  1. Is the last one meant to be Option 5? If so I think that's the one I would go for lol
  2. If URA had stayed and been an active part of the chaos instead of doing the cowardly thing that he did, I wouldn't like him but I would have more respect for him. Just giving your account to DEN so they can run riot was cowardly to the extreme.
  3. I'm new, I don't understand the politics yet but I intend to stay and wish to learn.
  4. Wow, never guessed anyone would recognise this quote......
  5. Well if it is ever resurrected, I'm up for it.
  6. Name - Darielle Amija Occupation - Cleaner (well someone has to do it!) Age - 26 Description - petite, shaved head (but with red stubble), strong Scottish accent, friendly and easy going, but can get hot-headed. Biography - Astro-physicist by training, but all those posts were filled. However they still had a vacancy for a cleaner, and as this meant I could get into space I took it. I understand "clean room" status and take pride in keeping Henn City clean. That includes berating anyone I see causing me additional work - but my accent can make me hard to understand. My lowly position means that people forget I am as qualified as them so speak and act freely around me. And I've got so fed up with people asking me to repeat myself I now mostly keep myself to myself.
  7. I think BBD may just be a Hawkwind fan.........
  8. I'm too new to know what was going on, so I don't feel I can comment on what was going on. But on a personal basis, if I ever see someone talking like this I consider it a sign that they are someone who I can respect and talk to. I have a "I hear what you say, and respect your views if you will accord me the same. Agreeing to disagree is a sign of maturity, if we each respect the others views a way forward can usually be found" attitude to working with others. Debt collectors have to be good at conflict resolution - we want our money and you can't/won't pay it, clear communication leaves the way for a resolution to be worked out.
  9. Could I add that due to the flood new NS receive (some of which are obvious puppets even to a noob like me) I actually feel that a follow up telegram to all TWP members 24 hours after they start if they havent already popped into the RMB to say "Hi" might be a good idea. Puppets leave almost immediately and naturally ignore all the recruitment telegrams, but some noobs might have just ignored the initial telegram along with all the others that flooded their inbox. I read mine and as you know popped in and said HI, I also posted in the TWP forum. Some of the telegrams I acknowledged with a friendly note explaining that until I had a better understanding of the game and the assorted characters I wouldn't consider any change of region. I do not regret my decision as I find TWP friendly, mature and inclusive. But I could have just classed the telegram as recruitment and as I was already here ignored it. A "glad you decided to stay in TWP, why not pop into the RMB and say HI so that we can get to know each other. If you need any help with understanding the game, then we are here to help you. Also make sure you read the WestPacific forum to get a better understanding of this regions politics" is a nice gesture. It also let's sleeper (spy?) NS know that their presence has been noted......
  10. Hi Omsk. I'm British and also new to the game. TWP is a very active region and the members I have met so far are very helpful.
  11. Love to see there are people in NS who share my fascination with Cosmology. I am strictly amateur, my father once said about me "we look at the sky and see the stars, your sister (meaning me) look at the sky and wonders what is between". I have read most popular books on the subject and am fully prepared to admit I just don't understand - but then didn't someone once say "if anyone claims to understand Quantum Theory, they are lying!"? I think the most meaningful thought experiment I have ever read is that everything we know could be one electron travelling back and forth in time and colliding. Going back it is an anti-electron - physics as we currently understand it can't tell the difference between an electron going forwards and an anti going backwards so electron+anti=nothing (everything is still nil). When it meets itself it creates a photon and both the electron and it's anti switch states as they reverse direction - colliding an electron/anti-electron pair has been tested (ok... "Nothing" creates a photon... Weird, but still in line with Quantum theory). Eventually the photons degrade and create Quarks (still following the thought....) the quarks merge and create matter (still feasible) so everything we think we see, feel, observe is due to nothing (that electron and it's negative) and that is all there is, was and ever will be...... Then I realise that the energy lost in the collusion that can be seen as the photon means that one electron/anti pairing is stupid (eventually it(they?) would lose all energy so can't move) - so there must be more than one but the underlying idea remains sound. Everything we see, know..... It's all come from nothing. Nothing split itself due to randomness and created everything. This "quantum" energy is proven - it is called the Casimir effect.
