  1. That seems like the most logical way to do it I've heard you propose yet! :)

I still see absolutely no reason we would need an upper house. (They'd still both be on the forum, right? Then what's the point?)

No, that's not the way I'd handle it. I'm expecting to make it like this:

    1. Elected upper house on the forums which handles day-to-day normal stuff, passing laws, etc.

    2. Assembly of all individuals in the in-game region which directly represents the peoples' will and balances the forums' power.

  2. I have to agree with llamas here. And as he knows, I'm opposed to any legislature that could be described as "more exclusive," so I think we will have to stick with elections.

Actually, Rec, that's an idea that's been floating around in my head for a while; Instead of an appointed upper house, I am considering making the Upper House fully elected on the forums.

  3. An announcement: The Revolutionary Party is hereby officially disbanded.

Why? Because Milograd's a prick. He didn't care for TWP, he was an NPO member who wanted power. He proved that in Lazarus.

All former members of the Revolutionary Party are strongly encouraged to join the Democratic Union Party, which seeks to establish true liberty, justice, and equality for all TWPers. Onwards, to freedom!

  4. One thought Arch; instead of an elected Speaker, why not rotate it through the members?

Doesn't sound like a good idea; the HGA is an open legislature, so if we make it rotated and give everyone a turn it will end up with some random newb who knows nothing about running a government at some point or another. If it were an appointed or elected legislature that was more exclusive, however, it could work.

  5. Bandwagon just arrived at 11:05 pm

Except that it turns out he's not on a bandwagon. He's coming back to this region instead of quitting despite the fact that some people are trying as hard as possible to make it a hostile environment for him, and I admire that. It's not political opportunism, he's genuinely trying to do something because he thinks it's right.

Oh god. I said that about freaking Cormac. I think the world is coming to an end.

  6. The Speaker can be head of the executive functions though! Keep in mind I'm not following the usual legis-exec divide. It simply doesn't fit the way TWP works. The Assembly is a weird merger of both. And I think Speaker works fine -- it is the nation who Speaks for the Assembly, who speaks for TWP. It's a bit different yes but who cares -- TWP is a different place.

I am flexible on this if more people object, but I think the name PM is so very meh.

I recommend we just refer to the office as PM in the bill to avoid ambiguity as to whether he should also have executive roles as well, and then just give him the authority to change the title to whatever he'd like, similarly to how the Assembly works. Actually, we might as well just give him the authority to change the name of the Assembly and Executive Council as well; having to go through the whole process of making and passing bill just for a name change seems like it might be a bit overkill.
