But you've also been clear that I've been part of it, when I've been explicitly avoiding placing any blame on you at all.

As for how it looks, I'm just echoing the voices of those who have raised issue. I only really felt the need to do so because Elegarth was rather offhandedly dismissing them, and I felt they deserved a tad better than that. I don't think I was out of place to say there has been an increase in these complaints -- there have been an uncharacteristically large amount since the Voice or whatever it's called was dissolved.

I suppose the difference between you and every other person in NS, is you are the leader of a regime that has been through some rather controversial events lately, specifically ones that involved deliberate and calculated attempts to remove the sovereignty of another GCR. Despite the friendship between our regions that probably makes some people a tad nervous.

I'm not going to deal with that last line, since it's just an attempt to extrapolate this issue into something it's not.

The difference here (which I thought was rather obvious) is that in that case you were being defensive against outsiders. Now you are being defensive against residents of TWP, who have a much greater right to be critical and deserve to be responded to constructively rather than dismissed.

You are using claims of paranoia and insinuations that people are groundlessly fearmongering as a defence against the opinions of your own people. You therefore belittle those opinions, when you should be using them to understand the attitude of the region and adapt your own stance as a leader appropriately.

I am an administrator in Albion and have been closely involved with the community for a number of years now. Whilst I do my absolute best to separate my ambitions and do the best for each region independently, I have never claimed any sort of nonsensical immunity to bias based on duality. Tancerlo and Consular are one and the same, and my opinions are not separate from region to region. One can be responsible and balance multiple interests, but to do so it is important to recognise the limitations of this and how conflicts can arise, as through awareness you can try to avoid them. Duality hides from the problem and is misleading to others.

They are the same person, that is the end of that for all practical purposes. There is no such thing as 'subject to duality'. Duality is not a special status that gives protection or anything ridiculous like that. Most players don't even recognise it as a valid thing these days.   Besides, as Westwind noted it's all about politics. Regardless of whether Vlagh acts independently of the NPO Emperor's ambitions or not, you are still allowing the person who is simultaneously the NPO Emperor to dissolve the civilian government in TWP. Just think about how that looks, and it might explain the surge in anti-NPO sentiment that Elegarth is trying so desperately to dismiss.       You're being a bit obtuse. Calling people's opinions stupid is very close to calling them themselves stupid and most will take it this way. Your words should always be judged by how others will receive them, not by how you might have subjectively meant them.       You certainly have the right to play that way and I don't begrudge you it. But people get to have opinions on that style of playing too, and said style very much does make you just as vulnerable to accusations of influence, just as vulnerable (in my opinion more so) than players who are the same everywhere.   The people of TWP do not have to shut up about anything.

See my comment in the other thread.  This is silly.  The Delegate has the authority to ignore an offsite government, but not to dissolve it.

And this my friends is the crux of the issue.

The delegate has no authority as far as I can tell to dissolve the offsite government. But Minister of Legislative RP did, technically, and he may have some backing to do so.

I have no desire to participate in any form of government that can be so unilaterally dissolved without so much as a notice. The reason is, why invest in something if someone  - per whatever - just wants to pull the rug out.

    Not cool in my book.

An apology is a good start, but soft words butter no parsnips.  I'll put my little rebellion on hold for now and wait and see what transpires.

No mean Machiavelli is ingenious Ivan Moldavi.

And if you can name the movie I paraphrased that from without going to the Internet, I'll buy you a beer.

Most TWPian thing?  I beg to differ and I've been around here a lot longer than most.  It is a most un-TWPian thing.  Most of our off-site governments have not had or needed a buffer or fuse between the Delegate and the government.

Please don't try and sell this as something it isn't.

Personally I think you have every right to be concerned.  Don't get me wrong I have a lot of respect for Vlagh/Pieconium/Ivan and his achievements in the NS universe.

    Trust him?  Not so much.

    Emphasis mine.

First.  Please stop name dropping to legitimize the actions taken. "Darkesia created the position"  is no reason to keep that position.  Second: That is not why I created the position.

