  1. Its not a complaint Arch its a request for information - if they were declared protectorates of TWP would they be recognised as such by our ally?

No malice, no scheming just clarification

Likewise if LKE laid claim to a region would TWP respect that claim, or does the treaty only relate to the "mother" regions?

I wouldn't want to send TWPAF into a region and unknowingly step on LKE's toes

  2. ^ I cannot possibly fathom how such a hardliner stance will gain any reputability nor benefit for TWP. What TWP and TWPAF needs to do is take a stance on neutrality, to allow for cooperation between the raiding and defending community with a singular interest in mind; TWP itself.

The only reason I actually take the time to join and become active in GCR's is because it may be the only time I can break away from my social norm of being a raider, and I can collaborate with bright minds on the opposition, because we have an outlying goal in mind. What TWPAF needs to do is allow itself to become a facilitator for unilateral cooperation between all gameplay alignments.

I will admit that I am glad to see that TWPAF has reorganized itself. While I am not as glad to see that TWPAF has fallen into certain hands, I will set aside my prejudice as I have a genuine interest in improving TWP and TWPAF, and that should be your outlook as well.

    It is

Unfortunately pandering to the whims of our allies has not bought us success or respect in the field.

Acting as lapdogs to the existing power complex will never allow TWP to establish itself, and hesitating to take action that benefits us because it may offend the sensibilities of our allies is hardly the way for a dynamic energetic region to behave

In the past I have also proposed the natural extension of Francoism, namely to ensure that THIS particular  GCR is not seen as an easy touch for any UCR that fancies its chances.

The label you choose, the cause you promote is irrelevant - what matters is serving notice to those that do not want to build TWP that any attempt to thwart our ambitions will not succeed.

If effort was concentrated on TWP rather than spreading ourselves thin through dalliances in multiple other regions then we might just achieve something unique and different

In the TWP we have a region capable of leading the way in NS, It is not acceptable to fritter that potential away by merely tinkering at the edges

  3. We've got Protectorates and Dominions?  What? Who? Where?

The West Pacific Defense Alliance Refounded

On 7 December, The West Pacific Defense Alliance, a region that has been used as a jump point by various militaries over the past year, but notably not by The West Pacific Armed Forces (WPAF), was refounded by WPAF in a renewed effort to protect WPAF's brand throughout the world.

In other news, Fandom Alliance was secured by WPAF's Reef Hounds a short time later.

Okay, so they've not yet been official designated as such, but it is only a matter of time  ;)

  4. (b.) Neither TWP nor The LKE will engage in military hostilities against the other. Participation by TWP and The LKE on opposite sides of a military engagement that does not constitute an attack on either region shall not be considered "military hostilities against the other" for this purpose

Could we get clarification on whether our Protectorates & Dominions are considered as territory of TWP and are therefore covered by this clause?

  5. "The signatories commit themselves to the principle of mutual defense and military cooperation. The military of each signatory is encouraged to work with the other whenever possible. Co-operative military training programs and exercises are encouraged, and may be proposed by either party. Each signatory recognizes the right of the other to refrain from participation in actions that would violate their sovereignty."

"While respecting the right to recruit nations under NationStates rules and understanding the necessities for growth and renewal of regions, neither TWP nor Equilism will deliberately engage in mass untargeted recruitment from the other, nor from one another’s protectorates which have been established by each region and communicated to the other signatory."

Does the military consideration cited in the first quoted section above extend to our protectorates or are they only covered for recruitment purposes as mention in the second section?

  6. You misunderstand me Uni

Friends ans allies will come in due course, but such connections will be made on our terms once TWP decides the direction it wishes to follow.

"Friends" who seek to divert us from that course for their own interests will not last long - my vision of TWP is one where friendship does not come with strings attached but out of mutual respect and trust.

  7. I'd like to note that I very much agree with Arch's previous point on the separation of the intelligence and military. I see little to no reason for us to have to add a completely unnecessary position to the regional bureaucracy; the office of Field Commander does almost nothing that the individual branch heads could not do themselves.

As such, I'd like to request that somebody draft a bill separating the two branches and removing the office of Field Commander.

Really Llamas, this is how you repay me?   :o

When I first arrived in TWP I had just effectively disbanded TRF - not the organisation that Misley now heads up, but rather the force that included Proletaurus and La Passionaria, Marxingrad and Cuba Socialista

Now these names may not mean anything to you, acting as we did on the peripheries of gameplay by concentrating on the Left vs Right political aspect of GP rather than the more common Raider/Defender/Independant/Imperialist mainstream - i guess you could say it was a little bit of a sideshow.

We we were generally regarded as pariahs - we didn't conform to the orthodoxy, so we couldn't be trusted.

This isolation meant that we did not enjoy the "tools" that other militaries enjoyed to identify targets, we did not benefit from having experienced veterans, we had learn bu our mistakes.

