Giovanniland reacted to Candeluian Minister in I've got free time, so, here's an unofficial story about the foundation of Candelù.
Shortly after the unexpected fall of the Italian Republic, the peninsula got divided, like it had in the past. It turned into a shattered land, made up by small states led by families that were part of the city's bourgeoisie.

The various wars about these states aren't what I'm going to focus on, so let's talk about the main protagonist of the story, shall we?

At the time, Candelù wasn't more than a small fraction of the land owned by Venice. In fact, it remained under Venetian control until the fall of the Venetian Republic itself.

After this event, one of the villages tried to take over; its name was Breda.

Breda was a heavily weaponized city in the Venetian era; its people were experts when it came to weapons: guns, bows, crossbows, even melee weapons—they had it all. It was a threat to everyone in the region.

One of the cities most at risk was Candelù itself. At the time, Candelù was just a small village, specialized in everything related to art. Painting, music, architecture—Candelù was simply full of works of art; it focused so much on culture that it didn't even have an army.

In this time, where war was almost certain, art wouldn't be what could save them. That's why they reached out to another city close by for help; that city was Maserada.

Maserada was the opposite of Candelù, having almost no history as it was one of the newest Venetian cities, made shortly before the fall of the Republic, though it was almost as weaponized as Breda. People from maserada were expert blacksmiths; they created the best weapons present on the Peninsula.

At first, both the leader and the people of Maserada weren't positive about supporting Candelù, fearing that, after the inevitable fall of the city, they'd become the main objective of Breda.

Eventually, the alliance was signed. Breda saw this as a threat to its power, so the leader moved the army closer to the border with Candelù. War was about to begin, and Candelù formed its first ever army, made up of a very small number of volunteers.

Breda eventually launched a massive attack, but the united forces of Candelù and Maserada proved to be too strong. With their combined strength and skills, they were able to defeat the enemy and protect their Cities.

Breda was then defeated and annexed to Candelù.

After years of collaboration, the government of Maserada organized a referendum, supported by Candelù, proposing to join the city to receive economic aid in exchange for their fighting and smithing skills.

The final vote resulted in a "yes," and, to date, the autonomous region of Maserada is still part of Candelù's Empire, being the second most populated region.

Hello, I'm Joãozinho (for those closest to you, Vinícius). I started playing Nationstates on January 19, 2022 through a youtuber known as Flannel who promoted the game in one of his videos and I have been a longtime member of the Flannelistan region. After meeting former delegate Giovanniland, I decided to join TWP to venture into the Pacific seas that were unknown to me until then, and also have a lot of fun, of course. A good morning, good afternoon, good night or good morning to anyone who took the time to read this :) Signed: Me.

Hello everyone, i'm the owner and player behind the nation of Candelù (Candelu in NationStates).
Even though i joined the forum just recently (yesterday, lol.) I've been in NationStates for arround 3-4 months, destroying my count- i mean, making Candelù the country we know today.
My country was born already years before joining NS, in fact, it was a project me and 4 other friends had, and who knows, maybe we'll eventually create a real micro nation called Candelù. 🤔
I hope that i might bring something interesting here, in the discord servers and in NationState's site itself too, and, with this, i'll be going, bye everyone.

