Longtime Organized Crime Fugitive Busted In The Alcheran Riviera After Posting A Cooking Video Online
By Marcell MargaranThough Polari smuggler Claude Bergara made sure to hide his face in the videos, authorities recognized his distinctive tattoos. The mobster who was on the lam in the Alchera was caught and extradited last week after posting videos of himself giving cooking tutorials on a popular video-sharing website.
According to The Sentenet, Claude Bergara is a member of the Capicola family within an infamous mafia-like Covington group, which has long been increasing its reach and destructive influences. The organization is believed to be responsible for most of the cocaine that enters Polaris.
Bergara had been a fugitive since June 1420, when Basric prosecutors issued a warrant for his arrest for trafficking cocaine into Nieubasria in connection with other major investigations against organized crime. According to NB News, he escaped to a Kurabian ex-pat community in the Riviera late last year, where he remained under the radar until posting a cooking video that featured himself and his wife on his video channel.
It is unclear how many videos he has posted to his channel and for how long he was hosting these cooking tutorials before he was caught. Though he carefully avoided showing his face on camera, Bergara was nonetheless identified by his distinctive tattoos. The 33-year-old was consequently extradited on Monday and flown to Clarendon to face trial.
According to NB News, when asked about the possibility of extradition to face trial for the charges Bergara faces in other nations, Basric prosecutors insisted that "there are established processes and those will be followed".
For the Basric authorities, Bergara's arrest was the latest in a string of operations aimed to weaken and expose the Covington syndicate. The Estates-Minister of the Prince's Peace, the head law-enforcement official in the country, issued a warning in November 1420 that Nieubasria has reason to believe that the syndicate is present "on each continent" and it called on each nation to recognize the international threat.
Bergara had been living quietly in the Alcheran Riviera for at least eight months before his arrest.

Nieubasria is a nation of 15 million residents, located in the northwest heart of Polaris. Cricket is enjoyed by a relatively small number of people in Nieubasria, though they tend to be wealthier people which finance their local clubs through systems similar to Patronage. Cricket Basria is a national sport organization whose mission is the organization of the national cricket team for Nieubasria. Individual cricket clubs retain much decision making power within the nation, and Cricket Basria is a fairly new National Sports Federation (NSF) which represents each local club or association solely for external relations. Trei- "We have made it to the gold-medal match and it is against the skilled Larxian team which just last night defeated Cambria without their star Goalkeeper. There was lots of talk this World Cup about the mystique of Keller and his incredible shutouts-"
Mona- "I think it is a massive credit to the Cambrian team that the only two teams who managed goals against them are in the championship game. Keller has really defined this Cup, and going forward I will be looking more closely to the early Group Stage games to see who manages a score against Cambria - because they will certainly be a team to watch."
Trei- "Absolutely. I am sure some of us wanted to see the brother nations of Basria and Cambria duke it out in the championship match, but against the Larxians it is no doubt going to be an intense game."
Mona- "Trei you know how much I love those funny little traditions and superstitions in sport, right? Well here is one I absolutely enjoy - one of the ushers at the Nephele Pitch for the Championship Game watch party snapped this picture and posted it to social media. For those listening at home, this is a photo of the grand lobby of the Nephele Pitch - those familiar with the Pitch will recognize this is the area which displays the team's international trophies and medals but there is a black velvet curtain draped over the display case!"

Mona- "Glad to be here Trei,"
Trei- "I would like to start off with an update to the Earc Velding homicide - police have confirmed the death of a second of the alleged carjacker-murderers, 23, while in hospital. The third was confirmed to be in a stable state and awaiting further investigation. This information came right on the heels of rumours of there being a video taken of the incident, put police decline to comment whether this is true."Mona- "This entire incident is a tragedy. The youth wasted, the talent lost, all for some joyride? I- I just cannot fathom what the Velding family is going through. Or the team for that matter! Later the very same day their captain befell this crime, they still had to play against a strong team like the Zoranians."
Trei- "Right, and in that game Camdyn Cartwrighte, the temporary captain taking over for Earc must have been guided by someone because the way the team pulled together was just incredible-"
Mona- "and even the Cambrians had some connections to overcome. The long-speculated relationship between Earc Velding and Stefan Keller has been confirmed and must have been an even heavier blow for Stefan; but there he was, putting his game face on and proceeded to shut out his sixth game of this World Cup. Truly the makings of a sporting legend here."
Trei- "And there is a good chance that we will see the Astorian teams directly against one another in the finals either the Gold or Bronze match - something not seen even in the Summer Olympics in Saint-Josalyn, mind you - and it will have been after such a traumatic event."
Mona- "Everyone at home, please don't forget that the only team thus far that has been able to get in a goal against the Cambrians, or I should say Keller, have been the Basric Nationals under Earc Velding. We will see if this witch's charm will be upheld in the games to come - was it Velding or some greater Astorian juju dispelling the mystifying streak?"
Trei- "Well the Larxian team will have an opportunity to test that hypothesis in the high-stakes, high-skill environment of the semifinals. Anything can happen. And not to mention the symmetry of Polaris versus Andolia in these semifinals games is just so satisfying,"
Mona- "Absolutely right- and as an added layer, both teams head into tonight's Nieubasria-Nagaraningrad game with alternates to some of their star players."
Trei- "Yeah- while we all know about Camdyn Cartwrighte replacing Earc Velding, some may not know that the Nagaranian team has had to rotate out their goalkeeper Aditya Bach Dim due to a hands injury. Raden Irawan, a goalkeeper with a respectable record with the Nagaranian team is stepping in at least for the semifinals game."

