  1. Found the issue, you didn't close one of your [ nation ] tags (Servus Domini) and having the extra open tag was causing it to do some pretty neat duplication loops.
  2. Wow, you managed to cause it to loop somehow... I'm trying to figure out why it's bringing up the old data....because you certainly don't have that much data in your post...it's got to be something in the forum's Cache but so far I haven't been able to clear it.
  3. I wasn't thrilled with that either...but now all the browsers are doing it...I mean Chrome is already at 50.x
  4. I'm still using Firefox. Disliked Chrome's data mining "features", so stopped using that. Although I do use a version of Chrome called SRWare Iron, which is Chrome without all the Google update/call home features. Works well enough, but I mainly just use that for testing websites.
  5. VPN Clients are the devil. I always hated dealing with the Nortel one I had to use to get in remotely at Convergys. I love Microsoft's new Direct Access, but don't have it setup here yet...
  6. I didn't go to University...just College (I know that term gets a bit convoluted in the US, but here University is usually 4 year degrees, while College is more Technical/Hands On vs Theory and 2 year diplomas. I took Computer Network Technician at the Lethbridge College back in 99-2000, graduated just after the Dotcom Bubble burst...was fun trying to find a computer job when Nortel was laying off tens of thousands of workers in my backyard here in Alberta. Ended up getting a few contracts at the College...till they had a $4 Million deficit and just told all their contract employees to fuck off. unemployed for a year...then Convergys opened a call centre here...did the whole phone thing for 6 months, moved up to tier 2 agent job...then into the IT Dept at Convergys for 5 years. Got out 1 week, almost to the hour before they announced the closure of the Kamloops centre (I moved around year 3.5 as the Lethbridge centre had already closed). And now I'm a government peon working for the local Catholic School board. Currently we've got 5 techs, and soon to be 6...looking forward to my title changing to Network Analyst soon...but I'm not holding my breath thanks to our 10 Billion dollar deficit (Province) this year...probably no new money for a while. Sorry...that was a bit more than I had set out to type... Interesting to hear Convergys still exists to some degree....before I left they were in the process of being bought up by some Hedge fund that was rather well known for buying companies and then selling them off piece by piece for a profit.
  7. I have not as of yet... I let the guys at my purchasing consortium do that since they offer it as a service, I just drop the laptop off and they get it fixed. I do deal with Dell's Warranty once in a while, but usually server stuff. Although I don't think I've had to call that in like a year now either...why can I not find some real wood to knock on when i say stuff like that. I do remember when I worked for Convergys we did have a centre in....Edmonton I think that was working an HP Customer Support contract, but I'm pretty sure it was consumer level hardware support rather than Buisness. I do not miss that company at all (Converygs). Much better just working for the local School Division. I miss Windows 7 at times...but we're moving most of the district to Windows 10 this summer. Save some of the older hardware. Windows 10 refuses to install on our Optiplex 760's...I can't see any reason it wouldn't work aside from maybe a BIOS needing to upgade thing but whatever, I needed an Excuse to leave those ones alone. They're old but still work. I do like the EliteBooks, but they're a bit out of our budget range here. We have to make our dollars (Canadian ones at that) strech. The ones we brought in were the ProBook 430 G2. I've been pretty happy with them. Batteries are easy to replace and so on, so none of that having to completely disassemble the whole thing like the Toshiba's we brought in the year before just to change the bloody battery. At home I build my own Desktop...I just can't bring myself to buy anything pre-assembled. Plus I love my Lian Li cases.
  8. ! Run, it's infected someone! Underneath it's all the same hardware these days, so when you buy an Apple you're paying for the design and name as well. Personally I am still a Windows guy for my workstations/laptops, but most of my servers when I have a choice are Linux (usually Ubuntu Server these days). If you're going for an HP, I would have a look at their Business lineup rather than their consumer if you can...the HP ProBooks (yeah, I know, basically rifting off the Mac Book name) are quite good...we brought in about 400 of them last year at my office and I've only had to do warranty on maybe 4 of them... and so far only one kid has managed to actually damage the case so bad that we had to order new parts, so they seem fairly durable. And they're light weight. Personally I'm a sucker for the Dell XPS 15 that they showed off this year, but I'm not in the market for a new laptop for a while...plus I don't think the School Board is going to buy me a top end model like that without some questions....... lol
  9. Just so people are aware, I've seen a huge increase in the number of IPs harvesting html data from the site in the last few days. Some are listed on blacklists for being "Website Harvesters" so it's completely possible that they may try setting up some form of phishing site related to our forums. I and the other Admins will never ask for your password in an email, and if you do get a message claiming to be from me or anyone else here at TWP Forums, make sure that any links they send you to are actually going to www.westpacific.org or westpacific.org. Accept no substitute!
  10. Alberta was a bit unique in that it was only rated 14A here...that's kinda like PG-14...
  11. The nice thing about the plot from what I've seen heard on Warcraft is it's based on the first Warcraft game (not WoW). From the trailers it looks like it's when the Orcs first arrived on Azeroth. I'm not holding my breath on that one, but they seem to at least have the potential makings for a fun movie. Deadpool was great, so glad I went and saw that one. Don't really see any other movies I'm absolutely just waiting to see...we'll have to wait and see what happens. Oh, almost forgot: the new X-Men.
  12. Registration Emails should start going through again. In testing I was able to see Gmail mark the registration email as SPAM, so people have to make sure to check their spam folders. I still can't actually download emails sent to my westpacific accounts, but that shouldn't affect outbound email from the forums.
  13. There will likely be some downtime this weekend as I continue to try and figure out what is causing all our forum woes... No exact time frames, so bare with me.
  14. Figured it wasn't an obvious place for someone just seeing the problems to find it...so posted a link I'm starting to think I might need to export the forum settings into a fresh install to get rid of these problems.... *sigh*
  15. It's a byproduct of the database crash we had in December and I still haven't narrowed down exactly what's causing it...your post does go through (almost right away), it's just the script in Invision doesn't send back the OK signal in the ajax request. So it just sits there forever. If you reload the page you'll find your post has been posted. This has been discussed quite a bit in the admin request thread part trois already.
  16. Yeah, I'm not sure whats' going on with that...will have to take a deeper look.
  17. Shouldn't be...none of the forums should allow for Guest posting as that's just asking for trouble.
  18. I don't have any errors in my hostmaster account...can you ask them what account names they tried to sign up with?
  19. It must be the overall Category for the Clubhouse one...I tried creating a new Clubhouse forum, but it inherited the problem....will have to try moving it to another category and see if the problem continues. Don't have time to try that right now though.
  20. Well...the liking may be slow, but it does complete... I still don't understand the trouble it has, but at least I have a work around for the problem... So the Clubhouse Forum is doing it as well then?
  21. Only a tiny genius I removed the old technical forum before I had a chance to compare the differences...silly me.
