Flurry of Foreign Faces Form Foundations For Future Friendships
Diplomats from Mazeria and Albion sign the Treaty of Friendship
Since the last update Mazeria has seen dramatic gains in population. Partly down to this, and partly down to an expanded Diplomatic Corps, these gains have also been accompanied by an increased diplomatic presence.
On the 27th of May, relations with our long-term ally Albion were cemented by the formal signing of theTreaty of Friendship between Mazeria and Albion, in Albion, which makes provisions for military co-operation, potential cultural co-operation, non-aggression and mutual defence. This treaty bodes well for the future and we hope to see co-operation on a variety of fronts in the months ahead.
In addition to the Treaty, Mazeria has also opened bilateral relations with Europeia, The Land of Kings and Emperors, The New Inquisition, The Pacific, The West Pacific and The Kingdom of Denmark, and we look forward to working together with them in the future and further developing our relations.

Mazeria Ministers Men to Military Managements
The Mazerian Armed Forces ready themselves for combat.
Back row, left to right: HRH Matthew Vinage, HM Emperor Frederick I, Aaron of Azelia
Front row, left to right: The Rt. Hon. Baron Drake, RS Dynasty
As with foreign affairs, so with the military. The Mazerian Armed Forces have been considerably enlarged since the last update, and have also been used to aid our allies. Notably, the MAF have been deployed to both St Abbaddon and Quebec in order to provide assistance to, respectively, the occupation regimes of Europeia and Albion. The MAF responded quickly to the King's call for troops and was successfully deployed on both occasions.
In addition to this, Emperor Frederick I and Baron Drake managed to seize and plunder West Michigan at minor update on the 31st of May.
As well as providing an opportunity for the King to get in touch with his creative side through the medium of tasteful ribbon manufacture, these operations have provided welcome experience to fresh new recruits to the MAF and, with future engagements more than likely to occur in the future, should help hone the MAF into a formidable fighting force.
In addition to the above, at minor update on the 21st of June, with the Sun hanging in the sky over Stonehenge, units of the Mazerian Armed Forces carried out their first ever unaided takeover of a region, capturing England! At the time of writing, preliminary units from Albion and The United Imperial Armed Forces had already arrived on scene to lend a helping hand, and we look forward to seeing more of our allies in the future.

A Prince is Crowned
Citizens of Mazeria hold a street banquet to celebrate the coronation
On the same day as the signing of the Treaty of Friendship with Albion, His Majesty Emperor Frederick I unveiled an heir to the Mazerian throne - Matthew Vinage. This means that if he becomes King, Mazeria will remain under the leadership of the Vinage family.
Though there hasn't been much work for the Crown Prince yet, he will fill in for the King when the King is absent. There's also been a bit of confusion, as Matthew Vinage is the King's NS father, but the region decided to sod the technicalities to avoid ridiculous amounts of nitpicking. As well as this, speculation is rife that His Royal Highness may run for Prime Minister, but wishes not to reveal that until nominations open.
His time before and as Crown Prince would appear to be a success, with his part in the establishment of the Mazerian Ambassadorial Service and the signing of the Albion-Mazeria Treaty of Friendship. He is hoping to carry on this sort of activity, but it is hitherto unknown whether he will arrive at parties in Nazi uniforms or try to drive the Royal Yacht whilst inebriated. More on his shenanigans as they develop.

Election Day in Mazeria
An artist's impression of the final vote in the elections
On June 19th 2013, Mazeria held her second ever election! Candidates were running for the positions of Prime Minister, World Assembly Delegate, Doge of Mazeria's first ever colony: Mediterrania, Citizen's Assembly Speaker and last but not least, Chief Justice. 15 nations cast their votes for the future of the region.
The title of Prime Minister was taken by Crown Prince Matthew Vinage in a landslide against opponent Baron Drake. The Crown Prince walked away with 73.3% of the vote.
In the most diverse contest, the race for WA Delegate, Aaron of Azelia dominated his three other opponents, taking 57.1% of the vote. In second was Joachkim Krjder with 21.4% of the vote, followed by Guandmare with 14.3% and Northeast Avalon bringing up the rear with 7.1%.
In what was possibly the most heated race, the title of Doge of Mediterrania was given to Baron Drake with 53.3% of the vote. His opponent, Columbina, closely followed with 46.7%. Both candidates fought hard for the position and fought what was one of the most intense political battles Mazeria has seen yet. Eventually, though, victory narrowly fell into the hands of Baron Drake. Columbina gracefully ceded the race in a show of sportsmanship that served as an inspiration for politicians region-wide.
The race for CA Speaker, although not quite as heated, was equally close. Victory fell to Milroman who won 53.3% of the vote, defeating his opponent Emperor Thomas IV, Mazeria's former WA Delegate. Milroman did well to defeat an opponent with such a seasoned opponent, and we in Mazeria look forward to seeing what he will bring to the Citizen's Assembly!
The election was not a total loss for Emperor Thomas IV however. Rather, it was a victory as he took the position of Chief Justice from opponent Edmund Chiramos in another close election. The final vote stood at 53.3% for Thomas IV and 46.7% for Edmund Chiramos in yet another close election. Having served well in the World Assembly as Mazeria's delegate for so long, there are no doubts that he will be able to serve justice with a fair and balanced hand.
As Mazeria's population grows, so to do the magnitude of her elections. This election has stood testament to that fact. As we continue to grow and expand our influence, our elections will certainly become more heated and competitive; something to keep in mind as we look to our third election. For now though, we celebrate a successful election, congratulate our new officials and thank all those who took the time to participate.

Mazerian Empire Established
This month saw the Citizens Assembly pass the Mazerian Empire Act, thereby legalising and starting the creation of the Mazerian Empire. The first official colony of this Empire, Mediterrania, was been founded prior to the Empire's creation, and thus the Act was required to formalise its status and allow for future expansion.
The colony, at this moment, remains small. The Colonial Government is currently being devised in a legal sense, and the new ruler and first Doge of Mediterrania, Baron Drake, is yet to take a proper office. However, the region is confident that it will become a thriving region that will further Mazerian prestige and status, and give it the confidence to further expand.
