Elaine Qu, 56, Fort Ingor
QuoteYou know, seeing the Prince and the Royal Family always takes me back to that summer day in Fort Ingor. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of jacaranda blossoms, and the vibrant colors of the sunset painted the sky in hues of orange and pink. There was an excitement in the air as the whole town gathered for the annual summer festival.
I remember it like it was yesterday. The Prince and his family arrived in a grand procession, adorned in regal attire that shimmered in the twilight. The crowd buzzed with anticipation, children waving tiny flags, their faces painted with joy. The energy was infectious; you could feel it in the laughter that echoed through the cobblestone streets.
The Prince, tall and dignified, moved graciously through the crowd, exchanging warm greetings with the townspeople. I was just a teenager then, standing on tiptoes, trying to catch a glimpse. And there he was, his eyes met mine, and for a moment, it felt like time stood still. In that instant, I saw someone genuinely connected to the people with a warmth that reached every corner of the square.
It was just one of the three big local festivals in Fort Ingor, but the Royal Family's presence added a special touch to the festivities. The Prince's children, dressed in the most adorable little outfits, were running around, joining in the games with the local kids. There was a sense of unity and shared joy that transcended any titles or status.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the entire town gathered for a magnificent display of fireworks. The Prince and his family stood on the balcony of the town hall, and as the first firework lit up the sky, you could tell the organizers were trying to put on a good show. It was a moment of pure magic - it is in my heart forever.
Whenever I see the Prince and the Royal Family now, it's a lovely reminder of the memories from that enchanting summer night. It's incredible how a single moment can get deeply etched into one's memory...

The morning after Judge Gedridh's decision, Jacen scans through his usually meticulous calendar and notices an influx of "Red" tagged events that he usually jokingly calls "House Calls". They are one-on-one only meetings, usually reserved for his most prestigious clients. He recalls an interaction last night client's in-house counsel that already hinted at disapproval, subtly questioning how the Woolrey-Arnold Pharmaceutical case aligns with Jacen's established portfolio. The tone suggested more than a mere lack of comprehension; it signaled an unspoken disapproval. Now, with the surge in requests for personal meetings, Jacen senses that these encounters will not be the routine discussions of legal matters or happenings for him to help 'figure out'. Instead, they are likely to be covert interrogations and pressure sessions, as his elite clientele seeks to understand and influence his stance on the controversial case.
Contemplating the schedule before him, he starts to mull over how he will strategically defend his decision to take on the Woolrey-Arnold Pharmaceutical case. Subtly hinting at the broader implications of the espionage issue and emphasizing the importance of protecting his clients' interests in this burgeoning cyber world is possible his only change at crafting a delicate narrative that justifies his involvement in this suit. He cannot plainly state the possibility that the same espionage tactics resulting in the drug formulation leak may have touched upon the confidential matters of his high-profile clients without causing undue alarm.
"****", Jacen mutters into his mug.

Her gaze fixed on the screen, her ears reactively pulling her face tight. The message's sender remained anonymous, yet the implication cut through the hurry of her office. Someone, somehow, had learned of her impending decision regarding the Woolrey-Arnold Pharmaceutical case—a decision not yet publicized, known only to those within her office and the main clerk of the Hiercourt.
Rather than instilling fear, the mysterious message fueled an unexpected resolve within Tamar. The intrusion into her decision-making process hardened her determination to uphold the law without succumbing to veiled threats.
With a measured breath, Tamar set her phone aside and turned her attention back to the documents sprawled across her desk. The weight of her responsibility as a judge in the Practice of the Prince's Laws pressed upon her, and the oath she had taken resonated in her thoughts as she sealed the document in the traditional purple ink.

