Reçueçn
OOC Thread Welcome to the first ever edition of WPCAA's West Pacific College Football! This is where the magic happens. In this thread, you will post your rosters, roleplay your teams, and tell the stories of your victories on the gridiron. This got really long, so I’m gonna put a TL;DR right up here: TL;DR: You can post your RPs in this thread. Find the schedule and a guide to creating a roster below, as well as a little information from me on how I’m organizing things. This is the RP thread. All posts here (with the exception of WPCAA announcements) should be made IN CHARACTER. Twenty-eight teams have entered into TWP’s college football league, eager to test their mettle against their neighbors. Those teams have been sorted into four conferences, names for the four continents of TWP: Polaris, Doll Guldur, Aura, and Andolia. Not all teams in each conference come from the continent it is named for, with the exception of the Polarii Conference (Polaris showed up for football, y’all). There are in fact so many Polarii entrants, that they couldn’t all fit into the Polarii Conference. So with that exception, every nation has a team in its continent’s conference. Because I think it will be more interesting to play against teams from different countries, no nation has teams in the same conference. This means you will all be playing against teams from multiple continents, as well as teams from nations not yet on the map. Below are the conference assignments, with teams ordered arbitrarily. Given that there will be fourteen gamedays in the season, I will try to post results three times a week. I will post a cutoff in this thread before I calculate results so that it is clear which RPs are counted when. If things go smoothly, hopefully everything will fall into a regular schedule, but I don’t know everything I’ll be doing this month, so I will not be committing to any times or dates as of yet. You may now post rosters and RPs in this thread. The first results cutoff will be Monday, June 3. This will give you all a little extra time to post your rosters, as well as your first RP if you like and will allow me to be away for a week to be in my friend’s wedding. Rosters Rosters are an important aspect of sports roleplay, for a couple reasons. If you only make one post the entire season, it should be your roster. Here’s why: 1. Rosters let your opponents know who they’re facing. This makes things more fun for everybody, increases realism and immersion, and lets them RP better. 2. In this competition, a degrading RP bonus is used, but rosters are exempt. That means the more you RP, the more likely you are to perform better, but while older rps won’t count as much towards the bonus, your roster will keep its value throughout the competition. A good roster can give you a sizable bonus that will help you out throughout the whole competition. 3. Rosters are your way of letting us know about you. Teams will be coming to play in your stadiums over the course of the season. You don’t only have to talk about your team in your roster post, you can also describe your country and let visitors know what to expect. Do you have a factbook? Great! Lots of that info might fit well in a roster post. 4. Rosters are where you post your RP permissions. RP permissions are a tool that we use to make sure that roleplay is fair and everybody can get along. More info on these lower down. So what should you put in your roster? Well, your starting XI, to kick things off. Let people know who they’ll be seeing on the field. Go ahead and tell us about who your players are, if you like. From there, you can build outwards: you can say who your team’s substitutes and reserves are, show off a team or school logo, talk about your school, describe your stadium, or describe the culture and geography of your country. Play style, team formation, tactics, and your team’s managerial staff are also great things to include. The only thing a roster should not be is anything narrative: it is written in a more encyclopedic style. RP Permissions So what are RP permissions? They are a set of guidelines you establish to let people know what you are okay with happening in their roleplays. Your players will be featured in other people’s RPs, after all, so if you want to control how people write about your characters, this is how you can do that. By filling out your RP permissions, those with whom you are RPing know what boundaries to adhere to when creating their roleplays. Below is a sample RP permission box. Yours can look a little different, it’s up to you. RP Permissions Choose my scorers: Y/N Choose my scoring events: Y/N Godmod scoring events: Y/N RP injuries to my players: Y/N Godmod Injuries to my players: Y/N Give Penalties to my players: Y/N Godmod other events: Y/N Style Modifier: Y/N Time to RP! With the opening of this thread, you can finally start to RP for your teams! Obviously, you won’t have any results to RP about until the first cutoff, but you can write about anything you like until then. RPs don’t have to be written only about your team’s performance on the field—any IC post is fine. I will give bonuses to those who RP, but don’t worry about that: if you don’t want to, you don’t have to, and you should be writing to tell the story you want to tell and most importantly, to have fun. The second, and only other rule, is that you must respect the posted scorelines and your opponents’ RP permissions in your RPs. Other than that, your imagination is the limit! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with! Good luck to all of you! Podium, Bran Astor, Craiolia and 1 other 2

