Chris reacted to Giovanniland in 3rd Rugby World Cup [rosters, roleplays, results]
Good morning Giovanniland! I am Karlo Nakamura-Edrense, the main host of the Giovannilandian Sports Report and of its special rugby edition that aims to keep Giovannilandians informed of the latest happenings of the 3rd Rugby World Cup. After yesterday's report that served as an introduction to the 3rd Rugby World Cup, today we'll talk about the first match played by our rugby team and how it went.
Giovanniland 14–7 Hanita Gracse (Halftime: 8-7)
    Tries: Samanta Alba-Nyima (5')
    Drop Goals: Hettor Martiano-Gaio (13'), Nikolo Hortense (43'), Lukio Katullo-Vittori (51')
The first half of the match was the most active of both halves, with both teams scoring a total of 15 points. Samanta scored a try five minutes in, and even though she failed to earn two more points that would have been given if she scored the conversion, these five points from the try were important for Giovanniland to start well in the game. Eight minutes later, backside flanker Nikolo scored a drop goal and rose Giovanniland's score to eight, although the Hanita Gracse team soon scored a try and a conversion to bring the score to a close 8-7, which persevered during halftime.
After returning to the field, the team swiftly followed her orders, with drop goals by Nikolo and Lukio scored within 11 minutes of the second half's start. After those, the Giovannilandians took a more defensive strategy in order to secure the 14-7 score, and there wasn't much else to report about the match. The Hanita Gracse team was hoping to score another try and conversion to level the score, but these hopes never came to fruition and the match was won by Giovanniland. Nevertheless, captain Rivano commented that the opponents' performance was very impressive for a World Cup newcomer and respected the Hanita Gracsean team.
Following the match, head coach Aquila Pinario-Oddo congratulated the team, and noted that Matchday 2 has a tough challenge ahead for Giovanniland, as they will meet 1st Rugby World Cup champions Hertfordshire and Jammbo. Our head of state, King Giovanni VI, also praised the team for its Matchday 1 performance and wished the team good luck in future matches, during a casual meeting with Prince Marcarius of Saint Mark at New Zoradia, hundreds of kilometers away from Leo Rugiet where our team is stationed. This is reporter Karlo signing off, as our TV channel will move on to non-sports news. See you in two days for the Rugby Report about Matchday 2!

For the 2nd matchday, if you want to, talk about the process how a player becomes a part of your national team. Be creative (but with the bounds of realism)!

Chris reacted to Zoran in 3rd Rugby World Cup [rosters, roleplays, results]
The host of the Third Rugby World Cup is:

    The Kingdom of Zoran
The Kingdom of Zoran is a nation that primarily consists of two islands in the southeastern part of Aura. Its northern neighbor is Saint Mark, which it shares a long history with under its rule, and in the south is Lavender island nations. It is the third most populous nation in Aura with about 13 million Zoranian. Recently coming out of a civil war, the former capital of Zoradia had been destroyed and has permanently moved to the new city of Zoradia, which is currently under construction.

    Climate
The climate of the region is tropical with generally high humidity and high temperatures year round. All athletes are highly encouraged to hydrate regularly to avoid dehydration or heatstroke.

    LANDMINE WARNING
The Corporate faction of the civil war used dalimbari landmines during the Civil War and placed them in remote and urban areas. While many of them have been removed in the urban areas, the Zoranian Armed Forces are working hard to locate and remove them from the country. Should people travel around the country, be wary of landmines that may remain from the civil war, should you see a landmine please report it to the Landmine Removal Commission at +2 66 (700)-LANDMINES with coordinates (you can retrieve them from any GPS system on your mobile device). If you see a landmine, avoid the area at all costs as one landmine may be accompanied by others. If you step on a landmine, DO NOT MOVE, any shift in weight can set it off. Immediately call the Landmine Removal Commission and tell them your situation and your coordinates, a Demining Squad will be sent to your location as soon as possible where they will disarm the mine and get you to safety. To avoid the risk of landmines, do not travel alone in remote areas of the jungle, stick to main roads or designated trails, consider getting a tour guide, or avoid remote areas where you cannot get a steady cellular connection.