In the post-toddler bedtime calm of her home, Judge Esq. Tamar Gedridh reclined in her living room, ensconced in pillows and the glow of a television playing the latest episode of the docuseries Covington. The credits roll and the quietly intense credit music was joined by the shrill ring of her business phone. She hesitated, as she would not commonly get phone calls at this hour. She then reached for the device, glancing at the display to find an unknown number glaring back at her.
With a wary squint, she allowed the voicemail to answer. As he unknown caller spoke, a text readout simultaneously unfolded on the screen, each word tightening the already wary squint.
"Judge Esquire Gedridh, we are happy you have been assigned to the CTGM case. Dismiss it. The reasons will reveal themselves, and you will find yourself on the short list of recommendations to the Prince for the Standing Quorum on Judicial Commissions and Tenure. Choose wisely, Judge."
Tamar held her glass of wine tight to her chest, she thought this case may be fraught with its connections to government but was not expecting this...

In the secluded recesses of Officer's Yard Tavern, Jacen Goode sought solace from the tempest of uncertainty that had engulfed him. A haven for discreet legal discussions, the Tavern provided a backdrop of muted conversations and the soft clinking of glasses as Jacen approached Silas Merrow's corner booth, bathed in the warm glow of amber light. Silas was a mentor of Jacen's dating back nearly ten years, helping to shape his career at the top firms in his 'orbit'.
Silas acknowledged Jacen with a nod, and as Jacen took a seat, the gravity of his predicament was evident in his expression. "Silas," Jacen began, urgency tinged with apprehension in his voice, "I'm in a situation that is tricker than the usual legal intricacies. I need your counsel, my friend."
Silas regarded Jacen with a discerning gaze, recognizing the weight on his shoulders. "Speak freely, Jacen. You've always been a bastion of reason in this chaotic world of ours." Silas slipped his phone into his briefcase and Jacen followed out of habit, as a newly common act by professionals in his line of work.
Leaning in to ensure their conversation remained shielded, Jacen delved into the email from SilverShadow, detailing the subtle threats and the looming legal battle involving Woolrey-Arnold Pharmaceutical. Silas listened, his expression shifting from curiosity to a deepening concern.
"So, I'm being dragged into a conflict that extends far beyond the courtroom, Silas," Jacen confessed, frustration evident in his voice. "I'm being played, but the stakes are too high to ignore. If there's even a chance that our clients are implicated, I have to consider it."
Silas nodded thoughtfully, his fingers tracing the rim of his glass in contemplation. "You're navigating treacherous waters, Jacen. This is more than a legal dispute; it's a clash of powers."
"I'm reluctant about the implications of this, Silas, but the result for me may be the same either way," Jacen admitted, a hint of conflict and resignation in his eyes.
Silas leaned back, his gaze fixed on Jacen. "Your reservations are justified. Now, consider this," Silas began, choosing his words carefully. "The government's reach extends further than we often realize. This... hacker, cyberterrorist, or whatever they are, suggest that the Innovation Basria projects, those initiatives you've aligned yourself with through your clients are intricately connected to Lovranvirus emergency legislation. It goes beyond the surface, Jacen."
Jacen's eyes narrowed, his calculating mind processing the implications. "Are you suggesting this might be more than just protecting a drug patent?"
Silas nodded knowingly. "Precisely, Jacen. The drug patent may just be the sharpest spear this Silver could find. Any lawyer with half your skill can make this case on intellectual property, so the question is why you? It's a precarious position, my friend, one that demands careful consideration."
As the two lawyers delved into the intricacies of the situation, Jacen grappled with the clash between self-interest and the broader implications unfolding before him. The dimly lit corner of the Tavern became a crucible for strategic deliberation, setting the stage for Jacen's internal struggle as he weighed his potential failure against the shadows of a deeper, more complex reality.

