Welcome! We are glad to have you join! You don't have to just do a newspaper there are infinite number of possibilities for you to do in RP but a newspaper is always a good start! Another note about RP that you should know is that we don't use NS stats, they aren't very realistic and so we have our Questionnaire thread that you can fill our and post there after you make a map claim (if you haven't already that is) to get some of your stats sorted out. Feel free to ask any questions about RP in the RP discord server, everyone is happy to help! Also consider joining one of the ministries to become more involved in the community! -
April 30, 1420 Adsila Ani’-Wah’ All was quiet in Zoran, especially in the streets of Zoradia where the public funeral was to be held. I was still thinking of my father and all he told me in the limo only three days ago. The lawyer told me yesterday about the clause in the will where it gave me the choice to accept my father’s decision to make me the head of the Ani’-Wah’ family and I have thought about this heavily. Centuries of family tradition ride on my decision, if I accept the tradition will be upheld and continue through me. However, if I reject it then the tradition will be jeopardized as none of my siblings are eligible to follow the tradition completely. Oh if only I had more time to decide. I thought to myself as the limo came to a stop in front of the Rising Sun Mausoleum. People are only entombed there if ninety percent of the country’s voting population votes to have someone entombed there and the Divine Shaman has to deem the person to be morally and spiritually righteous. I was amazed by how quickly the people called for a vote on my father and how quickly the Divine Shaman delivered his judgement(historically this usually takes several days) as he delivered it within six hours of my father’s death. Of course people investigated due to how quickly this all took place but they couldn’t find any form of corruption that could have influenced the vote or the Divine Shaman. However, my father was to be buried there ceremonially, his body would not be in the casket that was to be entombed in the crypt. Our family planned to have a private funeral where we would bury his body according to his requests he made in his will. As I got out of the limo wearing my black dress and black veil, I saw the crowds of people in the streets holding Damask roses of different colors waiting for their time that they would be allowed to pay their respects. Wow...father really did impact a lot of people during his presidency. Despite the fact that the position has no influence, he did a lot to promote peace between our country and others all while making life better for Zoranians in the years he was voted into office. It’s just incredible how he could do so much with so little actual power. I thought this to myself as I climbed up the steps towards the entrance of the mausoleum. When I reached the stop of the stairs, a bald and older looking man in a black suit walked up to me, “Ah you must be Adsila, it is a pleasure to finally meet you!” He then shook my hand and I just stood there in confusion as I had never met this man in my life. “Um, do I know you? I mean I know that I am the center of attention due to the media leaking that I still haven’t decided to become head of the Ani’-Wah’ family but I do not know if I have met you before.” I say in confusion, “Ah my apologies, no you have not met me but I worked closely with your father before he went into politics and before he became the head of AW Encrypted. You know what that means yes?” my eyes widened when he said this as I indeed knew what this meant, he worked for the SIC, “Would you prefer if we didn’t talk in the open?” I asked knowing his answer before he told me, “Yes I would.” he says with a smile as we walk into the mausoleum together. (OOC Note: if you wish to write in this topic you can, it would be an event like the olympics but not sports related and it would be canon. Your leaders can be at the funeral or a delegation from your country can be there, you can also be a news reporter there. The choice is yours!)

Official Announcement from the Zoranian Government Our heads hang low and our hearts bleed red for the captain lays dead. While the sun may shine on Zoran today, a shadow of sorrow has descended upon us today. For twelve great years, President Apenimon Ani'-Wah' has served as our President, one of the longest serving presidents in Zoranian history. He never intended to serve for as long as he has, in fact he didn't officially run after his first term. Ani'-Wah' was a suffering servant, he never ran for office after his first term, in fact he requested that his name to not be on the ballot. But the people wrote his name in the ballot year after year, despite his best efforts. He had every opportunity to refuse the nomination, he could have simply gone back to his regular life like he wanted to. But instead, he went with the will of the people and accepted the burden of being the voice of Zoran to the nations of the world. While the powers of the president are nonexistent, it is a position with a lot of responsibility and one with lots of hardship and criticism. We have seen him take the responsibility along with the hardship with stride time and time again and we have seen him age physically under the pressures of the position. We hereby announce a public funeral for the great man and invite all people who wish to attend. Foreign nations are allowed to send their delegations to the event if they choose to send any and leaders of nations can attend if they so choose as well. May we come together to remember the man that was Apenimon Ani'-Wah' and we send our regards to the Ani'-Wah' family for their loss of the head of their family.

