  1. May 22, 1421 8:52 PM IAT; Faltech Arena, San Dojas

Some 60, 000 fans - the majority are Larxians - are going wild with the game playing for the last ball of the 16th over. The winner of this game will take bragging rights as a finalist and even win the tournament. King James and President Luke Salazar are watching the game together. The Adaikesians won the toss and chose the Larxians to bat first. The host, the Larxians, have scored 131 runs, their lowest in the whole duration of the tournament, but are still feeling good with their chances. The Adaikesians, hoping they get what they want from this game and this tournament.

The Larxian team has already taken out 9 Adaikesian players, while the Steelbats only need three more runs to win the game. The only Steelbats players left are their captain, Wynne Albrekktson, already with 77 runs scored, and the youngest, Arnaldo Dolezal, with 11 runs scored. Dolezal will be batting for this last ball. It's now or never. Dolezal knows that if he gets himself out, the game will be over, and the highest place they can get will be the 3rd place only. If he can get another run, it's either they win it and proceed to the championships, or they continue playing for more opportunities while limiting not to play risky.

The Larxian player bowls. Dolezal waits for the right moment. The ball bounces off from the ground. Dolezal times it perfectly and swings his bat. The ball flies away in the northeastern direction. Dolezal is anxious as he feels the ball flew low. Albrekktson has his hands up in the air. Every fan is shouting at the top of their lungs, the Larxian fans hoping their fielder would catch it, the Adaikesian fans hoping it will pass the boundary. A Larxian fielder near the boundary tries to catch the ball. He jumps. But the ball is still higher from his middle finger. The Larxian fielder missed! The ball passes the boundary! That gives them six more runs! The Steelbats are going to the championship game! Dolezal drops to his knees, crying tears of joy! The lad just felt the pressure he was feeling throughout the game left him! The whole team runs to Dolezal! Albrekktson, who was nearer, tackled and hugged Dolezal from the ground!

"A hell of a game, Your Majesty!" an aide heard Salazar tell King James. The two world leaders shook hands. "I'll see you in New Larxia tomorrow, Mr. President," King James replied.

  2. May 18, 1421 5:45 PM IAT; right after the Cambrian captain was interviewed

Albrekktson gave Kane Finch a dap and a pound hug after he was interviewed. Before the interviewer could asked a question, Albrekktson started, "Our hearts and thoughts to everyone in Cambria, especially to what happened. Props to the Cambrian team for coming out to play, and playing strong with us today despite of what happened."

"We were lucky there at the end," Albrekktson replied when asked about the final outcome of the game. "If there was another over played," he continued, "they could've won the game easily. This stage has brought the best eight teams, and of course, everyone's bringing their A-game and doing their best, and that there should be no complacency towards any opponents even if we're leading as long as we are still playing."

"The coaching staff were looking at the scenarios last night," Albrekktson answered about the team going forward and advancing to the knock-outs, "and while we got 2 wins here in Super Eight, we're hoping Nieubasria win their last two games, regardless of the outcome of our game with the Fhaengshians. We dislike having to tie with the others as we know everyone will be in a sticky position, and that feeling that you gave your best in this tournament, only to be eliminated because of a tiebreaker. So yeah, the team does not like the idea tying with the other teams."

  3. May 16, 1921 9:25 PM IAT; ZCA Stadium, Zancoudo; after the Basric captain was interviewed

"We had good batting," Albrekktson replied, when asked about being the last two players left before winning the game, "but, yep, we need to tone down with being risky with our runs. We'll also need to do better in the next games, especially when we're facing the Cambrians next. We're going to watch tapes of some of their games and see what we can get and capitalize with our practice tomorrow and in the game."

  4. May 14, 1421 5:45 PM IAT; right after the Denieria captain was interviewed

"We're hoping Larxia would win the next game," Albrekktson replied while smiling, when asked about the future of the Steelbats, "we're not loving our chances if we are going to have a three-team tie. Heck, we made sure to win because we don't like tying with others."