    Regarding Platypi
If you see a platypus, please leave it alone. They might look weird to most and while some may find them cute, they are wild animals that are protected under Zoranian law. Please leave them alone, do not touch them, anyone found touching or disturbing wild platypi, outside of exceptions such as moving them out of the way of traffic, as well as poaching, capturing, trafficking, etc. may face imprisonment for up to 60 days or a fine of up to Ⓩ600 (~$1000 USD).

    Regarding The Yemiduga Nightmare
Travelers are advised to be mindful if you hear or talk about The Yemiduga Nightmare. It was a horrendous act committed by the corporates that is a black mark on Zoranian history. It is a sensitive topic for our people and all the facts about it are yet to have been discovered. It is unknown how many people have died as a result of it or how long the corporations had been operating those facilities. There are a fair number of survivors from that horror so it is heavily advised for people to either do their research before discussing it or avoid discussing it if they don’t know anything about it.(If someone wishes to discuss it or mention it in a post dm Zoran for details as it has yet to appear in the Zoranian Civil War storyline)

    Cities hosting the World Cup
    Divando Gadoatalesv

    Stadium: Spirit Park
    Capacity: 94,736
To be used for Group A and Knock-out group
Divando Gadoatalesv, which roughly translates to “Spirit Pit” is one of the oldest Zoranian cities in the country with a population of around 974,539 people. It got its name from the large cenote that can be found outside of the city that was once believed to be a bridge between the Spirit Realm and the land of Esferos. You can find many cultural wonders here if you tour the old city, you may even find local artisans selling traditional Zoranian crafts such as woven baskets, jade jewelry, and spirit ward talismans. However, there are sporting venues in this city as well such as the Esferiad training pool where the Zoranian swim team practices.

    Daninogisgv Galosga/Marelitus

    Stadium: Panther Field
    Capacity: 82,000
To be used for Group B and knockouts
Daninogisgv Galosga roughly translates to “Singing Falls” in common and it is named for the various waterfalls you may find outside the city. While many of these are not large, the various rivers and waterways create many small waterfalls whose gurglings used to be considered a form of the spirits singing by the Zoranians of old. The city started as a Saint Mark settlement as an outpost for trade and the local Zoranians in the area mingled with the settlers. The city was Marelitus, the Saint Markian name for the city meaning seashore, is an example in Zoranian history where Zoranians and Saint Markians were able to coexist with each other despite their differences. In those times the city served as a trade city and as a military outpost that guarded an ancient city that supposedly existed where New Zoradia now stands called Tutum, which meant safe probably due to its safe location inland. This city is the home of the Esferiad Planning Committee Headquarters and the location where the Zoranian Athletics Awards are normally held. It is a favorite among sports enthusiasts to visit as you can find many shops selling sports team memorabilia. The city is also known for its beaches that many people from around the world come to visit. It is on these beaches that the Zoranian beach volleyball team regularly practices.

    Leo Rugiet

    Markanus Stadium
    Capacity: 81,338
To be used for Group C and knockouts
Leo Rugiet, meaning Lion’s Roar, is one of the cities built by Saint Mark colonists when Saint Mark conquered Zoran years ago. The city is a fine example of how Saint Mark culture and Zoranian culture has mixed together to form a diverse and lively city. Today, people of Saint Markian and Zoranian heritage live here and have produced a special syncretized subculture within the country and they have their own dialect of Zoranian that is very different from other dialects in the country. The reason for this being the large Saint Markian majority in the city for most of its existence, leading to the Zoranians living there creating a more Saint Markian based Zoranian dialect than in other cities where the two peoples used to interact. Being one of the few cities that was lucky enough to avoid conflict during the civil war, the city has been the site of one of the largest IDP camps within the country and has been helping people in resettling in the cities they fled from.