The old man rose from his bed as the sun rose from the East. He said his morning prayer and got dressed, thinking about the future of the world after he would leave this one. He already had his will written up last night and a shaman came and gave him his blessings. Tomorrow would be his last day but he first must make sure he gives his goodbyes to the young Sultan, who has so much ahead of him. The young sultan has his whole life ahead of him but will face many trials and hardships ahead but I know he will become a great leader after he overcomes the opposition against him. The old man finished dressing and was escorted by a Raven Claw to the foyer of the Austenaco Manor where he saw his children and his grandchildren waiting for him. He knew his grandchildren were still too young to understand why their parents, his children, so he asked them to be sent to the children's room in the manor while he gave his goodbyes to his children. He hasn’t seen any of his children cry so much since their mother died years ago. “Do not despair my children, I will soon be united with the Great Spirit in the spirit realm and I will be able to watch over all of you from above. But I will say this to all of you, look after each other as your mother and I have always taught you, do not forget family traditions and values, and raise your children to be better than you.” As the words left his lips, all seven of his children(including Astil), all nodded their heads and they gave him a group hug. After the hug, Ani'-Wah' was taken to his limo to meet the Sultan at the airport to wish him goodbye and to give him one last gift, a jewel encrusted scimitar and a blade made with a titanium core with a tungsten carbide edge. The president had this ordered back when the visit was in planning and it was finished a week before. He paid this out of his own pocket and ensured that the blacksmith who made it got the best quality materials available and requested that the sword can be used in conflict. It also came with a jeweled scabbard to match the scimitar. I hope the Sultan will appreciate the gift. The limo pulls to a spot as it arrives at the airport for the two leaders to say their final goodbyes.

The West Pacifican: Writers' Corner Submissions
Zoran replied to Fuentana's topic in The Western Post
Grievances of the Unheard Once upon a time there was a dream to make a land for the free, A dream and that is all it was as people of color were bound In the chains forced upon them by their fellow men; as their lives and cries were lost as the bells of freedom rang and drowned their loud sounds; While their fellow men would whip and beat these poor black men to the hard ground, And yet for those that ran/to be free, they would be fed to the hounds, But the Fathers that found this ravaged land had the chance to end it all And yet they kept the system out of fear; to unite the states and doomed Their posterity to centuries of hate and pain and spilt blood, And now I watch the news of the people who are consumed by the gloom, Unable to do my part at seventeen as men are inhumed As they seek to be heard after being ignored as anger ballooned, While those before who rebelled in Shay’s and Whiskey were pardoned Along with those who left to keep the blood rusted chains in the fields By Washington and Lincoln, who many admire and praise as heroes, And yet the men and women who peacefully protest for ideals Of justice after being ignored for far too long yell out pleads; Only to be met with force and are sent to jail by some fiends, After years of fighting for rights of colored people years ago Were all those sacrifices of those who died for change made in vain? Liberty may stand on broken chains but she cries in chains herself As she watches as her people are shot and gassed, writhing in pain, Meanwhile the orange man hides away tweeting away; guilty as Cain As he guns down his own citizens, showing how he is insane, But here I sit holding back tears writing these words to express how trapped I feel; unable to do my part at seventeen when men before Conquered nations at my age, and yet I am unable to help Those who are on the ground taking a stand for true justice and more, All I can do is sit and watch the world burn as more blood is poured, Is this the land of the free or of the damned, I ask as I offer another prayer, -
The President sat in his limo as he watched the Sultan walk back into the hotel. As he watched, he had a large coughing fit that caused a major pain in his chest. He felt weak, he knew he shouldn’t have been as active as he has been the past few days, but he had to in order to ensure good relations with Lanorth. I have lived a long and good life, I have few regrets. I hope I have made my father and my grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather proud with all I have done in life. But unlike them, I thankfully didn’t have to kill anyone in my time as an agent in the SIC. Now I just have to get my will set up and speak with all of my children, including Adsila. Thankfully, I told my children that Adsila was their sister years ago after she was born and sent away. Adsila put a hand on the old man’s shoulder as the limo began to drive to Austenaco Manor, “Are