  1. There was a time when TWP was staunchly defender and intel based. This was probably the most active time for the TWPAF. (It was a very active time for all militaries. We counted WAs in the 10's and 100's when planning missions.) Following that there was a time when TWP was extremely active in the political and intel sphere. While the military wasn't as active, it was more selectively applied and had a much bigger impact on inter regional affairs. More influential rather than active. NS was a very different landscape in those days. Defending & spying was where the technically proficient crowd invested their time. TWP was home to some very volatile personalities with insomnia (there was only one update, no influence and very few trackers and scripts. everything was done manually) When exactly was that...? 2008 Does anyone remember the actual year(s)?
  2. If anyone is interested in a more realistic view of TWP history without the false political embellishments, ask questions, and we will do our best to answer them.
  3. I can't talk. Too busy crying. COPD is such a biatch.
  4. Here is why the HGA stayed out of treaties : They weren't interested. It's pretty simple. There is also a very complicated problem with treaties that seems to plague TWP. If we are to be true to our governing style, there should be 2 treaties. One for the Community and one for the Game side. But no one seems to get that. It means double work to peel apart a treaty so that it recognizes both aspects as equal. There was a time when treaties were signed by both the Delegate and the Prime Minister as a means of recognizing both heads of government. But when the Community moved toward hibernation, that fell out of favor because the inactivity held up diplomacy. This remains the sole reason we are not treatied with TSP. They cannot agree on a treaty that does not recognize the forum community as superior to the Delegate. It is a problem in the diplomatic arena. However, it is a very important cultural difference in TWP so it's worth the struggle. If the HGA wants to get involved in radifying treaties, it's more than welcomed to do so. At this point the only crossover between Diplomacy (FA) and the game is with Embassies. The Delegate, as a courtesy to the Community, refuses to open an in-game embassy until and unless there is an embassy on the forum.
  5. Tried to add a couple thoughts but my phone hates this venue. Please remind me tomorrow to post.

    Happy Day

    Congrats!
  7. If you aren't contacted by the PM soon, please just start doing it and let them figure out if they want to make it an official department. At least it will be getting done. Thanks!
  8. I remember gopher searches like ARCHIE and VERONICA and JUGHEAD. I am old.
  9. I retired years ago.
  10. Milo isn't here. Moldavi isn't here. The first statement is for TP and Elegarth. The second statement is for BBD. We will repeat both statements often.
  11. *shrugs* I can't honestly tell what you two are yelling at each other about. Seems to me you said And Eli answered you by saying in his patented Eli manner, that it doesn't matter what I choose. Then you said Which pissed off Eli because he had responded to your question. If the answer was obvious, why did you ask the question? Or was the question rhetorical? If it was rhetorical, why follow it with From here it appears that you are bent out of shape and claiming that TWP "Isn't open" because Eli smacked you around for being a smart ass about his answer. In TWP, we are all smart asses. We like smart asses. But remember that being a smart ass isn't restricted to just community members. You expressed your concern that TWP's revolution is somehow disingenuous or deceitful. Eli answered that concern to the best of his ability. The rest is just a bunch of smart asses killing time between work assignments.
  12. I tried. I really tried not to respond. But I just can't help it.... Does that make you Eli's hat? I get that your loyalty is mostly to The Pacific, Elegarth. Here's the thing: There is no reason to be worried about a "coup." If the Guardians don't choose a delegate that the community thinks is appropriate, then the Guardians fully expect the community to rise up and take the Delegacy away from whomever is sitting there. It's their duty. It's the way things are in TWP. As long as there is an atmosphere of cooperation between the Delegate and the Community, everything runs smoothly. When that atmosphere evaporates there is "violence." But that violence has the inherent approval of the Guardians already. Revolution is coming, one way or another. Who is in charge of it is incidental.
  13. Eli does not have a chill mode. One never has to guess what Eli is thinking. I believe the point Eli was trying to make is that it doesn't really matter what or whom I choose, if the community doesn't agree with me.
  14. does anyone have a list of his puppets so I can ban them, if I see them? Also, probably a good idea if we make sure he isn't lurking about in this forum.
  15. I like active. Active is good.
  16. Welcome to TWP! Sorry for the delay. Been a bit preoccupied with Holidays and such. Hope you enjoy your time with us!
  17. Sigh. I really suck at this. If IH ever returns, give him my sincere apologies. Instead of changing his masking I just deleted him. /me hangs head in shame
  18. Being sick over the holidays bites. I'm sorry you feel unwell. The map is fun looking.
  19. *offers Welcome box of chocolates*
  20. Welcome to TWP! As always, Westwind has the best advice.
  21. Could use it as a jump point for funzorz!
  22. No. Super-glueing your extremities to stuff. Not sure why we chose a tree. But hey, it'll do.
  23. I'm having everyone post on the RMB and in this thread. If a person posts their answers in one, I will try to be sure they are copied to the other so everyone has a chance to see and participate in the discussions. From today's RMB:
  24. I did my graduate work with a member of the corrective optics team.
  25. The first essay question will be posed when the poll closes in a week. However, a preview for those who notice this thread: How do you view the relationship between the on-site (gameside) RMB and the off-site community forum? In what ways would you change things to make reality reflect your views and how would you help get the nations of the region to actively support this move? Remember there are no correct or incorrect answers. Just tell us what you think.
