The 1422 Giovannilandian Chess Championship
Giovanniland replied to Giovanniland's topic in Roleplay - How the West Was Won
"Hello there to all viewers in Giovanniland and elsewhere! Welcome to another edition of the Giovannilandian Chess Report! In this program, I will continue to present information about the Giovannilandian Chess Championship, namely the 3rd place match and the final. I'll comment on the final results and overall ranking of players." 3rd Place Match IM Vittore Nima-Liamo, 2604 (+22) 4 (2) - 4 (0) GM Lavanda Rosetta-Lira, 2609 (-22) Final GM Dezeno Purparboni, 2721 (-14) 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 GM Guillermo Urido-Amorino, 2707 (+14) "Here are the results from the two matches played yesterday and today! The final and 3rd place match were composed of eight games each. For the 3rd place we saw a match between International Master Vittore Nima-Liamo and Grandmaster Lavanda Rosetta-Lira. The match had a very close result—Nima-Liamo started leading by two wins, but his lead dwindled after four draws and two wins for Rosetta-Lira near the end that gave her some hope of winning the bronze medal. Unfortunately for Lavanda, she lost the two rapid tiebreaker matches and thus ended in fourth place. However that's her best finish so far, as she had only arrived in the quarter-finals at the 1419 and 1420 tournaments, and then didn't qualify in 1421. Third place was once more attained by a non-grandmaster after several years." Ottavio then commented on the other game: "The final was played between two Grandmasters, both regarded as fair contenders for the title. Dezeno Purparboni and Guillermo Urido-Amorino, with a difference of only 14 ELO points, managed to draw all of the first five matches! The spell of draws was then broken when Dezeno won the sixth match and had a fair chance of winning. However, he was outdone in the last two matches by the defending champion Guillermo!" "The defending champion therefore wins his second title in a row, currently unbeaten in the two Championship editions he's played. Dezeno, on the other hand, finishes on a better position than in the last few editions: his 1419, 1420, and 1421 performances ended with third, fourth, and sixth place respectively, being eliminated by fellow Grandmaster Karlo Neurino-Sousa last year. This is his second best performance, after winning the championship in 1411." He noted: "This time, we have additional information, such as ELO rating at the start and end of the tournament! Vittore Nima-Liamo had the greatest improvement, an incredible +128 points, and is likely to become a Grandmaster soon. Meanwhile, the highest decrease goes to Tiberia Artori, who despite this unfortunate record achieved a respectable 9th place. As for points in the competition, champion Guillermo Urido-Amorino scored highest with 7 points, whereas Edna Kelere Tamara scored lowest with half a point, although she shares that score with three others, and is only counted last due to ELO rating." "That's all for today, although the leaderboard is publicly available for anyone who wants to search it to find out about more specific records. Unfortunately, the end of the competition also means that our Chess Report has come to an end, but we will resume our normal program about sports in Giovanniland and the world, and soon cover other national championships of other sports. See you!" -
The 1422 Giovannilandian Chess Championship

"Hey there Giovanniland, and welcome to the latest edition of the Giovannilandian Chess Report! I am your main host Ottavio Volseno-Edrensi, and I'll continue to present information about the Giovannilandian Chess Championship until it finishes. Today we have some interesting information about the quarterfinals and semifinals that took place in recent days. I'll present the match results as usual for both of them!" GM Dezeno Purparboni, 2718 (+13) 3 - 0 CM Isidoro Andago Santi, 2400 (-13) IM Vittore Nima-Liamo, 2551 (+43) 2 (2) - 2 (0) GM Gustavo Takeda, 2656 (-43) GM Sergio Amorante-Aquilano, 2729 (-23) 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 GM Guillermo Urido-Amorino, 2651 (+23) GM Lavanda Rosetta-Lira, 2607 (+35) 2 (1 1/2) - 2 (1/2) GM Karlo Neurino-Sousa, 2723 (-35) "Here are the results of the four matches played as part of the quarterfinals!", announced