In the dim glow of his private office, Jacen Goode, a young and astute lawyer at the high-powered firm Goode-Ehfrau-Anwalt (GEA), leaned back in his leather chair, contemplating the potential outcomes of his client's pending divorce.A ping from his laptop brought his eyes from the ceiling to the pop-up window. The subject line, stark and intrusive, cut through the usual casual treatment of emails: "A Proposition You Can't Ignore."
Opening the email, the message was succinct yet laced with a threat that struck at the core of Jacen's meticulously constructed web of relationships - professional and private. In his time at GEA he was courting some of the wealthiest businesspeople and highest class of nobility in Basria and the Astorian Realms. He is now renown for his discretion and penchant for keeping his client's name out of the papers. The email begins,
Mr. Goode,
In the realm of privilege you navigate, there exist shadows. Secrets, Mr. Goode, that could tarnish the pristine reputation you've so carefully built for your Lords and Ladies.
Consider this a proposition—one you can't afford to ignore.
The email continued with a narrative that raised Jacen's hackles - a hint at evidence, subtle yet foreboding, regarding some of his clients. The veiled threat left Jacen uneasy, a sensation he rarely entertained in his world.
As he absorbed the implications, the message transitioned from the hints to a more tangible demand. The proposition pivoted around a legal challenge, a battle that would thrust Jacen into the heart of a conflict between the state and the very importance of privacy - an assertion of freedom against the prying eyes of the government.
The writer claimed Jacen's assistance in a case involving a prominent biotech company. The allegation was startling - government interference in encrypted communications, industrial espionage, and the alleged theft of trade secrets pertaining to a revolutionary diabetes medication. The twist lay in the revelation that the government entity responsible for acquiring the decrypted information was none other than CTGM. A government corporation that Jacen knew was well connected to Basric business and politics, but was part of a subtly separate private alignment of nobles and their own lawyers like himself. Not an easy target.
The room now echoed with the weight of a choice that transcended the boundaries of legality. Jacen found himself standing at a crossroads—a choice between loyalty to his clientele, whose deeds would cause greater scandal and damage than this case, and the inevitable damage caused by pitting the elite echelons against each other.
The email, now a specter haunting his conscience, left him wrestling. It was signed: "I'll make sure the firm reaches out to you soon. Be ready with your answer, SilverShadow"

Building on the success of the initial phase, this challenge is a collaborative initiative led by Innovative Solutions Basria in partnership with the Prince's Special Police (PSP).
Background:
Two years ago (see here), the government extended an invitation to small businesses to contribute to the development of an AI decryption service to aid law enforcement agencies, specifically the PSP, in overcoming encryption barriers in criminal investigations. Today, we are excited to share progress and extend this groundbreaking initiative. The AI Decryption Challenge: Phase Two:
As criminal tactics evolve, so must our technological capabilities. The PSP, in collaboration with Innovative Solutions Basria, seeks the expertise of small businesses to enhance the AI decryption system. This phase aims to refine and elevate the existing technology to stay one step ahead of criminal activities involving advanced encryption techniques.Elevating Law Enforcement: Successes from Phase One
The government commends the ingenuity displayed during the inaugural stage of the AI Decryption Challenge. Small businesses, driven by a commitment to innovation, delivered solutions that surpassed expectations. Collaborating with Innovative Solutions Basria, these businesses have already made significant contributions to advancing the capabilities of law enforcement.
In a recent application of one of the AI decryption systems developed in phase one, law enforcement successfully decrypted a series of encrypted communications used by an organized crime syndicate. This breakthrough led to the identification of some key players within the criminal network, demonstrating the value of fledgling decryption tools in the realm of public safety and strengthening the government's resolve to realize these projects.
Another notable triumph from a second tool involves the decryption of an encrypted communication made by a notorious cybercriminal, known by the alias "Silvershadow." The AI decryption system enabled authorities to uncover Silvershadow's plan for a large-scale data breach, leading to a swift mitigation and the prevention of a potential cybersecurity crisis.

