Official Communique from the office of King James to the office of Prince Marcarius

Dear Friend,

I am really sorry for not responding to your invitation to drink tea in each other's company. I was a little busy with the final formalities of the transfer to complete monarchy. Coming back to the topic at point.

It has been brought to my attention that our nations are pitted against each other in a bid to secure qualification on the last day of the Super 8 matches. I believe this match will be extremely fun to watch together, so I want to invite you to La Marina, to watch the last game of the Super 8 stages. As for your invitation for tea, I would request you to let me play host in my country, and would like to invite you to my beach-side estate in La Marina, and later the Windlar Castle in New Larxia. We can sit and enjoy each other's company, while we enjoy the tea. You can come here tomorrow, to watch the Larxia v/s Saint Mark game, and then stay here for 5 days, and leave after the finals. I believe it will be an interesting game, as both the teams will be dead-set on securing the qualification for the semi-finals.

I am once again sorry for not replying to your invitation sooner. Please confirm your attendance at your earliest convenience.

Yours truly,

King James of Larxia

The evening found Prince Marcarius in his study reviewing some pending legislation. A glass of Royal Heritage Special Anniversary Very Old Tawny sat next to the late edition of The Markan Mail. The crackling fire was a delightful contrast to the howling storm hammering at the windows. A soft knock on the door broke his concentration.

"Come in."

"Your Serene Highness," began Howard Gresham as he entered and bowed. "I'm sorry to disturb you, but this invitation from the Larxian king has just arrived by courier."

Crossing the room soundlessly on the thick rug, the prince's Private Secretary handed the letter to the prince, who took it and looked it over.

"Hmm ... that would entail pushing up our plans and flying out to Larxia tonight."

"Yes, sir. What excuse would you like to give?"

"Excuse? Oh, no, Howard, I would like to attend. I've just been reading how our team has been fighting for their lives ... fantastic skills, but variable focus. I should like to give them my support. This next match is crucial. Also, I have yet to meet King James. He seems like a fascinating fellow ... taking his nation in a new direction. Yes, I would like to attend. Please send our acceptance and make the arrangements. The crew of the RAF Gryphon is top-notch. I'm unconcerned about the weather."

"Yes, sir," Gresham replied as he backed out of the study.

Hurrying down the corridor, he muttered to himself, "Holy One be with us! The prince may not be concerned, but someone needs to be!"

Following the Blues

"Welcome back viewers, to another episode of Following the Blues, where we keep you up to date with the T20 World Cup, and give you a behind the scenes of the Dressing Room."

"Larxia faced Herftordia in their second match of the Group A of the Super 8 stage. Both the teams were looking to win and ensure of a place in the semi-finals. Unfortuntely, Larxia were unable to beat Hertfordia. Now Larxia will have to win their next game against Saint Mark at all costs.

Larxia v/s Hertfordia

Hertfordia won the toss and chose to bowl first. Kohli was visibly unhappy at the fact that Larxia would have to bat first, because the pitch looked like it would support the batsmen in the second innings more.

The match started as Kohli and Sharma came down to bat. They started off the game at a respectable pace, scoring 39 runs in the first 6 overs. In the next two overs, Kohli lost his wicket, scoring 22 runs, making the score 60/1 in 8 overs. de Villiers got out after 3 overs, scoring 13 runs, taking the score to 82/2 in 11 overs. From here the Larxian batting started collapsing, as in just 4 overs, Larxia lost 4 wickets, making the score 107/6 in 15 overs. Sharma managed to save his wicket, as he saw the whole inning through. Sharma got out on the last ball of the innings, scoring a total of 101 runs, ending the Larxian innings at 153/7.

There was a break of 20 minutes for the players to rest. The spectators rushed to the different kiosks to be ready for the second inning.

The second inning started as the two Hertfordian openers made their way to the middle. They were very motivated to ensure a progression to the semi-finals. Hertfordia had a very rocky start to their innings as they managed a score of 45/4 in 7 overs. After losing the 4 wickets, the Hertfordian batsmen somehow salvaged their innings, as they went on to win the match in only 18.1 overs, losing only two more wickets as they went. Bumrah was the best bowler for Larxia, registering figures of 4-28 , while Rabada took the other two wickets, registering figures of 2-31.

The losing captain was interviewed first, followed by the winning captain. The man-of-the-match award was won by a Hertfordian player. He was given a little trophy and a cheque for 20,000 dollars.

The Larxian Team will be asking themselves what went wrong in today's match against Hertfordia, in a bid to improve in time for the Larxia v/s Saint Mark death match. The winning team will qualify for the semi-finals, while the losing team will have to bid adieu to their chances of winning the trophy.

May 18, 1421 5:45 PM IAT; right after the Cambrian captain was interviewed

Albrekktson gave Kane Finch a dap and a pound hug after he was interviewed. Before the interviewer could asked a question, Albrekktson started, "Our hearts and thoughts to everyone in Cambria, especially to what happened. Props to the Cambrian team for coming out to play, and playing strong with us today despite of what happened."

"We were lucky there at the end," Albrekktson replied when asked about the final outcome of the game. "If there was another over played," he continued, "they could've won the game easily. This stage has brought the best eight teams, and of course, everyone's bringing their A-game and doing their best, and that there should be no complacency towards any opponents even if we're leading as long as we are still playing."

