He didn't banject me! I was off on a mission someplace. Now that I think about it, wasn't that about the time the RLA destroyed Invaders' forum? The timelines get all jumbled in my memory.

I did lots of arguing with Blackbird about that, finally had to just shut up. He wasn't backing down, or making sense, and I was just blabbing. (no one was listening)

I remember the days when Blackbird and I ran ADN Intel.... that was after Equility and I ran it....after ROTCJAG ran it.... before Biyah and I ran it.... and ROTCJAG came back and decided I was an evil person

In the end, Blackbird was the only one that could bridge the gap between the socialist defenders and the non-socialist defenders.  Seems like a forgotten divide these days, but it was a pretty important distinction back then.

Dare I ask what the difference between the two defenders is Westy?

Oh, it was mostly petty.  The socialist defenders would give priority to socialist regions. Which wasn't unreasonable as it was their region's policies to promote, spread and protect socialist ideas in NS.  Others like ADN made no distinctions and found it frustrating when trying to achieve 'defender unity'.  In some instances it was a matter of disagreement on that day's mission.  So forces were divided between targets.  Political differences also entered into relations within ADN since it was an extra-regional government.  If I recall correctly, eventually ties with ASE/RLA we're broken while BB joined Nasicournia with a puppet to keep his ADN membership.

There was also the forum destruction carried out by The Red Factions of RLA which divided things.  ADN was quick to condemn/leak(unistrut) the incident, while the RLA was initially supportive.

The forum destruction was one of the best things to ever happen to the Pacific Senate.  I've retold that story elsewhere on this forum before, but here is a condensed version.  It created a gigantic rift between the RLA and the ADN akin to the Sino-Soviet Split.  The Pacific was the first force to condemn it unequivocally.  Having seized the (moral) high ground, we were able to frame the discussion to our benefit:

"The Pacific was the first to expose and villify them for it. Having set the moral terms of the conversation, the rest of the world was forced to make a moral stand "with" us and against anyone who defended them.  The significance of this for us at that time cannot be overstated. The RLA was weakened, it was split from the ADN, and one of our most prolific enemies (EuroSoviets) was crushed.  And we were the world's juggernaut with clean hands.  The bitterness between the RLA and ADN was comparable to the Sino-Soviet Split from the real world, and eventually we were able to engage each group against each other.

Of course, we had our own dirty laundry.  So did the ADN.  There developed a strange unspoken agreement between us that our acrimony would only go to a point, that there were some things we wouldn't expose the other for (to a point), but that we could, at any time, if tensions escalated to that point. Almost like a Mutually Assured Destruction."

The split gave me the political cover, as Eli, to 'ditch' my rhetorical alliance with the ADN and swing to my Pacific friends. Which is what I did as Wep here in The West Pacific.

The ADN/RLA split was really quite divisive/destructive to the Meritocracy as well, but not as much as the Libertarian madmen that infiltrated the region.

BB knew those players quite well too.
