A couple sentences about your nation: (original content, not NationStates stats)
Aethenstaff is a tropical nation, renowned for its growth of luxury crops such as coffee and tobacco, among other things. The leader, Rekhoy Reney, came to power after his father's death. While the leader's line is hereditary, the many ministers (Of War, Resources, Foreign Relations, etc) are elected into power. Rekhoy is something of a mad scientist, and prefers to leave the direction of the nation in the hands of his officials. He also often gets injured due to his experiments.
Civil rights are a priority in Aethenstaff, and political freedom is too. However, the Royalty often gets preferential treatment, and resources unavailable to most Aethenstaffians.

Fujai reacted to Materos in The Mapplication™ Thread - Join the world of Esferos!
Resident nation: The Community of Materos
Discord name: @Breon
Map nation name: Materos
A couple sentences about your nation: (original content, not NationStates stats)
The Community of Materos is a small capitalistic nation on an unimpressive island group. The largest of which is called Lethania Volcan by locals, this is also where the capital city Lethania Maxima is located. The Volcan part of the name is explained by the 243 ft (74 meters) volcano that lies dormant. Ancient Materosians used to have a prominent religion named Tarinilism, the namesake comes from the sun god Tarin. It's polytheistic and has 57 gods, each with their own role and importance. But since 1356 only 15% of the population believed in it since the younger generations became less and less religious.
Materos has also had a history of being a bunch of grumpy fishermen who were divided across islands, but in the year 1124 they decided to work together and form a community, which they named The Community of Materos, named after a hero in their folklore, Alastine Materos, who made the sky god, Taris, cry to form the sea. They decided that a democracy where one person of each island gets to be a representative of that island and these representatives would reside on Lethania Volcan to discuss laws, politics, etc.
Most of the islands are warm and tropical, with minor differences between the different islands. The most northern island, Equotorium, is slightly warmer and more tropical than the most southern island, Aslotiqus.
Materosians are proud of their fishing industry, where every child is trained at a young age to be able to fish. There is just one problem, because of where Materos is located, it's surrounded by other countries and landmasses, because of this the supply of fish has been steadily decreasing for the locals and Materos' economy also relies on the exporting of fish for it's money.
Materos isn't that technologically advanced, instead of having fast cars or planes, they have built a vast boat network across the islands and sea. They also have a small road network on the main island where most cars are imported from other countries.

Any other inspirations or concepts you want to share:
Materos is inspired by the Philippines, where they were one of the greatest seafarers. So that's why they have a vast boat network. I also chose Materos to have a declining fish population because of them being fishermen and generally staying in the same location. I also want them to be behind on the automobile and plane industry because they'd be focused on sea travel, not air or road.
And I chose the main island to have a volcano because that'd be most logical for the existence of that island group like Hawaii. Also, being around the equator, the top island would have a name related to that (like Ecuador). Because most of the islands are close together and at around the same location, I thought that a warm, tropical climate would fit best. Where there'd only be minor differences.
The religion is inspired by a couple of polytheistic religions like egyptian and greek mythology. I wanted it to be polytheistic because it's cool (and allows drama involving multiple gods to exist). As for the reason of the religion becoming less relevant, I wanted to imitate real life religion like Christianity where less children are catholic (at least in Europe). And because the fish have had a decline it'd make sense for them to lose hope in their gods since the problem isn't getting solved. Sorry for the long text, I hope I didn't talk too much.