    New Revelations

May 4th, 1423 - 7:20 AM - The office of Partalí News, Ryxenia.
It had been about a month and a half since the Farryvas-Pincalo Debacle had started, and with silence from the federal goverment and independent investigations having grinded to a halt after all evidence dried up, it seemed for the people involved in the situation, the mess was finally over, as the people had mostly calmed down, at least on the streets, Ryxtylopian social media was still a mess, opposition parties to the current goverment still moaning at the fact the case hadn't been resolved, especially when it could involve figures as high in rank as state governors and even the president.
This "peace" would abruptly end when the left-wing Partalí News, never wanting to miss an opportunity to criticize the goverment's desicions opened their morning broadcast with new information regarding the scandle, the figure of the ammount stolen was still pretty vague. But during the morning broadcast Partalí openly accused the Pestalpan governor: Farryvás Vizchaca of embezzlement, presenting that over the past years one of his companies had seen "increased activity".
This single broadcast made Farryvás the centre of attention, and he was also accused of potentially interviening in DII operations in Pestalpa, as people had started to notice inconsistencies in the way documents were stored, with many having gone missing in the last two months.
So as eyes turned to the Pestalpan goverment and demonstrations rekindled the goverment figures who had thought they had escaped intact from a huge fiasco were back in the spotlight, especially Farryvás who now had to be accompanied by a police escort considering the danger to him was at an all time high.
This trapped Pincalo in a difficult spot since he had a close relation with Farryvás but now he had to either ditch him or risk the public's anger, if he ditched him and opened an investigation, he could risk Farryvás leaking everything to save himself and draw attention elsewhere, but if he didn't do anything the public would inmediatley draw a connection. The third option was telling Farryvás that they would open "investigaiton" but that would only delay the inevitable as eventually without any results from the investigation, the public would either get very angry or figure out the relation between Farryvás and Pincalo.

May 5th, 1423 - 9:00 PM - The DII office in Pinilaca, Pestalpa.
    Pincalo had once again returned to the DII office in Pinilaca, walked through part of the archive phone firmly next to his ear as he was in a call with Farryvás deciding what to do, while Farryvás still thought the situation could be salvaged Pincalo thought otherwise;
"No Farryvás! If we take no action it will be blatantly obvious what's going on and both you and me will find ourselves linched, behind bars or worse!" Says Pincalo.
"Ugh okay, then what do you propose? Do i have to leave the country?!" Responds Farryvás.
"In total honesty probably, a lot of us could end up somewhere else, but for that we must delay, ill select some DII staff who are in on this to open an investigation into you, you get what i mean right?"
    "I do."
"That will give us more time to come with another potential solution, or drop out if the worst comes to be."
"Ive already packed up, im ready to go if its necessary."
"Good to see you're planning ahead, whatever you do, don't do anything to arouse the public's anger, if any further leaks come out, it will be time to get out of this mess."
"Understood, unforunatley i have to conviene with the pestalpan state assembly tomorrow, remember?"
"Oh crap, right... in that case avoid touching the topic for as long as possible and if you get to it try to de-rail the conversation to something else."
"Alright, well ill hope for the best, we should start informing the rest soon."
"Ill take care of it don't worry, hope you have a nice evening."
Pincalo hung up, he knew all of that would just buy time and he was divided on if he should drop out and flee somewhere else or trying to save his allies and fortune in Ryxtylopia, something to him was clear tho, he was thinking on borrowed time.

Giovanniland reacted to Aftokratoria in Political Dilemma between Aftokratoria and Fauthur
May 2nd, 1423 - Aftokratorian Federal Election Results Report

Nea Dimosiografos: “Good evening Aftokratoria, I’m Nea Dimosiografos, and this is Aftokratorian News at 6:00 - 1423 election edition. Today is Tuesday, May 2nd, and the temperature is currently 12 degrees above 0. Today we will be reviewing the federal election results. So for that report, let’s go to Kalpi Eklogi”
Kalpi Eklogi: “Thanks Nea. Well, unsurprisingly Otto Kracy, leader of the Aftokratorian Party, won with 75.9% of the votes, over Igetis Foveros, the former Prime Minister, who ended up with 16.4%. The minute midnight struck, and enough votes had been counted that it was impossible for Otto to lose, he began his celebration speech in front of a huge crowd of supporters in Omoskratia. The first thing he addressed was that since he would now be head of government, his response to Kerglom Hafth, an anti-Aftokratorian politician from Fauthur, would be the official one. Mr. Kracy then yelled “F*ck Kerglom Hafth! Let Aftokratoria rule supreme!”, which was met with an uproar of support.”
Nea Dimosiografos: “Interesting. Have either Mr. Kracy or Mr. Foveros made any responses this morning?”
Kalpi Eklogi: “While on one hand, Otto Kracy has made many Twittur posts, calling out his foes such as Igetis Foveros and Kerglom Hafth as well as post simply celebrating, but Igetis has not said anything since his short farewell speech last night. This would break his streak of posting every day since the beginning of his campaign in 1418. Our associates here at ANBC did reach out to both of those main candidates, but Otto understandably had many other press conferences taking up his time, and Igetis simply did not respond. In fact, Mr. Kracy went as far as to call his supporters “enlightened voters”, in his first celebratory post this morning. In the same tweet, he took a little snap at the Fauthurians, who have been one of his main enemies in his campaign since February 16th when Kerglom Hafth first displayed his hate for Aftokratoria.”
Nea Dimosiografos: “Well that certainly is a bold statement Kalpi. So when can we expect to see the official transition into office?”
Kalpi Eklogi: “That date has not been announced yet, but most likely before May 20th. Though, considering the personality and past actions of Otto, he will probably try his best to make it as soon as possible, maybe even by May 10th. The leader of the Aftokratorian Party has even implied in another Twittur post that he has already begun pre-packing to move into the official Prime Minister’s housing office."
Nea Dimosiografos: “Thanks Kalpi. You can see Mr. Kracy’s tweets on our website, where was have uploaded this report as an article, with images. Thank you for listening, and we will be back with more political reports at 6:30”

