Iconic Rugby Stadiums of Giovanniland: Part Two
    Posted 30/03/1423

SporTravel is at full steam! We're posting once more another part of our series of showcasing interesting rugby stadiums within Giovanniland. Our national rugby team has had its first match in Dalimbar resulting in a scoreless draw against Saranzio, so perhaps we could all give them some well wishes and good luck. (Feel free to post a comment!)

Meanwhile, Giovannilandians and sport-loving tourists might want to visit some of the best rugby pitches and stadiums here, even when they're not actively having games, to appreciate these beautiful buildings and the rugby sport itself. Without further ado, let's take a look at the two stadiums we've featured today:

    N1piCKp.jpeg

Stadio Abreo-Florino, Porto Violeto, Prinvalli - Capacity: 68,042

The Stadio Abreo-Florino is the main stadium of the second largest city in Giovanniland, also known as the busiest seaport with which the nation trades with Esferos. The home team is called the Vipere Violete, the violet snakes. As for the namesake of the stadium, it is the famous Abreo-Florino family that includes the Vittore and Tommaso brothers that led the country to become an industrial nation while being Prime Ministers. The reason for that is because Aurelio de Abreo-Florino funded the construction of the stadium during the mid-14th century, since rugby was his favorite sport.

Kampo Montano, Montesilvano, Giovannia Magna - Capacity: 5,260

While there are certainly many other big rugby stadiums in Giovanniland's most populous cities, we have decided to go with something different for the last featured one of the first part of this series. Off the beaten track in the western corner of the Giovannia Magna region, this pitch has the distinction of being the highest rugby pitch of Giovaura, with an altitude of 1875 meters. Its capacity is very small, but a fair number considering Montesilvano's population of around ten thousand people. Nevertheless, it often gets many visitors due to the iconic nature and mountains around it, besides the rugby matches themselves.

And after these stadiums' showcase, we finish another part of our series! Thank you for reading, good and safe travels if you are looking to visit rugby stadiums in Giovanniland, and good luck to our national team! If you've got suggestions of new stadiums to talk about for the next parts, email us at sportravelgiovanniland@giovamail.com.

Iconic Rugby Stadiums of Giovanniland: Part One
    Posted 25/03/1423

Rugby is a sport with a recent but respected Giovannilandian presence on the world stage. The sport was first introduced in Giovanniland in the early 14th ceuntry, and in 1325 the National Rugby League of Giovanniland was founded by various teams across the nation. Four years later, the first national team was formed in 1329 at the Stadio Purpuro in Giovannia, with some of the best players from the leading national teams. The Giovanniland Rugby Confederation has since then earned various notable international results, such as 3rd place in the 1st Rugby World Cup (Rugby Union), and also 3rd place in the 1420 and 1421 editions of the Esferiad (Rugby Sevens).

Therefore, Giovannilandians and sport-loving tourists might want to visit some of the best rugby pitches and stadiums in Giovanniland, even when they're not actively having games, to appreciate these beautiful buildings and the rugby sport itself. This list will hopefully be a several-part series over the next few weeks, but for Part One, we have chosen to list two.

Arena Kezeno I, Urido, Lavandula - Capacity: 44,204

Just like the famous Stadio Giordano, the Arena Kezeno I is another stadium in the northern part of Lavender Island, although smaller and less known than its western neighbor in Quorivo. Nevertheless, it hosts the notable Ursi Uridesi team, which means Bears of Urido in Giovannese! The stadium is located on the outskirts of the city, not far from the old city center, a place full of wonders for tourists interested in Giovannilandian history. This is also the source for the stadium name, which honors the erstwhile ruler of the city-state back in ancient times that then went on to conquer neighboring city-states and founded the Lavandulan Empire, which lasted for more than a millennium.

Arena dei Marinari, Annavilla, Verdiante - Capacity: 33,510

The eponymous rugby team, Li Marinari, has played at this stadium for a long time, a coastal stadium in the regional capital Annavilla. Its name honors the seafaring Abrentan people that came from Saint Mark and then set foot in southwestern Lavender Island, founding the Republic of Abrento. Their arrival into the island contributed a lot to what would in the future become Giovannilandian culture, mixed with indigenous traits such as the Lavandulan culture in the north.

That's all for the second part of this series! Thank you for reading, and we wish you good and safe travels if you are looking to visit these and other rugby places in Giovanniland. If you've got suggestions for the next parts, email us at sportravelgiovanniland@giovamail.com!

  5. Giovannilandian 1423 Election Results!

Porto Violeto, Giovanniland — In a surprising turn of events, the Partito Verde (Green Party) no longer has the most seats in the left-wing coalition it forms with the Partito Labrista (Labour Party) and Partito Demokrata (Democratic Party). The Labour Party led by Elisa Anario-Silva attained 84 seats in the Senato, surpassing the 78 seats won by current Prime Minister Amore Gile Abrenti's party, the Greens.

