Sweeney (31'), Ross (79', 85')United Adaikes set a key early marker in the 2nd World Cup of Football race with a convincing victory over Cyrylic at The Blizzardfall Stadium in Vatriopol, Constellatoshire.
Collin Maddox had been denied by Cyrylic keeper Taziano Merante three times before handing the Panthers a well-earned lead just after the half-hour. United Adaikes never seemed in danger of losing the lead the whole match.
The Panthers underscored their superiority with two more late goals as center-back Peter Knight headed in Cameron Ross's corner, and captain Billy Jordan unleashed a powerful finish past Merante, whose superb performance was essentially the only positive for Cyrylic, aside from their interceptions.

Group Stage Draw
Group Stage Mechanics
With 24 participating nations, they will be divided into four (4) groups with six (6) nations each. Nations will play with all nations found in their group. A win is given three (3) points, a draw is given one (1) point, and a loss is given zero (0) points. Four (4) nations with the most number of points in their group will progress in the knockout rounds. When points are tied, goal difference, goals scored, and matchup results between the tied teams are checked to break the tie.
Results are given at 8AM ET, with a cut-off for role play at 7AM ET two days after.

Welcome to the 2nd World Cup of Football! If you are a participant, you can start posting about your nation's football (soccer) team (logo, players, kits, and any other related information). You can also post about your team's preparations for this inaugural event!
Another important thing to include in your roster post is the "role play permissions". If you want to role play while making sure that the other RPer(s) won't do inevitable things you don't want to happen to your team, you can post these below outlining what the other RPers can or cannot do, for example:

Assign my players yellow cards: yes/no
Assign my players red cards: yes/no
Godmod injuries: yes/no
Godmod scoring: yes/no
Godmod other events: yes/noThe last three permissions, godmodding, is the role playing unrealistic or unbelievable things happening. So if you want a more realistic experience for your team (and what we hopefully want in the games for the duration of the tournament), you can ask other RPers not to godmod in your matches. You can also add, leave, or remove any role permissions you want. It's your team, so we will let you dictate the way your team plays (as long as it is realistic).
Also, you can include what we call a "style modifier". This is a number between -5 and +5, which indicates if you are a defensive (leaning to negative numbers) or an offensive (leaning to positive numbers) team. However, this won't affect your chance of victory. If you also don't put one, you'll automatically get a neutral modifier (0.00), and that is just fine.

I've been asked multiple times when we're doing this, but I think, it's the best time we do this.
Welcome to the 2nd World Cup of Football for the TWP RP world of Esferos and its nations as we bring the most popular sport in the world right here in our forums! For those that have been participants of previous sports roleplay (the Rugby World Cups, the Summer Esferiads, among others), then you know there will be something like this. For those that have not, don't you worry!
To enter the 2nd World Cup of Football, just add a reply to this topic by saying "I want to sign up for the 2nd World Cup of Football", or anything along the lines there. Though, same with the RMB, we won't allow double posting (except for me to post my intentions in signing up
). You can always edit your reply at any given time how many times you want. Also, this thread is for signups and OOC (out of context) posts, like questions about the tournament. If you don't like asking questions here, you can ask them in #sports in our RP Discord server or message me there directly. The IC (in context) thread where we will be posting our nations' team information (players, kits, logo, anything related to such), roleplay (preparations, match day events), and results will be separate and shall have the link be announced in Discord or can be viewed here in our forums starting 11/6/2022.
Also, I will be scorinating this tournament, and once in a blue moon, we have already selected the host for this international sporting event (to be announced on 11/5/2022).

SpoilerSports rp is a special kind of roleplay where rather than the roleplayers deciding what happens, the results are generated first and then the stories are created by the players after the fact to fit the results. This means that the cardinal rule while rp'ing is don't contradict the provided scoreline.
Ah, but how is that scoreline created, you ask? With a special piece of software called a 'scorinator.' A scorinator uses random numbers to generate a realistic score for a sporting even, taking into account several factors. These factors usually are rank and roleplay. If the competitors have competed in the past and established before which teams are stronger, that can be reflected by assigning those teams a rank. The scorinator will then provide realistic results where the stronger team is more likely to win. On the other hand, teams can be given an rp bonus as well. RP bonus is a tool used to encourage people to roleplay in the competition. The user scorinating the competition will read rps and give a bonus to each team according to the roleplay it wrote, slightly boosting its performance in the scorinator. However, this doesn't mean that if you roleplay you will win, and you should always roleplay because it's fun, not because you want the bonus.
Results will be scorinated one matchday at a time to allow people to roleplay about each game. If you have any other questions about the whole thing works that I didn't address here, feel free to message me or ask in the thread.
