Greece has always been a bit of a nightmare.  I remember when United Cyprus took over Greece.  The Pacific was their ally and failed to liberate them.  Greece had previously been a member of the Alliance Defense Network, and although they had thumbed their noses at ADN, they were the ones that successfully liberated Greece.

I) FOREIGN AFFAIRS:

 

i) Perhaps  the silver lining in an otherwise drab foreign affairs landscape of CoC, was the revival of the Inter-regional Organization, United Regions (UR)--which was once again revitalized with an increasing membership of regions like Commonwealth of Free Nations, Genuan Rebirth, Coalition of Democratic Nations etc. The CoC was already a member of this Inter-regional initiative during the 14th REC's tenure. 

 

ii) To add to the CoC's honour, a CoC citizen nation, Torvalyn, was elected as the Secretary general of the United Regions. It is expected that the Inter regional Union would help the consituent regions in forging a combined approach towards Inter-regional diplomacy.

 

iii) The Genuan Crisis and Borduriaa:  During the election period of the United Region (UR) SG, the CoC faced a different sort of predicament which saw one of it's veteran member ,Borduriaa's deep and controversial involvement in another United Region affiliated member region, Genuan Rebirth (GR)  .

 

Borduriaa had been voluntarily granted the foundership of Genuan Rebirth by it's original founder, Jultoplex who chose to leave GR due to a tiff with a few of it's members.  Borduriaa took over the functions of the founder of GR with vitality and made an offsite forum for Genuan Rebirth and worked closely with the PM, ASEAN for it's upliftment. With the change of guard in GR, a clamour started amongst GR natives who pressed for Borduriaa's stepping down as founder of the region. The crisis escalated with an unrelenting Borduriaa holding onto the founder's position and a united rebellion from the Genuans ensued.

The matter was brought to the United Regions of which both the CoC and GR were members. While a major debate took place in the CoC House of Nobles regarding the course of action to be followed by CoC in the event of one of it's members actions as founder in an allied region.

The CoC ruled that while it supported the GR, it has no power or jurisdiction over the individual actions of it's member nation in different regions as per the CoC Constitutional tenet of sovereignty.

The rebellion in Genuan Rebirth saw such a high pitch of dissent that it led to a vertical split and the formation of another region--the Genuan where most of the rebels migrated to, including it's govt. The rebels finally staged a splendid counter offensive and in an midnight coup, Feranal, a closet rebel who earned Borduriaa's trust , usurped  the delegacy and  overthrew Borduriaa's foundership and refounded the region of Genuan Rebirth .

 

The crisis blew over and  the CoC also heaved a sigh of relief.

 

 

II) INTERNAL AFFAIRS:

 

i) Political parties in CoC : The passage of the Party Administration ACt saw the emergence of two political parties--the Commonwealth Progressive party and the National Conservative Coalition. The former was headed by Evanicaland and the latter by Merovingea. In the 15th REC, the CPP bagged three posts of the Secretary General  & Speaker's post  but lost the coveted Chancellor's post to Merovingea . Torvalyn , an independent was elected as Prosecutor General. The 4 elected members chose La libera as the Lord Commander, who resigned later .

The advent of political parties saw bitter battles and closed door meetings in both camps and the competition became extremely unhealthy. The constant allegations and counter allegations led to a lot of fatigue and a general opinion against parties seeped in again. The distrust of parties led to no party contesting the 16th REC elections. The two parties--NCC and CPP were officially disbanded.

The 16th REC  has now seen the rise of another political party , founded by Torvalyn--The Moderate party which got recognition from the Govt. 

 

ii)  Picts--the disgraced rouge Chancellor of CoC who couped CoC and held it to ransom for a good 24 hours surrendered before the CoC Court. A long drawn case was drawn against Picts . In the course of the case, to the horror of the populace , the Judges discovered that there was no Criminal Code for the crimes committed by Picts. The judgement delivered by the COurt did not banject Picts but banned him for life from occupying the post of Chancellor(Delegate) and also meted out a two term ban for the rest of the elected posts. 

Picts went on self exile for a long period and returned to demand the commutation of his sentence. He displayed his trademark hostility and unpredictability for some time before he left the region to his cocoon.

 

iii) A lot of members CTEd but the auto recruiter script and the region's USP of being a monarchist region drew new members and quite a few old ones resurrected and rejoined.