The Common Trust for Generic Medicines (CTGM) was established by the Hier in 1372. At the time, there was a growing concern among the public about the high cost of prescription drugs and the lack of access to essential medicines for many people. The trade associations and non-juridical trade unions seized this as a critical issue affecting the health and well-being of their members and the wider population.
CTGM was created as a public corporation with the mandate to manufacture, distribute, and export affordable generic pharmaceuticals. The trust's founding principles were to ensure that essential medicines are accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial status, and to use its profits to fund research and development of new drugs that were not profitable for private companies.
CTGM's founding was not without controversy, as it faced fierce opposition from private pharmaceutical companies and their lobbyists, who argued that the trust would harm innovation and free-market competition. However, CTGM persevered and quickly gained support from the public, health professionals, and policymakers who recognized the urgent need for affordable medications.
Over the years, CTGM has grown and diversified its product line, including the development of generic versions of drugs used to treat common chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma. CTGM has also invested in research and development of new drugs that target neglected diseases, such as tuberculosis and malaria, that disproportionately affect developing countries.
Since its founding, the CTGM has become a major player in the pharmaceutical industry in Nieubasria. It has established partnerships with healthcare providers, pharmacies, and distributors across the country to ensure that its products are widely available. The CTGM has also begun exporting its products to other countries, helping to make affordable medication more widely available throughout the world. Today, CTGM is a leading producer of affordable generic drugs in Nieubasria and a respected member of the international pharmaceutical industry. Its mission remains steadfast in ensuring that essential medicines are accessible to everyone and to use its profits to advance medical research and development.
The CTGM is governed by a board of directors appointed by the related trade associations that founded the corporation. The board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the CTGM, ensuring that the corporation is financially sustainable, and overseeing its operations.
CTGM leads the Astorian Strategy on Generic Medicines and Biosimilars. This strategy coordinates the development of product lines to prevent duplication of efforts, advises on tariffs for the import and export of medicines from the Astorian Union, and promotes international cooperation on medicine manufacture.
Alcheran Parliament Proceedings
April 15, 1423Current Business - 11:00 Member Statements
Speaker: "Member Silvestre is recognized for statement."
Islom Silvestre: "Not only as a representative of the Social Growth Compact, but as an Alcheran citizen, I am appalled by the President's extension of the license of the Basric Common Trust for Generic Medicines. It is utterly unacceptable for this corporation, set up by the legislature of another country, to be allowed to come in and undercut our local pharmaceutical companies. This move not only hurts our economy, but it puts the livelihoods of many Alcherans at risk.
"The CTGM claims to be providing affordable generic medicines to those who need it, but at what cost? There are several pharmaceutical companies that have been providing essential medicines domestically for many years. These companies have invested heavily in research and development, however, since the CTGM entered the market, they have been undercutting these companies by selling generic versions of the same drugs at a fraction of the price.
"By driving local companies out of business, they are essentially monopolizing the market and have the potential to drive up prices in the future. This move not only harms our economy, but it undermines the principles of fair competition and equitable trade.
"It is understandable that the CTGM wants to provide affordable medication to those who need it, but it is important to do so in a way that does not harm local industries. Instead of simply undercutting their competitors, the CTGM should be working with local companies to find ways to reduce the cost of medication without putting them out of business. By doing so, they can help to build sustainable healthcare systems that benefit everyone.
"Furthermore, it is insulting for our President's staff to suggest that our local pharmaceuticals are not of the same quality as those produced by CTGM. Our companies follow the same safety and quality standards as any other reputable pharmaceutical company, and we have a long history of producing effective medicines for our people.
"I call on the President to rethink his approach and to work with our local companies rather than against them. It is time for us to prioritize the well-being of our own people and our own economy, rather than simply prioritizing profits for a foreign corporation."

Statement by the Estates-Ministry for the Overthere regarding Zoranian Arms Deal with Kalmach
The April 11, 1423 statement by Queen Atsil of Zoran regarding the arms deal with Kalmach is disappointing and deeply concerning to the Sovereign Estates. Nieubasria denounces the decision of Zoran to pursue economic recovery through arms sales, especially when it contributes to fueling ethnic tensions and conflicts in Nur. It is not our wish to see any country, let alone a former ally, engage in such destabilizing actions.
We stand by our decision to prepare sanctions on Zoran and call for other nations to do the same. We also call on the Astorian Union to reconsider their support of Zoran's arms industry and urge them to take action to prevent further destabilization of the situation.
It is not a matter of friend or foe, but a matter of principle. The Sovereign Estates cannot condone actions that undermine peace and stability to incite a global race to the bottom for weapons of war and terror. The Estates-Ministry for the Overthere hopes that Zoran will reconsider this tact and rather work towards peaceful and constructive solutions for the benefit of all.
AADLIVALVE - - NOBILITYWATCH
OPINION - APRIL 11, 1423
As a proud and dedicated monarchist, I am appalled by the behavior of the Queen of Zoran. Her recent statements in a press conference demonstrate a complete lack of decorum and class, something that is expected of someone who holds such a prestigious position. It is truly disheartening to see someone who is meant to represent their country behave in such an unbecoming manner. The Queen of Zoran's statements show a clear disregard for diplomacy and a complete lack of respect for her fellow monarchs and leaders.
As someone who values tradition and the importance of maintaining a certain level of etiquette and protocol, it is deeply disappointing to witness the Queen of Zoran behave in such a manner. It is imperative that those who hold positions of power and influence set an example for the rest of us to follow, and the Queen of Zoran is clearly failing in that regard.
I urge all fellow monarchists to hold our leaders to a higher standard, and to demand that they behave with the respect and decorum that is expected of someone in their position. The Queen of Zoran's behavior is unacceptable, and it is up to us to ensure that such behavior does not become the norm.
Sincerely,
T.D