"The coaching staff were looking at the scenarios last night," Albrekktson answered about the team going forward and advancing to the knock-outs, "and while we got 2 wins here in Super Eight, we're hoping Nieubasria win their last two games, regardless of the outcome of our game with the Fhaengshians. We dislike having to tie with the others as we know everyone will be in a sticky position, and that feeling that you gave your best in this tournament, only to be eliminated because of a tiebreaker. So yeah, the team does not like the idea tying with the other teams."

Larxian Meteorological Department Headquarters, Nexilia

Andreas Mingo was a scientist who worked in the Meteorological Department of the Larxian Ministry of Earth Sciences. He was one of the team leaders assigned to different meteorological aspects in and around Larxia. He had a team of 19 people under his command. Their job, to look out for any hurricanes manifesting in the Infinite World Ocean's little Falcon Sea off the coast of Larxia.

They had been keeping a close eye on the neighbouring temperature and pressure systems since the last few days. They hadair abo noticed some unusual movement in the sea, but they did not have enough compelling data to order any kind of evacuation, and they couldn't do it without sufficient data, because evacuation would lead to massive financial losses to the country.

That is when the people present in the room saw it, the air system above the Falcon Sea showed signs of a hurricane in its initial stages. They observed it as it moved a little, to map a probable path of the hurricane, and to determine the point of landfall.

Andreas immediately contacted the head of LMD, Marco Silva, to inform him about the hurricane manifesting in the Falcon Sea.

"Sir, there is a very dangerous hurricane taking shape in the Falcon Sea. It might lead to many deaths if the people are not evacuated as soon as possible."

"What do you know till now?"

"We believe that the hurricane will move towards Larxia, with speeds more than 250 km/h. We have plotted a probable course for the hurricane, and it is going very close to the capital."

"When do we expect landfall?"

"From the data we have gotten, we believe landfall to be in the night of 22nd May, around 12 AM, so 22nd or 23rd May, but we expect heavy rains and strong winds from 21st May."

"That is not good. There is a World Cup final taking place in New Larxia."

"Sir the stadium is in the northern part of the city, we don't believe that the stadium will be affected, except the little rain it will experience a day or two before. We will have to evacuate the southern areas of the city, and ask the citizens living in the northern parts to be on a high alert. This can be very devastating. We will also need to evacuate the 300 kilometres southwards of New Larxia. "

"Yes. I am sure the King will understand. Also, Mingo, do we need to deploy military?"

"We might have to, but that is not my call to take. Just tell the King that military help might be needed."

"I will relay the message to the King. Send me the map of the course of the Hurricane."

"Yes Sir, and we're calling it Hurricane Valeria."

"Nice name. Send it quickly."

"Yes Sir right away."

Andreas hung up, and immediately sent a file up to Silva's office. He was very unsettled, because he knew that it was going to be very difficult to evacuate those people, amid the heavy downpour, and the strong gusts of winds. He just hoped that there was as little human damages as possible.

The Probable Course of the Hurricane Valeria, charted by LMD on 19th May 1421

RAF Gryphon: Gryphon 1 to Ground, we are approaching northwest circling around the worst of the storm and requesting clearance to land.

Control: Ground to Gryphon 1, you are either very brave or very crazy. You are cleared for immediate landing on runway C.

Ninety minutes later, Prince Marcarius was relaxing with a cup of tea in his suite, Howard Gresham was finalizing the schedule on the secure phone with King James' secretary, and the crew of the RAF Gryphon was beginning a well-deserved, one week vacation.

"We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to bring to you, this urgent message from the office of His Highness, King James of Larxia," a speaker said, as the screen turned to the official insigna of the Monarchy of Larxia, on every television screen around Larxia, and every channel.

King James appeared on the screen. He stood in front of the camera, a podium in front of him. He started his announcement.

"Citizens of Larxia, there is a deadly hurricane heading towards the Capital. So this announcement is mainly for the areas around the New Larxia. This hurricane is expected to be very destructive, and it is expected to hit New Larxia in the early hours of 23rd May. We will be evacuating the southern parts of the capital, and everything to the south-west of the capital. The people living in the northern side of the capital won't be very adversely affected, but I would suggest that you still maintain the precautions, which will be released by the LMD shortly. The people who are supposed to evacuate, I would suggest you make back-packs of essential stuff, like important documents, water, food, etc. The Central Reserve Forces will be deployed to help the citizens, to provide a safe passage to safety. I want to request each and every one of you to be helpful towards the others, be accommodating. We all need to get through this safe. I understand that there will be a lot of structural damage, but that can be rebuilt eventually, but humanitarian loss can never be repaid. I am looking to each and every citizen of Larxia, and entrust you with the responsibility of helping each other, even after the storm has passed, because that will be when the real work begins. The government can only provide the seed, but the citizens will have to ensure that it grows into an even stronger tree. Lastly I turn to the citizens who won't be affected by this hurricane, to donate whatever you can, to help your fellow Larxia brothers and sisters. We have a plan for rebuilding, that will be put into effect after the hurricane has passed, and we can review the damage caused. I would suggest that everyone start the evacuation immediately. Leave immediately if you can, take your cars, bikes and leave the areas. Both the sides of the highways will only be opened for people going out. All 8 lanes will be reserved for people leaving the city. There will be special buses arranged from the morning of 20th May, courtesy of NLMT, the bus-operator in New Larxia. That is all I have to say for now. Good-bye, and take care in these tough times."

