I agree in many of your points, but I also think the current system hadn't had the change to be REALLY tried. I'm not saying NO to the idea of a system as you propose. Nor I care for what Cormac thinks or not about it... But after talking to BBB I think he has it right in a couple of accounts regarding small things happening and NOT GETTING exposure. That is just A PART of the problem of course. And it may be weird, if such integration occurred I'd have more chance to make changes, but that does not means they will also work... What I'm trying to say is that another change, like the ones we've had in the past few months, has as much potential of bringing people on board as it has to drive them away... I honestly feel a drastic change now won't be for the best. We could try a partial attempt at it. As I mentioned before, I'm trying to take a more active role by advising BBB and trying to push stuff within the existing environment, and will probably run for Advocate myself in the next election, which would also create a similar situation. My point in short is, rushing into a new system, when we have not REALLY put efforts in the current one, seems as doom to failure as continuing in our current inactive path. On a side note, we both play the same card in one aspect: I can't prove you wrong as much as you can't prove yourself right, as any kind of real proof of any of the two would require evidence of the other happening and being better or worse WITHIN our environment. The fact that something works in a place doesn't means it works everyone, with pseudo-liberal democracies being an example... But in any case, I don't control the Voice. This is just my opinion. And everyone has one!

In the end, all of the options will ALWAYS have CONs and PROs that will depend on what you WANT to make with your nation.
-
Please proof the system is to be blamed for the lack of activity. If you can show me evidence of it, I'll take care of the rest of your argument, Vlagh.
-
At this point, I honestly think making a change will not change activity, so I think we should rather focus on assisting the Voice do this, than on changing stuff. I'll help BBB, he and I are talking now, and anyone's efforts will also be welcomed.

I think most of us or a big portion at least feel the same

The union is an off-site creature that has no base to approve or disapprove the delegate. This has been exposed previously. What if a second off-site government with their own voice is formed? This does not seems to hold itself imo.
-
Aye correct. The only advantage I see with the integrated vs the separated system ia that the delegate always has to be active, yes or yes, for the sake of the position, while the advocate can literally disappear with no issues. However beyond that, the activity of the executive head, there is the same conundrum regarding overall activity

That Called the Vlagh for Advocate
Elegarth replied to That Called the Vlagh's topic in Voice of The West Pacific Union
You should tell them, lol -
It doesn't necessarily does it either. As I say, whatever you guys decide. If someone wants to formalize a proposal, you can put it to vote. The people who thinks this is a good idea do so cuz they see twp inclined to more in-game than forum activity. In the end, this is the people's choice.
-
Yes, they could organize their staff including assistants/deputies/etc

Simple straightforward idea. The Delegate is the Executive Head of Government. The Guardians are the protective body of the Community in-game and continue performing their existing guardianship duties. The Deputy Advocates are written off, and we simply move to a Ministers only system, where the delegate names Ministers for the different executive arms: army, diplo, internal affairs, NS issue, etc. The Advocate remains as the head of The Voice, which takes the form of a legislative regional assembly, and perhaps even a judiciary, should we need it. The system is simple... The advocate is elected by the voice and creates rules and laws for the in-forum community, while the delegate still rules and handles any in-game matters based on Max's laws.

I have an idea of a working structure like that... I'll post tomorrow from pc.

I love diplomacy. Super intense if the people playing are really into it. Easy to get worked up. I like Munchkin too, and the many flavors of it there are just making endlessly fun Agreed. I don't consider any of the RPGs I play boardgames, as we (my different groups) never played it tactically (no grid, no minis, just the dices to portray positions and only in the rare scenario when someone asked cuz they had a crazy idea). My first character was named Elegarth (and you may guess how significant it was to me, that I use its name as my nickname now). Yes, and then that's why you need the expansions to add it more... and even there, it can start to get old if you play it too often

That is what URA did, remember? ANd it failed horribly even before his DEN madness I like this idea tbh

Nice. Type a paragraph about it and I'll include it.

FOr me: BOARD GAMES. I own about 25 of them, with Risk being just the simplest oldest most common one I have. Simple: there are two decks of cards, Black Ones that have "QUESTIONS" and white ones that have "ANSWERS". As it is usually played, the players get a hand of white hands, and then a black question card is drawn and you - the player - need to select your answer to it, trying to be AS AWFUL AND HORRIBLE a person as possible. The reason that I use "questions" and "answers" in quotes, is because many of them are just incomplete sentences or single words. So you have a real example here: In it, the white cards take the space of the Blank. Then, whatever is the most awful/funny/terrible one wins and you go on. On who win and how a winner is selected, the game itself has several options. I play it so that the best answer is voted.

Ok. BBB put together a text, I want to send a TG as incoming delegate by tomorrow, and I can include anything from the contest or what else. Malv, Drach, anything else we want to send out? Write it down and I'll gather it all in a single tg
-
True, finding the balance of each region is the thing. We could easily send one every couple days without issues during normal times, events allow us for more. But balance is the key.
-
Regional TGs are counterproductive. The more you sent, the more likely people is to block them. If a TG is going to be sent, it would be good for it to include several topics, instead of sending 3 or 4
-
Well, I'm not opposing that idea either. If the people would like that, something that could be easily consulted, I'd be able to work it out too. I just don't feel imposing it will benefit anyone, and hence wouldn't do it.
-
We should extend the deadline, now that the Zombie Event is over, and promote it a bit more in the RMB.

I think there is a lot of merit in everyone's answers. Much of TP's activity started with RPing and it worked. THen they tried new things and it worked. And it continues to try new things and it works. In TWP, we have had in the last year ups and downs in activity, with usually chaos and issues bringing activity and calm and stability bringing inactivity. That of course is a normal thing. We need to find a balance and make it work. The newspaper, the diplo, all seems to lack push. I guess I could give it to them as Delegate once I take over Medio, but is not my job, is the Advocate's job and I know BBB has been trying. He consults me, and Medio, and we try to offer advise. But if I get more involved, it could seem disrespectful towards BBB since I do not hold a position in the Voice. I'd like to see TWP regain the activity it had during the time me and Llamas used to argue DAILY, without any two people having to antagonize like that again. I know for a fact that is also what URA wanted before going bat-shit stupid. He did it the wrong way. I'd like to try to do it the right way. And within the existing off-site government, by candidating myself as advocate once BBB's turn is over. I'd also like to help BBB further if he accepts it, but within the organization. Not from outside. But that is something for me and him to discuss privately. I've been sort of LOAish till today, End of October is a hard month at work. I'm back now. Let's get this ball rolling? Do I hear SOLUTIONS?

If we want the delegate to do more that can happen. I intended to run for advocate next election, once I transition into the delegacy. My transition has indeed been slow because I had to restart from zero... is not an easy fit tbh.