    10:00 PM IAT

"We might have already played some games," Coach Laud replied over the phone, when asked about their team's chances in the Super Eight, "but the competition starts at this stage. Top 2 teams from each groups, and for this group, we got 3 Polarii teams. We'll surely give everyone a run for their money in the next days."

  5. May 12, 1421 9:25 PM IAT; right after the Santos-Dominius captain was interviewed

"Well, what I said after the first game was actually the plan for this game," Albrektsson replied, when asked about their win. "It's always a wonderful feeling getting the whole opposing team all out and not finish their innings," he added, "the focus on bowling and fielding in our last practice really paid for us. But, we want to be the all-around team on our last game for the First Round that would let us advance to the Super Eight."

When asked about the reason Coach Laud held the team up until around 10:30 last time, Albrektsson replied, "It's just the reminders Coach had for the team, and the expectations for this game and the coming ones. We'll surely bring the momentum we had from tonight, roll through it in tomorrow's practice, iron what needs ironing, and continue with it in the next games."

After the players had their showers and changed to their formals to return to their hotel, they were surprised to see Coach Laud already waiting for them in the bus, fast asleep.

  6. May 10, 2021 9:15 PM IAT; right after the end of the game

"We batted well," Wynne Albrektsson started, when asked how he felt after the first official international game for the United Adaikes National Cricket Team, "but we bowled and fielded awfully, that's what I want to say. We're surely going to the field tomorrow to do some bowling and fielding."

When asked about their next game with Santos-Dominius, Albrektsson replied, "We've seen a little action from them earlier, they played good. But of course, the coaching staff might have already seen something that we can capitalize during our game and get us that victory. And that'll be one thing we'll be exploiting in the practice field tomorrow, aside from bowling and fielding."

9:20 PM IAT; in the locker room of the Steelbats

"I know that this is everyone's first official international game," Noel Laud, the head coach, points to everyone angrily, with the redness in his face visible because of his anger, "I won't name names, but where is your professionalism?! Get your head in the game when you're playing!! The youngster can even humiliate some of you because of his attitude even if he's just new to the game!"

All the players can agree that this was the first time they saw Laud throw a fit to everyone, knowing that their coach is someone who is soft-spoken. It was only about 10:30 PM when the team left the arena for their hotel.

  7. May 9, 1421; 7:30 PM IAT; Inside the premier function room in an undisclosed hotel for the Steelbats in Nexilia

"So, it's going to be the hosts first, then Santos-Dominius, and then Denieria," the oldest in the team (and the second-most respected person after the captain), Kalyana Ceallachain said while looking at the TV screen showing the Opening Ceremony live from New Larxia, the others looking on. The captain, Wynne Albrektsson, as well as Noel Laud, the coach, was in New Larxia for the Ceremony.

"My mother's still asking me how did it feel meeting the president," Akpofure Garey, the youngest, spoke to anyone who would listen, "but my father is asking me why the hell is the President here in Larxia with some of his Cabinet." But he was covered by the screams of the other team members, "WYNNE!!" every time they see their captain in the TV.

    9:30 PM IAT

"Okay," Albert Burgos, the Conditioning Coach, breaks the silence of those still watching the ceremony and others fiddling with their phones, "the coaching staff have heard that this'll end by around midnight, so Coach has told me to give you lights out by 10. We need you to be in top condition tomorrow. We will also be waking everyone up by 5 AM, for y'all to prepare for breakfast by 6 AM, and then go to the stadium by 7:30. Coach and Wynne will meet us there by that time. Any questions?" Hearing none, "okay, you can now go back to your rooms."

  8. May 8, 2021; 12:30 PM Auran Standard Time; New Larxia; Watchtower of Larxia's international airport

(radio message) "Larxia Tower, this is Uniform Alfa Delta One. Requesting permission to land. Over."

