The Newly Elected Government!

The previously elected Reich Chancellor Mr Friedrich Wilhelm considered the Reichstag to be too inactive and so decided that it was fit to call for a general election and assemble a new Reichstag. This was done in hopes of getting fresh people into the Reichstag to boost activity.

The Primrose League managed to obtain a super-majority in the Reichstag, after several terms of trying to regain said dominant position, allowing for excellent control over the elected house. With the super-majority, many possible opportunities have been opened for their legislative agenda. An added bonus for the league was they were able to get their nominated Reich Chancellor Mr Gavin Novawk into power.

The New Executive

Friedrich Wilhelm was replaced as Reich Chancellor on the 9th of May. With a 4:1 vote (with one abstaining) Gavin Novawk was elected Reich Chancellor for his first time. 

His first undertaking was appointing his Cabinet. His Deputy Reich Chancellor is an individual that he has worked with successfully in the past named Cephal Talleyrand. The position of Culture Secretary has been given to Edward Leben, who according to the Reich Chancellor is “a great member of this community, [who] shall utilise his experience and knowledge of TNI and NationStates to put on several events that we all can enjoy”. The State Secretary of Home Affairs position has been given to MagentaFairy for her being “a rising star within TNI, [who] shall use that excellent and friendly personality of hers to transform TNI and the Government of TNI into an approachable area for all members of the community to get involved in.”

With Mr. Novawk’s term underway, we look forward to what him and his Cabinet can do to advance the region.

TNI has also seen the election of Christopher Bishop as Reich Elector and Edward Leben as his Vice Reich Elector. Negotiations with Game Created Regions has been a priority in his tenure and treaties with newer region such as Albion have been conducted. Recently a conference for Beltaine members  being hosted in TNI has been set up by Earl Bishop (the Earl of Calüfrax) and is currently ongoing. The region wishes him continuing success as Reich Elector.

Convention Time

Since 2010 TNI has had its current Constitution which has remained the same (not counting of course the various edits to it over the past 3 years). But with the recent changes to recruitment and the WAD’s administration powers, and after a very convincing speech from the one of the region’s most respected statesmen, Charles Cerebella, it was decided a new constitution would be needed to deal with the potentially vast changes coming to NationStates Regions.

And so the region chose to hold a Constitutional Convention to draft a new Constitution. After the Reichstag passed a bill allowing it to commence, discussion got underway. People allowed to discuss in the Convention are the Kaiserin, the Heir Apparent, all Peers of the Realm, currently seated members of the Reichstag and any people who have been members of the Reichstag prior to the one who enacted the Convention.

Jet Black, one of the regions strongest legislators was appointed in charge and discussion is in full flow at the moment. All different areas of a constitution such as the Monarchy, Executive, Judiciary etc. are being considered and potentially a new constitution for future colonies will be implemented. Heated debates have included whether to merge the positions of the Reich Chancellor and Reich Elector back together and whether the World Assembly Delegate should be given more powers on the offsite forum or not. 

And so discussion continues on the Constitution and there’s no knowing where it will head next!

Festivities

Citizens of The New Inquisition gathered to celebrate the 7th birthday of the region on March 31st. The crowd gathered wearing party hats and wielding party poppers as the Kaiserin kicked the week-long festival off. The citizens were treated to one of her world famous addresses. Many citizens were seen swooning in awe and many described themselves as "weak at the knees" afterwards.

As the afternoon festivities died down, the more boring citizens enjoyed a one of a kind talk show from the comfort of their own homes. The show featured many famous TNIers including Charles Cerebella and Joshua IX. They discussed topics such as the early days of TNI, old TNIers they would like to see again, and why the youth of today are so inferior to the older generation.

The festival also hosted discussions on a wide range of topics, from the threat of North Korea to Rome Total War 2 to beautiful, pointless spam.

In the town square, the ever popular People Choice Awards was also held. There were categories for everyone ranging from the “Best Lord” to “Who is most likely to have a sock fetish”. Winners of each category were showered in roses and socks, as appropriate. Losers were booed and pelted with rotten fruit.

Just because the Foundation Day Festival is over, doesn't mean that the culture office has stopped planning. 

Foreign Affairs

Amongst a few things that are going on, The New Inquisition and the new imperialist region Albion have signed the treaty of Avalon, which binds the two regions together hoping for a more prospective future for both regions. TNI has high hopes for the new region and what it will be capable of in the upcoming future. 