The screen cut back to the regular programs, as the Larxians sensed a bit of fear in the King's statement. The families started panicking and packing simultaneously. There were many infants and toddlers, and the first-time parents were extremely scared about their children. Many people packed and left in their cars. The 8 lanes were not enough for the people, as we saw a traffic surge on the highways leaving Larxia. The cars were a bit slowed down, but they were moving at a respectable pace in the traffic as well. At least they knew that they would make it out in time.

Coach Waterman stood facing the room while the team took their seats.

"As you may have heard, His Serene Highness has rearranged his busy schedule just so that he can personally attend our critical next match against Larxia. I know I don't have to tell you what an honor this is. We are at the top of our game. We will concentrate, play smart, and win this match!"

The team cheered and Waterman smiled and raised his hand for quiet.

"Your Captain tells me that you have something to say about the awful storm that has slammed into our host's country. Egleston ... ?"

The team captain rose and turned to face the room.

"Yes, Coach. At the suggestion of several of the team, and after discussion with everyone, we have all agreed to donate whatever we earn from endorsements during the next month to the hurricane relief fund. In addition, Hunter's family is organizing a fundraiser, collecting donations from Saint Mark for every run we score."

"Good show! I'm proud of this team. You are a fine group ... and maybe it'll also give us a little added incentive to do well! He laughed and the team joined him.

Rahul Menaria stood in the training grounds, facing his team.

"Lads, His Highness, King Mad- no, wait, King James, still haven't gotten used to it, is gonna be in the attendance for our match against Saint Mark. As we all know, this game is probably the most important game in your lives. You need to win to qualify, and I am confident of your capabilities. Also remember, that accompanying King Mad- James, will be the ruler of Saint Mark, Prince Marcarius, so I believe this match has turned into a serious competition, with the winner getting the bragging rights, so I expect y'all to do your best, and ensure that you make it to New Larxia, on the 24th of May."

"Coach, we're concerned about the storm coming towards New Larxia. Some of our families live in the capital, and we need to be ensured that our family makes it out safely," Kohli said.

"Don't worry, the King has already communicated to me that he has invited every one of your families to watch y'all play. He will be arriving in La Marina in 2 hours in the LAFalc-one, with the families living in New Larxia, and has arranged flights for the other's families as well. You guys just focus on the game, don't worry about anything else. Be your best self tomorrow, and stay focused. No one can possibly stop you," Menaria replied, reassuringly.

"Also, coach, we are some of the highest earning individuals in the country, so, after deliberation and discussion, the whole team has decided to donate their salaries earned from this tournament, and what we will possibly earn in the remaining days of the tournament, to the hurricane relief fund. After the tournament is over, we will auction off our match-worn jerseys, and equipment in order to raise more money for the relief effort," Kohli told Menaria, as everyone nodded in agreement.

"I'm glad that you are thinking about your fellow Larxians. You know what? I'll also contribute to this campaign of yours. I'll donate every penny earned from this tournament to the relief fund," Menaria said, a glint of respect and pride in his eyes.

LAFalc-one: LAFalc-one to control. We are approaching the La Marina International Airport. Do we have clearance to land?

Control tower: LAFalc-one, this is control, all the runways are being used, please circle at 20,000 feet for some time.

LAFalc-one:Roger. Circling at 20,000 feet.

Controller 1 (holding a hand over the mic): Look at that two royal aircrafts in a day. Who would have thought?

Controller 2 (trying to do his job): Yeahhh. Exciting. (turning back to his panel) Yes circle at 30,000 feet, we will give the signal.

Control tower: LAFalc-one, you are cleared to land on runway one-two. I repeat, you are cleared to land on runway one-two.

LAFalc-one: Roger that. Beginning descent, preparing to land on runway one-two.

The LAFalc-one landed, and was taxied to the hangar, where a sleek black unidentifiable car stood waiting for the King and his family members, to escort them to the estate in La Marina, where the King would get ready to welcome Prince Marcarius of Saint Mark. He was there in La Marina, away from the danger, but he had an underlying feeling, that was not good, to say the least.

Royal Ballet Choreographer Resigns After Poor Reception
“the stage is too busy, too clever with steps, and there are moments where Dennault needs to give his choreography a chance to breathe.”” wrote Ascelin Owen in her review.

Choreographer Thereimy Dennault has resigned from the Prince Owain III Chair for Excellence in Ballet Choreography, a position often referred to as the "Royal Ballet Choreographer" at the Basric Ballet Company after his third consecutive poorly-received show. Dennault, once lauded as an up-and-comer for his 'progressive' view of the art has found himself the target of anti-contemporarists that characterize his work as "unfocused", "fussy", and "too clever by half".

The Saint Aiaden Arts Review was scathing. “Everything that is vapid and dreadful about contemporary ballet is present and correct,” wrote Hilda Dudda in her review. “Repetitive score based on arpeggios and ground bass; greige set with abstract light projections; complicated but banal ‘neo-classical’ choreography that even Basric Ballet principals struggle to display to advantage; and startling and tasteless gymnastic feats.” And despite having asserted early in her discussion of the piece that “the less said about Thereimy Dennault’s Vei a  Telaleimos the better,” she goes on to write: “The dancers make a game stab at it, like the top-class professionals they are, but only explosive Iwain Pan and pantherine Ida Morgan manage to strike sparks from this wet material … Let’s see no more of this, please.”

