I'm happy that as Halo said in his discourse, he has been able to bestow the Delegacy on someone very qualified... working with Bran in IA has shown me exactly how much drive and passion he has. Congratulations!

I will be leaving tomorrow for a two week orientation for my new position working with an NGO in East Africa, and then moving there at the end of the month to train, learn the language, and begin work. I'm very excited for this, but also probably won't be on NS much until I settle down again. Even then, since I don't really have a concrete picture of what my internet access or my schedule will be like, I might not have quite as much time for the game, but we'll see.

Just gonna make another announcement: in an effort to keep June as our football month, and because I may be away part of next week, I will double up match-days on Thursday and Sunday, thereby bringing the season to a close on Sunday. If we do have a post-season, which we may not, it would most likely be after a break so I can attend yet another a wedding on the seventh.

    “NOC Declares Independence”
CNNN, Bandar, Bandar Province. Just over a week after firefights erupted in Bandar, a group calling themselves the “New Order of Craiolia”, or NOC, have declared themselves independent from the government. The province of Coastal appears to be their main site of operations, with several different militia groups in that area pledging allegiance to them. President Mor Boor vowed to crush the rebellion in an official statement released this morning.
    “Food Crisis Gets Better”
CNNN, Faldan, Akbar Province. Government-sponsored food rationing programs, as well as the seizing of dozens of Craiolian Pride cargo ships filled with food, have helped ease the food crisis and avert fears of a famine in the past few days.

    “Parliament Effectively Dissolved”
CNNN, Bandar, Bandar Province. President Mor Boor ordered the retirement of all members of Parliament that are not part of the CDLP (Craiolian Democratic Lawmakers’ Party) earlier today due to the onset of martial law. Shortly after the announcement was made, the CDLP gained 173 new mwmbers. In doing this, Mor Boor has ensured that their will be little to no opposition to his “plans to save the nation”.

The people of Eranshia are mixed about the results of todays games. Fans of the Royal Academy of Eranshia rejoice as they see their team defeat Basric National in the first game of the season. The Royal Family of Evaans said to personally come to the next game to see their sons and nephews play. The bars near RAE's campus were spilling out into the streets with celebrations for the Crowns. It is said that many of the lords and ladies of Eranshia threw many fancy dress parties in honor of many of their alma mater. The split comes in the outcome of the Eranshia Parliamentary University Green Drakes game against Armed Forces University. Fans were not happy to see the school of democracy go down in round one especially after the teams victory over the Royal Academy in the Kingdom Cup (the national football tournament in Eranshia). John Smith, the quarter back at EPU said the loss was due "overconfidence and underestimating their opponents" in an interview with ENN. Hopefully things turn out better for the Green Drakes. The people of Eranshia, Crown and Gold Drake, can agree on one thing: that they wish to see at least one Eranshian school come out on top in the WPCAA.

Welcome to the first ever edition of WPCAA's West Pacific College Football!  This is where the magic happens. In this thread, you will post your rosters, roleplay your teams, and tell the stories of your victories on the gridiron. This got really long, so I’m gonna put a TL;DR right up here:
TL;DR: You can post your RPs in this thread. Find the schedule and a guide to creating a roster below, as well as a little information from me on how I’m organizing things.
This is the RP thread. All posts here (with the exception of WPCAA announcements) should be made IN CHARACTER.
Twenty-eight teams have entered into TWP’s college football league, eager to test their mettle against their neighbors. Those teams have been sorted into four conferences, names for the four continents of TWP: Polaris, Doll Guldur, Aura, and Andolia. Not all teams in each conference come from the continent it is named for, with the exception of the Polarii Conference (Polaris showed up for football, y’all). There are in fact so many Polarii entrants, that they couldn’t all fit into the Polarii Conference. So with that exception, every nation has a team in its continent’s conference. Because I think it will be more interesting to play against teams from different countries, no nation has teams in the same conference. This means you will all be playing against teams from multiple continents, as well as teams from nations not yet on the map.
Below are the conference assignments, with teams ordered arbitrarily.

    SCHEDULE
(Matches against team 8 are byes.)
    Polarii Conference Schedule
    Doll Guldurian Conference Schedule
    Auran Conference Schedule
     Andolian Conference Schedule
Given that there will be fourteen gamedays in the season, I will try to post results three times a week. I will post a cutoff in this thread before I calculate results so that it is clear which RPs are counted when. If things go smoothly, hopefully everything will fall into a regular schedule, but I don’t know everything I’ll be doing this month, so I will not be committing to any times or dates as of yet.
You may now post rosters and RPs in this thread.
The first results cutoff will be Monday, June 3. This will give you all a little extra time to post your rosters, as well as your first RP if you like and will allow me to be away for a week to be in my friend’s wedding.
    Rosters
Rosters are an important aspect of sports roleplay, for a couple reasons. If you only make one post the entire season, it should be your roster. Here’s why:
    1.      Rosters let your opponents know who they’re facing. This makes things more fun for everybody, increases realism and immersion, and lets them RP better.
    2.      In this competition, a degrading RP bonus is used, but rosters are exempt. That means the more you RP, the more likely you are to perform better, but while older rps won’t count as much towards the bonus, your roster will keep its value throughout the competition. A good roster can give you a sizable bonus that will help you out throughout the whole competition.
    3.      Rosters are your way of letting us know about you. Teams will be coming to play in your stadiums over the course of the season. You don’t only have to talk about your team in your roster post, you can also describe your country and let visitors know what to expect. Do you have a factbook? Great! Lots of that info might fit well in a roster post.
    4.      Rosters are where you post your RP permissions. RP permissions are a tool that we use to make sure that roleplay is fair and everybody can get along. More info on these lower down.
So what should you put in your roster? Well, your starting XI, to kick things off. Let people know who they’ll be seeing on the field. Go ahead and tell us about who your players are, if you like. From there, you can build outwards: you can say who your team’s substitutes and reserves are, show off a team or school logo, talk about your school, describe your stadium, or describe the culture and geography of your country. Play style, team formation, tactics, and your team’s managerial staff are also great things to include. The only thing a roster should not be is anything narrative: it is written in a more encyclopedic style.
    RP Permissions
So what are RP permissions? They are a set of guidelines you establish to let people know what you are okay with happening in their roleplays. Your players will be featured in other people’s RPs, after all, so if you want to control how people write about your characters, this is how you can do that. By filling out your RP permissions, those with whom you are RPing know what boundaries to adhere to when creating their roleplays. Below is a sample RP permission box. Yours can look a little different, it’s up to you.