Now it has almost been a year since the signing of the Beltaine Accord with not much happening done with amongst the various signers. In hopes to correct this problem the Reich Elector decided to hold another conference to discuss with the other signers about trying to get such activities planned and bringing on new member regions to hopefully bring the regions closer. 

The FRA, like it has done in the past, sent in operatives into other regions to try to change their military and political identities. This is no different than what the FRA had attempted to do in Ainur. Due to assistance provided from TNI through the ISIS, Ainur was able to uncover the plot and prevent any further damage from occurring to the region. TNI stands strong with her allies.   

Military Activities

The United Imperial Armed Forces (UIAF) has seen a lot of success in recent times with providing significant numbers to the Black Hawk occupations, Japan and Furry Federation, and the Europeia Republican Navy (ERN) of St Abbaddon. The UIAF Made up the largest number of reinforcements during all of the occupations mentioned.

Now under the command of Deputy Commander Christopher Bishop the UIAF has been able to break previous record of raids during a single update, which was 11 with the new record being 27 regions. Christopher lead an operation that broke the previous record first with 18 regions then a few days later organized the capture of 27 regions. Such significant improvement and there is no way besides going up from here!

We will be seeing a much more active UIAF in the coming months and updates!

TNI Seizes Military Victories

TNI Soldiers storm Australia

The New Inquisition Armed Forces been enjoying a successful period during which the foreign policy objectives of TNI have been attained and impressive military strength in its own right demonstrated. As part of the wider United Imperial Armed Forces, alongside our partners the LKE Imperial Army and the Royal Albion Legion, TNIAF has recently led major occupations and participated in a number of strategically important missions. 

First, TNIAF occupied New Zealand following an update raid involving 8 UIAF troops and, less than a day after the invasion, over 20 UIAF troops were already deployed in support of our Delegate. At its peak the UIAF Delegate in New Zealand had 50 endorsements gathered from the UIAF and our allies. Following this operation, the UIAF conducted yet another major occupation, seizing the historic region Australia, ending the delegate's reign after 559 days. After the initial invasion, forces from The West Pacific and Europeia combined with the bulk of UIAF forces in supporting the UIAF Delegate, while ten UIAF troops remained deployed in The Creed in support of Kantrias. This reflects the versatility of our forces in underpinning the operations of our allies and our own missions, as well as the importance of our allies in supporting our own activities. A defender liberation attempt against Australia, led personally by Unibot, was soundly defeated illustrating the UIAF's continued success in TNI's and the LKE's wars against the UDL and the FRA. We have also joined our close military partner The Black Riders in refounding Angola, K and J Alliance, and the Islamic Revolution of Iran.

Not only has impressive military might been displayed by the capacity of the UIAF to carry out these operations, but TNI's interests have been served by by the defeats which we continue to inflict upon the forces of the UDL and the FRA in battle. Equally significant a contribution to TNI's strategic interests has been made by TNIAF's role as part of the UIAF force in Osiris, deploying both in November to assist the legitimate Delegate of Osiris in thwarting the efforts of "the Empire" in undermining that region's stability and in December to support action by the Osiris Fraternal Order to remove the threat posed by "the Empire" to Osiris completely. 35 units of the UIAF remain deployed in Osiris in support of the legitimate Government. Thus, the UIAF continues to serve the foreign interests of TNI well by offering an immense military capacity to support our interventions and TNIAF makes a key contribution to these efforts. We remain very grateful to all allies and friends who we have worked with during this period.

New Reichstag Elected

The New Inquisition Reichstag

The Primrose League stormed to victory in most recent set of Reichstag elections, with its members securing control of three-fifths of the chamber. Other notable candidates elected included Friedrich Wilhelm, elected for the 'Revolutionary Republican Party' having resigned from the New Progressive Coalition in October, and Jet Black, an independent candidate noted for having spent a long period previously serving as TNI's Hauptrichter (chief judge). Since the new Reichstag has assembled, Jet Black was selected against Gun Nutty Buddies (of the Primrose League) for the position of Speaker. 

In addition, under a process initiated by the Election Commissioner it was confirmed that Olde Delaware, of the Primrose League, would be going forward from the public to the newly elected Reichstag for approval to continue to serve TNI in the office of the Reich Chancellor. The new Reichstag has now approved the nomination of Olde Delaware, with five votes in favour, reflecting another electoral success for the Primrose League. 

The Reichstag will now have turn its consideration to legislative business, in particular a bill for the regulation of cultural awards and recognitions passed by the previous Reichstag rejected unanimously by the Herrenhaus, the upper house of TNI's Diet, on the argument that it was disadvantageous compared to existing practices. This and other bills leave the new Reichstag with much work to do in order to further the interests of the Empire.

