  1. Does your government wish to establish formal relations with the Federal Republic of Zogradia? Establishing an embassy in the bustling Zogradese capital of Yakadu is a quick and easy way to solidify diplomatic ties with the Federal Republic, simply answer the questions below-- either in a reply to this thread, or via DM if you wish to remain anonymous.

OOC: After a long absence I have decided to once again start building Yakadu in Minecraft, and I'd like to populate it with your guys' embassies! I don't want to build the chancery* buildings without permission though, so this is the place to officially send an embassy to Zogradia, as well as tell me about any particular preferences or lore details.

*Note: An "embassy" is not a building, but a team of diplomatic staff led by the ambassador, which is housed within a building called a chancery. Missions sent to other cities are called consulates, though note I only plan to build Yakadu at this stage.

    PLEASE PROVIDE:

    - The full title of your nation.

    - Do you have a particular architectural style in mind for the chancery* building? (Feel free to send an image if you have something specific in mind, or leave this question blank if you're fine with a more generic design)

    - What is the name of your ambassador?

    - How big is the diplomatic complement? (IRL this is typically 20-50 people, but can be in the 100s depending on how close the two nations are. Note that most staff members generally live in regular housing, outside embassy grounds)

    - What are your security needs? Low? High?

    - Will you be hiring locally to supplement your security or other administrative needs? (The past 3 questions will determine the size of the chancery and its property)

    - Name any other cities in which you would like to commission a consulate (optional).

    - Would you like the Federal Republic of Zogradia to send an embassy to your capital city as well?

A couple sentences about your nation: Zogradia is an archipelagic nation located in the Darkesian Sea near Saint Mark, based primarily on the island of Sapaka within the Sapakaya Archipelago. Zogradia declared independence in the 14th century, initially under a dual monarchy, until this was abolished in 1402 in favor of a parliamentary republic.

  3. So, as you may have figured, my flag, though I personally like the design a lot, is a bit complicated, and I've therefore decided to give it a change.

The design below is what I'm thinking of replacing it to. Let me know what you think! My only concern is that it resembles the flag of the Philippines, a nearby neighbor of Zogradia (not that that's a bad thing, just potentially not as unique)

Blue= national color, black= determination, white= peace, red (yin yang)= people of Zogradia, blue (yin yang)= government of Zogradia (both in a yin yang, to represent their mutual dependence)

(You can find the old flag here)

SPECIAL REPORT: Elections Underway in Zogradia

    by Zogradia

Though the election for Zogradi Prime Minister will not be starting until 3.Jul.2016, 7 candidates in the nation's four major political parties (Royalist, Democratic Socialist, Green and Conservative), as well as 1 Independent have decided to enter the race. In this short piece, we're going to go through who exactly these people are. The primaries will be going from 3.Jul-28.Jul, and the general election will go from 29.Jul-15.Aug.

    Dmitry Zhubinov (R-Nasrat)

A former senator from the province of Nasrat, Zhubinov is a firm supporter of the Zogradi royal family, and stands on a platform of outlawing republicanism in Zogradia, much like what was already done in the UK. His slogan is "In the Katra [king] we trust".

    Shaski Inara (R-Natsr)

Current representative from Natsr, Inara, a staunch liberal, hopes to become Zogradia's third female PM, and fourth Ikida PM. She stands for boosting Ikida culture in Zogradia by making Ikida the dominant language, instead of English, by having schools and institutions teach Ikida as a "primary language". Though she has received huge backlash for this, due to concerns regarding foreign relations, she is steadily gaining support in Zogradia's smaller provinces. Her slogan is "Here for the natives".

    Gene Karbala (R-Ashden Island)

Karbala, former Ashden senator, calls for an end to Zogradi neutrality in world affairs, and to rebuild the army to take on world threats, including Daesh and the DPRK. His slogan is "Let's do this!".

    Juka Iyana (DS-Nemtel)

Iyana, former mayor of Nemtel City, and current governor of Nemtel, draws much of his inspiration for his campaign from Senator Bernie Sanders in the United States, though he's said to have more extreme motives and solutions. Iyana is running to break up big banks, and drive out large corporations in favor of smaller individual corporations. His slogan is "I want YOU!"

    Ayna Salaki (DS-Tashnir Island)

Another female candidate, Salaki aims to distribute wealth from richer provinces to support smaller provinces, having grown up in a small, poor town only a few kilometers east of the city of Tashnir, which she says is also "underfunded in many areas". Her overall goal is to put an end to poverty and improve the infrastructure of troubled areas in smaller cities. Her slogan is "Let's fix the nation!", and she has already been endorsed by Lord Kyon Min Su.

    Mohammed Ahwaz (G-Al Nashra)

Ahwaz, a staunch environmentalist, proposes tearing down Zogradia's already small suburbs, and encouraging maximum density in cities, as to maximize green spaces in the greenbelts of Zogradia's cities. His highly criticized slogan is "Make Zogradia green again!".

    Dmitry Viktorov (C-Yakadu)

Current owner and CEO of Viktorov Inc., a development corporation based in Yakadu, Viktorov runs with the idea of "treating Zogradia like a business", which hasn't so far sat well with most of Zogradia, and he is seen to be often offensive in his remarks, and has been charged with claims to racism that have so far turned out false. His slogan is "Viktorov is here".

    Ishmael Haslam (I-Kovel)

Haslam, an immigrant from Oman, who has recently received his citizenship, stands for immigrant's rights, though many Zogradis criticize this, as most don't see any problems with Zogradia's immigration system. His slogan is "10 years to citizenship?! That's ridiculous!".

  5. I have also sorted out a couple grammar features for Ikida. First, when ending sentences, all periods, question marks and exclamation points are put a space after the sentence (ex: "Is this a question ?" [ىڽ سلنتي ؟ ]), though this is sometimes ignored in informal circumstances (usually by newby foreigners).

