  1. I'm excited we've got new blood. You must remember, we've all been around a while. I hope you're around tomorrow, next week, next month. We will be. The key word in the above is 'crisis'. There have been no crises recently to spur the Gaurdians into action. I'd love one, honestly.
  2. Are you aware of how many regions comprised the NSR? I think you may be speaking outside of your experience here. That's ok, I understand you'd like to think the NSR failed and wasn't active. But the truth is, it didn't reach the goals I set forth but it certainly was active until, at worst, late fall of 2012. 1,651 posts and 50 members since June of 2012. That's not barely getting off the ground when in June of 2012 the alliance was already over a year old. Here's the link to our current forums...those forums have probably been more active than these forums (at least the parts non-gaurdians can see). http://z13.invisionfree.com/nationstatesrepublic/index.php
  3. Well it appears my radical idea has been implemented: http://twp.nosync.org/archives/thread-9838-post-184274.html#pid184274 And it wasn't so much radical as me tossing in the towel and saying the gaurdians and delegate rule and no one seems to want to challenge this paradigm, so what's the point of having a constitution? And I'd say today we have no Constitution for the most part. Like I said, i don't think any gaurdian is opposed to change and wouldn't welcome new challenges, it's just that we're probably not going to drive the bus. We've been there done that, have the t-shirts, key chains, etc from times past. In other words, we're old. It will take some new blood to get us off our backsides. EDIT: Let me update to reflect IH's post The 'enclave' as you put it, does know what's going on. But I would say that people outside the 'enclave' can influence the region. You have a voice and you can influence the region. I believe Yy is very responsive to people in-game. I'm saying that TWP is not a democracy and we left behind our legislating when we simply didn't have the membership to sustain activity. Places like TNP and elsewhere have steady activity. The problem with TWP is that none of us dislike each other and we all understand our roles and are comfortable in them. That makes for stagnation. But, as I said, I don't think any of us are averse to change.
  4. Ok - so you're more talking about recent events of 'giving up the ghost', in terms of the RA. The thing is, if people of TWP do not want to legislate one can't force them to legislate. Legislation is an activity that follows other activity. There needs to be things happening, ministers putting forward ideas, etc. in order for there to be something to legislate. Because I'm not just a member of TWP but also a citizen in Osiris and the Attorney General in TNP, I do often here from others what the world thinks about TWP. I'm often asked as well because I'm the most visible (outside of TWP) guardian - though you could argue Westwind on that point. Nonetheless, I often here that Yy is great to work with (he is) but that there is no offsite activity (there isn't much). But most of the guardians post on the RMBs and are a part of the onsite game, and i would guess that my in-game activities are the least of them all as evidenced by my lagging endorsements. I am glad you find fault in the current system as is. The only way to change it is to speak up. As I said, the guardians are not power hungry hordes, I trust our Gaurdians above any other team in this game by country miles. We've got a great delegate in Yy who is just not that into the offsite forum activities but is probably one of the best in-game delegates. But, for us (the gaurdians) the system is working. We have an active delegate and ousting TWP's way of doing things from an external force is nigh unto impossible. I think if you do want some change, and I'd love to see more forum activity, then I think you'll need to instigate things. This conversation is a start.
  5. The NSR had verifiable aims. I'm not sure how to find them on this forum. ED, through consent of TWP, changed those aims. The NSR was to be the US of NS by making regions into states with TWP as the head. It was quite ambitious and we did get a great many regions on board. That ideal changed significantly once ED took control. I was content to leave it at that, but then a newbie PUT took over and, in my biased opinion, things went downhill. I have posted a new Constitution and put it to members that we should go to regional members to have them affix their name to the document or not. If we don't get a number of people on board, no need for Tweedy and I to go back and forth and convince each other to continue. Still, this thing lasted almost two years so I can't complain.
  6. I take some umbridge with being labeled as the one who destroyed the RA. The RA was dead well before I took over from the standpoint that it was ineffectual. If anything the NSR system I established was purposefully to create more legislative discussion. Of all the guardians I most legislating friendly, I'd say by a significant margin at that. I think all of the guardians are open to new suggestions, ideas, and whatnot. We're just not going to be the ones driving the bus. Truthfully, I think you have some of the most unassuming folks as guardians in this region. When I sought to make changes, they went along with it. When ED made changes, that was fine too. And Yy has done his thing.

    Hi all

    sup Halmont...welcome back.
  8. certainly there are some in TNP who are anti-UDL, but even those that are, were suspicious of Tim's actions. Tim has said his "my bad" and I think TNP will move on to other people to crucify issues.
  9. Influence allows feeder old farts to sit on the sidelines almost in perpetuity, imo, wich leads to a lot of stagnation. As for me, I'm perhaps not as bored at the moment as some others. I've got a few things on my plate that are of interest.
  10. I'm so glad Eli is back. ...and yes Fratellnoir, most of the old Farts in TWP care less about who holds the chair than having fun. The game is not that much fun to most of us and I'd say none of the old farts are all that interested in the petty games played today. We recall when there was true political intrigue and the fights were difficult and you won some and you lost some. I'd venture to guess not one of the old farts fears any of the new class and if we just wiggled a finger, the noobies would topple. The people here in TWP aren't all that interested in that but I think we stick around in the hopes that one day, one day, the game will return to something that is worth playing. Till then...in TWP...noobies can take the ball and run as hard and as fast as they like with the people from the old folks home cheering from their rocking chairs.
  11. I'm currently running for President there but whomever is chosen is fine by me.
  12. On the NS boards, not a lot of excitement for the ideas, but I'm glad you all are getting the concept behind my idea, I actually think native registration is the better of the two because once you register natives it provides you with opportunities to do other things. I think people on the NS forums are getting hung up on the revolution and, i nearly excluded founder revolutions because I knew it would be a sticking point. One person argued that influence is basically the same thing as this but influence is a passive power unless you're delegate. This would lead to more active participation.
  13. Well, i think we're running under the assumption that the government is in flux and led by Yy. I do think that if there is something in particular you'd like to do you should contact him directly. Also - this is a time of opportunity. We're not bound by stale documents and you may have an opportunity to do something in the New World that you would otherwise not under the old system.
  14. Hmm...you must hail from TP. *chuckles*
  15. ahh...the ADN...the bastion of hypocrisy...I miss thee...
  16. I need to get off my lazy butt and ask Uni about it...although if there is anyone here quasi close to him might work better.
  17. Chaos would be fun to try out. I like it. But Powerboat, if you'll allow me, I think a follow up to your question would be, "where do I fit in the new government?" Would that be an accurate assessment?
  18. I would have loved to have re-opened this embassy...
  19. I started back in 2004, a referrall from a place called Redscape.com where I played the game of Diplomacy. I've done a lot of things, been to a number of places, but by and large I have tried to test different political ideas through this game. My favorite memory of the game is early 2006 when I ran for Consul of the Merit against the Anti-Commi Clan. I ended up losing by a vote when we had a revote after the first vote was tied. I didn't like losing, but I liked my response to the loss which was one of the most political statements I have ever made in the game. I basically congratulated ACC and built up a lot of good will by not whining about the loss. I knew that if I took that route, whenever I ran in the future I'd win big. Sure enough a few months later I won in a landslide. I actually believe the thing that has kept me in the game is the fact that I am banned from TSP. In RL, I'm probably one of the most diplomatic person out there. The fact that this situation remains unresolved after seven years continues to intrigue me and keeps me going in a sense. Once that is resolved, I may retire full time. I miss the old days but am quite surprised so many people who were kicking about then are still active.
  20. I believe Unibot has created a script to TG new nations born in TWP. That would be a very useful tool.