. . Police: 2 Injured, 1 Dead After Stolen Vehicle Crashes Into Median Outside Steskia
February 27, 1421, 3:54 amThe two inner lanes of the westbound Thraproy Regional Highway heading in to Steskia are currently closed after a stolen vehicle crashed into the median. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the car, according to police.
Police declined to answer whether this accident has any connection to the homicide-car jacking in Perthdoches.

Over and over again, investigators examining international criminal networks point to a common thread -- the ease with which many in the network travel the world using fake passports or illegally obtained immigration documents.
Jens Meklinbourg, the focus of this report, was somewhat of an expert in fake passports. As an operative for GETEFRAN, he used a counterfeit Deneirian passport to enter Nieubasria and apply for political asylum. While living there, he supplied forged passports to other contacts in his network -
some of the known forgeries include Kurabian, Fujansk, and Alcheran. And he used a fake Basric passport under the alias of Aldwin Ealdwin in his failed attempt to enter the United Kingdom of Tara and Cambray to orchestrate a chemical attack at an industrial facility.
At the 1420 trial, Meklinbourg testified that he was trained in these and other security-avoidance techniques at a training camp in Central Andolia. He also testified that a GETEFRAN representative had recruited him to supply the group with falsified passports.
The picture of GETEFRAN that is emerging through Meklinbourg's case and ongoing investigations is of a sophisticated terrorist network, able to send "sleeper" agents like Meklinbourg anywhere in the world. GETEFRAN depends on the ability to travel internationally in order to raise funds, recruit operatives, train the operatives in Central Andolia and send them out to plan and conduct terrorist attacks or further build a network within a target country. Key to their international mobility is being able to circumvent immigration laws and law enforcement watch lists.
Investigators believe that there may be specialized GETEFRAN and other international criminal cells operating in Polaris and Aura whose goalb is to supply passports and other documents that can be used by its operatives. There are various ways they obtain and use passports:
- The terrorist can physically alter a valid passport -- stolen or purchased from an accomplice -- by changing the picture or biographical data.
- In some countries, terrorists may be able to purchase an official passport in their own name, or an alias, by bribing a corrupt official or obtaining one in the black market. Stolen passports may be readily available for sale in most countries.
- The terrorist can make a counterfeit passport, hoping that the border agent wouldn't be able to identify the forgery.
There's another angle on the trafficking in fake passports. Investigations by Basric and Cambric officials revealed relationships between terrorists and organized criminal syndicates who smuggle humans across borders. It is a huge international business, with brokers in poor countries demanding up to 250,000฿ per person in order to smuggle people into Nieubasria and other developed nations. To avoid detection, the smugglers are constantly changing their routes and methods. Some also rely on huge numbers of fake passports, routing people through as many as two other countries to hide the country of origin. "The terrorists have made common cause with 'people smugglers' who are very good at supplying false documentation," says Leo Laine, a director of the Centre for the Prevention of Human Trafficking. "It gives the terrorists a ready source of altered counterfeit passports and, if needed, the smugglers may assist them in being smuggled into the target country."
The Meklinbourg case illustrated how easily terrorists can enter Nieubasria and other developed nations. Meklinbourg got into Nieubasria on a clearly doctored Deneirian passport and avoided detention simply by applying for asylum. Since Meklinbourg's arrest, at least two other suspected terrorists have been detained in Nieubasria; both had entered as asylum seekers. Many other suspected or prospective terrorists have entered countries by manipulating immigration laws.
Since the "Papers, Please" incident, Nieubasria has decided to spend hundreds of millions of basmarks to beef up internal security and add agents to the border and ports of entry. They are also changing the asylum process so that applicants must undergo background checks before they can stay in the country. The Basrians are also attempting to centralize the terrorist "watch lists" between Intelligence Agencies in order to keep better track of suspects.
The Basric Government also inaugurated the Multinational Working Group Regarding Passport Security and Travel Document Standards as an attempt to combat the sources of foreign fraud and increase the overall strength of the international travel document security system.
National security expert Graham Todor says the Hier is discussing a number of proposals that were originally introduced by the Basric Astorian Peoples’ Party in 1402 but were tabled at the end of session. These proposals include:
- Denial of entry to anyone who has supported or joined or is suspected of having supported or joined a terrorist organization,
- A mandate for information sharing between Intelligence Services and Immigration Services,
- Creating or joining international watch lists for terror and organized crime,
- Computerized systems to track visa holders,
- Additional support for officials to conduct background checks on all visa applicants.
These proposals were opposed by free-trade organizations, immigrant support groups, universities and privacy advocates in the past because they would add time and paperwork to those attempting to enter Nieubasria legitimately and could affect foreign trade. Since Meklinbourg, however, most of the opposition has been removed and new laws governing immigration could pass The Esquiry by the end of the year.
"I know we cannot possibly catch every terrorist or criminal entering our borders," Todor states, "but if perhaps we apprehend one or two, we might be able to unravel the whole network."

