Curious about what lies ahead

Mr. Delegate (current or future),

TAO was curious about what lies ahead for the region.  Would it be possible to give a brief mission/vision statement for those of us with inquiring minds?  And will there be rum and chocolate?

Yes.  There will definately be chocolate and rum. *swigs from flask* Yes. Spiced Crimson Rum and the finest Darkesian Chocolate.  I can't wait for the shipment of Crimson Rum Liqueur filled Wickedly Evil Chocolate Oranges. (BBD Daleks are providing security for their transport.)

And Karaoke Fridays. And a chicken in every pot.

And there will be dragons (touches his crimson gold dragon ring.)

No pouchies will be allowed to contaminate our RMB with their roo poo.  And Nazis will be tossed upon the heap of their disgusting history and ejected from the sparkling waters of The West.

Adspam will be suppressed to keep our RMB clean. (with exceptions for our friends that contribute to our community)

The Benevolent Pax of The West Pacific Imperium will be demonstrated accross NS by the will and determination of the West Pacific Armed Forces and our allies.  New alliances will be forged. And the ties between our ingame and offsite communities will be reinforced. It is the mission of the Imperium to restore the legacy of greatness of The West Pacific.  It is a legacy supported and defended by the Guardians ingame, and the Imperium government on the forum. Working together as a community, the future is bright.  But the key is....working together.  No person alone can support and build an active community and play on the NS field of play without those that step up and contribute their talents to the effort. And those that try face quick burnout.

The government of the Imperium lies draped upon the foundation of the concepts of regional governance that were provided by the TAO TWP Constitution.  (Of which I have not been able to find a copy  in my searches of the old forum) It is built upon recognition of the ingame and government authority of the Delegate and Guardians, and handled with respect to the forum and ingame communites to invite and encourage the participation of everyone in all aspects of regional life.

I also expect that we will be seeing some changes in NS gameplay in the coming months, and I'm looking forward to seeing what tools the new features/rules/mechanics will provide us with.  I am also concerned that the spreading use of telegram recuritment scripts will increase the slow drain of talented nations from our region.  Strategies and tactics of the past will need to change with the game, and may lead to the need for GCR's to recruit for themselves in competition with the UCR's....and perhaps with each other.  Will "Associations" be implimented in some manner ?  Will "Annexation" finally become a reality ? Will subscriptions to dispatches as a form of news distribution be established ? Time will tell, and we will learn how best to use these new tools together.

AGP, I used to recruit for us via telegram during long boring nights of maintenance windows. We mass recruiting TG's I would think that GCR's should engage in that practice.

*nods*

I think we have a couple options to consider. We can get a welcome script running to greet new nations, as well as see about making use of the new recruitment scripts.

I'm also thinking a weekly mass tg to let the region know what all is going on inregion and on forum. But I want to hear from everyone if they think weekly is too much.

Do you think a verbose mass tg with all the lastest news would be good ?  Or would a summary mass tg with a link(s) to the details be better ?  Such as posting the detailed report in my Factbook and linking to it in the tg.

Yeah, a note from the Delegate and I'd like to have each Ministry provide it's own weekly update to be included....so the Delegate doesn't have to do all the writing :P

Another thought is that Factbook entries allow more formatting (and the addition of images), where a telegram does not. For example, I've added the last TWP Dispatch to my Factbook:  http://www.nationstates.net/nation=all_good_people/detail=factbook/id=113384

A weekly telegram would be powerful. Something that has a consistent layout.

- Short message from the delegate

- Weekly happenings (e.g. Karoake Fridays)

- From the Office of

   - FA Minister

   - Laandstraad minister

   - Comm Minister

- Joke of the Week

- how to get involved!?

things like that.

How about directing them to a recruitment specialist/Minister of the interior/mentor/someone whose job it is to take care of new nations.  This way even though the person is just asking how to turn off regional telegrams, they will remember that it was someone from TWP's government that shared the information.  If the person in charge of answering those questions also remembers the nation's name and a little about them, there is a very good chance they will be back around.

I used to directly recruit this way when I was Delegate, and I can't be the only one.

Basically, don't just give them the link. Give them a link to a nation who can speak with them, unless they contact the Delegate directly.

You would be shocked to know how much it impresses new nations that a feeder delegate or a government official took the time to speak with them.

That's a good idea.  And to spread the workload, the linked nations/mentors can switch off week-to-week in the Delegate's Weekly Update.

This is quite true.  It always helps to show respect and acknowlegment to new nations/players.  And if we don't do it, there are plenty of UCR's recruiting them that will.