Expansion of Roleplay and Strategy Games

We are pleased to announce that The New Inquisition's roleplay sector, already strong and one of the richest areas of our forums, is rapidly expanding. Currently in progress is Imperium a world-domination style strategy game, where everyone from invasions to state production orders are all in full-swing, which has attracted a diverse range of TNI's citizenry, including lords who are otherwise retired and new members of our community alike. Citizens have also enjoyed participating in Akuna, which is set in a dystopian fantasy world where the God of decay has taken over, though this particular game is currently on hiatus due to the organiser's real life concerns, so its return is eagerly anticipated by all. 

Many members of TNI have taken to designing their own roleplay environments for fellow citizens to participate in, for example Plaguelord is planning a roleplay based on space-born fleets called Travellers, while Lynneiah developing a turn-based game in a high fantasy setting and Homo_Ignoramus working on a revival of the established Age of Empire game. Thus, with a wide variety of roleplays and games already in place and more being produced by our region's roleplay enthusiasts and an enthusiastic general population, the forthcoming weeks and months look set to be a great time to roleplay in TNI.

Change of Heir

His Serene Grace, OnderKelkia and His Imperial Highness, Charles Cerebella

Since our last foreign update TNI has a new Crown Prince following the retirement of OnderKelkia from this position. OnderKelkia announced that he had decided to stand down as Crown Prince alone among his positions in order to ensure that, with time pressures on the Kaiserin likely to increase and his own activity variable, a senior member of the TNI monarchy would always be available to act in the Kaiserin's stead. Following this speech, the Kaiserin paid tribute to OnderKelkia for his service, announced that an area of the TNI forums would be named after him and conferred upon him the title of Archduke of Saxony alongside confirming the continuation of his administrative and citizenship powers. 

The Kaiserin then announced that Charles Cerebella would become the region's new Crown Prince as a reflection of his long service on behalf of the region in a variety of executive positions spanning domestic and foreign affairs over years. Cerebella was delegated the same powers his predecessor enjoyed to exercise the Kaiserin's constitutional powers, with the exception of the authority to appoint new administrators. The citizens of TNI were unanimous in thanking OnderKelkia for his service and congratulating Cerebella on his ascension. 

Successful Festival with Albion

Recently The New Inquisition hosted our friends from Albion for what proved to be a vibrant joint cultural festival. Dubbed the 'Winterfest', the activities in the festival ranged around a variety of themes as TNI and Albion marked the season in a collective spirit of goodwill. Under the leadership of TNI's current Culture Minister Homo_Ignoramus, citizens of TNI and Albion partook in an event for the recollection of memories from both regions and a game of Mafia. Meanwhile, within the festival a Games Centre was established by Bert, consisting of twelve different games thoroughly enjoyed all participants. 

The festival is therefore a fitting tribute to the relatively new but growing relationship between TNI and Albion over the latter half of this year. In addition to these joint cultural pursuits, which have successfully involved the wider citizenry of our regions in marking our friendship, Albion is also a close ally and partner of TNI in the political and military spheres, with the Royal Albion Legion having joined TNI Armed Forces and The Land of Kings and Emperors Imperial Army in the United Imperial Armed Forces as a new constituent military back in August. This successful festival, hosted by TNI and embraced by the citizenry of both regions, further cements our relationship.

Collapse in Peace Talks with FRA

In September, then FRA Arch Chancellor Falconias unilaterally announced that he was inviting the United Imperial Armed Forces to a conference to discuss GCR defence and declaring peace in the war which TNI and the LKE have waged against the FRA. He made this without the consent of The New Inquisition, the Joint Commander of the UIAF or either of the other two UIAF governments, having only raised the possibility of a summit with a single UIAF official. Despite the way in this invite was delivered, the Government of The New Inquisition, alongside the governments of The Land of Kings and Emperors and Albion, authorised the United Imperial Armed Forces to negotiate with the FRA and accept the invitation offered by Falconias. 

TNI regrets to report that in November the UIAF regional governments instructed our delegation to withdraw from the summit after it became clear that the FRA was unable and, apart from Falconias, largely unwilling to effectively engage in negotiations. Members of the FRA delegation at the summit dissented from the principle of prioritising GCR defence outlined by Falconias in his inaugural address. Falconias himself announced that he was working on a treaty to be published the next day and then did not produce it, leading to a period of over a month in which negotiations were stalled, only for the new FRA Arch Chancellor to inform us that he was bringing the entire issue back to the FRA Regional Assembly. 