Some reactions to the news have speculated the extend of the Royal Household in Dennault's decision, given the direct connection of the Chair for Excellence to the Palace, though no comments have been made by any Palace officials. Others have called this a death knell for ballet in modern Basria and claim this signals a return to the rigid classics and stern discipline of 13th century ballet.

Isaac Myroshnychenko - Spare a thought for this poor sod. If anyone on this team has had a traumatic past, it is him. For moral reasons we won't get into it but the point of the matter is he seems to have moved on from it quite well, judging by his solid performance against the hosts in this match.

Rago Niedra - What is it with Rago and constantly getting onto the scoresheet? We're starting to think at this point that our standout player is showing himself. It isn't decided yet, though when this is all said and done we will be comparing all the players to see who truly put in the best work. Seriously though, if Rago continues to perform like this, people are actually going to start following his Black Sun cult.

Derek Sokolov - The surgeon has returned from duty to make a slight impact on the match. Managing 13 runs, he might be destined for an unlucky day in the operating theatre in the near future. Either that or he'll mysteriously receive a bakers dozen of something. Let's hope neither occurs.

Đe Kaiser - The Emperor is back, and attempting to reclaim his former glory! For those who somehow haven't caught on, the name 'Đe Kaiser' translates to 'The Emperor'. Fitting in his heyday when he was actively dominating the sports of both cricket and boxing. Unfortunately he couldn't grasp the concept of retirement and continued on until his age finally became too much of a handicap, thus causing him to fall from grace in a spectacular way. Pretty much doomed in the boxing scene after infamously losing to a bunch of secondary school kids, the T20 World Cup of cricket is the last chance he has of restoring some honour to the legend that he once was.

Dynamis Dudka - Just as we asked this same rhetorical question pertaining to Rago, what is it with Dynamis and constantly getting onto the scoresheet? This one is less impressive, but somehow he manages to make it on even when having a bad performance. Call us crazy, but we might actually be starting to believe in the 'will of the heavens'. If anyone is watching who is a mental health practitioner, note down the names 'Damian Hadjiev, Frank Wezapad, Yoshikage Ķile' just in case we do need such a thing. If Dynamis is actually right about this then colour us shocked.

Robert Cherganski - Welcome back this person to the scoresheet. He is someone who you can never really be sure about. Is he always there or never there? Either way, Robert is someone so gentlemanly, you'd think he was from Saint Mark. But he isn't, which only proves that us lot from Hertfordshire and Jammbo are the 'gentleman of the countryside'. There are many more like him in the confederal kingdom.

Yomiel Stasyuk - The dead man walking. The statement to the left is false. The statement to the left is true. The statement to the right is true. We are probably struggling for good ideas at this point. As if we'd stop trying, that is not something we shall do. Besides, it's not as if Yomiel done much. He didn't need to, for the match was as good as won by the time he came on to bat arrived.

Diego Adamov - Not much to say. He came on near the end, earned 1 run, then immediately rushed back off the pitch before his coffee (blend #107) got cold.

This makes our situation even better than it already was. This win over Larxia marks not only the first defeat for the hosts in this tournament, but also grants Hertfordshire and Jammbo a spot in the Semi-Finals. HNDK are the first team to qualify for the next round and because of the head-to-head rule in the tiebreakers section, neither Larxia or Saint Mark can overtake them anymore. Combined with the fact that it is mathematically impossible for Zoran to catch up in the Group 1 table, it means that HNDK have won the group and will be using the final matchday of the Super 8 to see which teams will fill the other 3 Semi-Final slots remaining. When it comes to the performance, captain Faust won the toss and wisely chose to bowl, given the condition of the pitch. This certainly was much to the chagrin of Larxia's own Kohli. Larxia started well on bat, making it 82/2 at the 11th over. But then it started to fall apart as the vast expanse of quality from our fielders shone through with multiple managing to get at least 1 wicket. Faust and Patrick were the standout performers though they didn't stand out much, such was the collectively powerful effort that went in to silencing the Larxian batting regime. 20 minutes pass for the break between innings, after HNDK dismissed the maximum number of Larxian batters. Once the second innings arrived and HNDK had to bat, it soon became apparent that they were in a parallel yet opposite situation to the opponents. With just 45 runs scored in 7 overs, the likes of Derek, Kaiser, Dynamis and Robert all fell to the bowling of Larxian duo Bumrah and Rabada. From there however, HNDK went on a rampage scoring a further 112/2 to win the game with 1.9 overs remaining (11 bats). The man of the match was none other than Isaac Myroshnychenko, who received a small trophy thing that he will likely show his father when the team return home after the tournaments closure. Some money came too, but he agreed with coach Maxie and assistant coach Eirin to hand it over to funds pertaining to preventing casualties for the upcoming Storm Valeria set to hit New Larxia, the capital of the country that ours defeated in the cricket match being reported on right now. Now onto upcoming matches, and for Larxia this next one is crucial. They will be battling Saint Mark who also lost to Hertfordshire and Jammbo. King James of Larxia and Prince Marcarius of Saint Mark will be in attendance, plus rumours are going around that Tsar Mečislavs (just using this title only to avoid confusion with the local monarch) will also attend on his own, marking the first time he and Prime Minister Clarkov haven't gone to a T20 World Cup match together. In Group 2 things are very interesting. Although United Adaikes have the commanders seat in that group, being the ones to inflict on Cambria their first defeat (in the midst of a terrible event so no blaming Cambria for not being full on), any team could qualify for the next round. Not to mention that the Astoric Derby is coming up, where the fates of the T20 World Cup runs of both Cambria and Nieubasria are at stake. It seems certain that one will have to be sacrificed to the abyss of elimination. Without further ado, the results of the most recent matchday. You know the style by now.