you going to be alright tonight father?” “Yes I will be fine, I will have Dr. Ahalakochee and a member of the Raven Claws looking after me. You have nothing to fear for now, when I arrive at the manor I will have a lawyer help me create the will and a shaman will give me the Great Spirit’s Blessing of the Departing Soul. I do not believe I will die tonight nor tomorrow but I wish to be ready just in case.” He answered. But there is one thought that weighs on his mind, the family tradition. It is the Ani’-Wah’ family tradition even before the unification of the tribes going all the way back to the War of the Covenant. It has been tradition that a male member of the family of at least eighteen years of age is to be a spy until they turn thirty. The son who ends up becoming an agent is to be the next head of the Ani’-Wah’ family and takes over the Ani’-Wah’ family business, AW Encrypted. However, all of his sons are already in their thirties and have kids of their own. The closest child he has that has the potential to be the head of the family after his death according to tradition would be Adsila, even though she is a female he can probably change the salic nature of the tradition. But there is another part of the tradition, only the selected child that becomes a spy will know the family history of working in the intelligence world. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to tell her, she is just the right age, she is like me, my father, my grandfather, etc. in the fact that she graduated early from high school and is graduating early from university. She is intelligent, resourceful, and athletic. I guess I have no choice. He sighed and said, “Adsila I have something to tell you.” She looked at him and asked, “What’s the matter?” “You are the only child I have that is young enough to follow the family tradition, something I have neglected with your siblings. Do you know what our family business is?” He asks in a serious tone, “AW Encrypted, our family’s communications and information company right?” She asks, “That is only the cover for our family’s history. Ever since the Great Spirit War, the Ani’-Wah’ family has been spies for our tribe and we were the foundation of intelligence in Zoran. For years, all members of the family worked for the Platypus Tribe to spy on other tribes and to keep a dot on all things that were going on in each tribe. This is why our family has always been large as we needed as many children as possible to spy on all thirty tribes. Yes I said thirty, we even spied on our own tribe for counterintelligence operations. However, starting with my great-great grandfather, Inola Ani’-Wah’, only one branch of the family would work in intelligence and that branch would be the main Ani’-Wah’ branch. He was one of the founding members of the SIC and was its first agent due to our family’s history of espionage and intelligence. He and he alone bore the code Agent 0 due to how revolutionary he was in the world of modern intelligence and for his reputation for setting up the practices that agents follow to this day. But after his term as an agent was over, he set up our family company and began to produce encryption and decryption technology for the SIC as well as developing equipment that agents use today as well as things that pop culture would call spy gadgets. But this is all developed and produced in secret, what our family company is known for such as malware protection, home security systems, communications, laptops, smartphones, etc. is all just a cover.” The old man said, He saw Adsila’s surprised face as she was hit with this information. He gave her a moment to take it all in before continuing, “Since Inola Ani’-Wah’, the succession of the head of the family was always a son chosen by the head of the family, usually the eldest son, and they would join the SIC, the youngest they could be was eighteen. They would be an agent until they are 30 and when the head of the family dies they will be the new head of the family and will inherit the company. Should the head of the family die during the years that the successor is in the SIC, they will have to request to leave the SIC early. But if you haven’t guessed already, I am choosing you to be the next head of the Ani’-Wah’ family as all of my children are already too old to be in the SIC and no member of the family is allowed to know the true family business except for the chosen successor of the Ani’-Wah’ family. Thus you and I are the only living members of the family that know this secret.” Ani’-Wah’ saw that Adsila was deeply surprised by this information and was deep in thought. “So events such as the assassination of that one Nieubrasian aristocrat in 1303 was done by my great-great-great grandfather? I don’t know how I feel about this, I will need some time to think but thank you for being honest with me.” She says as the limo pulls to a stop. They step out of the limo and give each other a hug before parting ways. The lawyer that the old man arranged to meet came out of the manor and walked towards the president and asked, “Mr. President, are you ready to discuss your will?” The President nodded and they walked into the manor to discuss the terms of his will.