    Time to RP!
With the opening of this thread, you can finally start to RP for your teams! Obviously, you won’t have any results to RP about until the first cutoff, but you can write about anything you like until then. RPs don’t have to be written only about your team’s performance on the field—any IC post is fine. I will give bonuses to those who RP, but don’t worry about that: if you don’t want to, you don’t have to, and you should be writing to tell the story you want to tell and most importantly, to have fun. The second, and only other rule, is that you must respect the posted scorelines and your opponents’ RP permissions in your RPs. Other than that, your imagination is the limit!
I can’t wait to see what you all come up with! Good luck to all of you!

The first gameday's results have been posted. From here on out I will be doing my best to move things along at a pretty regular pace: I'm hoping to have results every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday evening. This way the end of the season will coincide with the last day of June and any postseason play will happen in July. For the postseason schedule I'll try to base it off feedback I get from you guys during the season so that it can be tailored to whoever is playing in it. That's also true for the regular season: the schedule is subject to change if anything comes up for me, but if you guys would rather have it paced slower or faster, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Any long term changes will be announced here. If I'm going to miss just a single cutoff, I'll try to put something in the #sports channel on our RP server.
As always, feel free to ask any questions or comments here in the OOC thread.
    Good luck!

Bran is right. Not all nations on NS even have human citizens. If Wyvern wanted to have a dragon on one of his football teams, that would be totally acceptable, so there's no reason that gender should matter at all. You're free to have players of any gender in any combination, whether that is a more 'realistic' all male line-up, a co-ed team, or something else.

Tim: So the whole situation relating to Craiolian Goods and even the future of the nation has just degraded. S—t really hit the fan this week, especially in Bandar. With me this week I have our current events reporter, Adam Sandhausen. I’ll hand the mic to him for the next few minutes.

Adam: Thanks, Tim. What you said is completely accurate. The situation has escalated rapidly. People are incredibly agitated about a possible famine, especially with no comment from the Boor Administration so far. And WikiSpills has recently released a few lines of code that they claim is from a CBI listening device discovered inside of the Craiolian Pride Central Offices. The Administration has no comment on that either thus far. We’re not going to release the code for legal purposes, but this is a massive security breach on the part of the CBI, especially with the decrypt key having been discovered.

That wasn't something that came up in our planning sessions, but I'm going to point towards WPBR as precedent. That event, while typically male-only IRL, is co-ed without penalty or modifiers regarding gender in TWP RP.  Each nation participating in the WPCAA Football tournament is free to set team rosters as they see fit.

    RP Permissions

  23. Thanks

    UPDATE
I'm please to see what looks like a great crew coming together! We'll be getting things rolling soon. I'm here to bring a little bit more information in the meantime.
Sign-ups will probably be closing early next week. Typically, I'm hoping to get two or three game days in each week so that we can have a bit of a regular schedule once the season starts, but we'll have a slightly longer period--one week--between the closing of sign-ups and the first RP cutoff. This will allow people to work on rosters, etc. I've decided also that the RP bonus you will receive for your roster won't decay the same way other RP bonuses will. This means: write a roster! Even if you're not going to RP, it's nice to at least let other people know who they're playing against. I will post a guide to writing your own roster when I post the RP thread, which I will do when sign-ups close. Also, even if you don't get around to it right away, it means that it'll help you out to write a roster at any point. As they say, better late than never. I will also be giving you extra time before the first cutoff so that if you like, you can write a roster as well as your first RP. I will be giving space for a bonus for both.
Another note on scheduling: I'm hoping to have a nice round number of teams so that organizing you guys into conferences can be nice and symmetrical. I have a little control over the numbers, but I may jump in and cut off sign-ups if I see there's nice round number, which is why I'm not publishing an exact date for the close of sign-ups. That said, all of you who are members of the Hall of Nations are eligible to enter two teams. That means that a few of you can still enter one more team. @Podium, @Craiolia, @Arnic, @ghouldovka, @HankTheTank87, and @ete74, you can all still submit one more entry.
My goal is to have 4 conferences named after the continents on the map; Polaris, Doll Guldur, Aura, and Andolia. Since most of the teams are from Polaris, and some people aren't on the map, the conferences won't actually reflect the geographic location of the teams. It depends on the numbers, of course, but I'm hoping that each team will play every other team in their conference at home and away. The conferences will also be put into pairs and teams will play an inter-conference game with each team in their paired conference. I will try to place teams into conferences so that no one who has two teams will have to play against themselves--what's the point of that?
Anyway, that's the plan, so I hope that this is nice and transparent and gets us all on the same page. Sorry for the wall of text.
You'll hear back from me next week!
