  1. UDLS Weekly, Aug 5, authored by President Azerzia, redacted for foreign use by FA Minister Frankezia Membership: Recruiting has not been as successful this week. We are now up to 153 resident nations, higher than the 136 from last report, with 33 member nations. Of those 136 residents, 26 are currently illegal; this is a drop in the raw number of illegals. All residents in non-compliance have been given warnings, as per policy. With these new numbers, we are in the top 70 regions of NationStates for population. In categories we fall into, we are the 31st largest Democratic, the 6th largest Socialist, the 5th largest Eco-friendly, the 3rd largest Liberal and the 3rd largest Communist region. In the usual recommendation, legal residents may sign the Register of Nations (which is found on the forum) to become member nations, and I encourage all of them to do so. While all residents have the same legal rights (except on matters of membership status as per Article 1), only member nations may hold, run for and be involved in the political process for the region. As we grow, new positions may open up in the Membership ministry. If anyone is interested in helping welcome new nations and keeping the Register of Nations up to date, they should contact Minister Kennedystan Foreign Affairs: Minister Frankezia has stepped in to negotiate future treaties, and I support their great work so far. They have also begun recruiting for the regional military. If you are interested in applying, please go to http://w11.zetaboards.com/UDLS/topic/9014524/1/ Internal Affairs: Discussions in the chat are ongoing, with Word Association being by far the most popular. I remain king of the hill, and other nations are discussing their favorite video games. Suggestions for roleplay and activities should go to Minister Quebecc Justice: Minister Cornish Republic has begun recruiting public defenders to defend nations accused of crimes. It is expected that an investigator team will be created as well in the near future. Regional Assembly: There are several Proposals up for discussion, with P-3 and P-4 being withdrawn. The others are the same as last week. Voting is pushed off until the Senate is set up in the next few weeks in order to comply with Constitutional standards. Realms are encouraged to use this time to create permanent Realmic charters. Draft and discuss in your Council boards. Realmic News: Nothing major from the Realms. Executive: Nothing new or major from the President. Elections: Voting in the elections for President, Justice, the Ministers and the Consuls are ongoing. We currently have 9 votes in for the regional positions, making up 27% of the possible votes. At the Realmic level, we have 7 votes in making up 21% of the vote. All member nations are encouraged to get out the vote! The three current parties, PLR, DFL and the Greens are all recruiting new members. If none of those parties appeal to you, you may make your own who may get involved in the next election.
  2. *stumbles into the embassy, carrying even more liquor* Very nice, we'll have a hell of an opening party
  3. The Union of Democratic Left States would like to request an embassy and we would be happy to welcome a diplomat from this fine region in our own forum. I'll be representing the UDLS myself here, and in case our request is granted, please mask me accordingly.
