“Yes, I’ve seen the comments.”
This was Coach Ferne Huxtable’s reply when asked about the comments made by pundits at home that the current national team is not peforming the level shown by the previous team.
”This might come as an excuse, but we need to put in multiple factors as the reasons for every comment on what the pundits say,” Coach Ferne continued, “though we don’t let those comments affect us. It’s their opinion, and they’re entitled to do it.
“When the team first met two months ago, we decided that our mentality for every game is that we’re playing the last game of the tournament. Despite sweeping our opponents in the Group Stage, we’ll make sure there’ll be no room for complacency to ensure we will get the result we want against Blue Bubble.”
When asked about her thoughts on Blue Bubble Rugby, Coach Ferne replied, “They’re surely making efforts to put their name on the map when it comes to sports, and it’s very effective. There’s the hosting and the good showing in Esferiad, as well as the upsets in this tournament. This quarterfinals will surely be a great game for both sides.”
When asked about comments on the other match-ups, Huxtable flatly refused to answer the question.
”I’m here to answer questions related to our upcoming match against Blue Bubble. We’ll do our best to win, and regardless who we meet in the next round, we’ll prepare for it the same way we prepare for games.”

The youngest starter in the team, a college sophomore from Gasple, Adaikes, Kaelea Kimberly cannot believe that she's living her dream of representing the country to the Rugby World Cup.
She has been playing association football all her elementary and junior high school days. But when she saw the first national team in the 2nd Rugby World Cup bring Bronze home during their first appearance in the tournament, she spent the rest of her senior high school days training to become a rugby-playing student and hopes to become a national player. She also applied for the United Adaikes Military Academy (UAMA), a well-known rugby powerhouse in collegiate sports. However, she was not accepted and thus settled in the neighboring Spring Hill University, also in North Shil, Adaikes. She took Bachelor of Sports Science, the majority of what all college varsity members are taking up in all 64 member-universities of the University Athletic Association of the United Adaikes over the country.
In her first year in Spring Hill, they won the UAAUA Rugby Tournament and got a one-way ticket to the College Rugby Kings Tournament, an annual tournament where UAMA can play against UAAUA schools (of which UAMA is not a member because it is a federal government-sponsored university; UAAUA only allows private universities as well as city and regional government-sponsored universities). The UAMA has never lost and has someone else scored against them in that tournament until Kimberly scored a try against them last year in the championship game.
That put her on the radar of Coach Ferne Huxtable when she was still coaching Palm Valley University. Inviting Kaelea Kimberly in the national tryouts was an excellent opportunity to show that college players can also represent the country in international games. Kimberly did not expect to get the starting position and relished the chance to play with the other star players in the country. Hell, she'll accept it if the team puts her on the reserves list and not even on the bench.

A month before the Rugby World CupThe UARFU Spokesperson Asia Irvin introduced the UARFU President to the press present for the media interview related to the Rugby Union team they will be sending to Zoran for the 3rd Rugby World Cup.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Irvin started, "the President of the Rugby Football Union of the United Adaikes, Ms. Maria Darnell," before leaving the dais.
"Thank you, Ace," Darnell spoke right after arriving in the dais and put her phone in the lectern. "We will be addressing multiple concerns in this conference. I know not only the media and our friends in the sports community are concerned, but all fans and enthusiasts in the country. I will be answering questions after I am finished."
She opened the folder she brought and took the paper and briefly read the paper. She cleared her throat before she continued.
"The 15-man team who brought glory for the country in the first Rugby World Cup we participated in, bagging Bronze Medal in the 2nd Rugby World Cup, led by Coach Giovannie Gallardo and Miguel Gonzales, will be retiring in international competition. Majority of them are actually retiring from the sport. While one of the reasons are the effects of concussion and concussion-related injuries, this is not what the majority of the team are experiencing from those who are retiring. Some are changing courses in their life, others will take the rest of their time to be with their family.
"But I'm also here to announce that Coach Giovannie will be staying in the UARFU as the head of the national pool and recruitment. Miguel, Ivan [Rivera], Felix [Chua] and Romeo [Vailoces] will be part of the coaching and training staff when they are in the country, while Miguel is also heading the institutionalization of the domestic league system in the country.
"The new head coach of the national rugby team is Coach Ferne Huxtable from the Palm Valley University in Thurhope. The new lineup of the national team is a mix of the national pool as well as players in the University Athletic Association of the United Adaikes, of which you will be receiving."
She stopped and looked at her phone. She looked at Irvin before saying, "I will have to cut you all off short, but Ace is here to answer your questions. I'm being called in the Red Palace. Thank you for your time."