Fujai reacted to Dalimbar in Dali's Canadian Federal Election Projection 2025
Work In Progress - Full Projection to be posted soon!
As many of you know, I'm a political nerd and junky. As a public servant in RL I do not participate in electoral campaigns these days but in the 2010s I was involved in campaigns for the provincial and federal NDP in my local area. I've been doing election projections and forecasts since the late 2000s for pure personal amusement and to help my understanding on how a given race is going. Today, I'm happy to publish my forecast for the 2025 Canadian federal election, with the first results from Newfoundland and Labrador most likely being announced shortly after 7pm EDT Monday night, and then moving across the country throughout the night.
Polls close in each region in this general order:
Newfoundland - 8:30pm NDT, 8:00pm ADT, 7:00pm EDT, 6:00pm CDT, 5:00pm MDT, 4:00pm PDT
Atlantic - 9:00pm NDT, 8:30pm ADT, 7:30pm EDT, 6:30pm CDT, 5:30pm MDT, 4:30pm PDT
Quebec/Ontario - 11:00pm NDT, 10:30pm ADT, 9:30pm EDT, 8:30pm CDT, 7:30pm MDT, 6:30pm PDT
Manitoba - 11:00pm NDT, 10:30pm ADT, 9:30pm EDT, 8:30pm CDT, 7:30pm MDT, 6:30pm PDT
Saskatchewan/Alberta - 11:00pm NDT, 10:30pm ADT, 9:30pm EDT, 8:30pm CDT, 7:30pm MDT, 6:30pm PDT
British Columbia - 11:30pm NDT, 11:00pm ADT, 10:00pm EDT, 9:00pm CDT, 8:00pm MDT, 7:00pm PDT
Headline Polling Numbers
Due to how geographically diverse our country is, polling is often analyzed by the headline federal numbers for each party, but perhaps more importantly by the "regional" numbers. Although there are 10 provinces and 3 territories, standard polling practice is to poll the country based off of the following regions: Atlantic (which is Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick), Quebec, Ontario, the Prairies (Manitoba and Saskatchewan), Alberta, and British Columbia. This is due to the lower populations in the Atlantic and Prairie provinces and resulting sample sizes. For the territories I group them in the following fashion: Nunavut's projection is tied in with the Prairies, Northwest Territories is with Alberta, and Yukon is with British Columbia. In the below section I'll show where polling has each party in each region and also noting the difference from what they scored in the 2021 election:
CANADA - Liberal Party of Canada LIB 42.50% (+9.88), Conservative Party of Canada CON 38.83% (+5.09), New Democratic Party of Canada NDP 8.63% (-9.19), Bloc Quebecois BLQ 6.00% (-1.64), Green Party of Canada GRN 2.00% (-0.33), People's Party of Canada PPC 1.23% (-3.70), Other Parties/Independents OTH 0.80% (-0.11)
Atlantic - LIB 54.87% (+11.27), CON 35.33% (+3.79), NDP 6.50% (-10.42), GRN 1.63% (-1.55), PPC 1.37% (-2.99), OTH 0.30% (-0.10)
Quebec - LIB 40.63% (+7.03), BLQ 25.87% (-6.26), CON 23.70% (+5.05), NDP 5.83% (-3.94), GRN 1.77% (+0.24), PPC 1.37% (-1.32), OTH 0.83% (-0.80)
Ontario - LIB 47.60% (+8.34), CON 39.87% (+5.00), NDP 8.20% (-9.65), GRN 2.03% (-0.19), PPC 1.43% (-4.02), OTH 0.87% (+0.52)
Prairies - CON 48.87% (+0.28), LIB 36.30% (+16.61), NDP 11.50% (-10.60), GRN 1.43% (+0.03), PPC 1.13% (-6.01), OTH 0.77% (-0.32)
Alberta - CON 59.40% (+4.13), LIB 27.73% (+12.28), NDP 8.93% (-10.14), PPC 2.17% (-5.18), GRN 1.17% (+0.26), OTH 0.60% (-1.34)
British Columbia - LIB 40.73% (+13.73), CON 39.23% (+6.01), NDP 13.90% (-15.27), GRN 3.67% (-1.62), PPC 1.63% (-3.28), OTH 0.88% (+0.43)
There are a few events in play: Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre (running in Carleton, ON) has been running a populist conservative campaign which has removed the PPC from play on his right-flank, along with grabbing the attention of those who feel angry and/or left behind by the past 10 years of Liberal government. This is why he will probably receive the best popular vote that any centre-right politician has in the post-1993 modern Canadian system. The threat of Donald Trump (and how Poilievre looks Trump-lite) and the perceived competency of Liberal leader Mark Carney (running in Nepean, ON) in the face of Trump (or in general compared to Trudeau) has moved NDP, Green, and even a good number of Bloc Quebecois voters over to the Liberals. Trump absolutely scares us and any time he mentions "51st State" or announces a new round of tariff, we wrap our red-and-white maple leaf flag around us even harder. The NDP led by Jagmeet Singh (running in Burnaby Centre, BC), Bloc Quebecois led by Yves-Francois Blanchet (running in Beloeil--Chambly, QC) and Greens co-led by Elizabeth May (running in Saanich--Gulf Islands, BC) and Jonathan Pedneault (running in Outremont, QC) are all urging their supporters to keep supporting their parties to provide somewhat of a check on a Carney-led Liberal majority government, to apparent limited success. The critical issue of the campaign has been Canadian sovereignty/who can be the best to stand up for Canada against Trump, followed by affordability/cost of living which was the top issue before Trump returned and started to bully us. Before the election the other major issue, fatigue with Justin Trudeau, was removed from the equation when over the winter his party finally broke with him and he announced he would resign after a new leader was found, allowing Mark Carney (who has served as Governor of the Central Bank of Canada and then of England) to launch a very successful campaign to become the Liberal standard-bearer. The consumer-side of the Carbon Tax was also removed as a campaign issue (which was seen as an affordability/cost of living issue for many Canadians who hated high gas and other prices) for the most part when Carney became PM just before the campaign officially started and changed the taxation rate to 0%, effectively removing the consumer-side of the Carbon Tax while generally leaving the industrial-side of said tax.
Headline Seat Numbers
Of course, the popular vote does not actually determine who forms government in Canada, it is the number of MPs a Prime Minister can count on to deliver confidence. In both the 2019 and 2021 elections, the Conservatives won the popular vote by roughly 1% over the Liberals, and yet because of how solid the Conservative vote is in rural Canada (particularly across Alberta and Saskatchewan, and rural parts of BC, Manitoba and Ontario) and inefficient elsewhere, the Liberals under Justin Trudeau in both of those elections won a plurality of seats in the House and kept government, either working bill-by-bill with any opposition party who wanted to work with them (or more likely, abstain on the bill), or form a confidence and supply agreement as what happened between 2022 and 2024 with the Liberal government and the NDP. Based off of the map of ridings in the country, and where people are, it is common assumption that if the Conservatives want to form a minority government they need to have at least 2-3% above the Liberals, and would need 4%+ to get a majority depending on how the other parties do in their respective areas. And yet, here are the seat projections I get with the numbers today:
LIB - 188
CON - 126
BLQ - 21
NDP - 6
GRN - 2
PPC - 0
OTH - 0
How did I get these numbers? In the past election we had 338 ridings, in this one we have 343. Elections Canada and other sources provide good data on how to transpose the prior election onto the new boundaries, and from that data I use a regional-swing model (with some adjustments in seats for local conditions) to get the below seat projections. In the below section, I sort ridings into sub-regions, note beside the riding name which party current holds the seat, and then show the expected percentages for each party running in the seat. If it has this colour as with its name then that is a riding which is within 10 points margin between the first and second placed party and thus is what I figure is a "battleground" riding.