    Yemiduga City:

    Stadium: The Conquest Ring
    Capacity: 140,736
Used for Group D and Finals
A bit of RP on deciding on this city for…reasons
“Your Majesty, with all due respect, have you lost your mind!?” exclaimed General Waholi, “The former capital of the corporations!? You want that city to be one of the three to host the games?!”
Atsil looked up at General Waholi from the report she was reading, the only thing she seems to have been able to do these days, and met his eyes with a cool gaze, unfazed by her general’s reaction,
“Yes I am sure. The city was not badly damaged during the final push, most of the damage having been repaired or being minor enough to not pose an issue. The stadium was untouched and remains in operation, plus it is large enough to hold massive crowds.”
“But…what about the nightmare we found th-” she held up her hand, silencing her general,
“Yes, I understand that completely, general, but last time I checked you were the Minister of Defense, and I do not recall the Rugby World Cup to be a military invasion of any sorts. So I strongly advise you to keep to issues relating to your ministry rather than worrying about the minor implications of hosting the games in the former capital of the corporations. Do I make myself clear?” Waholi frowned at the Queen but let out a sigh as he nodded,
    “Yes Your Majesty…”
“Good, now please leave my office as I have much to get done today.” General Waholi rose to his feet and bowed to Atsil, an uneasy feeling in his gut tearing inside him as he remembered the horrors he saw within the haven of the corporates.

    Back to the facts
Yemiduga city is the largest city in the country following the civil war with a population of 1.2 million people. Known as a business oriented city you can find the headquarters of some of Zoran’s biggest companies, but after the discovery of The Yemiduga Nightmare by the monarchist forces towards the end of the Civil War many of these companies and their executives are facing trial for human rights violations and crimes against humanity. But tourists to the city can find many museums, art collections, and various amenities within the city. You can also find the famous Joke Boat Comedy Club on its docks where they have nightly comedy routines on the seas, formerly owned by one of the large corporations in Zoran but has since become its own independent venue and has become more available to the masses.

Tupmonia Wiki: Chapter 1, Part 4
The Two Clan Revolt: 94 AF
    Northern Tupmonian Lords: 7,000
    Koni and Okontik Clans: 2,000
The Two Clan Revolt was started by two of the nine remaining Golban clans. The Okontik and Koni clans took up arms against the Tupmonians after some Tupmonians began to settle on their countryside, using the land for farming. The war lasted nearly a year and it saw the end of the Koni clan.

    The Farmland Slaughter:
In around February of 94 AF, a group of around 200 Tupmonian citizens began to settle countryside shared by the Koni and Okontik clans. The clans didn't realize it for about a month but when they did the leader of the Koni clan sent 300 men to drive them off. The Tupmonians refused and fighting began (it’s unknown who started the violence). The Tupmonian citizens were no match for the Koni soldiers and were slaughtered. Some Tupmonians escaped and alerted their lords, while most of the others were killed or captured.
    Tupmonian Casualties: 160 civilians
    Koni Casualties: 12 Soldiers

    Malos Ambush:
Tupmonians (Commander - Ser Marlis Otto): 1,000
Okontik Warriors (Commander - Malo of Okontik): 400
After being alerted, Lord Otto sent his son Ser Marlis with 1,000 men to free the captured Tupmonians. While traveling through the Golban Forest Ser Marlis and his host were ambushed by 400 Okontik men. The Tupmonians were destroyed and Ser Marlis was killed. After this battle the Okontik and Koni clans were in open rebellion against the Tupmonians.
Tupmonian Casualties: 700 (Ser Marlis Otto was killed in battle)
    Okontik Casualties: 30

    Battle of Fiery Fields:
Tupmonians (Commander - Lord Jeffery Balfour): 5,000
Koni and Okontik (Commander - Loel of Hoombaro): 200
When Lord Otto heard of his son's death, he gathered the lords in the region and assembled 5,000 men to conquer enemy lands. A mix 200 Okontik and Koni men were guarding the largest village in Koni territory, just in case raiders would show up, but when the Golban guardsmen saw an army of 5,000 approaching they began to evacuate the town. While some of the clansmen were evacuating citizens, the others were attempting to push the Tupmonians back. The Tupmonian army burned and killed everything in their path, whether it be soldiers or civilians. And the 200 Golbans that were tasked with guarding the field lost the battle in under an hour.
    Tupmonian Casualties: 50
Koni and Okontik Casualties: 190 soldiers + 70 civilians (Loel of Hoombaro was killed in battle)