Ottavio. "As a reminder, quarterfinals have a total of four classical games and then rapid game tiebreakers if a tie occurs. In the first side of the bracket, Dezeno Purparboni soundly defeated Isidoro Andago Santi, and there was also an exciting duel between Vittore Nima-Liamo and Gustavo Takeda! After two draws and two wins for each in the classical games, Nima-Liamo won the two tiebreakers and is now in the semifinals." The screen switched to the other results: "In the second side of the bracket, we see close results once more! Sergio Amorante-Aquilano and Guillermo Urido-Amorino had five draws in a row and many interesting moves during these, fit for a match between one of the highest-ranked players and the defending-champion. The sixth game, however, saw Amorante-Aquilano unfortunately fall for a trap in the middle game, thus costing him a rook and the overall game, eliminating him from the tourney. The fourth match also pitted two grandmasters against each other, this time Lavanda Rosetta-Lira and Karlo Neurino-Sousa. The two had to decide on tie breakers, and Lavanda defied expectations by winning, leaving the former champion Karlo unable to reclaim his title from his golden age years of 1408 to 1410. GM Dezeno Purparboni, 2731 (-10) 2 1/2 - 1 1/2 IM Vittore Nima-Liamo, 2594 (+10) GM Guillermo Urido-Amorino, 2674 (+33) 3 - 1 GM Lavanda Rosetta-Lira, 2642 (-33) "And now, here are the results from the two semifinal matches!" said Ottavio. "In the match featuring the only non-Grandmaster remaining in the competition, Vittore Nima-Liamo started strong by winning the first games, but Dezeno Purparboni then brought his opponent's surge to a halt by drawing the next game and winning the last two. Funnily enough, due to the close score and Vittore's lower rating, Dezeno actually lost rating points, though hopefully he can recover them soon." "In the other side of the bracket, a grandmaster duel between Guillermo Urido-Amorino and Lavanda Rosetta-Lira was played. Although the first two games were all draws, Guillermo built a lead on the later games, cementing his place on the final once more. He'll decide the championship title with fellow grandmaster Dezeno Purparboni, while Lavanda will play the 3rd place match against Vittore Nima-Liamo." Ottavio then presented the updated bracket: "Before the quarterfinals, we had six Grandmasters, one International Master, and one Candidate Master on the competition. This changed to two Grandmasters in the final, while one Grandmaster and one International Master fight for the third place. Once more we have three Grandmasters and one non-Grandmaster still playing, just like in the last championship." "Before I finish the report, let's have a quick trip down memory lane for each of the four players still playing! The first finalist, Dezeno Purparboni, had a strong campaign in the group stage, finishing first in Group A, and then beating notable opponents such as fellow grandmaster Sereno Belmonte and two dark horses, Isidoro Andago Santi and Vittore Nima-Liamo. Meanwhile, defending championship Guillermo Urido-Amorino had an interesting group stage, meeting strong players like Nima-Liamo and Raffella Quadrigaro, and afterwards sailing past other Grandmasters like Sergio Amorante-Aquilano through knockout stage." He closed the program by talking about the third-place candidates: "For the third-place match, we have International Master Vittore Nima-Liamo, a rising star in Giovannilandian chess, face off Lavanda Rosetta-Lira! The former, the only non-Grandmaster remaining, made his debut two years ago in the 1420 Championship, where he was eliminated by soon-to-be-champion Lavinia Pasquale-Arbone, but this championship he's defeated formidable opponents like the highest-rated player Raffella Quadrigaro and strong championship contender Gustavo Takeda. Meanwhile, Lavanda had a comeback in group stage, seeing as she lost the two first games but later managed to recover and to take a spot off the former champion Lavinia, as well as defeating strong opponents like Karlo Neurino-Sousa later on." -

