  1. Islamagna, Altana Region—21:30 International Atomic Time, 4th August 1422 It was a quiet night at one of the Giovannilandian Navy's many coast guard facilities. Located in the main island of the Isle Annovi group, some 81 nautical miles (150 km) away from the Andolian mainland, it served as an important central watchtower in the Darkesian Sea's waters, connecting Giovanniland's Auran and Andolian territories alongside many others across the Andolian coast. However, no matter how quiet it may be, staff are always watching. Klaudia Pinario Levini, one of the officers there, had just arrived to fulfill a night shift as the day shift personnel prepared to rest, and together with her were several other people. Suddenly, a siren starts sounding. Klaudia looks worried, rushing to the panels used to track any suspected movements across Giovannilandian waters. "Unknown ship just detected within the 12 Nm (22 km) limit of Giovannilandian territorial sea!", she noted. Another staff member, Amando Horatio Sousa, asked where it currently was, to which Klaudia replied, "Just off the western Andolian borders near the coastal city of Borioddo, some 135 Nm (250 km) away from this facility." Amando thought, "Hmm... western borders...", and noted, "I do have an idea of who it may be, although we can't be sure." Both of them, alongside other staff present, agreed that it would be best to attempt contacting the ship. Klaudia initiated contact, and soon the ship was to receive a request of identifying themselves. "I hope it's a friendly vessel in an accidental entry into our territorial seas...", she thought as the message was sent. Little did she know much more was to come...

We are just starting our Chess Report that happens every three days, in which we cover Matchday 2 of the 1422 Giovannilandian Chess Championship. Giovanni Amdo-Gyasso, the favorite in the match against Klara Luminara-Tenzino, won comfortably after their game saw Clara's queen captured by a bishop in an interesting piece sacrifice. Meanwhile, Markella Viator-Tamudio got his second draw of the tournament, this time against Giorgio Taresmino. Group B, the group of upsets yesterday, featured more of them today! Isidoro Artena-Santi surprised the spectators once more with an unlikely win, this time against Alba Vergilio-Silva, who now has two losses in a row. In the other match, Lavinia Pasquale-Arbone did not manage to win against Pietra Alledio despite an advantage of over 200 ELO points, and a draw had to suffice for the 1420 champion that was eliminated in the group stage in 1421. On the other hand, the matches in Groups C and D went as most people expected." "In Group E, Sergio Amorante-Aquilano started strong in the competition through a defeat of Laura Arboreto Amorante, whereas Giulio Punso-Lodago upset higher-ranked Maurikio Feligiano to maintain a strong performance in the first two days, putting his luck on a well thought-out defensive chess style that quietly awaits a chance to strike. As for the Group F, it looks like Vittor Nyima-Lyamo continues his strong performance, winning twice in a row whereas his opponent Edna Keler Tamara lost twice in a row. However, the most interesting news is that Raffella Quadrigaro, the highest-ranked player in the competition and 2nd place in the last tournament, could not manage to win against Adriano Atilio-Spurio despite a well fought game! A draw was seen by commenters as a weak start, and the multiple-time former champion is likely to need to step up her performance, as he faces current champion Guillermo Uryde-Amorino next round." After a brief pause Karlo continued: "Group G's Amanda Gilvano Valli continues her strong showing so far and promises to be one of the tournament's dark horses once more, as she defeated higher-ranked Oralino Kyenze Gormo. Last but not least, in Group H we saw Karlo Neurino-Sousa comfortably win against Lorentia Gavione, whereas Alba Santi-Abrenti drew her second game as well, this time against Rustio Kastellarbo-Abbia. Now let's see the placements!" Meanwhile in Groups B, D and E we have one player taking the lead, although still followed closely by others. Last but not least, groups F and G have seen one clear leader, with something in common that both of these players—Vittor Nyima-Lyamo and Amanda Gilvano Valli—aren't grandmasters so we certainly have an interesting situation worth keeping an eye on!" He concludes: "That's all for our Chess Report of the day. Matchday 3 happens during August 3rd and 4th, so stay tuned to watch the games live, including interesting matches between two Grandmasters of each group!"