The FRA invited us to a summit and then decided to have a debate over whether they should continue to talk to us halfway through. After such unsatisfactory conduct, we accordingly withdrew and TNI's war on the FRA continues with the failure of the peace summit they invited us to attend.

The Kaiserin Abdicates

Kurfürstin Viktoria von Hohenzollern

On 25th January, Viktoria von Hohenzollern announced that she would abdicate as Kaiserin of The New Inquisition once certain legislative changes had been agreed by the Diet. On 6th February, the Articles of Abdication Amendment passed the Diet and the Kaiserin formally abdicated. The entire region was deeply saddened to learn of Viktoria von Hohenzollern’s decision to abdicate. In accordance with the Articles of Abdication Amendment, she now assumes the honorary title of Kurfürstin to recognise her position in the region and her duties with regard to the founder nation.

Kaiserin Viktoria founded TNI in March 2006 and has ruled our region continuously as Monarch since the LKE Crown abdicated the throne of TNI to her in September 2006. During her reign of over seven years in length, a duration not often reached by monarchs in NationStates, Kaiserin Viktoria has throughout faithfully led, guided and served the people of TNI. In announcing her intention, Kaiserin Viktoria clarified that she intends to remain involved the region socially but was no longer able to dedicate the time necessary in order to lead it. She is therefore convinced that that abdicating is the best decision for the future of TNI. Kaiserin Viktoria has given so much to life of the region and her standing down is a momentous occasion for TNI as we enter a new stage in our regional history.

In addition to announcing her decision to abdicate, Kaiserin Viktoria carried out her duty and made several other important announcements to the region. First, medals were awarded to Friedrich Wilhelm, Homo_ignoramus and Christopher Bishop in recognition of various political and cultural services which they have performed admirably. Second, Kaiserin Viktoria announced that the Barracks will be renamed the OnderKelkia Hall in recognition of Archduke OnderKelkia's past service as Heir Apparent as well as his past and present leadership of the region's military and intelligence departments. Third, Kaiserin Viktoria granted Plaguelord a peerage as a Baron, raised Edward Leben within the peerage to become a Viscount and elevated Christopher Bishop to become a Duke. Finally, Kaiserin Viktoria offered both general and specific thanks to the many citizens who had served her during her reign.

The Kaiser Ascends


Kaiser Charles Cerebella

Charles Cerebella, Heir Apparent at the time of Kaiserin Viktoria’s abdication, has become Kaiser of The New Inquisition.  In a Speech from the Throne, the Kaiser recalled the recent anniversary of TNI’s invasion of The Rejected Realms and other significant regional achievements from during Kaiserin's reign. Far from resting on his laurels, however, the Kaiser immediately embraced the new challenges facing the region, announcing that he would be working with the Government in order to reform the regional them away from that the German Empire in the Bismarck era towards something based on the Prussia of Frederick the Great. Like The New Inquisition, the Kaiser believes that the Prussia of Frederick the Great is a state that triumphed against the odds, rising from nothing to a real power in the system. Legislative proposals will be discussed, with the likelihood being that a number of titles to regional offices and elements of imperial culture will be amended in line with this change of theme. Both the Kaiser’s elevation and his first major decision as Monarch have been greeted with much support from the citizenry of the region.

In addition to outlining his vision to the region, the new Kaiser awarded his first grant of peerage and dealt with key personnel appointments. First, Viktoria von Hohenzollern was created the Archduchess of Neuschwanstein, becoming only the second individual at this level of the peerage, in recognition of her great service as Kaiserin. Second, Lynneiah, possessing great experience across key roles in the region (including three consecutive terms as head of government in 2011), was announced as Crown Princess and Heir Apparent of the Empire. Second, it was announced that Harshhaven, who served as a Prince in 2007-09, would be joining North East Somerset as an ordinary Prince to provide additional support to the administrative team. Finally, North East Somerset and OnderKelkia were confirmed by the Kaiser in their respective existing intelligence, military and administrative positions, with the latter granted the power to grant or deny citizenship.

On being petitioned by various citizens, the Government has authorised a Transfer of Power Event to celebrate the succession of Cerebella to the Throne. This has been titled the Schloß Charlottenburg. The activities involved in this event are being warmly welcomed by the population.

New Treaties Agreed

Since our last update, The New Inquisition Foreign Office has been busy negotiating and agreeing to two new treaties.