 

iv) The Ethopolis case: During the discussion of a debate in the House of Nobles, an war of words occured between Borduriaa and Besate. Besate accused Borduriaa of calling Ethopolis a Nazi and lodged a case in the Court against Borduriaa for violating the decorum and Evanicaland--the Speaker. Evan was accused of deleting the relevant posts in the forum in which Borduriaa called Ethopolis a Nazi.

In the case which followed, Borduriaa provided solid evidence of Ethopolis' past involvement in Nazi regions like GGR. Ethopolis acknowledged this and denounced his past Nazi affiliations. The Case is dragging on in the Courts with Chief Justice Rarungan executing summons on all the parties to be present at the witness box. A decision is expected by the next week.

 

III) LEGISLATION:

 

i) The 2013 Constitution had several amendment during the past terms of the RECs , notable amongst which were : The Quorum Reduction Act, The Court Appointment Act , Party Administration Act, Minister Removal Act etc. The Quorum reduction act was necessitated due to the deadlock in the House of Nobles during passing of Amendments.

 

ii)The repeal of the Political party Administration bill was proposed in the House of Nobles by Antarctica Territories which was attacked from most quarters , most vociferous voices coming from Torvalyn and Borduriaa. Supporters of the bill included Besate and Antarctica. But the oppisition to the bill saw the withdrawal of the bill from the house as it could not garner any support.

The corolarry to this was that a new party blossomed in the horizon of CoC--The Moderate Party which instantly attracted members and obtained recognition. 

 

ii) Regional Cartography Act: An amendment to the map making rules brought together strange bedfellows--Borduriaa and Besate who joined hands in attacking the amendment. Their issue was to revert back to the traditional one nation one plot criteria, which was not accepted by the majority and the bill was put to vote by the Speaker after a lot of alleged filibustering by the opponents.

 

iii) In amendments to existing laws, the Regional Relief Resources Act was amended and replaced by the Commonwealth Revenue Act and amendments were also brought in the Political Monopoly Eradication Act because of the 2013 COnstitutional provisions.

 

III) ROLE PLAY:

 

i) CoC Trek:

 The Culture Minister has started a new RP: The CoC Trek , which is an amazing Race where a man and woman from each nation must complete a challenge in each nation, getting there by either plane, boat, horse/donkey/camel, or foot. They each get one backpack with a predetermined set of supplies, along with 500 American Dollars worth of internationally valid currency, but if they lose the money, it's gone.

 

ii) The First Folkish Ball: Started by Folkelands, this RP is currently seeing a huge following.

 

iii) First Commonwealth war--a fictional history of CoC was started by Ethopolis and has atracted attention of the members.

Foreign Ministry update, July 2016:

 

ICTO ( Interregional Cooperation Treaty Organization)

 

The InterRegional Cooperation Treaty (ICT) has been signed in Emperor Island, Central Pacific Empire, between the Commonwealth of Crowns (CoC), Central Pacific Empire (CPE) and the United Empire of Islam(UEI). The Treaty shall come into effect from the first of July, 2016. The first nation to chair the treaty organization will be from the CPE. Foreign Minister of the CoC, Lord Boris Kostenko, Amir Hussein , the UEI Secretary of foreign Affairs and Dmitri Himmler , Premier of CPE has signed the treaty on behalf of the signatory regions . The Treaty shall usher in a new era of cooperation, goodwill and friendship amongst the nations of the three regions. As of now , the signatories are also trying to rope in Imperial Slavicum, the successor region of Federation of Free States  into the treaty.

 

 

Dieter Himmler , of New Nationale Einheit and Prime Minister of Central Pacific Empire adressed the ICTO as such:

 

"Citizens, Government and Friends, We all made this happen. We stood together and brought everlasting purpose to the cordial friendship we all cherish. I would like to express my sincerest appreciation to you all, and my pledge to you is that the Central Pacific Empire will forever honor this historic achievement. I am thankful for this victory. We did this, friends, and we did it together. Let us continue forward and keep strong all the way.This is not a victory for me, my government, or for the Central Pacific Empire... this is an epic victory for all of us. Allies came together for a common cause, and we worked together to come up with a plan that will only bring forth everlasting purpose into our relationship. We must continue to stand together, be there for each other and never forget that unity will keep us strong. We did it, friends, we did it. And we will be all the more stronger for signing the treaty of the century. Again, thank you and always keep strong.