Vaadatablog - April 10, 1423 Dispatch
From the perspective of Nieubasria, the announcement of Zoran's entrance into the international military aviation market and the sale of fighter jets to Kalmach raises concerns about regional stability and the country's own strategic interests. The Kalmachian invasion of Garahun, cannot be ignored however and we will revisit this in our ongoing series Nurean "Cooperation".
Nieubasria may feel pressure to take a stance on the issue, whether it be in support of its allies or in opposition to their actions. However, it is also possible that Nieubasria will maintain its neutral stance and continue to prioritize its own economic and political interests above taking sides in conflicts that do not directly threaten its security.
Regardless, Nieubasria's leadership will need to carefully consider the implications of its allies' actions and balance the potential benefits of involvement with the potential risks of being drawn into a larger conflict. It may also need to reassess its relationships with Zoran and other nations entering the international military market to ensure that their actions do not compromise Nieubasria's strategic interests.
Statement by the Estates-Ministry of Nieubasria regarding Zoranian Arms Deal with Kalmach
Nieubasria strongly condemns Zoran's decision to sell arms to Kalmach in the midst of their conflict in Garahun as the foundation from which it will rebuild its war-torn economy. It is unacceptable that Zoran would choose to fuel ethnic tension and further conflicts in Nur in order to bolster its own economy.
Nieubasria stands firm in its belief that the unchecked proliferation of arms only leads to greater violence and instability, and we will not stand by while Zoran continues to profit from this cycle of destruction. Therefore, the Sovereign Estates stands ready to impose strict sanctions on Zoran, including an arms embargo and freezing of assets of Zoranian companies involved in the arms trade.
Nieubasria calls on Zoran to immediately suspend all arms sales and to work towards building a sustainable and peaceful economy through means such as those promoted within the Zoranian-Astorian Union Provisional Working Group. Nieubasria stands ready to support Zoran in its efforts to rebuild, but we will not tolerate the destabilizing effects of a nation surviving solely on the perpetuation of violence around the world. As a nation with Tamaric values, we cannot support actions that only lead to further escalation and metastasization of local conflicts.
If Zoran does not commit to pausing arms sales and re-engage with the Astorian Union on state-building aid, the Estates-Ministry of The Prince's Peace has prepared the following sanctions to take effect:
- Seizure and ban on Zoranian defence-related imports, including materiel and manufacturing components,
- Suspension of defence-related exports to Zoran, including material, precursor chemicals and compounds, and manufacturing components,
- Reinstating freeze on the assets of Zoranian arms manufacturers or related industries as designated by the Estates-Minister of the Overthere, and
- Freeze on any Basmarc- or Cambrian Crown-denominated transactions suspected to be related to the production, sale, or transportation of Zoranian arms or defence-related items processed by Basric financial institutions.
To support the case where sanctions must be employed, defence-related exports not approved as of April 10 will be held at ports of entry, Basmarc-denominated transactions of the DG Corporation (Dawisgali Gosdayi (Arrowhead) Corporation) and known affiliates in the production of ZF-2 Stormhawk platform will be temporarily frozen, and Basric nationals in Zoran are requested to report their presence in Zoran to their nearest Astorian Union embassy or consulate.
The Sovereign Estates is assured that other nations will join us in taking strong action against Zoran to demonstrate that such behavior will not be tolerated in the international community. The Estates-Minister of The Prince's Peace states that expanded sanctions may be put in place at a later date.
Furthermore, Nieubasria does not condone the actions of Kalmach in Garahun. We urge Kalmach to seek peaceful resolutions to their conflicts, and to refrain from using arms from fragile states to further their military objectives.
Nieubasria remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the world, and we will not hesitate to take strong action against those who threaten it.