First, the Fraternal Treaty of Thebes has been concluded between Osiris and The New Inquisition. In light of our treaties with The South Pacific and Balder, this marks TNI’s third alliance with a game-created region. This treaty has been as a natural way of solidifying the existing military and diplomatic relations between Osiris and TNI. This relationship has included several exchanges of mutual support in both defensive and offensive military operations.

Second, the Treaty of Obcasia has been agreed with Mazeria. Mazeria is a fellow imperialist region with which TNI has enjoyed a fruitful exchange of military support in several key operations. This treaty therefore reflects the practical benefits of alliance between TNI and Maziera, our cultural affinity as imperialists and TNI’s commitment to working with emerging imperialist powers.

In addition to these treaties, the Green-Black Concordat between TNI, several other regions which raid and certain roleplaying regions was instituted by the Commander of The New Inquisition Armed Forces as an order providing a code of conduct for military operations involving TNI forces, whether operating on their own or through the United Imperial Armed Forces.

Occupation of Slavia

The New Inquisition Armed Forces, through the United Imperial Armed Forces, secured a major defeat for the Founderless Regions Alliance with the invasion of one of their member regions, Slavia, in early January. Together with the militaries of our UIAF partners The Land of Kings and Emperors and Albion, TNIAF led a coalition in an update operation involving 18 units unseating an 11-endorsement Delegate. Since the invasion, members of Slavia have actively sought to repudiate their links with the FRA. This occupation follows on from TNIAF-led invasions of The Rejected Realms, Soviet Union and Fidelia in 2012, as well as the UIAF regions’ withdrawal from a peace conference, called by the then FRA Arch Chancellor, following unprofessional FRA behaviour (including disagreement with the principles the Arch Chancellor had announced the conference on). This invasion represents the clear commitment of TNI to the prosecution of our war on the FRA and of the FRA’s inability to militarily or diplomatically defend its own regions.

In addition this occupation, Commander OnderKelkia announced that he was appointing Edward Leben to become the new Deputy Commander of The New Inquisition Armed Forces. Under the direction of the Commander and in concert with UIAF command officials, this officer has responsibility for providing effective consistent leadership to any single-region operations pursued by TNI and consolidating core TNI military strength.

Elections Underway

Recently our head of government Olde Delaware, of the Primrose Legaue, announced that he was dissolving the Reichstag and calling for new elections. Dominius Aurelius, Electoral Commissioner, opened nominations formally and commenced a nominations process lasting ninety-six hours. As it stands, according to most expectations following the most recent term, Olde Delaware is the front-runner to be returned as Reich Chancellor in this election. For the lower house of the legislature, so far there are broadly equivalent numbers from the left, centre and right of TNI’s traditional political spectrum, with the same number of Primrose Legaue and independent candidates, with the number of candidates for the more left-leaning factions being equally divided between the New Progressive Coalition and the Revolutionary Republican Party.

World Assembly Reform Passes

Following debate in both houses of The New Inquisition’s Diet, two bills to reform to the World Assembly Delegate’s position have been passed. The effect of this legislation is streamline the law on the World Assembly Delegate’s office by ensuring that all the relevant rules are contained in Article II, Section IV of the Constitution. New provisions in the Constitution clarify that the World Assembly Delegate can resign and that it is a criminal act for the Delegate to vote except in accordance with the procedure it outlines. The most significant additional provision addresses the question of ensuring the speedy transfer the Delegacy in the event of the Delegate leaving office for whatever reason. The original proposal duplicated content between the Constitution and a statute pertaining to the World Assembly Delegacy, but this was rejected by our upper house, the Herrenhaus, and returned to the lower house, after concerns were voiced by nobles about this situation.

Dear Mr Ambassador, could I respectfully request an update that is just black writing on a white background. The present one plays havoc with my eyes.

It happens when they copy/paste from a board with a black background into ours that is white.  It's a problem with the Rich Text Editor lastest versions of IPB forum software.  Rather than create separate versions for IPB boards and Zetaboards, we end up with these unreadable posts.

 

Not entirely the posters fault, but if we can compensate with versions coded separately for both forum softwares, so can others.

The New Inquisition Celebrates as the Region Turns Eight

 

The New Inquisition prepares for its annual celebration.