Following the Blues

"Welcome back to another episode of Following the Blues, where we bring to you, news related to the Larxian team in the T20 World Cup, and behind the scenes of the Larxian setup."

"Welcome viewers. Today we will talk about the match between Larxia and Saint Mark. The game was crucial for both the teams, as this game was gonna determine who would progress to the semi-finals. With Their Highnesses, King James and Prince Marcarius in attendance, the Larxian team managed to best Saint Mark, in what is now being deemed as the Derby Real. Larxia beat Saint Mark by 8 wickets, to book a place in the semi-finals."

Larxia v/s Saint Mark

Kohli won the toss, and he decided that Larxia were going to bowl first. On being asked about the decision, he said, "This pitch was made to bowl first. It just makes sense, considering the weather conditions that come with today."

The match started as two Saint Markan openers made their way to the middle. They were very motivated to perform their best, as the winner would get bragging rights, but most importantly, a spot in the semi-finals. The presence of their monarch seemed to have a rather different effect on them, as their batting line-up started collapsing. The Larxians on the other hand, were also motivated to win, for the spot in the semi-finals, but mainly because every match they played, they could earn more salary to donate to the relief fund. The bowlers started out really well, as at the end of 8 overs, Saint Mark had only managed a score of 49/4. They lost another 5 wickets in the next 9 overs, taking the score to 115/9. The Saint Markan tail-enders somehow managed to hold their own in the last three overs, as they took their team to a respectable total of 136/9. The Larxian bowlers were amazing, as Bumrah bagged a five-wicket haul, registering figures of 5-16. Boult was the other amazing bowler, who claimed the remaining 4 wickets, registering figures of 4-21. The Saint Markan batsmen collapsed under the pressure from the Bumrah-Boult duo. Bumrah has been bowling really well, and is being touted as the best bowler of the tournament.

There was a 20 minute break in between the innings. The spectators flocked towards kiosks, but one kiosk that saw the most traffic, was put up by a non-profit, that was raising money for the Storm Valeria. It was the epitome of human goodness, as people donated for the cause. This showed that humanity was still a huge factor in people's lives.

The game resumed as Kohli and Sharma made their way to the middle. They started us off at break-neck pace, scoring 53 runs in 6 overs. They racked up a partnership of 89 runs, when Kohli got out, scoring 46 runs, making the score 89/1 in 9 overs. de Villiers came in to replace Kohli in the middle. He played with Sharma, as they both managed to add another 20 runs to the total, when de Villiers got out, scoring 12 runs, making the score 109/2 in 11 overs. Buttler replaced de Villiers in the middle. Sharma retained strike as he started power-hitting, as he added another 20 runs, taking the score to 129/2 in 13 overs. Larxia needed only 8 more runs to win in 7 overs. Buttler took the strike in the 14th over. Buttler struggled a little to see the  match through. He missed the first ball, missed the second ball, took a single on the third ball, Sharma took a single on the fourth ball. On the fifth ball of the 14th over, Buttler had strike, as he swung his bat, and dispatched it for a huge six, as the ball scaled the stadium, and fell on the main road outside the stadium. He had done it. Larxia had won the Derby Real, and the team qualified for the semi-finals. Sharma contributed with another important innings, scoring 72 runs in total.

The losing captain was interviewed first, followed by the winning captain. Bumrah was declared the man-of-the-match. He was given a little trophy and a cheque for 20,000 dollars, which he pledged to the Relief Fund.

The Larxian team would be very happy with their victory today, and will enjoy this win tonight, but they will get back to work tomorrow, for the semi-finals against United Adaikes the day after. They will be aware that they need to work even harder, now that they are in the semi-finals, and the Storm Valeria is an added motivation for them to perform harder. They had seen how happy the King was when they won the Derby Real, and they didn't know why, but it filled each and every one of them, as the King stood in his box, clapping for the performance given by them.

The match did not go as Saint Mark had hoped, but that's how it is sometimes.

During the match, Prince Marcarius and King James enjoyed discussing the play-by-play and good-natured ribbing.
After it finished, the prince stood and shook hands with the king.

"Congratulations, King James. Your team played quite well. Thank you for your kind hospitaity and I look forward to touring your palace and joining in your box again for the finals"

20th May, 1421

King James reached the King Julius International Stadium. He was escorted to his personal viewing box. The box was prepared for the King and his guest, Prince Marcarius of Saint Mark. King James sat in his box, waiting for Prince Marcarius to arrive. After around a half hour, Prince Marcarius arrived, and King James stood to shake his hands.

"Welcome to Larxia, my friend. How are you liking it so far?" King Maddy inquired as he welcomed Prince Marcarius.

"Thank you for your kind invitation, James. The flight was a little touch and go through the storm, but we made it in one piece, thanks to my expert flight crew. Although I've only seen it through the windows of my automobile so far, Larxia looks like a beautiful country. It's my first time here. I hope to see more of it ... once the storm passes, of course," Prince Marcarius said, in response to King James' question.