"Hello there to all viewers in Giovanniland and elsewhere! Welcome to another edition of the Giovannilandian Chess Report! In this program, I will continue to present information about the Giovannilandian Chess Championship, and this is a special report since the first matches of the knockout phase happened on August 12th and 13th. I'll present the match results and then talk about the updated bracket and upcoming matches!" GM Dezeno Purparboni, 2693 (+25) 3 - 1 GM Sereno Belmonte, 2651 (-25) CM Isidoro Andago Santi, 2393 (+7) 2 (2) - 2 (1) CM Amanda Gilvano Trinelli, 2380 (-7) GM Tiberia Artori, 2708 (-41) 2 (1/2) - 2 (1 1/2) IM Vittore Nima-Liamo, 2510 (+41) GM Gustavo Takeda, 2648 (+8) 3 - 0 Iulio Punso-Lodago, 2333 (-8) GM Sergio Amorante-Aquilano, 2725 (+4) 2 1/2 - 1 1/2 GM Kiro Tarquinio, 2668 (-4) GM Guillermo Urido-Amorino, 2638 (+13) 3 1/2 - 1/2 IM Margerito de Alboquerko, 2477 (-13) GM Gallio Kervario Hortense, 2602 (-11) 2 (1/2) - 2 (1 1/2) GM Lavanda Rosetta-Lira, 2596 (+11) GM Karlo Neurino-Sousa, 2720 (+3) 2 1/2 - 1 1/2 GM Ottavia Zorteia, 2660 (-3) Ottavio appeared on stage: "Firstly I'll explain how the knockout stage works for all viewers, especially new ones that might not be aware, like we did last year. Unlike in the group stage, there are several games for each match, with four games for the round of 16. All starting games are of the classical variety and take longer, but if the total of points reached by both players is equal, the players then break the tie by playing two rapid games of faster time control. If they also draw, then more rapid games are played until one wins. If one of the players reaches a total of points that is impossible for the other to overcome in the four main games, the remaining ones will not be played." "Eight very interesting matches happened on the round of 16! Starting with the left side, we firstly had two Grandmasters, Dezeno Purparboni and Sereno Belmonte, fight for a quarterfinals spot, and the former won after a convincing performance of three wins and just one loss. Giovanni will now meet the winner of a duel of Candidate Masters, Isidoro Andago Santi and Amanda Gilvano Trinelli, both promising dark horses in the competition which fought until the very end, and decided the winner in the rapid tiebreaks. Unfortunately for Amanda, she won't able to repeat her former 4th place finish last year—Isidoro advances to the quarterfinals to meet one of the strongest Grandmasters of this championship." "Two more matches also happened on that side of the bracket. Grandmaster Tiberia Artori and International Master Vittore Nima-Liamo played great matches, with the defensive style of both proving hard to be broken in many games, which led to them drawing every time, until Vittore finally won on the second rapid match after a clever piece sacrifice. Last but not least, for Grandmaster Gustavo Takeda, it was easy to defeat Iulio Punso-Lodago. Now for the right side of the bracket, we start talking about a duel of very strong Grandmasters, Sergio Amorante-Aquilano and Kiro Tarquinio, which led to interesting matches with fierce attacks and gambits, and eventually Sergio managed to defeat his counterpart. He has a challenge ahead though because he will now meet defending champion Guillermo Urido-Amorino, who easily defeated Margerito de Alboquerko yesterday", Ottavio remarked. "Last but not least, the two other matches were similar, both pitting Grandmasters against each other. One of them had to be decided by tie breaks, namely the match between Gallio Kervario Hortense and Lavanda Rosetta-Lira, in which two classical games were won by each, but Lavanda had better ability to play in faster time controls. The other one, meanwhile, had Karlo Neurino-Sousa defeat Ottavia Zorteia, with Ottavia starting strong with a win but Karlo later winning twice a row and drawing the last match to solidify his quarterfinals spot." Ottavio continued: "Now we see the full bracket and the positions of the eight players that remain in the competition! In the round of 16, there were eleven Grandmasters, two International Masters, two Candidate Masters and one player yet to achieve a title. Then for the quarterfinals we have six Grandmasters, one International Master, and one Candidate Master. Their distributions in each place of the bracket also open up the possibility for all semifinalists to be Grandmasters. Matches to look forward to are Vittore Nima-Liamo vs. Gustavo Takeda, between one of the tournament's dark horses and a player with an unbroken win streak, and Sergio Amorante-Aquilano vs. Guillermo Urido-Amorino, a game between one of the highest rated players and the defending champion." -

