State Overview

Flussland is the source of the Dahme river, the longest continual river in Sekiya. Flussland is dominated with mountains in the south and vast plains in the north. Flussland is very sparsely populated and mainly filled with farms, mines and untouched land.

Küstenstaadt is a warm coastal state that includes the island of Warminsel. With the highest population of Sekiyan Blue Lobster in Esferos, the state's planned economy focuses on fishing and tourism. Küstenstaadt also produces the most power in Sekiya; with the largest hydroelectric plant in the country, as well as vast investments into harvesting tidal power.

Karlsburg is the literal outback of Sekiya. The state is very sparsely populated, with some biologists claiming that the Red Kangaroo outnumbers Sekiyans in the state. This makes it very difficult for farmers, as much of the state's land is unfarmable. Due to this, The Sekiyan Airforce Readiness Academy (SARA) is in Karlsburg, the main testing and training ground for the Republican Air Force, that covers a sizable part of the state near the northern border. Despite all this, recently surveys are being completed within the national park east of Züsch that seem to show a large deposit of rare metal, sparking a debate between those that wish to exploit the land and those that wish to protect it.

Westküste is a peninsular state with a large national park in the south to protect wildlife in the mangroves. 40% of Westküste residents live within the state capital, Fischendorf. Fischendorf contains the highly prestigious naval academy and is also the home base of the Republican Navy. On the northern coast with the Dahme Sea, the oldest lighthouse in Sekiya can be found at the northern most point on the peninsular.

Nordreich is home to the Capital of Sekiya, Neuersekitz. Nordreich is the most populated and developed state, as historically was the most powerful country in the reigion before the unification with Flussland, Nurland, Karlsburg and Küstenstaadt. Nordreich is the historical centre of Sekiya, however each state has its own distinct culture. Nordreich is home to the Republican Armed Forces Command, the headquarters of the military. Located in Nordreich is the Eider-Dahme canal, a megaproject completed 20 years prior linking the two rivers.

Nurland is the coldest and most southern state. It is home to several National Parks along the Nurland Mountain Range. Due to most the land either being too cold, protected or unworkable, Nurland's population mainly reside near the Eider river, where most of the state's cities are. Nurland is home to the elite Bergtruppen, the mountain branch of the Sekiyan Special Forces.

Südreich, finally, is the smallest state in Sekiya. Apart from being the happiest state, there is nothing special about Südreich. There are no secrets in Südreich. There are no strategic targets in Südreich. There are no strategic targets in Südreich. There are no strategic targets in Südrei.... [Static].... Lübbenau is the capital of Südreich, and home to the oldest building in Sekiya, the historic kaiser's palace that now serves as the state's government building. There are no secrets in Lübbenau. There are no strategic targets in Lübbenau. There are no strate.... [Static, cuts out]....

This concludes our foreigner-friendly overview of the Sekiyan states! Sekiya History Pt 1 - Unification War

What is now considered Sekiyan sovereign territory, was once several countries of similar cultures, each with different ambitions. However, as we all know, Sekiya today is a unified country. How did this happen? Let's find out.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1298.png.484703e9965c902a6f3599ade6e42db0.png

1299 - Pre-War Borders - Sekiya and Karlsburg both sought control over the Free cities of Starkfeste and Richtenstadt, as well as the island of Warminsel. On December 21st, 1299, Sekiya and Karlsburg signed a pact to split the land between themselves. Warminsel would go to Karlsburg and Starkfeste to Sekiya, with Richtenstadt being split in half.

Karlsburg and Sekiya have always been at odds, with frequent clashes along the borders. The news of the December 21st Agreement gave hope to further peace and stability in the region.

1300 - Occupation of the Free Cities - With Sekiya's kaiser passing away in his sleep, his daughter gained power as Sekiya's Kaiserin. The new Kaiserin saw the December 21st Agreement as blasphemy, she ordered the immidiate annexation of the free cities to Sekiya. An unprepared Karlsburg managed to secure Warminsel by defeating the Sekiyan vanguard fleet sent to capture the island, however the superior Sekiyan ground force took control of Starkfeste and Richtenstadt. Both countries started preparing for war...

1307 - Occupation of Northern Nursylvania - With tensions high between Sekiya and Karlsburg and neither being able to gain a significant advantage over the other, Sekiya moved to annex the ore rich north of Nursylvania. Lacking the capability to challenge the Sekiyan claim, Karlsburg was forced to accept the annexation. This gave Sekiya a huge bonus over Karlsburg, and year by year, Sekiya slowly started greatly surpassing Karlsburg.

1329 - Warminsel Skirmish/Beginning of the Unification War - on December 21st 1329, exactly 30 years after the December 21st Agreement, Sekiya sent a telegram to Karlsburg, demanding Karlsburg hand over Warminsel. Karlsburg promptly declined, and the Warminsel Skirmish erupted. The Karlsburg navy was obliterated, with less than 3 ships surviving the fight. With weak coastal defences and no navy left, Sekiya performed huge naval landings across the Karlsburg coast. Nursylvania and Flussland joined the fight against Sekiya, calling it their independence war.

1332 - End of the Unification War - 1332 saw the end of the Unification war, Sekiya emerging victorious. Sekiya now stood strong under the Kaiserin, ready to take their conquest outside of Sekiya to conquer foreign lands. Whilst tensions remained high in concurred cities, many rural citizens returned to their farms and put the war behind them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This concludes the Sekiyan Unification War arc! Next time, we will look into the Sekiyan Worker's Uprising. This factsheet was published by the Bureau of Culture, Sport & Tourism.