    Battle of the Border:
Tupmonian Border Guards (Commander - Ser Boros Ike): 300
Okontik and Koni Warriors (Commander - Malo of Okontik): 800
After the Battle of Fiery Fields, Malo of Okontik gathered his 400 men and another 400 Koni men and attempted to advance into Tupmonian lands to retaliate. Malos 800 men were met by 300 Tupmonians that were tasked to defend the border. Even though the Golbans had more men, the Tupmonian guards were better armed and armored, while also holding a terrain advantage. The Tupmonians did a good job holding off the incoming Golbans at first, but eventually a weak point in the Tupmonian line was exploited and Malos men had a fighting chance. Gory fighting continued along the hill, but the Golbans overwhelmed the Tumonians. Ser Boros Ike was captured and the rest of his host was put to the sword.
    Tupmonian Casualties: 280
    Okontik and Koni Casualties: 200

    Battle of Creenor:
Tupmonians (Commander - Lord Randyl Tyke): 700
Okontik and Koni Clansmen (Commander - Malo of Okontik): 600
Malos remaining 600 men continued to advance into Tupmonia. After a few days of advancement, Malos host was met by 700 Tupmonians led by Lord Tyke. After a failed cavalry charge by the Tupmonians to break the enemy, Malo gained an upper hand. The two sides fought fiercely, but Malos' men came out victorious, and Lord Tyke retreated.
    Tupmonian Casualties: 560
    Okontik and Koni Casualties: 300

    Konilo Siege:
Tupmonians (Commander - Lord Jeffery Balfour): 5,000
Koni and Okontik (Commander - Kemal of Koni): 1,000
While Malo and his 800 men advanced into Tupmonia, the rest of the Koni and Okontik clansmen remained in their fortification (Konilo), awaiting the incoming 5,000 Tupmonians from the Battle of Fiery Fields. Lord Balfour decided to storm the fort because of reports of Malo and his men quickly advancing into Tupmonia. The garrison held off the 5,000 Tupmonians for an entire night, until Lord Balfour and his men were forced to retreat. 1,000 Golbans held off 5,000 Tupmonians, this siege is known to be one of the greatest Golban victories in their history. Lord Balfour returned south to help the Tupmonians against Malo.
    Tupmonian Casualties: 3,700
    Koni and Okontik Casualties: 200

    Ikenhall Siege:
Garrison of Ikenhall (Commander - Lord Yorlen Ike): 50
Okontik and Koni Warriors (Commander - Malo of Okontik): 300
After winning two major battles against the Tupmonians, Malo and his men had taken a good portion of Tupmonian land with only 800 men. Malo moved on Ikenhall after winning the Battle of Creenor. Ikenhall’s garrison only consisted of around 50 men (the rest of House Ikes’ men were killed, captured, or scattered in the Battle of the Border). Malo also had the son of Lord Yorlen Ike in his possession, and threatened to kill him if Lord Ike wouldn't surrender. After hours of negotiation Lord Ike decided to surrender his castle in return for his and his people's lives. Malo agreed, but when Lord Ike opened his gates Lord Ike, his family, his men, and his smallfolk were all put to the sword. Malo and his men now held a strong position in Ikenhall.
Tupmonian Casualties: 50 soldiers + 30 castle servants (Lord and Lady Ike were executed, along with their 2 sons and infant daughter)
    Golban Casualties: 0

    Battle of Ikenhall:
Tupmonians (Commander - Lord Jeffery Balfour): 1,700
Okontik and Koni (Commanders - Malo of Okontik, Kemal of Koni): 300 + 800
Lord Balfour and his 1,300 men returned south after their devastating loss at the Konilo Siege. He gathered the remaining men from the Battle of the Border and the Battle of Creenor, Lord Otto also sent 200 men to join Lord Bafours army. The Tupmonian army of 1,700 men laid siege on Ikenhall. Malo and his garrison only had supplies for around a month, so all the Tupmonians had to do was wait. After about a week of siege the Tupmonian army was hit in their rear by Kemal of Koni with his 800 men from the Konilo Siege. When battle ensued Malo and most of his men sallied out of the castle to help his fellow Golbans. Many Tupmonians scattered, but Lord Balfour was able to get his men in formation and fought back fiercely. He focused his force on Malos 230 men and took them out. Kemal's men were more of a problem, their strong shield wall pushed the Tupmonians back to the castle walls, while the remaining Golbans in the castle rained arrows on them. The battle took a turn however, Lord Roote and around 100 men broke a small part of the Koni shield wall. Before the Koni line could recover it was too late. The Tupmonians now had the Golban line in their hands and were able to push them back. The garrison of 70 men that remained in Ikenhall surrendered after hearing the news of Malos death. The captains were killed, while the rest were imprisoned. Kemal was also killed amongst the fighting, but some of his men were able to escape (around 100).
Many historians believe that if the Tupmonians lost this battle they would’ve  eventually lost their northern territory, which in turn might have led to the involvement of the other seven Golban clans, seeing that they might have a chance to win back a heavy chunk of territory back from the Tupmonians. On the other hand, many believe that even if the Golbans did win the battle they wouldn't have enough men to take on the rest of Tupmonia even if the other clans did join the war.
    Tupmonian Casualties: 1,300
Koni and Okontik Casualties: 950 (Malo of Okontik and Kemal of Koni were killed in battle)