"Good afternoon Giovanniland, welcome to another Chess Report! I am Ottavio Volseno-Edrensi and I'll present the match results and group standings for Matchday 5 of the Giovannilandian Chess Championship, commenting on which players have advanced to the second stage of the competition and which ones did not." Leaving the more interesting matches for last, we have Groups D, E, and G whose matches went more or less as expected and served to solidify the qualified players' standings. We also have the interesting case of Groups A and H, where two grandmasters Dezeno Purparboni and Sereno Belmonte failed to win against their respective opponents Markella Tamudio and Lorentia Gavioni, but nevertheless still advance while the two latter players are eliminated." "Moving on to the interesting results, in Group B the grandmaster Lavanda Rosetta-Lira soundly defeated Petra Alledio, continuing their surprising recovery after losing twice in a row at the start. Meanwhile, Lavinia Pasquale-Arbone unexpectedly lost to Alba Vergilio-Silva, and the other match's result then means that Lavinia has lost her qualifying spot to Lavanda! A similar situation also happened in Group D, whose Margerito de Alboquerko is now advancing after unexpectedly edging out Gabriello Martio-Lampadio." "Last but not least, we have Group F! One of its matches, Guillermo Urido-Amorino vs. Hadriano Firkelli, went as expected. But the other did not: Raffella Quadrigaro lost to Vittore Nima-Liamo despite being the highest ranked player in the tournament! Unfortunately for Raffella, she's shockingly been eliminated from the tournament, and you will see more about that in group stage rankings now." Looks like Groups A, D, and H have sent two grandmasters to the knockout stage each, while the others have one grandmaster and one non-grandmaster player qualified. Group B, for example, is an outlier because Candidate Master Isidoro Andago Santi qualified as first place at the expense of 2nd place Lavanda Rosetta-Lira, who barely made it in instead of Lavinia Pasquale-Arbone due to having more wins. The other four groups yet to be mentioned, however, feature a grandmaster at the top and another player as second place. For example, Group C's Margerito de Alboquerko has the exact same stats as Gepello Gormo-Pasano and even a lower rating, but was saved by the head-to-head record, as he won against Gepello on the first round. "Group E and G similarly feature other potential dark horses, namely Iulio Punso-Lodago and Amanda Gilvano Trinelli respectively, with the latter even leading her group for the most time until Gallio Kervario Hortense took her place. Last but not least, Group F's former first place Raffella Quadrigaro did not hold to her position, as both Guillermo Urido-Amorino and Vittore Nima-Liamo passed her. The multiple-time former champion and highest-rated player in the tournament is sadly eliminated, whereas the defending champion and a promising newcomer advance. This concludes the lineup of players that continue in the championship, so I'll show the bracket and then finish the report for today." -

"Hey there Giovanniland, it's time for another Chess Report! For example, Group A's Dezeno Purparboni is now qualified as he won against Giorgio Taresmino, while the two players yet to decide their place Ottavia Zorteia and Markella Tamudio have tied today. Meanwhile, Group B saw the biggest upset of the day when former champion Lavinia Pasquale-Arbone could not defeat Isidoro Andago Santi and settled for a draw—the only such score in the series of games between the highest and lowest ranked players of each group, as all other Grandmasters successfully won. In Group C, Tiberia Artori is surely qualified as she triumphs past the now-eliminated Iordano Hettori, whereas the match between Gabriello Martio-Lampadio and Gepello Gormo-Pasano had an interesting queen vs. rook and bishop endgame that Gepello ended up winning after a blunder by Gabriello, leaving the race for second place fairly open." "Group D saw two expected results, however the same couldn't be said for Group E—Vittoria Zeliano did not defeat Maurikio Feligiano despite having a higher rating, thus eliminating