 

The New Inquisition is fast approaching its eighth year in existence, and that alone would be enough reason for her citizens to celebrate. But it is not only that. TNI remains to this day a large and influential region. Through highs and lows she has been sustained, and has remained an ever present part of the world of Nationstates. Her culture is robust and has developed in myriad ways over her years in existence. Her armies have led the way from the front in battle after battle, raining down victorious blows across countless regions. Her politics are active and diverse, ever evolving. Her citizens are bright, active and forward thinking, forming core groups in many other regions. The New Inquisition has accomplished exceptional endeavours in its eight year existence and the time to celebrate approaches.

 

Starting on Friday 28th March, The New Inquisition will begin celebrating its 8th anniversary. We encourage you all to attend. TNI will be pulling out the stops for a no holds barred celebration party. Fully expect to find pomp, pageantry, possible circumstance, speeches, games, drinks, old hands being nostalgic, newer hands being nostalgic, and of course the TNI staples of Tea and Bacon! We fully expect it to be a thoroughly enjoyable time.

UIAF Destroy Record

 

UIAF troop's march of triumph.

 

Led by Field Marshal Christopher Bishop, the UIAF stormed through 27 regions, thus breaking the record for most regions raided in a single update. A group of loyal soldiers, including a significant TNI contingent headed by Bishop, battled furiously with defenders in order to secure the ultimate prize of the raiding-within-an-update record. The UIAF are never ones to rest on their laurels - they followed the record with exceptional raids on eighteen regions just days later. Such feats of valour serve to illustrate the exceptional strength and organisation of the UIAF. We look forward to more and even great victories in the future.

 

Changes to the Political Sphere

 

The cabinet reconvenes.

 

Political manouverings have led to various offices changing hands or being filled. Freshly back from a short break from Nationstates, elder statesman Joshua IX returned to politics, sweeping into three positions: Reich Elector, Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Delegate to the Reichstag. He has pledged to support the removal of the now defunct Reich Elector role, thus becoming The New Inquisition's final officer in that role. Other changes to the cabinet have occurred as, due to insufficient time or inactivity, it has been necessary for Reich Chancellor, Olde Delaware, to reshuffle the cabinet. Aside from Joshua IX becoming Foreign Secretary, Salohcin has been appointed Secretary of State for Culture in order to take on the task of creating an exceptional Foundation Day Event. Supporting him are former Kaiserin, Viktoria von Hohenzollern, and former Secretary for Culture, Fairybella, who have been appointed Minister-without-Portfolio. TNI looks forward to an excellent Foundation Day celebration masterminded by such an exceptional team within the government.

Competitive election produces new government mixing youth and experience

 

Heated debate in the region have led to a new government being installed combining experienced older members with newer citizens

 

The New Inquisition followed successful 8th anniversary celebrations with an exciting and competitive General Election. There was fierce competition and debate from a range of candidates and the formation of a new political party, the Prussian Reform Party introduced added spice.

 

The election saw the following candidates elected:

 

Fabius Maximus (Primrose League)

Joshua IX (Prussian Reform Party)

Sir Pitt (Independent)

Torrin von Vonno (Primrose League)

Viktoria von Hohenzollern (Independent)

 

Two candidates ran close campaigns but were unsuccessful: Wyzecat and Oberkommando Crabtree. 

 

Following the elections, Viktoria von Hohenzollern defeated Sir Pitt in the Reich Chancellor elections and formed a new government. The new Reich Chancellor promised to bring in newer members alongside experienced citizens to drive the region forward over the months ahead. There are hopes that this term will see significant activity across a range of areas within the region.

Kaiser promises reforms to The New Inquisition

His Most Gracious and Imperial Majesty, has delivered a Speech from the Throne at the start of the new Government and the end of the 8th Foundation Day celebrations, the first of his reign. Referencing the success of the Foundation Day celebrations, His Majesty once again stressed the need for the region to attract new blood. 

 

Laying out the priorities for the future of the region, the Kaiser said that alongside upgrades to the forums there would be changes made to reform TNI from a 19th Century Imperial German region, to an 18th Century Prussian region. 

 

Subjects have loyally given their support to the Sovereign and there is excitement and anticipation as all look forward to what how this change will be implemented. 

 

The Kaiser also announced that the former Reich Chancellor, Olde Delaware, would be elevated to the title The Margrave Palatine of Bremen, in recognition of his leadership of The New Inquisition. 

 

From the frontline - a TNI Armed Forces Update

 

The New Inquisition Armed Forces have continued to go from strength to strength since our last update. As part of the United Imperial Armed Forces, together with the LKE Imperial Army and the Royal Albion Legion, TNIAF recently conducted an occupation of Scotland. This success was a joint occupation between The North Pacific Army and the United Imperial Armed Forces, designed to further relations between the UIAF regions and The North Pacific. The complete absence of any opposition from the UDL or the FRA is further proof that the UIAF is attaining victory in TNI and the LKE's wars against the UDL and the FRA.