"

PICTIAN TERROR MODULE BUSTED IN THE COMMONWEALTH:

 

 

RSS troops savour their victory against the sleeper terrorists from Akmola

 

A sleeper cell of the dreaded terror nation, Picts was unearthed and destroyed by the elite troops of the Regional Security Service  Command centre led by elite Vetegan units . The troops surrounded the embassy of Akmola , a nation which had newly entered the Commonwealth. At 01:30 A.M, RSS troops penetrated the security perimeters of Akmolan embassy and after neutralizing the Akmolan guards, arrested the Akmolan Ambassador. 

In the retaliatory fire by RSS troops , nineteen Akmolan terrorists were eliminated and thirty more apprehended. A huge cache of chemical weaponry, bombs and guns were recovered alongwith detailed maps of the Crowns City and incriminating documents to destabilize the Commonwealth.

The covert operation was sanctioned by a cabinet vote after Vetega, as Commander of the RSS, called for an emergency cabinet meeting.

The Ambassador was declared persona-non-grata , arrested and deported to a prison at the rejected realms. The Ambassador was pleading innocent in his last communication to the foreign Minister of the Commonwealth.

NEW COC GOVERNMENT ASSUMES CHARGE:

 

 

The 30th CoC Government was installed in power with effect from the 15th of July'2016. Led by the much respected Lentheric, who was elected unopposed, the government hopes to usher in lots of activity in the region.

The festivities begin on the RMB, our forum and our Discord server on Friday, October 14th. Join us first thing in the morning for our Friday Karaoke tradition. The official celebration begins at 19:00 (USA EDT) with formal introductions, and will continue throughout Friday into Sunday. There will be games, music, an open chat party, amusing stories about The West Pacific and a panel discussion on the history of TWP. A highlight of the celebration will be a State of the Region address offered by Big Bad Badger at 20:00 (USA EDT) on Saturday. TWP will also hold joint military operations in recognition of the event. WESMORLAND ADMINISTRATION TAKES REIN OF GOVERNMENT:

A new Government was sworn in with the following members:

Secretary General: Wesmorland
Dy Sec Gen: Norengland
Secy Defense: vetega
Secy Interior: Cornimont
Secy Foreign AFfairs: Osberg-Thitania

Upon taking oath the New Secretary general outlined his vision for the region and wished proactive domestic and foreign policies. The thrust of the foreign policy being in the ICTO ( Inter regional Cooperation Treaty organization), Wesmorland stressed the need to align with other monarchist regions like Kaiserreich, LKE and Albion.



INTERIOR SECRETARY PUBLISHES SURVEY RESULTS:

Secretary Cornimont of the department of Interior, embarked on a survey to gauge the mood of COC members regarding the region and the results were published. Excerpts are shown here:


1) When did you join the CoC?
Most members, who replied to the survey, were veteran members.

2) What were your original views/expectations of the CoC?
This answer has been split between a democratic forum and a basis for expressing member states' monarchical roots

3) Has the CoC met or exceeded your expectations? If so, how? If not, please explain.
Most states answered yes to this question on the basis that it has lasted through rough times and remains something for nastaglia purposes. However, one nation in particular stated that it disappointed due to only a few active countries. One nation actually said the Region was "failing miserably"

4) What is the one thing that you enjoy most about your interactions with the CoC? (Please do not say N/A, or nothing. Provide an answer)
This answer has mainly been very positive toward role-playing and our "relaxed" atmosphere within the region and Government.

5) What is the one thing that you enjoy least/don't like about your interactions with the CoC? (Please do not say N/A, or nothing. Provide an answer)
It was mentioned a couple times how member states don't like how they squabble with one another on small issues. One person actually mention how he/she was surprised that as a diplomatic nation, we haven't tried to enter into diplomatic talks with Picts to resolve his issue with our Region

6) If you could change one thing, what would it be?
This answer varied. Some said they wanted more role-play/activity; one mentioned how it would be nice if people would take Government criticism less personally; and some said that they'd like to see the RMB more open.

7) Is there anything specific your Regional Government can do to make you feel more at-home or to help build your enthusiasm for the Region?
Also varied responses. Majorly, the government should be active. We need to create a Map; do something substantial for the Region (not just embassies and a couple acts); and participate in the assembly more.

8) Anything else you would like to add?
Encourage growth and don't let go of our Monarchist nature.


