  1. I, States of Glory, swear that I have, to the best of my knowledge, been completely truthful in applying for citizenship in The West Pacific and that I have no other NationStates identity that has not been made known in this application. I swear my allegiance to The West Pacific and its citizens, and I swear not to engage in hostilities against The West Pacific or to violate The Manners of Governance, or any laws made pursuant to it.
  2. Firstly, I'd like to mirror Arotania's comments regarding the format. For a first-time author, you've got it nailed. The proposal is well-written and reads like a law. For that, well done. However, in addition to the aforementioned comments, I question how necessary this proposal is in light of GA #78 a.k.a. Universal Library Coalition and GA #397 a.k.a. World Assembly Central Library Compact. Even if universities engage in questionable textbook practices, a vast repository of bibliography from around the world (and beyond) already exists under WA supervision.
  3. As much as I'd love to contribute to any draft that gets posted here, my relative inexperience in Gameplay and in the SC means that I'm not well-suited to advise in such matters. That said, in the spirit of humour, I'd personally replace 'NOTING' with 'MILDLY ANNOYED', though the decision is entirely yours.
  4. Oh, so that's where the Manners were! I'll be honest, I went on a wild goose chase looking for them. Thanks!
  5. It appears as if I don't have permission to post in the 'Hall of Nations' subforum. I'm not entirely sure what the required privileges are, but to my understanding, citizenship of TWP is all that is required. If that is the case, I would like to request that I be granted the proper permissions, if it isn't too much bother. That's assuming that I haven't got this all wrong and made a fool of myself, that is.
  6. Chrome isn't allowing me to access imgur. Is there another way of accessing the logs?
  7. It depends on how Pride and Prejudice goes, I suppose.
  8. On the contrary, the title is completely accurate.
  9. The preamble has been overhauled and the active clauses have been modified slightly. I would spoiler my old drafts for comparison, but this forum doesn't seem to support spoilers.
  10. Alright, I've made some edits. Let me know what you guys think.
  11. That was one of the concerns, but I can't address it without violating either the Metagaming rule or the Real-Life References rule. I'll look at some of the other comments I got and see if I can address them.
  12. I see that this sub-forum has hardly been used in the few years that it has existed. As Minister of WA Affairs, I have a mandate to increase WA participation in the region, so I thought that I'd lead by example and post my failed proposal here for others to comment on. My aims here are twofold: Getting this proposal to pass and getting more TWP citizens interested in the World Assembly. With any luck, this process will aid those two aims. P.S. I'm thinking of alternative titles. I've narrowed it down to Ban, National Sovereignty Regarding Everything and Cute Puppies Act, though other suggestions are welcome.
  13. I'm still listed as TWP's Minister for WA Affairs even though I've resigned. I request that the masking be transferred to Drachmaland.
  14. My biggest suggestion? Wait for the GA regulars to comment before submitting! Most of them know far more than I do.
  15. I know that I keep banging on about this, but it's important that you get your proposal under 3,500 characters or it won't be able to be submitted. Right now, it is 4,660 characters long. Just write 'The World Assembly' with a comma at the end. This is unnecessarily long, not to mention redundant. Just write 'hereby'. Any details regarding this committee? Even a name, perhaps? You don't have enough room to create another committee anyway, so you could easily remove this entire clause. As for the rest, I'm afraid that you'll have to trim it yourself, but if you're finding it difficult, I'd suggest splitting it into two different proposals (just make sure that you don't violate the 'House of Cards' rule in doing so and that both of them can stand on their own two feet).
  16. I already have a few proposals in the back burner, if you're interested. There's a searchable repository of passed resolutions in the GA sub-forum; if you have an idea, you can always search that repository to see if it's already been done.
  17. GA #78 a.k.a Universal Library Coalition already establishes an online database and I honestly don't see why we need a separate one. GA #53 a.k.a Epidemic Response Act already requires member nations to share pathogen samples with the WA and GA #31 a.k.a World Health Authority strongly encourages nations to disseminate other relevant medical knowledge. There's also the fact that this clause would require member states to disseminate personal medical records, which contradicts Clause Six of GA #29 a.k.a Patient's Rights Act. GA #97 a.k.a Quality in Health Services already covers this quite comprehensively. GA #242 a.k.a Biological Warfare Convention bans the use of biological weapons and Clauses Six and Seven of that same resolution already places restrictions on research pertaining to biological warfare. There's also the fact that the bulk of this proposal is already covered by the soon-to-pass World Assembly Central Library Compact and that this draft contains 4,142 characters when the limit is 3,500. Overall, while I can see why you want to pass this, the fact is that there are already tons of medical resolutions passed by the GA. The ones I brought up were just the tip of the iceberg. This may sound harsh, and it's not intended to be, but I'd honestly recommend scrapping this proposal and trying something else, as healthcare is easily one of the most comprehensively covered topics in the GA.

Absolutely disgusting decision to allow the marsupial menace to infiltrate the august Hall of Nations. For the sake of this region's security, I must implore you to reconsider. (I jest, of course)
  19. I'm always in favour of tongue-in-cheek proposals, so no complaints from me. Besides, you know far more about the SC than I do.
  20. If you're referring to Protection of the Partially Born, that didn't criminalise abortion. It couldn't have even if it wanted to as it would have been ruled illegal for contradiction. The only reason people assumed that it banned abortion was that it was written by a member of Right to Life. Anyway, I am indeed using this proposal as a weapon. You see, Imperium Anglorum intends to repeal the current NatSov resolution in favour of a replacement which forces nations to legalise euthanasia. The tactic I'm utilising is cynical, but if it protects national sovereignty then so be it. I understand your position, but surely you'd oppose the repeal of a bill which explicitly protects national sovereignty? That is indeed the intended reaction. Out of all the GA regulars, Separatist Peoples is the only one so far who has picked up on what it is I'm trying to do.
  21. Born and raised in England. Both of my parents are of Pakistani descent. ...I don't have a particularly complex and interesting background, do I?