If you are a participant, you can start posting about your nation's rugby team (logo, players, kits, and any other related information). You can also post about your team's preparations for this event!
Another important thing to include in your roster post is the "role play permissions". If you want to role play while making sure that the other RPer(s) won't do inevitable things you don't want to happen to your team, you can post these below outlining what the other RPers can or cannot do, for example:

So if you want a more realistic experience for your team (and what we hopefully want in the games for the duration of the tournament), you can ask other RPers not to godmod in your matches. You can also add, leave, or remove any role permissions you want. It's your team, so we will let you dictate the way your team plays (as long as it is realistic).
Also, you can include what we call a "style modifier". This is a number between -5 and +5, which indicates if you are a defensive (leaning to negative numbers) or an offensive (leaning to positive numbers) team. If you don't put one, you'll automatically get a neutral modifier (0.00), and that is just fine.

3rd Rugby World Cup

Welcome to the 3rd Rugby World Cup! For those that have been participants of previous sports roleplay, then you know there will be something like this. For those that have not, don't you worry!
To enter the 3rd Rugby World Cup, just add a reply to this topic by saying "I want to sign up for the 3rd Rugby World Cup", or anything along the lines there. Though, same with the RMB, we won't allow double posting (except for me to post my intentions in signing up
). You can always edit your reply at any given time how many times you want. Also, this thread is for signups and OOC (out of context) posts, like questions about the tournament. If you don't like asking questions here, you can ask them in #rwc3 in our RP Discord server or message me there directly. The IC (in context) thread where we will be posting our nations' team information (players, kits, logo, anything related to such), roleplay (preparations, match day events), and results will be separate and shall have the link be announced in Discord or can be viewed here in our forums starting 2/9/2022.
Also, I will be scorinating this tournament, but if you want your country to host the 3rd Rugby World Cup IC, signify the same in your reply for signing up (only if you are a Veteran Storyteller, a role that can be seen in our Discord server). A little bit of something new from the previous versions of role play, we will be assigning responsibilities for the nation that will host this World Cup. Prepare at least four (4) stadiums (with seat capacity, if available) in cities in your country. Additional responsibilities are given in the Discord post about this one and more will be discussed upon your selection.
Bids for hosting will be accepted until 2/7/2022 at 12:00 AM ET, while signups will close on 2/8/2022 at 12:00 AM ET.

Sports rp is a special kind of roleplay where rather than the roleplayers deciding what happens, the results are generated first and then the stories are created by the players after the fact to fit the results. This means that the cardinal rule while rp'ing is don't contradict the provided scoreline.
Ah, but how is that scoreline created, you ask? With a special piece of software called a 'scorinator.' A scorinator uses random numbers to generate a realistic score for a sporting even, taking into account several factors. These factors usually are rank and roleplay. If the competitors have competed in the past and established before which teams are stronger, that can be reflected by assigning those teams a rank. The scorinator will then provide realistic results where the stronger team is more likely to win. On the other hand, teams can be given an rp bonus as well. RP bonus is a tool used to encourage people to roleplay in the competition. The user scorinating the competition will read rps and give a bonus to each team according to the roleplay it wrote, slightly boosting its performance in the scorinator. However, this doesn't mean that if you roleplay you will win, and you should always roleplay because it's fun, not because you want the bonus.
Results will be scorinated one matchday at a time to allow people to roleplay about each game. If you have any other questions about the whole thing works that I didn't address here, feel free to message me or ask in the thread.
