Vanessa continued: "The 3rd place match was fought between Cambria and Nagaraningrad. During the match, the Cambrian goalkeeper only conceded one goal, however the Nagaranite defense was unluckier and failed to defend four goals by their adversary. Therefore, the match ended with a 4-1 win for the Cambrians. Now, onto the final between Nieubasria and Larxia! Unlike the 3rd place match, the final only had one goal scored throughout the match, with many other close attempts. In the end, the sole goal was scored by the Nieubasrians, and they were then crowned the Champions of the 1st World Cup of Football, while the Larxian team earned the second place."
Karlo then started talking: "Now, here is the second part of what we promised yesterday—some statistics about our team! Giovanniland had three draws, two defeats and one win, and in the table below you can see all of our game results and who scored for our team in each match! There were five different scorers and six goals scored, with Gustavo Zapata scoring two of those and the other players one each. Coincidentally, all of our goals were scored in the first half of the matches. We also conceded eight goals, with six coming from our defeats against Larxia and Irador, and the other two from our draws against Fhaengshia and Libterraria."

The two inner lanes of the westbound Thraproy Regional Highway heading in to Steskia are currently closed after a stolen vehicle crashed into the median. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the car, according to police. 
Police declined to answer whether this accident has any connection to the homicide-car jacking in Perthdoches.

President Paul R. Goldberg barely wins re-election, beats Sen. Jeremy A. Maxson by razor-thin margin
Today, in what was widely described as the greatest political upset in the history of Santos-Dominius, President Paul Goldberg of the centre-right Democratic Coalition Party(DCB) won re-election, beating an extraordinarily strong and spirited challenge from Senator Jeremy Maxson(WS) of the centre-left Country Liberal Party(CLP), which was heavily favoured to take control of the Fribernese Fortress throughout the entire duration of the campaign. As polling stations opened in the early hours of election day, President Goldberg managed to consistently gain votes at a steady pace as Sen. Maxson underperformed expectations and saw terrible turnout among the mail-in voting demographic, which leans heavily CLP and tends to be counted the earliest.
As the day went on, Sen. Maxson pulled ahead several times as President Goldberg suffered from strong CLP turnout in the battleground swing cantons of Niedersasslen and especially Nordrhuin-Theronigen, where the President's lead shrunk to an abysmal 342 votes in what was called "the tightest cantonal race in all history". Sen. Maxson also suffered from low turnout in left-wing cantons like Lemandie, Framboise and Waldburg-Stadt, as well as voter apathy in important CLP strongholds like the cities of Roivivion, Louisann and Waldburg. At one point, upon looking at the results at a polling station in rural Lemandie, CLP vice presidential candidate Sen. Art Bernstein(LM) exclaimed: "my home canton has abandoned me for the President and the DCB!" Maxson purportedly did the same at his Waldburg home in Waldburg-Stadt, his home canton.
When night fell in Waldburg, the mood at the CLP election headquarters in the city's downtown slowly became sombre. It was becoming crystal clear, at the time, that Sen. Maxson would not be able to catch up to President Goldberg, who finally surpassed him in the popular vote an hour ago at 5pm. Leading in Niedersasslen and narrowly surpassing Sen. Maxson in Nordrhuin-Theronigen, President Goldberg had achieved what seemed impossible only a month ago - winning re-election, albeit by the smallest and thinnest of margins. He is expected to be sworn in, this time for his 3rd term, on February 16th. The final results of this presidential election have been provided below in detail.

Welcome to the 1st World Cup of Football! If you are a participant, you can start posting about your nation's football (soccer) team (logo, players, kits, and any other related information). You can also post about your team's preparations for this inaugural event!
Another important thing to include in your roster post is the "role play permissions". If you want to role play while making sure that the other RPer(s) won't do inevitable things you don't want to happen to your team, you can post these below outlining what the other RPers can or cannot do, for example:

The last three permissions, godmodding, is the role playing unrealistic or unbelievable things happening. So if you want a more realistic experience for your team (and what we hopefully want in the games for the duration of the tournament), you can ask other RPers not to godmod in your matches. You can also add, leave, or remove any role permissions you want. It's your team, so we will let you dictate the way your team plays (as long as it is realistic).
Also, you can include what we call a "style modifier". This is a number between -5 and +5, which indicates if you are a defensive (leaning to negative numbers) or an offensive (leaning to positive numbers) team. However, this won't affect your chance of victory. If you also don't put one, you'll automatically get a neutral modifier (0.00), and that is just fine.
There are also some teams that are not citizens and are not in the map. This announcement will tell you that it might be hard raking up the wins. The teams who are citizens and are in the map can (emphasize on can, not are) be ensured of a win if they face a team who is not a citizen and is not in the map. Certain handicaps are also in place for those waiting for their applications to be accepted in citizenship and/or a place in the map. However, it has been evident that the scorinator can still give surprises in the results it gives for every match (trust me when I say, a newcomer in an international rugby competition managed to eliminate the defending champions and snagged 3rd place).