Fujai has a total area of 521,912 square kilometers and a population of 7.3 million, mostly concentrated in south and west Saisland and south and east Hasmark. The country is bordered by Dalimbar on the east, shares an extensive border with Cambria to the south, and in the east borders Gloibria and the Cambric exclave of Corentin. Much of its coastline, especially in Saisland, is broken by deep fjords, with large areas covered by forest, tundra, and mountains. Its maritime location heavily moderates its climate, making it relatively temperate compared to its latitude in the east and south, with its coldest locales located in the northwest.
Humans have inhabited what is now Fujai since approximately 11,000 BF. Berganisk peoples have inhabited the region since at least 2800 BF, being recorded in history in the centuries before the Markian Founding as the Saisar, Hasar, and Lanning, comprising along with the Glorar and and the peoples known as the Næring. The period from roughly 200-500 AF was characterized by migration, settlement, and raiding along the coasts of northern and eastern Polaris. Independent states emerged in Hasmark and Saisland in the early 500s, uniting into the precursor to the modern Fujansk state in 1021. The personal union of Fujai and Gloibria occurred in 1042 in response to growing Cambric influence in the region, failing in 1113 due to the Fujansk Civil War, which established the short-lived Gulhatt Republikk before the monarchy's restoration. The next two centuries were characterized by increasing Dalimbari aggression, with the Lannreid Forbund joining Fujai for protection in 1211, and a succession of wars eating away at Fujai's western territory throughout the 1200s, leading to increased alignment with the Astorians to the south. The disastrous First Northern War (1309-1312) dramatically reduced Fujai's area and began an economic depression leading to the Fujansk Revolution, which established the Red Monarchy, a socialist directorial republic with an elected ceremonial monarch. After a decade of economic reorganization, the ceremonial monarchy was abolished in 1331, leaving the current system in place. The Second Northern War (1357-1365) resulted in the return of much of Fujai's land to mid-1200s borders, and aided in Fujai's postwar economic success. On an international level, Fujai has been closely aligned with the Astorian Union (AU) for over a century, primarily as a defense against Dalimbar, and while not a full member, is a signatory of many AU treaties.
Fujai is one of the few nations to use a directorial system of government. Executive power is vested in the seven-member Stadsråd (State Council), and its members and its Rodd (Voice) are directly elected yearly. The Velkting forms the legislative branch and has the power to initiate recall elections for the Stadsråd. Iren Kristoffshavn serves as the current Rådsrodd, Tova Landsvik as the Speaker of the Velkting, and Aldis Steredal as the Hovudmidjar (Head Mediator).
Fujai uses a democratic socialist economy with universal healthcare, education, housing, transit, and an extensive social security system. These are funded with some of the highest and most progressive taxes in the world. Profit is outlawed in Fujai, and most companies operate as worker cooperatives or are under public ownership. Much power is delegated to the local kommunar, which often leads Fujai to be termed a "decentralized" or "municipal" state, while acknowledging the immense influence of the central government. Other values central to the Fujansk system include the landsuveren (land sovereign) and bypraksis (city practice). Fujai maintains an extremely high ranking in many international metrics, including quality of life, health, education, protection of civil liberties and political freedoms, equality, prosperity, and human development.