And boy did we make mistakes! Our "participation" if it can be called that, in the attempt to liberate THe Proletariat Coalition highlighted our inexperience in update operations. However it also revealed how little trust the Establishment really had for us, and coloured my own perception of Defenders - frankly they are not prepared to do everything that is necessary to stop raiders

However, after a tentative start our sideshow became a viable force, we developed our own trackers and tactics to maximise our limited resources  - Strange as it may seem, we never actively recruited for members, they came to us :o and our offsite HQ for active participants boasted 230 members at it height.

We were courted by Raider and Defender alike to throw our hat in the ring with them. They failed to realise that our objectives simply did not converge, so assumed we must be siding with their opponents. Natuaraly our dealing with the "Imperialists" were slightly more delicate, being philosophically opposed to their viewpoint, but I can reveal that intel was provided by TRF to enable certain regions of interest to be wrested from the hands of "fascists", and naturally we were more than happy to provide aid to any GCR campaign against Nazi Europe  ;) .

Over time our "contribution" to Gameplay did register - I think both TRF and Antifa have been up for condemnation more than once, but neither have ever been awarded probably because we never fit wit the accepted profile!

So what has all this to do with the topic at hand I hear you say?

Well, I bought to TWPAF the experience of bringing together a collection of disparate bunch of individuals with varying skills and objectives, and by providing an environment in which they could learn and put to practice their ideas forged a cohesive, co-operative unit that were able to stand in the field against raider defender and the WA (we refounded more than one region that was subject to Liberation Proposals at the 11th hour! :P )

Although I was present on many missions, my circumstances meant that I could not take part in the majority, and therefore had to entrust my colleagues to do the deed, but everything was planned and outlined beforehand.

Our objectives were clear, and support, either in the form of advice or WA's was always given if it was available

When TWPAF was looking for a Commander I considered applying but ruled myself out because of my absence at updates, as I am sure Westwind will testify, and concentrated instead on projecting TWP's influence in whatever way I could - some of you may be familiar with the Reef Hound project.

When recent changes to the structure meant I could adopt the post be acknowledging the Warlord would effectively act at update rather than requiring my presence everytime I was happy to accept the PM's offer.

The point is that to lead an effective force in Military Gameplay it is not  necessary to always deploy at update - by limiting ourselves to such operations we limit opportunities to project TWP's power far and wide. If you want to raid at update go joid TBR, if you want to defend at update only, see what FRA are up to (but don't hold your breath) .

If you want to have a lasting impact...........then accept that TWPAF has to be different

I am not afraid of getting my hands dirty so to speak, but I also see the disadvantages of having resources tied up that could be deployed more effectively elsewhere - flexibility is a prize that is well worth having if we wish to exploit ad hoc situations

However, regardless of structure, nothing can be achieved unless TWPAF has objectives, and it is that  which will provide the spur to activity. Once we know where we want to go then we can plan accordingly.

  8. No excuses. no apologies

An assertive campaign to liberate permanently regions being dominated by raider, defender, Francoist and imperialist elements.

Exporting TWP Liberty to the oppressed, the disenfranchised, the abandoned

Welcoming the outcast with no prejudice as long as they give their fealty to TWP

  9. Blimey, I actually got a name check - thought I'd managed to stay well under the radar!

However riddled with  holes this article may be it does pose a very real question - Whither now TWP?

I have made no secret of my own vision of a truly independent TWP, strong enough to follow a path that benefits the region rather than playing to the crowd, or allowing its direction to be swayed disproportionately by the vested interests of those who do not cherish the region, but see it only as a vehicle to further their own ambition.

Unibot implies in his article that TWP is on currently on the peripheries of NS activity, and that is something we should relish and cultivate - being different offers us the potential to be innovative.

Darkesia has hinted at the opening up of our constitutional structure, and I like to think that, in my small way, I am encouraging diversity and initiative in the Military sphere.

We do not need anyone outside the region to decide our destiny, we are capable of determining our own fate

  10. While I see how you would like to start from the military of TWP, I think one of the main things we also need to consider and out our efforts towards to, is the creation and regulation of an active community driven government for the region. There are currently certain proposals that have been discussed or are being discussed, and that still need some refinement.

We also need to try to engage people into those government / cabinet roles that we will create, and make them understand that the region will go where we want to lead it to!

And that is the question is it not - what is the vision of where we take TWP

    What are our prime objectives?

It is all very well to sat something along the lines of we want to be the best region but that is rather a nebulous concept - best at what?#

What does being the best look like?

Is it an active Proposal drafting community, a powerful WA lobby, a busy Roleplay environment, a prolific R/D component?

  11. Point of Order, the Field Command has no authority over the HGA, and your War Lord did indeed demote everyone.  Do I need to direct you to the HQ thread ? You posted in it yourself, yet you claim to be unaware ?

"The War Lord will maintain complete authority over the Battle Division and the Spymaster General will maintain complete authority over the Intelligence Division."

I take that to imply the War Lord has jurisdiction over the Battle Division and ts organisation or have I misread that?