Reçueçn
The Geneva Eagles, as they are usually called in English, refer to themselves in French (the language most of the school's students speak) as "les Aigles." They represent L’Institut Privé de Genève, a liberal arts university originally founded in the fifteenth century as a religious institution—one might have taken the hint from the name of the team’s stadium, ‘Reformation Field.’ The letters on the book on the school’s seal stand for "Cor meum tibi offero, Domine, prompte et sincere,” which is the school’s motto. On the gridiron, the school has a fairly offensive style of play; most aspiring athletes in the nation would turn to soccer, rather than American football, as their pastime, so those who do wind up in the sport are typically looking for a rough game in the first. Place. The school’s chief rival is the Universität Zimmerich, a school that hails from the Germanophone part of the country. The multi-lingual nature of Reçueçn, which is usually not a cause for strife, is often brought up in a sporting context as a cause for rivalry, and these two schools are no exception. The fact that they are the top two football schools in the nation means that their faceoffs are always bitter. Key players: Look out for Tom Foulon, the Eagles’ star quarterback. He began starting for Geneva as a sophomore, and has shown much promise. He is well protected by twins Jean and Damien Berthier. Aurélien Morel has also had a meteoric rise, and is starting for the team although only a first-year student. For their first season in WPCAA DI, they’ve been sorted into a different division than the Eagles, which means that they’ll have to work out their rage drubbing someone else instead for a change. Zimmerich’s fans are known to be trouble—tailgates get rowdy and the field at their home stadium, Deutch & Pérol, has been rushed countless times, whether after a win or a loss. Players to watch: Wide receiver Wolfgang Hahn will give viewers their fair share of entertainment with his sheer athletic prowess alone—not only is he a freshman, but he was recruited by UZ a year before he was supposed to have finished high school, making him the youngest College Football player in Reçueçn. He’s had some beautiful catches in practice, but now it’s time to see if he can do it on the field as well. Fujai
You can find a one page travel guide for Fujai here. American Football in Fujai American football is played only at the largest universities in Fujai, with association football (soccer) and hockey being much more widely played. Because of this, most American football teams play in stadiums built for association football. The cold climate of Fujai necessitates that these stadiums use artificial grass and are often covered or have retractable roofs. Fujai has a sporting culture that prefers standing to sitting (Fujaian winters can get very cold when sitting), so most stadiums include a large amount of standing room. Collegiate sports in Fujai are mostly attended by students and are usually much smaller than professional stadiums. Universitetet i Keiserholde About the University Universitetet i Keiserholde, commonly called UKeiserholde, is the largest, oldest, and most prestigious university in Fujai, with a student population of nearly 47,000. Its main campus is located in the capital city of Keiserholde, centered around Brugnedalen (Fern Valley) on the edge of the city center. While UKeiserholde is the oldest university in Fujai, it is far from stuck in the past as other ancient universities are; it takes great pains to remain a leader in Fujaian research and culture, keeping a positive image among Fujaians. UKeiserholde’s sports teams are referred to as the Sólrúner, named after one of the two founding queens of Fujai, Sólrún. The Sólrúner tend to play rather defensively across sports. The university’s main stadium is Brugnedalen Stadion, with a normal capacity of 29,000, and 16,000 when in all-seater format. Players to watch Fourth year wide receiver Jorun Soland, who has been first captain the past two years. Third year linebacker Kjartan Bek, who recently transferred from Frøsskrånings Universitet in Fujai’s northern tundra. Second year star kicker Sjarna Krogstad, who can, allegedly, kick a football clear across the Tretønna Bridge in Keiserholde. Sundet and UKeiserholde have a long and storied rivalry, as they represent the two largest regions of Fujai. Sundet is located in Strafsund, Fujai’s second largest city, and is a major institution of the Sudvalla region. The university’s campus, housing nearly 40,000 students, is on the shores of Gråsundet, from which the university received its name. Sundet is a symbol of the strong regional identity of Sudvalla. Sundet’s sports teams are known as the Fjolett, after Sudvalla’s symbol, the violet. Contrary to UKeiserholde, Sundet tends to play an offensive game. The Fjolett play their games in Tolasson Stadion, with a normal capacity of 22,000, and 13,000 when in all-seater format. Players to Watch Fourth year star quarterback Kjersti Tanberg, one of the best players, amateur or professional in all of Fujai. Eirin Hammer, fourth year tackle and first captain. Sigmund Wolff, fourth year wide receiver, a Reçueçian going to school in Fujai, with the fastest feet in the land. ete74