DEMOGRAFI // DEMOGRAPHICS
Exercising the imagination, experimenting with talents, being creative; these things, to me, are truly the windows to your soul. Remember how free clouds are. They just lay around in the sky all day long. Each highlight must have it's own private shadow. Didn't you know you had that much power? You can move mountains. You can do anything. Just a happy little shadow that lives in there. All those little son of a guns.
This is probably the greatest thing to happen in my life - to be able to share this with you. Learn when to stop. Let's just drop a little Evergreen right here.
Trees grow in all kinds of ways. They're not all perfectly straight. Not every limb is perfect. If you hypnotize it, it will go away. When things happen - enjoy them. They're little gifts. This is unplanned it really just happens. It's cold, but it's beautiful. Sometimes you learn more from your mistakes than you do from your masterpieces.
Just make little strokes like that. I'm sort of a softy, I couldn't shoot Bambi except with a camera. It's life. It's interesting. It's fun. This is your creation - and it's just as unique and special as you are. We don't really know where this goes - and I'm not sure we really care. Anytime you learn something your time and energy are not wasted.

Get tough with it, get strong. We'll make some happy little bushes here. You can work and carry-on and put lots of little happy things in here. If I paint something, I don't want to have to explain what it is. A fan brush is a fantastic piece of equipment. Use it. Make friends with it. Let that brush dance around there and play.
We can fix anything. If you do too much it's going to lose its effectiveness. What the devil. This is an example of what you can do with just a few things, a little imagination and a happy dream in your heart.
And I will hypnotize that just a little bit. This is your creation - and it's just as unique and special as you are. Isn't that fantastic?
All you have to learn here is how to have fun. There comes a nice little fluffer. Working it up and down, back and forth.