The controller nudged his colleague in his left, covering the mouthpiece of his headphones, "Why is the Adaikesian Presidential Aircraft coming to Larxia? I thought only their cricket players are coming?" His colleague just shrugged his shoulders.

"Uniform Alfa Delta One," the controller replied, returning to his headphones, "this is Larxia Tower. You are cleared to land on runway one-seven. Over."

"Roger that, see you in a few, over," came out from UAD1.

Upon landing on runway 17, and parking on a designated apron for special aircrafts, boarding ramps are connected to the cabin doors of the UAD One. While the two cabin doors opened at the same time, the rear cabin door saw people coming out first with the Steelbats cricket players of United Adaikes including the team staff heading off from the aircraft, along with some government staff. The first to come out of the front cabin door was the Chairman of the United Adaikes Cricket Board Xenocrates Mun, followed by United Adaikes Sports Commission Chief Pouria Barr.

After at least 20 minutes, members of the Cabinet went out. Foreign Affairs Secretary Anne Duncan was the first to head out, followed by Secretary of Trade Felice Colbert, Agriculture Secretary Kristen Bryan, Communications Secretary Sami Wirth, and Energy Secretary Hallam Chase. Retired General Carlo Charlton, now the Secretary of Military Affairs, came out with President Luke Salazar. Many would think United Adaikes officials came for an international summit.

A staff from the Department of Communications has told the press that they will not give any statements now, take the opportunity to rest after the 20-hour flight straight from Adaikes Central to New Larxia. The said staff has also said that the President will be attending the Opening Ceremony tomorrow evening.

  9. With 15 registered nations, the Loremasters and the Lorekeepers decided to include 1 Non-Playing Character (with no bonuses to be given and with neutral style modifier), also hailing from Doll Guldur, to have all continents represented. With that, we have 16 playing nations. They will be divided into four (4) groups with four (4) teams each. Nations will play with all nations found in their group once. A win is given two (2) points, a draw is given one (1) point, and a loss is given zero (0) points. The two (2) nations with the most number of points in their respective groups will progress to the Super Eight. The progressing eight (8) teams will be divided into two (2) groups with four (4) teams each, playing with all nations found in their group once, with the same point tally for every outcome of their games, and same qualification for the knock-out rounds (top 2 nations in the 2 groups of Super Eight will proceed to the knock-out rounds). The knock-out rounds will start with a cross-over semi-final game to determine who will be playing in the championships. When points are tied, number of wins, result of head-to-head meetings, and the NRR (Net Run Rate) of tied teams are checked to break the tie.

(Excuse the OOC, but) Starting with this tournament, we will also be giving a whole-day RP day. While the results will be posted on 9 PM EDT, the posting of the results of the next match day will be 48 hours after the posting of the results of the previous match day. For example, for the 1st Match Day of the First Round, the results will be posted on May 10 9 PM EDT. May 11 will be an RP Day. We hope that it would increase and improve role play interaction between nations. The cut-off for role play on that match day will still be an hour before posting the results of the next match day. In the previous example, the cut-off for role play will be on May 12 8 PM EDT, and posting of the results of the 2nd Match Day of the First Round will be on May 12 9 PM EDT.

The scheduling of round robin games are as follows:

    R1 Match Day 1               Super 8 Day 1
    3 vs 2                           C vs B
    1 vs 4                           A vs D

    R1 Match Day 2               Super 8 Day 2
    2 vs 1                           B vs A
    4 vs 3                           D vs C

    R1 Match Day 3               Super 8 Day 3
    2 vs 4                          B vs D
    1 vs 3                          A vs C

Please do not post in this thread if you are not a participant. Also, no OOC posts, please.

Welcome to the 1st T20 World Cup! This is an international Cricket tournament with Twenty20 International rules. If you are a participant, you can start posting about your nation's cricket team (logo, players, kits, and any other related information). You can also post about your team's preparations for this event!