The people of Eranshia are mixed about the results of todays games. Fans of the Royal Academy of Eranshia rejoice as they see their team defeat Basric National in the first game of the season. The Royal Family of Evaans said to personally come to the next game to see their sons and nephews play. The bars near RAE's campus were spilling out into the streets with celebrations for the Crowns. It is said that many of the lords and ladies of Eranshia threw many fancy dress parties in honor of many of their alma mater. The split comes in the outcome of the Eranshia Parliamentary University Green Drakes game against Armed Forces University. Fans were not happy to see the school of democracy go down in round one especially after the teams victory over the Royal Academy in the Kingdom Cup (the national football tournament in Eranshia). John Smith, the quarter back at EPU said the loss was due "overconfidence and underestimating their opponents" in an interview with ENN. Hopefully things turn out better for the Green Drakes. The people of Eranshia, Crown and Gold Drake, can agree on one thing: that they wish to see at least one Eranshian school come out on top in the WPCAA. Reçueçn
Strafsund, Fujai--To the disappointment of its fans, Universität Zimmerich's season began with an away game. Not just anywhere, either--the flight to Fujai makes the pair of matches the Climbers are set to play their the second furthest from home, falling only behind their trip to Craiolia out east, which isn't scheduled for another four weeks. The Fjolett also bear the distinction of being the only team in the Climbers' conference not on mainland Polaris--instead, of course, being located on the island of Fujai to the north. As a consequence, few Reçuecian fans were able to make the trip down to Strafsund to watch Zimmerich kick things off. The team, of course, made the trek up north, to find that temperatures are already dipping there this time of year. The Climbers, however, demonstrated that either the nippy atmosphere didn't bother them, or at least they were used to such weather from Reçueçn's alpine climate, starting their season off strong with a bruising 17-10 victory over the Fjolett. The fans watching at home were kept in suspense throughout the first half of the game, however, as scoring alternated back and forth until the Climbers' quarterback, Horst Scholz, got a touchdown late in the fourth quarter with a QB sneak from the one-yard line. The Climbers' first touchdown came half-way through the first quarter when Wolfgang Hahn, Universität Zimmerich's freshman wide receiver, caught a long ball from Scholz and made good a 34 yard run to the end zone. Another touchdown from Senior Benjamin Horn, fifteen minutes later, put Zimmerich well ahead. Ralph Herr, a freshman, made good all three points after touchdown, along with a 27 yard field goal in the third quarter, and one from 32 yards in the second. At fourth and twelve, the Climbers were left with a field goal as their best hope of easing the pressure applied by Univeritetet avf Sundet, who had equalized with a field goal of their own after a touchdown in the second quarter. By the end of the game however, the Climbers had solidified their lead, cementing their victory with Scholz's drive with a minute and a half left. Our reporters caught up with Horst Scholz and Otto Heinrich after the game, two of Zimmerich's seniors, who were hanging out joking around with two players from the Fujar team, Eirin Hammer and Sigmund Wolff. "It was a great game," said Heinrich, "and it was a lot of fun just going out there, playing our best game, and trying for our best result. Obviously we led the whole game, but I think with practice we should be able to push through some more TDs so we're not worried about them equalizing with us late in the fourth." There had indeed appeared to be more tension between the teams before and throughout the game, but with the win assured, the Reçuecians were able to ease up a little and talk with the Fujar players afterwards without too much awkwardness. Scholz especially seemed keen to get to know Wolff, a Reçuecian national studying and playing at Universitetet avf Sundet. "This one right here was the biggest threat," Scholz said, grabbing Wolff around the shoulders and pointing at them for the camera, grinning wide. "You knew it was going to be another Reçuecian that gave us trouble, we're a league apart." It wasn't quite clear if the Fujar players were in the same jovial mood as the Reçuecians after their defeat, but the Zimmerich players didn't seem to let it bother them, joking around. As they headed back to their locker room, one called over his shoulder: "Same thing at the end of the season?"
Aelitia
Tamaric University of Clarendon awarded Phillip Durr with a 10-year contract worth a maximum $93 million on Friday, the richest contract ever for a coach in the Astorian College Football Association. This contract includes substantial bonuses for top conference placing The previous high was an five-year, $52 million deal for Basric National's Alexander Faber last season. “My family and I are incredibly grateful and humbled by the commitment the Tamaric University has made to me, and our football program at Clarendon” the 43-year-old Durr said in a statement, translated from the original Astorian. “With this contract, we make a collective statement that we intend to continue pursuing championships and developing out student-athletes for years to come.” The Crusaders are coming off a strong performance in the ACFA preseason, capped by a dominant 44-16 win over St.Aiaden. The deal calls for a $5 million buyout should Durr leave in the first two years of the deal for another school — $8 million if that school is Basric National. The Tamaric University board of trustees-esquire approved the contract.