 

As of time of writing, 29 UIAF troops are deployed in The Soviet Bloc reinforcing an occupation by the Lone Wolves United and more UIAF troops are expected to arrive. Prior to its invasion, led by LWU and in which UIAF partook, the delegacy of the Soviet Bloc was in the hands of Milograd and the 'Lazarene Liberation Army', making the invasion and subsequent occupation solid victories against Lazarus, which conducted an absurd purge of UIAF officials (including then TNI Kaiserin and former Lazarus Delegate Gryfynn, and current Kaiser Charles Cerebella), and, as Lazarus is a member of the FRA, the FRA as a whole. Thus, the UIAF is continuing to doggedly pursue the wars of TNI and the LKE against the FRA with great success.

 

Against this background of victory after victory, TNIAF Commander OnderKelkia announced the appointment of Torrin von Vonno as Deputy Commander of The New Inquisition Armed Forces in light of his dedication to update operations and demonstrated capacity for military leadership. Torrin von Vonno has subsequently been dual-hatted as the UIAF's TNI Division Commander (succeeding Edward Leben), to be combined with his role as Deputy Commander of TNIAF, by UIAF Joint Commander Bishop. This appointment reflects the coming of a new generation of military leadership. This generation is more than ready to carry on TNIAF's legacy of creative and professional operations which serve the foreign policy objectives of our region.

 

Imperial University signs agreements with Lands of Kings and Emperors and Albion

 

The Imperial University of The New Inquisition has signed two agreements with universities in Albion and The Land of Kings and Emperors which will see the Imperial University work more closely with these institutions.

 

The Imperial University is one of the premier universities in Nationstates and it is hoped that these agreements will lead to the advancement of learning across all three regions.

The New Inquisition Launches Stock Exchange - Speculation is rife!

 

Traders busily go about their business, hoping to make their fortune

 

The New Inquisition has launched a brand new cultural project, The New Inquisition Stock Exchange (TNISE). Many prominent members of the region, including the Kaiser have joined the game which is based on a combination of NS nations and contributions to the region. 

 

TNISE began trading on Monday 28th April, and has so far seen active trading from players. Prices fluctuate based on the trades made by players and the performance of players within TNI. Players are then assessed at the end of each month both on the performance of their company (which is based on the combination of their NS nation and their TNI performances) and their trading (how much they have increased the value of their portfolio through buying and selling various shares in other companies).

 

TNISE is open to foreign players on application and those interested in taking part should register on the TNI forums to take part. 

 

TNI People's Choice Awards announced

 

The glitz, the glamour, the excitement was all present for TNI's ever popular People's Choice Awards...

 

After a long hiatus, TNI's People Choice Awards were held. The Awards give citizens of TNI a chance to nominate fellow citizens of TNI for various awards (serious and silly). The competition was intense, but the Reich Chancellor announced the awards as follows:

Celebrations of jubilation and bitter recriminations followed, but there was agreement that the awards had been an excellent success and that there would be not quite so long a wait before the next Awards took place.

 

TNI-UNKNOWN CULTURAL FESTIVAL BEGINS

 

Citizens from TNI and Unknown were waltzing long into night during the festival

 

Following a series of negotiations between the Culture Secretary of TNI and members of Unknown, the TNI-Unknown Cultural Festival has begun. which has seen citizens from Unknown visit TNI's forums to take part in a roleplay state occasion with food, dancing and costumes.

 

This has been noted as a signal of a return to activity and strength for TNI. What is special about this event is that instead of the usual fun and games characteristic of TNI, this joint festival has opted for an approach closer to that of Unknown, taking the form of a roleplayed ball with a central theme of twisted fairytales. There has been a warm reception towards the event, and frequent posting, including appearances by many leading members of both regions. It is believed that relations between the regions would see further development through this event.

 

Imperial University launches essay prize competition with LKE

 

The Imperial University of The New Inquisition has launched its first essay prize competition for players across Nationstates. 

 

The question that players have to answer is: 'What is the future of Imperialism in Nation States?'

 

Essays are free to answer this question in any way, provided that they address the topic and essays will be judged by the Chancellor of the Imperial University of TNI and the Chancellor of the University of LKE.

 

They will be judged on strength of argument, structure and use of language as well as creativity/novelty.

