  1. I think a convention would be nice. It's interesting to note that perhaps since Dark's first run as TWP delegate we have consistently switched up the forum government about once every 1.5 years or so, maybe even less. I've been out of commission the last few days (sick wife and kid) but I've got no problems with a reboot. It's typically the times where there is angst when, if harnessed properly, the best solution can be for lack of a better word, discovered. Let's do this! EDIT: Looks like I missed a funtastic day today. LOL. Come on peeps let's keep it civil and push forward. With respect to people in our assembly who have affiliations outside TWP, many of us do. I'm a member of TNP. In this sense I am different from Vlagh because the same punkdaddy there is the same here. There is no character difference. TSP taught me years ago that it's a nearly impossible game to play without hurting people's feelings. And so I chose not to do it. Vlagh doesn't care about people's feelings and i mean no disrespect in that, just stating that people's feelings don't dictate his game. I, fortunately or not, cannot play in such a way. Again, no judgment on what's better or worse, just saying people play this game differently and many people have other entanglements outside TWP. We can't go kicking people out of TWP because of that and we should really create a new government that's allows new people to join and has some sort of semblance to an active legislature.
  2. Yep, I can honestly say that the NPO has probably not had a screw of this magnitude in its history such as this one. Trying to think.....
  3. There's no need for this, imo. In fact we could take this opportunity to build better relations with TP. I am sure they are in want of friends at the moment and since we are allies, could be a golden opportunity. My trust level is still low, but I always look to see how we can use a situation to better TWP.
  4. It is curious that only since Lazarus has fallen this comes out about AMOM not being a Senator. If this had come out when AMOM made his announcement, there'd probably be a little more credibility to this.
  5. I really do miss the days when players like this actually played the game. ...Anyway, I thought AMOM was in the Pacific Senate at the time he made his statement. I'm old and don't pay as much attention as I used to, but wasn't he in the Senate at that time?
  6. Unless someone in the NPO of higher authority than AMOM posts a clarification of AMOM's retorts, we can only believe that AMOM's comments represent the will of the leadership of the NPO. I don't know what else we have to contradict that.
  7. ...and yet many try to do just that. My major problem is with the boards being shut down. That's not cool in my book from a "community" perspective. It is correct to say that even if the forum was shut down, if the actual community is strong enough they will build a new one. That the delegate has decided to go all NLO is also a matter for Lazarus. As I've stated, the danger isn't in what happened the danger is in the implications for other GCRs and our sovereignty. The rhetoric AMOM used can justify the NPO encroaching upon any GCR, at any time, and it would seem likely to happen if it's not already in progress today. Thinking differently is not thinking at all, not to be harsh.
  8. I just want to mention DYP, things would be so much different in Laz if Laz had joined the NSR. We would not have allowed this to happen. hahaha
  9. As blunt a person I am, I understand well the need for temperance and diplomacy. The question our leadership must answer is this - do we wish to still be allied with the NPO? If the answer is no, then everything else is very easy. If the answer is yes, then our leadership must then answer if we condone, decry, or simply want to ignore what is happening in Lazarus. Depending on that answer, that would help us navigate where we go next. I've never been a fan of the citizens dictating foreign policy and as a mere citizen now, I don't intent to change my normal inclination simply because I decry the current NPO tactics. Were I the head of FA, I'd want assurances from the NPO that they have not intended nor do they intend to undermine the workings of TWP. I'd want it in writing and publicly displayed. Less important would be them actually doing it then their response to the question. how they responded would tell us all we needed to know about our allies. For now, my opinion is that there's no justification for closing the embassy but I leave the diplomacy to the powers that be.
  10. According to the in-game treaty listing, we're allies with The Pacific. Wouldn't closing the embassy harm relations?
  11. I think this idea has a lot of merit. It's interesting and the Assembly idea is in keeping with the spirit of TWP recognizing the in-game as supreme to the off-site forum. A few months ago, I suggested that we should do away with the offsite forums altogether as an experiment. NS has made a number of enhancements to aide in intraregional communication. But I like this idea.
  12. I did read it. Depending on your definition of "new" Elegarth could meet said requirements.
  13. If the WA Minister of TWP (as his masking shows) is a meddler....well um....I don't know what to do with that. If his masking just hasn't been updated...well ok then. I think my overall point has been made. If Dark trusts Elegarth, so be it. I do not. I trust Dark, I trust the Guardians. It will be a fairly cold day in hell when I trust the NPO. The NPO serves itself, always has and always will. While I have often found myself on a similar ideological plane, I am not naive enough to believe that such similarities are anything more than incidental. Getting off my proverbial soapbox, I do hope that our delegate has no intentions of passing along the TWP mantle to Elegarth.
  14. haha Indeed. EDIT:100% imperialist. Sounds about right.
  15. Perhaps your lack of concern is precisely why Elegarth is here. Also - I am not suggesting members of the NPO need be rooted from the ranks of TWPers. I am simply stating that it would be foolhardy to not consider that the NPO is interested in gaining as large a foothold within TWP as is possible, up to and including the delegate chair. Towards this end, I'd like to ask you Dark if you've considered Elegarth as a successor. If you have, then I rest my case. If you haven't then I feel that much more secure.
  16. Time tells all. I've been at this nearly 11 years. I've been right more often than I've been wrong. In this instance I would love to be wrong. But common sense tells me I'm most likely right.
  17. Elegarth - I do know the NPO quite well. I know their tactics even better. What has occurred today is neither a surprise nor a shock. If you would like to be personally offended by my comments that's your prerogative. And I disagree, this is the place to hold such discussions. If not here, where? As for Lazarus, I'm little concerned that there is (yet) another regime change. In TWP we have always drawn a clear distinction between forum governments and the sitting delegate. Lazarus can sort out their own crap. What concerns me is the decision by the NPO to usurp - or annex - a GCR. That concerns me and if you think it's offensive that I'm concerned that we have prominent NPO members in our government, nothing I can do about it.
  18. Not sure who the "others" are you are referring to, but I think my point is that the NPO has been putting their fingers in a number of regions. Looking at AMOM's justification for why the NPO could usurp Lazarus tells the world that the NPO has an agenda to increase its reach as far as possible. I'm sure you guys are not blind. Come on now, that seemed to be an overreaction to what I said. What I am saying is that the NPO is looking to expand and what better place to expand than in TWP that has been led by the same team for years. As a former guardian (still I was presently), I know we are not blind to many things.
  19. This is a concerning turn of events. As a note, a number of months ago I made mention that TWP (I said TNP) was not TP. I stick to that. Dark, I have to say that I have never been as concerned with our own sovereignty than I am right now. What we're seeing from the NPO is that their stance that "everyone's the NPO" makes it dangerous for every GCR in which a member of TP is in a leadership role.