Another important thing to include in your roster post is the "role play permissions". If you want to role play while making sure that the other RPer(s) won't do inevitable things you don't want to happen to your team, you can post these below outlining what the other RPers can or cannot do, for example:

    Injure my players: yes/no
    Dismiss batmen: yes/no
    Deliberate unfair play: yes/no
    Godmod injuries: yes/no
    Godmod scoring: yes/no
    Godmod other events: yes/no

The last three permissions, godmodding, is the role playing unrealistic or unbelievable things happening. So if you want a more realistic experience for your team (and what we hopefully want in the games for the duration of the tournament), you can ask other RPers not to godmod in your matches. You can also add, leave, or remove any role permissions you want. It's your team, so we will let you dictate the way your team plays (as long as it is realistic).

Also, you can include what we call a "style modifier". This is a number between -5 and +5, which indicates if you are a defensive (leaning to negative numbers) or an offensive (leaning to positive numbers) team. If you don't put one, you'll automatically get a neutral modifier (0.00), and that is just fine.

If you have any questions, you can always ask me in Discord. You can DM me or drop your question in #twenty20_one of the RP server. You can also ask me in the OOC thread.

T20 World Cup Signups & OOC

Welcome to the 1st T20 World Cup! As the tournament name suggests, we will be role playing Cricket this time! For those that have been participants of previous sports roleplay (the 1st World Cup of Football, and the Rugby World Cups, among others), then you know there will be something like this. For those that have not, don't you worry!

To enter the 1st T20 World Cup, just add a reply to this topic by saying "I want to sign up for the 1st T20 World Cup", or anything along the lines there. Also include the link of your nation in TWP to ensure that you won't get disqualified when we review entries for signups. Though, same with the RMB, we won't allow double posting (except for me to post my intentions in signing up :D). You can always edit your reply at any given time how many times you want. Also, this thread is for signups and OOC (out of context) posts, like questions about the tournament. If you don't like asking questions here, you can ask them in #sports or #roleplay-chat in our RP Discord server (join us here: https://discord.gg/pNNm2amb) or message me there directly. The IC (in context) thread where we will be posting our nations' team information (players, kits, logo, anything related to such), roleplay (preparations, match day events), and results will be separate and shall have the link be announced in Discord or can be viewed here in our forums starting May 8, 2021.

In addition, I will be scorinating this tournament, but if you want your country to host the 1st T20 World Cup, signify the same in your reply for signing up. A little bit of something new from the previous versions of role play, we will be assigning responsibilities for the nation that will host this World Cup (to be selected on May 6, 2021, announced on May 7, 2021), including but not limited to posting info about their nation, posting about venues, the role play during the opening ceremony, and the role play during the closing ceremony.

Bids for hosting will be accepted until May 6, 2021 at 8 PM EDT, while signups will close on May 7, 2021 at 8 PM EDT.

That's all for now. Confused about how we will be doing this? New with scorinating? Taking a page from Resu's book, read below.

Sports rp is a special kind of roleplay where rather than the roleplayers deciding what happens, the results are generated first and then the stories are created by the players after the fact to fit the results. This means that the cardinal rule while rp'ing is don't contradict the provided scoreline.

Ah, but how is that scoreline created, you ask? With a special piece of software called a 'scorinator.' A scorinator uses random numbers to generate a realistic score for a sporting even, taking into account several factors. These factors usually are rank and roleplay. If the competitors have competed in the past and established before which teams are stronger, that can be reflected by assigning those teams a rank. The scorinator will then provide realistic results where the stronger team is more likely to win. On the other hand, teams can be given an rp bonus as well. RP bonus is a tool used to encourage people to roleplay in the competition. The user scorinating the competition will read rps and give a bonus to each team according to the roleplay it wrote, slightly boosting its performance in the scorinator. However, this doesn't mean that if you roleplay you will win, and you should always roleplay because it's fun, not because you want the bonus.

Results will be scorinated one matchday at a time to allow people to roleplay about each game. If you have any other questions about the whole thing works that I didn't address here, feel free to message me or ask in the thread.
