Vlagh I think you see the URAP failing as the system failing.

Those are two different things. I also think you see a delegate failing as the system failing. Again, those are separate in TWP.

The one thing I have liked about TWP is that the delegate chair itself while having the most authority wasn't something we (the Guardians) wanted to have as a rotation of the elite. Instead we did want newer folks in the chair (Enlightened Defenders) and people who hadn't been delegate before (Yy4u).

That's the difference between TP and TWP in my opinion and one isn't better than another, it's just that within this system we're willing to risk a bad delegate in order for the system we have established to continue.

Elu - thanks for the comment on Flem. I'm shocked.

I also think that TWP has proved influential in many ways b/c the system has worked for so long. I mean, I might chide the new kids a bit but the Guardians enabled us to retake the region fairly quickly. So I'll agree with AGP that URAP failed and the system showed how strong it is and needs to continue being.

Addendum: Thinking further,  Vlagh in your paradigm if the delegate fails the system fails. This could be true in TP (i'm not an officionado on that one) but in TWP we've built a system that will continue should a delegate fail precisely because delegates can fail. We haven't had something like this in TWP in probably a decade but even so this lasted an update, maybe two. That's not a failing system in my opinion.

While it is true we did suffer a very minor setback with URA's apparent 'insanity', that is still not reason enough to dramatically change the fundamental core that is TWP offsite/ingame system.
Mistakes will be made, poor choices will be made, we are all human after all.
We learn. We adapt. We modify. The way things are currently, is fluid enough to incorporate those things/entities that would, in the future, address such aberration/anomalies such as you describe.

No, the system didn't fail, URAP failed.

If he was Delegate of TP, the failure would have been the same....his failure, not the system.

I am sorry for supporting that shitbag of a URA. I am sorry for not listening to BBD. I am appalled that Russo has Korean blood in him. I will, when destiny gives me the chance, strangle him to smithereens.

Kolmias ... those systems used in other regions that you name were the children of the TWP Guardian system.  We were the first to realize the value of Guardians soon after the Game introduced Influence.  In this forum, the Guardian system was imagined and implemented.  As a Minnow Delegate, I was the first to rely on this new concept.  The other regions emulated TWP after they saw how effective a Guardian system could be.

But there is something MORE about our system that may not be true about those others ... we develop a true sense of Community with our Guardians and they are players who can be trusted with the very region, if need be.  Originally, the Delegate chose the Guardians but those chosen proved to be loyal and true and therefore remained.  Over time, others were added.  It is only in the last year that TWP has allowed the Old Guardians to retire and new ones to move up.  URAP's failure coincided with this slippage.  It is a growing pang as old moves to new.  I doubt TWP will ever chose to let Guardians be selected by popularity rather than on trust and loyalty.

Guardians chosen by popularity is a bad move.

I don't want TNP's system here. I know TNP's system well, I'm currently a court justice and admin on TNP's boards. I'm probably the best (I'll put Vlagh as a distant second) person to compare the two systems.

TWP has a system of trust and providing new people and opportunity to prove themselves. TNPs system has a trust component to it but it's much more fluid in terms of who comes and goes in the TNP Security Council. Yes some members have been there for ages, Flem/Grosse/GBM but others are very new. The level of trust needed to get on the SC is different than the Guardians, imo.

As for in-game and off-site separation that really makes us unique, strong, and not victim to many characterizations of delegates such as "this delegate doesn't have the right to be delegate because of X". Nope, game mechanics settle the delegate and if you want to change a delegate use game mechanics to do it. Thus URA as Cormac is the legit TWP del right now. However, we put Guardians in place to protect us should a delegate wish to move the region in a direction that is bad for the community. Guardians are soldiers really and right now we need them, but we are well prepared for this.

Vlagh, can you pass along a message to Pierconium. Please advise that once things settle here, we are interested in restoring the relations our two regions have enjoyed for years.

We have just a little house cleaning to do and then we'll reach out.

URA is the rightful delegate of TWP. We believe in game mechanics here in TWP not just when we like the delegate.

It's up to us to use game mechanics to prove that URA is not the delegate.

We will do this and we will do it soon.

I think we'd all do well to be calm. He's a coward, but being angry at him doesn't achieve anything. Redirect that energy into getting nations to unendorse him.

It was a joke. Repeat, it was meant to be a JOKE! Trust me, the first thing I did as FADA was to contact DEN High Command, notifying them of the granting of their request to build off-site forums. I have chatted numerously with NPS(a DEN sergeant) and NSA(DEN lieutenant). Those chats involved my request for them to pull out of WZAI(my ambassadorial post before I became a DA); considering their tone when they replied, they were actually afraid that they have pissed TWP off; this means that DEN is serious about making friends with us.
If Russo was indeed a sleeper agent intending to sabotage TWP and all the hard work I've done, then trust me I'll strangle him myself. But as far as I can see, you are overreacting, dear Welshman. Calm down.

I do not wish to hear people say in these halls "don't bother, we got it" (paraphrased).

I want these halls to be where people can speak their mind, defend their positions, and try to persuade each other to build a better TWP.

I will not foster an environment where there's a have not and haves.

Not happening while I'm still Advocate. This conversation should continue.

Here are my thoughts on impeachment. In general, I don't like impeachment proceedings. I am really concerned that URA is continuing to make mistake after mistake after mistake.

The most recent issue I have is the ejection of Eli. It appears on the surface petty, childish, and perhaps most importantly impulsive. Moves like this tear a region apart and do not build the region.

I'm willing to hear URA on this but it's seems very, very, very, repeat, very dubious.

I am completely disgusted with the behavior and decorum of members of the old and new guard.
If this is how we treat each other I'm appalled. We are better than this!
Will the adults in the room, please take control of the situation and get our offsite government rolling. Lastly, will the children and various shit stirrers please take it to private message or TG!
This sort of behavior will drive away every new person and many active members.
Remember the goal is to create more activity in the offsite forum.

Oh but go ahead, please make another claim about how unfit I am to rule. You did such a great job yourself so you must have some smashing tips on how I should be doing things.
This conversation, should you continue it, must continue in my office on the forums. Try it here and you will be suppressed/banned for making the RMB unpleasant." - URAP to BBD. September 20th 1:50 a.m., Korean Standard Time
In accordance to what Russo said, I took the liberty to create this thread where the old guard and the new can do whatever form of battle they wish.
    Start!

It's what all the other time zones are based off of, so it makes a good reference of time for people working together but in different time zones.
I, for example, use EST and EDT, which are UTC-5 and UTC-4 respectively. My time zone switches between the two depending on the time of year.

I need to come up with a standard way to get proposals in front of the full voice. This could be the guinea pig.

As stated by Drach, it was and is my belief that internal affairs should deal with the forums only. A new DA would be able to better focus on recruitment because that would be his only job. And a dedicated place for anyone to ask questions would help ensure that those questions are asked and answered.