    War Turnout:
The remaining Koni and Okontik fighters retreated back into their lands preparing for siege. When the Tupmonians arrived in Koni lands they laid siege on Konilo once more. After about a five week siege the Koni surrendered their fortification and lands (The Second Konilo Siege). When the Okontik heard that their fellow Golbans were defeated they pleaded for peace. The Tupmonians agreed. The Koni clan was destroyed and the Okontik lost half of their lands.

Total Tupmonian Casualties: 6,700 soldiers + 400 civilians
Notable Deaths: Lord Yorlen Ike, Lady Erika Ike, Ser Boros Ike, Ser Marlis Otto, Ser Sam Tyke, Lord Doug Pine, Ser Cranton Ryley

Total Koni and Okontik Casualties: 1,900 soldiers + 300 civilians
Notable Deaths: Malo of Okontik, Kemal of Koni, Loel of Hoombaro

    Geography
Giovanniland occupies the central part of Lavender Island, an island located in the Darkesian Sea between Aura and Andolia, and a territory in northern Andolia, together totalling an area of 395,107 km². The Auran Territory shares a land border with Blue Bubble to the west and Min-Su to the east; while the Andolian Territory borders Varanius to the west, Tupmonia to the south and Fhaengshia to the east. It also borders the Darkesian Sea in three different sections of coast, two in Aura and one in Andolia, all of which contain important cities and ports. The nation also occupies several historically important islands off its coasts, such as Arvonian Island off the Auran coast where the traders from Saint Mark first arrived 1,400 years ago, and the Fernando Islands off the Andolian coast where Fernando II's expedition into the now Andolian part of Giovanniland first arrived. The country lies between latitudes 12° and 26°S, and longitudes 9°W and 9°E, and uses the International Atomic Time (IAT+0) as the timezone of the entire country.
The administrative divisions of Giovanniland are regions in the first level; prefecture or prefecture-level cities in the second level; districts, counties or county-level cities in the third level, and towns in the fourth level. Besides the capital Giovannia, all other prefecture-level cities are located on the coast, for example the important ports of Porto Violeta, Uryde and Andoliaville. County-level cities serve as the administrative centers of prefectures, often being their largest cities, while other counties group together various smaller towns.
Giovanniland's border with Blue Bubble is defined by two rivers, the Arvonian in the south and the Neuryand in the north. The Arvonian River starts flowing south near the city of Alkemaro and debouches into the Darkesian Sea in the coastal town of Manariaus; while the Neuryand River also flows near Alkemaro, but to the northern coast instead. The border with Min-Su has large straight sections unlike its western counterpart—it starts near the town of Armelyana, cuts through the middle of the Garavand rainforest, follows the Lavandula River from Oryantal until Violetina, and finally ends with another vertical line. As for the Andolian border, its western part is defined by the Tumbergia River that debouches into the city of same name at the Varanian border, and then a large straight section until the southwest. The Gustavo River then defines part of the southern border until meeting the Tupmonian border, after which two straight sections define the border with that country until the tripoint with Fhaengshia. The eastern part of the Giovandolian Mountain Range delimits a small southern part of the Fhaengshia-Giovanniland border, whereas the rest follows along the Nia River that debouches into the Trhein Bay.