For those that have been participants of previous sports roleplay (the Rugby World Cups, the College Football games, and the 1st Summer Olympics, among others), then you know there will be something like this. For those that have not, don't you worry!
To enter the 1st World Cup of Football, just add a reply to this topic by saying "I want to sign up for the 1st World Cup of Football", or anything along the lines there. Though, same with the RMB, we won't allow double posting (except for me to post my intentions in signing up ). You can always edit your reply at any given time how many times you want. Also, this thread is for signups and OOC (out of context) posts, like questions about the tournament. Nagaraningrad is run as If a kingdom run like in the Orwell's 1984, altering the truth, lots of thoughtpolice, an absolute admiration to Maharaden. The name of title, people, and laws are based on Majapahit and other old Javanese language and kingdom.

The Great United Parliamentary Socialist States of Artztokzsia was birthed from a Glorious War which ended in 1470. It's predecessor, The Socialist State of Artztokzsia, won the fight against the Arminskish and the Monglians with the help of other clans of the Azure region. The nation then fell into turmoil as the current government did not satisfy the needs of the newly Arztokzsyan people. The then current Premier, Malilov Artiskov, was replaced with the current Premier Georgi Benoran in 1476. Georgi Benoran was loved by the people and greatly improved the lives of people by creating Skyline Programme, where cities were built by a certian layout for maximum efficiency and productivity. The Government of the UPSRA is split into 3 Wings the Executive, Legislative and Judicial.
 
Legislative Wing
      The Legislative wing is contained in the Central Committee. The Central Committee is made up of 100 representatives from the 4 regions each getting 25. There are also 50 representatives from the Ministry of State and 25 from the Ministry of External Affairs. The Central Committee handles issues on the national and international level while Lesser Committees handle issues on the regional and district level. The Ministry of State represents the executive branch and also carries out legislation made by the Central Committee on the national level. The Ministry of External Affairs represents the UPSRA on the international level and carries out legislation made by the Central Committee on the international level. Lesser Committees have 10 representatives from every district from their respective regions. Representatives in Lesser Committees are elected every 5 years and representatives from the Central Committee are elected every 10 years, representatives from ministries are appointed.
Executive Wing
      The Executive wing is consist of the Premier, Deputy Premier, the Ministry of State, and the Central Committee. The executive branch carries out constitutional legislation made by the Central Committee. The executive branch also commands the military but all actions must be approved by the Central Committee. The Ministry of State consist of the Department of Finance, Internal Commerce, Industry, Education, Health, Transportation, State, Defense. Some departments split into offices. For example the Department of Industry splits into the Office of Agriculture,  Manufacturing, Mining, Resource Processing, Energy, and Labor.

A couple sentences about your nation: A sovereign country situated bordering Giovanniland to the south and to its north, across the sea, the country of Zoran. The country includes the an island group to its west which are within its 200 nautical mile EEZ numbering 10 small islands. Min-Su follows a bureaucratic style of monarchic rule, similar in a way to Ancient China's Han and Qing dynasties. Min-Su is a newly-developed country engaging in the tourism industry, agriculture and aquaculture, and jade and crystal mining industry.

An Official Letter from the Divine Shaman to the People
To the People of Zoran,
Dear children of the Spirit, these are turbulent times for our people. We have not seen conflict like this since the Great Spirit War when Gawonii the Heretic divided our people, but times have changed much since then. We are no longer individual tribes who were divided over beliefs, rather we are now one state, one tribe, one family. This isn’t conflict between tribes, this is conflict within a family! We must not forget the words of Adanvdo and the teachings of the Spirit during these times.
But as many of you are aware, there are those that claim I should lead our people in a temporal role as well as a religious one. Do not believe these claims, for I wish no such thing. I am simply a spiritual guide, not a head of state. Those who claim such things are fanatics, those who misunderstand the teachings of Adanvdo and the word of the Spirit! All those that are part of these fanatics must realize the error of their ways and lay down their arms to prevent further bloodshed. I condemn these fanatics for their actions and their claims. I do not wish to rule this country, I am only a guide in the ways of the faith. All shamans who are part of these fanatics are to be considered shamans no more unless they repent before me.

GEOGRAPHY
Located on the northern coast of Andolia, Fhaengshia covers an area of 462,346 square km (178,513 square miles), including the islands of Caendhai, Imallier, and Liciah. To the north, the marshy tropical coastline of Ahfeginsi is dominated by wetlands bordering the Darkesian Sea, and is separated from the arid plateau dominating a third of the country with the Greater Shihganfean mountain range rising up to 3921m at Mt. Oune. Soil condition in the north is poor being predominantly sandy clay, the eastern coast provides the most fertile land with Binah being the largest of the lakes providing year-round irrigation. West of the mountain range, spring snowmelt from the peaks drain down to seasonal lakes in Enuo and Aneiane on the Aiarn Plateau which primarily provides for subsistence agriculture for most of the plateau region. The lower plains and forests to the south of the plateau are sparsely populated due to inaccessibility as the majority of the population lives along the east coast with the bulk on Caendhai island.
Climate: Tropical in the north with rainy seasons along the north and east coasts Apr-May and Oct-Dec. Coastal mean annual rainfall of approximately 2400mm; average daily temperature range 22-31ºC (71-88ºF). The plateau interior at an average elevation of 1800m (1.12 miles) experiences cooler conditions with a mean range of 5-20ºC (41-68ºF) with 400mm rainfall. High humidity of over 80% cover most of the coastline in Oct-Dec.