them both, whereas the two now-qualified players Sergio Amorante-Aquilano and Iulio Punso-Lodago fought for the first place, with Sergio winning. In Group F, where all eyes are cast upon for a reason I'll explain later, the match between Raffella Quadrigaro and Edna Kelere Tamara saw the largest point difference in the game, while in a very close match, Guillermo Urido-Amorino performed a great piece sacrifice to open a chain of pawns that had left the game closed before, edging past Vittore Nima-Liamo. Last but not least, in Group G and H all matches went as expected according to player ratings as you can see." In order to remind everyone, in this edition of Giovannilandian Chess Championship the top two of each group advance to the knock-out stage and in these groups we can see a number of different situations. For example, in Groups E, G, and H the two qualifying players are already decided, although there's a chance that they switch places. For Groups A and D we have one guaranteed player in each, Dezeno Purparboni and Gustavo Takeda respectively, but the second and third players will decide who gets the coveted spot on the knockout stage." "As for a more interesting situation, let's look at Groups B and C, whereas only one player has truly been mathematically eliminated! Group leaders Isidoro Andago Santi and Tiberia Artori are safe, but anyone from the second to the fourth place of each group could reasonably achieve a spot, to the detriment of the others. Special focus on Group B, where only one of the grandmasters Lavinia Pasquale-Arbone and Lavanda Rosetta-Lira will get to advance. Last but not least, Group F! We have three great players vying for the top two spots—former champion Raffella Quadrigaro, defending champion Guillermo Urido-Amorino, and aspiring newcomer Vittore Nima-Liamo! All of them have had interesting performances so far, and the catch is that none of them is guaranteed to qualify because only half a point separates them. Be sure to follow the matchday of Group F for some exciting happenings, and the other groups as well!" -

"Good afternoon Giovanniland! It's been three days since our last Chess Report, which means we are just starting another one today, in order to cover Matchday 3 of the Giovannilandian Chess Championship. I am your host Ottavio Volseno-Edrensi, and I'll present the match results and group standings for the games that happened during August 3rd and 4th. Let's start!" Dezeno Purparboni and Ottavia Zorteia had an interesting closed game with almost no mistakes on either side. Meanwhile, in Group B former champion Lavinia Pasquale-Arbone shows she's still strong even after being defeated on group stage last year, as she edged out fellow grandmaster Lavanda Rosetta-Lira, while Isidoro Andago Santi continues a strong showing, this time winning against Petra Alledio. Moving on to Group C, grandmasters Tiberia Artori and Gabriello Martio-Lampadio drew their match that ended in a queen vs. queen standoff, whereas Iordano Hettori stunned viewers after defeating Margerito de Alboquerko, coming back after two defeats on the first matchdays." "Next up we have Group D, where the duel of grandmasters Kiro Tarquinio and Gustavo Takeda ended in a win for the latter, who finished 5th place in the previous championship. Group E's grandmasters Sergio Amorante-Aquilano and Vittoria Zeliano faced off and the former had the upper hand in an interesting pawns-only endgame, while Laura Arboreto-Amoranti was unexpectedly defeated by Iulio Punso-Lodago, one of the tournament's dark horses as he tops his group. And in Group F, the game between multiple-time former champion Raffella Quadrigaro and defending champion Guillermo Urido-Amorino was certainly awaited! Guillermo, using his favorite Sicilian Defense, unfortunately could not defend against a well-planned infiltration from Raffella's pieces on his castled kingside, thus opening the door for a slow but deadly attack and checkmate." "And now, the two last groups! Group G's grandmaster match had an upset, as Oralino Kezeni Gormo lost to Gallio Kervario Hortense and must now win all remaining matches if he wants a chance at qualifying. Its other match saw Amanda Gilvano Trinelli cement her leading position as she soundly defeated Vittore Ugeno Kelestino. Group H saw Karlo Neurino-Sousa