INTER_REGIONAL COOPERATION TREATY ORGANIZATION TREATY completed second meeting:

The  INTER_REGIONAL COOPERATION TREATY ORGANIZATION completed it's second meeting in The United Empire of Islam(UEI) and it's success is gauged by the fact that it gained one more member --- The Radiant and another region, The Mystical Council, has expressed avid interest. AT present the ICTO has deployed troops in the Central Pacific Empire for the defense of their delegacy due to impending elections as per the clauses of mutual defense the ICTO. WIth the ascension of The Mystical Council--a gameplayer region into the ICTO, the ICTO will gain it's much needed teeth in defensive missions.


CARTOGRAPHER WOES CONTINUES:

The CoC's cartography woes continues after several attempts by volunteers were debated and booed down by over enthusiastic and over critical members . We are back to square zero after a genuine attempt to revive our map.

The Commonwealth of Crowns Embassy News Update: December 2016

Elections are underway!

That's right folks, elections are fully underway for the next Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Crowns. With 3 candidates in the running's, seemingly level in predictions with each other, the outcome is truly unknown.

All candidates have expressed their plans for the region in one way or another, with the general populace clearly having faith in each shown in the current distribution of votes. The Commonwealth has hit another rough time in it's history and is in desperate need of regeneration, each candidate has respectively pledged to bring the Commonwealth to its former glory. Will there methods be a success? Which one will ascend to the top? Stayed tuned in to the regional RMB for the next few days!

A map is brought back to the Commonwealth, by a familiar face

The long-time Commonwealth map maker Apocryphi has returned to the scene to create a map for the region and allow nations to plot themselves into the geographical region of the Commonwealth of Crowns. It is believed the map is somewhat larger than the planet earth, with most nations taking sizable plots similar to that of the large modern day countries of the United States and China. The cartographer is keen to get nations onto the map, so role-play with locations in mind can begin and regional blocs can be formed, creating a more intense and dramatic scene for the nations of the Commonwealth to fully immerse themselves in. Long time residents have found themselves with substantially larger plots due to their tenure with the region, but as all nations across NS know, size doesn't always matter.

The cartographer has laid down a number of rules, but nothing too stringent. The Commonwealth had long prided itself on having a detailed map to attract newcomers from near and far, across all of NationStates, and now that order is restored and pride can be felt once more. Lets hope this is another stepping stone retaken on the path to regional glory.

The foreign office of the Commonwealth is keenly anticipating the growth and strengthening of regional friendships and relationships across the whole of NationStates. With a number of new requests sent out to regions and new ambassadorial postings set up (as some of those of you reading this post may have found already), the whole of the Commonwealth is in favor of the furthering in growth of bonds. More citizens than ever are willing to take part in activities with other regions, whether this be through their RMBs, forums or the NS forum. Also, more sections of the forum than ever before have been opened up to ambassadors to get involved in regional activities (games, discussions, etc), so please feel free to take a visit to the Commonwealth forum today. We're waiting!

Happy New Year!

So, 2017 is upon us, what does that mean for you? What does that mean for your region? For the Commonwealth, well we're hoping for a year of growth, happiness and good health, not just for us but for all of our allies aswell. What more could you wish for? 2017 will be a good year. (touch wood) Already we have launched a new recruitment program and begun the planning of a huge number of events, most of which all of our allies can get involved in when registered on our forums as ambassadors.

Whilst a few regions do keep in contact with us, we'd really like to hear from everyone so please don't hesitate to register on the Commonwealth forum today and start keeping us updated of your regional affairs.

New Secretary General

After a hard-fought election with two separate ballots, on December 4th 2016 the representative of the Crownlands of Apocryphi was officially elected as our new Secretary General. He quickly formed his government of 9 ministers ranging through 3 departments and has taken very proactive steps to ensure the cabinet is working hard on the goals of this new administration. Issuing regular objectives and goals, here's hoping the fate of the Commonwealth is looking brighter than it was prior to December the 4th.

New Regional Events

The historical department of culture has been reinstated within the Commonwealth and with this a new host of event planning is underway, we're hoping for a great things from the Deputy in-charge of the area of has had numerous tenures in numerous departments over numerous years. Smacakkelot, the Deputy Secretary of State for Culture has already opened the Official 2016 Commonwealth Culture Fair! The Deputy Secretary has been working hard on bringing about a sense of pride to the Commonwealth's vast and beautiful culture. The Department of State encourages everyone to join in on the festival, from near or far!

Renewal

With a renewed image, the Commonwealth is opening its arms to the rest of the world. Don't be strangers and feel free to pay a visit whenever you'd like! Whether it be forging new friendships or reigniting old flames, we're here and we're waiting for you.
