  1. Let's see TSP Defense Minister Intelligence Minister TWP Delegate Mayor FA Minister TNP Chief Justice Attorney General that's a condensed version.
  2. Fish - yes one person per deputy position. Reçueçn I can't say what our differences are, per se, but what I am trying to do is focus on two items noted in my platform. I hope that will appeal to TWPers and we can discuss how we can make things happen. My hope is that our next "Advocate"/leader is a person who can bring us together and push an agenda forward. We really need to ignite something here in TWP and now's the time to do it. I think I can and I hope I get the chance. But if I do not win, I'm not going anywhere and will continue to help the region as best I can. Vlagh - I made a correction. I also have 3 kids, I sometimes will call one 2 names before I get to the right name. Sadly, this will not be the last time this happens to me.
  3. Abstain* Note: In a two horse race I always vote for my opponent but b/c there are 3, I shall abstain.
  4. Sorry for the title screw up all, it's been a while since I've run for anything in TWP, I’m going to keep this as simple as possible. There are two themes that will run through my platform – increasing the esteem of TWP throughout the world and making it easy for new members to get involved. Those will be the themes of a Punk Daddy administration. Let’s start with the overall government structure I will implement and then get into the details. Deputy Advocate – Foreign Affair - This role probably needs no explanation. Deputy Advocate – Voice Administration - This will be a Speaker-like role. Deputy Advocate – Assimilation - This person will be responsible for the welcoming program Deputy Advocate – Aide de camp - This person will be my right hand person. A chief of staff responsible for a number of miscelleaneous duties, primarily to try and keep me sane. Deputy Advocate – Mr or Miss Kickbutt - The Defense Minister Deputy Advocate – Spymaster - The intelligence Minister Ok, so now that you see my line up of ministers let me quickly discuss how to achieve my two goals Increasing the esteem of TWP throughout the world Political power in NationStates can be gained and lost in many, many different ways. Some people like Unibot try to pelt with volume so that you’re left thinking, “well he said it 1000 times so I guess it’s true” or more likely “make it stop please! I agree, please stop talking!!” How I wish to increase the power or esteem of TWP is through a very friendly and welcoming world approach. In other words I’d like to see us produce updates more frequently, reach out to our allies and have conversations on our RMBs, and the like. I believe this will increase the esteem for which people think of TWP and will help with my second goal. Make it easier for new members to get involved This is key. Getting new people involved is what will make this community a lasting community. We’re going through a change of the guard right now, so what better time than to add new folks. My Assimilation Deputy Advocate will be tasked with getting people to come to the forum and also once they are here getting them involved in an area where they have interest. It’s not rocket science but in order to rock this, we’ll have to work it. That’s pretty much it. Yes, we have to administrate The Voice and put forth legisltation and such. I’ll get those done, but what my main goal will be in my role as Advocate is to focus on these two key items. I welcome any and all questions.
  5. Is this vote still necessary with the change in delegacy? I'm not sure if the eventual new delegate wouldn't want to weigh in on the items we're discussing in the convention.
  6. In much of the minutiae on the prior page, I missed her reply. Indeed - being a delegate is time consuming and doing this would be even more time consuming. Let's scale this back then. Why don't we try it with something and see how it works. Basically a pilot. I get that we will be running with other proposals and likely select one of those. What I'm saying is that could we attempt to experiment with this idea on 1 topic that has a non-binding effect? Just to see how this could work in the real world.
  7. It's somewhat the height of hubris what I'm about to do, but hubris and punk daddy are often listed as friends. I would like for you two to stop personally arguing with one another in every thread. It's not productive and really detracts from the conversation. If you both wish to lead then do what great leaders do and lead. People are willing to follow those they trust to make wise decisions. People who are bitter, backbiting, and vindictive don't typically inspire said trust. I want to see you both show the rest of us you have the ability to civilly disagree. If you can't then we need leaders who can because the type of "dialogue" the two of you are having are just what tears regions apart. Do you think that all of us old guys agree with one another all of the time? Heck no. during my time as delegate, Eli sent me a note that - paraphrased - said if I didn't start to do something he was going to overthrow me. Haha. And we like each other. But that's also happening behind the scenes and not in front of the "cameras" as it were because many of us understand that what is said publicly has value and that disagreements privately can remain just that, private. So I am asking and pleading that you let go of your differences and help continue the conversation on the direction of TWP. Please.