won against Sereno Belmonte, whereas Lorentia Gavioni and Rustio Kastellarbo-Abbia settled for a draw." In Group B, we see Isidoro Andago Santi on the lead and Lavinia Pasquale-Arbone and Petra Alledio as the main candidates for the other spot, whereas in Group D the trio of Gustavo Takeda, Augustino Neuriani, and Kiro Tarquinio all fight for the two spots." "As for Group E, Iulio Punso-Lodago and Sergio Amorante-Aquilano have fairly decided the group already, although perhaps Vittoria Zeliano could have an unlikely comeback. Group F, on the other hand, is similar to Group D in a way of having the three players of Vittore Nima-Liamo, Raffella Quadrigaro, and Guillermo Urido-Amorino fighting for qualification. Last but not least, the spot for Group G's leader Amanda Gilvano Trinelli looks fairly guaranteed already, whereas other players like Gallio Kervario Hortense, Vittore Ugeno Kelestino, Paloma Arelliano-Altada, or even last place Oralino Kezeni Gormo still have chances for the second one." -
Isula Magna, Altana Region—21:30 International Atomic Time, 4th August 1422 It was a quiet night at one of the Giovannilandian Navy's many coast guard facilities. Located in the main island of the Isle Annovi group, some 81 nautical miles (150 km) away from the Andolian mainland, it served as an important central watchtower in the Darkesian Sea's waters, connecting Giovanniland's Auran and Andolian territories alongside many others across the Andolian coast. However, no matter how quiet it may be, staff are always watching. Klaudia Pinario Oselli, one of the officers there, had just arrived to fulfill a night shift as the day shift personnel prepared to rest, and together with her were several other people. Suddenly, a siren starts sounding. Klaudia looks worried, rushing to the panels used to track any suspected movements across Giovannilandian waters. "Unknown ship just detected within the 12 Nm (22 km) limit of Giovannilandian territorial sea!", she noted. Another staff member, Amando Horatio Sousa, asked where it currently was, to which Klaudia replied, "Just off the western Andolian borders near the coastal city of Takore, some 135 Nm (250 km) away from this facility." Amando thought, "Hmm... western borders...", and noted, "I do have an idea of who it may be, although we can't be sure." Both of them, alongside other staff present, agreed that it would be best to attempt contacting the ship. Klaudia initiated contact, and soon the ship was to receive a request of identifying themselves. "I hope it's a friendly vessel in an accidental entry into our territorial seas...", she thought as the message was sent.

Dezeno Purparboni, the favorite in the match against Klara Lumina Tenzino, won comfortably after their game saw Clara's queen captured by a bishop in an interesting piece sacrifice. Meanwhile, Markella Tamudio got his second draw of the tournament, this time against Giorgio Taresmino. Group B, the group of upsets yesterday, featured more of them today! Isidoro Andago Santi surprised the spectators once more with an unlikely win, this time against Alba Vergilio-Silva, who now has two losses in a row. In the other match, Lavinia Pasquale-Arbone did not manage to win against Petra Alledio, and a draw had to suffice for the 1420 champion that was eliminated in the group stage in 1421. On the other hand, the matches in Groups C and D went as most people expected." "In Group E, Sergio Amorante-Aquilano started strong in the competition through a defeat of Laura Arboreto-Amoranti, whereas Iulio Punso-Lodago upset higher-ranked Maurikio Feligiano to maintain a strong performance in the first two days, putting his luck on a well thought-out defensive chess style that quietly awaits a chance to strike. As for the Group F, it looks like Vittore Nima-Liamo continues his strong performance, winning twice in a row whereas his opponent Edna Kelere Tamara lost twice in a row. However, the most interesting news is that Raffella Quadrigaro, the highest-ranked player in the competition and 2nd place in the last tournament, could not manage to win against Hadriano Firkelli despite a well fought game! A draw was seen by commenters as a weak start, and the multiple-time former champion is likely to need to step up her performance, as she faces current champion Guillermo Urido-Amorino