OSIRIAN GOVERNMENT AND CONSTITUTION SUSPENDED, DELEGATE DECLARES HERSELF EMPRESS

The crisis escalates in Osiris.

THEBES, OSIRIS --  Natives are stirring in opposition to the most recent decision by Osirian delegate, Astarial (as “Detective Figs”) to declare herself Empress of Osiris and suspend the government and constitution.

While Astarial and those in her inner circle have tried to assure the public that this suspension of the government and the constitution is not a “coup”, natives have not necessarily been convinced.

“So it's a coup then...” says Revert, Osiris’s oldest resident, on the Regional Message Board, “Figs is very suddenly in absolute control and the old gov't bodies have been dissolved. Hopefully it all turns out for the best. Nth time's the charm, right?”

While other Osirians were much less civil, one even screaming “Down with the Empress and her coup!” on the Regional Message Board.

When her authority was questioned, Astarial told Gameplayers, “I possessed all executive, legislative, and judicial authority in Osiris” – leaving no doubts regarding the strength of her rule.

While this sudden regime change is supposed to help progress the constitutional reforms in Osiris, political commentators like Glen-Rhodes have suggested that this regime change is not how to go about it.

“[Osiris does] need a change,” says Glen-Rhodes, a former citizen of Osiris, “but the answer to a dysfunctional government isn't more dysfunction”.

Glen-Rhodes suggests to NSNE that the problem with Osiris is “a combination of systemic instability in the region ever since Madjack was Pharaoh, combined with the destruction of the rule of law in the region”.

However, Biyah, an Osirian insider, shot back at Glen-Rhodes, arguing that Astarial shouldn’t be concerned with the criticism of outsiders and also told NSNE, “any attempt to liberate [Osiris] will be seen as an act of war”.

I’m sure NSNE will keep you up to date on this story as it evolves. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing NSNE news with us :tiphat:

The only problem with change is that everyone has their own idea of what that means.  Nonetheless, I wish Delegate Asta/Detective Figs and all of Osiris the best of luck as they chart the future of Osiris.