  8. Do we think we could simply ask the delegate if she'd be willing to support particular proposals? By support, I mean she sees no issue with the proposal and how she runs the region. Obviously, as delegates change the new delegate would need to affirm the existing government (which is no change from today) and the current delegate is always willing to change his/her mind. The offsite government - imo - exists and has power at the pleasure of the sitting delegate.
  9. Well this conversation has taken a turn. For full disclosure, I am a member of TNP and an admin on their boards. What I'm proposing here in TWP I'd never propose in TNP simply because they do not believe in the supremacy of the delegate. In thinking about this more, I overlooked the fact that we'd be forcing the delegate to hold particular polls to vote on legislation and elections. I hadn't considered that this would in-fact be putting the off-site (where the logistics of what is voted upon and when would take place) over the on-site. That's a big oversight and definitely impacts the overall proposal. It's actually the opposite intent of my proposal, however, the result of this proposal would curtail the ability of the delegate. In order for this system to work a delegate must be willing to hold the votes and whatnot. Before we move further, Darkesia if we (on the forum) decided to go this route, is such a system something you could administrate? If the answer is yes, what are the stipulations you would want around such a system? I can't push forward with the proposal until getting answers to those questions. Lastly, all we're all just trying to see a way forward for TWP. I'm not married to this idea and I definitely get the concerns of those who have spoken up. We're at a moment where we are trying to see the best way forward. I always like offering radical ideas because it does two things - it gets us talking about something "crazy" and it also gets us talking about what really matters to us. When we do that we typically arrive at the best solution for our region.
  10. I suppose it is. If a delegate was opposed to holding polls onsite, then they are legally within their right to do so. We'd need to ask Dark and subsequent delegates if they mind holding such polls. But if they do, then this would fail.
  11. I don't consider that aspect particularly negative given that our delegate voting system could be manipulated similarly. It hasn't been for years so I do think we have a track record of ensuring in-game votes are primarily of residents. Not to say this introduction wouldn't alter that, but we're not starting without a precedent.
  12. I am not saying we need to dissolve the offsite forum. In the title it says "goodbye offsite forum government" and what that means is that the voting occurs onsite. I plan to provide more explanation, specifically around Cormac's questions, later on. But contextually, picture a world where discussions can take place here but the voting occurs onsite. This is no different than say us discussing a WA proposal. We can use this forum for the discussion, but ultimately votes are cast onsite. Conceptually, this would work similarly.
  13. I had a bad day too once. I was banned from a forum for 7 years. At least your bad day didn't lead to that result.
  14. No, those would not be by poll. I should have explained that. Delegate endorsements would determine the delegate.
  15. Uh-oh...hide ya wife, hide ya kids, the Empire is coming!!! Hey Dali!
  16. TWP has always (mostly always) maintained that the in-game mechanics are supreme. A delegate is master and commander unless they are no longer delegate. It's simple, we're consistent, and it works, imo, far better than other ethos in other regions. My proposal is that we take it to the next level - dissolve offsite forum government entirely. My proposal would list a factbook entry on the main TWP page listing how government works. The overall idea is that all votes take place in-game. The polling option truly helps in this. So when we have legislation we're going to vote on, we vote in game. If we're having elections, we vote in-game. Etc. If we wish to have discussions on topics here and/or campaigns here, that's fine, but the game is where things truly happen. I don't know of any large region that is doing this. I think we could be a trailblazer in that regard and do something completely non-traditional but use some of the new NS tools. Why try this? Like i said, TWP is about the supremacy of the in-game mechanics. We can support that idea by getting the in-game more involved and reducing the decision making that takes place off-site. That gives more of the in-gamers ability to direct the path of the region they've been in for a while. I can take a stab of writing a draft of the proposal if there is any interest in something like this.
  17. You must not know Unibot well then. This reaction seems in perfect keeping with his style.