POLITIKK // POLITICS
The government of Fujai is a communal socialist directorial republic split into three branches: the legislative, executive, and mediative. Legislative power is placed in the Velkting, the parliament; executive power is placed in the Statsråd, the council; mediative, or judicial power, is placed in the Statsmidjerjon. Statsråd collectively serves as the head of state and government.
Velktinget
The Velkting is Fujai’s parliament, made up of 211 Velktingsrepresentants (VRs). The Velkting has been a unicameral body since the Folkskongress of 1316 abolished the former upper house, the Højting, among other things. The Velkting is seated in Velktingshuset inside Solrunsborg, Grønnevej 100, Keiserholde.
Functions and Members
The Velkting’s duties focus on acting as the peoples’ representatives, lawmaking, policy, and the running of the Fujansk government. Apart from these, the Velkting has the power to call snap elections for itself and the Statsråd with 60% support. The Velkting elects the Høytalar, the speaker, who is one of the most prominent public figures in Fujai. They are typically the leader of the largest party in the Velkting, though there have been exceptions to that custom.
Velktingsrepresentants must be Fujansk residents of at least 16 years of age at the time of election. VRs are elected for a maximum of two three-year terms.
Elections
Velktingsrepresentants are elected directly using a mixed-member proportional system, where voters cast ranked preference votes for their mixed member district and a vote for political party. 100 VRs are elected through multi-member districts, while the remaining 111 VRs are chosen from open party lists to achieve a proportional distribution of political parties. Elections in Fujai are overseen by the Statskjøsingkomisjon (informally known as Kjøsa).
Statsråd
The Statsråd is the council that serves as the executive power of Fujai. It consists of seven directly elected members, the Rådgafar, who each head one of the seven Ministerjonor. The chair of the council is the Rådsrodd, whose deputy is the Annarrådsrodd, commonly called the Rodd and Annar, respectively.
Elections
Elections for the Statsråd are held yearly concurrently with Velkting elections. Rådgafar are directly elected to specific seats on the Statsråd by ranked choice vote for up to three one-year terms. The positions of Rodd and Annar are elected yearly by approval vote among all candidates running for Rådgafar, and may only serve in that capacity once. Only Velktingsrepresentants are eligible to stand for election and must give up their seat if elected.
Snap elections for all members of the Statsråd (and Velkting) may be called by the Velkting once per year, though not within three months of a regularly scheduled election. Rådgafar elected in this way serve out the rest of their term.
Recall elections for individual Rådgafar may be initiated with 70% support in the Velkting, or by successful public petition.
Functions and Members
The Rådgafar serve as the heads of Fujai's seven Ministerjonor and they serve as the collective head of government of Fujai—no single member is vested with executive power. The Rådsrodd serves merely as a spokesperson and meeting convenor, and not as a leader, per se. The Utanriksrådgafar performs many of the foreign relations tasks that heads of state perform in many other countries.

UNDERSTRUKTUR // INFRASTRUCTURE
Let's get wild today. I guess that would be considered a UFO. A big cotton ball in the sky. You have to allow the paint to break to make it beautiful. We don't make mistakes we just have happy little accidents.
Just let your mind wander and enjoy. This should make you happy. If it's not what you want - stop and change it. Don't just keep going and expect it will get better. You have freedom here. The only guide is your heart. We don't want to set these clouds on fire. These things happen automatically. All you have to do is just let them happen.
We can always carry this a step further. There's really no end to this. Let's build an almighty mountain. In your world you can create anything you desire.
We'll throw some old gray clouds in here just sneaking around and having fun. Talent is a pursued interest. That is to say, anything you practice you can do. Working it up and down, back and forth.

ECONOMY
I will take some magic white, and a little bit of Vandyke brown and a little touch of yellow. Trees grow in all kinds of ways. They're not all perfectly straight. Not every limb is perfect. This is your world.
We start with a vision in our heart, and we put it on canvas. Everything is happy if you choose to make it that way. With something so strong, a little bit can go a long way. Remember how free clouds are. They just lay around in the sky all day long.
And maybe, maybe, maybe... A little happy sunlight shining through there. See there, told you that would be easy. Let's have a happy little tree in here.
It is a lot of fun. Let's put a touch more of the magic here. You can create beautiful things - but you have to see them in your mind first. We'll put some happy little leaves here and there. It's amazing what you can do with a little love in your heart.

KULTUR // CULTURE
There are no mistakes. You can fix anything that happens. You can't have light without dark. You can't know happiness unless you've known sorrow. Water's like me. It's laaazy ... Boy, it always looks for the easiest way to do things You want your tree to have some character. Make it special. Tree trunks grow however makes them happy. Little trees and bushes grow however makes them happy.
This is the fun part You've got to learn to fight the temptation to resist these things. Just let them happen. You gotta think like a tree. Use what happens naturally, don't fight it. Let's make some happy little clouds in our world.
I really recommend you use odorless thinner or your spouse is gonna run you right out into the yard and you'll be working by yourself. If you don't think every day is a good day - try missing a few. You'll see. The only prerequisite is that it makes you happy. If it makes you happy then it's good. Be brave. You can create beautiful things - but you have to see them in your mind first.
Use your imagination, let it go. Be so very light. Be a gentle whisper. Van Dyke Brown is a very nice brown, it's almost like a chocolate brown.

Fujai reacted to Zoran in The Mapplication™ Thread - Join the world of Esferos!
Please know that expansions are not granted "just because". Expansions are not granted easily without major service to the region or without a large and well thought-out storyline that justifies one. If you have a good storyline that is well thought out and goes above and beyond in quality for RP, please explain it to one of the loremasters and then start working on it. Otherwise, an expansion will not be granted because of "why not lol"