Left: The Arvonian River flowing in a rural area near the Giovannilandian border. Right: The Great Violet Range.
Giovannilandian topography is diverse and includes several topographical regions. Plains occur in the southwestern and northern parts of the Auran Territory, as well as in the northern part of the Andolian Territory. Highlands are ubiquitous in the Giovannia Magna region and in the Vale Violeta of the Andolian Territory, while the Abrantian and Garavand regions feature unique shrublands and river basins respectively. Last but not least, the Great Violet and Giovandolian mountain ranges feature the highest altitudes of the Giovannilandian nation, while the far away Vale da Konquista has sparsely populated deserts. These divisions have historically delimited the borders of different nations, but technology has helped to unify and coordinate them in modern times. Higher population density is present in the southwestern and northern Auran coasts, as well as in the northern Andolian coast. There is also a high population density in the highlands around the capital Giovannia and the prefectures that surround it, while low population densities are present in the shrublands, mountainous regions, forests, and deserts.
The Auran climate is mainly represented by the three tropical classifications. The equatorial or tropical rainforest climate is present on the Garavand rainforest, the tropical monsoon climate appears in the northern regions, and the tropical savanna climate is registered in most other places. Meanwhile, the Andolian climate is more diverse, featuring subtropical areas in the central part, temperate climate in the Giovandolian Range, and arid desert climate in the far south. Therefore, the year is divided in rainy and dry seasons in most parts of the country, commonly featuring high temperatures up to 40°C due to the country being close to the Equator. The country is far from any tectonic plate boundaries, which makes earthquakes very rare. However, the northern parts of the country are prone to hurricanes and floods, especially in the rainy season due to the monsoon climate.
Giovanniland has a relatively very rich diversity. Some examples are jaguars, ocelots, tapirs, sloths, armadillos, macaws, flamingoes, and anacondas, many of which are only found in the Garavand rainforest. Deep into the rainforest's rivers can be also found some rare species of fish, such as the piranha and the pink dolphin. Meanwhile, the coasts near Giovanniland are home to various types of maritime life, such as large whales and sharks. Finally, the country is home to a large amount of plant species, such as rainforest trees in the southeast, coastal vegetation in the north and southwest, pines and araucarias in the mountainous regions, and small shrubs in the savanna-like Abrantian region. In order to protect this biodiversity, Giovannilandian state policy has included an extensive environmental protection program for the last 130 years. There are several designated national parks, in which sustainable tourism is allowed but no farming or mining can take place. Finally, laws regulate industries to ensure the smallest possible carbon footprint, deforestation and water pollution levels.

    Plows’ Peasant Revolt: 27 AF

    Peasantry of House Plow

Plows’ Peasant Revolt is known to be the first major revolt in Tupmonia. The revolt resulted in the victory of Lord Plow, but major reforms were brought after the revolt – changing the way Tupmonia ran.

The Manor Fires: March 25, 27 AF
In mid January of 27 AF tensions began to rise between Lord Plow and his peasants because of poor treatment and unfair tax rates from Lord Plow. After about a month of pleading for change and continued poor treatment by Lord Plow, 100’s of peasants rose in arms against their lord. Lockwills Manor was burned down where one of Lord Plows' knights (Ser Mark Lifder) was killed in the fire along with a few of Lord Plows' men.

The Mob Attacks: April 3, 27 AF
After the fires, Lord Plow sent 100 of his men to keep the peace among the peasants. When Plows’ men reached the village they were savagely attacked by hundreds of peasants. Violent fighting ensued throughout the village, but the 100 soldiers were not enough. It’s estimated that nearly 130 civilians were killed and 93 of Lord Plows’ men were killed as well.

Grove Hall Massacre: April 18, 27 AF
At this point the peasants gathered near 700 people willing to fight Lord Plow. The leader of the revolt, Jon Rolfe gathered everyone he could and met outside Lord Plow's keep – demanding him to come out. After about an hour Lord Plow ordered his men to open fire on the peasants. This led to some peasants running, while others decided to try to overtake the keep. Hundreds died trying to climb the walls. The few that got over were instantly cut down. Jon Rolfe was killed amongst the fighting. This slaughter put an end to the revolt. Lord Plow was heavily fined by the king for his actions and new tax reforms were put into place.
