  1. Welcome! I'm Pest, nice to meet you. In what ways do you think you want to get involved?
  2. The ambassador corps thing is a terrible idea. While in charge of culture in Lazarus, you did an abysmal job at raising forum activity through RP. It never took off. What would you do to make it work this time. I proposed a very explicit modification to the legislature, outlined an entire military doctrine, and laid forth a vision on the community's use of this forum.
  3. [13:17] <Llamas> In addition, I believe the Prime Minister should be a Guardian. [13:31] <Llamas> TSP has begun to allow representation of on-site players to the off-site forums [13:32] <Llamas> And have shown themselves to be a friend of those who are not on the forums themselves. [13:32] <Llamas> They would make an excellent ally as such. [13:33] <Pestarzt> Right. [13:33] <Pestarzt> How about TRR? [13:33] <Llamas> Good ally [13:34] <Llamas> I'm personal friends with Unibot. Do you stand by these statements?
  4. "While delegate"? Overall, I'm concerned that you've just said "I will prioritize x" and "here's problem y, we're not TNP or TEP" while offering no plan or demonstration that you actually know how to translate your vision into results. You want to revive the ambassador corps. Why? And how will you make that happen? You seem to be covering up a lack of substance with burrito-themed humor, and it shows. Furthermore, you don't really show a real understanding of the facts of GP in this. Do you really believe ambassadors are the most important part of our foreign affairs? It's 2015, and ambassadors are an institution that were needed in a long-since-past time when the NS world was larger and harder to navigate.
  5. It's great to see you here TGG and we're very happy to help you learn the mechanics of NS. You should check out the starter guide listed at the top of the introductions area. The West Pacific is very proud that it lets its nations govern themselves as they please.
  6. Okay. I'll be publishing this tomorrow.
  7. Okay, screw it. I'm busy but I'll be distributing this shortly unless anyone else wants to add something. I don't particularly.
  8. The development of our civil service departments is the real goal.
  9. You going to get to this? Scotland is the last article to be written. This has gone on longer than I'd like and I'd like to actually distribute something soon.
  10. The Month in Important Assembly Affairs After much debate, the duties of the Prime Minister's office are expected to adopted by the regional Speaker. The Speaker's name is then expected to be changed to "Prime Minister". The whole affair is quite backwards. Elegarth has re-elected to the position of Speaker. Llamas has proposed the Executive Council Act before the Assembly. If passed, the resolution will create an official cabinet consisting of a Prime Minister and Officers of Foreign Affairs, World Assembly Affairs, Community Affairs, and Home Affairs. The goal is to legally formalize the current civil service system. The Assembly intends to vote on a repeal of the Civil Code, citing the bill of rights as rendering it redundant. Westwind has proposed reverting the name of The West Pacific Department of Defense to TWPAF, citing the lingering popularity of the "TWPAF" brand. The Assembly created the DoD earlier this year by putting the military and intelligence organs of the government under the purview of the same director. WIP, with experimental new style. The Assembly created the DoD earlier this year by putting the military and intelligence organs of the government under the purview of the same director. Welcome to the Front Page of TWP, Reddit! As many have noticed, the feeders and the NS world at large have reached their highest mark in the last decade (yes, 2005 was ten years ago!) thanks to what, as it turns out, has largely been an influx from readers of the sub-reddit r/internetisbeautiful (http://www.reddit.com/r/InternetIsBeautiful/comments/2ymi1h/nationstates_a_website_that_lets_you_create_your/). The West Pacific has been pleased to welcome redditors to the community and has taken a proactive approach to naturalizing them onto the game via the RMB. New players from Reddit who have been contributing to the RMB include Medivh and Small Jersey. We welcome them and everyone else who has joined during these interesting times. Except, of course, for those nations who were booted for their affiliations with darker parts of the internet, or just generally inappropriate nation fields: 6 hours ago: Palatomia was ejected from The West Pacific by Darkesia. 20 hours ago: Scrotalnation was ejected from The West Pacific by Darkesia. 1 day 2 hours ago: Booby-ia was ejected from The West Pacific by Darkesia. 1 day 6 hours ago: Pon Pon Wei Wei Wei was ejected and banned from The West Pacific by Darkesia. 1 day 19 hours ago: Shiethole was ejected from The West Pacific by Darkesia. 2 days ago: Buttscratchistan was ejected from The West Pacific by Darkesia. 2 days 1 hour ago: Taxionius was ejected and banned from The West Pacific by Darkesia. 2 days 1 hour ago: SenorDelgado was ejected and banned from The West Pacific by Darkesia. Then again, a little exercising of the ban-button never hurt anybody. Opinion: Why We Need the Redditors by United RussoAsia What with the enormous influx of new nations from reddit and elsewhere and a bunch of negativity over the ones determined to cause trouble, I decided to assemble an small article on why we need the redditors. We can split the 4 million+ nations that nationstates has hosted into groups: -Those that make a nation and never sign in again -Those that sign in a couple times, then stop finding time for it and never come back -Those that are hell-bent on trying to make everyone miserable -Those that enjoy the game and make it a part of their day -Those that participate in the community There isn't much we can do about the first three groups. The second to last group might eventually join the last group however. The thing is, it's the last group is what makes this game a great game. Sadly, for every 500 or so nations, we probably only get 1 or 2 of the last group. With a larger group of incoming nations, hopefully we get more of the nations that contribute to the community. If we get enough of these nations, they will greatly increase the value of our community by providing staff for military and political positions, writers for papers, friendly faces for the RMB, and nations willing to better the experience of their peers and themselves however they can. That said, welcome redditors, and I hope you come to enjoy this game as much as I do.
  11. Last 24 hours until I'm writing it myself.
  12. Hey! We'd love to see one or two more old names, too, y'know.
  13. Kraketopia's contribution will be the big final component. If it doesn't come in soon, I'll write it myself and we'll go to publication.
  14. Great! Want to take the legislative/assembly happenings piece?
  15. Don't be! You're doing everything right so far. The hardest thing is to find your way to the forum and show initiative. It'll be rewarded, as it should be.
  16. Pretty good. I added it to the update untouched, because it's your first shot at this and I think the effort is great. So you can learn for next time, check out how we've written updates in the past. Updates have a very specific style of writing and reading them over will help you get a feel for that style! Keep up the good work.
  17. If you label it this, it can't be that.

    1. Llamas

      Llamas

But what if I lied when I labeled it this?

      I label this comment useful

I wish you could like comments.

  18. I feel like the title of Speaker should be changed to "Prime Minister and Speaker" or something if we're going to do this. It's weird for it to still be Speaker, what with its new purview.
  19. OK. Please be sure to post your final additions so I know what exactly to add to the master post.
  20. Thanks! I think the length is good though. I generally strive for brevity with updates, since NS'ers have short attention spans and I don't write unless I'm read.
  21. This debate is getting cloggy. I'd say start a new thread for that step of the process, Llamas. I think we're all confused at the moment.