A total of 18,230,986 voters came to the elections, which is a turnout of 78.25% from the total of 23,299,029 citizens with at least 18 years of age. Giovannilandians cast their votes for the general election according to their region, where each party fields an open list of candidates, and the number of senators elected depends on the region's population. Regions and municipalities also elected members to their local legislatures, which in turn choose the leader for the given administrative division.

The parties in the Senato are the left-wing Labour Party and Green Party, the center-left Democratic Party, the centrist Partito Kentri (Center Party), the center-right Partito Librale (Liberal Party), and the right-wing Partito Konservatore (Conservative Party) and Partito Patriota (Patriot Party). The final results were 85 (21.25%) seats for the Liberals, 84 (21%) for Labour, 78 (19.5%) for the Greens, 58 (14.5%) for the Conservatives, 53 (13.25%) for the Democrats, 29 (7.25%) for Center, and 13 (3.25%) for the Patriots. Although the Liberals are the largest party, they don't have the numbers to form either of their usual coalitions, a center coalition with the Democrats and Centrists or a right-wing one with the Conservatives and Patriots.

    Ueu3ZVJ.png

In comparison to the 1419 Senato, the Labour and Democratic parties each gained 6 seats, followed by a three-seat increase for the Liberals and an one-seat increase for the Patriots. Meanwhile, the Centrists held the same number of seats whereas the Greens lost 7 seats and the Conservatives lost 9. These shifts mean that King Giovanni VI will most likely appoint a Labour senator for the premiership, besides also leaving the Liberal leader Vinikio Lamponi in a stronger position to challenge the left-wing coalition in the next elections. On the other hand, the Conservative leader and former Prime Minister Petro Dolabella resigned from party leadership, citing this election as the final nail in the coffin after other recent bad performances.

Now that elections have concluded, we look forward to what the future holds for the country. Although the party in the premiership is slated to change, most stances on key national issues and political ideologies are fairly similar between the two left-wing parties. Regardless of which senator is chosen, the new Prime Minister will be able to rely on Amore Gile Abrenti's successes, including but not limited to the Quorivo & Kharventhin Esferiad, the development of environmentally-friendly technology to maintain Giovanniland's position in the group of pioneer nations in this field, and continued improvement in social and economic standards across the nation.

Someone beat me to the punch on your grouping, but didn't do the others.  I've updated all the requests.  Sorry about the slow turn around, been a touch busy at work, plus sick at the moment, so yay for that!

Thank you! And I hope you get well soon.

  7. Missed the number 14 by one for the Valentine's Day themed question. But here it goes!

What would you choose and why? (Imagine it as an hypothetical scenario even if you already have a relationship or are past either/both ages.)

  8. Was informed of this problem when welcoming a new member to the region as they created an account.

Account was successfully verified after the email was found in the spam folder, but that Google is tagging it as spam and that it was apparently "reported as spam at least 20 times in the past" according to what the user saw, sounds fairly concerning given Gmail's prominence as an email provider.

Raising the issue here, not sure if there's any possible action on forum admins' part though or if it's solely Google's issue.

  9. 1423 Elections in Giovanniland: What to Expect?

Porto Violeto, Giovanniland — Elections for the Senato are slated to happen on 18 March 1423, as Prime Minister Amore Gile Abrenti's term in office comes to an end after coming to the position on 5 May 1419. Under the semi-constitutional monarchy of Giovanniland, the national legislative branch is the Senato and has 500 members elected by popular vote. Afterwards, the King selects one of these members to be the Prime Minister, usually from the largest party that can form a majority coalition, and then they jointly lead the nation. General elections happen when the Senato is dissolved, happening at most four years after the previous one, or earlier if the Prime Minister resigns, dies in office, or is subject to a successful vote of no confidence.

The nation has fared well during Mrs Abrenti's term, with the continuation of notable technological development coupled with respect for the environment, a core tenet of her Partito Verde (Green Party), and major events including the Quorivo & Kharventhin Esferiad, a flagship project of the term together with neighboring Blue Bubble. Mrs Abrenti is hoping to capitalize on these successes and remain in power, together with her allies in the Partito Labrista (Labour Party) and Partito Demokrata (Democratic Party).

The current prime minister has a fair chance of getting re-elected, though there are two possible outcomes in which that doesn't happen. One would be that Labour led by Elisa Anario-Silva surpass the Greens in legislative seats, so the King would be inclined to nominate a Labour senator as Prime Minister instead. The other is that the right-wing coalition returns to power, led by the Partito Librale (Liberal Party) and the Partito Konservatore (Conservative Party).

For those unfamiliar with Giovannilandian elections, each of the eleven regions gets to elect a number of senators according to its population: the most populous region, Giovannia Magna, gets 66 seats while the least populous, Kordelleria, gets only eight. In addition to the national Senato elections, each region and municipality will elect members to its Kuria, a local assembly that chooses the leader for the respective administrative division and develops local legislation. In the live coverage of the election day, we hope to bring you a lot of updates about how the outlook of the 1423 Senato goes as votes come in. Stay tuned!