You know that feeling when, for just a couple moments after waking up, you have no idea where you are or how you got there?
Unusually bright morning sun glinting off bleach-white linens, your glasses just a little further away than you're used to.
Your eyes slowly adjusting to the light and the view out the window becoming more familiar.
It is weird how fast a hotel room can feel like a fey version of home. Everything is just slightly different, but strangely comforting - like a hug from a childhood friend you haven't seen in years. Years collapse into days as the estrangement breaks down; seconds become minutes as the illusion of the person you remember dissolves as you embrace the person you no longer know.
A yawn, stretch, and a grunt. The floor coalesces under the feet of Cadi Conor as she stares out of the window to the oddly mesmerizing morning flow of the traffic on one of Perthdoches' arterials. She blinks as though she can will the sleep from her eyes and pads her way silently past the man sleeping on the couch. A light handkerchief resting over his face, fully dressed in a now-wrinkled suit save for the jacket laid carefully on the table next to an array of photos and documents worthy of a conspiracy documentary.
Cadi flicks the small coffee pot on her way to the bathroom and quietly closes the door. Not one to be left with her thoughts, Cadi pops in her waterproof ear buds and turns up the music.
That flashing blue light. That office. That ALARM. They take up any empty space Cadi leaves in her head. Any space not taken up by that note, that is. Images of cut out letters flash whenever she closes her eyes. They were burned into her brain, having stared at it so long. Don't move. Don't breath too deeply. Wait. Wait for the "professionals". We were supposed to BE the professionals.Cadi abruptly turns the shower to cold. Shock takes up enough space, at least for a little while. She reaches for the lotion and dollops some of the white face cream into her hand - and just stares for a moment. She wipes it off on a towel and exits the bathroom. The man isn't on the couch, and she freezes in place.
"Good morning Naz" she calls out into the room, tentatively. Her eyes instinctively dart to her side table to confirm her gun was still there. Listening, the sound of coffee pouring eases her slightly.
Naz clears his throat, and from around the corner he says "Morning Ms. Conor". Too formal for the amount of time they've been working so closely, Cadi thought. Clad in a towel, Cadi retrieved her coffee. "I think I may have found something last night in your father's accounts. Regarding International Doping-Laundering Schemes
The Sovereign Estates remain alarmed by the development of international networks facilitating the sale and transfer of performance enhancing drugs for use in international sporting events. The Estates-Ministry has flagged a number of accounts in unregulated cryptofinance sectors for suspected involvement in these doping networks and the related international money laundering. The Estates-Ministry will continue to monitor the activity of these and all related accounts.
Today, the Estates-Ministry for the Overthere took action to impose visa restrictions on 33 Dilberian individuals linked or suspected to be linked to the accounts, making them generally ineligible for entry into the Sovereign Estates. These individuals include: high-ranking sports officials; popular sports bloggers; various housewives and homemakers; and various IT administrators who have the capacity to facilitate such a network.

