

As for the fish, my maternal Grandfather came to visit when I was in the 4th grade and he took me fishing in the Paha Sapa (Black Hills). To commemorate our trip, he bought an aquarium for me when he left. And I've had an aquarium ever since. Sometimes fresh water fish, sometimes salt water fish. There are roughly 40 fish in my tank today.