Struck from the Record! Law school sends out mistaken admissions emails
Clarenton— law school says it’s guilty of accidentally sending acceptance emails to hundreds of former and current applicants.
The Tamaric University of Clarenton Veykeep College of Law in a statement Friday blamed a “technical error” for the glitch, saying the erroneous emails went to more than 200 people who applied for admission starting next fall, as well as to nearly 600 former applicants, some of whom are already enrolled.
“Veykeep College of Law quickly sent a clarifying email explaining the error. Individual outreach is also taking place to applicants with concerns,” the Clarenton school continues: “The College deeply regrets this unintended mistake and is taking steps to ensure that it will not happen in the future,”
Final admissions decisions will not be made until later in the academic year. Students at the Veykeep College begin in January as a matter of respecting traditional law articling practices in the itinerant courts.
Alisha Dien, a young woman from Fort Fagmere, who received the acceptance email, told NNN 2 Clarenton that she has dreamed of going to law school since she was a child. She shared the good news with her loved ones before noticing the follow-up email.
“I was like, ‘Oh my! this is so amazing,’ and then it was like, ‘Oh no, sorry, psyche!’” she said.
This year's law school class has 148 members out of 5,692 applicants, according to the College.

Function of Preifat
To compare the role Preifat performs to the governmental functions other nations, it can be likened to a Cabinet, Privy Council, and High Court. Where the Crown is said to be a corporation sole of the monarch, Preifat is said to be a corporation aggregate. Preifat is the body through which the Prince organizes the administration of the estates of Nieubasria, and is the confluence of executive, judicial, and legislative functions of the State.
The Preifat is the collection of personal consultants to the monarch on state and constitutional affairs and officers with various portfolios within the Estates - it is a large group of which usually only a small number are convened at a time. Meeting in the Preifat, a private drawing room in the Palace for which the governing body got its name, the Preifat requires a quorum of 3 at any sitting- one of which must be the Prince or his designee.
Preifat is best known for its function as a Cabinet, in which the Equerry-Personal to the Prince convenes meetings with the Estates-Ministers on a regular basis to organize and orient the administration of their respective estates. This body is sometimes referred to as the Quorum Immediate or the Counsellors Immediate - and has become increasingly collectivist in its general decision making as more appointments are made at the request of The Hierminister, despite each Estates-Minister having individual plenipotentiary power. The Counsellors Immediate consist usually exclusively of all Estates-Ministers, Equerries to the Prince, and other plenary officials.
Another major role of Preifat is as the final court of appeal in Nieubasria- holding universal jurisdiction over all areas of the State’s law, including martial law.
Lesser known functions and powers of the Preifat include:
- Administration of real property of the Crown
- Management of the Palace or Royal Household staff
- Ability to order exile or forfeiture of land
Those summoned to be Preifat Counsellors General are appointed at the pleasure of the Prince, though this is effectively a life appointment. The group is composed predominantly of former Estates-Ministers, Justices, and prominent Nobility, with some others having been inducted as an honorary gesture. Those in Preifat are accorded the use of an honorific style and post-nominal letters, as well as various signifiers of precedence.
Occasions of wider national importance such as the proclamation of a new monarch following the demise of a monarch or conferring on royal marriages are attended to by more senior officials, such as the Esquire-General, Estates-Minister of Hier, eminent Justices, and other senior statesmen. While all councillors are invited to such meetings in theory, in practice the composition of the gathering is determined by the Esquire-General of the day.