Basric Soccer Association
The Basric Soccer Association is a national sport organization whose mission is the organization and promotion of soccer in Nieubasria. To develop talented Nieubasric soccer players to achieve Olympic, Paralympic and World Championship medal performances, BSA convenes amateur and semi-professional soccer leagues from which it chooses members of the National Team. BSA became a Convenorate in 1387 when the two remaining members under the previous federative structure merged under then Convenor Baron-Esquire Conrad Ellise.
A Convenorate is unitary organization structure under a single Convenor, usually the Patron, that serves as the figurehead. Convenorates will most often have a form of Board or Trusteeship which publishes bylaws and manages the hiring for the official posts of the organization, such as Manager of the National Teams.

of the 1419 Rugby World CupThe Basric men’s rugby team will soon find out whether consistent players on the roster will translate to consistent results on the field against top competition.
Nieubasria announced its roster Friday for its second Rugby World Cup entry. It features only 11 of the 15 players that were on the opening squad for Nieubasria’s first RWC team, as well as a new team captain – Maon Innes.
“It’s a quick turnaround in the domestic League, and the roster has been quite consistent throughout the last few seasons” Nieubasria head coach Simone Vaughan said Friday in a phone interview. “When you’re working internationally it really is important to get that consistency of quality of challenge and keep your best feet forward.
“But more importantly we’re investing in people, and we want to keep investing in a consistent squad of players.”
Loosehead Prop Arailt MacIlleDhuinn of Irvon Hill RC and Outside Centre Pàl Breathnach of Glenarden RC are the newcomers from the Basric Semiprofessional Rugby League.
They replace Cayson Donovan and Dilan Salas.
It’s the first call-up for Breathnach, who helped Irvon Hill finish first in both halves of the inaugural BSpR season and impressed Dickson with his play against tougher opponents in the Basric Championship.
“He showed solid performances in his run against top-ranked teams in the Basric Championship,” Dickson said. “And he’s got a level of flexibility. He has a real physicality about his game, which I think is important coming into the game with the Libterrerian team.”
“He’s a very steady midfield player with great energy,” Dickson said. “He’s tactically disciplined but has that creative streak in him that I think’s important for the type of player we want.”
“The Libterrarians will have their own motivations,” Dickson said. “We have to come with that same spirit, that same mindset that this is about qualifying for the Quarterfinals and we’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen.”
The Basrics placed fourth of four in the Group Stages at the preceding World Cup, and critics say that the lineup shuffle will not be enough to overcome the strong teams they have been placed with in this year’s group stages.
Cambria, also placed in Group A this year alongside Nieubasria, is also hoping for a strong showing coming off of the across-the-board dominance of the Astorian nations in the Summer Olympics in Saint Josalyn.
Dickson said the senior team has been able to build consistency both tactically and culturally over the past few training sessions, and now it’s starting to see the fruits of those labours.
“The tactical framework we’ve embedded has since got better as we’ve come up against better opposition, we’ve learned and we’ve adapted. But what we’re starting to see is that consistency. We’re able to show an identity better and have become more aggressively strategic onfield.
“The more results we gain as a team, the more people understand how important this journey is through World Cup, and that every game counts,” Dickson said.
“We’re building something. And having our best players in every camp helps us keep building the momentum. It helps our young fans see our best players turn up to Clarendon, or Saint Aiaden, or wherever we’re playing regardless of who the opponent is, I think that’s crucial to keep growing the game in this country.

PUBLIC BULLETTIN RE: VOLUNTARY HEALTH INSURANCE ENROLLMENT DEADLINE
The Hierminister for State of Health and Wellness would like to kindly remind all residents that the deadline to voluntarily enroll in a 'short-term' health insurance plan is tonight, May 14th, at 11:59pm (IAT-4). Every subject and resident must enroll with one of the insurance providers listed here before that deadline to avoid the Assignment Fee, which in some cases can cost you up to 20% more than the voluntary premiums.
Each year, approximately 650,000 Basrians are charged over 157฿ million extra through the Assignment Fee. This is avoidable.
In extreme cases, the Hierministry is able to help some individuals overturn the Assignment Fee but this requires a significant burden of proof that you have been incapacitated since the 1421 Voluntary Enrollment Period began in February. The Hierministry will not advocate for exceptions for any others who do not meet those criteria. Do not rely on the possibility of overturning the Fee, and enroll today with a registered health insurance provider.
The Hierministry warns all subjects that there are no private companies or individuals that are able to appeal the Assignment Fee.
Do not provide payment or your personal information to any entity which claims to be able to do so, it is a scam.