  12. I'll sit back as I'm too new to understand the politicking, but this will be great to learn from so I'll be paying close attention. It will enable me to learn more about my neighbours, how they think and how they work together.
  13. Lol, finished it! Posted in Accounts, culture. I will have to write up the music if anyone is interested as it is an original song and no recorded version exists. I'm not even sure I still have a copy of the sheet music lol. If someone can tell me how to link to it like Fujai did, I'll link it. Ty Fujai! Here's the link! Anthem
  14. Too new to have one yet, but I am getting my staff to work on one based on a song I had published back in the early 80's. It's got a great marching beat and a rousing chorus - just need to rework the words. A song about nuclear war for a nice peaceful colony doesn't quite work lol
  15. I have been reading the threads on new legislation, so I know that it would be a good idea to try and draft something to cover what I would like to see replace it. And also word it like those that got through to draft. But I'm really looking for pointers as to whether this is something which I should spend time working on, or whether I'll just get shot down in flames. Having seen some horrendously drafted regulations IRL, I know that drafting is not easy. But I honestly feel that this Resolution is just so full of loopholes it would be better repealed in full and left to each nation to set their own standards for EVERYTHING. I believe many nations will see that there is a "food and Drug" standard and be oblivious to the massive loophole in it. [OOC] Sorry, but food additives are a pet peeve of mine. I came across this loophole a few months ago as the food labelling regulations do not cover "additives" and it made my son very ill because the label didn't specify exactly WHAT additive it contained - it just said "smoke flavouring".
  16. No I checked that. You can't amend a resolution, it must be repealed and replaced. OOC - I know I might seem a bit pernickety, but I am actually legally trained (UK law lol) and have a lot of experience with EU regulations and interpreting them. This one grated on my nerves as soon as I read it. Food colouring is not "food" or "drug" - it slips through a lot of EU regulations because of this. Food safety legislation uses "produced" to sneak in anything that falls in the gaps, and that has been held to include washing vegetables for sale - bagged salads for instance. Just imagine if these used a toxic gas to preserve them, or the gas was contaminated with a deadly virus (anthrax for example). The same goes for bottled water - that's why EU legislation used "prepared or produced".
  17. I posted this in the RGM and got told it was the wrong place. I'm hoping this is the correct place. I'm having problems in my nation due to contaminated bottled water which is not covered under the above regulation as it is not a "food" or a "drug" - I believe that the way the resolution is drafted is too restrictive as there are many items that are ingested/absorbed that cannot be classed as a "food" or "drug" but that I believe should be covered by the same level of regulation. I appreciate that saying that the legislation is "too restrictive" when I want GREATER regulation, but it is the fact that if something cannot be defined as a food or drug then there is no international standard that I want addressed. Originally I was just thinking of "food additives" (colouring, flavouring) where I felt standards should apply, but I now appreciate that it is much wider than just additives. Here is my original draft - bash it as you will, I'm thick skinned and this is my first lesson. My fledgling nation has recently had problems with contaminated bottled water and defective food additives. I checked through the World Assembly and came across the above resolution and discovered that it only covered Food and Drugs, although no definition of either was given. It is in my opinion too restrictive in that it should cover anything that may be inhaled, consumed, injected or otherwise absorbed by the members of our nations. If you are a diver, then it does not cover the preparation of the air in your breathing apparatus. If you buy a bottle of water, it does not cover the preparation of the water. If you add colouring to food, it does not cover the preparation of the colour. I could go on, but all of these can create potentially dangerous situations. I therefore propose a repeal of GAR #64and it's replacement with a Resolution covering anything that may be ingested, inhaled or absorbed by a member of a Nation, that has been produced for use by other members on a commercial basis. This would not cover harvesting your own food and using it to feed yourself and your family or friends - but would mean that if you bottle water for selling even from a roadside stall, or from a basket on a beach that water can be tested and would be covered by the Resolution. Thank you