Ani'-Wah' met with Mehmed by the limos and Ani'-Wah' said, "Welcome to the Heart of the Spirit my friend. While I understand that you do not believe in the same god as we do, but it pleases me to see you so willing to at least admire the architecture and the craftsmanship of our ancestors." The Sultan nodded and smiled at Ani'-Wah'. The President then continued, "We shall be touring the top section of the temple. It is the major religious center of the temple and considered to be the most sacred part of the temple and it is where the Statue of Woya is located." The Sultan then turned to his bodyguard and whispered orders to him in Lanorthan, which the President understood but saw no need to listen in. The bodyguards nodded with reluctance and they returned to the limos. The Sultan then motioned towards the temple so they proceeded forward. On their way there, the president decided to introduce Adsila to the Sultan, "My friend, let me introduce you to my intern and daughter Adsila. A student at the Platypus Island University. She shall be accompanying us today and I hope you do not mind that she does." The Sultan gave a nod and a smile to Adsila as they reached the site. "I know that your people do not particularly like other religions due to faith in your own, but the tolerance you are showing in being willing to see the temple is admirable." They proceeded to climb up the steps, Ani'-Wah' had some difficultly climbing up the long stair case but Adsila supported her father with a smile on her face and the old man was grateful that the Sultan slowed his pace to match his own. While most of the world may look at the young Sultan as a tyrant, I know he is simply misunderstood. He is a kind man at heart that has simply experienced pain in his childhood. I only wish that whoever succeeds me in my position as President will learn what I already knew about the Sultan. The old man thought to himself as they made their way to the top of the temple. They passed through the ancient marble archway and entered the religious center of the temple. The room was vast and made of gray stone that had stiacciatos carved into the walls depicting the arrival of the first Zoranians to Zoran and other events from the Zoracon. There were pews and prayer mats throughout the room but at the opposite side of the room from the entrance was a large marble altar with ancient Zoranian inscriptions that were carved into the altar. There was a large gold chandelier that was added in the thirteenth century that hung above and on the same ceiling was a mural depicting the Divine Shaman Adanvdo the Spirit Chosen kneeling before a large ball of light as he wrote the secrets of the universe on a piece of paper. But the one that was central to the temple was the Statue of Woya that stood in the very center of the room with a shallow pool of water around it that is caused from the stream of water that gently rolls down the statues face and comes from the eyes as tears. This statue has been tested dated by researchers to have been created centuries ago anywhere from 8960 BF to 8950 BF and is a marvel to them as the smoothness of the stone and how human-like it looked for something to have been created in that era. The statue is of a woman kneeling with her arms open but close to her side and looking towards to the ground in sorrow with tears streaming down her face. The three of them admired the statue together for a while before they began to move on to looking at the altar and the other parts of the room.for about half an hour before leaving. As they walked down the steps, the old man said to the Sultan, "Next on our places to visit is the site of the Battle of the Covenant, ever since that battle Zoranians have kept it the same condition as it was when the battle ended and maintained it very well. There is a memorial there for the 600,000 men that died in the Great Spirit War in defense of the faith against heretics. Just to let you know ahead of time, it is expected for people who visit there to remove their shoes and any outwear such as jackets, coats, etc. before they even set foot upon the grounds. It is also expected for people not to carry weapons or wear any sort of armor there as it is a belief amongst Zoranians that the spirits of the men who died there still wander and wish to not see anything that reminds them of conflict as they wish to live their life there in peace. Of course this is nothing more than a form of respect to the deceased, it isn't a law as there are few in Zoran."