Ikida also has a feature where the a, ā, and ı vowels are not required to be written when writing in the Arabic script (unless it's at the end of a word), so the word for a train station (sıtashın) can be spelled [ستشن or سىّتىشىّن]. Ikida words are structured so no diphthongs appear, which helps when written in Hangul/Hānkıl, and vowels are essentially implied in abjads like Arabic/Jawi, though obviously mandatory in alphabets like Hangul, so "sıtashın" can only be spelled "스따쓴" in Hangul.

    Population increase in NationStates!
For a while, our population has hovered around 5,000, however, it has recently jumped to literally over 9,000, while somehow still staying at 5th place. The North Pacific remains the most populous region at over 11,000 nations. This is pushing the stability of the delegates’ power, causing Elegarth to send a mass telegram a few weeks ago to all TWP nations. Though the cause is uncertain, Elegarth seems to be stable with around 450 endorsements.

    TWP World Summit
This March, the TWP Summit was hosted in Carson Village, Benjamin Mark, in which, the leaders of Zogradia, Hariko, Antahbrantahstan and Malviet all met for a couple days, though the discussion topic was not completely clear. Either way, the RP summit went on for about 10 days before the nations departed one-by-one.

Zogradi Company Looking to Colonize the Solar System
A Yakadu-based development firm known as Inostran, known for developing the Yin Yang Artificial Island Resort, has been developing everything from commercial districts to permanent Antarctic bases since 1988. However, Inostran CEO Kim Seung Jo has decided to partner her $13.6 billion (T7.3 billion) company with the government-operated ASAP Zogradia, the Zogradi space program, to jumpstart bases on the moon and Mars, hoping to also soon reach out to the moons of Jupiter.

    SPECIAL REPORT: DEN is Dead

Ever since the DEN invaded TWP via our then Delegate, United RussoAsia, I have had nothing but sour thoughts about the DEN and their frightening efficiency and lack of mercy or empathy. A few weeks ago, the Zogradi Department of Security and Intelligence backed a puppet nation, Yuzakistan, to use as a surveillance base, however, it would appear very much that none of this is needed anymore.

So what happened? When the DSI noticed that Yuzakistan had been moved to TRR, it investigated and found that, just yesterday, moderator Sedgistan announced in the forum about changes and tweaks made to accommodate nations, and even two regions, that used illegal script, and subsequently deleted DEN , as well as its 'trophy regions', and punished its former leaders.

  8. *Wheezes after writing 3 articles in a few days*

Oh well, good thing I'm a fast writer! Anyway, Issue 2 is out in the link here! Hope it's good!

Or, if you want to stay in the forums...

    Help Wanted at TWP! (Please?)

Well, I guess it’s just me this entire issue, so… let’s get this through. Okay, so The West Pacifican (what the TWP in the title was referring to) is a newspaper we hope to have every month or so, though the progress of releasing issues has gone slower than Jim Gilmour’s 2016 presidential campaign, which is why I am asking you for help writing the newspaper to write stories.

Basically, all you need is an idea, and preferably good grammar and spelling skills (at least better than what you find on the YouTube comments section), then, just write a couple short paragraphs about whatever you want related to TWP or NS that you think people will find interesting, then send it to my puppet [nation=short]The West Pacifican[/nation]. Simple! Anyways, now that I made my cry for assistance, let’s move on…

    Election Under Way!

As you may or may not know, the 2016 election for WA Secretary-General is underway, and our own [nation=short]Benjamin Mark[/nation] is running for the esteemed office, but didn’t exactly make the second round, so we switched our support to [nation=short]Mikeswill[/nation], and we urge you to be a true West Pacifican™, and vote for We Are Not TBH! “But how?” you ask, well, first if you read this in the next few days, you will see a small, turquoise banner near the top displaying election numbers. Click on it, and you’ll be taken to the election page, from there, click “vote” and select whoever TWP supports next!

What are we Voting for, though?!

The 2016 WASG election is underway at the same time as the US presidential election and the Zogradi Prime Ministerial election in a few weeks, but what is the first thing, exactly? Well, to explain it to a degree in which I can explain it, it is the election for the WA Secretary-General. As of the release of this article, we have had three primary rounds, and are now in the General Election, and we (TWP) have switched support from Benjamin Mark to Mikeswill, and are now supporting [nation=short]We Are Not TBH[/nation], keep in mind we’re against much of NS, including non-WA members. Yes! Non-WA members can vote for the head of the WA, like if I, being an American, voted for who will be the EU chancellor. But hey, can’t hurt, can it? (We’ll probably be fine)

  9. So, I've been a bit obsessed with underground metro systems (I say 'metro', yes I'm from DC), so I decided to start a discussion about what our metro systems are like in our cities.

The Yakadu metro is a vast metrorail system spread around the Yakadu-Sana-Nemtel City Metropolitan Area (Yakasamtel Cities), transporting over 5 million people per day, and largely inspired by the DC Metro.

  10. Sapakaya One has landed at CVI (correct me if I'm wrong) Airport, the leaders of Zogradia have exited, passed through customs, and greeted President Williams, asking where everyone else is.

Informed that we were early, now we wait... Maybe a tour of the city wouldn't hurt to pass the time.

  11. Zogradia!

I want the paper to be out by next Monday.

As soon as I get articles submitted! *cough, cough* I'm not the only author of the articles. If I were, "The West Pacifican" would be called "The Yakadu Chronicle".

  12. It seems so dead here... let's talk about our countries' airlines!

Zogradia's is called ZogradiAir (aka; Zogradiair), a major, world-class airline that serves cities around the world, with hubs in the Zogradi cities of Yakadu and Yasu, as well as Harikosa (Hariko's capital).