"Haha. You have a good flight crew, no doubt about it. My pilots also had a hard time taking-off from New Larxia. Have a seat, the match will be beginning in some time. So tell me, Marcarius, how is everything in Saint Mark?"

"Saint Mark is doing well, James. We look forward to showcasing our excellent cricketeering in today's match!"

"That is amazing to hear, and so do we. Look the two captains have come out for the toss. Oh! Looks like Larxia won the toss. I cannot wait to see your players bat"

A server entered the box at this point and said, "Good sirs, would you like something to drink? We have a top of the line Larxian whiskey, Royal Prestige, aged 71 years, with a hint of oak. We also have the Royal Heritage Very Old Tawny from Saint Mark, aged 40 years, if you would prefer that."

"Get both the bottles, and 4 glasses. Let us have a good-natured competition. What do you say?" King James said as he looked at Prince Marcarius for a response.

"I would enjoy sampling your Larxian whiskey. Thank you kindly," Prince Marcarius replied.

After the end of first innings

"So what do you think about the score they put up Marcarius. How do you fancy your chances?" King James asked Prince Marcarius amid their good-natured banter"

"Unfortunately, Saint Mark doesn't look to be on the top of their game today, James. Your Larxians are playing superbly, however! I believe the day will be yours, friend," Prince Marcarius said in reply to the harmless banter.

After the match ended

Larxia won the match, much to the pleasure of King James. He had enjoyed watching the game with Prince Marcarius. There was good-natured ribbing involved, and he felt that they had become even closer friends.

Prince Marcarius stood and shook hands with King James, offering his congratulations. He said,"Congratulations, King James. Your team played quite well. Thank you for your kind hospitality and I look forward to touring your palace and joining in your box again for the finals."

King James replied,"Thank you friend. It was fun watching the game with you. I look forward to more of the good-natured banter in the finals. I believe we should leave now. I will be accompanying the team to San Dojas. What do you have planned?"

"Well, we have some time before we rejoin you at your palace and again for the finals, so I have arranged some meetings with a couple of the other world leaders. It won't be all work, though. I will be touring a bit of your countryside and visiting a couple of your fine vineyards! I have brought my vitner along. He is interested in experimenting with some of your varietals on Markan terroir."

"Well, I would suggest you visit Las Huertas, 100 km away. It is a beautiful town, with many orchards, but most importantly, the route from La Marina to Las Huertas is one of the most scenic routes in Larxia. I am sure you will enjoy the view."

"That is an excellent suggestion James. I will tell my assistant to arrange a trip to Las Huertas," Prince Marcarius said as he took his leave.

Patchouli Knalide - Everyone's favourite anaemic librarian. If anyone questions why a blatantly sick person was allowed into HNDK, then eat your words this instant because she's only gone and broken the record for most runs by a HNDK player this tournament. She might just have scored the most runs out of any player during a match in the T20 World Cup full stop. Earning a century is hard enough, let alone breaking at least 1 record. Hats off to the Unmoving Great Library!

Isaac Myroshnychenko - This is the midget of HNDK & considering that they have Hammond on the team this is saying something. Perhaps that is why after 15 bats he finally got dismissed, his smol legs simply couldn't take him the distance. Oh wait, he was caught out. This is slightly awkward for us in the editing room.

Robert Cherganski - This man seems rich, he is actually poor. He seems perfectly normal, he has a habit of twirling around which is abnormal. Never mind all that, he put in a very decent performance on the pitch. 40 runs is not bad at all, too bad Patchouli had to blow everyone out of the water in HNDK's clobbering of Zoran.

Diego Adamov - Meet the new performance, same as the old performance. Much like last time, this man came on right near the end, scored a few runs and then popped right off again to finish his favourite blend of coffee. He drinks 17 cups of coffee a day, you kno...

tumblr_static_color_tv_bars_no_signal-other-4526.thumb.jpg.f275817635c4239d9759bd5f7b66b3d2.jpg

Fizzing and static followed by a long beep and a colourful screen.

Naho Sotirova - Professional and cold around almost everyone, the complete opposite when around mentor Karapetrov or closest colleague Orlov, despite appearances this person can turn it on when it counts. She made her mark, albeit a small one, in the match against Zoran. Every little counts.

Well this went well. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, HNDK go along and do that to Zoran. With a whopping 208 runs, it was the most runs scored by any team in a single T20 World Cup match. Certainly it was helped by a certain ill librarian defying all expectations and putting on the game of her life by breaking the record for most runs by a single HNDK player in a T20 World Cup match. She might even have broken the record for most runs scored by any player in a single T20 World Cup match outright. If so, then welcome to the halls of cricket history surely. With this crushing win HNDK reaffirm their place as the top team in Super 8 Group 1. We did not need to perform like this at all, but even when complacency was fine we still told the concept to sod off. No matter what the match, HNDK will give 100% to the effort. If one loses because they weren't trying, that is unforgivable. Oh yeah and Derek utterly swept up shop in the wicket department so here's to hoping that he has broken the record for wickets by a single player in any T20 World Cup match. That really would add to the brilliance of this match. Enough about us, what about the other lot in this competition? Well, Larxia defeated Saint Mark somewhat comfortably to ensure that Aura was screwed over with both of it's remaining nations eliminated and sending the 2 Andolian nations there through. In Group 2, both Astorian nations were booted out. Even with Cambria's victory over Nieubasria, their Net Run Rate was too crummy to make a difference, courtesy of their defeat-on-the-back-of-tragedy against United Adaikes, who won their group even though they lost to Fhaengshia. This creates a case in which all 3 Andolian teams are in the Semi-Finals, with the last hopes of Polaris riding on United Adaikes and Aura's hopes having been extinguished completely by the despair of elimination. Results upcoming, more ideas for mockery abound.