HankTheTank87
Ozorus, Crandolus - The University of Ozorus Ocelots started the season strong, defeating Tamaric University of Clarendon, 13 to nothing. The coach of the Ocelots, Henry Donahue, has received tremendous support from the community as he deals with Cerebral Palsy. He is the first coach of a Football team in the WPCAA with a physical disability. In an interview with The Crandolus Leader, he said that he is “extremely grateful for the support” and “hopes to see the Ocelots win the first season on the WPCAA.” He also addressed a rumor that claims that he is the Prime Minister of Crandolus. He was noted as saying that “it’s not too far fetched of a claim.”
Aelitia
BUCKS CLAIM FIRST WIN IN ANDOLIAN CONFERENCECURRENTLY SECOND IN RANK Over the past week, the Bucks have been knee-deep in the season! Playing in the Andolian Conference for the first time, the Bucks got off to a slow start against the Crowns from the Royal Academy of Eranshia losing 0-17. The last game night was a highly anticipated match at Moontown Stadium against the North Scootle National Institute Moon Hawks. It turned out to be a clear night, and boasted a fair bit of alumni support despite the distance! Notably, energy magnate Julian Rickard was there wearing colours. The game started off great, the Bucks easily blocking and denying the more aggressive play style of the Moon Hawks. At half-time, the score was 21-0 for the Bucks. The Moon Hawks must have rallied in the third quarter, and nearly scored a touchdown but was intercepted by Nikolaos Stokvis. The final score was 44-0 for the Bucks. The next game is against the Wolfpack of Cangham University.
Reçueçn
Deutch & Pérol Stadium, Zimmerich, Reçueçn--The fans were excited this past Saturday for the Climbers' first home game, coming out in droves to a sold out match. They were rewarded, perhaps not with a victory, but with an incredibly entertaining football game. The Climbers drew the Ocelots on 33 points, forced to fight tooth and nail throughout the entire match and never falling into the same stride as their previous game, confident in the knowledge of victory. Although the season is hardly started, a couple Reçuecian sports analysts are already predicting that this will be one of the most exciting games of the entire year. Each time a team took the lead, it was follwed by the other team equalizing or pulling ahead. Throughout the game, the cameras showed the faces of the fans in the stadium, gripped with suspense and ont the edge of their seats. So far this game is the only tie in the WPCAA's entire first division, and we'll see how long that lasts. The game gave the entire team a chance to shine--66 total points scored meant both offense and defense were busy throughout. In an interview after the game, quarterback Horst Scholz said, "I think we played well, but obviously we couldn't get the result we wanted. I think we ran the right plays, and did them well, we might just need a bit more fitness training to really put ourselves up and over the other teams in the conference and totally dominate. But I've also seen the work the boys are putting in daily and I'm confident that we'll only be performing better and better from here on out, and already in the top half of the conference, I think that's really promising." Fujai
DU-UKH, UUK – Keiserholde, Fujai – Hey folks, Berit here coming to you from DU-UKH, Den Duker. Four games have been played in the newly organized WPCAA university gridiron competition. The two Fujaian teams in the conference are acquitting themselves quite well. Fujai’s home field advantage has been well at play after a cold snap brought highs down to 3° Celcius across Stadenland and Sudvalla the past week—three quarters of all games in the country have been wins for the Fujaian side. UKeiserholde’s Sólrúner are at the top of the Auran Conference, with four wins, no losses, and the second highest point differential in the entire league. Their games so far have been against Encrissa Capital University (25-7), Karl Marx University (44-0), National University of Velyka Èthnos (43-0), and Badgerrot State (25-15). Next week the Sólrúner are on bye for a much needed rest and to catch up on their studies. Sundet’s Fjolett is sitting at third in the Polarii Conference behind Universität Zimmerich and Tamaric University of Clarendon. So far they’ve racked up two wins against the University of Ozorus (54-12) and the University of Saint Andreisburg (19-7), and only one loss against the conference leader, Universität Zimmerich (10-27). Zimmerich also has the highest PD in the entire league. Sundet still has plenty of work left, but they’re doing Sudvalla proud! That’s all for today’s gridiron recap, stay tuned for the latest university curling results after this quick instrumental break.

Head coach James Bradley, disappointed of the season this far, decided to replace kicker Nate Wesley for 2nd string Dominic Yrda, safety Clark Mark for Moore Quincy, and halfback Bob Gurquist for Hilman Freegram.