 

Individuals have till Monday 26th May 2014 - Noon GMT to submit their essays to either the Chancellor of either university.

 

The winner will be announced shortly afterwards, and they shall receive a joint-Doctorate from both universities and be given appropriate honours. 

 

A selection of the best responses will be published in both universities.

Happenings in The New Inquisition!

 

 

UIAF Triumph in Liberal Haven and Ixnay speaks to military prowess

 

Taking Aim

 

During the morning of July  13th, a coalition of allied forces were able to wrestle control of Liberal Haven away from occupiers Doom Squad in an ISRA-led operation. The UIAF forces made up the largest proportion of the coalition army. The victory was our blow to our enemies the Right Wing Uprising, which include the Greater German Reich, a fascist and Nazi region which we are at war with. This most recent liberation of Liberal Haven, alongside the occupation and refounding on Nazi Europe stands as a severe blow to the GGR. 

 

The re-founding is the peak of our operation against the region of Nazi Europe, caturing and destroying the historic Nazi stronghold in NationStates.  TNIAF Commander OnderKelkia has been quoted about the recent refounding of Nazi Europe:  "In concert with our allies and partners, the UIAF is glad to have secured this victory against a representation of hatred in this game. The UIAF would like to thank all regions which have contributed to the Nazi Europe invasion and re-founding."

 

Outside of our war with GRR, UIAF forces assisted our friends in The Black Riders, and are assisting in  occupation Ixnay. The operation in Liberal Haven was undertaken during our deployment in Ixnay. This victory stands as yet another defeat for the UDL and FRA forces, our long-time enemies. 

 

Commander OnderKelkia had this to say: “Our versatile forces are more than capable of undertaking counter-invasions in update operations against forces aligned with the GGR while simultaneously reinforcing a raider-led occupation which the UDL and the FRA remain incapable of defeating (in no small part due to the UIAF's might securing the region). Wherever you look, the UIAF's military prowess is dominating, ensuring that the interests of TNI, the LKE and Albion are protected and advanced.”

 

 

Treaty Termination with The South Pacific

 

The cabinet met in an emergency meeting aimed at a proper response to the announcement that The South Pacific had formed an allience with The Rejected Realms, a FRA ally. Minister-President Fairybella crafted a stern and clear message to our former allies. "...it would be inappropriate for us to remain allied to The South Pacific now it has made made a mutual defence commitment in a bilateral agreement with The Rejected Realms." This is because a core principle of our foreign policy is our war against the Founderless Regions Alliance, which includes The Rejected Realms. 

 

Kingdom of Ainur visits TNI

 

 

The Kingdom of Ainur, an old ally and friend of TNI currently being revitalized, was hosted for a week long party with TNI. Spirits were high, singing was loud, and a number of people were certainly feeling it in the morning. Former Cultural Minister Fabius Maximus was rumored to have an agenda for the affair: to get everyone drunk, he had this to say: “…And by God, I did it!...” The event was hailed as a grand party, and the region as a whole looks forward to future events with the Kingdom. 

 

 

From Prussia with Love -  Kurfustin Viktoria von Hohenzollern to be wed August 4!

 

 

A date has been set and planning is well underway for Viktoria von Hohenzollern’s wedding to Unknown’s cultural minister Anubis. A northern lake has been chosen for the occasion, as well as a Nordic theme. The wedding will be accompanied with a functioning sauna, a grand feast, and Viking décor. Bring your swords, shields, and mead horns, it will be quite the celebration!

 

Revitalized Theme

It has been a goal of TNI to embrace an 18th Century Prussian theme, in order to solidify our the dedication to our region's culture. It also avoids any connections to unsavory regions with similar symbols. Some of the final touches are being made with an update constitution that reflects our dedication to Prussia. A few examples include the Kaiser title being switched to König, the Reichstag being dubbed Landtag, new peerage titles and, of course, the new flag at the top of this update.

 

 

Treaty of Amity with the Kingdom of Great Britain  

 

A treaty of friendship is in its final stages of approval between TNI and the Kingdom of Great Britain. Aimed at solidifying our friendship, as well as setting up future cultural exchanges, the ratification is expected within the coming week. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Torrin von Vonno had this to say: “We are still in the final stages and hammering out a few last details, but I am optimistic that this will present a good opportunity for both of our regions.”

 

Imperialist 3 Conference Underway

 

Behind closed doors the Imperialist 3 Conference has started. Delegates from TNI, Albion and The Land of Kings and Emperors are discussing the current state of affairs and future goals of the allies. More updates will follow.