(OOC note: this post is supposed to take place before the semifinal games, I just forgot to write it yesterday)

B9nymnW.png?1

Vanessa Desniowynsk: "Good morning Giovanniland! We now interrupt our regular Sports Report to make a special report of the 1st T20 World Cup of Cricket. You might be aware that we scaled back on the amount of reports ever since Giovanniland has been eliminated, but now we're back to tell you about the Super Eight stage of the tournament, that has just ended! In order to recapitulate, eight teams qualified for this stage: Larxia and United Adaikes from Group A, Hertfordshire and Jammbo and Cambria from Group B, Saint Mark and Fhaengshia from Group C, and Zoran and Nieubasria from Group D. Giovannilandians mostly cheered for the two qualified Auran teams, Zoran and Saint Mark, while being indifferent to others, except maybe Fhaengshia due to our defeat to them in the first group stage. However, the first matchday was a disaster for the two Auran teams, since Zoran lost to Larxia and Saint Mark to lost Hertfordshire and Jammbo. The second day wasn't great either, since Zoran and Saint Mark were matched against each other and the Zoranian win meant that Saint Mark could not advance to the semifinals anymore—while Hertfordshire and Jammbo secured a win after winning against Larxia. Finally, on the last day, Zoran lost to Hertfordshire and Jammbo while Saint Mark also lost to Larxia. Sadly, this meant that none of the Auran teams could advance to the semifinals, with the two Andolian ones earning these places instead.

Carlos Nakamura-Edristyn: "Meanwhile, in Group B, three Polarii and one Andolian team fought for the other two semifinal spots. In the first day, United Adaikes and Cambria both barely won against Nieubasria and Fhaengshia, respectively. However, in the second day, the Fhaengshians started their comeback by winning against the Nieubasric—meaning that the latter team was now eliminated—, while United Adaikes scored another win, this time against Cambria. On the third and last day, Fhaengshia won against group leaders United Adaikes while Cambria scored a win against their neighbors Nieubasria, creating an interesting situation in which all teams but Nieubasria had four points. However, the Cambric win wasn't enough to give them a semifinal spot, as they had a lower Net Run Rate of -5.3729 compared to Fhaengshia's 1.0894 and United Adaikes' 7.78965. Therefore, one Polarii and one Andolian team from group B will advance to the semifinals. Stay tuned for another Cricket Report after the tournament ends, in which we will talk about the semifinals Fhaengshia vs Hertfordshire and Jammbo as well as Larxia vs United Adaikes, the grand final and 3rd place match, as well as a retrospective of the Giovannilandian team!"

May 22, 1421 8:52 PM IAT; Faltech Arena, San Dojas

Some 60, 000 fans - the majority are Larxians - are going wild with the game playing for the last ball of the 16th over. The winner of this game will take bragging rights as a finalist and even win the tournament. King James and President Luke Salazar are watching the game together. The Adaikesians won the toss and chose the Larxians to bat first. The host, the Larxians, have scored 131 runs, their lowest in the whole duration of the tournament, but are still feeling good with their chances. The Adaikesians, hoping they get what they want from this game and this tournament.

The Larxian team has already taken out 9 Adaikesian players, while the Steelbats only need three more runs to win the game. The only Steelbats players left are their captain, Wynne Albrekktson, already with 77 runs scored, and the youngest, Arnaldo Dolezal, with 11 runs scored. Dolezal will be batting for this last ball. It's now or never. Dolezal knows that if he gets himself out, the game will be over, and the highest place they can get will be the 3rd place only. If he can get another run, it's either they win it and proceed to the championships, or they continue playing for more opportunities while limiting not to play risky.

The Larxian player bowls. Dolezal waits for the right moment. The ball bounces off from the ground. Dolezal times it perfectly and swings his bat. The ball flies away in the northeastern direction. Dolezal is anxious as he feels the ball flew low. Albrekktson has his hands up in the air. Every fan is shouting at the top of their lungs, the Larxian fans hoping their fielder would catch it, the Adaikesian fans hoping it will pass the boundary. A Larxian fielder near the boundary tries to catch the ball. He jumps. But the ball is still higher from his middle finger. The Larxian fielder missed! The ball passes the boundary! That gives them six more runs! The Steelbats are going to the championship game! Dolezal drops to his knees, crying tears of joy! The lad just felt the pressure he was feeling throughout the game left him! The whole team runs to Dolezal! Albrekktson, who was nearer, tackled and hugged Dolezal from the ground!

"A hell of a game, Your Majesty!" an aide heard Salazar tell King James. The two world leaders shook hands. "I'll see you in New Larxia tomorrow, Mr. President," King James replied.

Patchouli Knalide - Okay, we would just like to point out how we are running out of ways to express our collective surprise at Patchouli becoming a regular on the HNDK scoresheet. Honestly, how can someone with asthma, anaemia & vitamin A deficiency out-do the majority of her for the most part completely healthy teammates? Even with this terribly low score she still never ceases to surprise.