How one app has changed language learning
    Published May 2, 1423
    Written by Kain Jokinen

Almost everyone who has been on the internet has heard of the app DualDialect. It was originally intended to be used solely for language learning but has also had its mascot, a Czuleck Arctic Bear named Dual, coopted in various online memes, depicting them attacking users for not completing lessons. However, the history of DualDialect hasn't been discussed much, and thus begs the question, where did things begin?

DualDialect was first designed in 1417 as an easy and mobile way for Czulian diplomats to learn Common, the international language used in numerous global organizations. The founder of the website was Linnéa Hedlund, who previously worked as a web developer in the Foreign Affairs Office. Around her workplace, they heard many accounts from colleagues about the difficulty of learning Common.

"Learning a language can be tough, even with those who are the most dedicated to studying it," they said. "I wanted to help as much as I can, so I tried this. It [DualDialect] was something I thought only would be marginally used." However, after the website was released, it was an instant hit. Even those who weren't in diplomatic roles took time to use the program and learn Common for themselves.

DualDialect kept much of its format as it did on day one. It uses various characters and animals to help teach users the language they desire. Along with this, language learning is made in a level system, where words and phrases taught become more complex as you progress. Finally, it brought leaderboards into the mix, where you would compete to complete the most levels at once with other users, both local and global.

This explosion in popularity sparked an idea in Hedlund. Why stop at Common when the world has so many languages to explore? Hedlund immediately started working on including other languages through contacts they met while working at the Foreign Affairs Office. Although limited in who she could contact, they were able to expand the website over the years.

In 1419, Aftokratorian was added, along with the development of a mobile app to reach a larger audience. Both additions were well received by audiences, especially by those traveling or immigrating to Czuleck. At this time too, the team running DualDialect had expanded from just Hedlund and a few of her friends to hundreds of people, all with the same goal of expanding language learning.

Over the following years, numerous updates were released that modernized how the app looked, brought in brand-new languages, and introduced new features. Giovannese and podcasts were added in 1420, programs to connect with Czuleckian universities and schools were introduced in 1421, and a community-based tutoring program was just released last year in 1422. As of this year, Fluvian, Cyrylican, and Apexilian were announced to be in development, and all three will release together sometime either this or next year.

DualDialect has received critical acclaim for both its ease of use and no-cost learning. Millions globally have made accounts, with interest appearing to rise year by year. Studies have shown that users who put forty hours into one of the language programs can receive the same level of knowledge as taking a semester of a college-level language class. In a recent press release, Hedlund expressed her excitement for the road ahead.

"With an app like this, the limits are almost endless," Hedlund said. "I am hopeful that the nations of the world can come together for such a project, as this benefits everyone. Being able to communicate with someone across the globe shows how we all are people, no matter where we were born, and how working together could lead to great things."