Language: Fhaeng is the official language of government and is spoken as a first language to roughly 45% of the population. Ganfa is an official regional language with three major dialects (Northern, Aiarn and Shenian) being the first language to roughly 55% of the population. Common is frequently spoken in the trading ports of Fhaendhaw, Gheffa and Finsi and a basic level is taught in most schools.
 
CONSTITUTION & GOVERNMENT
Executive & Legislature: The Consuls are the head of state with executive authority, by convention following advice from a cabinet. The bicameral legislature is composed of the Grand Assembly and the Grand Council. The first Consul is elected for life with the second Consul elected by the Senior Councillors to a single, non-renewable 5 year term. The current constitution was written in 1356. Justices of the Supreme Courts and top military officials sit alongside elected members in the Grand Council. Last elections were held in January 1420.

Administration: There are 12 territories and one national territory, grouped into 6 clusters, with the Shihganfe cluster comprising Shihganfe and Ahfeginsi, the Aiar cluster comprising Bhaiarch, Trhaiarch, Aneiane and Enuo, the Shenia cluster comprising North Shenia, South Shenia, Central Naegsainh and Central Saegnainh, and the Gheffian cluster comprising Upper Gheffian and Lower Gheffian. The national territory of Fhaengshia is split into the other two clusters with the Fhaendhaw cluster comprising only the island of Caendhai and the Fhaengshian cluster comprising the rest of the national territory.
Justice: Based on common law, there are magistrate courts and tribunals throughout the nation with district courts in larger population areas. Appeals courts are in the capital for each territory and a civil supreme court and criminal supreme court in the nations capital hearing ultimate appeals.

Agriculture: 20% of the land is arable. A further 24% is used for meadows and pasture. Tropical, subtropical and temperate crops can be grown and mixed farming is practiced in wetter regions and subsistence agriculture in more arid regions. At high altitudes (up to 2500m or 1.55 miles) tea, sisal and wheat are the main crops while at lower altitudes cacao, cotton, sugar, cashews, dates, bananas and pineapples are mainly grown.

COMMUNICATIONS
Railways: 6,800 km (4,230 miles) of which 3,300 km (2,050 miles) are electrified.

Aviation: There are 84 airports of which 19 have paved runways. The main airports are Capital Ghomhoeria (near Fhaendhaw), Ganfa Intl. and Gheffa Std. Air Fhaengshia provides international services.
Shipping: The marine ports of Fhaendhaw, Gheffa and Finsi are situated on the Darkesian Sea. There are around 5,600 km (3,500 miles) of inland waterways, of which 1,600 km (1000 miles) are navigable throughout the year. Merchant marine (1000 GRT or over) 61 ships (34 cargo, 15 tanker, 8 passenger and 4 bulk).
Telecommunications: Most of the populated areas have an adequate modern service, inland regions are still unreliable. There are 6.1 million telephone lines, 13.4 million mobile phones, 7.8 million radios and 12.1 million televisions, with services provided by both private and state-owned companies. There are 45 AM, 127 FM and 3 shortwave radio stations and 22 TV stations. There are 8 ISPs and 11.6 million internet users.
 
EDUCATION & WELFARE
Education: The system consists of primary and secondary schools, 17 technical colleges and 5 universities.
Literacy: 90% (1418). Female 90%, male 91%.
Health: There are 125 hospitals among many other health clinics and dispensaries under a free national health service for children and adult citizen outpatients. In 1418 there were 191 doctors and 367 nurses per 100,000 persons.

Total Armed Forces: 31,700, (1420) Defence budget $4.1b/yr (1.3% of GDP).
Army: 19,700; 45 main battle tanks, 30 light tanks, 45 APCs, 90 IFVs, 195 towed artillery, 22 SAM batteries, 26 AA gun systems and 4 vehicle-launched bridges. Army bases are near Niebhaw, FH; Finsi, AH; and Shashia, NS. Led by a Brigadier.
Navy: 4,600; 4 frigates, 12 patrol and coastal vessels, 1 survey vessel, 1 vehicle ferry (600 lane metres), 6 light landing vessels (60 troops, 70 lane metres), and 4 utility helicopters. Navy bases are near Fhaendhaw, FH; and North Gheffa, UG. Led by a Captain.
Air Force: 3,200; 16 combat aircraft, 12 cargo aircraft, 6 observation aircraft, 12 armed helicopters and 24 utility helicopters. Air Force bases are near Fhaendhaw, FH; and Finsi, AH. Led by a Colonel.