"Starting by Group A, we have a win and a draw: Ottavia Zorteya comfortably won their game against Giorgio Taresmino with their use of their favorite opening Queen's Gambit. Meanwhile, in the drawn match between Markella Viator-Tamudio and Klara Luminara-Tenzino, we saw all pieces exchanged early as the players moved to a drawn endgame with only kings and pawns. Meanwhile, Group B had a big surprise when Lavanda Rosetta-Lyra lost against Isidoro Artena-Santi, despite having an advantage of over 200 ELO points. Group C also saw two wins happen, namely Gabriello Martio-Lampadio's expected win over Giordano Feragi featuring a queen sacrifice to checkmate, and Margerito Alboquerko's upset against Gepelle Gormo-Pasano after the latter made an endgame blunder." "Moving on to Group D, there we saw Gustavo Takeda, 5th place in the previous championship, easily defeat Hermione Rustikellio and possibly starting another excellent group stage campaign like last time. On the other hand, the game between Augustino Neuriani Kalburno and Markellina Olibrio-Augusti, with a small ELO rating difference, was one of the shortest ones in this round as the players agreed to draw. In Group E, more draws ensued, with an unexpected tie of Vittoriano Sevana and Giulio Punso-Lodago with a 300 ELO rating difference between them. As for the Group F, named the Group of Death by most spectators, defending champion Guillermo Uryde-Amorino started the tournament well by defeating Edna Keler Tamara, whereas Vittor Nyima-Lyamo edged out Adriano Atilio-Spurio after a zugzwang position in the endgame." "And there are two more groups! Group G saw a draw between Gallio Kervario Hortense and Vittor Urbano-Allamore happen after a three-fold repetition, whereas Amanda Gilvano Valli, the previous tournament's dark house, won against higher-ranked Paloma Arelliano-Altada and promises another good performance this year. Last but not least, Group H is the only group with three grandmasters: Sereno Belmonte, Alba Santi-Abrenti, and Karlo Neurino-Sousa. While Karlo enjoyed a bye during the first matchday, Sereno easily defeated his opponent while Alba only achieved a draw." Following the review, Karlo then presented the rankings: Group A P W D L Group B P W D L GM Ottavia Zorteya 1 1 0 0 CM Pietra Alledio 1 1 0 0 IM Markella Viator-Tamudio 1/2 0 1 0 CM Isidoro Artena-Santi 1 1 0 0 CM Klara Luminara-Tenzino 1/2 0 1 0 GM Lavinia Pasquale-Arbone 0 0 0 0 GM Giovanni Amdo-Gyasso 0 0 0 0 GM Lavanda Rosetta-Lyra 0 0 0 1 CM Giorgio Taresmino 0 0 0 1 IM Alba Vergilio-Silva 0 0 0 1 Group C P W D L Group D P W D L GM Gabriello Martio-Lampadio 1 1 0 0 GM Gustavo Takeda 1 1 0 0 IM Margerito Alboquerko 1 1 0 0 IM Augustino Neuriani Kalburno 1/2 0 1 0 GM Tiberina Vestrigio 0 0 0 0 IM Markellina Olibrio-Augusti 1/2 0 1 0 IM Gepelle Gormo-Pasano 0 0 0 1 GM Kyro Lartidio-Velanio 0 0 0 0 Giordano Feragi 0 0 0 1 Hermione Rustikellio 0 0 0 1 Group E P W D L Group F P W D L GM Vittoriano Sevana 1/2 0 1 0 GM Guillermo Uryde-Amorino 1 1 0 0 IM Maurikio Feligiano 1/2 0 1 0 IM Vittor Nyima-Lyamo 1 1 0 0 CM Laura Arboreto Amorante 1/2 0 1 0 GM Raffella Quadrigaro 0 0 0 0 Giulio Punso-Lodago 1/2 0 1 0 IM Adriano Atilio-Spurio 0 0 0 1 GM Sergio Amorante-Aquilano 0 0 0 0 Edna Keler Tamara 0 0 0 1 Group G P W D L Group H P W D L CM Amanda Gilvano Valli 1 1 0 0 GM Sereno Belmonte 1 1 0 0 GM Gallio Kervario Hortense 1/2 0 1 0 GM Alba Santi-Abrenti 1/2 0 1 0 Vittor Urbano-Allamore 1/2 0 1 0 CM Lorentia Gavione 1/2 0 1 0 GM Oralino Kyenze Gormo 0 0 0 0 GM Karlo Neurino-Sousa 0 0 0 0 IM Paloma Arelliano-Altada 0 0 0 1 Rustio Kastellarbo-Abbia 0 0 0 1 Karlo continued: "For those wondering about the points, a win in a chess match gives one point, a draw gives half a point, and a loss gives none. Furthermore, ties are broken by higher number of wins, lower number of losses, head-to-head score and finally ELO rating in this order. All the first three tiebreakers still result in a tie because only one match has been played, so players are listed by higher ELO rating. Now, that is all for today, and thank you for watching!"
  5. 1422 Giovannilandian Chess Championship The 1422 edition of the Giovannilandian Chess Championship has started! One of the largest and most famous tournaments in the entire country of Giovanniland, it takes place in Sonserina, capital of Varevenna Prefecture and also national center of chess, with thousands of fans coming to visit. Chess players from different regions of Giovanniland, plus the previous year's champion Guillermo Uryde-Amorino, will be organized in eight groups of five players each. Following that, the two best players of each group will advance to the Round of 16, beginning a four-matchday knock-out stage that ends with the long-awaited final and third place match. In the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Amore Gile Abrente visited the tournament venue and gave a short statement, similar to last year's one, and each player showed up carrying a flag of their region after the speech. After the opening ceremony, players went to their accommodations in order to have a rest and prepare for the first matches tomorrow. The recently-announced results for the group stage draw and tournament schedule are presented below. 6. Please note a few things before doing anything else: 1. You need to apply for a position in the roleplay map before roleplaying. Start by reading this thread to know what to do: 2. The Lounge isn't the forum for roleplay. I think you know where it is already, but please work on a Map Application first and wait to be accepted before posting there. 3. Nukes are off-limits on roleplay.

    Issues

According to the nation API I have answered 3540 issues over almost 3 years, so it would be hard to single one out. Among all issues, though, ones I particularly like are the Easter Eggs, about which our @Mediobogdumhas a great dispatch. The color one was the first I received (and a few days ago I received the 13th and last one), I chose the green option if I recall correctly.
  8. Another change has happened, this time ministry-level: can @Varaniusbe masked as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs?
  9. Thank you for the update, and congrats to Queen Constance II!
  10. Could @Wymondhambe demasked as Speaker and @Clarkovmasked, please?