Ryosuke Tīrelis - If this pitifully low score of 2 says anything, it is that this match was not an individual affair. For even this score was key to helping HNDK to victory over fellow Andolian nation Fhaengshia. If cricket teams allowed for Ryosuke's SAVANNA RX-7 ∞ III (FC3S) to be driven on the pitch for him to use as a bat, he would have a higher run score in this game. But that is among the highest echelons of ridiculousness.

Derek Sokolov - Someone remind us why the surgeon, a man working in a job that heals other people, is one of the better performers in a sport where the goal is for lack of a better term to harm the opposition. If Patchy isn't the surprise then Derek is. He says there is no such thing as an untreatable wound, or an incurable disease. Well, if he has taught us one thing, it's that there is no such thing as normalcy on this or any Hertfordshire and Jammbo sports team.

Lisa Lazarenko - The highest scorer in this match for HNDK already proved some time ago that being good at cricket isn't just down to raw strength or skill. Sometimes it merely requires an abnormally high level of intelligence (as Eirin and others can attest to) in order to truly stand out. It all makes perfect sense. Well, almost all of it. The one part that doesn't make sense is that she was dismissed through LBW even though Lisa is to Richard Hammond what Richard Hammond is to Jeremy Clarkson. In other words, she is small.

Reimu Hadjieva - The shrine maiden is back again, and this time she actually has managed to collect some donations. It is such a rare occurrence that she felt extra motivated to do well and so she did, being the second highest scorer for HNDK in this match. Because she spent so long in the shrine her legs were a bit more tired than usual and thus it came as no surprise to find that she became dismissed after being run out. Oh well, she could count the donations while off the pitch. Reimu did just that.

Patrick Manev - At this point the scores are back to being pitiful, but that hardly matters. Derek was on the frontlines when Patrick tried to unleash a man-made group of viruses into the country as a means to find a way to awaken his comatose wife. That is just desperate, no wonder he took mental health sessions afterwards. The comatose one has shown signs of waking up soon, which will please the Hand of Asclepius to no end. Don't worry, he's not a madman anymore, but this news could explain the awful score of 2.

Rago Niedra - Predictable. It seems we can't ever go a single match (we can) without having to mention Rago. This time, it is for the wrong reasons as he scored a solitary run before being caught out. Great job there mate.

Richard Hammond - Glory stealer. He comes on when the scores are all tied at 99 runs each on the second innings. He then scores the four that wins HNDK the match and books the place in the T20 World Cup Final. Commence Hammond being a sore winner, much to the dismay and/or humour of most of his teammates.

Ah bliss, the sweet sight of the King's Circle Stadium. Oh sorry, we daydreamed a bit there. If you hadn't already deduced, this report is being filmed in our news lorry on the way to the stadium in Larxian capital New Larxia where the final of the T20 World Cup will be held. Hertfordshire and Jammbo's representative team, the Hertfordia Heathens/Snowstorm/Shrine Maidens, have successfully made their way to the grand finale of this tournament. They have won hard fought victories over some and utterly hammered others. They have set records along the way both individually and as a team. Truly, optimism among the fans of this nation could hardly be higher but in just a select few hours HNDK will face the most important match of it's time here in Larxia. The opponents for the final are the representatives for the Eastern Polaris nation United Adaikes, the United Adaikes Steelbats. On their journey to this match they have chocked up 5 wins and 2 losses in this pattern: LWWWWLW. On the other hand, our own HNDK has won 6 matches and lost 1 in the following pattern: LWWWWWW. Very similar records then, although HNDK are on a 6 match winning streak while UAS have won 5 of their last 6 matches, their defeat to Fhaengshia denting that slightly but not too badly. Fhaengshia of course are the team that HNDK defeated in the most recent match of theirs (you should know, you're watching/reading a report of it), so now we are starting to understand why fans of the Hertfordshire and Jammbo T20 World Cup effort are holding their optimism. Don't get cocky though, that won't help at all. Now let us say that this win was a team effort more than anything. No player was outstanding, but all of them put in a tandem performance to complete the surprisingly easy job of surpassing the Fhaengshia first innings score of 99. Yes, really, 99. HNDK got the RCA all out for 99 in 16.4 overs. No wonder it required just 11.1 overs to beat them though the high number of dismissals did give a small fright. Now then, onto the final matches. The third place match will be between Northern Andolian nation and purveyors of gibberish Fhaengshia's representatives who are called The Bounty Hunters, and Western Andolian nation and tournament host Larxia's representatives who simply go by Cricket Larxia. The final will be played as you know between Eastern Polaris nation and occasional fantasy animal inventors United Adaikes representatives United Adaikes Steelbats, and Eastern Andolian nation and literal middle of scenic nowhere Hertfordshire and Jammbo's representatives Hertfordia Heathens. One final note before we switch to the ritual of insults in results, HNDK decided to set the name change structure for themselves in reverse. This is so they can call themselves the Hertfordia Heathens in the final for this is the most popular chosen name among Hertfordian/Jammbian cricket fans. This is why they called themselves Hertfordia Snowstorm for this Semi-Final win over Fhaengshia. The T20 World Cup Final is imminent, may the goddess of victory smile upon our native land for the upcoming match.