next round." After a brief pause Ottavio continued: "Group G's Amanda Gilvano Trinelli continues her strong showing so far and promises to be one of the tournament's dark horses once more, as she defeated higher-ranked Oralino Kezeni Gormo. Last but not least, in Group H we saw Karlo Neurino-Sousa comfortably win against Lorentia Gavioni, whereas Alba Santi-Abrenti drew her second game as well, this time against Rustio Kastellarbo-Abbia. Last but not least, groups F and G have seen one clear leader, with something in common that both of these players—Vittore Nima-Liamo and Amanda Gilvano Trinelli—aren't grandmasters so we certainly have an interesting situation worth keeping an eye on!" "Starting by Group A, we have a win and a draw: Ottavia Zorteia comfortably won their game against Giorgio Taresmino with their use of their favorite opening Queen's Gambit. Meanwhile, in the drawn match between Markella Tamudio and Klara Lumina Tenzino, we saw all pieces exchanged early as the players moved to a drawn endgame with only kings and pawns. Meanwhile, Group B had a big surprise when Lavanda Rosetta-Lira lost against Isidoro Andago Santi, despite having an advantage of over 200 ELO points. Group C also saw two wins happen, namely Gabriello Martio-Lampadio's expected win over Iordano Hettori featuring a queen sacrifice to checkmate, and Margerito de Alboquerko's upset against Gepello Gormo-Pasano after the latter made an endgame blunder." "Moving on to Group D, there we saw Gustavo Takeda, 5th place in the previous championship, easily defeat Hermione Rustikellio and possibly starting another excellent group stage campaign like last time. On the other hand, the game between Augustino Neuriani and Martina Olibrio-Augusti, with a small ELO rating difference, was one of the shortest ones in this round as the players agreed to draw. In Group E, more draws ensued, with an unexpected tie of Vittoria Zeliano and Iulio Punso-Lodago with a 300 ELO rating difference between them. As for the Group F, named the Group of Death by most spectators, defending champion Guillermo Urido-Amorino started the tournament well by defeating Edna Kelere Tamara, whereas Vittore Nima-Liamo edged out Hadriano Firkelli after a zugzwang position in the endgame." "And there are two more groups! Group G saw a draw between Gallio Kervario Hortense and Vittore Ugeno Kelestino happen after a three-fold repetition, whereas Amanda Gilvano Trinelli, the previous tournament's dark house, won against higher-ranked Paloma Arelliano-Altada and promises another good performance this year. Last but not least, Group H is the only group with three grandmasters: Sereno Belmonte, Alba Santi-Abrenti, and Karlo Neurino-Sousa. While Karlo enjoyed a bye during the first matchday, Sereno easily defeated his opponent while Alba only achieved a draw." Chess players from different regions of Giovanniland, plus the previous year's champion Guillermo Urido-Amorino, will be organized in eight groups of five players each. Following that, the two best players of each group will advance to the Round of 16, beginning a four-matchday knock-out stage that ends with the long-awaited final and third place match. In the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Amore Gile Abrenti visited the tournament venue and gave a short statement, similar to last year's one, and each player showed up carrying a flag of their region after the speech. After the opening ceremony, players went to their accommodations in order to have a rest and prepare for the first matches tomorrow.

Please note a few things before doing anything else: 1. You need to apply for a position in the roleplay map before roleplaying. Start by reading this thread to know what to do: 2. The Lounge isn't the forum for roleplay. I think you know where it is already, but please work on a Map Application first and wait to be accepted before posting there. 3. Nukes are off-limits on roleplay.

According to the nation API I have answered 3540 issues over almost 3 years, so it would be hard to single one out. Among all issues, though, ones I particularly like are the Easter Eggs, about which our @Mediobogdumhas a great dispatch. The color one was the first I received (and a few days ago I received the 13th and last one), I chose the green option if I recall correctly.