This is not to say that I agree or disagree with the actions taken by the current Delegate.  It is only to say that you cannot lay this at my feet.  Nor should you feel comfortable insisting that the position remain active, if the people feel threatened by the very existence of the position.  I ask, Elegarth, (rhetorically) when a child is afraid of monsters in the closet, does belitteling those fears help to assuage them?

Don't get me wrong, I don't have any agenda against Ivan or anything. I just personally think duality is not possible and does not survive the toughest of interactions. People aren't capable of completely compartmentalizing their thoughts, opinions, and ambitions.

It also isn't childish to ask questions Elegarth. Calling dissenters childish is a pretty dismissive way of dealing with issues.

Russo, I've been with you all along trusting your decisions and discretion.  You have a tough and at times thankless position that requires thought in avenues that most of us will never understand.  And you've handled yourself with wisdom and honor.  However, this role Vlagh is playing does not sound like something we would do in TWP.  Its ominous and puts a spectre around our offsite government that quite frankly breeds distrust, secrecy, and puts people off in a way that was the very problem last week.  I implore you to reconsider.  A reset because you don't like the way things are going is not the response we need in TWP!  We need open transparent decision making to put the people in position to be active participants in a flourishing government.

I'm sorry, but then why are we having a diplomatic relationship with them in the first place when they are the most unstable form of government in the whole NS world? I, as ambassador, treated the native Airspace government like any other. I, in my heart, believed that was the mission that was assigned to me ever since Recu gave me the job. To support and uphold the native Airspacers. As neighbors. As allies. As friends. I'm starting to get the impression that I was doing my job totally, totally wrong. What a f__k-tastic way to start the day.(Rhime intended.)

Get your much needed rest, Ele, but it was you who took my comment as a "blame".
And don't get me started with responsibility, all members of the WP are not equal — that's what the various ranks are for.

As Yy says, "it takes a village". Well, I and numerous others have been working, really working, at the RMB and in offsite — to build and maintain an active, inviting and positive atmosphere. Where were the "awfully-wrong" blamers all this time?
And are you sure you read my post? Didn't you notice comms being initiated weeks ago? Where on earth did you see that "many else still waited for others to do"?
Look, we were talking. We weren't immobilized, observing life passing by. I really don't know where you found all these to accuse us of!
And you didn't hear us complaining, while we were working the RMB. But we've been tolling the bell in various ways, for the WP leadership to wake up. And now that finally the awakening time has come, you're also blaming the alarm clock for not showing enough initiative!

Look, you are (not only you, Ele — all you's who are in the lead) experienced and grown-up enough to understand that, when you have something beneficial getting born at last, it's mature to welcome it and not transfer blame by finger-pointing people who are at an inferior position (in terms of rank, experience or duties). True leaders lead, they don't blame. If someone in a team feels that initiatives are not encouraged, cultivated or given proper attention, and this gets noticed by the team's leader, then a true leader would say "sorry I hadn't made that clear enough" and move on — (s)he won't chastise their team.
When a man points a finger at someone else, he should remember that four of his fingers are pointing at himself.

Now, go get some rest, we've got a whole lot of new, wonderful things to create here in TWP.

May I remind you of an old saying from Korea: 'A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.', which means that a small effort can achieve great things.
Remember when Medio sent a regional telegram telling us to join the FA department, shortly after the government was revamped? There was a boom of new players applying for both ambassadorship and membership in the Voice, and I believe that was how many people who are now active here, including me, Drak, BBB, Fujai, and many others, got to know the community here.
Yes, recruitment is hard. It may take a hell lot of our precious time. But all it takes could be a single telegram.

The off-site government(regardless of what form it takes) is under the jurisdiction of the Legislative RP Minister, which is in turn appointed by the delegate.
Is it just me, or is TWP becoming more and more NPO-ified?

Anyway, the voice WAS open. There WAS a planning forum for DAs to do planning, before they all got automatically fired. The Voice of the West Pacific Union WAS open. Not anymore - now it's just a blasted ruin full of clustered paperwork and people who didn't do their jobs..... for now.
